Essay about PCI Compliance
What is PCI Compliance?
PCI Compliance is maintaining adherence to the PCI DSS standard that was developed by major
credit card companies as a guideline to help prevent credit card fraud ( PCI DSS ). Credit card
fraud has taken the spotlight in the past several years due to the massive growth of e commerce and
online transaction processing. With the proliferation of e businesses, it has become easier than ever
to commit fraud over the internet.
Major credit card issuers such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and JCB
International joined together to create a standard known as PCI DSS or Payment Card Industry Data
Security Standard. In order to process credit card payments merchants and vendors are required to

In September of 2006 the PCI Data Security Standard was updated to version 1.1 which is currently
in use today. The PCI Security Council works to promote the broad industry adoption of this
standard, and also generates tools to assist companies in complying with these standards. Some of
the tools are guidelines, scanning requirements, and even a self assessment questionnaire.
Before the PCI Security Council and Data Security Standard existed, each of the five credit card
issuers had their own internal extensive compliance policies. But vendors or merchants who
wanted to process more than one type of credit card would have to comply with requirements
defined by each card issuer. By coming together under the umbrella of the PCI Security Council
these major brands were able to codify their corporate standards into a public standard, and place
pressure on organizations that process credit transactions to protect cardholder data against fraud
and theft.
The founding organizations not only developed this standard, but also incorporated these standards
into their own data security compliance programs. All five organizations share equally in governing
the council; have equal input regarding issues; and all the organizations share responsibility for
maintaining the PCI Data Security Standard.

Character Analysis Of Henry V
ВЁWhen you feel valued, you feel important. When you feel equal, you feel as if you have more
opportunities.ВЁ Henry V demonstrated his ability to make all of his men feel valued and equal.
Although they are clearly of varying status, he still wanted them to feel valued and to have some
sort of freedom as to being equal. Henry Valways thought that if someone sets their mind to
something, they will then be able to succeed. ВЁGod shall be his hope, each and every day. God
is his stay, his guide, and lantern to his feet.ВЁ Henry V was a great warrior. If you could name
someone that did not care if he were to get harmed, it would be Henry V Yet it would be his
honor to bring victory. He was a leader and had only one desire. He took any opportunities that
came. Once he said his mind to something, he was going to do it. Even if it meant putting his life
on the line, the way he thought about it was different. For him, it would just lead him and his men
closer to success. As human beings ourselves, we like to feel valued and equal. His men are no
different than us. As a human being, we have feelings. This meant Henry V wanted to have the
ability to show his men that if they put their life on the line, he shall do the same. Not many men
who have other men to fight for them, do what he does. HeВґs not afraid of death and only wants to
lead others into success. Henry V is a model of traditional heroism, but his value system is
confusing. Henry V tends to paint a picture of the future,

The Battle Of The Triple Entente Dominated Europe
Map Exercises 1. In 1914, the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente dominated Europe. The
nations that make up the Triple Alliance are located in the center of Europe. This allowed the
countries to be able to move troops into other areas very quickly and support each other easily,
but they can be blockaded by Britain (who belonged to the Triple Entente). The Triple Entente can
reinforce each other since Russia was located far from France and Britain. The powers that were
involved in the Balkans were Serbia and Austria Hungary. The Ottoman Empire joined Germany
and Austria Hungary since Russia declared war on the Ottomans. 2. There were several reasons
why the Germans were able to advance that far in 1914 and 1918. One, the Germans went straight
through neutral Belgium. Two, they destroyed everything to stifle resistance. Finally, they relied on
military gambles that were successful to an extent. The actions in the Western Front are better
known since it was known for trench warfare and campaigns that resulted in heavy casualties. 3.
The major battles that took place in the Eastern Front were located mainly near the Central Powers.
The Russians initially attempted to invade eastern Germany, but were repulsed at Tannenburg and
Masurian Lakes. The Allies attempted to knock out Turkey at Gallipoli, but failed. 4. The Reds
had several advantages that enabled them to win the civil war. One, the Red Army had discipline.
This was due to Leon Trotsky, who declared that any

Analysis Of I Just Wanna Be Average
A lot people work very hard and struggle through life trying to be the very best at every single
thing they do; this is a good trait to have but, sadly not everyone has this type of work ethic or
motivation. Some people just try to get by and go through the motions, often not getting the
education they they are rightfully entitled to. This is the type of mentality that Mike Rose
discusses in his narrative I Just Wanna Be Average. Throughout the narrative, Rose shares personal
experiences of mistakenly being set on the wrong track of his educational career due to a mix up
with test results. Rose gets placed into the vocational educationtrack, which is where the person he

Not only is he qualified to talk about the subject due to his job status, but he has also won
several awards that just make him even more credible for his argument. Upon being over
qualified to make his claim, he also appeals to the emotions of the audience by telling several
personal stories and relating to the audience. He tells short anecdotes about teachers, mostly bad,
to emphasize how poorly qualified the teachers are. He talks about one specific encounter with a
gym teacher who was an ex lineman; he claims He routinely had us grabbing our ankles to
receive his stinging paddle across our butts. He goes on to tell a personal story about how the
same teacher asks him, Rose, do you know what sound a bag of shit makes? Rose answers, No,
sir. The teacher proceeds to hit him with the paddle. Rose says this in order to emphasize how
terrible the teachers were. Not only does he only talk about how bad his gym teacher was, but he

Analysis Of For Whom The Bell Toll By John Donne
The introduction to For Whom The Bell Tolls is a poem by John Donne, of which the last line
says any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never
send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee (Hemingway 3). This line encapsulates the
theme of the novel and defines the novel s meaning. Robert Jordan the main character of the
novel arrives in Spain as a volunteer, ready to fight and give his life for other people s freedom
and right to self determination. One of the reasons why this novel was so enjoyable was its focus
on the individual and intense discussions about life and death and morality of killing for and idea.
However, the reader can not help identifying with Jordan, as he plans his own future despite
subconsciously understanding his fate.
For Whom The Bell Tollstakes place during the Spanish Civil War, during a time period when
political divisions, between the right and Nd left were at all time highs around the world. The
novel discusses an execution of the fascists in one of the main character, Pillar s, town, and she
describes how political beliefs became enough to kill someone for. Don Guillermo was a fascist
but otherwise there was nothing against him... He had a rude way of speaking and he was
undoubtedly a fascist and a member of their club and he sat at noon and at evening in the cane
chairs of their club to read El Debate, to have his shoes shined, and to drink vermouth and seltzer
and eat roasted almonds,

Male-Female Relationships In When Harry Met Sally And When...
After recently meeting, Harry and Sally are stuck together in an eight hour car ride heading to New
York City. Not knowing each other well, they make small talk, getting to know the other person.
The topic of male female relationships comes up in the conversation, and Harry says that men are
only friends with women because they want to sleep with them. This question of Can women and
men be friends without sleeping with each other? is one of main themes films most popular
romantic comedies of all time, When Harry met Sally.
In recent years, one of the most popular sub genre of film, romantic comedies or rom coms for
short, has gotten a bad reputation. Due to many rom coms following the same storyline and
containing typical rom com tropes, many have become bored with the genre, and some detest it
because of its predictable nature. There are some hidden gems within the genre that veer off from
the typical rom com films, like When Harry Met Sally. With a well casted group of characters to a
well written screenplay, When Harry Met Sally goes against many of the stereotypes of a rom com
while dealing with themes that are commonly used in the genre.
The movie begins with recently graduated Sally and Harry headed off to New York City. Just
recently met, Harry and Sally start to learn more about each other while being stuck in a car for
eight hours, but after arriving at the city, they part ways with both assuming that they won t ever
see each other again. Five years pass, and Harry and Sally accidentally bump into each other.
They both speak briefly to each other, but both decide not to keep in touch after the awkward
encounter. Another five years pass and Sally runs into Harry again in a bookstore. Both talk about
their recent heartbreaks and bond over them. The rest of the film follows Harry and Sally
friendship while both are dealing with their recently ended relationships and are trying to find love
in the city.
The screenplay for this film is what makes it original in a genre that is stereotypical. Nora Ephron,
who wrote the film, has written other well known rom com films such as Bewitched and Sleepless
in Seattle. An aspect of this screenplay that makes this film special is the pacing. The balance

Festivals and special events are a growing business in the world s current trends. With special
events growing and generating more and more money for communities and nations this assignment
will take an in depth look how special events and festival have a positive and negative effect on
the environment the economy, society and culture. Festivals especially have developed
dramatically since the first known weekend long concerts in California in the summer of 67. With
new technology and production it has allowed festivals to improve the quality of events and

national events that are purely held for entertainment value. People come together for a celebration

Lowestoft a smaller town brings people from across the country improving the towns revenue by

it the most successful it can be. For example the farmers around the local area paint all there sheep
different colours to improve the atmosphere for festival goers.
Community events are smaller scale events used as a celebration, to raise money/awareness or to
break records. A well known celebration between communities is bonfire night where many towns
people come together to watch a parade and to burn guy forks on the bonfire which is then
ususually followed by a firework display. The people in the parade are normally local societies and
charities using the parade to raise money. Those watching the parade put money in fundraising pots
as the parade travels through the town. This is a good way of the community being entertained
whilst also knowing there money is going back into making there environment safer and nicer and

Victorian Short
Victorian Short Stories
Discuss the role of women as villains, victims and heroes in a selection of Victorian short stories.
In the 19th Century the only type of people who could read and write were people in upper class
families. Remembered for being such a class conscious society, the 19th century rarely ever
mixed regarding their status in the society, this was the greatest divide ever between rich and
poor. As well as their being a division between rich and poor, there was also a division between
the sexes. Women were automatically given the lower status between men and women and they
were seen as lower, less able people by men.

Also in this story the gender divide of the 19th Century is transparently clear. Women in this story
are vulnerable and dependent on the men until the evil cycle is broken by the evil twin. Charles
Dickens story Captain Murderer follows the same pattern of a folk tale or fairy story in which it
uses repetition.
The fairy tale element is apparent to the audience when Dickens reveals that red spots unbelievably
appear on all of Captain
Murderer s white horses:
all his horses were milk white horses with one red spot on the back
Obviously, here, the fantasy details are far from true and therefore, have no explanation.
The fairy tale element is reinforced when the brides are ghoulishly killed in a highly unlikely
manner surrounded by luxury and elegant miscellaneous items:
When the bride saw Captain

Captain Murderer is on the same scale as the cooking implements in his house in that he is totally
unrealistic and fantasy like. This conclusion is drawn from folk tale tendencies found in Captain

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex
novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It
also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal
struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones
these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural
elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of
chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He
certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen
years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see
because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he
contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more
frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between
Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for
a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the
money. Upon the return of his father, she is

The Resurrection Of Jesus Sparknotes
This paper is a review of the book The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach
by Michael Licona. This book is comprised of pages that investigate the question of the historicity
of Jesus resurrection while providing unprecedented interaction with the literature of professional
historians outside of the community of biblical scholars on both hermeneutical and methodological
considerations. The book is separated into five long chapters: Chapter 1: Important Consideration
pertaining to Historical Truth , Chapter 2: The Historians and Miracles , Chapter 3: Historical
Sources Pertaining to the Resurrection of Christ , Chapter 4: The Historical Bedrock Pertaining to
the Fate of Jesus, and Chapter 5: Weighing Hypothesis . Licona tackles the research of world
historians who interpreted relevant data and draw their own conclusions. Evidence throughout the
book proves Licona s interest in horizons and objectivity. He outlines several strategies for
eliminating bias perspectives and public appeals. It is evident that knowing the past involves many
challenges. Therefore, since the past is forever gone, it can never be viewed directly nor
reconstructed. Chapter 1 deals with a significant considerations pertaining to historical truth. Licona
surveyed several topics on how historians gain the extent of knowledge and the validity of truth.
Historians gained assistance by initiating investigations and developing steps to minimize biases,

Lego s Partnership With Oil Interests And The Destruction...
On July 8th, 2014, Greenpeace released a video criticizing LEGO s partnership with oil giant
Shell. The video, which has become a rallying point for environmental groups, sought to force
LEGO to end its partnership with Shell due to Shell s plans to implement offshore drilling in the
Arctic. Fearing that the drilling would lead to a massive oil spill which could destroy the Arctic
ecosystem, Greenpeace used the video to garner worldwide attention to the issue. Painting the
relationship between LEGOand Shell as promoting oil interests and the destruction of the Artic gave
Greenpeace an environmental issue that the rest of the world could identify with. Keeping the
Arctic and its ecosystem intact is in the interests of people globally, which made the video
advertisement even more potent.
Factual Assertions
Evaluating Greenpeace s ad for factual claims proves to be a tricky affair. Since the medium used
is LEGOs, their ability to portray real life situations is a little distorted. While this does not take
away from the effectiveness of the ad, it makes it harder to determine what is actually factual.
The most obvious factual claim in the ad would be the partnership that has existed between
Shell and LEGO. This relationship has been in place through a series of co branding deals since
the 1960s. LEGO and Shell agreed to create a set of toys that carries the Shell logo and would be
sold at gasoline stations worldwide. The intended effect was to put LEGOs in the hands of more

Self Assessment Scoring System
Throughout each fiscal year a majority of source is used to determine quality improvement such as
Self assessment this is a form that the manager of each Head Start has to fill out to determine if
they were able to meet all their goals for the year and how can they improve in terms of safety and
stretching their budget to include more pertinent things. First they begin by doing an overview of
the year including what when well as well as things that did not go so well. Then they engage a
team to analysis their outcomes while comparing it to the previous goals, from that

Odds To Identify Obstacles
Multiply 2,345 by 3.40089 and quickly pop out an answer. Odds are you can t do it. Now with a
pad of paper and pencil write it down and figure it out. Odds are now you can come up with an
answer. Why? Because you know the formula! If you know the formula then it really doesn t matter
what the goal is.
You absolutely must have goals if you want to be successful. There is a saying, show me a stock
clerk with a goal and ill show you a stock clerk who will make history. Show me a person without
a goal and I ll show you a stock clerk. You can choose to set goals and realize your potential or
you can choose not to set them and understand that the consequences are not going to be good
down the road. I bet you know a bunch of people who are going to do or are meaning to do a whole
bunch of things. Goals do not care who has them.

There are many international cities that play a role in filming, directing, producing and
distributing films. A film industry does not just pick places based on looks and reputation, but,
they take into consideration the nightlife of the place. It is necessary to have nightlife, and
formal industry events (gallery openings, fashion shows) in the creative economy (Currid E,
2007). Woody Allen, and American actor, writer and director, is a wonderful example of the
international film industry. He has filmed several movies in London, Barcelona, Paris and
Rome. He also hopes to film in Germany and Denmark all which are big metropolitans with
nightlife. Allen s actions were influenced by the public policies promoted to keep and attract
film production to certain areas. Some places have matured policies in place to ensure the
production of films in major European cities to boost their economy; for example, Paris
(Mission Cinema), London (Film London), Berlin (Berlin Brandenburg Film Commission and
the Medienboard) and Vienna (Vienna Film Fund). These policies are put in place to attract the
film industry and its revenues to Europe and away from Hollywood (Scoffier A, 2013). As well
as international cities, there is North American cities that have an effect on Hollywood as well.
Cities such as Austin Texas, Seattle Washington, Montreal Quebec, New York New York,
Albuquerque New Mexico and so on all have an effect on Hollywood (Rupprecht K, 2013).
Montreal Quebec is known for being an important place in North America for film and audiovisual
productions. Over recent years the hub has developed in the visual effects sector attracting some

The Battle Of Siege Of Yorktown
September 5th, 1781, a French Naval Fleet inhabited the lower Chesapeake Bay, which was a major
advantage to the continental army. The siege of Yorktown, was the last major battle against the
British army under General Cornwallis, resulting in the inevitable surrender and American
independence. There was a great deal of coordination prior to the actual engagement consequently
leading to this outcome. The total number of soldiers consisted of 17,600 American and French
soldiers, under the command of General George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, Comte de
Rochambeau, and Rear Admiral Francois Joseph Paul, the Comte de Grasse lead a French Naval
Fleet. 8,300 British forces were commanded by General Charles Earl Cornwallis with 7,000
additional forces sent from General Sir Henry Clinton in New York. Unfortunately for the British,
the reinforcements arrived too late. According to General Cornwallis, the British failed their
mission as a result of lack of reinforcements from Clinton. Middleton stated (2013), However, it is
wrong to blame Clinton alone for Yorktown (p.387). Various factors led to the defeat of both British
Generals. The lack of communications and insubordination of authority caused their defeat. This
was the truth for the battle of Yorktown. At the time of the American Revolution, both American

the area between Peru and Chile is called The Atacama , and such was the plate named. The Peru
Chile trench is located along the western coast of Peru and Chile. It marks the zone where the
Nazca plate is being subducted beneath the South American plate and is approximately 3,666 miles
long. (Britannica, p.1)

Therefore, there are many seismic events that have taken place on our geologic timeline and at the
same time shaped our historic timeline.
The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September
earthquake, which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on record. 5 were
killed, and over 1 million were evacuated from greatly affected areas. However, compared to other
earthquakes that have taken place in Chile, this one was moderate.
In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest of Chile
and was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to immense water
pressure located between the two plates. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months
after the quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater.
The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing
upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450
miles, at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported
waves being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces
of seabed that had been previously undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large
displacement of water. There were also small ruptures of seismic

Newell Company Corporate Strategy
Newell Company: Corporate Strategy
In this case, we are introduced to CEO John McDonough and his management team with Newell
Company, a major manufacturer of hardware and home furnishings, office products, and
housewares. A publicly owned corporation, Newell has made its name on mergers and acquisitions.
Edgar A. Newell founded the company in 1902 after buying the assets of a manufacturer of brass
curtain rods that had previously filed bankruptcy. In the years following, Newell Company has seen
several management changes, and its also seen major growth and profitability making it tops in its
respective market.

The products Newell manufactures have proven to be of good quality and performance. The
differentiation of these products attribute to the driving of value. Through mergers and
acquisitions, Newell has been able to enter new markets with different product categories. With
each product it manufactures, it offers good , better , and best products in attempt to increase
market share with mass merchandisers. Its focus on these high volume mass merchandisers has
led to an increased need for superior customer service. These mass merchandisers, especially Wal
Mart (the clear cut leader in the discount retailer market), had the upper hand over its suppliers
and was able to dictate the kind and quantity of merchandise shipped to its stores. It was able to
leverage price and scheduling, pressuring suppliers to increase efficiencies in their warehouses and
distribution systems. This led Newell to invest heavily into an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI),
which allowed divisions to schedule their own production and deliveries, while allowing retailers
to maintain minimal stock levels in line with actual sales. Newell focused its energy to reducing
inventories and maintaining a standard of 100% line fill and 100% on time delivery to customers.
This led to Newell having a solid reputation within the industry for its

Chipotle Mexican Grill Industry Analysis
In 1993, Steven Ells opened a taqueria in Denver, Colorado built on the idea of offering the
highest quality food with an open kitchen concept. This restaurant was named Chipotle Mexican
Grill (CMG or Chipotle) and competes in what is defined as the fast casual segment. The fast
casual segment offers consumers a portable convenient meal option while focusing on using the
freshest, highest quality ingredients to prepare the customizable made to order meals
(Subramanian, 2013). There are two other restaurant segments in which fast casual restaurants
compete: full service and quick service. According to a conference call on October 18, 2012,
CMG began recognizing its slowing sales, increased competition and rising foodcost during a
depressed economy. Since then, CMG s sustainability and business strategy have been questioned as
to whether CMG can continue operations as a major competitor while regaining its financial health.

Sociological Functionalism And The Functions Of Religion

Theoretical Prospective:
Structural Functionalism:
Functionalism is a theoretic scheme used in sociology which explains the social order, the
relationship between different parts and their role in stability of the society. When it is applied to
the sociological study of religion, this approach explains religion as functional body within society
because it forms social cohesion and integration by disclosing the bonds between people. Different
theorist like Emile Durkheim views religion as functional stuff. Religious rituals shows the spiritual
convictions of the representatives of the religions and help to enhance the belongingness of the

Durkheim s vision continues to control sociological thinking today on the functions of religion.
Firstly, religion gives meaning and purpose to life. Most of the things in life are hard to
recognize. That was surely true, as we came to know in early times, but even in today s highly
scientific age, most of life and death remains unknown, and religious faith and belief help many
people make sense of the things science cannot tell us.
Secondly, religion reinforces social unity and stability. This was is Durkheim s most important
vision. Religion enhances social stability in two ways. As it gives people a general set of beliefs
and hence is an essential agent of socialization. Moreover the collective practice of religion, such as
in houses of worship, brings people of various religions together physically which facilitates their
communication and other social interference thus promotes their social

Neuropathic Pain Essay
(1) A cardinal sign of inflammation is acute pain. The inflammatory response functions to remove
the injurious stimuli, which is recognize by the efferent role of nociceptors, and begin cell healing.
This process involves chemical mediators, which rush to the receptors on the primary sensory
nociceptive neurons in the peripheral nervous systemthrough vasodilation and extravasation. This
can occur in injured skin, joints, and muscles. Specialized pro resolution mediators (SPMs) such as
resovlins resolve the acute inflammationand inhibit inflammatory painthrough directly binding to
nociceptor receptors. Resolvin also activates ChemR23 which effectively inhibits the pain
transduction ion channel TRPV1. This acute pain and initial inflammation is protective in nature.
However, when chronic inflammation takes place, it can be damaging and leads to several diseases
including periodontal disease. The neuronal plasticity, through peripheral sensitization, is one
aspect for this transition into chronic pain. Central sensitization causes heightened responses ...

1: The external controlling organizational system The emphasis of bureaucracy is on hierarchical
organization and the detailed division of labor. This restricts personal feelings and behaviors on the
basis of written rules so as to achieve the purpose of the organization. (Olsen, 2006) In other words,
bureaucracy relies on a strict and mature organizational system. The system comprises precise
regulation and rules to implement effective controlling. In an organization, advantages from the
system control can largely benefit the whole organization, which include, lowering the cost of
control, keeping high efficiency operations, maintaining a fairly and justice workplace
environment. (Salaman, 2005) In the long run, a perfect system can ensure the consistency of the
organization s activities, and an equal workplace environment can greatly release the workplace
conflict between the managers and the employees. However, SliЕѕienД— and VaitkienД— (2007)

make a perfect system that satisfied the interest of everyone. Besides, it may be impossible to make
predictive and far sighted regulations to be able to solve all the difficulties. At the same time, even
though the system itself is perfect enough, the process to implement these rules seems to be more

Light Detection And Ranging ( Lidar )
Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) has grown to become a vital technology used in remote
sensing technology from aerial or land based platforms. Environmentalists have used LiDAR
extensively in resource mapping for conservation efforts in the past. However, one of the
promising applications of LiDAR is planning and designing of engineering projects of varying
magnitudes and complexities. Some of the outstanding drawbacks of using traditional data
acquisition methods include the amount of time spent collecting the data and the reduction of
the data during processing. Such issues are significant in engineering projects due to the
corresponding cost and safety implications. Using LiDAR from aerial platforms allows
engineers to acquire and process data quickly with high levels of accuracy as compared to the
traditional methods. LiDAR involves the use of directing single laser pulses on targets and
performing an analysis on time taken to receive the reflected pulses (Finkl, 2013). The data
collected helps in the determination of elevation details of an area. Additionally, engineers can use
the global positioning system (GPS) and digital photography with the LiDAR elevation details to
present accurate and comprehensive information about the desired location for a project. The
current paper focuses on the LiDAR data generated from aerial sources although several types of
data exist. Literature Review Aerial based LiDAR The aerial based platforms using unmanned

Nero: A Powerful yet Unstable Ruler. Nero was a highly influential Roman leader whose actions
where both positive for the Roman Empire and also abused his power by doing negative actions in
Rome. Nero was born to Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus and Agrippina, the great granddaughter of
Augustus in 37 A.D, with the full name of Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus. He was the last remaining
direct male descendant of Augustus. Nero received a good education and was taught by Seneca. He
studied Greek, philosophy and rhetoric. After Nero s father, Gnaeus died in 48 A.D, his mother
married her uncle, Claudius who at the time was the emperor. She manipulated Claudius to make
Nero his successor instead of his son Britannicus, as well as give Nero his daughter, Octavia s
hand in marriage in 50 A.D. In 54 A.D Claudius died, and Agrippina was suspected to have
poisoned him. Nero took the throne soon after. Nero claimed that Britannicus had an epileptic

The Women At The Tomb
The Women at the Tomb. (Lk. 24: 1 12) The Lucan account of the resurrection of Christ began
with the pericope of the Women at the Tomb This is the first of three resurrection stories that
highlight the resurrection of Christ In the first, two angels appear to the women telling the good
news of a living Christ (Luke 24:1 12) In the second is Jesushimself who delivers the message of
the resurrection to the two disciples who walk to Emmaus (24:13 35) And in the third periscope,
Jesus appears to the eleven disciples in Jerusalem (24:36 49) This chapter and the book ends
with the story of the ascension to heaven (24:50 53) This latter serves as epilogue and
connection to the book of Acts of the apostles, which is also written by the same author. Luke s
style suggests that he used various sources to write this pericope. The pericope occurs in all three
gospels and even in John . It is situated after the passion, and death of Jesus. The comparison
reveals the following common details which build the story: 1) the women go to the tomb to
prepare Jesus body. 2) They go to the tomb the first day of the week early in the morning. 3)
They found the empty tomb. 4) They also found the angels who gave a report. 5) It is followed
by the response of the women. 6) They ran to look for the apostles and 7) the apostles responded
to the women s report. Darrel Bock says that only 17 of Luke s 169 terms are in agreement with
Mark. Luke s account complements the other Gospels giving

My Firm s Services Regarding Proper Accounting Practices...
It has come to my understanding that you requested my firm s services regarding proper
accounting practices for the acquisition of long term debentures. Therefore, I write to you this
memo to address some issues you might be having with your newly obtained debt and to explain
how to properly amortize it. I have been informed that you already have an accounting expert that
advised you to use the Straight Line method of amortization for the discount on the bond. My
expertise lies on the Effective Interest method of amortization. 1.Determining Bond Price To
determine the price of the bond, the face value of the bond must be brought to its present value.
The rationale behind this comes from an investment principle that considers that the money given
up in the present could yield a gain in the long term if used as an investment. To arrive to the
present value, we use a market rate that represents the yield the average investor would require to
spend money in a new venture (in this particular case, 11%). Therefore, even though the Bond s
face value might be $1,000,000, your company is expected to get $924,623.74. The difference
between this two numbers, $75,376.26, is considered a discount that you allow for offering a rate
that is lower than the rate requested by the investors (in this case, 9%). 2.Amortization of Discount I
took the liberty of creating an amortization schedule to help you visualize the immediate difference
between straight line and effective interest methods

The effectiveness of the criminal trial process as a means of achieving justice
The criminal trial process aims to provide justice for all those involved, while it succeeds in the

legal representation involved in a case and the availability of legal aid, the capacity of the jury

This may also be due to the credibility of scientific evidence, for example the scientific evidence
of DNA is hard to disprove in court as members of society are made to believe through the
influence of social media that if there is DNA evidence present the accused is guilty beyond
reasonable doubt. While DNA has helped solve many cases and been used in court during the
criminal trial process to prove and disprove an accused innocence it also adds to the flaws in the
efficiency of the trial process. There are cases in which the accused had been wrongfully
convicted due to DNA results, such as the case of Farah Jama where a man was wrongfully
convicted of rape through the evidence of DNA alone. Farah Jama was convicted of raping a
woman in a nightclub in 2006, in 2008 before a jury he was sentenced to six years jail by Judge
Paul Lacava. Farah was found guilty of rape solely on the basis of DNA, adding to the
suggestion that the jury is persuaded by the DNA evidence. In early 2009 a solicitor took on
Jamas case, asking for the retesting of the key DNA sample, the scientist who retested the sample
expressed doubts to its reliability. Jamas was later acquitted and it is highly likely that he was
convicted of a crime that never took place. This was a miscarriage of justice which raises the

known that Hiro is a lonely child, his only friends are his brother and his toy robot. After the loss of

He gets mad at Callaghan for what happened to his brother and feels the need to seek revenge on
him. His friends encourage him not to kill Callaghan because of what happened to his brother.
Listening to his friends, Hiro does not kill Callaghan and it turns out to be a great decision that
he made. This theme in this movie is relevant today because many people often feel the need to
seek revenge if something bad was inflicted upon them. For example, when my brother punched
me in the stomach randomly just to inflict harm on me, I felt the natural want to punch him back
for what he has done. In hindsight, it is not good to seek revenge because it just made the
situation worse, both sides wounded after the brawl. While many may believe that seeking
revenge is the way to settle disputes, in many cases, people tend to end up getting hurt like I did
myself. Another moral in the story is friends and family help each other. After the event that
happened to his brother, his family and friends helped comfort him. Baymax, his personal
healthcare robot, diagnoses Hiro and finds out that his emotional health is low, so it prescribes
Hiro with support from his family and friends. On top of that, his friends even fight with him to
defeat the

The Meryton Ball in Pride and Prejudice Essay
Pride and Prejudice How significant is the first ball to the rest of the novel? During the Meryton ball
we meet all of the major and most important characters of the novel. We have already met the
protagonist in previous chapters. During the ball, we get to understand Elizabeth s character a bit
more and her attitude towards others in different circumstances, situations and environments.
Elizabeth is lively, intelligent, witty and sensible. She can control her emotions maturely in
awkward situations. Elizabeth remained with no very cordial feelings towards him. She told the
story, however, with great spirit among her friends; for she had a lively, playful disposition, which
delighted in anything ridiculous. This shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If any subject of her interests occur in conversation, she would feel obligated to find out every
detail of such an event, person etc. just to make sure that she has the advantage over anyone and
everyone else. Mr Bingley is very good looking and has a very good personality. The general
opinion of Mr Bingley when we first meet him is that he has very fine looks, with easy,
unaffected manners and personality. He is a very likable man who can easily get along with a
lot of people. Bingley presents himself very well towards the women by introducing himself to
them and then asking them to dance. He is sensible, good humoured, lively and very good
mannered. Mr Bingley was good looking and gentlemen like he had a pleasant countenance and
easy, unaffected manners ... Mr Bingley soon made himself acquainted with all of the principal
people in the room; he was lively and unreserved and danced every dance. Mr Bingley is shown
to be a very kind and attentive man. Mr Bingley was also angry that the ball finished so early and
promised that he shall hold a ball at his house to be more acquainted with the people of
Netherfield. Mr Darcy exhibits his pride by being prejudice against most of the people at the ball,
and the fact that he will only converse and dance with the people of his own party. I certainly shall
not. You know how much I detest it, unless I am particularly acquainted with my partner.

A Rose for Emily 17
A Rose for Emily
A Rose for Emily is a story that deals with a women s sentimental illness caused by isolation.
Emily Grierson looses her moral compass, and her trace of reality, her inability to be loved, her
desire to be considered as someone important, was never accomplished. The author shows plans of
development; using characterization, symbolism, and setting. This is a very symbolic and animatic
story. William Faulknerpoints out his views of empathy towards Emily in the story when he
illustrates that Emily had an emotional abusive upbringing with her father. In addition, we see the
historical fiction and setting which reflects the racist times that was given in the past. A Rose of
Emily is also a symbol of a gothic, and horror ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emily s house symbolizes her state of mind, it was once nice, but then turns into the town most
stubborn and coquettish decay above the cotton wagons and the gasoline pumps an eyesore
among eyesores (140) The breakage and liberation of her freedom held much imagery through her
hair cut. The poison represented revenge against Homer. The story shows archetypes of her
emotional state of denial for example, she told them that her father was not dead (143) . She
denies her father s death, when clearly doctors and ministers were trying to persuade her to that she
needed to dispose of his body. This is a great symbolism of her emotional attachment to her father,
and how it affected her state of mind.
The empathy and sorrow sets the atmosphere of Emily s fallen monument, her emotional breakage
into sadness. The setting of 1894 gives the historical fiction and the enveloping action of the racist
times in America, No Negro woman should appear on the streets without an apron (140) At this
period America still had a racial mind set, and where the rich were treated differently than the
poor. We see the atmosphere of her once upon a time pretty house, described as squarish frame
house that had once been white, decorated with cupolas and spices and scrolled balconies in the
heavily lightsome style of the seventies (140). In addition, this quote also demonstrates local color
fiction of the rural areas in southern America, and Faulkner s regionalism in these

With the proliferation of e businesses, it has become easier than ever to commit fraud over the internet. In September of 2006 the PCI Data Security Standard was updated to version 1.1 which is currently in use today. The PCI Security Council works to promote the broad industry adoption of this standard, and also generates tools to assist companies in complying with these standards. Some of the tools are guidelines, scanning requirements, and even a self assessment questionnaire. Before the PCI Security Council and Data Security Standard existed, each of the five credit card issuers had their own internal extensive compliance policies. But vendors or merchants who wanted to process more than one type of credit card would have to comply with requirements defined by each card issuer. By coming together under the umbrella of the PCI Security Council these major brands were able to codify their corporate standards into a public standard, and place pressure on organizations that process credit transactions to protect cardholder data against fraud and theft. The founding organizations not only developed this standard, but also incorporated these standards into their own data security compliance programs. All five organizations share equally in governing the council; have equal input regarding issues; and all the organizations share responsibility for maintaining the PCI Data Security Standard. Henry Valways thought that if someone sets their mind to something, they will then be able to succeed. ВЁGod shall be his hope, each and every day. For him, it would just lead him and his men closer to success. As human beings ourselves, we like to feel valued and equal. His men are no different than us. As a human being, we have feelings. This meant Henry V wanted to have the ability to show his men that if they put their life on the line, he shall do the same. Not many men who have other men to fight for them, do what he does. The nations that make up the Triple Alliance are located in the center of Europe. The Triple Entente can reinforce each other since Russia was located far from France and Britain. The powers that were involved in the Balkans were Serbia and Austria Hungary. The Ottoman Empire joined Germany and Austria Hungary since Russia declared war on the Ottomans. 2. There were several reasons why the Germans were able to advance that far in 1914 and 1918. It also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. The video, which has become a rallying point for environmental groups, sought to force LEGO to end its partnership with Shell due to Shell s plans to implement offshore drilling in the Arctic. Fearing that the drilling would lead to a massive oil spill which could destroy the Arctic ecosystem, Greenpeace used the video to garner worldwide attention to the issue. Painting the relationship between LEGOand Shell as promoting oil interests and the destruction of the Artic gave Greenpeace an environmental issue that the rest of the world could identify with. Keeping the Arctic and its ecosystem intact is in the interests of people globally, which made the video advertisement even more potent. Factual Assertions Evaluating Greenpeace s ad for factual claims proves to be a tricky affair. Since the medium used is LEGOs, their ability to portray real life situations is a little distorted. While this does not take away from the effectiveness of the ad, it makes it harder to determine what is actually factual. The most obvious factual claim in the ad would be the partnership that has existed between Shell and LEGO. This relationship has been in place through a series of co branding deals since the 1960s. A film industry does not just pick places based on looks and reputation, but, they take into consideration the nightlife of the place. It is necessary to have nightlife, and formal industry events (gallery openings, fashion shows) in the creative economy (Currid E, 2007). Woody Allen, and American actor, writer and director, is a wonderful example of the international film industry. He has filmed several movies in London, Barcelona, Paris and Rome. He also hopes to film in Germany and Denmark all which are big metropolitans with nightlife. Allen s actions were influenced by the public policies promoted to keep and attract film production to certain areas. Some places have matured policies in place to ensure the production of films in major European cities to boost their economy; for example, Paris (Mission Cinema), London (Film London), Berlin (Berlin Brandenburg Film Commission and the Medienboard) and Vienna (Vienna Film Fund). These policies are put in place to attract the film industry and its revenues to Europe and away from Hollywood (Scoffier A, 2013). The inflammatory response functions to remove the injurious stimuli, which is recognize by the efferent role of nociceptors, and begin cell healing. This process involves chemical mediators, which rush to the receptors on the primary sensory nociceptive neurons in the peripheral nervous systemthrough vasodilation and extravasation. This can occur in injured skin, joints, and muscles. Specialized pro resolution mediators (SPMs) such as resovlins resolve the acute inflammationand inhibit inflammatory painthrough directly binding to nociceptor receptors. Resolvin also activates ChemR23 which effectively inhibits the pain transduction ion channel TRPV1. This acute pain and initial inflammation is protective in nature. Environmentalists have used LiDAR extensively in resource mapping for conservation efforts in the past. However, one of the promising applications of LiDAR is planning and designing of engineering projects of varying magnitudes and complexities. Some of the outstanding drawbacks of using traditional data acquisition methods include the amount of time spent collecting the data and the reduction of the data during processing. Such issues are significant in engineering projects due to the corresponding cost and safety implications. Using LiDAR from aerial platforms allows engineers to acquire and process data quickly with high levels of accuracy as compared to the traditional methods. LiDAR involves the use of directing single laser pulses on targets and performing an analysis on time taken to receive the reflected pulses (Finkl, 2013). The data collected helps in the determination of elevation details of an area. Additionally, engineers can use the global positioning system (GPS) and digital photography with the LiDAR elevation details to present accurate and comprehensive information about the desired location for a project. It has come to my understanding that you requested my firm s services regarding proper accounting practices for the acquisition of long term debentures. Therefore, I write to you this memo to address some issues you might be having with your newly obtained debt and to explain how to properly amortize it. I have been informed that you already have an accounting expert that advised you to use the Straight Line method of amortization for the discount on the bond. My expertise lies on the Effective Interest method of amortization. 1.Determining Bond Price To determine the price of the bond, the face value of the bond must be brought to its present value. The rationale behind this comes from an investment principle that considers that the money given up in the present could yield a gain in the long term if used as an investment. To arrive to the present value, we use a market rate that represents the yield the average investor would require to spend money in a new venture (in this particular case, 11%). Therefore, even though the Bond s face value might be $1,000,000, your company is expected to get $924,623.74. The difference between this two numbers, $75,376.26, is considered a discount that you allow for offering a rate that is lower than the rate requested by the investors (in this case, 9%). 2.Amortization of Discount I took the liberty of creating an amortization schedule to help you visualize the immediate difference between straight line and effective interest methods ...
