Essay On Texting
Writing an essay on the topic of texting might seem deceptively simple at first glance. After all,
texting is a ubiquitous aspect of modern communication, and one might assume that expressing
thoughts on it would flow effortlessly. However, delving into the intricacies of this seemingly
mundane subject can quickly reveal the complexities involved.
Firstly, the challenge lies in striking a balance between personal opinions and factual information.
Texting is a dynamic phenomenon, constantly evolving with technological advancements.
Keeping up with the latest trends, cultural shifts, and the impact of technology on
communication requires thorough research and analysis.
Crafting a coherent and engaging narrative is another hurdle. A successful essay on texting
should not merely list pros and cons or present a dry analysis of statistics. It needs to tell a
compelling story, weaving together various perspectives, historical contexts, and real-world
examples. This narrative skill demands a keen understanding of the audience, an ability to
empathize with diverse viewpoints, and the capacity to present information in a digestible
manner.
Moreover, addressing the potential societal implications of texting adds an extra layer of
complexity. How does texting influence relationships, language, or even mental health?
Navigating through these broader implications while maintaining a focused and structured
argument is a delicate task.
Additionally, there's the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and overly simplistic viewpoints.
Texting is often painted in broad strokes, either as a savior of communication or the downfall of
meaningful interaction. Crafting an essay that delves deeper, exploring nuances and
acknowledging the multifaceted nature of the topic, requires finesse and critical thinking.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the seemingly straightforward topic of texting may
initially appear uncomplicated, the process reveals itself as a nuanced endeavor. It demands a
blend of research skills, narrative craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of the broader
societal context. The key lies in presenting a unique perspective that goes beyond the surface,
offering readers a thoughtful and thought-provoking exploration of the subject.

Censorship Is Monitoring Or Withholding Information
Essay
Censorship is monitoring or withholding information. The information can come
from a book, drama, media, or any other form of entertainment; but it is usually
considered a threat to the consumer. Yet the consumer is not always the audience.
Sometimes the threat is to a politician or government official. The debate over
topics in the realm of what is acceptable and what should be banned only continues
to rise as more taboo topics become acceptable. Some argue that keeping certain
things behind closed doors is imperative for a harmonious living place. Others say
that a small discourse is critical to remain sane. Censorshipis a way of protecting
society from itself. Leaders and parental figures can make the choice to monitor
what is read, watched, and consumed, but until the world lives the life worthy of a
children s book the effort is futile. While the narrative being taught may be
inappropriate or harsher it doesn t decrease the value of it.
Arguments are shown throughout everyday life over every topic. The question isn
t, When will society stop fighting the norm? The question is, When will society
stop fighting change? The world evolves with every second. With that evolution
society blurs the line with what is acceptable and not. Sixty years ago the idea of
two boys kissing was the equivalent of burning a baby in church on a Sunday
morning. Today, two men kissing is celebrated with its own parade. Social norms
and ideals have been ripping down the cloak of
Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge
The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place,
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure
happiness, without a single worry in the world. I truly believe this one little trip
shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to our destination was long,
yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and downs.
About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee,
both of our iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it
was basically a straight shot to our destination. This long journey was full of
excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it... Show more content on

The vibe of the whole place was like the country, yet we were in the city. Although
Dollywood was exhilarating; Gatlinburg was a close second. Gatlinburg is really
where the city yet country atmosphere comes into play. We started our journey
passing through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and let me just tell you, it
was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky mountains. The
rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the
allure of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove
through because we were on our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first
destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium, because we are both fish lovers! We
spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking down the streets
of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the
both of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt
my boyfriend s favorite part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but
we didn t leave our cabin until about 11. There was this crazy clown game where
you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was extremely addictive.
Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. After this we spent the rest of
the afternoon shopping and engaging with the friendly people. Finally we were
exhausted, and returned to our cabin. Our last night was
The Pros And Cons Of Hydrogen Fuel Vehicles
Although Americans make up only 5% of the world s population, the US burns up
nearly 25% of the coal, 26% of the oil, and 27% of the world s natural gas ( The

re actively seeking out the most quintessential form of resource usage. Since doing
this however, our abundance of fossil fuels is severely diminishing. Although many
people are aware of this dangerous issue, whether a scientific professional or
everyday citizen, they tend to overlook the importance of the issue. Hydrogen fuel
cell vehicles are an optimal solution to this issue, despite the costs and labor issues
due to the vehicles being in an early stage of manufacturing. Hydrogen fuel cell

The most imperative quality of FCEVs is the fact that there are no greenhouse gas
emissions that are associated with hydrogen fuel cells (Lombardo, Crystal).
According to the article Fuel Cell... : Hydrogen produces no harmful tailpipe

because hydrogen is considered an alternative fuel under the Energy Policy Act of

Themes In A Lesson Before Dying
A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an
educated black man in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be
sentenced to death by electrocution, become a man by his godmother s wish before
he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel, Gaines introduces characters who
display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown throughout the novel.
One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s growth
propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and
Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One
example in A Lesson Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and
feelings toward his hometown of Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to
the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a Catholic church uptown for whites; a
Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the description of the
churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism. One
prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes
it as a slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s
death. Later on in the chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I
need to go someplace where I can feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that
Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from there. This may be because of the
racism and
Chocolat Journey
Through assigned text, the film Chocolat, and through my related texts, the graphic
novel Seconds by Bryan Lee O Malley, and the poem The Road Not Taken by
Robert Frost, the concept that an unexpected detour on a journey can lead to a
significant reward or outcome for the individuals is explored.
Seconds, a graphic novel by Bryan Lee O Malley, explores the idea that while on a
journey, an unexpected detour can lead to a significant reward for the individual.
The detour on the journey for the protagonist, Katie, in this text, is coming into
contact with a spirit who allows Katie to change one thing about her past. Katie to
abuses this power and she starts to realise how changing her past is changing her
present life. This brings her to a point, where she realises that she would be more
content with the life she had before she came to gain this power. The significant
reward for Katie, at the end of this journey, is being emotionally and spiritually
content with her life. This is similar to Chocolat, in which the protagonist, Vianne,
helps change certain things about the town, Lansquenet, to come to a point where she

persona in the poem picks the poem less travelled, which is similar to the path that
Vianne takes in Chocolat. Vianne is able to just go with what was considered the
norms of Lasquenet, but she insists on making a change, thus her choosing an

Life on a Military Base
As we sat on the sea wall, I noticed the look of discomfort in Jackson s eyes. Ever
since he had moved from Fort Bragg to my hometown, we had been best friends. It
was the summer of 7th grade and we were preparing to go on a school sponsored
fishing trip. As we stepped aboard the boat, Jackson pulled me away from the other
kids and in a hushed tone muttered, There s something I want to talk to you about. It
s my dad.
In that instant I knew. The mix of gravity and sorrow in his expression revealed
everything. Jackson explained that his father, a lieutenant colonel in the United
States Army, had been ordered to relocate to Germany for a new assignment. Like
many of my friends from military families, Jackson would move out of my life
within weeks, swept away by the needs of the United States military.
Growing up near Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, I met and befriended many
children like Jackson with military parents. To the average civilian, they were just
normal kids from military families, but to those familiar with military culture, they
were more commonly known as military brats . Used as a term of endearment and
respect within the military community, military brat is defined by Mary Edwards
Wertsch, author of the book Military Brats: Legacies of Childhood Inside the
Fortress, as the children of a military parent or parents who have served full time in
the United States armed forces. The term extends to both former and current children
of such parents, and is often

Outsourcing Jobs Causes a Negative Economic and Social Effect on American
Workers Do you work at the same company your father does? Does your father
work at the same company your Grandfather did? Few companies employ multiple
generations these days. Have you wondered what happened to all the jobs? One
reason for the decrease in jobs could be attributed to outsourcing. Merriam Webster s
Third New International Dictionary defines outsourcing as the procurement by a
corporation from outside and especially foreign or nonunion suppliers of parts it
formerly manufactured. To American workers, the definition means, you are
unemployed. This paper will look at some economic and social effects that job

Companies are not required to provide full benefit packages to temporary or part
time employees. Terminate a few long term employees and replace them with
temporary workers at lower wages. Temporary or part time workers generally receive
little or no benefit packages at all.
How do you search for a job when you have been out of the market for the past 20
years? More and more jobs today require college degrees. Many assembly line
workers started their jobs right out of high school, therefore, very few have college
degrees. It is harder to compete in today s job market. The insecurity of finding
employment is ever looming.
There are jobs that can be had rather quickly; i.e., low wage jobs like fast food or
retail. It is impossible to support a family on a minimum wage. Converting middle
wage jobs to foreign countries leaves a smaller job pool workers must fight to get
into. Once those jobs are gone the only thing left are high wage positions that
require degrees or low wages jobs that do not furnish enough income to be above
poverty level. How does this affect employees of the future?
There is a clichГ© that says, customer loyalty starts with employee loyalty. Working
for an employer that is outsourcing jobs around you creates a sense of mistrust.
Employees that mistrust the company will not feel loyalty to the entity that provides
the weekly paychecks. Lack of loyalty can take on many forms:

Essay about Symbols in the Briefcase in “Invisible
Man” by...
Towards the end of the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, the narrator who
remains unnamed thought the entire book, risks his life to save a briefcase filled
with seemingly random assorted items. But later in the book the narrator is forced
to burn the items in his briefcase in order to find his way out of a sewer he gets
stuck in. Closer reading reveals that the items in his briefcase are more than random
assorted items, but instead are symbols. Each one of those symbols represents a
point in the narrator s life where he is either betrayed or made invisible by the people
around him. Through the book the two main recurring themes are betrayal and
invisibility and the narrator keeps these symbols with him because they represent
who he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crowd continually asks him to repeat himself and at one point the narrator miss
speaks and says social equality instead of social responsibility. This immediate
arouses the whites in the crowd. When they yell threats at him he Denys what he
said and claims that the blood in his mouth caused him to misspeak. In this incident
the whites in the crowd immediately stop any variation from what they want to hear
coming out of the mouth of an African American. This is another way that he is
oppressed into being what people want him to be and therefore becoming invisible.
The narrator also feels betrayed when he sees Clifton with the doll. At that time the
narrator still considered himself a part of the brotherhood, and since the brotherhood
would never allow such a thing to be sold, Clifton is betraying the brotherhood and
also the narrator himself. Another symbolic item in the narrator s briefcase is the
Sambo doll that brother Clifton was selling illegally on the street. It is not the doll
itself, but instead the circumstances surrounding Clifton s death that make the doll
significant. Before his death, the narrator meets brother Clifton, and describes him as
the ideal man. He is educated, well dressed, muscular, and has a stylish swag about
him, that the narrator admires. But we don t know Clifton long before he is shot.
Clifton suddenly drops from his original
Faces and Voices in Faulkner’s Absalom, Absalom!

Faces and Voices in Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom!
While reading Absalom, Absalom! I was amazed at the number of times one of the
narrators would refer to faces or voices as being present rather than to the people
themselves. In almost every chapter this synecdoche appears, reducing many of the
characters to images, shadows and memories. I think Faulkner uses this device to
enhance the fact that the story is told from memory much of it from the point of view
of the characters childhoods.
On page 184, Mr. Compson tells the story of young Thomas Sutpen s family life. He
says he was just there, surrounded by the faces, almost all the faces which he had
ever known. I think the fact that Sutpen s father and sisters aren t referred to ... Show

To young Charles, his mother was the face filled with furious and almost unbearable
unforgiving and likened to all mother faces (239). His father s blank face upon
meeting him also becomes a point of conflict for Charles. Later, Judith wears a calm,
frozen face (150) for years after Charles s murder, never breaking until her father
finally comes home from the war.
Also, there is mention of voices talking in the novel, rather than people talking. In
many parts of the book, I think this device helps to conjure up the image of young
Rosa standing at the door eavesdropping. When her own family all but ignored her
and only spoke behind closed doors, it must have seemed to her that voices talked
more than actual people. Referring to voices independent of their owners also adds
to the haunted, ghostly aspect of the story as seen from Quentin s perspective. On
page 4 he says : the voice not ceasing but vanishing...and the ghost mused with
shadowy docility as if it were the voice which he haunted where a more fortunate one
would have had a house. It s almost as if you can hear the ghosts speaking through
Miss Rosa, telling their own story through her.
The synecdoche in Absalom, Absalom! is a device not usually found in Faulkner s
work. However, I think it adds atmosphere and tonal qualities to the book while
developing the characters sense of themselves and their relationships to other
characters.

The Arlington National Cemetery Home
The Arlington National Cemetery was established around the time of the Civil
War. The United States needed a place to bury all of the dead soldiers, so they laid
them down on the land of Robert E. Lee and his wife. Over the years, 300,000
soldiers have been buried there. They have also changed the qualifications to being
buried in the cemetery. There are even a few famous war heroes who are buried
there, not to mention the presidents who have been laid to rest. No matter how
important a person is, calling Arlington National Cemeteryhome is an honor. In this

The Union troops started marching in columns through Virginia towards their
destination of Arlington. The army took Arlington without a scratch and the next
morning it was flooded with Union members. The Union army soldiers stole
souvenirs from the mansion which were left behind from the Lees. Arlington soon
became a busy village full of army tents and even telegram posts connecting to the
War office. Arlington started losing some of its famous beauty as the soldiers
cleared many of the oak trees to clear a shooting path. With the fallen timber, they
built permanent cabins and posted remounting stations near the river for the
cavalry. Arlington was strengthened by the best to withstand against any attacking
force. (Poole) Many of the slaves who became free during the war, headed to the

the idea to settle the former slaves on the property of Arlington. They viewed this as
fitting, since Arlington was the former house of rebel leaders supporting slavery.
The established village became known as Freedmen s Village. Surprisingly,
Freedmen s Village had everything from schools and churches to houses and
farmland; the farmers would grow crops which would feed the Union soldiers.

term used to describe a cognitive disability in learning that affects reading, writing

covers many smaller forms of cognitive impairment including surface dyslexia,

dyslexia. Most dyslexics suffer from multiple forms of these specific dyslexias and
cases of pure developmental dyslexia are quite rare. (Castles, Bates, Coltheart,

Comparison Of Hester Prynne And Original Sin
Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, is a novel that portrays the Christian
beliefs of Original Sin. Much like Adam and Eve, Hester Prynne was a woman who
was ostracized from society due to her relationship with Arthur Dimmesdale.
Throughout her expulsion, Prynne gains sympathy for the poor, donating all of her
income to help them. The sympathy that Prynne gained is similar to the knowledge
that Adam and Eve gained about the good and evil in the world because in both
stories, the characters gain knowledge as a result of their sin. Similarly to The Scarlet
Letter, The House of the Seven Gables is based upon the Christian belief of Original
Sin. Characters like Judge Pyncheon and Clifford suffered due to the sins of Colonel

Judge Pyncheon died a very similar death to the one of Colonel Pyncheon and
lived a life full of anger and greed. Because the Colonel led a life filled with sin, his
descendants lived a life in which they had a tendency to sin and die a painful
death. Not only were the Colonel and the Judge similar in appearance, but also in
their personalities. Both men were very power hungry, malevolent people who
were willing to sin in order to get what they wanted. Clifford was a man who shared
no resemblance to Colonel Pyncheon, except his last name. He, much like Matthew
Maule, was punished for a crime that he did not commit by a Pyncheon. Clifford is
left to suffer from the sins of Colonel Pyncheon because of the imprisonment and
poor mental state that his death caused him. Being the accused murderer of
Colonel Pyncheon, Clifford was sent to prison where he was forced to suffer poor

Now let s rewind 50 years, back to the desolate setting of Corrigan. Put yourself in the
shoes of Charlie Bucktin, a young and frisky protagonist enduring a difficult journey
whilst observing the morality of Corrigan s people. Your pertinacious mind is an
uncompleted jigsaw puzzle. Each integral piece desirably wishes to connect to

remains barren with no clue on what the heck is going on. Then you start to change
and think differently. Instead of focusing on connecting the pieces, you look at how
each individual picture connects to another. You start to question the reasons as to
why everything happens. Why? Why is Corrigan so afraid of the notorious Mad Jack
Lionel? Why is discrimination against the Vietnamese a regular occurrence? Why is a
half caste so underappreciated amongst the community?
Then, one piece connects to another... which connects to another... that connects to
another. This image in your mind, is the exact same vision Craig Silvey contained
when he constructed Charlie Bucktin. A
The General Overhead And Construction Projects Essay
In the past, the general overhead in construction projects was not important compared
to project costs. However, with the new construction environment and its changes
such as the high usage of lean, BIM, and LEED, everything has changed. Nowadays,
most of the construction contractors are measuring their general overhead costsand
trying to control it. To gain profits, they started to allocate their general overhead
costs to different construction projects they are working on. In this paper, we
investigate how a construction company (general contractor) manages its general
overhead costs. Preceding this stage, we should provide few definitions of the
general overhead costs in order to give readers a deep insight of what this paper is
about. Moreover, it is essential to explain how construction contractors allocate their
general overhead costs to construction projects, what methods they tend to use for
allocating, and what advantages and disadvantages does every method have. Further,
we shift our focus to activity based costing method by defining it and describing its
steps. Since the main purpose of this paper is to examine how construction
contractors deal with their general overhead costs, an interview should be conducted
to know how contractors allocate general overhead costto construction projects to get
profits. Indeed, each construction contractor may use a specific method when
allocating. Due to our interest in estimating, the interview was conducted with a senior

Sugriva and helps him by killing his elder brother Vali thus regaining the kingdom of
Kiskindha, in exchange for helping Rama to recover Sita. However Sugriva soon
forgets his promise and spends his time in debauchery. The clever monkey Queen,
Tara, calmly intervenes to prevent an enraged Lakshmana from destroying the
monkeykingdom. She then eloquently convinces Sugriva to honor his pledge.
Sugriva then sends search parties to the four corners of the earth, only to return
without success from north, east and west. The southern search party under the
leadership of Angad and Hanuman learns from a vulture named Sampati that Sita was
taken to Lanka.
After learning about Sita, Hanuman assumes a gargantuan form and makes a
colossal leap across the ocean to Lanka. Here, Hanuman explores the demon s city
and spies on Ravana. He locates Sita in Ashoka grove, which is wooed and threatened
by Ravana and his rakshasis to marry Ravana. He reassures her, giving Rama s signet
ring as a sign of good faith. He offers to carry Sita back to Rama, however she
refuses, reluctant to allow herself to be
Deboer Polygamy Analysis
Despite Deboer s efforts on establishing several points in support of legalizing
polygamy, many of his statements are evidently flawed. Now that gay marriage has
been legalized he wants people to take on a new perspective pertaining to plural
marriages. However he introduces his argument by stating Polygamytoday stands as a
taboo just a strong as same sex marriagewas several decades ago (Deboer). His
outlook on both objectives is incorrect being that same sex marriage and plural
marriages are distinct in many different ways.unlike gay marriage polygamy deals
with a larger number of spouses, meaning that a man can have 30+ if he wishes to.
Whereas gay marriage still pertains to just two individuals in respects to that they are

Jason as the Foil of Medea Essay
Jason as the Foil of Medea In Medea, by Euripides, the two main characters Jason
and Media are forced to leave Lolkos and have taken refuge in Corinth. Jason has
the possibility of establishing a position of standing in the community by marrying
King Creon s daughter. Medea is enraged by Jason s betrayal of her and their two
children and she vows to stop the marriage and exact revenge. In the play, Medeaand
Jason are set up as foils. Medeais completely dependent on the dominance of
passion over reason. She is depicted as conniving, brilliant and powerful. In
contrast, Jason is portrayed as a a character of little feeling; he is passionless, obtuse,
witless, and weak. Medea first enters the play and greets... Show more content on

Later in the play Jason does the reasonable thing and tries to reconcile the problems
with Medea. He is obviously not aware that he has done anything wrong. He feels
he has merely done what any man in his place would do. Through his marriage to
the princess he is now the the heir to the throne of Corinth, which is ultimately
something that will benefit Medea and her children. He wants to regain status for
his family and give his children to opportunity to have royal lineage. Jason s plan
is to achieve a better life for himself and bring his children out of poverty. All of
this would eventually benefit Medea, and he does not understand why Medea can
not see things his way. QUOTE His contention is that his plan would have worked
out perfectly if Medea had only acted sensibly. He blames her for crying out for
justice and for making threats against the royal family. If she had not threatened
Creon and his daughter, Medea would not be facing exile. Because of Medea s
threats, Creon s animosity spreads to the children and he insists that they all be
sent away. Through their entire conversation Jason does not permit himself to be
controlled by passion. He keeps his head clear and simply lays down the facts. It is
not like him to let his feeling free play like Medea does. He is there to offer her
money and a tell her about her place of exile. He explains that it will be painful to see
his children go, but Medea
Participation Of A Democratic System Of Governance
Participation is more of how the youths conduct themselves during election in helping
them make informed decisions. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre
of decision making processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of
governance, rule by the people is the underlying and founding principle of democracy
. Engagement is about making them become agents of change, helping them ascend
to decision making institutions.
Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the
political and cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to
participation in general. For the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be
geared towards achieving levels relative to those of the rest of the population.
The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively
new priority but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and
democratic transitions.
Objectives
To train the youth to actively participate in elective position and governance
To increase the number of youths registering as political party members
To promote youth friendly community based development planning exercises in a
participative and inclusive manner (youth advisory boards)
To encourage the youths be agent of change in good governance and accountability
Scope of the Problem
Decreasing levels of youth participation in elections and shrinking membership in
political parties and traditional
Christmas Carol Movie Vs Book
The book and movie titled A Christmas Carol have many similarities. They also have
many differences. The main story takes place during Christmas time in each version
and also has a common character of Ebenezer Scrooge. One of the differences
between the versions include Ebenezer knowing more about Bob Cratchit in the
movie than in the original book. A Christmas Carolbook was written by Charles
Dickensin 1843 but the movie was a 1938 American film adaptation of Charles
Dickens work.
Ebenezer Scrooge is an elderly miser who learns the mistake of his ways on

Jack Doesn t Want For Start An Outbreak
Another Place, Another Time
Jack didn t want to start an outbreak. What eleven year old did? He didn t even
want to find The Kingdom. All he wanted was to get away from his babysitter,
Susanne. Now his whole town was infected with the Sickness, and it was all his fault.
He sat in his room, his back against the locked door, staring at his hands. The hands
were the first sign of Sickness. A slimy, black ooze would drip off your fingers,
seemingly coming from nowhere. He d seen it on his mom, and on Susanne, and on
the whole town. Now he saw it on himself. It spread up your arms and throughout
your body, turning your skin the color of midnight. You were still yourself then,
though. You were still you, until the Sicknessreached your brain.
Jack watched the black droplets splashing onto the ground and melting into the
floor boards. He knew he had to do something about the Sickness that had rapidly
taken his whole town. He swung his backpack over his back and put a cap on over
his fair haired head. Then he climbed out the window (thankfully, his room was on
the first floor) and started running towards the only place he could think to go: The
woods.
He recalled three weeks ago, when he had done the same. Jack had come to the
woods many times as a child. He loved the fresh air and cool breeze that came with
entering it. It reminded him of his father, who had gotten very sick and died a year
and three weeks before. On that day he had come here to be alone, and that s when
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
(b. February 13 or 14, 1766; d. December, 1834)
Overview
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus was a political/classical economist born in the
late 1760 s. He studied at several different schools in the areas of mathematics,
literature, and arts. Malthus was married in the early 1800 s and had three children.
Malthus is most famous for his theories on population growth and how he proposed
we go about controlling it. He later died in the 1830 s at the age of 68.
Childhood and Education
Thomas Malthus, more commonly called Robert, was born near Guildford, Surrey,
England. His parents, Daniel and Henrietta, had seven children in total with
Malthus being either the sixth or seventh in the line (different sources claim both as
true). Malthus and his siblings received their preliminary education at home
working with private tutors where he excelled primarily in literature and
mathematics despite the fact that he had a speech impediment due to a hair lip and
cleft palate. His tutor, Daniel Malthus, sent him to study with Richard Graves at
Claverton for a short while before sending him to Gilbert Wakefield at the
Dissenting Academy of Warrington in 1782. However, in 1783 the Warrington was
closed due to funding issues and a decline in students. There was, however, an
attempt at reviving the school in 1784 but was formally dissolved in 1786. In 1784
Malthus was admitted to Jesus College in Cambridge, where he studied under

Analysis Of A Sand County Almanac By Aldo Leopold
A Sand County Almanac Paper In 1949, Aldo Leopold published the book A Sand
County Almanac , a book which written as a firsthand explanation of the natural
resources and beauties that the Earth has to offer. This book dives into the issues
surrounding the disregard for natural wildlife and the need for conservation in order
for the natural world to progress and keep thriving. Leopold also talks about different
seasons and the beauty of individual animals he comes across, and how their survival
is a feat in itself. The importance of environmental conservation and the need to treat
naturewith care is a vibrant concept that will be explained throughout this paper, as

Land ethic asks that we include nature when we think about what we do as
individuals or as a community, and that we do what is ethically correct for not just
ourselves but also for the sake of the environment. The Bible also reflects this view,
as God asked Adam to be the caretaker of the Garden of Eden by giving him the
purpose of cultivating and protecting the land. Adam was able to, in a sense,
incorporate the concept of land ethic by considering his actions and making ethical
choices when taking care of the Garden as God had told him to. Also, the excerpt
from Proverbs proved that ethically sound individuals care for the needs of the
animals; most humans would not neglect other people they take care of, such as
children or parents, so taking care of an animal should be no different. Incorporating
animals into the household is essentially the concept Leopold was trying to explain,
as nature (the animal) becomes a part of the community (the household). A Sand
County Almanac also describes the need for conservation and appreciation of nature.
The simplistic beauty of nature cannot be appreciated with there is no concept of
land ethic in the world, as many aspects of nature would be threatened of quite
possibly destroyed. We, as humans, have the seemingly divine opportunity to care for
this land and be
Concept Of Culture And Organizational Analysis
3.0 LITRATURE REVIEW
3.1 Concept of culture and organizational analysis:
The concept of culture has been linked increasingly with the study of organisation
(Graves and Rouse, 1990). Nevertheless, Organisational culture is a set of beliefs,
values, and norms, together with symbols like dramatized events and personalities,
which represents the unique character of an organization, and provides the context
for action in it and by it (Deshpande and Webster, 1989; Ravasi and Schultz, 2006;
Xiaoming and Junchen, 2012). In other words, these organizational values in turn
form out the standard norms and guidelines for the organization that makes it distinct
from others (Van Maanen 1979).
Schein (2004), stated that functionalist believes that ... Show more content on

Finally, many definitions imply that organizational culture is multidimensional and
multileveled and includes many cognitive and symbolic strata. Hofstede (1980)
framework for analyzing organizational culture mentions two different types
dimensions of organizational culture: Individualism and Collectivism, which are
likely to influence the process of employees social categorization. Individualistic
organizational cultures focus on and reward employees personal accomplishments,
individual characteristics and abilities. This dimension is rather flexible, as
employees are allowed and encouraged to behave in their own personal way
(Chatman et al. 1998). Therefore, organizational membership is not salient and
personality traits are appreciated. As Markus and Kitayama (1991) argued that
individuals maintain their independence from others by attending to the self and by
discovering and expressing their unique inner attributes. Collectivistic organizational
cultures, on the other hand functionalist, belives that the general agreement of
acceptable actions and behaviors, which assure shared objectives, interchangeable
interests and commonalities among employees(Minkov and Hofstede
2011).functionalist believes that main priority of collectivistic cultures is
independence and cooperation and that organizational
The Pros And Cons Of Sharing Economy
The new wave of businesses and the myriad of terms which accompany co
production, collaborative consumption, on demand economy, now form today s
Sharing Economy; a hybrid of social exchanges and economic interests governed by
reputation systems. Its commercial agenda is significant as previous notions of
communitarian and cooperative vision which focused on personal experiential
exchanges are now defined by a small number of firms backed by large amounts of
venture capital. The sharing economy takes its inspiration from one tenet of the
Internet culture: a belief in the virtues of openness. Openness and sharing go hand in
hand: to make something is to stop it being a commodity. Economically, openness
has two roles: it is an alternative to commerce, but it also generates new forms of
commerce, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By producing we refer to the act of design, making and distribution of goods and
services. Consuming here refers to the maximum utilization of these resources and
assets. The industrialization of production has provided a wide array of choices to the
consumers in the aisles of stores. Being a consumer however meant having to
navigate through these choices presented to us and making the best decisions instead
of being a major role in the creation of these choices. As professor and political
theorist, Benjamin Barber, puts it that we are seduced into thinking that the right to
choose from a menu is the essence of liberty, but with respect to relevant outcomes,
the real power, and hence the real freedom, is in the determination of what s on the
menu. Consumers in the sharing economy do not have the option of trusting each
other based on institutional affiliations hence the reliance on reputation systems as
signalling mechanisms claimed to strengthen the fragile relationship between quality

A Biblical Study of Spiritual Gift of Tongues Essay
Continuists argue that the spiritual gift of tongues still continue today. To understand
this fully, we need to remind ourselves of the primary purpose of the spiritual gifts
and the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. Donald W. Burdick refutes the argument
of the cessationists using I Corinthians 13:8. According to him, we must notice,
however, that this verse does not say that tongues were to cease at the end of the
apostolic age. However, he also concluded that healings, tongues, interpretation of
tongues, prophecy, and other gifts which may have been objectively miraculous in
nature fade not due to the sagging spiritual life of the church as claimed by the
Pentecostals, but because they have fulfilled their purpose.
Argument 3: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, the people are willingly giving their lives away for the Gospel enduring
beatings and hardships, imprisonments and poverty. The Church in these places is
more like the Church in Smyrna [Rev 2:8], where believers suffered and died for the
faith. It is surely unjust to class them with the Laodicean church. What is true that
during every age, the Seven Churches provide examples and warnings to the Body of
Christ as types of faithfulness and failure.
Conclusion
Spiritual gift of tongue is surely an interesting topic. A thorough study of this topic
must be explored by the church to understand fully its biblical meaning, purpose,
characteristics, regulations, and life. Each believer of the church must understand
this doctrine so that they will be armed in battle or spiritual warfare. This gift was
given to the church by the God through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the birth of the
church, to validate the apostles as the messengers of God, with God s message. It is
also verified by various sources cited above that the glossolalia, or the tongue
speaking meant by Paul in his epistles were literal language known to man, a foreign
language that may not be known to the speaker that s why an interpreter who has the
gift of interpretation has to be present each time it happens to interpret the utterances,

An Analysis Of Yiyun Li s Book, Gold Boy, Emerald Girl,...
Yiyun Li s collection of short stories in Gold Boy, Emerald Girl share the common
theme of loneliness in a collection of short stories: Souvenir, Sweeping Past, and A
Man like Him. While the characters of each story encounter different hardships and
tragedies, each character seemed to show development. At first glance, they seemed
to have grown from their experiences. However, they eventually fall into a downward
spiral of regret and sorrow after having epiphanies of their mistakes. The identifiable
protagonists grief stricken experiences dramatically shift their perspective, becoming
hopeless in the harsh reality they have grown accustomed to.
Throughout the short stories, characters endure circumstances that allow them to
realize the unfairness of the world, ultimately causing a change in attitude. In
Souvenir, the protagonist finds herself in a shop purchasing a pack of condoms for
her mentally ill boyfriend while being followed by an old man. With the belief that
sacrificing something precious of herself such as her virginity, the teenager initially
felt that her love could save him from his mental illness. Those in the store around
her, however, forced humiliation upon her, especially the elderly man. Finally
becoming aware to those around her, she has an epiphany of those surrounding her in
addition to the society she lives in. Witnessing the differences in people s behaviors
and attitudes, she grasps the understanding that people are influenced by others
Modern Day American Political Warfare Examples
Political Warfare Blame, it s a commonly used word used to explain why many of
our expectations go wrong in communities, but the most common group of people
oftenly blamed for causing troubles is politicians. Blaming politicians for a majority
of problems often leads to a divided opinion, some may believe their problems were
solved thanks to the politician while others blame politicians for making their
problems worse. Eventually the conflict between opinions leads to violence among a
community. Although both political parties attempt to make their opinion appear as
the superior opinion by using violence and discrimination, it solves absolutely
nothing for their cause. The modern day United States society is an example of

Ancient Greek Athletes
Although the competitors in ancient Greek athletics and modern body building are
different in many ways, they do have a common mindset when it comes to
competition, building strength, and sculpting their bodies with pride as their
motivator. Despite this common mindset, there are some differences between modern
bodybuildingand ancient Greek athletics such as the level of participation amongst
women. These men have pride instilled in them at a very early age and eventually
become obsessed with their self image. Once this type of person does grow up, they
make every decision based on their idea of what a man should do.

The Core Theme Of Power In Peter Jackson s Faramir
And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire
power (Jackson 2001). Galadriel, drawing upon the trilogy s core theme of power,
makes an excellent point and Peter Jackson agrees, for in his cinematic rendition of
The Twin Towers, Jackson highlights the solidarity of men in their epic power
struggle against themselves. In so doing, the film renders Faramirnearly
unrecognizable: he clutches Gollum by the throat and lobs him against a wall, takes
Frodo and Sam directly to Gondor, and yet elects to permit their escape at the end on
pain of his own death. As the Lord of the Ringscore concept is power and how it
affects those that surround it, Jackson drives these points home in the movie, electing
to utilize Faramir s, and in extension, man s incomprehension of power to underscore
how men must fight and solve their own war independent of Middle Earths other
creatures.
Of the power struggle over the ring, there are those who are willing to defend it
and those who are willing to sell their soul for it. Thus, when Peter Jackson
analyzed the prominent characters, it made sense to fashion Faramir with a
vulnerability like the other main characters he must be goaded to some extent by
the ring just like other men. Besides serving as the Steward of Gondor, Faramir had
no special abilities, and accordingly, it would be inconsistent for a ring of such
power to tempt everybody except for Faramir. Hence, adding scenes in which Faramir
succumbs to its

Locals may feel disturbed by tourists, be penalized and in extreme cases they will be
prepared to leave the region. The Mediterranean area is a good example as the locals
are penalized to access the area which is full of hotels for visitors.
2. What is the tourism development in Turkey (Mediterranean Area)?
Nowadays Turkey is a very important tourist destination with the Mediterranean and
Aegean regions as main destination.
Turkey is even the fourth most important destination in the Mediterranean region and
the sixth in Europe , following France, Spain, Italy, the UK and Germany.
In the last two decades there has been a rapid growth in the Turkish tourism
development, while according to....the number of foreign tourists amounted 4.8
million in 1990, in 2005 the number of visitors increased up to 20.3 million.
The major important tourists of turkey come from Germany, Russia, United

In the global tourism a significant growth has been started since the end of the
Second World War, namely after the commercial airline industry and the advent of the

governments and entrepreneurs decided to invest in the tourism sector.

true evidence. What he saw could have been merely a simple soldiers along with the
rest of them.

way they can win the war. 6.According to Robert Goddard, why did Captain Preston
give the order to fire? According to Robert Goddard, The Captain fired because an
estimated group of 50 boys were all throwing snowballs and the group, and the
Captain warned them to stop, and when they didn t, he supposedly fired.
7.How were the testimonies of Daniel Calef and William Wyat similar? They are
similar because both men think that Captain Preston gave the order to fire. Both men
are convinced that the officer was with his soldiers at the time, and that the shooting

Chapter One Introduction
1. Back ground
In present competitive world and business environment things would not move in a

Thus, it is more important now than at any time in the history of marketing to really
understand your target market and to let this understanding drive not only your
marketing decisions, but the entire decision making framework of the company.
(Hiebing Cooper, 2004:4).
Since the preference of customers vary from time to time and meeting their needs,
wants and expectation is an impressive challenge to service providers, strategic
thinking of marketing could be the best way to find the right track as competition is
stiffer than the past trend. One to this developing marketing strategy is crucial in
business firms and as Orville C.Walker, Jr., et,al explained the primary focus of
marketing strategy is to effectively allocate and coordinate marketing resources and
activities to accomplish the firms objectives with in a specific product market.
Therefore, the critical issue concerning the scope of a marketing strategy is
specifying the target market(s) for a particular product or product line. Next, firms
seek competitive advantage and synergy through a well integrated program of
marketing mix elements (Primarily the 4Ps of product, price, place, promotion)
tailored to the needs and wants of potential customers in that target market. (2004:12).
As the study of this paper is attributed to service providing firms like Tikur Abay

service from theoretical point of view. Thus for an
Shadowhunters Research Paper
Preface
Everyone knows the world has an evil side but only a few know just how evil.
Demons exist, though a pure demon is now a rare thing, most of the bloodlines have
been tainted and are now full of half breeds called downworlders. Vampires, Fairies,
Wizards, Shifters, Werewolves and more walk the earth and mundanes, or humans,
see them as other humans. Only other downworlders or Shadowhunters can see them
in their true form.
Shadowhunters, now that is a special breed! They are an advanced race of humans
called Nephilim, born with angel blood. They have the ability to use magic runes,
burned into their bodies by an angel weapon called a stele, to help protect them and
give them strength. They were tasked with defending the mundanes, or humans, of
the world and keeping the downworlders in check. Their job was difficult and
dangerous and their numbers had dwindled greatly over the years. Though very few
of the Shadowhunters remained, they still did all they could ... Show more content on

Lucian and Valentine were parabatai a pair of Nephilim who take an oath to fight
side by side, willing to lay down their lives for one another without hesitation,
bound as fighting partners for life. Parabatai are rare as the pair has to be chosen
when they are under the age of eighteen. To have a Parabatai is considered a blessing
of the angel Raziel upon the pair and they must vow and unbreakable oath before the
Shadowhunter council.
Young and idealistic Valentine, Lucian, and Jocelyn felt that the Shadowhunter laws
needed to be updated and had begun the process of meeting with the Clave council to
voice their ideas. Of course, as they were young, they didn t feel like they were being
taken seriously and got frustrated. Lucian and Jocelyn were okay with continuing to
work at getting the council to change its mind but Valentine, he was not content to go

William Wallace Quotes
Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway. When I hear that quote,
there s one person that stands out to me, William Wallace. You may know
everything about him, some about him, or absolutely nothing. William Wallace
was Scottish and lost his father at a very young age. Of course, he didn t agree
with the government at this time, which he never does in his life span. His
independence, strength, and courage will be seen in astonishing ways. As you can
tell, his life was pretty difficult, losing his father so early in life and growing up
without him. Later in his life, he grew strong and found the love of his life, Marion
Braidfute. They married in secret because her parents did not approve of him. Shortly
after the two were
Realism In Theatre In The 1920s And 30s
In the 19th and 20th century, realism in theatre was a common occurrence. Realism
is presenting a person, thing, or event in its true colors ( Realism ). Even throughout
the Great Depression, Broadway and theaters managed to stay afloat. Its popularity
began to surge, and there were 200 to 275 new shows coming out per year (Early
20th Century Theatre). Most of these shows were strictly for entertainment. Themes
were often romantic, about happy endings and true love. However, some productions
began to turn away from the stereotypes of shows during this time. In the 1920s and
30s, shows became more extravagant and helped influence some of the most iconic
American productions (Theatre of the 20th Century and Beyond). As a result, shows

Essay On Noise Pollution
Abstract
Noise is responsible for hidden and or obvious damages. Hearing loss and tinnitus
greatly depend on the level of sound (dB) and duration of sound . Short duration
sound of decent intensity primarily a gunshot or explosion will not be described
because they are not currently encountered in our normal urban environment.
Introduction Noise pollution is a type of pollution that doesn t get a lot of attention
because many people don t see it as a problem. Although it may not seem a major
problem to many, to other people it is a major problem because of the health
problems and defects and disorders caused by the little amount of sleep these people
may be getting. The exact definition of noise is, Noise pollution is an unwanted or
disturbing sound which can interfere with normal activities for humans and wildlife,
such as sleeping, conversation, reproduction, communication, or disrupt or diminish
one s quality of life. Some of these side effects of noise pollution can compare to
other common pollution types such as air pollution or water pollution. They could
even be more severe at times depending on exactly how much sound or noise is
being endured. Many causes of noise pollution include but are not limited to; cars,
jets, airplanes, dumpster trucks, sirens, construction work, city buses, city rush hour
and/or work, commercial 16 wheeler trucks, etc. Many effects of of noise pollution

Erving Goffman s Forms Of Talk
Erving Goffman was born on June 11, 1922 in Manville, Alberta Canada. His
parents were Ukrainian Jews whom joined the great influx of Russians into Canada,
prior to the turn of the century. His family moved to Dauphin, in Manitoba Canada
where his father was the owner of a fairly, successful tailoring business.
After Goffman completed three years in high school in Winnipeg, due to his
academics exceeding he could enroll as a student at the University of Manitoba,
chemistry was his major. During the first year of World War II he dropped out of
school to move back to Ottawa, where he began to work for the National Film

Disadvantages Of The Euro
The Euro can be determined as the official currency of the Eurozone. In this context,
it includes 19 member states of EU. It was in the year 1998 when European leaders
agreed on introducing 11 countries to the euro. There are many benefits that countries
get with single currency. It includes the cost related to changing currencies which is
eliminated. Further, there is price transparency and eliminates exchange rate
uncertainty. On the other hand, there are disadvantages that includes transition cost,
single policy effects other countries.
The most common exchange rates implemented are the floating, pegged and fixed
exchange rate. The pegged exchange rate is implemented through matching your
exchange rate to another usually more stable currency such as the euro or the dollar.
Whereas a fixed exchange rate is implemented through the government or the central
bank. Lastly the floating is set by the FOREX.
PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) is a type of economy theory in which the price
level of two countries needs to be same to each other and that also after exchange
rate adjustment. Main aim of this theory is the law of one price. For example, they
aim at making the cost identical good to be same in the world. prices of goods sold
in different countries, converted to a common currency, should be identical . As
shown in this theory, if there is large difference between the price of same products
among two countries even after exchange rate adjustment, then there is arbitrage

An Analysis of Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is presented in the Victorian Period of England. It is a
novel which tells the story of a child s maturation into adulthood. Jane s developing
personality has been shaped by her rough childhood. She has been influenced by
many people and experiences. As a woman of her time, Jane has had to deal with the
strain of physical appearance. This has a great effect on her mental thinking and
decision making. Jane Eyre s cognitive and physical attributes have been affected by
her environment throughout her life.

Edward Rochester s daughter, Adele, is a constant reminder of his ex wife s affair.
Mr. Rochester finds pleasure in parties and traveling. He has obtained his fortune
through his deceased father. Gentlemen inherit money and land and are born into the
upper class. This is Jane s beginning of a new life on her own.
Jane s growth throughout the novel will reflect back to her childhood. B.F. Skinner,
the psychologist, explains that a person s history of environmental interactions
controls his of her behavior. A person s behavior is followed by a consequence. The
nature of the consequence modifies the person s tendency to change or repeat the
actions in the future (Stanford Encyclopedia). Jane is nurtured by the people around
her and the problems she encounters. Jane has lived a secluded life: isolated from
family, isolated from luxury, and isolated from love. When Jane enters a new world
of unexpected scenarios, she does not yet know how to react.
As a governess, Jane is shown the life of the luxurious. Mr. Rochester s mansion is
overwhelming, and his parties are extravagant. Mr. Rochester speaks to her
frequently, because he needs someone to listen to him. When Edward reveals to Jane
his former cheating wife, she feels a connection to him on personal level. Jane has
never felt this since her relationship with Helen Burns at Lowood. Jane becomes

In turn, Comfort s historical background stays well conserved and appreciated. Both
non native and natives actively take part in the preservation of Comfort s German
heritage, including buildings, monuments, and customs. One of the town s more
preserved areas is High Street or Main Street, sometimes humorously deemed
downtown. High Street is home to Comfort s historical district. The first original
buildings of the settlement line the street, including Ingeinhut s General Store, the
Comfort Common (the town s first hotel,) and the opera house. Other points of
interest include the old post office, the Comfort Public Library, and the soda shop.
Stained and cracked with age, these large limestone buildings display obvious
German architecture reminiscent of the early the late 1800s. The most famous spot
on High Street, though, and the center of my research, is somewhat of a hole in the
wall. Covered in such publications as Texas Monthly and Southern Living, Gael s
Comfort Barber Shop, established in 1906, seems to be the center of High Street
popularity. The owner, Gael Montana, is the third owner of the barber shop in
almost one hundred years of operation. She, along with friend and co worker Jim

companionship, and a place to relax in this one room
Role Of Purification In The Odyssey
Was it an Overreaction?
In the twenty second book of the Odyssey, Odysseus, having returned to Ithaca,
commences his plan to kill the suitors that have been plaguing his house for so long.
One of the main reasons Odysseus does this, in addition to serving justice, is for the
reason of purifying his house. However, is the way in which Odysseus goes about
purifying his house perhaps too harsh for slaughtering all of the suitors, too lenient
for sparing the herald and the bard, or are his actions virtuous and appropriate?
First of all, this paper will examine Odysseus words at lines 32 42 for why Odysseus
might be totally appropriate in his level of purification, then Eurymachus speech at

Also Homer s use of the words their necks were in the noose is interesting, because
there are possibly two layers of figurative meaning. The more shallow layer refers
to the suitors being snared in a trap they can t escape, not being able to run from
their deaths, repeated in the next phrase their doom sealed (35). Taking a deeper
look, however, it is possible that the example of necks in a noose is meant to
compare the suitors to the people who usually are in the predicament of being
hung, in fewer words, criminals. Odysseus then seems to cut through this panic
with his dark look , possibly showing his disgust with the situation. He then shouts
back, You dogs! You never imagined I d return from Troy (37), Homer, both
through his narrative and Odysseus voice repeatedly driving home the suitors
disregard for the future. He also seems to compare this sort of behavior with the
behavior of animals. Odysseus steps his charges up even more, saying so cocksure
, calling them arrogant, that you bled my house to death (38), even to the point of
wrongdoing. He then says you wooed my wife behind my back while I was still
alive! (38 39), maybe going along

African American Male and Crime Justice System
Introduction
The past quarter century has seen an enormous growth in the American incarceration
rate. Importantly, some scholars have suggested that the rate of prison growth has
little to do with the theme of crime itself, but it is the end result of particular U.S.
policy choices. Clear (2007) posits that these policy choices have had well defined
implications for the way prison populations have come to replicate a concentrated
occurrence among specified subgroups in the United States population in particular
young black men from deprived communities (p. 49).
All societal groups are affected by the issue of imprisonment, but it is a far more
likely occurrence among marginalized cultural groups, particularly African
Americans. As the United States celebrates the nation s triumph over race with the
selection of Barack Obama as the first African Americanmale president, a majority of
young black males in major American cities are locked behind bars, or categorized
felons for life (Alexander, 2010, p. 1). Bonczar and Beck (1997) report that:
Black men are seven times likely to go to prison than are white men; black women
are eight times likely to go than are white women. The lifetime likelihood of
incarceration for aggregate numbers requires some getting used to. If today s
imprisonment stays stable, nearly one third of black males

Essay On Texting.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Texting Writing an essay on the topic of texting might seem deceptively simple at first glance. After all, texting is a ubiquitous aspect of modern communication, and one might assume that expressing thoughts on it would flow effortlessly. However, delving into the intricacies of this seemingly mundane subject can quickly reveal the complexities involved. Firstly, the challenge lies in striking a balance between personal opinions and factual information. Texting is a dynamic phenomenon, constantly evolving with technological advancements. Keeping up with the latest trends, cultural shifts, and the impact of technology on communication requires thorough research and analysis. Crafting a coherent and engaging narrative is another hurdle. A successful essay on texting should not merely list pros and cons or present a dry analysis of statistics. It needs to tell a compelling story, weaving together various perspectives, historical contexts, and real-world examples. This narrative skill demands a keen understanding of the audience, an ability to empathize with diverse viewpoints, and the capacity to present information in a digestible manner. Moreover, addressing the potential societal implications of texting adds an extra layer of complexity. How does texting influence relationships, language, or even mental health? Navigating through these broader implications while maintaining a focused and structured argument is a delicate task. Additionally, there's the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and overly simplistic viewpoints. Texting is often painted in broad strokes, either as a savior of communication or the downfall of meaningful interaction. Crafting an essay that delves deeper, exploring nuances and acknowledging the multifaceted nature of the topic, requires finesse and critical thinking. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the seemingly straightforward topic of texting may initially appear uncomplicated, the process reveals itself as a nuanced endeavor. It demands a blend of research skills, narrative craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of the broader societal context. The key lies in presenting a unique perspective that goes beyond the surface, offering readers a thoughtful and thought-provoking exploration of the subject. • 2. Censorship Is Monitoring Or Withholding Information Essay Censorship is monitoring or withholding information. The information can come from a book, drama, media, or any other form of entertainment; but it is usually considered a threat to the consumer. Yet the consumer is not always the audience. Sometimes the threat is to a politician or government official. The debate over topics in the realm of what is acceptable and what should be banned only continues to rise as more taboo topics become acceptable. Some argue that keeping certain things behind closed doors is imperative for a harmonious living place. Others say that a small discourse is critical to remain sane. Censorshipis a way of protecting society from itself. Leaders and parental figures can make the choice to monitor what is read, watched, and consumed, but until the world lives the life worthy of a children s book the effort is futile. While the narrative being taught may be inappropriate or harsher it doesn t decrease the value of it. Arguments are shown throughout everyday life over every topic. The question isn t, When will society stop fighting the norm? The question is, When will society stop fighting change? The world evolves with every second. With that evolution society blurs the line with what is acceptable and not. Sixty years ago the idea of two boys kissing was the equivalent of burning a baby in church on a Sunday morning. Today, two men kissing is celebrated with its own parade. Social norms and ideals have been ripping down the cloak of
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to our destination was long, yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and downs. About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee, both of our iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it was basically a straight shot to our destination. This long journey was full of excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vibe of the whole place was like the country, yet we were in the city. Although Dollywood was exhilarating; Gatlinburg was a close second. Gatlinburg is really where the city yet country atmosphere comes into play. We started our journey passing through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and let me just tell you, it was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky mountains. The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium, because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt my boyfriend s favorite part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but we didn t leave our cabin until about 11. There was this crazy clown game where you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was extremely addictive. Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. After this we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and engaging with the friendly people. Finally we were exhausted, and returned to our cabin. Our last night was
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Hydrogen Fuel Vehicles Although Americans make up only 5% of the world s population, the US burns up nearly 25% of the coal, 26% of the oil, and 27% of the world s natural gas ( The State... ). In an era where humans are using up more resources than we possess, they re actively seeking out the most quintessential form of resource usage. Since doing this however, our abundance of fossil fuels is severely diminishing. Although many people are aware of this dangerous issue, whether a scientific professional or everyday citizen, they tend to overlook the importance of the issue. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are an optimal solution to this issue, despite the costs and labor issues due to the vehicles being in an early stage of manufacturing. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are much more beneficial and environmentally safe than regular conventional vehicles.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most imperative quality of FCEVs is the fact that there are no greenhouse gas emissions that are associated with hydrogen fuel cells (Lombardo, Crystal). According to the article Fuel Cell... : Hydrogen produces no harmful tailpipe exhaust; the only emit warm air and water vapor. This is an extremely important factor, because the continuation and long term use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will result in a cleaner atmosphere, and overall cleaner air for all living organisms to breathe. It also states that people are able to use hydrogen as a fuel source, because hydrogen is considered an alternative fuel under the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are an optimal solution to the continuously growing environmental problems of conventional vehicles. The use of hydrogen as a type of fuel can cleanse our atmosphere by only emitting water as a form of tailpipe exhaust, deterring the deterioration of the health of all organisms. And simply with time, knowledge, and a little perseverance, we can all save the world, one vehicle at a
  • 5. Themes In A Lesson Before Dying A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an educated black man in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be sentenced to death by electrocution, become a man by his godmother s wish before he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel, Gaines introduces characters who display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown throughout the novel. One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s growth propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One example in A Lesson Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and feelings toward his hometown of Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a Catholic church uptown for whites; a Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the description of the churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism. One prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes it as a slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s death. Later on in the chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I need to go someplace where I can feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from there. This may be because of the racism and
  • 6. Chocolat Journey Through assigned text, the film Chocolat, and through my related texts, the graphic novel Seconds by Bryan Lee O Malley, and the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, the concept that an unexpected detour on a journey can lead to a significant reward or outcome for the individuals is explored. Seconds, a graphic novel by Bryan Lee O Malley, explores the idea that while on a journey, an unexpected detour can lead to a significant reward for the individual. The detour on the journey for the protagonist, Katie, in this text, is coming into contact with a spirit who allows Katie to change one thing about her past. Katie to abuses this power and she starts to realise how changing her past is changing her present life. This brings her to a point, where she realises that she would be more content with the life she had before she came to gain this power. The significant reward for Katie, at the end of this journey, is being emotionally and spiritually content with her life. This is similar to Chocolat, in which the protagonist, Vianne, helps change certain things about the town, Lansquenet, to come to a point where she is content ... Vianne is able to just go with what was considered the norms of Lasquenet, but she insists on making a change, thus her choosing an inconvenient
  • 7. Life on a Military Base As we sat on the sea wall, I noticed the look of discomfort in Jackson s eyes. Ever since he had moved from Fort Bragg to my hometown, we had been best friends. It was the summer of 7th grade and we were preparing to go on a school sponsored fishing trip. As we stepped aboard the boat, Jackson pulled me away from the other kids and in a hushed tone muttered, There s something I want to talk to you about. It s my dad. In that instant I knew. The mix of gravity and sorrow in his expression revealed everything. Jackson explained that his father, a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, had been ordered to relocate to Germany for a new assignment. Like many of my friends from military families, Jackson would move out of my life within weeks, swept away by the needs of the United States military. Growing up near Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, I met and befriended many children like Jackson with military parents. To the average civilian, they were just normal kids from military families, but to those familiar with military culture, they were more commonly known as military brats . Used as a term of endearment and respect within the military community, military brat is defined by Mary Edwards Wertsch, author of the book Military Brats: Legacies of Childhood Inside the Fortress, as the children of a military parent or parents who have served full time in the United States armed forces. The term extends to both former and current children of such parents, and is often

Outsourcing Jobs Causes Negative Economic Effect 2,060 words/9 pages Outsourcing Jobs Causes a Negative Economic and Social Effect on American Workers Do you work at the same company your father does? Does your father work at the same company your Grandfather did? Few companies employ multiple generations these days. Have you wondered what happened to all the jobs? One reason for the decrease in jobs could be attributed to outsourcing. Merriam Webster s Third New International Dictionary defines outsourcing as the procurement by a corporation from outside and especially foreign or nonunion suppliers of parts it formerly manufactured. To American workers, the definition means, you are unemployed. This paper will look at some economic and social effects that job outsourcing have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companies are not required to provide full benefit packages to temporary or part time employees. Terminate a few long term employees and replace them with temporary workers at lower wages. Temporary or part time workers generally receive little or no benefit packages at all. How do you search for a job when you have been out of the market for the past 20 years? More and more jobs today require college degrees. Many assembly line workers started their jobs right out of high school, therefore, very few have college degrees. It is harder to compete in today s job market. The insecurity of finding employment is ever looming. There are jobs that can be had rather quickly; i.e., low wage jobs like fast food or retail. It is impossible to support a family on a minimum wage. Converting middle wage jobs to foreign countries leaves a smaller job pool workers must fight to get into. Once those jobs are gone the only thing left are high wage positions that require degrees or low wages jobs that do not furnish enough income to be above poverty level. How does this affect employees of the future? There is a clichГ© that says, customer loyalty starts with employee loyalty. Working for an employer that is outsourcing jobs around you creates a sense of mistrust. Employees that mistrust the company will not feel loyalty to the entity that provides the weekly paychecks. Lack of loyalty can take on many forms:

  • 10. Essay about Symbols in the Briefcase in “Invisible Man” by... Towards the end of the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, the narrator who remains unnamed thought the entire book, risks his life to save a briefcase filled with seemingly random assorted items. But later in the book the narrator is forced to burn the items in his briefcase in order to find his way out of a sewer he gets stuck in. Closer reading reveals that the items in his briefcase are more than random assorted items, but instead are symbols. Each one of those symbols represents a point in the narrator s life where he is either betrayed or made invisible by the people around him. Through the book the two main recurring themes are betrayal and invisibility and the narrator keeps these symbols with him because they represent who he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The crowd continually asks him to repeat himself and at one point the narrator miss speaks and says social equality instead of social responsibility. This immediate arouses the whites in the crowd. When they yell threats at him he Denys what he said and claims that the blood in his mouth caused him to misspeak. In this incident the whites in the crowd immediately stop any variation from what they want to hear coming out of the mouth of an African American. This is another way that he is oppressed into being what people want him to be and therefore becoming invisible. The narrator also feels betrayed when he sees Clifton with the doll. At that time the narrator still considered himself a part of the brotherhood, and since the brotherhood would never allow such a thing to be sold, Clifton is betraying the brotherhood and also the narrator himself. Another symbolic item in the narrator s briefcase is the Sambo doll that brother Clifton was selling illegally on the street. It is not the doll itself, but instead the circumstances surrounding Clifton s death that make the doll significant. Before his death, the narrator meets brother Clifton, and describes him as the ideal man. He is educated, well dressed, muscular, and has a stylish swag about him, that the narrator admires. But we don t know Clifton long before he is shot. Clifton suddenly drops from his original
  • 11. Faces and Voices in Faulkner’s Absalom, Absalom! Essay Faces and Voices in Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom! While reading Absalom, Absalom! I was amazed at the number of times one of the narrators would refer to faces or voices as being present rather than to the people themselves. In almost every chapter this synecdoche appears, reducing many of the characters to images, shadows and memories. I think Faulkner uses this device to enhance the fact that the story is told from memory much of it from the point of view of the characters childhoods. On page 184, Mr. Compson tells the story of young Thomas Sutpen s family life. He says he was just there, surrounded by the faces, almost all the faces which he had ever known. To young Charles, his mother was the face filled with furious and almost unbearable unforgiving and likened to all mother faces (239). His father s blank face upon meeting him also becomes a point of conflict for Charles. Later, Judith wears a calm, frozen face (150) for years after Charles s murder, never breaking until her father finally comes home from the war. Also, there is mention of voices talking in the novel, rather than people talking. In many parts of the book, I think this device helps to conjure up the image of young Rosa standing at the door eavesdropping. When her own family all but ignored her and only spoke behind closed doors, it must have seemed to her that voices talked more than actual people. Referring to voices independent of their owners also adds to the haunted, ghostly aspect of the story as seen from Quentin s perspective. On page 4 he says : the voice not ceasing but vanishing...and the ghost mused with shadowy docility as if it were the voice which he haunted where a more fortunate one would have had a house. It s almost as if you can hear the ghosts speaking through Miss Rosa, telling their own story through her. The synecdoche in Absalom, Absalom! is a device not usually found in Faulkner s work. Throughout her expulsion, Prynne gains sympathy for the poor, donating all of her income to help them. The sympathy that Prynne gained is similar to the knowledge that Adam and Eve gained about the good and evil in the world because in both stories, the characters gain knowledge as a result of their sin. Both men were very power hungry, malevolent people who were willing to sin in order to get what they wanted. Clifford was a man who shared no resemblance to Colonel Pyncheon, except his last name. Now let s rewind 50 years, back to the desolate setting of Corrigan. Put yourself in the shoes of Charlie Bucktin, a young and frisky protagonist enduring a difficult journey whilst observing the morality of Corrigan s people. Your pertinacious mind is an uncompleted jigsaw puzzle. Each integral piece desirably wishes to connect to another, to complete the entire picture. But nothing connects together, your mind remains barren with no clue on what the heck is going on. Then you start to change and think differently. Instead of focusing on connecting the pieces, you look at how each individual picture connects to another. You start to question the reasons as to why everything happens. Why? Why is Corrigan so afraid of the notorious Mad Jack Lionel? Why is discrimination against the Vietnamese a regular occurrence? Why is a half caste so underappreciated amongst the community? Then, one piece connects to another... which connects to another... that connects to another. Nowadays, most of the construction contractors are measuring their general overhead costsand trying to control it. To gain profits, they started to allocate their general overhead costs to different construction projects they are working on. In this paper, we investigate how a construction company (general contractor) manages its general overhead costs. Preceding this stage, we should provide few definitions of the general overhead costs in order to give readers a deep insight of what this paper is about. Moreover, it is essential to explain how construction contractors allocate their general overhead costs to construction projects, what methods they tend to use for allocating, and what advantages and disadvantages does every method have. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre of decision making processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of governance, rule by the people is the underlying and founding principle of democracy . Engagement is about making them become agents of change, helping them ascend to decision making institutions. Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the political and cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to participation in general. For the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be geared towards achieving levels relative to those of the rest of the population. The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively new priority but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and democratic transitions. Land ethic asks that we include nature when we think about what we do as individuals or as a community, and that we do what is ethically correct for not just ourselves but also for the sake of the environment. The Bible also reflects this view, as God asked Adam to be the caretaker of the Garden of Eden by giving him the purpose of cultivating and protecting the land. Adam was able to, in a sense, incorporate the concept of land ethic by considering his actions and making ethical choices when taking care of the Garden as God had told him to. Also, the excerpt from Proverbs proved that ethically sound individuals care for the needs of the animals; most humans would not neglect other people they take care of, such as children or parents, so taking care of an animal should be no different. Incorporating animals into the household is essentially the concept Leopold was trying to explain, as nature (the animal) becomes a part of the community (the household). A Sand County Almanac also describes the need for conservation and appreciation of nature. The simplistic beauty of nature cannot be appreciated with there is no concept of land ethic in the world, as many aspects of nature would be threatened of quite possibly destroyed. • 35. The Core Theme Of Power In Peter Jackson s Faramir And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power (Jackson 2001). Galadriel, drawing upon the trilogy s core theme of power, makes an excellent point and Peter Jackson agrees, for in his cinematic rendition of The Twin Towers, Jackson highlights the solidarity of men in their epic power struggle against themselves. In so doing, the film renders Faramirnearly unrecognizable: he clutches Gollum by the throat and lobs him against a wall, takes Frodo and Sam directly to Gondor, and yet elects to permit their escape at the end on pain of his own death. As the Lord of the Ringscore concept is power and how it affects those that surround it, Jackson drives these points home in the movie, electing to utilize Faramir s, and in extension, man s incomprehension of power to underscore how men must fight and solve their own war independent of Middle Earths other creatures. Of the power struggle over the ring, there are those who are willing to defend it and those who are willing to sell their soul for it. Thus, when Peter Jackson analyzed the prominent characters, it made sense to fashion Faramir with a vulnerability like the other main characters he must be goaded to some extent by the ring just like other men. Besides serving as the Steward of Gondor, Faramir had no special abilities, and accordingly, it would be inconsistent for a ring of such power to tempt everybody except for Faramir. Hence, adding scenes in which Faramir succumbs to its

In the twenty second book of the Odyssey, Odysseus, having returned to Ithaca, commences his plan to kill the suitors that have been plaguing his house for so long. One of the main reasons Odysseus does this, in addition to serving justice, is for the reason of purifying his house. However, is the way in which Odysseus goes about purifying his house perhaps too harsh for slaughtering all of the suitors, too lenient for sparing the herald and the bard, or are his actions virtuous and appropriate? The more shallow layer refers to the suitors being snared in a trap they can t escape, not being able to run from their deaths, repeated in the next phrase their doom sealed (35). Taking a deeper look, however, it is possible that the example of necks in a noose is meant to compare the suitors to the people who usually are in the predicament of being hung, in fewer words, criminals. Odysseus then seems to cut through this panic with his dark look , possibly showing his disgust with the situation. He then shouts back, You dogs! You never imagined I d return from Troy (37), Homer, both through his narrative and Odysseus voice repeatedly driving home the suitors disregard for the future. He also seems to compare this sort of behavior with the behavior of animals. Odysseus steps his charges up even more, saying so cocksure , calling them arrogant, that you bled my house to death (38), even to the point of wrongdoing. He then says you wooed my wife behind my back while I was still alive! (38 39), maybe going along
