Essay On Iraq War
Crafting an essay on the Iraq War can be a challenging endeavor, given the complex and
controversial nature of the subject matter. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a
comprehensive historical overview but also in navigating the intricate political, social, and ethical
dimensions surrounding the conflict.
One of the primary challenges is the vast amount of information available, spanning from the
geopolitical landscape to the impact on the lives of individuals directly affected. Sorting through
the myriad perspectives, conflicting narratives, and differing analyses requires a meticulous
approach to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Additionally, the Iraq War is deeply intertwined with the broader issues of international relations,
global security, and the complexities of Middle Eastern politics. Addressing these aspects
demands a nuanced understanding of diplomatic maneuvers, alliances, and the ever-evolving
dynamics that shaped the conflict.
Furthermore, the ethical considerations surrounding the war, including questions about the
justification for military intervention, the consequences for civilians, and the aftermath of the
conflict, add another layer of difficulty. Striking a balance between presenting facts objectively
and acknowledging the ethical implications requires careful thought and consideration.
The challenge is not only to provide a historical account but also to analyze the long-term
repercussions and lessons learned from the Iraq War. This necessitates a critical evaluation of the
decision-making processes, the role of various stakeholders, and the impact on regional stability.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the Iraq War demands a comprehensive understanding of
historical events, a critical examination of political and ethical dimensions, and the ability to
navigate a complex web of information. It is a task that requires dedication, research, and a
commitment to presenting a well-rounded perspective on a topic of global significance.

Mt. Fuji Research Paper
Geologic Background
The volcano
Mount Fuji is a large composite stratovolcano that has been alternating lava flows
and pyroclastic flows throughout its history. The complexity of Mount Fuji is
hidden by its simple conical shape. It is composed of three different cones that lie
one on top of each other. The first to appear was Komitake about 400000 years ago,
followed by Kofuji (Old Fuji) about 80000 years ago, and now the current Shinfuji
(Young Fuji) about 11000 years ago. (Miyaji, 1992) According to Miyaji (1992), the
Komitake volcano had an andesitic lava flow eruption and is located on the northern
flank of Mt. Fuji and the older Fuji volcano was characterized by pyroclastic flows
estimated at 250km^3 along with large scale mudflows. ... Show more content on

From the 860 864 eruptions from a parasitic cone on the NW flank of Fuji, major
lava flows partially buried a large lake and separated it into the current lakes of Sai
and Shoji.
(6)1707 AD
A large plinian eruption occurred from 3 vents on the SE flank of Fuji on 16
December 1707. Traces of different chemistry in the tephras indicate that the
composition changed over time from dacitic to basaltic composition. Ashes could be
found all the way to Tokyo which is 100 km away. (Miyaji, 1992)
The 1707 eruption is the largest recorded eruption of mount Fuji and will be
discussed in more detail.
Tectonic setting
As mentioned in the introduction, mount Fuji is located in the Fossa Magna which
is a tectonic zone traversing the central part of the main island (Honshu) of Japan
from the Japan Sea Coast to the Pacific in a NNW SSE direction. The south Fossa
Magna region results in the collision of the Philippine Sea (PHS) plate with the
Eurasian (EUR) plate in the north and with the North American (NAM) plate in the
northeast. It is complicated by the subduction of the Pacific (PAC) plate in the east
(Nakamichi, 2007) which creates even more activity for the triple junction below

The Causes Of Drug Abuse In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
The plot of the Robert Louis Stevenson s book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde exposes
more than just a suspense novel. It also exposes the use and side effects of drugs.
The book in such presents the eerie feeling that went along with the history of drug
abuse in the 19th century as well as the afflictions the drug abuser and his
companions suffer through. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde don t just belong to the past of
the 19th and early 20th century. It is as still relevant in modern times as it was and
past, possibly even more so. The decades and centuries of drug abuse have been a
mystery to some of the reason why some humans put themselves through the horrors
of addiction. The ideas and theories are numerous, but the root cause differs... Show

Jekyll is the story of so many of the desperate souls who get hooked on the line
called addiction. In the book of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the struggle between
sanity and insanity becomes all too real. The story depicts how Dr. Jekyll
experimented on himself with an experimental drug of his own concoction and
continues to self administrate it to his person. He becomes two different people,
both in mentality and otherwise (Stevenson). He goes from being a gentleman to a
wicked, malicious monster of Mr. Hyde. The man highly respected among his
friends becomes their nightmare. He causes them much grief; in some cases, their
shocking death. The doctor is so dependent on the drug he steals, lies, and deceives
all who care for him. When it is finally realized among his loved ones about his
condition it is too late. His addiction is his death like so many in life. Robert Louis
Stevenson the author of this novel was widely speculated to have his own habit but it
was never proven. He based this story of what was most likely happening in
Edinburgh and London around the turn of the century going in 20th and out of the
19th (McLeod). He used his stories as reflections of the times in which he was born
and grew up in. His stories connected and entertained readers with drama and horrors
as well as relevancy ( ProQuest) (ProQuest). The book of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are
still relevant today. It has affected and exposed readers to drug abuse of past and
Rabbit Proof Fence Film Techniques
The picture Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce is the true tale about
three aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie who get taken from their
mother to soon return back over a long journey. This film represents the past of how
the aboriginals in the stolen generations were treated and taken from their parent so
that they could be purified into a more white generation. During this picture various
audio and visual effects are given to display the feelings and emotions of the
characters contained in the film. Phillip Noyce positions the audience into a position
to feel empathy and sympathy for the girls using various background sounds/music
and camera techniques which helps incorporate the message and tragedy about what
happened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sound effects are essential to this film as its sets the scene of the outback desert of
Australia. When the main characters Molly, Daisy and Gracie are traveling across
Western Australia to get o Moore River there isn t any music but there are many
sound effects such as trains going along the tracks and a car traveling across dirt
roads. Music has also made you in this movie feel the emotions of Molly, Daisy
and Gracie when they are being taken into their dormitory at the Moore River
Training Camp. During the girls stay at the Moore River Training Camp there wasn
t much background music but it is replaced with a lot of various needed sound
effects. Speaking by the host of the Moore River workers/nuns is the most common
sound effects throughout this scene. To show the expectations the girls are spoken to
many times especially when they are at breakfast as the nuns lead the prairies and the
children follow this shows how much the children are being pushed into the British
colonist way of life. Thus, Phillip Noyce has effectively used sound and musical
elements to transfer his characters emotions to the
How Did Hippocrates Cause Of Disease
Hippocrates was born on the island of Cos around 460 B.C. He was a famously
known ancient Greek physician who was later called the father of medicine. Plato
and Aristotle wrote much about him. Hippocrates wanted to prove that disease was
a natural process by collecting data and also by conducting experiments. He wanted
to prove that the signs and symptoms of a disease were caused by the natural
reactions of the body to the disease process. He did not want people to believe that it
came from the gods and spirits. The school of medicinecalled Knidian school was
established while Hippocratesbegan to practice medicine. The way school taught
about the body and diseases was not accurate. For example: The Knidian school

Hippocrates wanted to record what he was observing from the patient. Another
term for that in today s world is clinical observation. It was said that Hippocrates
healed many people including the king of Macedonia. He helped him to recover
from tuberculosis. The Hippocratic Corpus gave Greek doctors detailed advice on
what to do with their patients. He stated: First of all the doctor should look at the
patient s face. If he looks his usual self this is a good sign. If not, however, the
following are bad signs sharp nose, hollow eyes, cold ears, dry skin on the
forehead, strange face color such as green, black, red or lead colored. If the face is
like this at the beginning of the illness, the doctor must ask the patient if he has lost
sleep, or had diarrhea, or not eaten. From On forecasting
Essay on Baseball
An interesting fact that I found while researching my topic is that when fielding a
grounder, you should always begin with your glove all the way on the ground. If
the ball takes a hop, you can bring your glove up to it even if you misjudge, odds
are excellent that your top hand and/or your body will block the ball and keep it
from going past. It took me a while to realize this myself. And what I am struggling
with at this point is finding more reliable sources. A wise man once said You can
have all the physical ability in the world, but you still have to know the fundamentals
(Fundamentals Quotes). The greatest and most talented players in the world still
have to learn and know the fundamentals to play the game. Fundamentals are the
basics, just the simple basics of the sport, and how to play the game. The important
fundamentals of baseballinclude hitting, fielding, throwing, and also base running.
Many people believe that hitting is where it begins. According to an old coach The
main part of baseball that brings people in to the game is hitting. Some have seen
professionals do it on TV and others have seen it in person. But as for hitting it is
the major part of baseball for many players. ( Main ). Another coach agrees going
as far as saying A successful player must be able to hit the ball. ( Basic ) Hitting is
not just a part of the game; hitting is the game. Hitting is the main and most
important part of the game of baseball. Hitting the baseball is what will

Introduction:
Event management involves creation and development of events such as festivals,
conferences, ceremonies, formal parties, concerts or conventions. It includes
identifying the target audience, planning the event concept, organising the logistics
and coordinating the technical aspects prior to the event day. The process of
coordinating the event is called event planning. It involves budgeting, timing,
selecting the venue, obtaining necessary permission, arranging entertainments,
decorations, catering and contingency plans. Many industries, organisations and
groups hold events in order to market themselves, raise money, celebrate achievement
or build business relationships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concept The type of event that will be held on term 3 is a mini school carnival. The
main purpose of this event is to organise a successful activity for the students. The
event will attract approximately 150 people including students and staffs. The main
facilities and equipment needed to stage the event are the following:
Chairs, tables, sound system, dividing walls, etc.
This event is important to the school community as it is the first time that it will
happen for many years.
Themes The theme chosen to promote the event is carnival or a mini circus. This
event will give the attendees the fresh feeling and avoid that same old feeling. It
will also be a free dress day with gold coin donation to increase funds raised. If the
next year levels choose to hold the event every year, it is recommended to vary the
themes.
Stakeholders
Stakeholders are the ones who will influence the success of the event. The following
are the stakeholders of this particular event:

Media Violence And Stereotypes
Children who are exposed to various types of violence from a young age are more
likely to initiate and behave aggressively towards others. Kids may also take part in
aggressive behavior if they feel they identify themselves with hostile characters in the
media. A study conducted on youth investigated the relationship between prolonged
displays towards media violenceand identification with fictional characters (Mrug,
Madan, Cook, Wright, 2015). The results concluded that with increased exposure to
high action movie scenes, there was a greater identification with the fictional
characters presented. A 1999 school shooting, at Columbine High School in
Colorado, involved two teenage boys whose lives revolved around the obsession of
violent imagery
Charles Baker V. Carr Case Study

suing Secretary of State of Tennessee Joe Carr, for the failure to redraw the
legislative voting boundaries, something that was due over 60 years prior. A law that
Tennessee legislature apportioned both houses and provided reapportionment every
ten years on the basis of the population reported by the census, but failed to do since
1901. Baker argued that the population had shifted from the rural areas to the urban
areas and that he himself was being affected and was being denied his equal
protection of the Fourteenth Amendment. He sought to the court that that the state
officials should hold an at large election or they should halt the election process until

The Importance Of Objectivity In Art
As Gombrich describes, objectivity is the ability to represent something exactly as it
is seen in nature without any influence. According to Gombrich, the objectivity of
the representation in a work of art does not define how correct or real the art is. On
the contrary, realism is defined by the information conveyed from the art. If the
information is correct, the work is realistic. Gombrich believes this because there are
multiple limits to representing objectively. One of the most prominent limits is style
because as much as any artist would like to recreate nature objectively, style
overrules. Every artist has a unique temperament which is represented in their work,
making it a limit to representing an objectobjectively. Furthermore, the style itself is
a limit to objectivity as well. Style includes but is not limited to the method of
recreation or technique. The choice of technique restricts the artist freedom of
choice as the artist can only render what his technique is capable of rendering. Not
only is the limit to objectivity seen in the work of art itself, but it is also present in
viewing nature itself with the eyes. The artist will see certain aspects of nature that
others will not see based on his technique. For example, an artist drawing a scene
will focus on the scene in terms of lines. Another limit to objectivity is the preference
of an artist. An artist will only paint what he likes, which is what he can paint.
Answer 2:
I agree with all of Gombrich s
Dst Is Bad For Everyone s Health
The most convincing premise is P2. This sub argument seems to be intended as
deductive because the author suggests that this premise is conclusively supported by
using forceful language to state that DST is certainly bad for everyone s health, as
opposed to possibly being harmful. In this case, the argumentis invalid. It can be true
that DST causes adverse health effects but for some people to not suffer from these.
Therefore, the conclusion that DST is bad for all people s health is false despite the
premises being true. However, if the argument is to be taken as non deductive it
becomes more convincing. The article gives probable evidence that DST is bad for
people s health because it puts people at risk of suffering these negative effects.
Therefore, the argument is strong because the conclusion is probable. Furthermore,
there is no reason to disbelieve the research that provided this information, including
the sub sub argument: early morning sunlight is important for those affected by SAD,
DST short changes these early morning hours which is why DST negatively affects
people with SAD. Therefore, assuming the background research is true, this argument
is cogent. While there may be counter arguments involving people whose health is
not affected, this argument is convincing because it is probable that something which
is linked to damaging people s health is bad for people s health.
To evaluate the least effective argument, let s consider P6. Again, this argument is
Main Cause Of The Great Depression
After world war one, people were very happy that they still survived in the war.
They already understand the war s cruelty, and most of they refuse to have more

that time which is 1929 was called the Great Depression. It is start of Black Tuesday
which is the Wall street crash of 1929 on October 24,1929. The Great Depression
is a wide range of economic depression all around the world. How does the Great
Depression happened in the 1929? There are still some people arguing about the
main reasons of the great depression. Although I believed that it was happened by a
lot of causes such as, inflation and bank failures, I think the main reason for the great
depression is over producing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the Louis D. Johnston and Samuel H. Williamson, what was the US.GDP,
the GDP of US is growing higher and higher start with 1929. What is the GDP?
GDP is stood for Gross Domestic Product, and it means a monetary measure of the
value of all final goods and services produced in a period (quarterly or yearly).
During World war one, the American Farm was a Prosperous Business. In the war,
the government supports the farmers by paying a lot of money for wheat and
grains. It became the reason why so many farmers produce the wheat and grains.
There was over producing in 1929.Over producing affect the price of the produce

too much wheat. It affects the United State government must make the price of the
produce of farmer became cheaper. Not only in the US, but also in the world the

Illegal Immigration Problems
Illegal immigration defies the immigration rules of a designated country by ignoring
the right formalities of moving into that country. It requires immigrants to cross
international political borders throughout water, land, and air improperly. As these
immigrants enter the country they tend to relocate to California. Which cause s many
problems in Los Angeles, California, and the city government should do more to
handle the growing population of illegal immigrants. California is a popular
relocation destination for illegal immigrants. Zong states that about one million
illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles, California, when they get there they use
fake or stolen social security numbers to get jobs (Zong) which takes away from
native Californians. This makes it harder for natives to find jobs which eventually
leads to higher unemployment rates. Sometimes immigrants are helpful when they
migrate, they fill shortages in the work place that no one wants. When illegal
immigrants enter, the United Statesusing a fake social security number they aren t
required to pay taxes. Illegal immigrants don t usually pay taxes until they are caught
and deported or forced to pay them. Which causes the economy rate growth to
decrease and tax rates to increase. This causes citizens tend to work less because of
the increase in taxes. Therefore, making the economy weaker and weaker. This
prevents the government from building new roads, schools, hospitals etc. Along with
not paying taxes

Some examples are light and temperature or gravitational or reaction forces. The
last constraint referred to in this article is task constraints defined as being specific
to the task at hand. Examples are task goals, the rules of the task, and any additions
of tools used to perform the task. The authors stressed the importance of
understanding the unique patterns of movements of golfers as a means of adapting
to the unique constraints they may face. A difference in interpretation of unique
constraints will also affect how the performer performs that task. The authors
concluded that instead of assuming one technique is perfect for everyone, coaches
and instructors should embrace the differences in variability between golfers as a
positive aspect in improving a golfer s golf swing. It is more important to understand
that every individual is different and the coach or instructor should aim to aid the
individual in being able to distinguish specific constraints in order to manipulate and
use them in a positive way to improve their golf swing.
The authors overall concluded that the perfect gold swing does not exist due to the
variability in constraints and the way in which each individual interprets, uses and
lets them affect their performance. The authors mentioned and gave examples of
external and internal constraints that all affect and individual s performance and golf
swing. They spoke about performer, environmental, task constraints and how they
The Flaws Of The Titanic And The Titanic
Despite how entertaining the film Titanic actually is, it has many flaws that can be
pointed out. Titanic is a love story between a woman of the upper class and a man
of the lower class. Throughout the movie they face the difficulties of Jack (Lower
class man) not being high enough stature to please the family of Rose (upper class
woman) while they sail through the ocean on a luxurious cruise ship. As the Titanic
sinks the film shows the two being together and going through the catastrophe that is
the final hours on the Titanic. In the movie, Titanic, director James Cameronused a
few important actual events that occurred in the history of The Titanic. However,
there are some things that were only added for detail, entertainment, and action in
film. Real life survivors from the ship s sinking report what is valid and incorrect in
the movie.
Many things in the movie, Titanic, actually happened in the actual event. One
similarity is when The Titanic s band continued to play as the ship went under. The
lead violinist realized the chaos around him and started playing, soon to be joined
by his band members. An article on the Titanic says, After the ship struck an
iceberg, Wallace Hartley assembled his eight man band, and they eventually
ended up on the Boat Deck near the entrance to the Grand Staircase. There, they
played ragtime and waltzes. ( Questioning The Story ). This is reported by
survivors to be a valid occurrence in the sinking of the Titanic. Another similarity
between the movie and actual event is when ice landed on the main deck of the
Titanic. When the ship hit the iceberg, huge pieces of ice fell onto the main deck.
A story on the Titanic says, Survivor William Lucas reported seeing about a couple
of tons of ice on the fore well [deck] on the starboard side of the ship. ( Questioning
The Story ). Many people report seeing this incident happen that were aboard the
Titanic. The Titanic movie has many similarities to the actual event.
The movie Titanic although, had quite a few differences from the actual event. The
first difference is how the director, James Cameron, made the movie primarily based
around Jack and Rose. These were not real people on board the Titanic. They are

The DTA also contains a Mutual Agreement Procedure Article that provides for the
resolution of cases where a taxpayer is faced with double taxation.
A relief for economic double taxation can only be sought by way of a corresponding
adjustment, but not for a retrospective price adjustment.
A claim for a corresponding adjustment must be made by the taxpayer (STPL)
within six years after the end of the relevant year of assessment under section 79 of
the IRO, which allows tax paid in excess to be refunded under certain conditions.
A retrospective price adjustment would not represent outgoings or expenses incurred
in the production of chargeable profits and hence deductible under section 16.
The assessment, for those years where transfer pricing adjustments have been made,
cannot be re opened under section 70A as the retrospective price adjustment
constitutes neither an error nor omission made in the taxpayer s return or statement
filed with the IRD for the year concerned.
The CIR would only be obligated to make corresponding adjustments up to the extent
to which the CIR agrees that the tax adjustments made by the other side (the
Mainland) represent the arm s length principle.
If the Commissioner does not fully agree with the adjustments of the other side, it is
expected that the two authorities would communicate with each other so as to
resolve the issue.

Training Is the Answer an Article by Rob Rosner
Article Summary Rob Rosner s 1999 article titled Training is the answer ... but what
was the question? 20 questions to make sure your training really works. starts with a
cautionary tale about training seminars gone bad. The author conveys an incident at a
health care training seminar where the trainer s admission of knowing nothing about
health care, derailed the training program before it even started. After the conclusion
of the seminar, the trainer presented his participants with a congratulatory decorative
cactus for completing the seminar. When one trainee was asked what he got out of
the training; he commented I got a cactus (Rosner, 1999). Mr. Rosner s article is
written for training experts and human resource (HR) professionals in mind as a
guidance that can be used for designing employee training programs. HR
professionals can answer these questions to develop useful guidelines for developing
an effective training program or whether training is actually needed in the first place.
In the article, Rosner states that avoiding wasting time, production, and precious
resources on ineffectual training programs is the ultimate goal for successful training
managers. HR representatives need to figure out the solutions to the questions posed
in Mr. Rosner s article. Questions like, what are the reasons for conducting training, is
training necessary, what solutions have been used in the past, and what is the
expected outcome of training are integral to planning an

Essay Dehumanization in All Quiet on the Western Front
Dehumanization in Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front
Winston Churchill always said, You ask: what is our aim? I can answer in one
word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, no matter
how long and hard the world may be; for without victory, there is no survival. In
Erich Maria Remarques All Quiet on the Western Front, victory is seen as the only
option. The soldiers in the novel do whatever it takes like acting before thinking or
ignoring any possible consequences in order to emerge victorious. Paul and his
comrades are exposed constantly to violence, jumpstarting a dehumanizing process
that forces them to rely on animal instinct. This necessary instinct is the only thing...

A good example of this is when Paul is frozen after looking into the enemy s eyes
during the first bombardment, but he quickly gets over this to move on and save
himself. T. S. Matthews in his article Bad News states, They have had to become
soldiers, and they are nothing else. They believe in the present moment; it is not
enough, but it is all they can be sure of (2). Matthews goes on to say, But what keeps
them going in man s machine made hell is the bodily presence of the friends around
them (2). On the contrary, dehumanization is the key to survival. Throughout the
novel, Paul loses close friends of his and each time he does he finds the strength to
keep on fighting. He may not always want to, but he keeps moving forward in his
dehumanized state towards the end. Dehumanization not only affects the soldier
physically but internally as well, both on and off the front. Being affected internally
by dehumanization means that these soldiers are stripped of their emotions, have a
changed their point of view on war, or are given a different mindset. When Paul and
others go to visit Kemmerich, a former classmate whose leg was recently amputated,
they can tell he is on the brink of death. Instead of being concerned, Paul s classmate
Muller is insensitive and is only concerned about his boots. Muller has been so
dehumanized that all he can bring himself to think about is Kemmerich s boots, and
receiving them after his death. Later in the novel, Kat points out

Puccini s La Boheme Essay
Puccini s La BohГЁme: An Analysis
Giacomo Puccini has written a number of operas, including Turandot, Gianni
Schicchi, and Madama Butterfly. La BohГЁme is said to be one of the most
successful and enchanting operas ever written. Written in the romantic period, the
text and score interrelations play an important role in an overall aesthetically and
historically pleasing opera. In a story of love found and love lost, Puccini uses text
and score to create empathy for the characters of La Boheme. Puccini does so
particularly in the aria Donde lieta uscì, sung by Mimi towards the end of Act III.
Mimi introduces herself as a seamstress and neighbor looking for Rudolpho to light
her candle. They soon develop a romantic relationship which ... Show more content

This music is returned to show the yearning for the past and lets the audience, if only
for a moment, remember the carefree love that Mimi and Rudolpho initially shared.
Mimi goes on to sing Addio, senza rancor, which translates to farewell, without
remorse. Although this may seem like a rather sarcastic or bitter comment after the
uplifting score in the past two bars, this line is accompanied by two sustained
chords. Puccini uses this minimalistic approach to reflect the simplicity of the text
itself. Spike Hughes, author of Famous Puccini Operas, says, there is indeed no
bitterness, but a great deal of sadness...the whole scene has a strangely moving
quality of melancholy and nostalgic regret that such things cannot go on for ever.
Although there is no bitterness, you sense a great deal of remorse. This phrase gives
the sense of a moment of rest from the silence in the instrumental to the held soprano
line.
Rudolpho begins to walk away, but Mimi beckons him with an out of place
Ascolta, ascolta, or wait, wait and gives instructions of trinkets she would like him
to gather. These trinkets include a gold ring and prayer book she has left in a
drawer, that she wishes Rudolpho to wrap up and she will send someone to gather
them. The score has a dissonant sense at the beginning of each phrase to show Mimi
s sadness, but in a curious contrast staccato arpeggios occur at the end of each phrase
once more reminding all that
Causes And Failures Of The Weimar Republic
To a significant extent the failures of the Weimar Republic assisted in the rise of
Hitler and the Nazi Party. The underlying fatal flaw of the economics was never
resolved creating the first of many failings that the Weimar Republic faced. Another
apparent weak point was the instability of the political government. Along with
inability to foresee potential vulnerability they were placing themselves in. This all
led the people of Germany to form a distrust in the Weimar Republicand
fundamentally allow extremists parties to offer change. Nevertheless, Adolf Hitlerhad
inherited talent in the ability to manipulate and lead the masses.
The Weimar Republic failed to fully get Germany out of the Great Depression,
creating a spiral effect, allowing Hitler and the Nazi party to propose change and
eventually rise to power. Germany has a long history of being a proud nation and
when the depression hit, it hit hard and was faced with complete resentment.
Historian Knut Borchadt argues that Germany was unable to respond effectively to
the Great Depression because of underlying economic weaknesses , for example
foreign debt, high wage levels and a very powerful trade union movement, Borchadt
also suggests after the Great Depression and Wall street crash, democracy had no
chance (Borchadt in Wormald, 2017). Historian Richard Bessel suggest similarly that
because the SPD never fully consolidated/accepting the new democracy within the
new country, and therefore [it was] never

BACKGROUND
No tC op
On June 18, 1971, Southwest Airlines, headquartered at Love Field in Dallas, began
flying with three Boeing 737 aircraft serving the Texas cities of Dallas, Houston, and
San Antonio.
Southwest s competition was Texas International and Braniff, and, to a lesser extent,
Continental. Continental used every political and regulatory means to ensure that
Southwest would not get off the ground, including keeping Southwest out of the
recently built Dallas Fort
Worth airport and waging a four year legal battle that left Southwest almost bankrupt
at the time of its first flight. One outcome of the legal battle was the so called Wright
Amendment, named after James Wright, then Speaker of the U.S. House of
Representatives. The Wright Amendment prohibited any air carrier from offering
direct service into Love Field from any place beyond
Texas and the four contiguous states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New
Mexico. This law meant that passengers flying into Southwest s central location at

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Njv
Before we can begin to talk about the translations that came after the KJV, it is
imperative that we discuss the religious climate of the United States. As will be
further emphazised in chapter 5 of this paper, the population of the US is
significantly more religious than the one in the UK. This leads to a greater interest
in the Bible. Curiously enough, in spite of the many translations that have appeared
on the market since 1611, the KJV has preserved its place as the most beloved Bible
in the US. These facts will become more important as we talk about the transatlantic
cooperation that led to the creation of another very important, the Revised Version
(RV) and subsequent translations that were developed in the US. The need for a
revision in the latter half of the 19th century came from research pertaining to the
Greek version used to produce the KJV translation. It was stipulated that this new

Therefore, no single Bible can ever hope to fulfill the scholarly and spiritual needs of
this market. A combination of new sources coupled with new techniques will always
ensure that old translations are updated and that scholars with radically new ideas
commit themselves to producing new translations that are based directly on the
source text. The New Revised Standard Version(NRSV) is not a new translation, it is
a direct descendant of the KJV via the RV, followed by the ASV and the RSV. In the
preface of the NRSV, Bruce Metzger discusses recent discoveries vis Г vis the source
text, and the guiding principles that were followed during the translation process
(cf. New Revised Standard Version 9). As far as sources go, even though the Dead
Sea Scrolls had been found in the late 1940s, the translators still used the Biblia
Hebraica Stuttgartensia, albeit a newer version. The guiding principles referr to the

I remember when me and my family drove along in our family car going shopping.
As we drove to the highway, I remember that the radio was always on. There were
different types of music playing like pop, hip hop, classic, rock and other types of
music. I remember all those good times when I was little the laughter coming from
my younger siblings, the sun shining and the wind blowing though the window. I
also remember the landscape and the noises of the music exiting through the
window and entering the highway. Whatever song was coming on it left this happy
mood inside of me. It made me notice more things and made me feel light and

Analysis Of Norman Macford s A River Runs Through It
A River Runs Through It The natural world is unparalleled in its power to make one
deeply contemplative, introspective, and observant of the surrounding universe.
Norman Maclean testifies to this power in his novella, A River Runs Through It.
Through his eulogy to the Blackfoot river, Norman Maclean captures his journey
from boy to man through his personal and visceral connection to the Blackfoot.
Norman s writing encapsulates his own coming of age through the symbolism and
parallels he draws between himself and the river. In contrast, Robert Redford s movie
adaptation focuses directly on the interpersonal relationships Norman develops
throughout his life and how those relationships shape his character and choices.
Although Redford... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In saying he knows how the river was made, Norman demonstrates his own self
awareness and understanding of himself. He knows who he is because his life and
memories are the river. Building on the theme of identity, Maclean writes
extensively on the geological history of the river. He explains the formation of it
through glacial movement, its deposition patterns, and exact meander pattern, as
well as the location and types of fishing pools (73). Making the geology a cynosure
of his work again demonstrates Norman s dedication to understanding the historical
elements that formed its identity. Then, extrapolating this to himself, he reinforces
the idea that having a deep understanding of the river s formation allows him to
better understand his own. Maclean also explains his family dynamic through the
symbolism of fly fishing on the river. He is haunted by waters, (119) because they
contain the memories and words of everyone Maclean has ever connected with and
interacted with he even refers to it as my family s river (76). Which illustrates
Maclean s deep connection to the river as he would be unable to comprehend the
meaning of his own life without it. The deepest familial moments, such as Norman
offering Paul help, discussing life plans, or Norman finding common ground with his
father, all occur while fishing on the Blackfoot. Whenever he is at the river, he cannot
escape thinking about his
Key Themes Of Political Power In Machiavelli s Richard II
Political power does not come from an army, or a full treasury. Instead, it comes
from the subjects, or the people. If the people like a ruler, or leader, it gives them
power to act, largely, however they please, but, if the ruler is not well liked, not
only does the ruler lose the ability to act, even within the law, but they are much
more likely to lose their throne. Throughout Richard II political staging is a means
to obtain power, both successfully, and unsuccessfully. In doing so, it reveals the
identity of the characters and how they view the world and their place in it. It also
demonstrates the problem that power presents, and how it can be hard to wear a
political mask, and retain something that is fundamentally individual. In
Machiavelli s The Prince, he outlines and ideal ruler, and how they would act, and
the best ways to seize power. One of the key themes that underlies this work, is that
power comes from the people, not divine right, or inheritance. This question of
where power comes from, is also present in Richard II, and it plays out both
literally and intellectually within the play. Power from the people, plays out
literally in the play, when Henry, works to win people over, so that he can
overthrow Richard. Later on in the play, Richard realizes that power comes from
the people and not from divine right, and realizes that he has screwed up, and lost
the bit of power that he did have. Machiavelli also discusses the importance of
appearances. For example,
Argument Against Child Soldiers
For my social justice project, my partner and I chose child soldiers. I really wanted
to do this topic because I do not think that people really understand how terrible it
is. People will say they are against child soldiers, but I see no efforts to stop it.
There are over 300,000 child soldiers in the world today, and I believe that the
number will only grow if people do not take against against it. During class I hope
to inspire my classmates to see these as a more serious and prevalent issue that
needs to be solved. I found a very nice poem to open class, that calls people to fight
this injustice. I have two bible verses (Matthew 18: 2 3; 1 Corinthians 3: 16) and a
quote from Pope Francis that fits very nicely into the presentation. While there were
some problems during the World Wars, today there is no significant problem with
child soldiers in powerful countries, such as the USA, Britain, and other UN
countries. Sadly, there are countries that do use children, including Somalia, Iraq,
Mali, and others in Africa and around the Middle East. The logic behind why
children are chosen for soldiers is sad and disturbing. Children are recruited because
they can be persuaded to fight for things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is something that needs to be address. Think of the toll that war has on adults,
now imagine a child having to bear that burden. I think that seeing the video in
class will help people understand and want to stop the injustice here. If someone
can see what is going on with these kids and still not care about them, then I do not
know what will make them care. The Catholic Social Teachings at play here are a
call to community to stop this injustice, and a disregard of the life and dignity of
each person. People need to a vision and a mind that says they can do something
about this, even though it is not right at there doorstep. This is not something that can
be put off, we can make a change
Type 1 Insulin Research Paper
Packaging and Formulation
Insulin is considered to be a heat sensitive product which needs to be maintained at
certain optimum temperatures for it to work effectively. The transportation from the
laboratory to the consumer has to be taken into consideration as all temperature
variation can cause the efficiency of the treatment to decrease. (Lens, 2010)
In fact, there have been studies conducted which prove that if insulin is placed outside
for more than 2 mins of time it will cross its critical +8В°C threshold level. It should
also be noted that Insulin should also not drop below the +2В°C as it can be
dangerous to the chemical composition of the drug. This makes it necessary to
transport the drug with the same temperature conditions at each step.

The Philosopher And The Filmmaker Michael Moore
At every point in history there are individuals who disagree with the norms of his
or her society and who advocate for social and political change. These individuals
are referred to as agitators. While these agitators come from across different
historical time periods and locations some of them have quite a bit in common.
Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the United
States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them.
An example would be the philosopher Socratesand the filmmaker Michael Moore.
Despite some small differences in approach, these two have many significant
similarities as agitators. The most obvious similarity between Socrates and Moore
is that they are agitators, but it is more than them just advocating social and
political change. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. Both
of them seemed to address issues or put forth information that generated a lot of
discomfort from the people around them as well as criticism. For example, Moore
has a part in his film that displays instances of America supporting or creating
corruption in other countries which leads to high levels of violence (Moore). This
among many of the other topics he discussed in the documentary caused a lot of
discomfort which led to harsh criticism such as an article entitled Bowling For
Columbine: Documentary or Fiction by David T. Hardy. He states that Bowling for
Columbine is dishonest. It is
The Stratification Of Social Stratification
The Result of Stratification
Social stratification is in nearly every aspect in our lives. Social stratification is
society s categorization of human beings into types of ranking. We are ranked into
wealth, careers, social status, and power. We are subjected and pushed by these
categorizations into how our lives are set up and therefore how we live them.
While it is not always as fair, stratification serves to organize the world and its
occupants. Society has determined one of the means in which we are ranked
through income. It is also easiest to explain stratification in this form. There are
three main classes, upper, middle and lower classes. These classes can be divided
even further such as lower middle class and upper lower class. We are stratified this
way so that the world may see how our economy is doing financially.
If you are fortunate enough to be under the upper class division, you may be
subjected to more taxes. Those in the middle class (which is my family s class) are
not well off enough to be free of debt and at the same time not poor enough to be
given any help by the government. The lower class (my own personal plight)
suffers though the hardships of getting by with little to nothing in the bank. These
rankings we are given can easily make us or break us because of how society sees
these classifications. My own family can have trouble getting by because there are
seven of us. But because we are considered middle class based on our one income,
we are
Frederick Douglass And The Civil War
Frederick Douglass was a civil war activist, he was a father and a husband. He
grew up in slavery and once he escaped he knew he still had work to do. As
Frederick was growing up and as he lived , the north and south were constantly
arguing and slave owners were very harsh but people still kept going, it was mostly
hard on the slaves but soon the whole country was suffering from different things.
In this essay (or book as I like to call it) you will learn about Frederick Douglass s
life before, after, and during the Civil War. Frederick Douglass was Born sometime
in 1818, and he died 77 years later. Douglass was born on a plantation in Maryland
on the eastern shore in Talbot county. Although the exact date of his birth is still un
known he later in life decided it should be celebrated on February 14. Which we
now celebrate as valentines day so most people do not remember it is a great mans
BIRTHDAY, but some as well celebrate him on this fine day. Frederick s full name
is Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, Frederick grew up living with his
grandmother until he was about four or five, then one sunny day Frederick s
grandmother said they were going on a trip ,Fred (Frederick) didn t have any idea
where they were going even though he kept asking his grandmother, would not
answer. Soon they reached their destination Frederick still had no idea where they

The words in the poem that surround what will happen if they don t have sex are
that she will be eaten by the worms and they will ultimately try to take her virginity
while he holds the idea of her remaining a virgin forever in disdain, but on the other
hand there will be repercussions for him as well, in the sense that all his sexual
fantasies, desires, and wants will burn up, And into ashes my lust (Line 30). In the
poem The Flea by John Donne has powerful imagery in it as well, such as the blood
representing life experiences in and of itself, but in the story when it says It sucked

and that these two bloods have intermingled, so in the speakers convincing argument

global. Little Susie is working on an assignment in our classroom she has to have
complete silence, while sitting at her desk. She is able to sit still for long periods of

Front Bumper Research Paper
Front bumpers are designed to keep your engine safe from severe damage in an
accident. A structurally sound bumper crumples in these accidents and absorbs the
shock of the impact. However, once a bumper has severely damaged, it either
needs to be replaced or repaired. What s the big deal about bumper damage?
Plenty: a severely damaged bumper left without repairs puts your life in serious
risk. For example, if you were to get into another front end collision, there s a good
chance your engine would actually get severely damaged. Even worse, it may cause
the whole front end of the car to collapse on itself, pinning you in a dangerous
situation that may be impossible to survive. It may be hard to believe, but bumpers
are often the last thing keeping a person from dying in a serious car accident.... Show

  • 1. Essay On Iraq War Crafting an essay on the Iraq War can be a challenging endeavor, given the complex and controversial nature of the subject matter. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive historical overview but also in navigating the intricate political, social, and ethical dimensions surrounding the conflict. One of the primary challenges is the vast amount of information available, spanning from the geopolitical landscape to the impact on the lives of individuals directly affected. Sorting through the myriad perspectives, conflicting narratives, and differing analyses requires a meticulous approach to ensure accuracy and fairness. Additionally, the Iraq War is deeply intertwined with the broader issues of international relations, global security, and the complexities of Middle Eastern politics. Addressing these aspects demands a nuanced understanding of diplomatic maneuvers, alliances, and the ever-evolving dynamics that shaped the conflict. Furthermore, the ethical considerations surrounding the war, including questions about the justification for military intervention, the consequences for civilians, and the aftermath of the conflict, add another layer of difficulty. Striking a balance between presenting facts objectively and acknowledging the ethical implications requires careful thought and consideration. The challenge is not only to provide a historical account but also to analyze the long-term repercussions and lessons learned from the Iraq War. This necessitates a critical evaluation of the decision-making processes, the role of various stakeholders, and the impact on regional stability. • 2. Mt. Fuji Research Paper Geologic Background The volcano Mount Fuji is a large composite stratovolcano that has been alternating lava flows and pyroclastic flows throughout its history. The complexity of Mount Fuji is hidden by its simple conical shape. It is composed of three different cones that lie one on top of each other. The first to appear was Komitake about 400000 years ago, followed by Kofuji (Old Fuji) about 80000 years ago, and now the current Shinfuji (Young Fuji) about 11000 years ago. (Miyaji, 1992) According to Miyaji (1992), the Komitake volcano had an andesitic lava flow eruption and is located on the northern flank of Mt. Fuji and the older Fuji volcano was characterized by pyroclastic flows estimated at 250km^3 along with large scale mudflows. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the 860 864 eruptions from a parasitic cone on the NW flank of Fuji, major lava flows partially buried a large lake and separated it into the current lakes of Sai and Shoji. (6)1707 AD A large plinian eruption occurred from 3 vents on the SE flank of Fuji on 16 December 1707. Traces of different chemistry in the tephras indicate that the composition changed over time from dacitic to basaltic composition. Ashes could be found all the way to Tokyo which is 100 km away. (Miyaji, 1992) The 1707 eruption is the largest recorded eruption of mount Fuji and will be discussed in more detail. Tectonic setting As mentioned in the introduction, mount Fuji is located in the Fossa Magna which is a tectonic zone traversing the central part of the main island (Honshu) of Japan from the Japan Sea Coast to the Pacific in a NNW SSE direction. The south Fossa Magna region results in the collision of the Philippine Sea (PHS) plate with the Eurasian (EUR) plate in the north and with the North American (NAM) plate in the northeast. It is complicated by the subduction of the Pacific (PAC) plate in the east (Nakamichi, 2007) which creates even more activity for the triple junction below Mount
  • 3. The Causes Of Drug Abuse In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde The plot of the Robert Louis Stevenson s book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde exposes more than just a suspense novel. It also exposes the use and side effects of drugs. The book in such presents the eerie feeling that went along with the history of drug abuse in the 19th century as well as the afflictions the drug abuser and his companions suffer through. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde don t just belong to the past of the 19th and early 20th century. It is as still relevant in modern times as it was and past, possibly even more so. The decades and centuries of drug abuse have been a mystery to some of the reason why some humans put themselves through the horrors of addiction. The ideas and theories are numerous, but the root cause differs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jekyll is the story of so many of the desperate souls who get hooked on the line called addiction. In the book of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the struggle between sanity and insanity becomes all too real. The story depicts how Dr. Jekyll experimented on himself with an experimental drug of his own concoction and continues to self administrate it to his person. He becomes two different people, both in mentality and otherwise (Stevenson). He goes from being a gentleman to a wicked, malicious monster of Mr. Hyde. The man highly respected among his friends becomes their nightmare. He causes them much grief; in some cases, their shocking death. The doctor is so dependent on the drug he steals, lies, and deceives all who care for him. When it is finally realized among his loved ones about his condition it is too late. His addiction is his death like so many in life. Robert Louis Stevenson the author of this novel was widely speculated to have his own habit but it was never proven. He based this story of what was most likely happening in Edinburgh and London around the turn of the century going in 20th and out of the 19th (McLeod). He used his stories as reflections of the times in which he was born and grew up in. His stories connected and entertained readers with drama and horrors as well as relevancy ( ProQuest) (ProQuest). The book of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are still relevant today. It has affected and exposed readers to drug abuse of past and

Rabbit Proof Fence Film Techniques The picture Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce is the true tale about three aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie who get taken from their mother to soon return back over a long journey. This film represents the past of how the aboriginals in the stolen generations were treated and taken from their parent so that they could be purified into a more white generation. During this picture various audio and visual effects are given to display the feelings and emotions of the characters contained in the film. Phillip Noyce positions the audience into a position to feel empathy and sympathy for the girls using various background sounds/music and camera techniques which helps incorporate the message and tragedy about what happened... Music has also made you in this movie feel the emotions of Molly, Daisy and Gracie when they are being taken into their dormitory at the Moore River Training Camp. During the girls stay at the Moore River Training Camp there wasn t much background music but it is replaced with a lot of various needed sound effects. Plato and Aristotle wrote much about him. Hippocrates wanted to prove that disease was a natural process by collecting data and also by conducting experiments. He wanted to prove that the signs and symptoms of a disease were caused by the natural reactions of the body to the disease process. He did not want people to believe that it came from the gods and spirits. The school of medicinecalled Knidian school was established while Hippocratesbegan to practice medicine. If the ball takes a hop, you can bring your glove up to it even if you misjudge, odds are excellent that your top hand and/or your body will block the ball and keep it from going past. It took me a while to realize this myself. And what I am struggling with at this point is finding more reliable sources. A wise man once said You can have all the physical ability in the world, but you still have to know the fundamentals (Fundamentals Quotes). The greatest and most talented players in the world still have to learn and know the fundamentals to play the game. Fundamentals are the basics, just the simple basics of the sport, and how to play the game. The important fundamentals of baseballinclude hitting, fielding, throwing, and also base running. Many people believe that hitting is where it begins. According to an old coach The main part of baseball that brings people in to the game is hitting. Some have seen professionals do it on TV and others have seen it in person. But as for hitting it is the major part of baseball for many players. ( Main ). • 10. The Importance Of Objectivity In Art As Gombrich describes, objectivity is the ability to represent something exactly as it is seen in nature without any influence. According to Gombrich, the objectivity of the representation in a work of art does not define how correct or real the art is. On the contrary, realism is defined by the information conveyed from the art. If the information is correct, the work is realistic. Gombrich believes this because there are multiple limits to representing objectively. One of the most prominent limits is style because as much as any artist would like to recreate nature objectively, style overrules. Every artist has a unique temperament which is represented in their work, making it a limit to representing an objectobjectively. Furthermore, the style itself is a limit to objectivity as well. Style includes but is not limited to the method of recreation or technique. The choice of technique restricts the artist freedom of choice as the artist can only render what his technique is capable of rendering. Not only is the limit to objectivity seen in the work of art itself, but it is also present in viewing nature itself with the eyes. The artist will see certain aspects of nature that others will not see based on his technique. For example, an artist drawing a scene will focus on the scene in terms of lines. Another limit to objectivity is the preference of an artist. An artist will only paint what he likes, which is what he can paint. Answer 2: I agree with all of Gombrich s
  • 11. Dst Is Bad For Everyone s Health The most convincing premise is P2. This sub argument seems to be intended as deductive because the author suggests that this premise is conclusively supported by using forceful language to state that DST is certainly bad for everyone s health, as opposed to possibly being harmful. In this case, the argumentis invalid. It can be true that DST causes adverse health effects but for some people to not suffer from these. Therefore, the conclusion that DST is bad for all people s health is false despite the premises being true. However, if the argument is to be taken as non deductive it becomes more convincing. The article gives probable evidence that DST is bad for people s health because it puts people at risk of suffering these negative effects. Therefore, the argument is strong because the conclusion is probable. Furthermore, there is no reason to disbelieve the research that provided this information, including the sub sub argument: early morning sunlight is important for those affected by SAD, DST short changes these early morning hours which is why DST negatively affects people with SAD. Therefore, assuming the background research is true, this argument is cogent. While there may be counter arguments involving people whose health is not affected, this argument is convincing because it is probable that something which is linked to damaging people s health is bad for people s health. To evaluate the least effective argument, let s consider P6. Again, this argument is

  • 13. Illegal Immigration Problems Illegal immigration defies the immigration rules of a designated country by ignoring the right formalities of moving into that country. It requires immigrants to cross international political borders throughout water, land, and air improperly. As these immigrants enter the country they tend to relocate to California. Which cause s many problems in Los Angeles, California, and the city government should do more to handle the growing population of illegal immigrants. California is a popular relocation destination for illegal immigrants. Zong states that about one million illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles, California, when they get there they use fake or stolen social security numbers to get jobs (Zong) which takes away from native Californians. This makes it harder for natives to find jobs which eventually leads to higher unemployment rates. Sometimes immigrants are helpful when they migrate, they fill shortages in the work place that no one wants. When illegal immigrants enter, the United Statesusing a fake social security number they aren t required to pay taxes. Illegal immigrants don t usually pay taxes until they are caught and deported or forced to pay them. Which causes the economy rate growth to decrease and tax rates to increase. This causes citizens tend to work less because of the increase in taxes. Therefore, making the economy weaker and weaker. Some examples are light and temperature or gravitational or reaction forces. The last constraint referred to in this article is task constraints defined as being specific to the task at hand. Examples are task goals, the rules of the task, and any additions of tools used to perform the task. The authors stressed the importance of understanding the unique patterns of movements of golfers as a means of adapting to the unique constraints they may face. A difference in interpretation of unique constraints will also affect how the performer performs that task. The authors concluded that instead of assuming one technique is perfect for everyone, coaches and instructors should embrace the differences in variability between golfers as a positive aspect in improving a golfer s golf swing. It is more important to understand that every individual is different and the coach or instructor should aim to aid the individual in being able to distinguish specific constraints in order to manipulate and use them in a positive way to improve their golf swing. The authors overall concluded that the perfect gold swing does not exist due to the variability in constraints and the way in which each individual interprets, uses and lets them affect their performance. The authors mentioned and gave examples of external and internal constraints that all affect and individual s performance and golf swing. They spoke about performer, environmental, task constraints and how they
  • 16. The Flaws Of The Titanic And The Titanic Despite how entertaining the film Titanic actually is, it has many flaws that can be pointed out. Titanic is a love story between a woman of the upper class and a man of the lower class. Throughout the movie they face the difficulties of Jack (Lower class man) not being high enough stature to please the family of Rose (upper class woman) while they sail through the ocean on a luxurious cruise ship. As the Titanic sinks the film shows the two being together and going through the catastrophe that is the final hours on the Titanic. In the movie, Titanic, director James Cameronused a few important actual events that occurred in the history of The Titanic. However, there are some things that were only added for detail, entertainment, and action in film. Real life survivors from the ship s sinking report what is valid and incorrect in the movie. Many things in the movie, Titanic, actually happened in the actual event. One similarity is when The Titanic s band continued to play as the ship went under. The lead violinist realized the chaos around him and started playing, soon to be joined by his band members. An article on the Titanic says, After the ship struck an iceberg, Wallace Hartley assembled his eight man band, and they eventually ended up on the Boat Deck near the entrance to the Grand Staircase. There, they played ragtime and waltzes. ( Questioning The Story ). This is reported by survivors to be a valid occurrence in the sinking of the Titanic. Another similarity between the movie and actual event is when ice landed on the main deck of the Titanic. When the ship hit the iceberg, huge pieces of ice fell onto the main deck. A story on the Titanic says, Survivor William Lucas reported seeing about a couple of tons of ice on the fore well [deck] on the starboard side of the ship. ( Questioning The Story ). Many people report seeing this incident happen that were aboard the Titanic. The Titanic movie has many similarities to the actual event. The movie Titanic although, had quite a few differences from the actual event. The first difference is how the director, James Cameron, made the movie primarily based around Jack and Rose. Training Is the Answer an Article by Rob Rosner Article Summary Rob Rosner s 1999 article titled Training is the answer ... but what was the question? 20 questions to make sure your training really works. starts with a cautionary tale about training seminars gone bad. The author conveys an incident at a health care training seminar where the trainer s admission of knowing nothing about health care, derailed the training program before it even started. After the conclusion of the seminar, the trainer presented his participants with a congratulatory decorative cactus for completing the seminar. When one trainee was asked what he got out of the training; he commented I got a cactus (Rosner, 1999). HR professionals can answer these questions to develop useful guidelines for developing an effective training program or whether training is actually needed in the first place. In the article, Rosner states that avoiding wasting time, production, and precious resources on ineffectual training programs is the ultimate goal for successful training managers. HR representatives need to figure out the solutions to the questions posed in Mr. Rosner s article. Questions like, what are the reasons for conducting training, is training necessary, what solutions have been used in the past, and what is the expected outcome of training are integral to planning an

  • 22. Essay Dehumanization in All Quiet on the Western Front Dehumanization in Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front Winston Churchill always said, You ask: what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, no matter how long and hard the world may be; for without victory, there is no survival. In Erich Maria Remarques All Quiet on the Western Front, victory is seen as the only option. The soldiers in the novel do whatever it takes like acting before thinking or ignoring any possible consequences in order to emerge victorious. Paul and his comrades are exposed constantly to violence, jumpstarting a dehumanizing process that forces them to rely on animal instinct. This necessary instinct is the only thing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good example of this is when Paul is frozen after looking into the enemy s eyes during the first bombardment, but he quickly gets over this to move on and save himself. T. S. Matthews in his article Bad News states, They have had to become soldiers, and they are nothing else. They believe in the present moment; it is not enough, but it is all they can be sure of (2). Matthews goes on to say, But what keeps them going in man s machine made hell is the bodily presence of the friends around them (2). On the contrary, dehumanization is the key to survival. Throughout the novel, Paul loses close friends of his and each time he does he finds the strength to keep on fighting. He may not always want to, but he keeps moving forward in his dehumanized state towards the end. Dehumanization not only affects the soldier physically but internally as well, both on and off the front. Being affected internally by dehumanization means that these soldiers are stripped of their emotions, have a changed their point of view on war, or are given a different mindset. When Paul and others go to visit Kemmerich, a former classmate whose leg was recently amputated, they can tell he is on the brink of death. Instead of being concerned, Paul s classmate Muller is insensitive and is only concerned about his boots. Muller has been so dehumanized that all he can bring himself to think about is Kemmerich s boots, and receiving them after his death. Later in the novel, Kat points out

  • 24. Puccini s La Boheme Essay Puccini s La BohГЁme: An Analysis Giacomo Puccini has written a number of operas, including Turandot, Gianni Schicchi, and Madama Butterfly. La BohГЁme is said to be one of the most successful and enchanting operas ever written. Written in the romantic period, the text and score interrelations play an important role in an overall aesthetically and historically pleasing opera. In a story of love found and love lost, Puccini uses text and score to create empathy for the characters of La Boheme. Puccini does so particularly in the aria Donde lieta uscГ¬, sung by Mimi towards the end of Act III. Mimi introduces herself as a seamstress and neighbor looking for Rudolpho to light her candle. They soon develop a romantic relationship which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This music is returned to show the yearning for the past and lets the audience, if only for a moment, remember the carefree love that Mimi and Rudolpho initially shared. Mimi goes on to sing Addio, senza rancor, which translates to farewell, without remorse. Although this may seem like a rather sarcastic or bitter comment after the uplifting score in the past two bars, this line is accompanied by two sustained chords. Puccini uses this minimalistic approach to reflect the simplicity of the text itself. Spike Hughes, author of Famous Puccini Operas, says, there is indeed no bitterness, but a great deal of sadness...the whole scene has a strangely moving quality of melancholy and nostalgic regret that such things cannot go on for ever. Although there is no bitterness, you sense a great deal of remorse. This phrase gives the sense of a moment of rest from the silence in the instrumental to the held soprano line. Rudolpho begins to walk away, but Mimi beckons him with an out of place Ascolta, ascolta, or wait, wait and gives instructions of trinkets she would like him to gather. These trinkets include a gold ring and prayer book she has left in a drawer, that she wishes Rudolpho to wrap up and she will send someone to gather them. The score has a dissonant sense at the beginning of each phrase to show Mimi s sadness, but in a curious contrast staccato arpeggios occur at the end of each phrase once more reminding all that
  • 25. Causes And Failures Of The Weimar Republic To a significant extent the failures of the Weimar Republic assisted in the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party. The underlying fatal flaw of the economics was never resolved creating the first of many failings that the Weimar Republic faced. Another apparent weak point was the instability of the political government. Along with inability to foresee potential vulnerability they were placing themselves in. This all led the people of Germany to form a distrust in the Weimar Republicand fundamentally allow extremists parties to offer change. Nevertheless, Adolf Hitlerhad inherited talent in the ability to manipulate and lead the masses. The Weimar Republic failed to fully get Germany out of the Great Depression, creating a spiral effect, allowing Hitler and the Nazi party to propose change and eventually rise to power. Germany has a long history of being a proud nation and when the depression hit, it hit hard and was faced with complete resentment. Historian Knut Borchadt argues that Germany was unable to respond effectively to the Great Depression because of underlying economic weaknesses , for example foreign debt, high wage levels and a very powerful trade union movement, Borchadt also suggests after the Great Depression and Wall street crash, democracy had no chance (Borchadt in Wormald, 2017). Historian Richard Bessel suggest similarly that because the SPD never fully consolidated/accepting the new democracy within the new country, and therefore [it was] never

As will be further emphazised in chapter 5 of this paper, the population of the US is significantly more religious than the one in the UK. This leads to a greater interest in the Bible. Curiously enough, in spite of the many translations that have appeared on the market since 1611, the KJV has preserved its place as the most beloved Bible in the US. These facts will become more important as we talk about the transatlantic cooperation that led to the creation of another very important, the Revised Version (RV) and subsequent translations that were developed in the US. Norman Maclean testifies to this power in his novella, A River Runs Through It. Through his eulogy to the Blackfoot river, Norman Maclean captures his journey from boy to man through his personal and visceral connection to the Blackfoot. Norman s writing encapsulates his own coming of age through the symbolism and parallels he draws between himself and the river. In contrast, Robert Redford s movie adaptation focuses directly on the interpersonal relationships Norman develops throughout his life and how those relationships shape his character and choices. Although Redford... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In saying he knows how the river was made, Norman demonstrates his own self awareness and understanding of himself. He knows who he is because his life and memories are the river. Building on the theme of identity, Maclean writes extensively on the geological history of the river. He explains the formation of it through glacial movement, its deposition patterns, and exact meander pattern, as well as the location and types of fishing pools (73). Making the geology a cynosure of his work again demonstrates Norman s dedication to understanding the historical elements that formed its identity. Then, extrapolating this to himself, he reinforces the idea that having a deep understanding of the river s formation allows him to better understand his own. Maclean also explains his family dynamic through the symbolism of fly fishing on the river. He is haunted by waters, (119) because they contain the memories and words of everyone Maclean has ever connected with and interacted with he even refers to it as my family s river (76). Which illustrates Maclean s deep connection to the river as he would be unable to comprehend the meaning of his own life without it. The deepest familial moments, such as Norman offering Paul help, discussing life plans, or Norman finding common ground with his father, all occur while fishing on the Blackfoot. Whenever he is at the river, he cannot escape thinking about his
  • 33. Key Themes Of Political Power In Machiavelli s Richard II Political power does not come from an army, or a full treasury. Instead, it comes from the subjects, or the people. If the people like a ruler, or leader, it gives them power to act, largely, however they please, but, if the ruler is not well liked, not only does the ruler lose the ability to act, even within the law, but they are much more likely to lose their throne. Throughout Richard II political staging is a means to obtain power, both successfully, and unsuccessfully. In doing so, it reveals the identity of the characters and how they view the world and their place in it. It also demonstrates the problem that power presents, and how it can be hard to wear a political mask, and retain something that is fundamentally individual. In Machiavelli s The Prince, he outlines and ideal ruler, and how they would act, and the best ways to seize power. One of the key themes that underlies this work, is that power comes from the people, not divine right, or inheritance. This question of where power comes from, is also present in Richard II, and it plays out both literally and intellectually within the play. Power from the people, plays out literally in the play, when Henry, works to win people over, so that he can overthrow Richard. Later on in the play, Richard realizes that power comes from the people and not from divine right, and realizes that he has screwed up, and lost the bit of power that he did have. Machiavelli also discusses the importance of appearances. For example,

There are over 300,000 child soldiers in the world today, and I believe that the number will only grow if people do not take against against it. During class I hope to inspire my classmates to see these as a more serious and prevalent issue that needs to be solved. I found a very nice poem to open class, that calls people to fight this injustice. I have two bible verses (Matthew 18: 2 3; 1 Corinthians 3: 16) and a quote from Pope Francis that fits very nicely into the presentation. While there were some problems during the World Wars, today there is no significant problem with child soldiers in powerful countries, such as the USA, Britain, and other UN countries. Sadly, there are countries that do use children, including Somalia, Iraq, Mali, and others in Africa and around the Middle East. The logic behind why children are chosen for soldiers is sad and disturbing. Children are recruited because they can be persuaded to fight for things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These individuals are referred to as agitators. While these agitators come from across different historical time periods and locations some of them have quite a bit in common. Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the United States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. Both of them seemed to address issues or put forth information that generated a lot of discomfort from the people around them as well as criticism. • 38. The Stratification Of Social Stratification The Result of Stratification Social stratification is in nearly every aspect in our lives. Social stratification is society s categorization of human beings into types of ranking. We are ranked into wealth, careers, social status, and power. We are subjected and pushed by these categorizations into how our lives are set up and therefore how we live them. While it is not always as fair, stratification serves to organize the world and its occupants. Society has determined one of the means in which we are ranked through income. It is also easiest to explain stratification in this form. There are three main classes, upper, middle and lower classes. These classes can be divided even further such as lower middle class and upper lower class. We are stratified this way so that the world may see how our economy is doing financially. If you are fortunate enough to be under the upper class division, you may be subjected to more taxes.
