The Gruffalo
This award winning picture book takes the reader through a series of character meetings that ask
questions and build anticipation toward the conclusion. Donaldson uses the message that no matter
how small and insecure you are, using your brain and thinking through solutions can help you to be
respected and get the result wanted. Mallett (2016) highlights that through reading, hearing and
viewing children become enriched with imagination and creativity. The Gruffalocertainly helps
enrich this imagination and creativity within the reader. The words chosen by Donaldson are
carefully constructed to enable the rhyme and rhythm of the story to enact imagination and paint a
picture of the Gruffalo. The illustrations by Scheffler coincide with each other, intertwining and
creating thoughts and questions throughout the story. The most evident of this is when Donaldson
is describing the Gruffalo. The illustrations are so concise and are intelligently drawn so that even
the youngest of readers can understand. Picture books are meant to draw readers in and show how
others live and feel, promote a sense of adventure and enact discovery of new creative thinking
(Mallett, 2016). This picture... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aortic Stenosis Is Recognised As The Most Prevalent Form...
Aortic Stenosis is recognised as the most prevalent form of valvular heart disease in the ageing
population. Increasing life expectancy has resulted in a significant increase in the number of older
patients being referred for consideration of an aortic valve replacement. Although surgical aortic
valve replacement (AVR), or open heartsurgery, remains the best type of treatment for symptomatic
severe aortic stenosis, other treatment options include: Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
(TAVI); balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV); medical therapy. Transcatheter Aortic Valve
Implantation, also referred to as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
, is one of the least invasive
types of aortic valve replacement surgeries. TAVi is important to

Each patient entering the procedure may have different expectations about the outcome of the
procedure, but there is little evidence supporting patient expectation and patient satisfaction.
However, the specialist nurse is a key role in this, and they can set realistic and achievable goals
for the patient at each step along the process. The aim of this experiment was to ensure that the
patient understands that a decision will be reached that will reflect the specialist team s views
as to the best interests of the individual patient (Frame 2015). In regards to the age of the patients
receiving a TAVI procedure, in general the patients are elderly. Several of the studies I read
listed the mean age of their patients as 79 +/ 9 years (Ye et al 2015) (Cordoba Soriano et al
2015). However, the age of the patient does not always have a lot to do with the result of the
procedure. Feasibility and good early outcomes associated with transcatheter aortic and mitral
valve in valve (VinV) implantation into failed surgical bioprostheses have been confirmed, but the
mid term and long term outcomes are unknown (Ye et al 2015). These patients were followed for
8 years to determine the outcomes of the procedure. Another study focused on the short and mid
term outcomes of the procedure, following 100 participants who have received the TAVI procedure
(Martinez et al 2014). One trial I studied reviewed the 5 year outcomes of patients

The Perception Of Blindness Versus Ability
The perception of blindness versus ability to see truths in King Lear Throughout history, noble
kings and powerful leaders have fallen from power due to their blindness towards people they
trusted. Novels, such as William Shakespeare s King Lear convey a similar message. Although
blindness is conceived as the lack of sight by many, metaphorically speaking, blindnessis the
inability to see and interpret the truth due to one s deceptiveness and lies. In King Lear, Lear s
blindness towards Goneril and Regan, and his arrogance, results in his downfall. Similarly,
Gloucester s blind eye towards Edmund results in his downfall and ironically, his loss of eye sight.
Shakespeare conveys, through the life and dialogue of Lear and Gloucester,... Show more content on

Lear says to Kent about Cordelia, I loved her most and thought to set my rest / On her kind nursery.
/ Hence, and avoid my sight! / So be my grave my peace as here I give / Her father s heart from her
(I.i.124 126). Cordelia s reply towards Lear is honest, but less persuasive compared to Regan s or
General s and Lear curses Cordelia and tells her that he wishes to never see her again. Lear
blinded does not see what Regan and Goneril are planning and more importantly what his blindness
will lead him in too.
Though Lear is blind, he realizes later what he has done after his downfall. When Regan and
Goneril betray Lear, Lear goes mad and loses his sanity as he realizes his mistake. The fool tells
Lear, Fathers that wear rags / Do make their children blind. / But fathers that bear bags / Shall see
their children kind (II.iv.40 43). The fool tells Lear that Lear gave too much worldly things to
Regan and Goneril, such as land, and the daughters got too greedy and now took everything from
Lear and left him with nothing, but if Lear gave more of his true love and care to his daughters,
they would have cared about him and would not be this greedy. Lear trusted his daughters to
make the right choices, but Regan and Goneril used that trust against Lear as Lear says, I
remember thine eyes well enough. Dost thou squiny at / me? No, do thy worst, blind Cupid. I ll
not love (IV.vi.152 155). Lear

The Truman Show By Peter Weir Essay
The Truman Show (1998), directed by Peter Weir portrayed a grand metaphor for American
culture in the 90 s. The movie s message to us is that we are stuck in a media landscape full of
fantasies that is catered to the interests of more powerful people. If we want to live an authentic
life and be free, we should put distance between ourselves and the comfort that is our media
filled culture. We have to leave the safety that is the media s grasp and be willing to live in the
world the way it actually is. In the 1990 s, television culture in particular was in full swing.
Television is such a powerful tool as it has the potential to heavily influence our mindsets on topics.
The Truman Show showed us an exaggerated reality of 90 s culture through a utopian/dystopian
society in which morals are put aside for the purpose of a television show. Since its inception in the
1950s, television has become an integral part of American society. Television has always been a
means of entertainment, but it has developed into something further. Television is a tool that can
reflect and nurture values and morals. Throughout the years, television and our society have had a
symbiotic relationship. Our culture influenced television, while television influenced our society.
When The Truman Show came out, it embodied our media culture from the past, but it also
predicted what was to come after the movie was released. When television networks first came on
the scene, they consciously stayed clear from

Freud s Theory Of Dreams
Have you ever wondered why you dreamed? In spite of the fact that the exact meaning of dreams
has yet to be proven, there has been innovative advances to both scientific and psychological
understanding dreams. What is known is that dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and
sensations occurring in a person s mind during sleep. There has been several different theories
developed to explain why we dreambut there has yet to be one to be proven to be true.
Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist, dream theory was one of the first and most in depth.
Freud expressed dreams to be the royal road to the unconscious . In July of 1895, Freud has a
dream that inspired his theory. He had a patient, Irma, who wasn t doing well in treatment. Freud
blamed himself for Irma s failure and he felt guilty. In Freud s dream, he met Irma and examined
her, in the dream he saw a chemical formula for a drug that another doctor had given her. It then
dawned on him that it was not his fault that Irma was not improving. Freud s understood that this
dream was a wish fulfillment. He wished that Irma s incapability was not his fault and his dream
made this wish come true, because it was another doctor s fault. From that day on Freud continued
on the belief that dreams were the fulfillment of wishes. Symbols are the way dreams are
interpreted. A symbol can represent any feeling or idea that has a much deeper meaning than a
person might think of. These symbols can leave a person confused and very

Girls Club Mission Statement
I am placed at the Boys and Girls Club in Vineland, New Jersey. We have a mission statement
which is prevalent not only to our small club in Vineland, but the Boys and Girls Clubs of
America, which includes all of the Boys and Girls Clubs nationwide. Our mission statement is to
enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as
productive, caring, responsible citizens. To me, this mission statement is especially important to
our location because the children who go to this club are from an extremely underserved
neighborhood, and most of them do not have a desirable role model or parent to look up to at

Laws In Harry Potter
How many laws does mankind need to survive? Mankind needs at least three main laws to keep
the world spinning. In the book Harry Potter written by J. K. Rowling they had a forbidden
curse. The forbidden curse took a life from the world. Another example is Night written by Elie
Wiesel a young man was hanged because of theft. Another book had an example of the effects of
not having free speech, The Giver written by Lois Lowry. If the world had these three main laws
the world would be much simpler. The first law should be thou shalt not kill. Killing darkens the
soul and turns a good person into a naughty one. Killing is vicious and not only hurts the person
being killed but all of his family and friends. Thou shalt not kill is a commandment from our Holy
Father. If God thought this rule is important enough to carve into stone, it is important enough to
follow. In the book Harry Potter written by J. K. Rowling, Alastor Moody demonstrated the
forbidden curse on a spider and turned a happy student into a sad student.... Show more content on

Free speech is the first amendment. This amendment has been changed over time. It started out
with white males have free speech, to all whites, and finally every man and women with every
race. When races that were not white couldn t speak their minds, riots broke out and many
people died. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life trying to get equal rights for all black men,
women, and children. Without him the world would be chaos. If people can t speak their
opinion, then someone will have a problem with something and not be able to fix it. This law is
so important because if people can t talk about their problems someone will speak with violent
actions. In the book The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonah was told the truth but everyone was told what
they could and could not say. So he took action and hurt his best friend in the

4 Idols Of The Cave Summary
The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries saw significant increase of interest in classical education
and values, with heavy focus on the development of arts and sciences. This time period saw so
much development and growth in these areas that it is regarded as the ending of the renaissance
and has been given the credit of having officially bridged to a new age of modern history . Included
among the philosophers, educators and theologians responsible for this period immense
development lies Sir Francis Bacon. Bacon, most popularly regarded as major contributor to the
development of natural philosophy during the English Renaissance due to his desire to divulge into
and eventually challenge Aristotelian methodology, resulting in our modern day understanding of
the scientific method. He believed that truth should be acquired through evidence found in the real
world . Bacon continued to investigate and challenge this Aristotelian methodology, eventually
publishing his studies in a book titled New Organon in 1620. He included his beliefs of the effects
that observation has on the mind, calling this doctrine The Four Idols of the Mind. These idols,
which Bacon regarded as obstacles preventing the human race from truly understanding nature and
reality, create a mental block of biases such as racism, gender, or sexuality.

Comparison Of Zoroastrianism And Buddhism
Zoroastrianism and Buddhism, like many other world religions, attempted to answer the big
questions that were being asked in Southwest Asia and India in the Axial Age (700 B.C.E 500
B.C.E) and establish social order. Social order, in this sense, refers to a set of customs and values
that create well behaved citizens and allow a society to exist safely and harmoniously. While both
religions tried to make sense of suffering and provide guidance to people on how to live their lives,
each differs tremendously in their fundamental beliefs. Zoroaster, the founder of Zoroastrianism,
examined human suffering with the idea of two contrasting forces, Good, referred to as Ahura
Mazda and Evil, Ahriman, each represented by light and darkness. Ahriman

Silent Spring By Rachel Carson
The dominant theme of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson is the powerful and detrimental impact
humans have on the natural world. Carson s main argument is that pesticides have harmful effects
on the environment and lead to a loss of biodiversity and quality of life. Carson uses the pesticide
DDT throughout the book as she examines the effects of pesticides throughout the United States.
Though the majority of the book is focused on the effects of pesticides on our ecosystem
processes, she also touches on cases of pesticidepoisoning, cancer, and other diseases caused by
DDTand other chemicals that affect humans directly.
In the first few chapters she describes town where living things and the environment coexist in
peace but how, shortly after, the town is silent and the birds have stopped singing (Carson 13).
She explains that for the first time in the history, people will be exposed to chemicals from their
conception to their death. This was over 50 years ago, when man made pesticides had only been
around for about two decades. It prompts us to ask what level of exposure we are experiencing in
2015.
DDT was somewhat effective in killing off insect pests, but caused bird species to decline rapidly,
while harming other wildlife and human beings in the process. The chemical industry argued for
many years that DDT was completely harmless and Carson accuses the industry of spreading lies
and covering up the dangers of DDT.
The chemical industry is worth millions of dollars and

The Natural Hair Movement Essay
There has been a notable amount of conversation on the internet on the rebirth of the natural hair
movement. Cherise Luter (2014) states that despite afros and the natural hair movement not being
a new concept (i.e. the Black Power Movement), it has gone under what she calls a refreshing
change . Furthermore, what used to be I m black and I m proud , has been replaced with I m me
and I m proud (Luter 2016). So, what is the natural hairmovement? It is defined as a movement
where black women decide to not conform to the social norms of chemically altering their hair and
wearing it in its natural, kinky, or curled state (Joignot 2015). The movement could also be
considered as an outlet for black women to display their racial and cultural pride or to articulate
their political position (Brown 2014:297). However, simply the terminology movement is
something that should be shocking to many. There is a great amount of historical context behind
the continuous influence Eurocentric beauty ideals have had on black women for centuries.
According to Nadia Brown (2014), Black natural hair throughout history has proven to be
recognized as either unintended or intended personal and political statements (298). the beauty
standard in Western society which praises European hair textures, has influenced many black
women to be critical of other black women who choose to chemically straighten their hair, accusing
them of being subservient to the dominant and pervasive racist

The Definition Of Rational Thought
There are several different types of ways of thinking, which undergoes diverse processes. One of
the approaches is rational thought, which is one of the key factors to science (Gauch, 2003). The
science is a particular area proving theories by reasoning (Giere, Bickle, and Mauldin, 2006). Whilst
there have been several examinations related to means people think rationally, it seems to be
important to understand what rational thoughtis; furthermore, the approach can be an influential
factor in academic fields. In this essay, the domain, Urban Design, will be examined as a sample.
Before examining how rational thought is employed in Urban Design field, this essay will describe
the definition of rational thought.
When people think, there are two types of ways of thinking; System 1 and System 2 (Kahneman,
2012). He states that System 1, called fast thinking, is decision making process without an explicit
evaluation, through the process, an idea would be produced intuitively, which is unconscious,
uncontrolled and almost effortless. Besides, Dewey (1933) described tree types of thinking
approaches as effortless means. One of them is unconscious thinking, which is applied in the
situations: being sleep and awake, it is considered that there would be not much or important or
helpful production of this type of thinking. Another one is imagining thinking, which does not exist,
is not an object. The imagination can result in a conclusion for thinker; nonetheless, it is not always

The Pros And Cons Of Framing
Framing is one of the most problematic methods of presenting information to a wide scale
audience. It has replaced flatout bias as a more subtle way to persuade audience members, thus
leaving uninformed people unable to see the whole of the information without the presenter to
completely disclose their values or beliefs. To the uninformed masses, this method removes most, if
not all, hope for a straightforward news service. While framing is just a tool used in journalism,
without any inherent evils attached to it, we still see it s abuse from all sources of news. This
abuse is what makes framing the most problematic methods of presenting information. First we
should begin by defining what framing really is. Framing is when information is presented... Show

We need to conceptualize what newsgroups actively abuse framing, trying to shift the public
towards their ideology (Davis and Kent, 2013). This requires enough people to routinely research
and note several major newsgroups. In doing so, we both eradicate the chains of framing and
continue to advance our own knowledge of what s actually going on. Yes this may seem like a bit of
stretch, however it s not completely improbable. Using the internet, sharing information can be
remarkably fast. And a committee could be set up to investigate and comment on newsgroups that

The Civil Rights Movement and To Kill a Mockingbird
The beginning of the Civil Rights Movement era corresponds with the time that Harper Lee was
writing about Scout Finch and her brother Jem. They live in the very state that events like the
Montgomery Bus boycott would take place. The fictional town of Maycomb is in Alabama, the
same state where Martin Luther King Jr. would rise to be the voice of African Americans aching
for equality. The actual movement may have started in 1960 but that is the same year that To Kill a

can see the attitude of a want and need for equality in characters and some events. The civil rights

Later, due to the events of the boycott, Martin Luther King Jr. emerged and was the movement s
most effective leader (Clayborne Carson). He is known for his nonviolent tactics and his I Have
a Dream speech. Martin Luther King Jr. was also a member of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and later became the president of the SCLC in 1957
following the Montgomery Bus Boycott. To Kill a Mockingbird was written and published in
1960, in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement (Carolyn Jones). This time was just a few years
after events like the murder of Emmett Till, a fourteen year old boy accused of whistling at a white
woman, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and the ruling in Alabama that segregation on buses is
unconstitutional happened (PBS African AmericanWorld). This goes to show that the time period
had some effect on Harper Lee at the time. To Kill a Mocking bird takes place in the fictional

especially blacks and poor whites are ... expected to remain in their places (Carolyn Jones). The
town sticks to what it believes and that is that African Americans, and poor whites, are lower than
all the others residing in this tired town. Throughout the novel the reader sees events that can be

Cabaret Movie Analysis
Throughout the history of the world, societies have always tried to imagine a utopian way of life
and/or society. But in other cases, the use of raunchy apparel and countless bottles of alcohol are
used to deny the idea of an uprising of a totalitaristic government. This is a brief summary of the
two hours and four minutes of the musical drama Cabaret, directed by Bob Fosse.
Cabaret was pulled from the pages of The Berlin Stories by Christopher Isherwood and later on
adapted into a twelve Tony award winning Broadway musical in 1966. Later on, after Cabaret
became dormant in public eye, Bob Fosse adopted the musical and decided to put in on the big
screens in 1972. Fosse made no mistake of recruiting large names for his movie, such as Liza
Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Gray. The Screenplay of Cabaret would continue on to win eight
academy awards, resulting in an almost near sweep of the 1973 oscars, and be named three
hundred and sixty seven on Empire s list of greatest five hundred movies of all time.
Liza Minnelli received the most recognition for her portrayal of socially conflicted Sally Bowles.
Minnelli had been lesser known before her role in Cabaret. Before Cabaret, Minnelli had a few
small roles, and had mainly been performing on stage in front of live audiences. She was known
for being the daughter of Judy Garland, the original Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Minelli,
before hitting the big screen, received the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for

Memorial University such as the topics of climate change, the geology of coastal landscapes,
oceanography, cartography, global positioning systems, remote sensing, and geographic
information systems. I hold an affinity of interests toward technology used for geospatial data
acquisition such as ERDAS Image and ArcGIS. Map making is a big interest of mine. Recently, I
have spent many long hours designing maps with various software including Adobe Illustrator,
ERDAS Imagine, and ArcGIS that were largely enjoyed. When I graduate from San Francisco State
University in Spring, I will have fulfilled degree elective requirements for both resource
management and geographic analysis techniques.
I am environmentally conscious and have an enormous interest in studying sustainability (reduce,
reuse, recycle). A geographer can survey the world to discover what resources are being used and
with what frequency, how the use of the resources impacts the environment in a negative or
positive way, how to manage environmental impacts, and what action can be taken to preserve
resources for as long as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Initially, after having researched the Department of Geography faculty members, the thesis subject I
desired to pursue was the spatial distribution and impact of weather systems in the vicinity of St.

What Were The Weaknesses Of The Nazi Party
The Nazi party went from being an unpopular political group in 1919 to being the most powerful
political party in Germany by 1932. The reason for this are the weaknesses in the Weimar
constitution, the 1918 Armistice, the 1923 crisis, the Treaty of Versailles and The Great
Depression. Hitler s personality was also very important to the Nazi s success. He was very
arrogant since his early days and he never took a no for an answer. He also was the type of the
person who never gave up even and even if it did not work out he blamed others. All these reasons
helped the Nazis rasie to power.
There was also the Armistice in 1918. This was signed along the Treaty of Versailles when the
Ludendorff told the new government that the war was hopeless and requested immediate ceasefire.

This helped the Nazi party because the Germans were furious about this. Germany has always had a
very strong army and the Germans were very proud of it. Germany lost 13% of their European
territory and one tenth of Germany s people. Apart from that she also lost all of her colonies.
This helped Hitler and the Nazis because all this made the German people angry and Germans
wanted to be in Germany, not some other country. This also shows how Hitler used the German
s self determination and their nationalistic feelings for the growth of his party. The people of
Germany were also angry at the government for signing the Treaty of Versaille and they were
looking for a more extremist party which was like the old kaiser government they all trusted.
Anton Drexler and Hitler had made the twenty five which boosted their support. The twenty five
points made it clear that if the Nazi party came to power they will stop the reparation and they will
not follow the treaty of versaille. He also appealed to all types of people in

Emergency Medical Transportation Resource Deployment Case...
AA is a nonprofit company that offers emergency and nonemergency transportation activities
within Missouri and Illinois. Due to the large area that they service, they utilize a computer
system that prioritizes the resource allocation that is available. Based on the higher call volume,
AA is faced with not being able to dispatch and utilize resources efficiently and effective. In order
to help dispatchers answer nonemergency trips, a system was developed to categorize priority.
This case study discusses the factors that affect the assignment of resources and how the system is
audited for improvements. Emergency Medical Transportation Resource Deployment AA is a
nonprofit organization that render services in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support
(ALS), transportation from ambulance, van and stretcher transports, etc.. They service a number of
clients, organizations and hospitals in transporting areas all over Missouri and Illinois. Due to the
large location in which they service, they were beginning to have problems with efficiency for
dispatchers for nonemergency calls. In order to decrease the response time, work load distributions

Rainbow. We have a quality product; we need to keep our quality high. The trouble is, the
customer just doesn t know it. Salespeople on the retail floor are not knowledgeable enough to
sell our quality products. We need to communicate our story to the customer. I d like to have
enough of an advertising budget to get our story out for once. Telling our story won t be easy. I
ve got two proposals, one for $1.5 million which should achieve the reach and frequency needed
for re establishing our quality image. The other is a bare bones program that will sacrifice national
coverage to make sure that sufficient frequency is obtained in the top markets. If the results are as
good as I think they will be, we should have little trouble getting the rest of the budget next year.
Bart (NSM)
You know how I feel about that, Molly. I d love to have you back our sales effort with some real
advertising for a change. That, plus more realistic pricing, would really get our units shipped in
the ball park. But how are you ever going to get those millions for advertising, especially given the

The Inner Surface Temperature Against Time And Tile Thickness
From Fig.2, it shows that the inner surface temperature against time and tile thickness. On the right
hand side, it is shown that the Forward and the Dufort Frankel method are very unstable. Both
methods had an infinite inner surface temperature at start, which is not ideal. For Backward and
Crank Nicolson methods, both of them had a smooth curve and did not have much fluctuation.
On the left hand side, it shows the temperature at the inner surface against time. Forward and
Dufort Frankel deviated very soon after the tile get heated. This time, the Backward method moved
away from the starting temperature which is a sign of unstable. Therefore, Crank Nicolson was
selected to be the most appropriate method to solve this problem.
In theory, forward differencing and Dufort Frankel methods were explicit method, and backward
differencing and Crank Nicolson were implicit methods. It was suggested that the implicit method
was more stable than the explicit as it solved the equation involving both the current state and the
next step rather than just using the current state.
The dx, dt were found using Fig.2. dt was found where the Crank Nicolson line started to fluctuate
heavily at around 14s (Fig.3), and dx was found when the line started to bend on the right hand side.
Using the maximum temperature and tile thickness, the parameters, nt and nx, were calculated and
used in the shuttle function.
The left hand side of Fig.4 shows that the inner surface temperature across a range

Forewarning
Study Two Forewarning or warning is defined as informing someone of a danger or possible
problem ahead of time. Robert Apsler and David O. Sears (1968) use forewarning to describe two
different kinds of prior warnings to subjects. The first one involves forewarning participants of the
specific situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other
warning is there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be
the changing of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the
topic or position of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). But how could forewarning have any
effect on a participant s attitude? It could be that forewarning... Show more content on

Neimeyer, Rebecca Macnair, April E. Metzler, and Karen Courchaine (1991) are researcher at
University of Florida and they came to the conclusion that individuals with high levels of prior bias,
when forewarning is enhanced and creates a resistance to persuasion, whereas it has the opposite
effect on individuals with more balanced cognitions (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine,
1991). This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent
variable has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased
persuasion in still other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for
these inconsistencies, researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the
impact of forewarning (forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to
get an honest response (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM,
the results of forewarning would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer,
Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). Although, it is not only forewarning that could cause to
resistance to persuasion but person could be motivated by the warning to be more considerate in
their own positions as participants, while generating points of view in supporting their own stands

Law enforcement men and women put their lives on the line to serve and protect the
communities that they live in but it is when one or two of those make a bad decision that can
quickly change the perspective of society. This perspective of trust, respect, safety and integrity
can be changed in a short time by a few unethical choices and to rebuild that perspective can take
many years. This is a sad world that we live in when we cannot trust the people that have sworn to

country, all of this are very inappropriate and all different forms of misconduct unethical to say
the least. The officers of time past were respectful and treated people the way that they should
fair, innocent until proven guilty and there were not as many officers that were being called out
for misconduct. This is partly due to the swing in society but also the capabilities of cell phones,

downfall because of their heinous actions, that are less than ethical but also less than human.

Gifted Program Research Paper
Debriefing the interview responses from our county AIG coordinators proved to be enlightening.
There were many points of commonality between their evaluation of our gifted program, and my
own personal evaluation, but there are also points of contradiction. One particular point I agree
with is that a major strength of our gifted program is that our district is diligently working to
improve the program, within our capabilities. We are of course, limited by financial resources and
time, of which our coordinators have little control. In an attempt to be more responsive to the needs
of our district, and more inclusive, in 2016, our district adopted a new identification process for the
gifted program that included three different pathways to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

We are testing so we know how best to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of
our students, yet we don t differentiate the testing? Another weakness stated by our coordinators
is lack of teacher training, and it is also mentioned that we are focusing our professional
development as a district, on differentiation. Yet here we are, giving everyone the same test, even
if we know it s not in their best interest. All students who qualify and are identified are provided
services on an Individual Differentiated Education Plan (DEP). These DEPs are also intended
to provide social and emotional support goals for gifted students, but I don t believe I ve ever

and genuinely needs to make many more to address the weaknesses of our AIG program. We
have a good amount of resources at our disposal in the county for our gifted population. The most
important resource for any gifted program is personnel, and it is our biggest resource weakness.

Organizational Change Management
Running head: ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Organizational Change Management
Warrien Poole
Abstract
This research project focused on organizational change management initiated through strategic
planning. Knowing that organizational changes are inevitable and necessary for companies to
achieve their mission and goals, the intent was to present an analysis on some of the important
areas that could affect successful outcomes. Included are strategy, technology, structure, and people
as the four major areas of concentration because they are related and most cases, interchangeable
when there is change. There are also techniques explored that counter the resistance of employees
either afraid or unwilling to change.
Introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The science of organization development was created to deal with changing people on the job
through techniques such as education and training, team building, and career planning.
Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of this research was to understand how successful organizations adapt strategic
planning to the need for change. I also wanted to explore the various methods and responsibilities
for implementing changes effectively. My objectives were to identify successful strategies, how to
respond to resistance, and effectively implement change.
Method
Collection of information for this project included books, journals, videos, interviews and
performance observation with organization administrators and employees.
Findings/Results A successful organization responds intelligently to factors which precipitate
change. Economic climates, political trends, changes in consumer demands, management policy or
structure, employment levels and financial resources all these elements are constantly at play to
ensure that organizations clinging on to static structures will ultimately lose out. But change is a
dynamic and alarming thing and HRD must address how to manage it positively, so that employees
give their support and the positive goals set are worked towards with enthusiasm. Research shows
that the success rate for implementing major organizational change is quite low, for several
reasons. First, asking organizations to change the way they conduct their

What Measures Should Be Taken By Tourism
What measures should be taken by tourism businesses to improve the way in which they serve
Chinese travellers? Why should these measures be widely adopted?
Over the last decade, China has been by far the fastest growing outbound tourism market in the
world and the Chinese market is one of the tourism sector s major growth opportunities. Due to
rapid economic growth, rising disposable incomes and loosening restrictions on foreign travel by
the government, the volume of international trips by Chinese travellers has grown from 10 million
in 2000 to 83 million in 2012 (Cripps, 2013). Expenditure by Chinese outbound tourists has also
increased dramatically since 2000. With sustained growth, China has become the largest spender in
international tourism globally (UNWTO, 2013). This remarkable growth has drawn attention from
travel industry, from hotels to restaurants to destination as a whole, to adapt to this inflowing of
Chinese tourists various ways. An essential step to ensure destinations and tourism providers
develop and distribute products that effectively serve the Chinese market is to recognise the
behaviors and needs of Chinese travellers which become more dynamic than ever before (Gray,
2013). The overall satisfaction of Chinese tourists is also an important factor in creating an
appealing destination image for this market. All of theses facts suggested why there is a need for
tourism destination and business to adopt a diverse range of measures not previously

Social Problem Of India Today Essay
India is a very fast developing country in the world, one of the fastest. India also has the fastest
growing economy in the world (Beck). But at the same time there are several problems yet
today in Modern India which is affecting the development and growth of the country. The social
problems in India today have their roots in the diversity of religion, language, and culture. There
were many people to have huge attachment to one s region, language, religion and when these
attachments grow to an crazy extreme level they create intolerance for other religions,
languages, problems are bound to rise. So many cases of tragedy such as peaceful protests, riots

The Four Stages Of Group Development
The four stages of group development are forming, storming, norming, and performing. None of
the stages have to go in a particular order. Forming is the first stage where people join together
for a reason. Our group formed because this class put us together, which was mainly based on the
need to fulfill the goal of passing Small Group Communication and doing a service project
together. This happened when we filled out the sheets about our skills and whom we would and
would not like to work with. We were then all introduced to our new groups in class.
Stage two was next for us. This stage is called storming. This is the tension felt in the group. It is
fine for a group to have tension as long as it is a healthy balance of helpful and unhelpful tension.
There are two different types. The first is primary tension, which is what a group feels when
they first meet. That tension usually goes away over time as the group finds a sense of
cohesiveness. There is also secondary tension, which consists of the stress and strain of dealing
with deadlines, conflicts, and scheduling issues. Our group honestly had a very healthy balance
of tension. We all got along from the very first time we met. I even remember us all saying how
happy we were that we ended up in The Avengers. This continued on even with deadlines,
conflicts, and schedules. We all were very good about being flexible and open to new ideas for the
most part. I think that deadlines just pushed us to work harder and cooperate

The Power Struggle Between Robespierre And Danton
When I first read about this course in a summer email, I was blown away by the description and
content of the reacting class. It seemed like more of a fun game that a few good friends might
play rather than an honors history course. Over the past few months, I have seen that this course
is a combination of game and class, which, in turn, makes learning fun. This is the reason that I
have learned much about history and perhaps even more about myself during this course. I
could say that I learned about the influence and tactics of Thomas Cromwell or say I saw
firsthand the power struggle between Robespierre and Danton. I could say I learned about the
ideas of Rousseau, Burke, Diderot, More, Marsilius, Machiavelli, and, of course, Baldassare
Castiglione. I could say I learned about the crowd, the National Assembly, the courts of Henry VIII
and the Parliament of England. It would be easy to simply say that I learned the basic history of the
English Reformationand the French Revolutionbecause that is the simplest learning accomplished
during this course. However, aside from the rudimentary knowledge of the two events, I saw and
learned from two specific trends exhibited in each of our games: the formation and churning of
factions and the variability and unpredictability of chance. Factions quickly appeared in both of our
games: the Boleyn s versus the Aragonese for the English game and the three parties of the

1). Growing up, I perceived myself as a minority in a predominantly Hispanic and to a lesser
extent Asian area based solely on the restaurants in the area and how often I would see Spanish
and an East or Southeast Asian script on the sign for a store. The latter is seen in the fact 55.9%
of the population spoke Spanish or Spanish Creole and 87% of this group spoke English less
than well, indicating it may be at least a second language for them. Asian and Pacific Island
language speakers makeup 5.2% of the population, however, a greater degree of assimilation
was seen in this group with only 64.4% of this group indicating they spoke English less than
well. Another factor in this is that over 60 percent of the population (61.3%) is foreign born with
the vast majority (90.8%) speaking Spanish or Spanish Creole at home. A quarter mile from my
house there was an entire plaza of Southeast Asian stores and restaurants and a half mile away was
another, larger plaza with mostly Mexican and other Central American businesses and spaces. In

Tone in The Destruction of Sennacherib
Tone in The Destruction of Sennacherib In Lord Byron s poem The Destruction of Sennacherib
the narrator s tone is one of amazement. It s clear to see that he is amazed a how quickly and
easily the huge enemy army is wiped out. He says that the enemy s army was as numerous as the
leaves on the trees and that their spears shined like the stars on the sea , but all the angel of death
had to do was spread his wings to dispose of them. The speaker seems to be in awe of how little
effort it took the death angel to wipe them out, because he says that all the angel had to do was
breath on them and they died. Finally, he seems to be in awe of how total the destruction of the
enemy was, saying that their idols broke and that their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So throughout the whole statement he seems to be just staring on in disbelief and wonder, amazed
at the fact that no one had blown any trumpets to sound an attack, not a single person had picked up
their weapon, and not only that, not one of the entire army had even stirred. (1080) He doesn t just
talk about the army, for he mentions the Assyrian city as well, saying that the widows were crying
loudly, all the idols were broken, and their might

Comparison Between Karl Marx And Emile Durkheim
Name: Crystal Henrick FL6132
Compare and contrast the various early European urban theorists as found in Chapter 1 of the
course text. (300 400 words)
The two theorists i ve decided to compare and contrast are Karl Marx and Emile Durkheim.
Firstly i ll compare them to one another. From all the readings I did and past education on these
individuals I found they have a lot of the same views in regards to religion. Both Emlie Durkheim
and Karl Marx believe that religion is a projection of mans hopes and desires. They both also
agree that religion plays a powerful role in influencing the members of a society. While coming
up with these theories they were both more concerned with the human rather than the religion.
Both of them did not believe in a god or gods. It s been said that Marx saw god as idealization of
human nature while Durkheim believed the idea of a god was society itself. They were not
religious people so it s interesting that they did have some of the same views and theories regarding
religion in the society.
The differences between them are pretty simple. As I was previously comparing their views on
religion I can continue that with talking about their differences in regards to religion, Marx argues
that religion oppresses the people in the society while Durkheim argues that religion unites the
society. Further; Emile Durkheim was a Functionalist, meaning he looked at society in a scientific
way. He believed that members of the same society all wanted the same

Divorce Changes The Family Unit
Divorce changes the family unit
The family is an important part of our life, it is where we belong and where we get our identities
from. For me, family means people that love each other, a strong connection and a long lasting
relationship. The family is the most important value who shaped my life. The traditional family
means parents, children, and relatives. In our days there are a significantly changes that affect the
family unit. One of the frequent changes is divorce. The raising of divorce is painful because
divorce has negative effects not only for the adults but also for the children, and as a result, it
affects the family structure by creating broken homes. Divorce is a life changing experience. When

Children should have pleasant memories about their parents, for example, a vacation spent together,
instead of memories as going to court because of divorce. White describes in Once
More to the Lake a beautiful place from his childhood where he uses to spent the summer vacation
with his family, which resulted in a stronger relationship with his father. He recalls, It is strange
how much you can remember about a place like the one you allow your mind to return into the
grooves which lead back. You remember one thing, and suddenly remind you of another thing
(White, E.B. ). This type of place solidify the relationships in the family unit, and it encourages
families to spend more time together. Secondly, divorce affects family relationships. When parents
divorce, the primary effect is a decline in the relationship between parents and children. After the
divorce, the judge set up rules about the custody and how parents can keep the contact with their
children. The new rules, the new family structure, the new life may enormously change parents
children relationship. Parents should be guides for their children, should be the wind beneath the
wings. Children need to receive unconditional love and, the guidance of their parent should be the
base of their life.
In The Inheritance of Tools Sanders explained how his father guided him trying to teach him how to
use a hammer.

Why Is Human Cloning Controversial
One medical topic that is considered controversial is cloning. Cloning is when scientists create
an identical copy of an organism, DNA, or a cell. There are three types of cloning. The three
types of cloning are DNA cloning, therapeutic cloning, and reproductive cloning. DNA cloning is
when is when a scientist copies part of a strand of DNA or a gene within the DNA. This copied
piece of DNA is transferred to another organism. Therapeutic cloningproduces stem cells which are
cells capable of shifting into any type of cell. These types of cells could treat a disease. The third
type of cloning, reproductive cloning, allows an organism to reproduce without mating. The first
cloned mammal was in 1997 in the Scotland s Roslin Institute. Scientists... Show more content on

This article is neutral and serves as an informative piece to give a general overview of cloning and
both sides. The article gives information on the three types of cloning, history and the opposing
points of view throughout history, and more current information about cloning. The authors
reference many opinions of both the supporting and opposing groups of cloning, but they do not
advocate for one side over the other. The authors of the second article Counterpoint: Human
Cloning Treats Human Life as a Commodity , opposes cloning because the authors believe that it is
harmful to animals and immoral. In this article, the authors state more arguments that do not
support cloning and that a minority of Americans support cloning. However, it briefly states that
Christians and Protestants have mixed feelings about genetically recombining DNA, and some
people from Christianity, Islam, and Judaism do not oppose therapeutic cloning. Even though a
portion of the article mentions that some religious groups support some types of cloning, the
majority of the article opposes

Complications of Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious disease with complications that may have fatal results
in some cases. DKA is defined as an insulin deficiency that occurs when glucose fails to enter
insulin into muscles such as: liver and adipose tissue. When there is an accumulation of ketones,
it leads to metabolic acidosis which causes nausea and vomiting, as a result fluid and electrolytes
are lost (Gibbs). There are many complications of diabetic ketoacidosis, some of the most
prevalent are: Cerebral Edema, Hypoglycemia, and Acute Pancreatitis. Cerebral Edema is a rare
but fatal complication of diabetic ketoacidosis. To thoroughly describe the clinical signs of cerebral
edema is characterized by deterioration in the level of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute Pancreatitis can be a precipitation factor for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). One example of
a case study was with a 74 year old female with a 32 year history of type 1 diabetes who presented
DKA. Although she had no abdominal pain or tenderness, her amylase and lipase levels were
elevated and peaked at values of 1,024 unites/1 (normal range 17 100 unites/1) and 3,455 units/1
(normal range 53 unites/1), The enzymes declined precipitously to normal with rehydration and
insulin administration. Calcium was 11.7 mg/dl (805 10.5) and parathyroid hormone was 232
pg/ml (10 65). It was felt that hypercalcemia, due to primary hyperparathyroidism, caused acute
pancreatitis precipitating DKA (Rizvi). Elevated lipase and amylase levels cause breakdown of
local adipose tissue. The time of increased amylase and lipase occurs 16 25% of the time in
DKA. Some reports show that nonspecific elevations of amylase in DKA. Increased serum
lipase is also assumed to indicate actual pancreatic involvement. (Rizvi) Diagnosis of acute
pancreatitis rests on the presence of abdominal pain and associated increases of amylase and lipas
(Rizvi). Proinsulin is a vaccine significant to insulin production. In a study, researchers injected 80
people who has had type 1 for up to five years with a loop of DNA containing

How to Enjoy Cleaning Your Bedroom Essay
The hardest thing for a lot of students is keeping a clean bedroom. It can be very intimidating to
clean your bedroom, especially if its been a a disaster for quite some time. You may find yourself
getting overwhelmed and asking yourself where should you even start? Well in my experience I
have had the best results just by following three very simple steps, which include creating a good
cleaning environment, getting organized, and finally polishing everything up.
First and foremost before you begin cleaning; you need to create a good cleaning environment. You
can do this by simply putting on any music that you enjoy listening to; I recommend something that
you can sing along with. This will help to distract you from the ... Show more content on

In order to get organized; you need to get rid of any unwanted items that are laying around, such
as garbage, dirty dishes, and of course dirty clothes. Once you get all of these items in their
designated spots, you will be left with only the items that actually belong in your bedroom. From
there you would begin to start putting these remaining items in their proper place. I would suggest
to start with folding all of your clothes and getting them put away in either your dresser or closest
because your clothes often times take up the most space. Then you can focus on all of the other
random things that are scattered about.
Since you have everyting picked up and put in its proper place, you can start on the final step,
which consists of all the polishing and finishing touches. This is when you would get your cleaning
products ready because now all there is left to do is dust, sweep, and make your bed. It is very
important that you remember to dust and clean all the surfaces before you begin to sweep. If
you decide to sweep first, then once you start dusting you will only get more dust and dirt on the
floor and therefore have to sweep a second time. One last finishing touch that I personally like to
do once the polishing is finished, is light a candle. That way it will hide the smell of any cleaning
products you may have used and your room will

Performance and Risk Indicators of Two Mutual Fund Managers
This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis on the performance and risk indicators of two
mutual fund managers. After transforming the returns of the mutual funds into the same data scale
with the other variables, we employ a statistically rigorous factor analysis procedure to identify the
risk adjusted performance of each mutual fund. Then, we apply Chow(1960) tests to investigate
possible investment strategy similarities and potential structural breakpoints.
2.Modelling and Analysis The first model used to evaluate risk adjusted fund performance was
based on the work by Sharpe Lintner Treynor Mossin on the Capital Asset Pricing Model.
Using OLS we estimate: Based on these results we could argue that the mutual funds do not
follow the market closely, but both Managers over perform the index. Furthermore, in order to test
whether or not we have viable explanatory coefficients, a t testing procedure was followed(Table
2). Using a 5% significance level, all coefficients except the market beta of Mutual Fund 1 are
statistically significant. The low R2 in both mutual funds implies that their returns are less well
explained by the Benchmark s movements. However, Titman and Tiu(2011) suggest that low R
squares likely indicate more active management; either departing from a Benchmark or focusing on
stocks with larger fractions of variance attributed to firm specific information. In order to compare
both Managers performance, Kothari and Warner(1998)

  • 2. The Gruffalo This award winning picture book takes the reader through a series of character meetings that ask questions and build anticipation toward the conclusion. Donaldson uses the message that no matter how small and insecure you are, using your brain and thinking through solutions can help you to be respected and get the result wanted. Mallett (2016) highlights that through reading, hearing and viewing children become enriched with imagination and creativity. The Gruffalocertainly helps enrich this imagination and creativity within the reader. The words chosen by Donaldson are carefully constructed to enable the rhyme and rhythm of the story to enact imagination and paint a picture of the Gruffalo. The illustrations by Scheffler coincide with each other, intertwining and creating thoughts and questions throughout the story. The most evident of this is when Donaldson is describing the Gruffalo. The illustrations are so concise and are intelligently drawn so that even the youngest of readers can understand. Picture books are meant to draw readers in and show how others live and feel, promote a sense of adventure and enact discovery of new creative thinking (Mallett, 2016). This picture... Increasing life expectancy has resulted in a significant increase in the number of older patients being referred for consideration of an aortic valve replacement. Although surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR), or open heartsurgery, remains the best type of treatment for symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, other treatment options include: Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI); balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV); medical therapy. The aim of this experiment was to ensure that the patient understands that a decision will be reached that will reflect the specialist team s views as to the best interests of the individual patient (Frame 2015). In regards to the age of the patients receiving a TAVI procedure, in general the patients are elderly. Several of the studies I read listed the mean age of their patients as 79 +/ 9 years (Ye et al 2015) (Cordoba Soriano et al 2015). However, the age of the patient does not always have a lot to do with the result of the procedure. • 4. The Perception Of Blindness Versus Ability The perception of blindness versus ability to see truths in King Lear Throughout history, noble kings and powerful leaders have fallen from power due to their blindness towards people they trusted. Novels, such as William Shakespeare s King Lear convey a similar message. Although blindness is conceived as the lack of sight by many, metaphorically speaking, blindnessis the inability to see and interpret the truth due to one s deceptiveness and lies. In King Lear, Lear s blindness towards Goneril and Regan, and his arrogance, results in his downfall. Similarly, Gloucester s blind eye towards Edmund results in his downfall and ironically, his loss of eye sight. Shakespeare conveys, through the life and dialogue of Lear and Gloucester,... Lear says to Kent about Cordelia, I loved her most and thought to set my rest / On her kind nursery. / Hence, and avoid my sight! / So be my grave my peace as here I give / Her father s heart from her (I.i.124 126). Cordelia s reply towards Lear is honest, but less persuasive compared to Regan s or General s and Lear curses Cordelia and tells her that he wishes to never see her again. Lear blinded does not see what Regan and Goneril are planning and more importantly what his blindness will lead him in too. Though Lear is blind, he realizes later what he has done after his downfall. When Regan and Goneril betray Lear, Lear goes mad and loses his sanity as he realizes his mistake. The fool tells Lear, Fathers that wear rags / Do make their children blind. / But fathers that bear bags / Shall see their children kind (II.iv.40 43). The fool tells Lear that Lear gave too much worldly things to Regan and Goneril, such as land, and the daughters got too greedy and now took everything from Lear and left him with nothing, but if Lear gave more of his true love and care to his daughters, they would have cared about him and would not be this greedy. Lear trusted his daughters to make the right choices, but Regan and Goneril used that trust against Lear as Lear says, I remember thine eyes well enough. Dost thou squiny at / me? • 6. The Truman Show By Peter Weir Essay The Truman Show (1998), directed by Peter Weir portrayed a grand metaphor for American culture in the 90 s. The movie s message to us is that we are stuck in a media landscape full of fantasies that is catered to the interests of more powerful people. If we want to live an authentic life and be free, we should put distance between ourselves and the comfort that is our media filled culture. We have to leave the safety that is the media s grasp and be willing to live in the world the way it actually is. In the 1990 s, television culture in particular was in full swing. Television is such a powerful tool as it has the potential to heavily influence our mindsets on topics. The Truman Show showed us an exaggerated reality of 90 s culture through a utopian/dystopian society in which morals are put aside for the purpose of a television show. Since its inception in the 1950s, television has become an integral part of American society. Television has always been a means of entertainment, but it has developed into something further. Television is a tool that can reflect and nurture values and morals. Throughout the years, television and our society have had a symbiotic relationship. Our culture influenced television, while television influenced our society. In spite of the fact that the exact meaning of dreams has yet to be proven, there has been innovative advances to both scientific and psychological understanding dreams. What is known is that dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person s mind during sleep. There has been several different theories developed to explain why we dreambut there has yet to be one to be proven to be true. Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist, dream theory was one of the first and most in depth. Freud expressed dreams to be the royal road to the unconscious . In July of 1895, Freud has a dream that inspired his theory. He had a patient, Irma, who wasn t doing well in treatment. Freud blamed himself for Irma s failure and he felt guilty. In Freud s dream, he met Irma and examined her, in the dream he saw a chemical formula for a drug that another doctor had given her. It then dawned on him that it was not his fault that Irma was not improving. Freud s understood that this dream was a wish fulfillment. He wished that Irma s incapability was not his fault and his dream made this wish come true, because it was another doctor s fault. From that day on Freud continued on the belief that dreams were the fulfillment of wishes. Symbols are the way dreams are interpreted. This time period saw so much development and growth in these areas that it is regarded as the ending of the renaissance and has been given the credit of having officially bridged to a new age of modern history . Included among the philosophers, educators and theologians responsible for this period immense development lies Sir Francis Bacon. Bacon, most popularly regarded as major contributor to the development of natural philosophy during the English Renaissance due to his desire to divulge into and eventually challenge Aristotelian methodology, resulting in our modern day understanding of the scientific method. He believed that truth should be acquired through evidence found in the real world . Bacon continued to investigate and challenge this Aristotelian methodology, eventually publishing his studies in a book titled New Organon in 1620. He included his beliefs of the effects that observation has on the mind, calling this doctrine The Four Idols of the Mind. Though the majority of the book is focused on the effects of pesticides on our ecosystem processes, she also touches on cases of pesticidepoisoning, cancer, and other diseases caused by DDTand other chemicals that affect humans directly. In the first few chapters she describes town where living things and the environment coexist in peace but how, shortly after, the town is silent and the birds have stopped singing (Carson 13). She explains that for the first time in the history, people will be exposed to chemicals from their conception to their death. This was over 50 years ago, when man made pesticides had only been around for about two decades. It prompts us to ask what level of exposure we are experiencing in 2015. DDT was somewhat effective in killing off insect pests, but caused bird species to decline rapidly, while harming other wildlife and human beings in the process. Cherise Luter (2014) states that despite afros and the natural hair movement not being a new concept (i.e. the Black Power Movement), it has gone under what she calls a refreshing change . Furthermore, what used to be I m black and I m proud , has been replaced with I m me and I m proud (Luter 2016). So, what is the natural hairmovement? It is defined as a movement where black women decide to not conform to the social norms of chemically altering their hair and wearing it in its natural, kinky, or curled state (Joignot 2015). The movement could also be considered as an outlet for black women to display their racial and cultural pride or to articulate their political position (Brown 2014:297). However, simply the terminology movement is something that should be shocking to many. This is a brief summary of the two hours and four minutes of the musical drama Cabaret, directed by Bob Fosse. Cabaret was pulled from the pages of The Berlin Stories by Christopher Isherwood and later on adapted into a twelve Tony award winning Broadway musical in 1966. Later on, after Cabaret became dormant in public eye, Bob Fosse adopted the musical and decided to put in on the big screens in 1972. On the right hand side, it is shown that the Forward and the Dufort Frankel method are very unstable. Both methods had an infinite inner surface temperature at start, which is not ideal. For Backward and Crank Nicolson methods, both of them had a smooth curve and did not have much fluctuation. On the left hand side, it shows the temperature at the inner surface against time. Forward and Dufort Frankel deviated very soon after the tile get heated. This time, the Backward method moved away from the starting temperature which is a sign of unstable. Therefore, Crank Nicolson was selected to be the most appropriate method to solve this problem. In theory, forward differencing and Dufort Frankel methods were explicit method, and backward differencing and Crank Nicolson were implicit methods. It was suggested that the implicit method was more stable than the explicit as it solved the equation involving both the current state and the next step rather than just using the current state. The dx, dt were found using Fig.2. dt was found where the Crank Nicolson line started to fluctuate heavily at around 14s (Fig.3), and dx was found when the line started to bend on the right hand side. Sears (1968) use forewarning to describe two different kinds of prior warnings to subjects. The first one involves forewarning participants of the specific situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other warning is there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be the changing of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the topic or position of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent variable has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased persuasion in still other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for these inconsistencies, researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the impact of forewarning (forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to get an honest response (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM, the results of forewarning would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). There were many points of commonality between their evaluation of our gifted program, and my own personal evaluation, but there are also points of contradiction. Purpose and Objectives The purpose of this research was to understand how successful organizations adapt strategic planning to the need for change. I also wanted to explore the various methods and responsibilities for implementing changes effectively. My objectives were to identify successful strategies, how to respond to resistance, and effectively implement change. Method Collection of information for this project included books, journals, videos, interviews and performance observation with organization administrators and employees. Findings/Results A successful organization responds intelligently to factors which precipitate change. Economic climates, political trends, changes in consumer demands, management policy or structure, employment levels and financial resources all these elements are constantly at play to ensure that organizations clinging on to static structures will ultimately lose out. • 37. What Measures Should Be Taken By Tourism What measures should be taken by tourism businesses to improve the way in which they serve Chinese travellers? Why should these measures be widely adopted? Over the last decade, China has been by far the fastest growing outbound tourism market in the world and the Chinese market is one of the tourism sector s major growth opportunities. Due to rapid economic growth, rising disposable incomes and loosening restrictions on foreign travel by the government, the volume of international trips by Chinese travellers has grown from 10 million in 2000 to 83 million in 2012 (Cripps, 2013). Expenditure by Chinese outbound tourists has also increased dramatically since 2000. With sustained growth, China has become the largest spender in international tourism globally (UNWTO, 2013). This remarkable growth has drawn attention from travel industry, from hotels to restaurants to destination as a whole, to adapt to this inflowing of Chinese tourists various ways. An essential step to ensure destinations and tourism providers develop and distribute products that effectively serve the Chinese market is to recognise the behaviors and needs of Chinese travellers which become more dynamic than ever before (Gray, 2013). The overall satisfaction of Chinese tourists is also an important factor in creating an appealing destination image for this market. Forming is the first stage where people join together for a reason. (300 400 words) The two theorists i ve decided to compare and contrast are Karl Marx and Emile Durkheim. Firstly i ll compare them to one another. From all the readings I did and past education on these individuals I found they have a lot of the same views in regards to religion. Both Emlie Durkheim and Karl Marx believe that religion is a projection of mans hopes and desires. They both also agree that religion plays a powerful role in influencing the members of a society. While coming up with these theories they were both more concerned with the human rather than the religion. Both of them did not believe in a god or gods. It s been said that Marx saw god as idealization of human nature while Durkheim believed the idea of a god was society itself. They were not religious people so it s interesting that they did have some of the same views and theories regarding religion in the society. The differences between them are pretty simple. As I was previously comparing their views on religion I can continue that with talking about their differences in regards to religion, Marx argues that religion oppresses the people in the society while Durkheim argues that religion unites the society. However, it briefly states that Christians and Protestants have mixed feelings about genetically recombining DNA, and some people from Christianity, Islam, and Judaism do not oppose therapeutic cloning. Even though a portion of the article mentions that some religious groups support some types of cloning, the majority of the article opposes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Complications of Diabetic Ketoacidosis Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious disease with complications that may have fatal results in some cases. DKA is defined as an insulin deficiency that occurs when glucose fails to enter insulin into muscles such as: liver and adipose tissue. When there is an accumulation of ketones, it leads to metabolic acidosis which causes nausea and vomiting, as a result fluid and electrolytes are lost (Gibbs). There are many complications of diabetic ketoacidosis, some of the most prevalent are: Cerebral Edema, Hypoglycemia, and Acute Pancreatitis. Cerebral Edema is a rare but fatal complication of diabetic ketoacidosis. To thoroughly describe the clinical signs of cerebral edema is characterized by deterioration in the level of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acute Pancreatitis can be a precipitation factor for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). One example of a case study was with a 74 year old female with a 32 year history of type 1 diabetes who presented DKA. Although she had no abdominal pain or tenderness, her amylase and lipase levels were elevated and peaked at values of 1,024 unites/1 (normal range 17 100 unites/1) and 3,455 units/1 (normal range 53 unites/1), The enzymes declined precipitously to normal with rehydration and insulin administration. Calcium was 11.7 mg/dl (805 10.5) and parathyroid hormone was 232 pg/ml (10 65). It was felt that hypercalcemia, due to primary hyperparathyroidism, caused acute pancreatitis precipitating DKA (Rizvi). Elevated lipase and amylase levels cause breakdown of local adipose tissue. The time of increased amylase and lipase occurs 16 25% of the time in DKA. Some reports show that nonspecific elevations of amylase in DKA. Increased serum lipase is also assumed to indicate actual pancreatic involvement. (Rizvi) Diagnosis of acute pancreatitis rests on the presence of abdominal pain and associated increases of amylase and lipas (Rizvi). Proinsulin is a vaccine significant to insulin production. In a study, researchers injected 80 people who has had type 1 for up to five years with a loop of DNA containing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. How to Enjoy Cleaning Your Bedroom Essay The hardest thing for a lot of students is keeping a clean bedroom. It can be very intimidating to clean your bedroom, especially if its been a a disaster for quite some time. You may find yourself getting overwhelmed and asking yourself where should you even start? Well in my experience I have had the best results just by following three very simple steps, which include creating a good cleaning environment, getting organized, and finally polishing everything up. First and foremost before you begin cleaning; you need to create a good cleaning environment. You can do this by simply putting on any music that you enjoy listening to; I recommend something that you can sing along with. This will help to distract you from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to get organized; you need to get rid of any unwanted items that are laying around, such as garbage, dirty dishes, and of course dirty clothes. Once you get all of these items in their designated spots, you will be left with only the items that actually belong in your bedroom. From there you would begin to start putting these remaining items in their proper place. I would suggest to start with folding all of your clothes and getting them put away in either your dresser or closest because your clothes often times take up the most space. Then you can focus on all of the other random things that are scattered about. Since you have everyting picked up and put in its proper place, you can start on the final step, which consists of all the polishing and finishing touches. This is when you would get your cleaning products ready because now all there is left to do is dust, sweep, and make your bed. It is very important that you remember to dust and clean all the surfaces before you begin to sweep. If you decide to sweep first, then once you start dusting you will only get more dust and dirt on the floor and therefore have to sweep a second time. One last finishing touch that I personally like to do once the polishing is finished, is light a candle. That way it will hide the smell of any cleaning products you may have used and your room will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Performance and Risk Indicators of Two Mutual Fund Managers This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis on the performance and risk indicators of two mutual fund managers. After transforming the returns of the mutual funds into the same data scale with the other variables, we employ a statistically rigorous factor analysis procedure to identify the risk adjusted performance of each mutual fund. Then, we apply Chow(1960) tests to investigate possible investment strategy similarities and potential structural breakpoints. 2.Modelling and Analysis The first model used to evaluate risk adjusted fund performance was based on the work by Sharpe Lintner Treynor Mossin on the Capital Asset Pricing Model. Using OLS we estimate: Based on these results we could argue that the mutual funds do not follow the market closely, but both Managers over perform the index. Furthermore, in order to test whether or not we have viable explanatory coefficients, a t testing procedure was followed(Table 2). Using a 5% significance level, all coefficients except the market beta of Mutual Fund 1 are statistically significant. The low R2 in both mutual funds implies that their returns are less well explained by the Benchmark s movements. However, Titman and Tiu(2011) suggest that low R squares likely indicate more active management; either departing from a Benchmark or focusing on stocks with larger fractions of variance attributed to firm specific information. In order to compare both Managers performance, Kothari and Warner(1998) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
