The Pros And Cons Of E-Business

Campus Reach Internship Program
It gives me great pleasure to recommend Haley Parrish for the Campus Reach Internship
Program. Haley has been one of my employees since April of 2016. Her role in my company is to
lead tumbling and fitness classes for 3 to 18 year olds. Haley goes above and beyond her role as
an instructor by investing herself fully into the children she works with and performing the
tasks I ask of her. The work ethic Haley displays is one that cannot be matched. Her devotion to
her studies and extracurriculars is a valuable trait. Her dedication to her classes has not only
earned her a continuous spot on the Dean s List, but has also helped to further her knowledge for
the workplace she aspires to be in. Haley is an active member in her sorority and has

Summary Of The Anchor Bible
In the Anchor Bible, Joesph A. Fitzmyer interprets the Gospel according to Luke. Fitzmyer starts
with Jesus continuing his journey through towns and villages and he is teach and continuing
towards Jerusalem. In verse 23 someone asked him, Sir is it true that only a few are to be
saved? Jesus answers to them in verse 24, Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell
you, will seek to get in, but will not be able to. Luke carries on to the second part of his account
with Jesus statements about salvation and reception or non reception into the kingdom (Luke 13:22
30) these statements give an outlook for the whole second part which are closely linked with the
two final parables which ended the first part. Both deal with... Show more content on

In these verses Fitzmyer finds similarities in passages in the Gospel according to Matthew. Verse
24 resembles the Mathhean sermon on the mount where Jesus talks about two gates and two
ways which lead to life or destruction. Luke s version only speaks of a narrow door, however
both have to do with a door. He believes Luke may have modified his source to create a tie. In the
Sacra Pagina passages Luke Timothy Johnson and Daniel J. Harrington give us an interpretation
on Luke 13:23 24 also. Johnson and Harrington feel this section gives the reader a challenge to
stay committed to Luke s validity in his gospel. Much like Joesph A. Fitzmyer s interpretation of
the Gospel according to Luke in the Anchor Bible, Luke s twist on 13:22 is very evident. Jesus
in again on his journey to Jerusalem. To that point of the reading it is still on the same page,
after that, this section is made up of two very different types of stories. The first story is what
we will focus on. We find two extremes of who will be at the banquet which is the kingdom of
God. Those who will be included and those who will be excluded we find in Luke 13:23 30. Luke
13:23 Someone said to him, Lord, are those who are being saved few in number? In saying
someone, Johnson and Harrington believe this refers to a statement from the

Reflection Paper On Leadership
Leadership Paper
What defines leadership? There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership
including but not limited to the theories of leadership and how leadership should work. In my
opinion, every individual has different ways of confronting situations and there is not one
leadership style or theory that will be flawless for any given situation. However, to be a successful
educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the various theories and styles of
leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. Despite the
method used to confront a situation, it s the outcome of success that will determine which
leadership style or theory should be used. The following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the conflict style assessment identifies a high capacity for harmonizing and a low capacity for

relationships among members to achieve a common goal.
As I reflect on the results of the assessments mentioned above, I have learned that my character

students. It can also be determined, that as a leader I will abide to policies and procedures and be
able to make arrangements in order to collaborate and come to a consensus to reach a positive

Chemistry Vitamin C
tamin C, ascorbic acid, is one of the most important vitamins found in citrus juices, including orange
juice.
Often projects find that orange juices made from frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ) have the
highest vitamin C levels as compared to freshly squeezed or not from concentrate (NFC) juices.
This is probably due to the fact that vitamin C degrades over time in fresh and NFC, but doesn t
degrade as much in FCOJ due to it being frozen until reconstitution. If one is comparing a NFC
product that has been stored for about 3 weeks versus a newly reconstituted FCOJ, the FCOJ would
almost certainly have a higher vitamin C concentration. Also another thing to consider is if the
FCOJ is reconstituted to the same strength as fresh or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, pasteurized orange juice is processed based on fruit availability at the time, and this
could reflect the natural variability of vitamin C throughout the growing season for the fruit.
Pasteurized orange juice showed higher levels of vitamin C during the months of December
through March, when vitamin C rich Hamlin oranges were a major contributor to the orange juice
market. Samples collected between May and July generally had lower values of vitamin C. This
probably reflected the use of larger amounts of Valencia oranges which have lower amounts of
vitamin C of the three major Florida sweet oranges, said Lee. the current study did not take into
account any changes in vitamin C levels that could have occurred during marketing. Vitamin C
retention will also vary depending on the length of storage time and the type of container in which
a product is stored
BACKGROUND INFO
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals, humans
do not have the ability to make their own vitamin C. Therefore, we must obtain vitamin C through
our diet.
Function
Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, an important structural component of blood
vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bone. Vitamin C also plays an important role in the synthesis of
the neurotransmitter,

Literary Analysis Of Reginald Gibbons s Wood
Chopping wood, it seems like a task that is unnecessary in the modern world. Have you ever
chopped wood? Have you ever held an axe in your hands and then with all your might, hammer
down on a piece of wood with the hopes it will split right in half? Imagine a three foot axe in
hand and your only task is to split the maple log in front of you. All around you are trees and the
other logs and pieces of wood you have gathered to either process or store for later use as fuel,
but how much is enough fuel? Reginald Gibbons uses graphic imagery, and imaginative
metaphors in his poem, Wood , to illustrate the difficult task of chopping wood through a not
very obvious first person perspective, but upon further inspection, the poem uses imagery to
establish the setting and also explores the different thoughts the unnamed character has. Right
away, I noticed the large amount of imagery that was used in this poem A cylinder of maple / set
in place, feet spread apart / and the heavy maul, fat as a hammer ( Wood 1 3). The first paragraph
gives an accurate depiction of the action and visuals of what it is like to be outside on a cold day
to split wood. Gibbons uses a heavy amount of imagery, mainly sight, in this poem. Each stanzahas
some form of imagery within it. The choice of words and stylehe decided to use puts a very
weighty and, at one point, even put a darker mood over the poem. Right away, he describes the
process of splitting wood; this sets up the setting

Aboriginal People Of Canada
Aboriginal peoples of Canada have suffered exponentially throughout the entirety of history and
proceed to do so in modern society. Much of the continued suffrage of aboriginal peoples is as a
result of the Sixties Scoop and the Residential School System, as well as the lack of resources
available to them. This has wreaked extensive havoc on the mental health of Aboriginal peoples,
and has left excessive amounts of stigma and racism attached to Aboriginal Peoples, explicitly
seen in the cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women. The effects that have been left on
the aboriginal peoples by their experiences throughout history have had a profound effect on their
quality of life. Many continue to experience immense struggle in the areas of mental health and
addictions. The sixties scoop saw the removal of thousands of aboriginal children from their
homes, leaving them without any of the traditions they had come to know. This led to a feeling of
great confusion as to who they were, especially during some of the most crucial years of
development. As is outlined in the story of one such child, Lynn Thompson, who stated in an
interview with the Saskatchewan Sage, Like many of the children in my situation, I was abused,
eventually ended up settled in a German Mennonite community in Manitoba, where I shot myself. I
would have given anything to be in a residential school, to have other brown faces around. Further
on in the interview, Lynn s experiences with substance

John Wilkes Booth s Motives
A Look Inside the Motives of John Wilkes Booth On the fateful night of April 14, 1865,
President Abraham Lincoln attended a special performance of the comedy, Our American
Cousin, accompanied by his wife, Mary Todd, Major Henry Rathbone, and Rathbone s fiancee,
Clara Harris. Little did he know that a figure, armed with a drawn pistol, would step into his
presidential box and fatally wound him to appease the appetite for vengeance shared by many
Confederate sympathizers. Yelling Sic semper tyrannis, the figure scrambled to safety in the dark
of the night after tasting the short lived sweet taste of revenge, while his accomplice ran for his
life after a failed assassination attempt of Secretary William Seward. This assassin had embarked on

Vacuum Trucks Vs Vacuum Trucks
Vacuum trucks are an extremely useful and valuable commercial vehicle, taking on the task of
helping everyone live comfortably in clean, waste free surroundings. Certainly, at some point in
time, people need the services of this truck, whether it is a county that wants to clean up a clogged
drainage system or a restaurant that needs a grease drain trap emptied.
More consumers want to know about the services that are offered by vacuum tank trucks, both what
they do and how they do it, in order to determine if they need these services. Hopefully, this article
will illustrate and educate those who are interested in the services of this type of vehicle.

review the service record of each manufacturer to determine which one would best suit your
business needs.
В· Overall capacity The two different areas that need to be considered for capacity are the axles
carrying weight capacity and the vehicle s tank capacity. The tank capacity is an important thing to
consider and will vary depending upon what services or job it is designed to handle.
В· Numbers of axles Vacuum trucks have different numbers of axles that are dependent upon the
size of the tank being carried as well as the specific material that will be contained in the tank. The
answer to those questions will determine if an extra number of axles will be needed to provide
more strength particularly when used for industrial

Porter s Five Forces Model
Porter s Five Forces In order to further figure out the failure of GM in Korea, we decided to
analyse it from industrial perspective. The five forces model, which was developed by the
Harvard professor Michael Porter, is going to be applied to the case. Porter s five force model
demonstrates that the Threat of New Entrant, the Threat of Substitute Products or services, the
Bargaining Power of Buyers, the Bargaining Power of Suppliers and the Rivalry among the
Existing Competitors are the forces that shape the industry competition. Throughout the
investigation of GM Korea, factors from the five forces model except for the Bargaining Power
of Suppliers, will be discussed briefly regarding the failure of GM Korea. Research tells us that,
GM Korea sold in total of 780,518 vehicles during the year 2013; 629,478 of the total productions
were exported to the world, the remaining 151,040 vehicles were managed to sell within Korea.
Compared to the sales in 2012, the domestic performance was actually raised by 25%, though
oversea orders reduced 13.2% and lead to a 6.2% reduction in total sales. The research implicates
that, GM Korea is actually heavily relied on global trading instead of domestic demand. In terms of
the threat of new entrants, it is reasonable to illustrate that the threat of new entrants for the
industry because GM Korea does rely a lot on global sales and the constant industry structure from
local market, and in this case, it mainly comes from the global market.

The Socio Economic Attainment Of Adoptees
During the second half of the 20th century, there has been unprecedented growth in adoptions
(Selman, 2009; Stolley, 1993). Not only has the number of adoptees more than doubled from
approximately 50,000 in the 1940 s to more than 110,000 in 1990 (Stolley, 1993), but this increase
has been the inspiration of significant studies related to the psychological, social and physical
health of the adopted population. Furthermore, in the past four decades, the U.S. has become the
number one destination of adopted children from foreign countries.
While there have been significant studies to provide a portrait relating to how adoptees adapt to
their families, (L. Hamilton, Cheng, Powell, 2007; Hellerstedt 2008), there remains major

Thomas examines the relationship between adoption status and schooling progress differs between
foreign born and U.S. born children. He also examines if foreign born adopted children are more
likely to lag behind in school compared to U.S. born adoptees. Lastly, he examines if adoption
status results in differentiated patterns of educational inclusion among immigrant children. In
addition, he also examines how these variations are associated to racial and ethnic differences.
Thomas tests four hypothesis. Hypothesis 1 proposes adopted children have a schooling
disadvantage compared to biological peers but the disadvantage is smaller among immigrants
compared to U.S. natives. Hypothesis 2 tests whether adopted children of immigrant parents are
more likely to fall behind in school compared to their peers with U.S. born parents. Hypothesis 3
suggests foreign born adoptees have less favorable schooling outcomes compared to adoptees born
in the United States. Hypothesis 4 proposes minorities, especially Black face additional barriers of
prejudice and discrimination and because of this realize the least educational gains when compared
to white peers.
Thomas avoids two common shortcomings of studies oabout adopted children. Many are based on
convenience samples and small numbers of observations (Brodzinsky, 1993; Shiano Tuan, 2008).

Australia Is A Country That Is Diverse, Multicultural And...
Australia is a country that is diverse, multicultural and unique. Our geography and cultural history
are different to anywhere else, which has definitely captured the attention of the rest of the world.
For migrants from diasporic communities, assimilating to the Western identity while trying to
maintain the cultural heritage is not an easy task, especially during the 20th century, where racial
discrimination played a large role in impeding multiculturalism. I believe my childhood
experiences is an example of global framework where race, class and gender are the factors that
made not only me, but mostly every other coloured child living in Australia felt like we were
second class citizens . But because of such upbringings, my familial tie with my external family
became more strong and made me who I am today.
Primary school was not the best experience for me as I felt like I was already different for having
been born overseas, and I wasn t about to accentuate this quirk any further. Like every other child of
migrants from another country, I have felt the culture shock and alienation on the first couple of
months of primary school. This estrangement was especially strong for me because my school
was dominated by white kids. I was often picked on and laughed at because I couldn t speak any
English. During P.E. (Physical Education) classes, I was either singled out or last to be picked
because I wasn t one of them . I hated school. I felt unwanted because of my complexion.

My Critique Of A Concert Experience
As you have most likely already read on my data sheet, I listened to Dr. Joe and Friend play at
Ayuthai Restaurant on November 12th. The venue features jazz ensembles pretty often,
although I am not sure why... Are the Thais even bigger fans of jazz than the French, or is it a
personal preference of the venue owner? My first concert experience was overall pretty good. I
had a difficult time recognizing selections so I had to stay for the full two hours. I ate a lot of
Thai food. Appetizer, entree, and dessert... I would have felt like a pig if the couple seated next to
be hadn t order over double the amount of food I did. Point being, I highly recommend Ayuthai
Restaurant, and now onto my critique.
The vocalist was no Billy Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald, but she was not half bad either! I was
overjoyed whenever she joined the group. She sang two songs at the end of the first hour and
then another two at the end of the second. I was finally able to recognize and write down some
selections! I had not been able to recognize a simple musical piece played without her
accompaniment. They were not playing any of the jazz standards that I knew. No Ain t Misbehavin
, My Favorite Things, or Body and Soul... The first song she sang was one whose instrumentation I
would have recognized, though. Orange Colored Skies is one of my favorites. I know the words by
heart, so I immediately noticed something different.

Federal Funding And Private Investors
specified in Proposition 1A. However, as time passes, the initial estimate is beginning to look
like a low ball. The construction process has taken longer than expected up until this point, and
that has many direct and indirect costs associated. Some of these include increased number of
work hours, job site utilities, and equipment rentals (Cox). Because of this increase in price, the
state of California has tried to match federal funding with private investors. This, however, has
been a slow and uncertain process. Another overestimation on the side of the CAHSR is in train
times. Cox argues that the CHSRA s anticipated average speeds are not being achieved anywhere
in the world, even on the most advanced lines. He also states that the HSR would be unattractive
to drivers in middle distance automobile markets because little or no door to door time savings
would be achieved and costly local connections would often be required (rental cars or taxicabs).
California lacks the extensive local transit infrastructure in the Central Valley that can be found in
dense Asian and European areas; these smaller connecting systems are what make the high speed
railso effective on other continents. Without them, it is a lengthier process for consumers to get to
their end destination they have to use both the public transit and their own form of transportation.
This could have a negative effect on ridership because consumers will forego the hassle of changing

European history has been filled with war, but none has caused quite the damage like the Northern
Wars. The Northern Wars were a series of campaigns during the 16th century throughout the 18th
century that would leave devastation in the northern regions of Europe. Throughout the series of
wars that contributed to the mass destruction of property and wealth, none could be comparable to
the destruction that the Great Northern war caused. During the beginning of the 18th century, 1700

The short terms affect of the Great Northern War on the nations that were involved were mostly
territorial changes as well as the shift of power. After the war, Sweden lost much of its territory and
ended its era as one of the most powerful nations in Europe. Russia, the Commonwealth and
Denmark would all gain new territories that they desired both in the Baltic region and Estonia. After
Sweden was defeated, Russia rose as one of Europe s most power nation. Although the short term
impacts were important, there were also long term impacts that would forever change and affect
the course these nations would follow. The destruction caused during the duration of the war
forced Sweden to go into a state of recovery which would take decades to centuries to recover.
This would and prevent Sweden from becoming a major superpower in Europe as well as slow
down its advancement and development to a point that would put it at a disadvantage to other
nations. The nations that gained from this war would enter a golden age of rapid development and
growth. Russia, under the rule of Peter the Great, would enter a golden age that allowed cultural
expansion, prosperity through trade and rapid technological advancement. The legacy that the Great
Northern War left behind would be the influence of the Russian Empire on Europe. The European
nations would be exposed to Russia which made Peter s dream of

the runner will increase the risk of injury (Schipper, 2009). Gait analysis will be used to examine
deficits to body function, stability, and describe how the patient will be running. This will help
determine the patient s biomechanics and achieve adequate mobility. Lastly, we will perform a
pain assessment to see what pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine
whether the patient is minimizing stress on the body to achieve no pain at all while running. To
monitor progress of these assessments, we must know that if these muscles are weak or become
fatigued easily, there is less control of the leg and the risk of injury increases (Schipper, 2009,

We Choose To Go To The Moon And Barrack Obama s Speech On...
When choosing the speeches We Choose to go to the Moon and Barrack Obama s speech on same
sex marriage, there was a running theme of exhilaration, excitement and pride within the two
speeches. Without even truly knowing of the two speeches one can analyze by the meaning of the
speeches they are speeches that are meant to insight the country with such invigoration over a topic
that the emotion could be felt through by the words spoken. However, both events come from
entirely different time periods within entirely different social and political topics, and both speeches
even with coming off with similar emotions are presented in alternative ways. Semantics is the
study of wordconstruction and the ability to understand a word s meaning. Applying this study and
its concepts to John F. Kennedy s speechgiven at Rice University and Former President Barrack
Obama s speech on same sex marriage becomes a key to form an analysis on the two speeches.
Kennedy s speech at Rice University discusses the space exploration, specifically to the moon, the
choice of words within the speech make the speech animated using word understanding.
Within the speech, itself one of the many semantic features that can be found are the multiple noun
classes that Kennedy uses to create emphasis on what he is speaking about. In the sentence, The
exploration of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not, and it is one of the great
adventures of all time... one can notice the way concrete and

Global Health Personal Statement
Throughout my academic and professional career, I have developed skills that would be
beneficial as a Gates Foundation Fellow and support the global health work that the organization is

Things They Carried Truth Vs Truth
In The things they Carried, we are presented with a plentiful amount of stories. Stories that are hard
to believe and ones that make you feel a certain way. Tim O Brien does a great job of making the
reader think when reading these stories, the thought of the theme and truth of the story and what the
real truthis. Throughout the book there is a present difference between the story truth and the real
truth. O Brien makes this very clear when telling us how to determine a war story as well as in
the story s told. I think the real truth is what the person believes to be true, that person being the

I believe the meaning of this and why many people not just O brien stretch the truth of stories is
because sometimes truth is bland, and even if it s believable it doesn t have an impact on you.
You just hear the real truth. The story truth is something you can picture, something you can
imagine every bit of and view the experience like you were in their shoes. You can feel the guilt
or emotions the writer might have had. The story truth makes you feel and think and not just
read but be involved with the story entirely. Sometimes in books and stories the truth is hard to
imagine, if O Brien were just to say that war was horrible and that many men died I wouldn t feel
anywhere near what the story truth could make you feel like. When O Brien described the man he
killed, and when he gives short descriptions of men he s seen die it brings the story to life a little
more. Even if the truth is slightly manipulated it seems more real because it makes you feel like
you knew somebody. So in reality, what seems more truthful, really isn t the truth and the simple
truth feels unimportant or even boring at times. In the real truth emotions are overlooked and one
must really read between the lines to feel what the author meant for them, but the story truth is
written for a reason, to make you feel what they felt, and that s the

Wildlife includes all non domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. Domesticating wild

that intended to provide all kinds of support to the elephant bearing states in India, be it financial
or technical for protection of elephants and their habitats. Elephants, the gentle giants of the forests
are much loved in India and this project was launched when their numbers started decreasing at an
alarming rate. The Project Elephant in India also aimed to decrease the human elephant battles
and help in the welfare of domesticated elephants in India. Though project elephant was launched
with much enthusiasm years ago, but it has still not led to as much increase in the number of
elephants as it was expected. Wildlife conservationists state that the progress has been real slow

number of elephants. Project Elephant tries to ensure a free movement for the elephants and thus
conserve large areas for them that are called elephant reserve range .

Comparing Three Creation Stories
One of biggest mysteries that people have been trying to answer for centuries is, How was the
earth created? Every culture and religion has a different story that attempts to describe how we
came to be. When we pick different creation stories from cultures and religions it s interesting to
see what similarities and differences arise. This paper will analyze some of the similar and
different aspects of three different creation stories. The first creation story is described in the
Bible in Genesis 1 2:3, the second in Genesis 2:4 24, and the third is the creation story of the
Kono people of Guinea called Death, and Life and Death.
It s fascinating that each creation story hints at a common purpose for humans. In Genesis 1,

In Genesis 1, the creating power, God, creates plants on day three of the six days of creation.
Living creatures (excluding humans) were created on the fifth and sixth days (ESV Gen 1:11 25).
In the Genesis 2 creation account, the Lord God plants the Garden of Eden after he creates the
man. He then creates animals in the same way he created the man and the man names all the
animals (ESV Gen 2:7 20). In Death, and Life and Death, the god Alatangana consolidates the earth
from mud, creates plants to cover the earth, and then creates animals to live on it ( Death, and Life
and Death ).
The creating power in Genesis 1 is referred to as God (ESV Gen 1:1 31; 2:1 3). What s
interesting is that in Genesis 2, each time the creating power is referenced; he is referred to as
the Lord God (ESV Gen. 2:4 25). Christians believe that God and the Lord God are the same
being, but it s interesting that they aren t described with the same name. Still, both Genesis
accounts creating powers differ from the Kono people s creation story Death, and Life and Death

The Causes Of The Great Fear Of 1789
7. The causes of the peasants uprising known as the Great Fear of 1789 was the peasants
impatience and want to take matters into their own hands because they were furious with being
forced to deal with the most of the taxation, the church tithes, and the nobles abusing their
privileges effecting their lives. The cause that pushed them over the edge to begin the uprisings
was the rise in the price of bread. The outcomes of the uprising were the destroying of feudal
documents, enclosed lands raided, and most importantly the Nation Assembly having no choice but
to issue a decree on August 4, 1789 that abolished all noble privileges including the hunting rights,
the fees for legal cases judged in a lord s court, forcing peasants to work on roads, along with the
abolishment of tithes.
8. The documents of the National Assembly were the August Decree, The Declaration of the Rights
of Man and of the Citizen, the Civil Constitution of the Clergy, and the Constitution of 1791.The
Enlightenment ideas are reflected in each one like in the August Decree, the National Assembly
revokes the nobility s privileges and serfdom over the peasants in which they violated their natural
rights of especially liberty by John Locke as well as the economic ideas of Adam Smith of
abolishing guilds. The freeing of the serfs reflected Diderot s ideas. The Declaration of the Rights

Dystopian Fiction?
The definition of Dystopia is an imaginary place where the inhabitants are exploited and control is
maintained through oppression. Both The Scarlet Letter and The Handmaid s Tale reflect
characteristics of a dystopian novel. A dystopian novel is usually fictional and futuristic to the time
in which it was written. The characters are made to worship a concept or figure as a way of
control. Characters are subject to an irrational fear of what is outside their environment and the
issues raised in the novel are commentaries on contemporary society at the time.

Immanuel Kant s Formalism Theory
Kant s Formalism Theory The theories of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, have had an
impact on the formulation and shaping of ethics today. Immanuel Kant graced this earth from 1724
to 1804. During his eighty year life time, he formulated many interesting ideas regarding ethical
conduct and motivation. Kant is strictly a non consequentialist philosopher, which means that he
believes that a person s choices should have nothing to do with the desired outcome, but instead
mankind simply goes about doing good because it is morally correct. Kant theorizes that moral
reasoning is not based on factual knowledge and that reason by itself can reveal the basic
principles of morality. Ideas contemplated and developed and theorized by... Show more content on

If you want to reach a specific goal, then you will accomplish these tasks. On the other hand,
categorical laws apply to everyone. Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical
imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which
exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that
as rational, moral beings, individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is
consistent, individuals all live by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a
moral law, we can thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting
rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of universal acceptability appears to be intertwined with
echoes of the golden rule. Another famous theory developed by Kant further explaining the
categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an end and never merely as a means. Individuals
should never treat someone a special way in an effort to get gain. In other words, Kant developed
the theory we hear in nursery school of, treat others as you would like to be treated. Logically, this
theory states that rational beings recognize their worth and the worth of others. As a rational
thinker, one would not want to be used as a means to an end. Immanuel Kant s formalism theory
poses many compelling and interesting points of view. On the surface, the categorical imperative

of geothermal resources; they are hydrothermal, Geo pressured, hot dry rock and magma. The most
common use is the hydrothermal resource. Hydrothermal resources have a common ingredient of
water and heat. This geothermal reservoir of steam or hot water occur naturally were magma comes

Hydrothermal resources are used for many different energy purposes depending on the temperature.

History of Civil Aviation
Civil aviation came about after World War one when pioneers explored new uses for aircraft,

a few years before in 1904 J. E. Cooper, from the British war office, visited the Wright Brothers.
His aim was to bring back information and skills on aircraft. This did not happen because the
Wright brothers asked for $100,000 for the method of aircraft and a further $100,000 for the

Improved development brought about the Lion powered eight passenger D.H.34 which had its

April 2nd. This aeroplane type was also used by Instone and one was even exported to Russia.
Handley Page designed and built the W.8, based on its own 0/400 series, which had two Eagle

accommodation and a single fin and rudder in place of the 0/400s box like structure. The W.8

Essay about Etic vs. Emic Approaches in Anthropology
Adrian Simons Wilson
Working in the field as a cultural anthropologist requires participant observation, interviews, and
observation. (Knight) The etic and emic orientated styles are two different styles that applied
anthropologists use in their field work. The etic orientated approach is a perspective that in
ethnography uses concepts and categories for the anthropologists culture to describe another culture.
(Ferraro/Andretta) The emic orientated approach is a viewpoint in ethnography that uses the
concepts and categories that are relevant and meaningful to the culture under analysis (Ferraro
/Andreatta). There has been much debate on whether the etic or emic orientated techniques of
research should be used in the field. Cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One will need to look to the humanities to understand the culture. This turn to the humanities is an
emic technique used in the field.
Emic orientated investigations succeed because it engages applied anthropologists to live with and
live like the people of the culture they are studying. It becomes a personal study under the emic
practice. Being personally involved allows one to connect to the culture and why that culture thinks
and performs a certain way.
Emic orientated research fails because it gets too personal with its subjects. This can cause one
to stop looking at its subjects as research to be analyzed but as people, which they are, to just
befriend and not critically think about. One may begin sympathizing with those within the culture
and not be able to learn about the culture from an outsider s point of view. It would be difficult
from an emic view to understand why a family may be dehydrated if they are blaming their
religious beliefs when they are in fact dehydrated because it has not rained for a month. Religion in
this case would be an unreasonable rationale.
You cannot understand a culture from just an etic approach; you need emic research methods as
well in order to get accurate information to help you understand that culture. Etic and emic
investigations both have their pros and cons, and together they compliment and support each other.
The subsequent will look at readings that give examples of etic and emic studies.

Competition As A Monopolistic Competition
Competition in Smartphone Markets
Introduction
The competition in Smartphone Markets is a monopolistic competition, in which the products of
each firm are differentiated and the entry barrier is free. Products competing in the network
industries have network externalities.
Accordingly, this essay will deal with the following aspects of the question. Initially, the concept of
the monopolistic competition is present. Follow by the idea of the network effect theory. The multi
sided market and the core business strategies is analyzed and finally, the examination of the future
of the smartphone competition is shown.
What is the monopolistic competition ?
Monopolistic competition refers to a competition where monopoly exists, and is neither a perfect
competition nor an oligopoly. As the market competition become intense, the distribution of
resource becomes rational; therefore, the level of competition in the monopolistic competition is
more intense than it is in the oligopoly and perfect competition (Roberts et al, 1977). Another
reason caused this is that the products in the monopolistic competition can be easily replaced.
Nowadays, smartphones of different brands are similar on their appearance, details and even
functions. The conditions for a monopolistic competition to exist are as follows. Initially, the
products in the competition have to be differentiated. The differences can be in the quality of the
products, the appearance, the label or the sales conditions.

Truman Capote s In Cold Blood is the story of Perry and Dick and the night of November 15, 1959.
This investigative, fast paced and straightforward documentary provides a commentary on the
nature of American violence and examines the details of the motiveless murders of four members
of the Clutter family and the investigation that led to the capture, trial, and execution of the killers.
While reading Truman Capote s novel, In Cold Blood , I spent more than one night lying awake in
my bed, frightened by Capote s presentation of the facts surrounding the murder of an obscure
Kansas farmer and three of his family members. Several times, I caught myself wondering why this

This draws the reader closer to the men than they would, perhaps, like to be.
Capote talks about the lives of both killers previous to the murders in fairly significant detail. In the
case of Perry Smith, his parents divorced early in his childhood and neither his mother nor
father really wanted him. This produced feelings of abandonment and uselessness early on in
Perry and affected the rest of his life. Capote brings up a letter written to the Kansas State
Penitentiary about Perry by Perry s father, who was trying to have Perry paroled for a previous
crime he had committed. Perry says that this biography always set racing a series of emotions
self pity in the lead, love and hate evenly at first, the latter ultimately pulling ahead (130). Perry
didn t feel as though his father ever knew him very well, or even wanted to know him. He says,
whole sections of my Dad was ignorant of. Didn t understand an iota of...I had this great natural
musical ability. Which Dad didn t recognize. Or care about...I never got any encouragement from
him or anybody else (133). When Perry s father threw him out of the house one evening because
his father could no longer afford to have Perry live with him, Perry lost his sense of direction in
life. He even says

Summary Of Los Angeles Notebook By Joan Didion Santa Ana...
In Los Angeles Notebook , Joan Didion introduces Santa Ana, a dry wind that is characteristic of
Los Angeles region. She emphasizes the severity of Santa Ana by depicting the influence it brings
to people and the environment. The visit of Santa Ana stirred up people and causes fire, leaving
people and the environment vulnerable to such weather. Didion provides details and vignettes that
depicts people s nervous and anxious reactions to underscore how significantly Santa Ana
influences Los Angeles. She concludes by pointing out the fragility of human in front of the nature.
Didion feels that Santa Ana is coming because the baby frets , the maid sulks , and she shows
uneasiness (21). She then recalled the unusual scenes and people s reactions ... Show more content

Specifically, Didion provides the year of the huge fires caused by Santa Ana and the exact date of
events during the longest Santa Ana period. Moreover, numbers like 25,000 acres and 100 miles
an hour are presented to underscore the scope of the severe fire and intensity of the wind (22). In
addition, instead of briefly stating that some people died during this period, Didion clarifies the
causes of these tragedies, making a seeming connection between the deaths and Santa Ana. She
also specifies the crimes and accidents, using words like murdered , killed , shot , and injury (22).
Such words generate an terrifying and alarming image of Santa Ana. Furthermore, by listing a
complete timeline of big events, Didion makes the essay more informative and assertive. More
importantly, instead of simply listing events, Didion depicts the details of every event with her
dramatic imagination so that readers can have a explicit and vivid picture of what have happened.
The abundant details embedded in the factual evidence not only underlines the strength of Santa
Ana, but also makes Didion s following statements about the its influence more

Bubble Gum
Have you ever wondered who invented bubble gum, or why it s pink? How do you go about
getting the answers to these questions? Easy. Think way, way back, not to prehistoric times but
close, 1928. Popular With Children, Unpopular with Parents and Teachers. The first known
bubble gum appeared in 1906, and was a dud. Known as Blibber Blubber, it was sticky, brittle,
and insufficiently cohesive. In 1928, an accountant, Walter Diemer, invented an improved version
of bubble gum. The only food coloring he had on hand was pink, so for many years, pink was the
common color of bubble gums. Diemer arranged to market the bubble gum in Philadelphia candy
stores and the product became wildly popular with children. Fleer Company purchased the recipe,...

much can you handle? ... So these little thrill seekers will love the six feet of bubble gum tape
with intense flavor: extreme sour lemon lime; extreme freeze cherry, extreme sweet cotton

developed for tobacco chewers and snuff users. The chewing gums served as a drug delivery
system for nicotine. By the late 1980s, anti smoking efforts of health professionals and
increasingly stringent regulations against smoking in public places created a new market for
nicotine containing gums. Such medicinal gums might help in nicotine withdrawal. The
objective was to have the addicted smoker chew rather than smoke, with the hope that eventually
the person would become a non smoker and a non chewer at least, a non nicotine chewer. Bubble
gum as a dietary supplement delivery system is relatively new. One advertisement aimed at
parents for a vitamin containing bubble gum for children states: You may never have to remind
your kids to take their vitamins again. With Vitaball there s no begging, no pleading, no fuss.
The first five minutes or so your kids chew Vitaballs, they get 100% RDA [Recommended Daily

Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan, was founded on January 30, 1920. For the past 90 years, they
have been designing and building great cars for car lovers all over the world.
Mazda Motor Singapore Pte Ltd is the authorized distributor of Mazda vehicles, parts and
accessories. The company provides warranty maintenance for new cars and repair services. They
have been the wholesaler for Mazda products dating as far back as 1963 when Mazda products first
arrived in Singapore.
Currently, Mazda Motor Corporation is looking at expanding the market share of their Mazda RX8
in Singapore.

2.4 Current Promotion
Currently, due to the raise of Certificate of Entitlement, Mazda is offering a SGD$5000 cash
rebate when consumers buy a RX8. Their main objective now is to gain a higher market share.
Using the scare tactics, they are giving a deadline for this promotion to end, urging consumers to
enjoy this offer while other dealers are only giving a much lower cash rebate of SGD$3,000 to
SGD$4,000. As they are not going high key this time, they are using below the line advertising like
giving out of flyers and placement of posters in their showroom.
3.0 RECOMMENDED TARGET MARKET
3.1 Geographical Traits
The proposed new target market is strategically located locally in Singapore. The proposed
promotion will reach the masses of geographically dispersed buyers locally. As Singapore is a
small country by itself without big towns like some European countries, we will not be further
segmenting the island geographically.
3.2 Demographic Traits
For the Mazda RX8, the company has always been targeting adults in the Changing Age Group,
aged 20 to 34, locally. We will be using the Market Development Strategy, which is to sell an
existing product to a new market. The proposed new market to target is the Middle Age Mature
Consumers in the male segment, who are between 35 to 45

Essay on Persuasive Speech Against Video Games
Thesis: The rise of the video game has had many negative effects on children.
INTRODUCTION
Attention getter: Whenever I look out from my window at home, nothing but memories come
back to me. The house three doors down was the unsuspecting target of the foul balls we would
hit when we use to play home run derby. Or my basketball hoop which held many world
championships between me being the bulls and my friends being that year s runner up. In the
park across the street, I ended up blackmailing my neighbor, who was a few years older than me,
into letting me play football with him and his friends. That s how much I loved to be outside and
play with my friends. As I become aware that my street has become barren from children playing ...

In Grand Theft Auto, you run a round picking up jobs in an imaginary city. These jobs range
from killing union workers to stealing pricy automobiles. In Conker s Bad Fur day, you play as
a playful cartoon squirrel that drinks beer and urinates on the enemy to defeat him. In the
Journal of the American Medical Association, 90% of the games played today actually reward
the player to injure another person and these were the games rated Teen. These types of
gratuitous violence portrayed in video games transfer over into the everyday lives of these
children. Studies of children exposed to violence have shown that they can become: immune or
numb to the horror of violence, imitate the violence they see, and show more aggressive
behavior the more they re exposed to violence. Some children accept violence as a way to handle
problems. Studies have also shown that the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence,
the greater the impact on children. For instance, a child in Kentucky ended up bringing a revolver
to school and shot 8 students. Police ended up pin pointing the source to the video games the child
had been playing. The child ended up raking in more than 10,000 hours of a shoot em up style game
that rewarded bonus points for headshots.
Even if the games are not violent, another side effect that video games have on the health of
children is with exercising. In a

Theme Of Romanticism In Frankenstein And La Bell Dame Sans...
Many Romantic works have placed an important focus on the interesting figure of the strange,
mysterious and the Other. The essay will be concerned with the paramount role the Other plays in
Shelley s Frankenstein and Keats poems. Since this entity entails elements of unusualness and is
thus incomprehensible, it already dwells within the realm of oddness and unknowability. Therefore,
the figure of the Other in this essay will be treated as synonymous with that which is strange or
mysterious . Through installing such a disruptive figure into the orderly narrative structure as the
perplexing site of exoticness and peculiarity, the Romantic authors are not only creating a
fascinating appeal within their works, but are also inviting readers... Show more content on

As the foreign element in the poem, she already emanates a curious vibe of exotic fantasy
displayed from her strange language (23), such an impression then leading to her positioning as
the Other whom which the knight fails to comprehend. But she is also mystical in that her very
being is subjected to unfixable definition. The lady is attributed to be both belle dame and
beldame , her dual identity presenting as a macaronic pun (Williams 214), as a bilingual mix of
words operating within the same context. While belle dame in French depicts a pleasant beautiful
maiden, the English version beldame contradictorily points towards the figuration of a malicious
old hag. Thus, the lady s name itself already signifies a kind of perplexing fluidity. Her true nature
can never be clearly captured by the knight, akin to how one can never grasp flowing water within
the palm. Right from the start, she is already portrayed as an elusive Dionysian entity which cannot
be readily subsumed within the Establishment s fixed Apollonian codes of understanding. The
knight regards her brows as washed out with feverish dew (10). Dew holds a refreshing quality and
symbolically represents the vitality of renewal. However, this pristineness is quickly being

The Modern Age
The Modern Age appeared when people began to evolve from medieval times, lasting throughout
the centuries and into today s society. It s not about birth anymore; who you were born to doesn t
matter. People are given so much more freedom than in the feudal times because compared to the
Middle Ages, when brute force was dominant, the Modern Age is based upon what people can do,
intellectually more so than physically; which lets them become anything they want. But when did
this starting happening? Who began all this? I believe that the three key people who set the Modern
Age into motion was Leonardo Da Vinci, Isaac Newton, and Mary Wollstonecraft, because of their
traits, their environments around them, and because of the lasting effect their... Show more content

Leonardo Da Vinci was a man of great curiosity, passion, persistence, and innovation. His
curiosity led him to try his hand at many fields, resulting in many different experiences that
nicknamed him The Renaissance Man. He tried his hand in many sciences, but particularly at
aerodynamics, where he created countless designs for a flying machine because he desperately
wanted to fly. As each design failed, his persistence rose; he would begin to work on his next
concept after observing how they failed, and then try his third concept and his fourth concept,
never tiring out or giving up. Da Vinci s passions were spread throughout his many fields. In art,
he included many techniques the Middle Ages hadn t created yet, like sfumato and chiaroscuro.
His artwork depicted humanism, individualism, secularism, realism, and mannerism, which began
in the Renaissance; people began to value and focus on themselves, showing pride in who they
were by getting self portraits. The morals of people shifted from being humble and caring about
their next life to selfish and trying to make the most of this life. In the religious art Da Vinci does,
it shows how people were equal with God and other religious figures, as

Irregular Migrants: Amnesty and Right to Stay
Introduction:
Irregular migrants are people living in a nation illegally. They do not have the citizenship of the
country, or they might have come in as illegal refugees. Residents in another nation with visas
but they have passed they due date or has expired without having obtained the citizenship of the
particular nation are also viewed as irregular migrants in that particular country. Liberal
democratic countries, on the other hand, are those that are not lead under a dictatorship.
Progressive countries allow free and fair election to multi parties. They also give rights and
freedom to its citizens. In most case, progressive governments also give certain privileges to their
citizens such as freedom for adults above the age of 18years to vote and freedom of employment.
They also provide free public education to its citizens and access to healthcare services in public
hospitals.
The debate over the years, however, has been whether liberal democratic nations should tolerate the
entry of irregular migrants into their countries. Questions have also been asked as to what legal and
moral obligation these nations have over the vulnerability of illegal migrants into ... Show more

Agamemnan, The Inferno, Don Quixote Essay
Agamemnon, The Inferno, and Don Quixote may seem to be vastly different stories written across
centuries of time and within incongruous cultures but the three tales share related themes. * Set
among the ruling family of Argos, Aeschylus s Agamemnon examines the topic of justice: ancient
eye for an eye progressing toward modern disinterested justice, attributing all to the gods.
Similarly, in Dante Alighieri s Inferno each sinner is placed in a punishment to fit his crime: divine
perfection of justice. * Miguel de Cervantesapproaches the other side of justice, Don Quixote
questions what happens when an antiquated or fictional moral code is put into play in a different
time or place. * What is Justice? Aeschylus suspends justice somewhere... Show more content on

Chorus that [Zeus] lays it down as law that we must suffer, suffer into truth. According to them,
Justice is not meted out by man s will alone, but as a cog in the machine of the gods; a means to a
divine end. *
In the following plays, the wheel comes full circle as Agamemnon s son comes home to avenge
his death, by killing his mother Clytemnestra. Under the system in which they have labored to
this point, her death should beget the death of her son and so one SP. However, having been
killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged.
There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer,
better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until
a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the
imperfection of the old system.
Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is
melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the
ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer

International Research And Development At The High...
International research and development are being conducted to come across the high capacity
demand in transport network, mostly for 100 G Ethernet and beyond. The two main subjects that
need to be identified to raise the data rate to 100 Gb/s per wavelength are.
пѓ Bandwidth expansion
One direct method for increasing the capacity of a system is to raise the transmission bandwidth per
wavelength either optically or electronically. In optical communication, there are two broadly used
techniques for increasing the capacity of the transmission. The first technique is to spread out the
bandwidth by adding numerous optical carriers. This technique has already been slow and
deployed and it is known as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Wavelength Division
Multiplexing can benefit to extend the transmission bandwidth by adding various transceivers for
the current optical fiber links deprived of the need to install other fiber links. WDM is considered as
one of the most cost effective methods to raise the optical fiber link quantity. The second technique
is to extend the electronic bandwidth per wavelength relying on the CMOS technology.
However, the present digital to analog converters (DAC)/ (ADC) can only support upto 6 GHz
bandwidth. It became a challenge to realize 100 Gb/s transmission in a cost effective manner. But,
recently DAC/ADC realized more than 30 GS/s with more than a 20 GHz analog bandwidth. This
can support a 100 Gb/s transmission.

Holmes Sheppard Case
Why does a trial get a retrial when the first trial served justice? Dr. Samuel Holmes Sheppard was
born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1923. He studied at Hanover College and Western Reserve
University. Sheppard pursued careers in medicine. He got married in 1945 to his high school
girlfriend, Marilyn. After a few years of their marriage, they returned back to Cleveland, Ohio.
Until July 4, 1954, they lived a charmed life in a wealthy neighbourhood. Then suddenly on July 4,
1954, Marilyn was found dead in their bedroom. This case is known as one of the longest running

Firstly, prosecution didn t realize about phone calling his friend when Sheppard can check the

died or not? It doesn t matter what kind of doctor you are, all the doctors were trained the basic
things such as checking pulse. For me, I learned it when I was in 8th grade, so Sheppard should
know it. This shows that he knew she died, but he called his friend, so in case if gets in trouble,
his friend s testimony can save him. Secondly, neither the defense nor the prosecution brought
up about his make up stories. In the article by Larkin, B, from Speaking up for Marilyn in the 60
year old Sam Sheppard murder case stated that when Sheppard was making alibis to walk away
when he got arrested. However, in the second trial, no one brought it up. When Sheppard was
arrested he said that there was blushy haired killed her. However, there wasn t any damaged in the

  • 4. Summary Of The Anchor Bible In the Anchor Bible, Joesph A. Fitzmyer interprets the Gospel according to Luke. Fitzmyer starts with Jesus continuing his journey through towns and villages and he is teach and continuing towards Jerusalem. In verse 23 someone asked him, Sir is it true that only a few are to be saved? Jesus answers to them in verse 24, Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to get in, but will not be able to. Luke carries on to the second part of his account with Jesus statements about salvation and reception or non reception into the kingdom (Luke 13:22 30) these statements give an outlook for the whole second part which are closely linked with the two final parables which ended the first part. Both deal with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these verses Fitzmyer finds similarities in passages in the Gospel according to Matthew. Verse 24 resembles the Mathhean sermon on the mount where Jesus talks about two gates and two ways which lead to life or destruction. Luke s version only speaks of a narrow door, however both have to do with a door. He believes Luke may have modified his source to create a tie. In the Sacra Pagina passages Luke Timothy Johnson and Daniel J. Harrington give us an interpretation on Luke 13:23 24 also. Johnson and Harrington feel this section gives the reader a challenge to stay committed to Luke s validity in his gospel. Much like Joesph A. Fitzmyer s interpretation of the Gospel according to Luke in the Anchor Bible, Luke s twist on 13:22 is very evident. Jesus in again on his journey to Jerusalem. To that point of the reading it is still on the same page, after that, this section is made up of two very different types of stories. The first story is what we will focus on. We find two extremes of who will be at the banquet which is the kingdom of God. Those who will be included and those who will be excluded we find in Luke 13:23 30. Luke 13:23 Someone said to him, Lord, are those who are being saved few in number? In saying someone, Johnson and Harrington believe this refers to a statement from the ... There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership including but not limited to the theories of leadership and how leadership should work. However, to be a successful educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the various theories and styles of leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. • 7. Chemistry Vitamin C tamin C, ascorbic acid, is one of the most important vitamins found in citrus juices, including orange juice. Often projects find that orange juices made from frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ) have the highest vitamin C levels as compared to freshly squeezed or not from concentrate (NFC) juices. This is probably due to the fact that vitamin C degrades over time in fresh and NFC, but doesn t degrade as much in FCOJ due to it being frozen until reconstitution. If one is comparing a NFC product that has been stored for about 3 weeks versus a newly reconstituted FCOJ, the FCOJ would almost certainly have a higher vitamin C concentration. Also another thing to consider is if the FCOJ is reconstituted to the same strength as fresh or ... Pasteurized orange juice showed higher levels of vitamin C during the months of December through March, when vitamin C rich Hamlin oranges were a major contributor to the orange juice market. Samples collected between May and July generally had lower values of vitamin C. This probably reflected the use of larger amounts of Valencia oranges which have lower amounts of vitamin C of the three major Florida sweet oranges, said Lee. the current study did not take into account any changes in vitamin C levels that could have occurred during marketing. • 8. Literary Analysis Of Reginald Gibbons s Wood Chopping wood, it seems like a task that is unnecessary in the modern world. Have you ever chopped wood? Have you ever held an axe in your hands and then with all your might, hammer down on a piece of wood with the hopes it will split right in half? Imagine a three foot axe in hand and your only task is to split the maple log in front of you. All around you are trees and the other logs and pieces of wood you have gathered to either process or store for later use as fuel, but how much is enough fuel? Reginald Gibbons uses graphic imagery, and imaginative metaphors in his poem, Wood , to illustrate the difficult task of chopping wood through a not very obvious first person perspective, but upon further inspection, the poem uses imagery to establish the setting and also explores the different thoughts the unnamed character has. Right away, I noticed the large amount of imagery that was used in this poem A cylinder of maple / set in place, feet spread apart / and the heavy maul, fat as a hammer ( Wood 1 3). The first paragraph gives an accurate depiction of the action and visuals of what it is like to be outside on a cold day to split wood. Gibbons uses a heavy amount of imagery, mainly sight, in this poem. Each stanzahas some form of imagery within it. The choice of words and stylehe decided to use puts a very weighty and, at one point, even put a darker mood over the poem. Right away, he describes the process of splitting wood; this sets up the setting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Aboriginal People Of Canada Aboriginal peoples of Canada have suffered exponentially throughout the entirety of history and proceed to do so in modern society. Much of the continued suffrage of aboriginal peoples is as a result of the Sixties Scoop and the Residential School System, as well as the lack of resources available to them. This has wreaked extensive havoc on the mental health of Aboriginal peoples, and has left excessive amounts of stigma and racism attached to Aboriginal Peoples, explicitly seen in the cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women. The effects that have been left on the aboriginal peoples by their experiences throughout history have had a profound effect on their quality of life. Many continue to experience immense struggle in the areas of mental health and addictions. The sixties scoop saw the removal of thousands of aboriginal children from their homes, leaving them without any of the traditions they had come to know. This led to a feeling of great confusion as to who they were, especially during some of the most crucial years of development. As is outlined in the story of one such child, Lynn Thompson, who stated in an interview with the Saskatchewan Sage, Like many of the children in my situation, I was abused, eventually ended up settled in a German Mennonite community in Manitoba, where I shot myself. I would have given anything to be in a residential school, to have other brown faces around. Further on in the interview, Lynn s experiences with substance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Porter s Five Forces Model Porter s Five Forces In order to further figure out the failure of GM in Korea, we decided to analyse it from industrial perspective. The five forces model, which was developed by the Harvard professor Michael Porter, is going to be applied to the case. Porter s five force model demonstrates that the Threat of New Entrant, the Threat of Substitute Products or services, the Bargaining Power of Buyers, the Bargaining Power of Suppliers and the Rivalry among the Existing Competitors are the forces that shape the industry competition. Throughout the investigation of GM Korea, factors from the five forces model except for the Bargaining Power of Suppliers, will be discussed briefly regarding the failure of GM Korea. Research tells us that, GM Korea sold in total of 780,518 vehicles during the year 2013; 629,478 of the total productions were exported to the world, the remaining 151,040 vehicles were managed to sell within Korea. Compared to the sales in 2012, the domestic performance was actually raised by 25%, though oversea orders reduced 13.2% and lead to a 6.2% reduction in total sales. The research implicates that, GM Korea is actually heavily relied on global trading instead of domestic demand. In terms of the threat of new entrants, it is reasonable to illustrate that the threat of new entrants for the industry because GM Korea does rely a lot on global sales and the constant industry structure from local market, and in this case, it mainly comes from the global market. ... Not only has the number of adoptees more than doubled from approximately 50,000 in the 1940 s to more than 110,000 in 1990 (Stolley, 1993), but this increase has been the inspiration of significant studies related to the psychological, social and physical health of the adopted population. Furthermore, in the past four decades, the U.S. has become the number one destination of adopted children from foreign countries. Thomas examines the relationship between adoption status and schooling progress differs between foreign born and U.S. born children. He also examines if foreign born adopted children are more likely to lag behind in school compared to U.S. born adoptees. Lastly, he examines if adoption status results in differentiated patterns of educational inclusion among immigrant children. In addition, he also examines how these variations are associated to racial and ethnic differences. Thomas tests four hypothesis. Hypothesis 1 proposes adopted children have a schooling disadvantage compared to biological peers but the disadvantage is smaller among immigrants compared to U.S. natives. Hypothesis 2 tests whether adopted children of immigrant parents are more likely to fall behind in school compared to their peers with U.S. born parents. Hypothesis 3 suggests foreign born adoptees have less favorable schooling outcomes compared to adoptees born in the United States. Hypothesis 4 proposes minorities, especially Black face additional barriers of prejudice and discrimination and because of this realize the least educational gains when compared to white peers. • 17. Australia Is A Country That Is Diverse, Multicultural And... Australia is a country that is diverse, multicultural and unique. Our geography and cultural history are different to anywhere else, which has definitely captured the attention of the rest of the world. For migrants from diasporic communities, assimilating to the Western identity while trying to maintain the cultural heritage is not an easy task, especially during the 20th century, where racial discrimination played a large role in impeding multiculturalism. I believe my childhood experiences is an example of global framework where race, class and gender are the factors that made not only me, but mostly every other coloured child living in Australia felt like we were second class citizens . But because of such upbringings, my familial tie with my external family became more strong and made me who I am today. Primary school was not the best experience for me as I felt like I was already different for having been born overseas, and I wasn t about to accentuate this quirk any further. Like every other child of migrants from another country, I have felt the culture shock and alienation on the first couple of months of primary school. This estrangement was especially strong for me because my school was dominated by white kids. I was often picked on and laughed at because I couldn t speak any English. During P.E. (Physical Education) classes, I was either singled out or last to be picked because I wasn t one of them . I hated school. I felt unwanted because of my complexion. ... My first concert experience was overall pretty good. I had a difficult time recognizing selections so I had to stay for the full two hours. I ate a lot of Thai food. Appetizer, entree, and dessert... I would have felt like a pig if the couple seated next to be hadn t order over double the amount of food I did. Point being, I highly recommend Ayuthai Restaurant, and now onto my critique. The vocalist was no Billy Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald, but she was not half bad either! I was overjoyed whenever she joined the group. She sang two songs at the end of the first hour and then another two at the end of the second. I was finally able to recognize and write down some selections! I had not been able to recognize a simple musical piece played without her accompaniment. They were not playing any of the jazz standards that I knew. No Ain t Misbehavin , My Favorite Things, or Body and Soul... The first song she sang was one whose instrumentation I would have recognized, though. Orange Colored Skies is one of my favorites. • 19. Federal Funding And Private Investors specified in Proposition 1A. However, as time passes, the initial estimate is beginning to look like a low ball. The construction process has taken longer than expected up until this point, and that has many direct and indirect costs associated. Some of these include increased number of work hours, job site utilities, and equipment rentals (Cox). Because of this increase in price, the state of California has tried to match federal funding with private investors. This, however, has been a slow and uncertain process. Another overestimation on the side of the CAHSR is in train times. Cox argues that the CHSRA s anticipated average speeds are not being achieved anywhere in the world, even on the most advanced lines. He also states that the HSR would be unattractive to drivers in middle distance automobile markets because little or no door to door time savings would be achieved and costly local connections would often be required (rental cars or taxicabs). California lacks the extensive local transit infrastructure in the Central Valley that can be found in dense Asian and European areas; these smaller connecting systems are what make the high speed railso effective on other continents. Without them, it is a lengthier process for consumers to get to their end destination they have to use both the public transit and their own form of transportation. This could have a negative effect on ridership because consumers will forego the hassle of changing transportation methods and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This will also determine the weakness in muscles such as the plantarflexors, dorsiflexors, knee flexion, and knee extension. Also, range of motion will be tested on the tight muscles such as the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. When the muscles are tight, the runner will increase the risk of injury (Schipper, 2009). Gait analysis will be used to examine deficits to body function, stability, and describe how the patient will be running. This will help determine the patient s biomechanics and achieve adequate mobility. Lastly, we will perform a pain assessment to see what pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine whether the patient is minimizing stress on the body to achieve no pain at all while running. To monitor progress of these assessments, we must know that if these muscles are weak or become fatigued easily, there is less control of the leg and the risk of injury increases (Schipper, 2009, paragraph ... Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that as rational, moral beings, individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is consistent, individuals all live by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a moral law, we can thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of universal acceptability appears to be intertwined with echoes of the golden rule. Another famous theory developed by Kant further explaining the categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an end and never merely as a means. Individuals should never treat someone a special way in an effort to get gain. In other words, Kant developed the theory we hear in nursery school of, treat others as you would like to be treated. In 1908 the British army developed aircraft, a few years before in 1904 J. E. Cooper, from the British war office, visited the Wright Brothers. His aim was to bring back information and skills on aircraft. This did not happen because the Wright brothers asked for $100,000 for the method of aircraft and a further $100,000 for the formulae and theoretical knowledge. The war office was unwilling to pay this amount. Later, during the First World War, the aeroplane matured rapidly. Aeroplanes had to stand up to the war time maintenance. Improved development brought about the Lion powered eight passenger D.H.34 which had its first flight on March 26th, 1922 then went into service with Daimler Airway, just a week later, on April 2nd. This aeroplane type was also used by Instone and one was even exported to Russia. Handley Page designed and built the W.8, based on its own 0/400 series, which had two Eagle engines. The W.8 compared to the 0/400, had reduced wing span, better passenger accommodation and a single fin and rudder in place of the 0/400s box like structure. The W.8 had its first flight on 4th December 1919 and had limited service with Handley Page Transport. It was followed by three 12/14 seat Eagle powered W.8bs. It was in turn a modified Vimy bomber, the aircraft that was first to make a non stop transatlantic flight and England Australia flight. (Knight) The etic and emic orientated styles are two different styles that applied anthropologists use in their field work. The etic orientated approach is a perspective that in ethnography uses concepts and categories for the anthropologists culture to describe another culture. (Ferraro/Andretta) The emic orientated approach is a viewpoint in ethnography that uses the concepts and categories that are relevant and meaningful to the culture under analysis (Ferraro /Andreatta). One will need to look to the humanities to understand the culture. This turn to the humanities is an emic technique used in the field. Emic orientated investigations succeed because it engages applied anthropologists to live with and live like the people of the culture they are studying. It becomes a personal study under the emic practice. Being personally involved allows one to connect to the culture and why that culture thinks and performs a certain way. Emic orientated research fails because it gets too personal with its subjects. This can cause one to stop looking at its subjects as research to be analyzed but as people, which they are, to just befriend and not critically think about. One may begin sympathizing with those within the culture and not be able to learn about the culture from an outsider s point of view. It would be difficult from an emic view to understand why a family may be dehydrated if they are blaming their religious beliefs when they are in fact dehydrated because it has not rained for a month. Religion in this case would be an unreasonable rationale. You cannot understand a culture from just an etic approach; you need emic research methods as well in order to get accurate information to help you understand that culture. Etic and emic investigations both have their pros and cons, and together they compliment and support each other. The subsequent will look at readings that give examples of etic and emic studies. Competition As A Monopolistic Competition Competition in Smartphone Markets Introduction The competition in Smartphone Markets is a monopolistic competition, in which the products of each firm are differentiated and the entry barrier is free. Products competing in the network industries have network externalities. Accordingly, this essay will deal with the following aspects of the question. Initially, the concept of the monopolistic competition is present. Follow by the idea of the network effect theory. The multi sided market and the core business strategies is analyzed and finally, the examination of the future of the smartphone competition is shown. What is the monopolistic competition ? Monopolistic competition refers to a competition where monopoly exists, and is neither a perfect competition nor an oligopoly. As the market competition become intense, the distribution of resource becomes rational; therefore, the level of competition in the monopolistic competition is more intense than it is in the oligopoly and perfect competition (Roberts et al, 1977). Another reason caused this is that the products in the monopolistic competition can be easily replaced. Nowadays, smartphones of different brands are similar on their appearance, details and even functions. The conditions for a monopolistic competition to exist are as follows. Initially, the products in the competition have to be differentiated. The differences can be in the quality of the products, the appearance, the label or the sales conditions. ... International research and development are being conducted to come across the high capacity demand in transport network, mostly for 100 G Ethernet and beyond. The two main subjects that need to be identified to raise the data rate to 100 Gb/s per wavelength are. пѓ Bandwidth expansion One direct method for increasing the capacity of a system is to raise the transmission bandwidth per wavelength either optically or electronically. In optical communication, there are two broadly used techniques for increasing the capacity of the transmission. The first technique is to spread out the bandwidth by adding numerous optical carriers. This technique has already been slow and deployed and it is known as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Wavelength Division Multiplexing can benefit to extend the transmission bandwidth by adding various transceivers for the current optical fiber links deprived of the need to install other fiber links. WDM is considered as one of the most cost effective methods to raise the optical fiber link quantity. The second technique is to extend the electronic bandwidth per wavelength relying on the CMOS technology. However, the present digital to analog converters (DAC)/ (ADC) can only support upto 6 GHz bandwidth. It became a challenge to realize 100 Gb/s transmission in a cost effective manner.
