Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Arts, Culture and Literature
In The Crane Wife and Princess Hase, both short stories in the book Tales of Japan Illustrated Folk
Tales, Fairy Tales and Mythology by Birgit Amadoi there are examples of Universal truths. The
Universal Truths such as Good vs. Evil, Greed vs. Generosity, and Outer Strength vs. Inner Strength
affect the people of Japan, and reflects on how the live their life, and their outlook on the world.
The universal truth of Good vs. Evil reflects Japanese culture through, the history, the people, their
outlook on life, and their actions. Evil is usually perceived as the opposite of good. In history it is
to be known that Good always conquers evil. Every language has a ... Show more content on

This is an example of God being on the side of good. While giving birth to Hase he mother passed
away. The Father got remarried, and had another child. Hase now lives with her Stepmother, Father,
and brother. Her brother is the son of her step mother. The step mother became very jealous of
Hase. She was loved by everyone because of her poetry. Hase was a good person, so good karma
came to her. Hase s stepmother plans to kill her with poison. Her plan went wrong, and she killed
her only son. The stepmother blamed Hase for her loss. This is the second example of karma. Hase
s stepmother was jealous of her which is a sin, and bad karma came to her. She tried to kill Hase
and bad came back to her. This is an example of Good vs. evil when good, defeats evil.
In both of these short stories it explains for Good vs. Evil is connected to karma. When you do
good things good karma will come back to you. When you do bad, horrible things will happen to
you in return. The example of Yuhei not obeying his wife s orders is an example of Evil, which
resulted in him having a horrible life. When he let the crane free and him being bless with a
wife was an example of good karma. This shows that one person can make good and bad actions.
In the second story Hase s stepmother trying to killer her, resulting in her only sons death is an
example of bad Karma. She took the evil path and bad things happened to her. This

Ocean Stratification
The earth, as we know, is and always has been changing. Although we may not be able to feel or
even see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A
major problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some
believe that the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have
proposed many potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea
suggests filling regions of the ocean with ironand other various nutrients where little biological
production exists. This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down
deeper into the ocean. Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die
and fall to the ocean floor. Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could
lower the amount of carbon dioxidein the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating
process. Iron is one of the most important nutrients that are necessary for phytoplankton. This
nutrientcan be found short in supply where stratification has occurred in ocean waters.... Show more

Therefore, ocean fertilization seems to be one of the only options us geo engineers have left to try
to stop, or even just slow down human harm on the climate. If a large group of people could come
together behind ocean fertilization, the effort could remove over thousands of tons of carbon
dioxide from our atmosphere. Although there are many experts who believe that this system would
actually cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very
slim. The pros of ocean fertilization heavily outweigh the cons in the situation. The chance that this
system might improve our climate and the overall health of the ocean drastically is a good enough
reason to give it a

Nuclear Atomic Facilities And International Security
INTRODUCTION
Since 2002, when the international community discovered the undeclared nuclear facilities and the
magnitude of the Islamic Republic of Iran s nuclear programme, several international players and
Western countries have focused their efforts on hindering its nuclear agenda. Although the Iranian
government has always stressed its civilian objectives, the programme has been considered an
important challenge to the non proliferation regime and international security.
Accordingly, there has been an extensive debate among scholars and policymakers about the
consequences of a nuclear Iran, ranging from claims that it will destabilise the region to a more
optimistic view that it will ensure a nuclear balance. This essay will argue ... Show more content on

In order to address the impact of a nuclear armed Iran in the ME, this essay will be divided into
three sections. Firstly, the genesis of the nuclear programme and its main drivers will be analysed.
The second section will examine the strategies applied by the international community to counter
Iranian nuclear ambitions. Finally, it will discuss the possible consequences of a nuclear Iran,
specifically, the theoretical debate, the lack of incentives for a nuclear domino, with special
reference to Israel and others key countries and, lastly, the factors which could lead to a deepening
of the current regional instability.
IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS
The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back
to 1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United
States (USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to
develop a structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human
capital. The arrival of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the
suspension of nuclear assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the
new regime. Later, however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the
regime to resume the programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s

Chinese Immigrants During The 19th Century
Chinese Immigrants Introduction During the 18th to 20th century, the Chinese people faced many
obstacles. Many would come in to America seeking education, work, and to get away from the
famine. When they came, there got more than they bargained for. Abundant of Chinese
immigrants came to American in three different time periods. They first came in 1849 1882
when they heard of the gold being found in California. The second wave of Chinese immigrants
came in 1882 1965. And the last one would be in 1965 to now, present day. 1849 1882 The first
wave of Chinese immigrants came because of the great economic depression. Great Britain and

Antigone By Sophocles Antigone
In Sophocles, Antigone begins with the stages of grief as Antigone mourns the loss of her two
brothers, Polyneikes and Eteokles, who die simultaneously in face to face combat in Thebes.
Eteokles dies with honor fighting for the Thebesians and is honored with rituals and a proper
burial. The body of Polyneikes, who attempted to burn the city of Thebes, is left for the dogs
and birds to savage. Thesbesian s law forbids anyone giving a traitor, like Polyneikes, a proper
burial, for that itself is a crime punishable by death. Antigone is angered that Polyneikes is not
going to receive a proper burial and is determined that she must honor him even if it means the end
of her life. Antigone alone attempts to bury her brother, but is captured and imprisoned, at which
point she decides to form a noose around her neck and end her life. Sophoclesleaves the reader to
question whether Antigone s suicide is an act of heroism, a stand for the citizens of Thebes, or a
selfish way of coping with personal trauma. Antigone sought assistance in burying her brother
from her only family member alive, her sister, Ismene, who tries to reason with her. Ismene
proclaims, Remember, we re women. How can we fight men? They re stronger (Sophocles 749).
The physical statures of neither Polyneikes nor Antigone were not ever mentioned, but in general
men typically weigh more and have a larger build than women. We have to assume that she doesn t
want to elicit help from others because the risk of

A Comparison Between Petron And PETRONAS
Expansion of a business is a very important element because it can bring us to another level of
higher in our business level. As we can see here we are comparing between Petron and
PETRONAS. To expand both companies, an international expansion should be preferred.
International are very famous and it has been one of the reason of a company to be famous and
betterknown around the world. Petron has also linked with international companies even though it
is not that famous in our own very company. On the other hand, we can see that it goes the same
to PETRONAS. We should be able to expand our business, when we reach a certain level in the
market place.
Moreover, both Petron and PETRONAS have the largest retail network. Recently they have opened
branch at Philipine, United States and more countries. They are also producing the most exclusive
petroleum. This is also one of the main reasons why it has being opening many branches as in
other countries. Shana (2015) says that PETRONAS continue to look at CIS countries, and we are
present in Turkmenistan. But one needs to remember at that time everyone was rushing into CIS
and, as a new player, we needed to consider whether we were going to be acceptable to the host
government or not, compared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PETRONAS is now growing towards international levels. Although its business is growing
internationally, it has a high competition in the market. To expand PETRONAS business, the
company must improve the quality of the fuel and petroleum where targeted customers would
more prefer to use fuel which has a high quality. High quality of fuel able to clean and provide a
smooth journey for those who are using fuel in their vehicles. This would be an advantage for them
to competitive with other petroleum production company. By here, it may help PETRONAS to
reach their targeted level of sales and customers, besides; this helps the business to be expanded to

Firefighters And The Fire Service
Introduction
Firefighters are presented with a job that is dangerous and at times requires them to put their
lives at risk. Over the past 30 years, an average of 100 firefighters die annually in line of duty
deaths (LODDs). Although 100 firefighter deaths per year may seem to be an acceptable number,
it would seem that the advances in firefighter s knowledge, structural gear, equipment, and
apparatuses would cause a decrease in LODDs over the years. One way this can be accomplished is
by reviewing and restructuring standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies that will
incorporate and implement proper healthcare, mandatory fitness programs, adequate training, and
effective leadership. Since the average number of firefighter deaths has ... Show more content on

The NFPA was established in 1896 with the primary goal of eliminating death, injury, property
and economic loss due to fire related hazards. To do this, the organization developed codes and
standards along with training and educations to help firefighters perform skills and other
objectives safely. Since the formation of the NFPA, 300 codes and standards have been created to
reduce the risk and effects of fire by focusing on decisive factors for building, processing, design,
service, and installation in the United States (NFPA, 2015). Although these standards can help
reduce the number of injuries and deaths to firefighters, these codes and standards are not laws.
Instead, the fire department or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) must adopt the code and
standard in order for it to be implemented into that fire organizations SOPs. Consequently, the fire
services should analyze these codes and standards and determine which ones if not all, could further
decrease the number of LODDs.
Another important organization that provides the fire service with helpful information is NIOSH.
When an injury or death occurs to a firefighter, NIOSH conducts an independent investigation
regarding the incident. Even though the injury or death has already occurred, this federal agency
will find effective methods and standards that can be instituted to prevent similar occurrences from
happening repeatedly. These NIOSH reports then become a part of a database where other fire

The Definition Of Savagery In The Lord Of The Flies
Every human is a savage. All of us has something savage within our lives. When were born,
people learn humanity and what s right from wrong. In the book The Lord Of The Flies The
boys are definitely considered savages .In the book, the boys are considered savages because it
is evident that when you re at home, you re taught what s right and wrong, but in the book there

Lastly is the way they talk and treat things/others which shows a huge amount of savagery. The

The Similarities Between Classical Music and Ellington s Jazz
One of the greatest tragedies in the 20th century can be seen in the debasing of the Jazz genre as
a unworthy equal to it s predecessor, European Classical music. This can be seen in various
statements about Jazz, such as Boris Gibalin commit, The Jazz Mania has taken on the character of
a lingering illness and must be cured by means of forceful intervention. 1 This conflict can be traced
through out the history of Jazz, as Classical composers have relatively disregarded this new type of
music. Before Duke Ellington s Cotton Club performances, Jazz play on the radio was delegated
for late night audience only. This sub culture treatment has led many critics to disregard the Jazz
movement as a dance craze, or unsuccessful recreations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To most people the infusion of African tonality into Duke Ellington s music to create Negro art ,
questions the connection between European music and Jazz. Here Constant Lambert responds to
this.
If anyone doubts the essential element of European sophistication in Jazz, it is a simple matter
for his to compare a typical piece of Jazz, such as Duke Ellington Swampy River, first with a
lyric by Grieg and then with a record of African music. It must be clear to even the most prejudiced
listener that apart from a few rhythmical peculiarities the Ellington piece has far more in common
with the music of Grieg 6
One must understand that even when Duke infused the two tonalities of music; he still was
obligated to work within guidelines of the European Harmonic tradition.7 Yet by him keeping with
this tradition he is not obligated to write music in the form of previous composers such as
Stravinsky, Mozart, or Bach, for to do that would delegate Ellington s music as a duplicate work.
Here is the contradiction, for no Classical composer has ever been chastise for creativity in their
sound, and yet how do you explain the criticism of Ellington s work? The intentional fusing of
African and European tonality is nothing more than a continuation of numerous inventive
techniques used by musicians as seen in the changing sounds and techniques of Classical music
over time? Thus to criticize Duke for his originality one would also have

This could be a program, method, system, or other action. A dependent variableis what may change
as a result of the independent variable or intervention. A dependent variable could be a behavior,
outcome, or other condition. A smoking cessation program, for example, is an independent variable
that may change group members smoking behavior, the primary dependent variable. What do we
mean by analyzing data? Analyzing information involves examining it in ways that reveal the
relationships, patterns, trends, etc. that can be found within it. That may mean subjecting it to
statistical operations that can tell you not only what kinds of relationships seem to exist among
variables, but also to what level you can trust the answers you re getting. It may mean comparing
your information to that from other groups (a control or comparison group, statewide figures, etc.),
to help draw some conclusions from the data. The point, in terms of your evaluation, is to get an
accurate assessment in order to better understand your work and its effects on those you re
concerned with, or in order to better understand the overall situation. There are two kinds of data
you re apt to be working with, although not all evaluations will necessarily include both.
Quantitative data refer to the information that is collected as, or can be translated into, numbers,
which can then be displayed and analyzed mathematically. Qualitative

Dukes v. Wal-Mart Essay
Dukes v. Wal Mart Stores, Inc. is a legal battle concerning whether or not the company engaged
willfully in gender based discrimination. Underlying causes, organizational culture and ethical
issues will be examined in determining how the largest private employer in the United States
could have fallen prey to unfair labor practices. In 1999, women constituted 72% of Wal Mart s
hourly employees, but only 33% of its managerial employees (Bhatnagar, 2004). This fact and
many others are the reasons many people allege that Wal Mart has unfair labor practices. The

Employee Cleo Page actually experienced the effects of Wal Mart s unethical labor practices.
Ms. Page began working for Wal Mart as a cashier in one of their super centers in Tulsa, OK
making $6.50/hr. Page resigned from her job three years later from a store in California where
she was making $10/hr. Over the three years of employment, she received above standard
evaluations, but despite her desire for advancement, she was passed over twice for promotions
by less qualified male applicants. Page had also encountered other women who had similar
experiences, some who were in the same position for eight years. Three years of earning low
wages adversely affected Page s financial situation. She had little savings and as a result, she lost
her house in California in addition to the foster children she was caring for. Page declared that she
would not have lost her home and children if she had been given the well deserved promotion. The
promotion came with many great incentives and better bonuses. This alone would have improved
her financial situation. Wal Mart is the largest retail store in the United States. The root cause of the
problem with Wal Mart is that they try to increase their profits by minimizing their costs. Many
internal policies are used to maintain this philosophy. First and foremost is the strong
organizational culture that is dictated from the home offices. Store level managers receive

Midterm Reflection
From the beginning of the semester until now, I believe I have made progress with the goals I
considered for the midterm exam. Those goals were staying turned out, fully extending the
working leg to the back, and carrying the working leg en l air at the same height. In addition to
these three aspects, new challenges were discovered over the current ones. The new challenges
have allowed myself to set new goals for the upcoming semester of Spring 2018. During the
midterm conference, Dr. Sims provided me a few exercises I could work on outside of class to
improve my turnout. The exercise I have really worked on is with a theraband. This exercise
consists of tieing the theraband around the thigharea tight enough to allow resistance and begin to
externally rotate the legs. This exercise targets turning out from the hips as I was turning out from
the knee, which could be another cause of my knee pain.
Not only is working with a theraband working, but continuing to think about sending energy out
from the tip of my hip of the working leg into my big toe. With this idea in my head, it allows me
to fully lengthen the working leg and not let the knee drop or turn parallel to the floor. For
example, while in arabesque or working to the back, I have had a bad habit of letting the
working leg go into flexion. Not only in this area, but as well as rhon de jambes. In this particular
exercise, I would bend the working leg as it passed through first position. Now that I have this

website alone, how likely are you to buy this product, what was it in that website that made you
want to buy the product? Consider elements like colours, written language techniques, graphics.
How did these elements work together to sell the product to you?
One of the websites I assessed was called clever hinge . This was a product that means you do
not lose your Tupperware container lids. The website was really cleverly laid out, with a red
colour scheme. This colour scheme really helped persuade me into wanting to buy their product.
Not only was the colour scheme well thought out, the entire website was laid out in a way that
was easy to navigate. Due to this it was very easy to work out where the information on their
product was stored. This information in itself consisted of a few very well done images of their
design as well as providing basic information on the product. It was for this reason I was tempted to
buy the product.

Building Face Composites Can Harm Lineup Identification...
1: Briefly describe the aim(s) of the study:
In the extract the authors state that the aim of the experiment was to determine if the composite
building process could harm (or alter) the builder s remembrance of a face in a lineup
identification situation. The study also seems to have a number of secondary aims with the two
experiments using still photos in the lineup in experiment #1 and the eyewitnesses watching a
replicated crime video in its place of still photos for experiment #2. The 2nd experiment also
questions what will happen if the witness views a lineup that does not contain the actual target,
whereas in the first experiment the target was always in the lineup.
2: Indicate whether or not the study was theoretically motivated:
The introduction segment of the article delivers substantial review of the literature that has driven
the study. They note that over the last 25 30 years, cognitive and social psychologists have
performed research questioning the accuracy of eyewitness identification evidence and are planning
methods to advance eyewitness identification precision (Cutler Penrod, 1995; Wells, 1993).
Additionally they note that the U.S justice system has now started to incorporate better methods of
eyewitness identification based on this psychological research (Wells et al., 2000).

who were convicted of crimes they did not commit, and the vast

Why Data Mining Is The Extraction Of Knowledge From The...
Data mining is the extraction of knowledge from the various databases that was previously
unknown (Musan Hunyadi, 2010). Data mining consists of using software that conglomerates
artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, and systems management in the act of extracting facts
and understanding from data stored in data warehouses, data marts, and through metadata (Giudici,
2005). Through algorithms and learning capabilities data miningsoftware can analyze large amounts
of data and give the management team intellectual and effective information to help them form
their decisions. The intention for data mining is to analyze prevailing data and form new truths and

These visualization tools that are made through the management team s queries, are synthesized
with the reports. Charts, tables, and graphs can help management teams make important decisions

perspective to understand all areas of their query and, in turn, they can make better and more
informed decisions.
How Business Intelligence Systems are used Business intelligence systems are the combination of
operational data and analytical tools to aid managers to comprehend the capabilities available in the
firm, the industrial trends, future development in technologies and the market and even their
competitor s actions and the resulting implications (Wang, 2014, p. 1083). There are many ways
managers can use the information a business intelligence system gives them such as understand
customer behavior, analyzing competition understanding investment options, and knowledge
protection.
Customer Behavior The market place, even at a local level, is more competitive then it has been at
any other time in history. Companies must put a major emphasis on gaining customer loyalty and
understanding customer behavior in order to compete in today s market place. Tuta et al. (2014)

they partake in and the competition in that market place. Customer Relationship Management

harbor hate in his heart for King Arthurand wanted nothing but revenge against him and his

The Invention Of Television Has Impacted American Society
I. Introduction:
The first commercial to ever air in America was a 10 second ad for Bulova clocks and watches.
This commercial cost nine dollars. Today, a typical commercial costs around two hundred dollars to
a thousand dollars (Luckin). Both society and television have drastically changed from when
television was first invented to today. Few inventions have had as big of an impact on American
society as the television has. The invention of television has impacted American society positively,
because it helps spread information faster and influences the way people think about important
social issues, it provides cultural experiences and can help broaden viewer s perspectives, and it
entertains and brings communities together.
II. Background:
The invention of television did not happen overnight. Different experiments by various inventors
and scholars immersed in the fields of electricity and rado resulted in the development of the
basic technologies and ideas that later became the groundwork for the invention of television (
The History Of Television ). Paul Nipkow was one of the first inventors that had a huge impact on
the future invention of television. Paul discovered television s scanning principle, which is when
the light intensities of small portions of an image are analyzed and transmitted. In 1884, Nipkow
invented a rotating disk, with one or more spirals of openings that passed across a picture, called
the Nipkow disk ( Paul Gottlieb Nipkow ). This invention

Essay about al capone
Organized crime was not so organized up until the 1920s. When the 1920s arrived, the American
lifestyle changed dramatically. People started investing money in home appliances and
automobiles, women s skirts became higher and drinking became very popular. Also, organized
crime came to a rise in the 1920 s. And in the high ranks of organized crime was Al Capone. Al
Capone ran many illegal businesses including bootlegging, gambling, prostitution, and murders.
There were many gangs in the world of organized crime and Al Capone s was at the top. Al Capone

In New York, Arnold Rothstein was the man. He was a bootlegger, he also sold narcotics, and he
started off many big names in crime such as Charles Lucky Luciano, Frank Costello and Dutch
Shultz. Rothstein made friends with as many bootleggers and gamblers as he could. He never
wanted anything to go wrong. He was sort of paranoid but Rothstein was a very powerful man.
The most incredible act ever made by a thug just may have been the fixing of the 1919 World
Series between the Reds and the White Sox. Many of the White Sox star players wanted higher
wages, owners of the club refused. But Rothstien changed that. It was said that he paid off eight
of the White Sox players 10,000 dollars each. The Red s would have lost but with a little help from
Rothstein the White Sox did lose and Rothstein got back all of his money winning bets.
Charles Lucky Luciano was another one of the most successful gangsters during the 1920s. His
place of crime was New York. Luciano started under a man named Maranzano as Capone started
under Johnny Torrio. Luciano was one of Maranzano s top men. After being under him, Charles

Meaning of Ahimsa Essay
Meaning of Ahimsa Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term that translates roughly into non injury to living
beings or dynamic harmlessness. Ahimsa tends to evoke images of monks wearing cloths over
their faces to avoid breathing microscopic beings and sweeping the insects off the path in front of
them as they walk so they won t accidentally crush one under their feet. One cannot easily live in
today s world without causing some harm to other beings but that does not mean we shouldn t try
to keep it to a minimum. There are some relatively easy steps you can take to reduce the suffering

Ahimsa is the pivot and all virtues revolve around Ahimsa. Just as all footprints are
accommodated in those of the elephant, so also do all religious rules become merged in the

the presence of Ahimsa. There is no power greater than Ahimsa. The practice of Ahimsa
develops will power to a considerable degree. The practice of Ahimsa will make you fearless.
He, who practices Ahimsa with real faith, can move the whole world, can tame wild animals and
can win the hearts of all his enemies. He can do and undo things. The power of Ahimsa is
infinitely more wonderful and subtler than electricity or magnetism. The law of Ahimsa is as

intelligently and with scientific accuracy. If you are able to apply it with precision, you can work
wonders. You can command the elements and Nature as well. Forms of Ahimsa Only the ordinary

The Importance Of A Long Distance Relationship
An unknown source once said, Absence makes the heart grow founder. Many have heard this
because it is such a popular saying but what does it mean? When parted from a loved one a
heightened sense of affection and devotion occurs. Couples who are in a long distance relationship
(LDR) can relate to this. A long distance relationship is a romantic relationship between two people
who are geographically separated. Distance relationships transpire for many reasons including
career advances, educational development, military service and/or deployment, imprisonment,
immigration and family responsibilities or obligations. Likewise, couples that are in a long distance

Also, distance couples often share the same feelings of commitment and dedication. It seems
likely that the higher demand for investment and sacrifice inherent to long distance relationships
might be associated with higher levels of dedication among individuals in these relationships
(Gretchen 259). It is human tendency to prolong a task that has taken a tremendous amount of
time and effort. In short, those of distance will work harder at their relationship than those of
proximity because; they have worked to produce a relationship that is stable from afar. A feature
that aids in the stability is trust. Some level of trust must develop as each individual is not able
to observe the others daily life (M. Firmin, R. Firmin, and Lorenzen 59). Yes, trust is important
is any relationship but, it is essential for a LDR. Being away from the other half is unsettling
because, watching the others routine is nearly impossible. Those of proximity may never get to
fully develop these skills because they are around to see the others ordinary cycle. These skills
are key details for a LDR and can be fulfilled in life outside of each other. Comparatively, it is
important through this journey that couples do not lose sight of their individuality. Long distance
couples are provided the time to seek out independence. In short, being in close proximity is not an
essential variable for relationship satisfaction (Phillips). Too often, people who enter

The Causes Of The Capitalist Revolution In Europe
In Europe, a revolution took place. This revolution was known as the Capitalist Revolution.
Capitalism as it s also called, is a system which uses the investment of money, or capital , to
produce profits. This system was introduced and implemented in the year 1250 through the 1500
s. Under this revolution the people were split into a caste. The Church, The Monarch, and The
Nobility took the upper class while those who worked under them were known as the Middle
class. The reason as to why they were known as the upper class was because they owned land.
Their status as landowners gave them the power to basically own slaves or exploit those were in
serfdom to the land owners. Capitalism allowed the wealthy to invest and buy businesses. This
system that allows rich people to invest their money in projects and make or lose even more
money. This lead to a monetary difference between rich and poor. One of the ruling classes was
the Church. the Church became one of Europe s dominant powers when Rome fell in the year
476. The power of the Church grew with the weakening of Rome s secular influences. The ensuing
regional isolation in turn led to a dividing trend in which the various reaches of the Empire,
particularly the distant regions increasingly had to resort to provincial self reliance. Secondly, as
the Roman state s abilities to govern and administer the Empire s vast stretches declined, several
administrative and government occupations were given to local bishops,

and monsters. The creation of these types of tales are to scare children. Just as important is the
narration of scary stories and other stories.
A large majority of stories are used to scare children. There was a tremendous amount of violence,
abuse and cruelty in the Grimm brothers fairy tales, In many folk tales and oral traditions, these
predators are imaginary creatures such as trolls, ogres and giants who are used to to keep children
away from dangerous situations (Davis Boidinot, Violence ans Fear in Folktales) .These stories
scared children to teach a lesson on different topics relevant to the situation. These lessons can

They told stories of celebrations or a large gathering of people for entertainment. It was
considered a gift if someone had the ability to tell a story. The narrator needed to do several
things to be considered a good narrator, to keep his listeners in suspense, the storyteller had
several tricks in his bag ... He supported his words by the mimicry of his face and by appropriate
gestures. .. He also used the different intonations of voice ... (Ms. Boudreau, notes). To add to
this challenge, the storytellers shared the stories orally; the oral tradition was a major part of
the story. Oral narration was really part of life: people told stories from all kinds of contexts at
the loom, in the field, with the needle or adze or brush in hand. What you did ... And next to
ordinary people, professional storytellers of all kinds of tales told tales in the market place and the
palace. (Rob Parkinson, History of Story telling) Narration was a big deal for those

Copyrights And Other Legalities. Copyrights Are More Limited
Copyrights and Other Legalities Copyrights are more limited in scope than patents. They protect
the original works of authorship, not the ideas they contain. In the United States, original works
include literary, drama, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. A computer program,
for example, is considered a literary work and is protected by copyright. A copyright gives its owner
the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute the material or perform or display it publicly.
However, copyright lawdoes permit limited reproduction of copyrighted works without the owner s
permission for fair use such as criticism, teaching, and news reporting. In the United States, a
published work must have a copyright notice, the name... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creators of works protected by copyright, and their successors (generally referred to as right
holders ), have certain basic rights under copyright law. They hold the exclusive right to use or
authorize others to use the work on agreed terms. The right holder of a work can authorize or
prohibit: its reproduction in all forms, including print form and sound recording, its public
performance and communication to the public, its broadcasting, its translation into other languages,
and its adaptation, such as from a novel to a screenplay for a film. Similar rights that the right
holders may hold are: fixation (recording) and reproduction are granted under related rights. Many
types of works protected under the laws of copyright and related rights require mass distribution,
communication and financial investment for their successful disseminations (for example,
publications, sound recordings and films). Hence, creators often transfer these rights to companies
better able to develop and market the works, in return for compensation in the form of payments
and/or royalties (compensation based on a percentage of revenues generated by the work). The
economic rights relating to copyrights are of limited duration as provided for in the relevant World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties beginning with the creation and fixation of the
work, and lasting for at least 50 years after the creator s death. National laws may establish longer

Case Study Of SucarГ©l
1. Analyse the other negotiators and how they might impact on the negotiation.
The goal of this negotiation for SucarГ©l is to establish a joint venture with five potential partners
to reach the german market. Before the meeting, we are going to analyze them.
On the one hand, both five companies have some things in common. For example: they are from
USA, like us. So, we won t have cultural shocks and our negotiation style will be the same: fast,
hard and direct to the objective. Another point in common is that they have presence in Germany,
so they know the country and can help us to enter in it using their distribution channels. Another
common aspect is that all the companies sell their products in similar channels like us

Each company can help the rest to go the countries where they have presence by sharing their
distribution channels. For instance, SucarГ©l can help Nevison to conquer the US market and we
can offer our HQ in Lima (PerГє) to Chansard to enter in Brazil.
We want to have an employee of SucarГ©l in the high directive of the joint venture, but we should
be flexible in that ir order to ease the agreement.
To reach an agreement with the time of the joint venture, we can create the joint venture for five
years and analyze the success of the project to decide if we prologue it for 5 more years or not.
So, the company duration can be extended in periods of five years with periodic revisions. In
accordance with the places where we will launch our products, it should be studied in each country
to localize the principal centres of demand for each kind of product. So, the company can be
divided in different lines of products (one for each company), that will be managed in an
autonomous way but with central divisions, like HR, finance

Perfecting Critical Thinking Skills
According to the section, the current employers are claiming that lacking superior critical
thinking and problem solving skills for the new graduates, probably because the dynamics of
today s times demand in addition to the standard skills required to succeed in the running for a
labor, the need for a new, broader set of skills and knowledge driven by innovation, allowing a
flexibility to apply them both in work and personal life.
Certainly this is justified, mainly because living in the age of communication, to acquire knowledge
and information is no longer an obstacle in the formation of students and only stands out in the
crowd those who have discernment to solve complex and/or unexpected problems, analytical
capacity and judgment, keeping ethics ever present in the way of thinking and acting, in addition to
continuous learning ability, and of course, critical thinking (Forbs, 2016). ... Show more content on

My curiosity helps me a lot. Knowing what to do and how to act without being biased is very
important, but so is not enough, knowing what not to do is also important, distinguishing what is
good and what is bad reasoning, an example is to apply these principles in life beyond studies
([C02 Critical Thinking, nd), through small changes in attitudes. Mistakes are also valuable
because to think critically is also to accept them, so often I learn a lot by accepting my mistakes,
understanding what I did wrong, and why I did it, and trying to find solutions to these

The Power Of A Single Officer
The government is the only who can use brute force, the reason of this is that without the use of
force the people would be in anarchy, but the government relies this power to the officers in
order to distribute their power. However, when is the time that this power is too much for a
single officer? This question had made Many people often criticize the officer s procedures and
methods without thinking on the officer and citizen s safety. In this essay, a rookie officer who
will give his point of view about the force given as an opinion, explain how the use of power will
have a breaking line if it harms him or her or the people that they are protecting, and what type of
training and weapon arsenal would help them do their job more... Show more content on

However, his/her perspective as a rookie may be different from the older and more experience
officers because of two major reasons, the experience of the real life that the officers have gather
already with their service and the new methods and technology learned by the rookie at the
academy because from every different generation, their perspective of ethics will be different.
Consequently, the two resolutions that the rookie possible suggest will be the idea that the police
officer is not allow to use the force unless the life of them or any innocent person is in danger.
The second idea may be to change the type of training given to the officers and a change in their
equipment for security reasons such as the protection of the officer and people instead of the use
of weapons that may cause several mental issues or broken bones or in the worse cases cause death.
The breaking line about when an officer should use the force in order to arrest somebody is
when the officer or any other individual is at danger of being harmed or become a hostage.
Charles V. PeГ±a gave his point of view to Samuel Lover s Rory O More idiom Better safe than
sorry and how should be defined. He stated, Essentially, it means that it is better to take
precautionary actions rather than be sorry that you didn t if something bad happens . This opinion
proves that for the officer would be easier and safer to take immediate action instead of waiting for
a signal

Theories Of Progressive Education
Progressive Learning Theory in the US
Sarah Cooper Rashaell Keating
John Dewey s Progressive Learning Theory is defined as any various reformist educational
philosophies and methodologies since the late 1800s, applied especially to elementary schools, that
reject the rote recitation and strict discipline of traditional, single classroom teaching, favoring
instead more stimulation of the individual pupil as well as group discussion, more informality in
the classroom, a broader curriculum, and use of laboratories, gymnasiums, etc. in the school. It is
essentially an umbrella theory for many theories that have contributed to what is known as,
Progressive Education.
Key Influences Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (1782 1852) was a German pedagogue and
educator who first coined the term kindergarten in 1840. His main contribution was realizing the
importance of activity of the child, such as free work and games, in learning and that each child
learns differently and has different capabilities. He was a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi
(1746 1827) who felt that individuals best learned through experiences and through a direct
manipulation and experience of objects and children were intrinsically motivated.
Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of
pedagogy as an academic discipline. According to Herbart, abilities were not innate but could be
instilled, so a thorough education could provide the framework for moral and

Apollo 13 Movie Physics Essay
Apollo 13 Essay Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly in space or work on the
crew at NASA that helps the astronauts get home safely? These two jobs both use many of the
laws of physics. In fact, almost everything they do involves physics. Apollo 13 is a movie that
epitomizes what those jobs are like and how much physics is required. The three main laws of
physics in the movie were Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, Newton s First Law, and
Newton s Third Law. One main law in Apollo 13 was Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation,
defined as F=Gm1m2r2, where G=6.67Г—10 11. The first main scene in which this law was
needed was when NASA decided that it would be best for the crew to take a free return trajectory

Another prevalent physics law in Apollo 13 was Newton s First Law, which states that a body will
persist in its state of rest or of uniform motion unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced
force. In most scenes of Apollo 13 that show the spacecraft in space this law was visually
demonstrated. The Apollo 13 spacecraft was always in uniform motion unless it was acted on
by another external unbalanced force. The most significant force in space that would act on the
spacecraft was that of gravity. Gravity from other large masses, such as the Earth, Moon, and
Sun, acted as the external unbalanced force which changed the spacecraft s speed and direction.
If all the gravity in space were to suddenly disappear and the net force on the spacecraft were to
be zero then the Apollo 13 ship would simply adhere to its uniform motion tangent to its original
path. Another group of scenes in which Newton s First was displayed was when the astronauts
moved around in their spacecraft while in space. It is quite easy to tell from watching how the
astronauts moved around in 0g that they were exhibiting Newton s First Law. If an astronaut in the
movie applied a force in one direction to move in the other that astronaut would then move at a
constant velocity (in relation to the ship) as soon as that force was removed. On the contrary, if no
force were applied,

Her plan went wrong, and she killed her only son. The stepmother blamed Hase for her loss. This is the second example of karma. Hase s stepmother was jealous of her which is a sin, and bad karma came to her. She tried to kill Hase and bad came back to her. This is an example of Good vs. evil when good, defeats evil. In both of these short stories it explains for Good vs. Evil is connected to karma. When you do good things good karma will come back to you. When you do bad, horrible things will happen to you in return. The example of Yuhei not obeying his wife s orders is an example of Evil, which resulted in him having a horrible life. When he let the crane free and him being bless with a wife was an example of good karma. This shows that one person can make good and bad actions. • 3. Ocean Stratification The earth, as we know, is and always has been changing. Although we may not be able to feel or even see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A major problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some believe that the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have proposed many potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea suggests filling regions of the ocean with ironand other various nutrients where little biological production exists. This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down deeper into the ocean. Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die and fall to the ocean floor. Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could lower the amount of carbon dioxidein the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating process. Iron is one of the most important nutrients that are necessary for phytoplankton. This nutrientcan be found short in supply where stratification has occurred in ocean waters.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, ocean fertilization seems to be one of the only options us geo engineers have left to try to stop, or even just slow down human harm on the climate. If a large group of people could come together behind ocean fertilization, the effort could remove over thousands of tons of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. Although there are many experts who believe that this system would actually cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very slim. The pros of ocean fertilization heavily outweigh the cons in the situation. The chance that this system might improve our climate and the overall health of the ocean drastically is a good enough reason to give it a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, the genesis of the nuclear programme and its main drivers will be analysed. Finally, it will discuss the possible consequences of a nuclear Iran, specifically, the theoretical debate, the lack of incentives for a nuclear domino, with special reference to Israel and others key countries and, lastly, the factors which could lead to a deepening of the current regional instability. IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back to 1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United States (USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to develop a structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human capital. The arrival of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the suspension of nuclear assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the new regime. Later, however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the regime to resume the programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Antigone By Sophocles Antigone In Sophocles, Antigone begins with the stages of grief as Antigone mourns the loss of her two brothers, Polyneikes and Eteokles, who die simultaneously in face to face combat in Thebes. Eteokles dies with honor fighting for the Thebesians and is honored with rituals and a proper burial. The body of Polyneikes, who attempted to burn the city of Thebes, is left for the dogs and birds to savage. Thesbesian s law forbids anyone giving a traitor, like Polyneikes, a proper burial, for that itself is a crime punishable by death. Antigone is angered that Polyneikes is not going to receive a proper burial and is determined that she must honor him even if it means the end of her life. Antigone alone attempts to bury her brother, but is captured and imprisoned, at which point she decides to form a noose around her neck and end her life. Sophoclesleaves the reader to question whether Antigone s suicide is an act of heroism, a stand for the citizens of Thebes, or a selfish way of coping with personal trauma. Antigone sought assistance in burying her brother from her only family member alive, her sister, Ismene, who tries to reason with her. Ismene proclaims, Remember, we re women. How can we fight men? They re stronger (Sophocles 749). The physical statures of neither Polyneikes nor Antigone were not ever mentioned, but in general men typically weigh more and have a larger build than women. The NFPA was established in 1896 with the primary goal of eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire related hazards. To do this, the organization developed codes and standards along with training and educations to help firefighters perform skills and other objectives safely. Since the formation of the NFPA, 300 codes and standards have been created to reduce the risk and effects of fire by focusing on decisive factors for building, processing, design, service, and installation in the United States (NFPA, 2015). Although these standards can help reduce the number of injuries and deaths to firefighters, these codes and standards are not laws. Instead, the fire department or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) must adopt the code and standard in order for it to be implemented into that fire organizations SOPs. Consequently, the fire services should analyze these codes and standards and determine which ones if not all, could further decrease the number of LODDs. Another important organization that provides the fire service with helpful information is NIOSH. This can be seen in various statements about Jazz, such as Boris Gibalin commit, The Jazz Mania has taken on the character of a lingering illness and must be cured by means of forceful intervention. 1 This conflict can be traced through out the history of Jazz, as Classical composers have relatively disregarded this new type of music. To most people the infusion of African tonality into Duke Ellington s music to create Negro art , questions the connection between European music and Jazz. Here Constant Lambert responds to this. If anyone doubts the essential element of European sophistication in Jazz, it is a simple matter for his to compare a typical piece of Jazz, such as Duke Ellington Swampy River, first with a lyric by Grieg and then with a record of African music. It must be clear to even the most prejudiced listener that apart from a few rhythmical peculiarities the Ellington piece has far more in common with the music of Grieg 6 One must understand that even when Duke infused the two tonalities of music; he still was obligated to work within guidelines of the European Harmonic tradition.7 Yet by him keeping with this tradition he is not obligated to write music in the form of previous composers such as Stravinsky, Mozart, or Bach, for to do that would delegate Ellington s music as a duplicate work. Here is the contradiction, for no Classical composer has ever been chastise for creativity in their sound, and yet how do you explain the criticism of Ellington s work? That may mean subjecting it to statistical operations that can tell you not only what kinds of relationships seem to exist among variables, but also to what level you can trust the answers you re getting. • 21. Dukes v. Wal-Mart Essay Dukes v. Wal Mart Stores, Inc. is a legal battle concerning whether or not the company engaged willfully in gender based discrimination. Underlying causes, organizational culture and ethical issues will be examined in determining how the largest private employer in the United States could have fallen prey to unfair labor practices. In 1999, women constituted 72% of Wal Mart s hourly employees, but only 33% of its managerial employees (Bhatnagar, 2004). Employee Cleo Page actually experienced the effects of Wal Mart s unethical labor practices. Ms. Page began working for Wal Mart as a cashier in one of their super centers in Tulsa, OK making $6.50/hr. Page resigned from her job three years later from a store in California where she was making $10/hr. Over the three years of employment, she received above standard evaluations, but despite her desire for advancement, she was passed over twice for promotions by less qualified male applicants. Page had also encountered other women who had similar experiences, some who were in the same position for eight years. Three years of earning low wages adversely affected Page s financial situation. She had little savings and as a result, she lost her house in California in addition to the foster children she was caring for. Page declared that she would not have lost her home and children if she had been given the well deserved promotion. The promotion came with many great incentives and better bonuses. This alone would have improved her financial situation. Wal Mart is the largest retail store in the United States. The root cause of the problem with Wal Mart is that they try to increase their profits by minimizing their costs. Many internal policies are used to maintain this philosophy. Those goals were staying turned out, fully extending the working leg to the back, and carrying the working leg en l air at the same height. In addition to these three aspects, new challenges were discovered over the current ones. The new challenges have allowed myself to set new goals for the upcoming semester of Spring 2018. During the midterm conference, Dr. Sims provided me a few exercises I could work on outside of class to improve my turnout. The exercise I have really worked on is with a theraband. This exercise consists of tieing the theraband around the thigharea tight enough to allow resistance and begin to externally rotate the legs. This exercise targets turning out from the hips as I was turning out from the knee, which could be another cause of my knee pain. Not only is working with a theraband working, but continuing to think about sending energy out from the tip of my hip of the working leg into my big toe. With this idea in my head, it allows me to fully lengthen the working leg and not let the knee drop or turn parallel to the floor. For example, while in arabesque or working to the back, I have had a bad habit of letting the working leg go into flexion. Not only in this area, but as well as rhon de jambes. This commercial cost nine dollars. Today, a typical commercial costs around two hundred dollars to a thousand dollars (Luckin). Both society and television have drastically changed from when television was first invented to today. Few inventions have had as big of an impact on American society as the television has. The invention of television has impacted American society positively, because it helps spread information faster and influences the way people think about important social issues, it provides cultural experiences and can help broaden viewer s perspectives, and it entertains and brings communities together. II. Background: The invention of television did not happen overnight. Different experiments by various inventors and scholars immersed in the fields of electricity and rado resulted in the development of the basic technologies and ideas that later became the groundwork for the invention of television ( The History Of Television ). Paul Nipkow was one of the first inventors that had a huge impact on the future invention of television. Paul discovered television s scanning principle, which is when the light intensities of small portions of an image are analyzed and transmitted. In short, those of distance will work harder at their relationship than those of proximity because; they have worked to produce a relationship that is stable from afar. Those of proximity may never get to fully develop these skills because they are around to see the others ordinary cycle. These skills are key details for a LDR and can be fulfilled in life outside of each other. Comparatively, it is important through this journey that couples do not lose sight of their individuality. • 40. Case Study Of SucarГ©l 1. Analyse the other negotiators and how they might impact on the negotiation. The goal of this negotiation for SucarГ©l is to establish a joint venture with five potential partners to reach the german market. Before the meeting, we are going to analyze them. On the one hand, both five companies have some things in common. For example: they are from USA, like us. So, we won t have cultural shocks and our negotiation style will be the same: fast, hard and direct to the objective. Another point in common is that they have presence in Germany, so they know the country and can help us to enter in it using their distribution channels. Another common aspect is that all the companies sell their products in similar channels like us (supermarkets, bars, ... For instance, SucarГ©l can help Nevison to conquer the US market and we can offer our HQ in Lima (PerГє) to Chansard to enter in Brazil. We want to have an employee of SucarГ©l in the high directive of the joint venture, but we should be flexible in that ir order to ease the agreement. To reach an agreement with the time of the joint venture, we can create the joint venture for five years and analyze the success of the project to decide if we prologue it for 5 more years or not. So, the company duration can be extended in periods of five years with periodic revisions. In accordance with the places where we will launch our products, it should be studied in each country to localize the principal centres of demand for each kind of product. So, the company can be divided in different lines of products (one for each company), that will be managed in an autonomous way but with central divisions, like HR, finance ... Perfecting Critical Thinking Skills According to the section, the current employers are claiming that lacking superior critical thinking and problem solving skills for the new graduates, probably because the dynamics of today s times demand in addition to the standard skills required to succeed in the running for a labor, the need for a new, broader set of skills and knowledge driven by innovation, allowing a flexibility to apply them both in work and personal life. Certainly this is justified, mainly because living in the age of communication, to acquire knowledge and information is no longer an obstacle in the formation of students and only stands out in the crowd those who have discernment to solve complex and/or unexpected problems, analytical capacity and judgment, keeping ethics ever present in the way of thinking and acting, in addition to continuous learning ability, and of course, critical thinking (Forbs, 2016). ... • 43. The Power Of A Single Officer The government is the only who can use brute force, the reason of this is that without the use of force the people would be in anarchy, but the government relies this power to the officers in order to distribute their power. However, when is the time that this power is too much for a single officer? This question had made Many people often criticize the officer s procedures and methods without thinking on the officer and citizen s safety. In this essay, a rookie officer who will give his point of view about the force given as an opinion, explain how the use of power will have a breaking line if it harms him or her or the people that they are protecting, and what type of training and weapon arsenal would help them do their job more... However, his/her perspective as a rookie may be different from the older and more experience officers because of two major reasons, the experience of the real life that the officers have gather already with their service and the new methods and technology learned by the rookie at the academy because from every different generation, their perspective of ethics will be different. Consequently, the two resolutions that the rookie possible suggest will be the idea that the police officer is not allow to use the force unless the life of them or any innocent person is in danger. The second idea may be to change the type of training given to the officers and a change in their equipment for security reasons such as the protection of the officer and people instead of the use of weapons that may cause several mental issues or broken bones or in the worse cases cause death. The breaking line about when an officer should use the force in order to arrest somebody is when the officer or any other individual is at danger of being harmed or become a hostage. Charles V. • 44. Theories Of Progressive Education Progressive Learning Theory in the US Sarah Cooper Rashaell Keating John Dewey s Progressive Learning Theory is defined as any various reformist educational philosophies and methodologies since the late 1800s, applied especially to elementary schools, that reject the rote recitation and strict discipline of traditional, single classroom teaching, favoring instead more stimulation of the individual pupil as well as group discussion, more informality in the classroom, a broader curriculum, and use of laboratories, gymnasiums, etc. in the school. It is essentially an umbrella theory for many theories that have contributed to what is known as, Progressive Education. Key Influences Friedrich Wilhelm August FrГ¶bel (1782 1852) was a German pedagogue and educator who first coined the term kindergarten in 1840. His main contribution was realizing the importance of activity of the child, such as free work and games, in learning and that each child learns differently and has different capabilities. He was a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746 1827) who felt that individuals best learned through experiences and through a direct manipulation and experience of objects and children were intrinsically motivated. Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of pedagogy as an academic discipline. According to Herbart, abilities were not innate but could be instilled, so a thorough education could provide the framework for moral and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Apollo 13 Movie Physics Essay Apollo 13 Essay Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly in space or work on the crew at NASA that helps the astronauts get home safely? These two jobs both use many of the laws of physics. In fact, almost everything they do involves physics. Apollo 13 is a movie that epitomizes what those jobs are like and how much physics is required. The three main laws of physics in the movie were Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, Newton s First Law, and Newton s Third Law. One main law in Apollo 13 was Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, defined as F=Gm1m2r2, where G=6.67Г—10 11. The first main scene in which this law was needed was when NASA decided that it would be best for the crew to take a free return trajectory back to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another prevalent physics law in Apollo 13 was Newton s First Law, which states that a body will persist in its state of rest or of uniform motion unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced force. In most scenes of Apollo 13 that show the spacecraft in space this law was visually demonstrated. The Apollo 13 spacecraft was always in uniform motion unless it was acted on by another external unbalanced force. The most significant force in space that would act on the spacecraft was that of gravity. Gravity from other large masses, such as the Earth, Moon, and Sun, acted as the external unbalanced force which changed the spacecraft s speed and direction. If all the gravity in space were to suddenly disappear and the net force on the spacecraft were to be zero then the Apollo 13 ship would simply adhere to its uniform motion tangent to its original path. Another group of scenes in which Newton s First was displayed was when the astronauts moved around in their spacecraft while in space. It is quite easy to tell from watching how the astronauts moved around in 0g that they were exhibiting Newton s First Law. If an astronaut in the movie applied a force in one direction to move in the other that astronaut would then move at a constant velocity (in relation to the ship) as soon as that force was removed. On the contrary, if no force were applied, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
