Department Stores
Department Stores are Struggling!
Ashley Pearson
FYS: History of Providence
Professor Hughes
December 17, 2012
In 2012 department stores in Providence are struggling. When one takes a drive through
Providence the main retail stores are in the Providence Place Mall. From an outsider s point of
view it doesn t look like these stores are struggling. After all, everyone in Providence knows where
this tremendous mall is. What people do not know is that in reality they are headed downhill. These
stores are department stores. A department storeis a large retail store carrying a wide variety of

By 1986, the ultimate fate of the Big O was decided by a grand fire.[15] Afterwards, Johnson and
Wales University soon cleared the site and its built dorms in the Big O s place. If you drive
down Weybosset Street today you will still be able to see the tremendous clock tower that was
once owned by The Outlet. The Shepards department store was another department store that
rose and fell in Providence s earlier years. Shepards was the department store that was the biggest
rival to The Outlet. It opened in 1880 at the corner of Westminster and Clemence Streets.
According to Midge Frazel, customers could shop and have your purchases sent by delivery
truck to your home if you lived near the city.[16] This would create an easy and affordable way
to get the items you needed, especially if you needed a bunch of items! Shepards was also one
of the three department stores that were connected by the Tri Strore Bridge. This bridge
connected Gladding, Shepards and Cherry Webb. The bridge was built shortly before 1900.[17]
The bridge encouraged people to not only go to one of the stores, but all three. So, if you liked
one store you were apt to go to try the other by just walking through

Colin Powell Pros And Cons
Who is Colin Powell? He is a retired four star General in the United States Army. He was also the
65th United States Secretary of State (2001 2005), serving under President George W. Bush.
Powell was the first and only African American to serve in that position to date and was an
exemplary leader of many facets. Colin Powellhas spent a majority of his life serving our Nation
and is a decorated Army veteran. Powell developed 18 principles in Leadershipbased off of his
experiences and these principles could be applied to develop better Leaders. I feel that I could
relate to several of his principles but the three that I identify with the most are you don t know
what you can get away with until you try, don t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own
backyard and lastly to have fun in your command.
Colin Powell s principle that states you don t know what you can get away with until you try

A Tale of Alien Technology
The year is 2058, Earth is peaceful, history is forever changed, for no wars have been fought, and

Cystic Fibrosis Analysis
To understand the effects that Cystic Fibrosis has, it is important to discuss CFTR synthesis and
trafficking. Mutations in the CFTR results in protein misfolding, causing a defect in cellular
processing and trafficking that targets the protein for degradation and reduces the quantity of CFTR
at the cellsurface [56]. In order for the CFTR to function correctly, then it must be synthesized,
folded, and transported to the apical membrane of the cell without problem. The CFTR passes
through quality control systems to get rid of misfolded proteins that would not function properly
or that could become damaged [16]. It is apparent that only 33% of CFTR folds correctly and is
allowed to leave the endoplasmic reticulum[8]. The nucleus is the site... Show more content on

One system detects defects in the cytosolic parts of the CFTR while the other detects defects
within the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is apparent that ubiquitylating proteins work
with specific factors in order to detect misfolding. For example, Hsp70 detects mutations in the
cytosolic regions of the CFTR. It is suspected that Hsp70 keeps the CFTR soluble until the E3
ligase CHIP binds with it. The complex that forms between these two redirects the CFTR to the
degradation pathway. Derlin 1 is involved with detecting defects in the endoplasmic reticulum
membrane and is involved in the retro translocation of CFTR from the endoplasmic reticulum so
that it can be send to the proteasome for degradation [20]. If the CFTR protein is folded correctly
within the endoplasmic reticulum, then it is sent to the Golgi apparatus. The coat protein
complex II (COPII), which is found within the ER membrane, helps to maintain the correct CFTR
structure and location, conformation, and protein protein interactions as this occurs. Final
processing for the CFTR is carried out within the Golgi, as the CFTR replaces a mannose
enriched side chain with a mature complex oligosaccharide side chain. After this is completed, the
CFTR is moved to the apical membrane where it has a half life of 12 to 24 hours. If a CFTR is
functioning poorly within the membrane, then it can be recognized by Hsc70 and then

Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
Mary Wollstonecraft considered as a remarkable women activists and an English writer of 18th
century. In her essay, she constantly compares men and women. Her comparisons range from their
physical nature to their intelligence and even down to the education that each sex receives is
commendable. Wollstonecraft said that, In the government of the physical world it is observable
that the female in point of strength is, in general, inferior to the male (Wollstonecraft 35). She has
also revealed that women are inferior to men in physicality and a number of areas throughout the
essay. However, her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans have been around for thousands of years, yet men still disgrace. In my point of view,
she has portrayed society as a debatable platform where is a urge to stand up for women to every
women along with men. The rights of women and their place in society have been a debate of
different degrees throughout time. As we grow up in a society and culture that raises us and
educates us about rights and wrongs and how things should be it has blinded women from their true
potential and rights as human beings. However, just like a child that learns to walk, Wollstonecraft
takes the first steps leading the ongoing prominent debate of the rights of women.
Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own
In Virginia Woolf s feminist essay A Room of One s Own, Woolf argues that, a womanmust have
money and a room of her own (16) if she is to write fiction of any value. The point as she
develops it is a perceptive one and far more layered and various in its implications than it might
be at first seem. However, I wonder if perhaps Woolf did not really hit the full power of her
thesis. She recognized the necessity of the writer s financial independence to the birth of great
writing. However, she failed to discover the true relationship to great writing of another freedom
for just as economic freedom allows one to inhabit a physical space like a room of one s individual
so does mental

Mentalism In The Necklace, By Guy De Maupassant
The necklace is a short story written by Maupassant to present the mentality of people in France
during its golden ages. He did that through the use of more familiar characters to the reader who
have positives and negatives, following the guidelines of literary realism to give the reader a
closer perspective on the life during those days. It is based on a middle class woman who married
to a junior clerk in the Ministry of Education. She had an honorable life but always felt that she
was intended for a life of refinement and luxury Maupassant is trying to portray human nature, of
always striving for more than what they have and are never pleased with what s between their hands.
Guy de Maupassant displays the human nature throughout his main characters such as Mathilde and
Madame Forestier s personality and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is clearly displayed through Mathilde s character, as she had no fine dresses, no jewelry,
nothing. And that is all that she cared about . However she has done everything in her power
make her life appear better than how it is like, That was Maupassant s message that society was
too dependent on other people s judgments which had forced people to live in an illusional world
where everyone s actual lives does not match the ideal life they had in their heads. The pronoun
nothing is a hyperbole, because she obviously didn t nothing especially that she was able to buy
a new, real, diamond necklace. It also exaggerates her state of poverty, which contrasts with
reality as she comes from the middle class. Maupassant message is portrayed by the necklace as it
could be interpreted as a symbol of wealth as it is flashy but false in the end. The revelation of the
necklace falseness can mirror the futility Mathilde s dream of wealth, is it is not worth the trouble
just like how the necklace was not worth the ten years of

Essay On Assimilation In Canada
Within the international community Canada is regarded as an ethnically diverse country.
Conversely having many cultures under one roof does not represent multiculturalism. Over the 150
years Canada has existed, there have been many instances of persecution against immigrant and
First Nation populations. Thomas King s Totem and Wayson Choy The Jade Peony unveil how
their cultures fight to hold onto their heritage. This heritage which they regard very highly is
stripped away by the government to force an inclusion into Canadian Society. Canadas ethnic
groups are forced to separate into isolated islands or else they are coerced into assimilation.
Ever since white settlers landed on Canadian shores in the 1600 s, there have been conflicts with
the First Nations. From driving them off their land to exterminating them with European diseases,
the First Nation population has been struggling to keep their lineage and history from being
erased. With the struggle to keep themselves from being cut [off] close to the floor (Page 2) the
First Nation society has been confined to a small patch of land called a reservation , a small
downsize from all of Canada. The forced isolation that their population has endured has meant that

First Piece Of Art By Maria F. Simoes
The majority of us see art every day, sometimes we just fail to take notice of it. While other times
we notice it, but we fail to really see it. Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of
looking. I was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were
holding an exhibition by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare
multiple works from the same artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F.
Simoes that caught my eye was Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas,
which is her medium of choice for many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting
featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting. Simoes used colorto give the piece some variety,
while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone
base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the
clouds. The redused for the top of the windmill lends some variety. The color also draws the eye,
emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating interesting contrast.
The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes.
It helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the
viewer, while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and
the blue flower in the lower right overlap the stone

Grey s Anatomy Research Paper Disappearances happen in science. Disease can suddenly fade

Coordination Chemistry of 3D Transition Metals
1.1 Introduction:
Coordination chemistry, which is the chemistry of metal complexes, is an important and
fascinating branch of chemistry. The coordination compounds including organometallics are of
significant importance and play a pivotal role in industry, technology and life processes. Due to
their potential applications in various fields it has always fascinated and inspired chemists all
over the world. This can be evidenced by the vast prolificity and scope of research papers on the
subject in recent times and also by the diversity in which it has found applications.
Since Alfred Werner proposed the concept of coordination chemistryat the beginning of 20th
century, this field has developed very fast and led to the development of many interdisciplinary
areas [1]. This has led to the emergence of allied fields like transition metal organometallic
chemistry, homogeneous catalysis and bio inorganic chemistry. Coordination chemistry is a
fundamental to other pioneering fields like solid state chemistry, extended and mesoscopic
materials, photonic materials, models for solid surfaces, separation sciences and molecular
electronics. Together with supramolecular chemistry, coordination chemistry has developed new,
sophisticated ways to synthesize novel materials for catalysis, gas storage and magnetic data
storage [2 9].
The advent of excellent theories of electronic structure and bonding has contributed to a revived
interest in coordination chemistry of transition metals.

Building a Simple Motor
You can build a simple motor with magnet, wire, jumbo paper clips, sandpaper, neodymium
magnets, and a compass. There are motors all over the place in your house. You use electric
motors in your everyday life. When you connect the wires and connect it completes the current
and makes the motor start. The copper wire will start to spin when the current is completed. I am
build a simple motor and see if it spins slower or faster with bigger and smaller batteries I think it
will spin faster with bigger batteries. The electricityfrom the positive and negative end of the
battery and flows through the wire and makes the wire spin but you need to have the magnetfor the
wire to spin. You can change the way the wire spins but flipping the magnet over. The motor uses
the attracting and repelling forces to make the wire spin. If you use stronger magnets the force will
be greater. If you coil the wire more the magnetic fieldwill get larger. But you cannot put to many
coils in it or it will become too heavy. If you have wire with a coating you will have to scrap it
off for it to work. If you put the support braces to far apart that can also become a problem. You
can predict what way the wire or motor is going to spin. The electromagnet must spin in full
circles for it to work right. The force of the magnet will make the wire flip back and forth when
the electricity is going through the wire. The energy flows for the negative end of the battery to the
positive. It has to be

Comparing Three Different Classes of Vertebrates
Introduction Chordates are an animal phylum that is classified by four main characteristics that
they all obtain over the course of their lifespans. The first characteristic is the pharyngeal slits,
which can be found in non vertebrates, allow substances to enter and exit (Speer 2000). The
dorsal nerve cord serves as a connection between the brain and other muscles (Speer 2000). The
notochord can be found below the nerve cord and acts as a support system (Speer 2000). Finally,
the post anal tail comes out from the body from the opening of the anus (Speer 2000). One major
characteristic that distinguishes Vertebrates from invertebrates is the backbone that is present in
their bodies. Vertebrates also have two pair of appendages and have bilateral symmetry (Adojaan
2005). Along with a fully developed organ system, Vertebrates have a central and peripheral
nervous system and a closed circulatory system (Adojaan 2005). This lab report compares
Amphibia, Reptilia, and Mammalia in order to outline the similarities and differences between the
many vertebrate classes. By comparing and contrasting theses classes, a further understanding and
knowledge of Vertebrates can be gained. Part A Class Amphibia, more commonly known as
amphibians, have several features that set them apart as a unique Class. Organisms found within
the Class Amphibia are cold blooded and have very smooth skin (Prakash 2014). Amphibians can
be found on both land and water, which is necessary in order to keep

Reasons For Corruption In Thailand
Who is responsible for the Corruption in Thailand? Thailand is one of the most beautiful places in
the world. It s full of beautiful beaches, cities and wonderful food, however it is also home to a
great amount of corruption. I like to believe that the corruption in Thailand is caused by
globalization, the process where businesses or organizations gain international influence. Therefore
this research is based off of the question how are big corporations responsible for the corruptionin
Thailand? Big corporations are responsible for the corruption in Thailand because of briberyand

What are the working conditions in the factories in Thailand? The working conditions in these

Roles Of Women In The 1900 s
Women played a very distinct, yet changing role at the end of the 1800s. With that role they also
saturated the realm of art, almost completely eclipsing men. This dominance of the female figure
in art was partly the fault of the arguably chauvinistic attitude that the turn of the century male had
in regard to women. Women of the late 1800 s into the early 1900 s were an extension of the man
s success and station in so ciety. They were to be beautiful and helpless, completely reliant on the
man. Their posi tion was not allowed to undermine the males dominance in any way and everything

Ensuring environmental sustainability , climate change being one of the major factors, is one of the
millennium development goals of the UN. The United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP,
along with many organizations/agencies under the UN, collaboratively work towards achieving this
goal.
About the Chosen Aspect of Study
How does the United Nations support the millennium development goal of promoting
environmental sustainability by limiting climate change in South and North America? This
investigation shall focus on the previously mentioned question as this a very interesting topic to

Trichotillomania Onset Pregnancy
Introduction:
Trichotillomania is characterized by recurrent episodes of hair pulling behavior leading to
noticeable loss of hair, increasing tension before hair pulling or while coping with the urge to pull
out hair, taking pleasure or a sense of relief while pulling out hair, and social, occupational, and
functional impairment1.
Trichotillomania can involve any area in the body; however, the most common areas are the scalp,
followed by the eyebrows and eyelashes in children and in adults2. The seriousness of the pulling
behavior is perceived over time, and the disease exhibits a chronic course and it is resistant to
therapy3. It has been reported that patients with trichotillomania often did not feel pain while
pulling out hair, followed a particular pattern of hair pulling, and often chose strands with unusual
appearance, and exhibit repetitive behavior such as engaging oral stimulation after hair pulling4 5.
Some studies have suggested that trichotillomania had many common features with obsessive
compulsive disorder4 5.Here we discuss a patient with trichotillomania onset pregnanacy case.

of the church. The exception is the Parson; who is an accurate symbol of what the Clergyshould be,
unlike the Friar who neglects to pursue his missionary. For instance both men act in contrast of
each other and illustrate both the admirable and the sinful appearance of the clergy. Throughout
the tales these two men and their polarity are presented on accounts of their obligations of the
clergy, charitable nature, and their lifestyles. Above all, the Parson is seen as an eminent
exemplification which is described by Chaucer as a holy minded man of good renown (line
475), the only faithful clergy in the tales. The Parson lives a life where he preaches to his
worshippers so that they can follow saying, With houses far asunder he neglected not in rain or
thunder, in sickness or in grief, to pay a call (Lines 501 503). This quote describes the Parson as
a devout loyalist who perseveres through adversity, no matter the weather or his physical
conditions. Every day he sets out to educate and create an honorable example and advocate for
Christ s gospel to those all around the town. The Friar on the other hand is a selfish man not fitting
with dignity of his position (lines 247 248). Instead of

Fight Club Consumerism Analysis
David Fincher s Fight Club is praised by fans and critics alike as one of the most impactful
representation of society in film. The film follows Jack, the narrator and main character, as he
teams up with a newfound acquaintance named Tyler Durden to form an underground fight club
for men who are bored of their mundane lives(Fincher 1999). As Durden becomes more of a
dominant personality, Fight Club evolves to Project Mayhem, multi celled secret society of
oppressed gray collar workers whose purpose is to battle the modern culture of
consumerism(Fincher 1999). The movie is often discussed by people due to its representation of the
modern manand consumeristic society. In Fight Club, the modern man is described as a white
collar slave who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes a sense of powerlessness and a lack of sense of accomplishments as the workers are
fulfilling goals of others and not for themselves. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not speak
about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you do not speak about Fight Club! (Fincher
1999). This rule is used as unity for the group of men involved to create their own counterculture.
Counterculture is defined cultural patterns that strongly oppose those widely accepted within a
society(Macionis,2002:49). As Fight Club progresses and the relationships of the men grows, the
group evolves to a Project Mayhem, a rebellious group to fight consumeristic culture through
terroristic actions, such as public bombing(Fincher 1999). The group they created helps these
men cope with the role strain they have experience as grey collar workers. Through Violence,
both with fist and weapons, The people in project Mayhem causes chaos in white collar society.
This common mission finally gives the members the meaning in their lives they craved so much.
We are all part of the same compost heap, Tyler Durden announces over the loudspeaker to his
fellow project mayhem members(Fincher 1999). This statement by Durden represents the
foundation of an In group We are all in this together . In Group is defined as a social group toward

Puerto Rico Research Papers
Puerto Rico is one of the prettiest and bluest places on Earth. The absolute location is 18.2208N,
66.5901 W. It is an island, so it is surrounded by water, specifically the Atlantic Ocean. Strange
enough, with so much water around, you would think that Puerto Rico s fishing industry would be
outrageous, but its falling fruits beat the title. The people of Puerto Ricoare called bordiqua and are
very proud of their Latin heritage. They are also extremely proud of their flag with the lonesome
star representing common wealth of Puerto Rico. Each three points of the blue triangle represent
its 3 branches of Republican government (executive, legislative, and judicial). The three stripes
of red stand for the blood shed on the island and the two white stripes represent freedom of man.
The Puerto Rican Rock frog (AKA coquito) is a very large part of their culture. It is called a robber
frog because of the loud noises it makes leaving sounds like blazing sirens.
Movement in Puerto Rico in an everyday standard is about the same as in Belle Chasse, LA.
Mopeds, cars and trains are often used. To migrate from and to this island one must travel by air

On the day of 1945 when World War ll came to end, a whole new form of tension formed known as
the Cold War. The Cold War was essentially a long period of time in which the United Stateshad
tensions with the Soviet Union. The Nazis, led by Adolf Hitler had withdrew from the war, the

This also is a reoccurring problem in Korea between the North and South. As seen in the map
showing the similarities of the results of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, we can see the
similarity that following the Cold War the North and South of both countries were split due to the
difference in communism and non communism. The North of both countries followed into
communist ways while the South of both countries remained non communist. This map shows he
similarities in how the Cold War split the country apart. The Vietnam War happened in 1954
because the South were not communist and the North were communist which was the same
situation in Korea. The US sent troops to Vietnam to assist the South because they too, hated
communism. The North Vietnamese utilized secret tunnels and traps to fight against the south.
The War ended in 1973 when both sides split and still are split today just like Korea. (Document
6) Communism played a part in India foreign policy in 1956. The United Kingdom always had
control of India until 1947 when they broke apart. During this time India decided to pass a
foreign policy that stated that India would not be able to align with any major powers which
was unusual because India had close military ties with the Soviet Union, a major power.
Although in the end the policy was not in affect because they broke apart with the Soviet Union,
India hoped to create powerful ties with the US and Europe. In 1956 India s foreign policy was
that they did not want to interfere with any major powers. They did not want to interfere or align
them self to any powers like the US or Soviets even thought they looked to the Soviets for military
help and sought to created ties with the US. Overall, the Cold War affected India by implementing a
foreign policy that restricted them from having anything to do with other powerful countries.

Local Self Government
Introduction
Local government institutions have always existed in India in one form or another since ancient
times. The present form of urban local government owes its genesis to the British rule. The
initiation began with Samuel Laing, member of the Viceroy s Council, in the Budget Speech
(1861 62) proposing that local services should be based on local resources. Lord Mayo s
Resolution of 1870 introduced the concept of elected representatives in the municipalities. Lord
Ripon is considered the founding father of urban local government as he implanted the concept of
municipal authorities as units of self government. His Resolution of 18 May 1882 on local self

The government had a direct link with the peasants instead of the feudatories. The Chola kings
had adopted the Yuvaraja during king`s rule. The orders of the kings were written and copies of it
would be sent to respective departments and officers. The royal priest was the reliable advisor of
the King.
Development of local self government was one of the most striking features of administration of
the Chola dynasty. The villages were given autonomy despite centralised system of governance.
The Chola officials acted as advisors to village assemblies and there was no interference in daily
administration. Thus there was continuity in village administration despite political upheavals.
The general assembly was classified into tax paying villagers, Brahmins and traders. The central
government officers examined accounts and supervised the work of the tax paying villagers. The
village assemblies received gifts from rich men or from king for developmental activities. The
feudatories were unable to impede in the village management. Their job was very clerical in the
sense it was a mere collection of taxes and passing the share to the King.
Elaborate and complicated mechanisms are the attributes of Chola administration. Administration
under the Chola dynasty was systematically conducted. Autonomy along with centralization was
moderately followed in each and every level. Revenue, justice, governance and military were given

Under the hub process, Fritz co ordinated both the material flow and information flow and acted as
customs broker. For international shipments Fritz entities were involved at port of origin, entry and
at the hub. It arranged transportation using many carriers over various shipment legs. It invested
heavily to upgrade its Information system in support of the supplier hub project including
innovation of FLUX, an tracking system which flowed through the process i.e from Order,

Could Apple have made any of these changes without implementing a supplier hub? What
alternative solutions could have been implemented?
Apple could have thought of having these changes done without a supplier base also as this hub
system although useful for Apple and Fritz, was a bit riskier for suppliers as cases of extended
warehousing, damage at hub and delay in shipments etc.. were considered As mentioned in the case
Apple had difficult in convincing the suppliers for the hub Agreement and even had to customize

Wisconsin Rock Formation Essay
Wisconsin contains rocks ranging from around 359 million years all the way to 2.8 billion years
old. Fortunately, this wide range of rocks has patterns in their placement across the state. If one
were to dig down to solid rock, in general, the age of upper most rocks layers increases in age
going from west to east, and also from south to north. The history of the formation of Wisconsin to
its present day condition happed through major geological events such as various tectonic
processes, sedimentation, metamorphism, and glaciation. Let s walk through the major events that
have come to define Wisconsin geology. The oldest rocks in Wisconsin are in the northern most part

During rifting of continents around 2.4 billion years ago, major passive margin, continental plate
drifting apart to form mid ocean ridge, was produced throughout Wisconsin. By, 1.875 billion years,
the margin became a subduction zone, boundary where tectonic plates collide, this resulted in
banded Iron Formation rocks(BIFs) being deposited in northernmost Wisconsin. Through time,
these BIFs have become metamorphosed and deformed. While this was happening, around 1.85
billion years ago an island arc, oceanic islands with intense volcanic activities, crashed into the
continent. Later on around 1.84 billion years ago another continental crustal body crashed into the
continent. These continental collisions formed mountains called The Penokean Mountains.
Metamorphism and sedimentation of this mountain is responsible for the other older rocks we see
in northern Wisconsin. These rocks include the Powell Kyanite Schist and quartzite. The Mazatzal

A Brief Note On Hansen Mechanical Contractors ( Hmc )
Hansen Mechanical Contractors (HMC) is a large construction company who has changed the
way sick time and personal time off (PTO) is paid and taken. In past years (up until 2013) sick time
was only able to be taken in the calendar year and if not taken would be lost. Each employee was
given seven sick days per year. Sick time could not be rolled over or cashed out at the end of the
year. HMC decided starting January 1, 2014 that they would change this policy in hopes of
giving their employees an incentive to not use sick time and take less days off per year. Sick
time was changed to PTO time and they were given seven PTO days per year. The change to
PTO time gave the employees the incentive to not use their PTO time and to instead be paid 50
cents on the dollar for time not used at the end of the year. This business situation should be
addressed to see the impact that this change has had on the company and to see if the company s
goals with the new policy are being achieved.
Part B1: Summary of Data
The data collected to do this analysis is the employee s attendance records by year (2013, 2014,
2015) from the imaging system. The attendance records are a record of how much sick and PTO
time was taken for the entire year. The amount of time taken is then entered into a table by
employee. There are 33 employees who will be entered into the table by year. The accounting
system also holds this data which I used to double check the numbers against the attendance

Jack the Ripper was a legacy of sorts, he killed at least 5 women without being caught in his

Jack the Ripper tortured and killed women, led a life of mystery, and still gets credit for it today.
In London on August 31 through November 9, 1888 five prostitutes were murdered. These murders

The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just

event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food

The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though
the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and

dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an

decided I wanted to do more. I became a deacon at my church and several times a month I help run

A Generation Lost In the Workplace
The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment
today, and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters
the workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the
shift of power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they
have never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that
generation is Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and

Clean Meat Is Wrong
Because of this breakthrough, Scharfenberg believes people abiding by their religion s strict rules
on food, such as Jews and Muslims, can consume meat without it being ethically condemned by
their religion. This isn t to say people of religions which condemn certain products are now cleared
to eat these foods, it is a matter of interpretation to what they believe is haram, or forbidden. Many
Muslims who do not consume bovine and swine meatbelieve that clean meat is ethically clean, but
it still originates from a sacred animal.
Many concerns with clean meat are related to the cost, but the prices are, falling about 15 to 20
percent per month, as the company improves yields and finds less expensive nutrients. Within the
next several years, as prices decrease, clean meat products will become publicly available through
stores around the world. Cause and effect could eventually drive slaughterhouses into the ground,

Role of Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible
Much is known of men in ancient civilizations, from the famous philosophers and mathematicians

that history has forgotten the women of these times. What of the famous female thinkers of Ancient
Greece, the distinguished stateswomen of Rome? What power did they hold? What was their

mirrors the conception of many ancient, male driven societies of women being fickle, disloyal

Aphrodite is a kind of divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group,
nevertheless gives in to petty emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no
women were allowed in the academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise. Thetis

devoted mother of Achilles, trying to do what is best for her son. Athena may give aid to the
Greek cause, but only because she was not picked by Paris as the most fair. The only mortal
woman in the Iliad who seems to have any redeeming qualities, and to whom we are not
introduced for any real amount of time, in contrast to Hecuba, is Andromache, who makes a brief,
yet lasting appearance as Hector s wife. For the most part, however, women in the Iliad are placed
decidedly in the background, at best shown as accessories to their male spouses.

LM2907/LM2917 Frequency to Voltage Converter June 2000 LM2907/LM2917 Frequency to
Voltage Converter General Description The LM2907, LM2917 series are monolithic frequency
to voltage converters with a high gain op amp/comparator designed to operate a relay, lamp, or
other load when the input frequency reaches or exceeds a selected rate. The tachometer uses a
charge pump technique and offers frequency doubling for low ripple, full input protection in two
versions (LM2907 8, LM2917 8) and its output swings to ground for a zero frequency input. The
op amp/comparator is fully compatible with the tachometer and has a floating transistor as its
output. This feature allows either a ground or supply referred load of up to 50 mA. The... Show

Possible Causes Of Jealousy In Relationship
Possible causes of jealousy and its effects on a relationship
One of the most authentic causes of jealousy is unhealthy comparisons. By human nature people
are often comparing things and one another.
Insecurity There is no greater source of jealousy in a relationship than insecurity, which is a
result of inferiority complex or lack of self confidence or having low self esteem. An insecure
person believes that he or she is not good enough; they assume that everyone else is better than
they are and are therefore easily intimidated by other people s success, happiness, brilliance,
possession or class. Insecurity which can arise as a result of peer pressure or unbalanced societal
expectations or judgment causes people to become vulnerable to ... Show more content on

Jealousy is a sign that something is seriously wrong about your relationship. And most often it is
not about your partner but rather about you. Do you have trust issues? Do you have a low self
esteem? Do you feel the need to control your partner s whereabouts and actions? All these things
will do more damage than good to your relationship.
Nobody wants a jealous lover. Jealousy will simply sap the energy and beauty out of your
relationship. According to Eharmony.com Jealousy is all about trying to restrict, manipulate, and
monitor another person s behavior and choices. Look out if your relationship is increasingly filled
with questions such as, Where were you? Why were you talking to him? Who sent you that text
message? You heard from that person on Facebook again?
A relationship thrives on freedom the freedom to grow and develop, to be authentic and genuine, to
pursue new opportunities. Unfounded jealousy is a stranglehold sure to suffocate any romantic
relationship. Wanta lasting, healthy love relationship? Make sure both partners have the space,
encouragement, and autonomy to be who they are without someone else watching every breath and

Justin Brieber Satire
Cars lined up all waiting to get into the Schottenstein Center many of young girls screaming and
singing all for the one and only JUSTIN BIEBER! Many fans believe that he is the one of the best
performer in the pop music genre, so I decided to go see it for myself. Bieber is known for his
powerful props such as rain, trampolines, and solos with no background music. All this make his
show pure entertainment.
The show all started from open performances from Post Malone and Moxy Raia. When buying
the tickets I didn t know who these artists were so I had to look them up. Post Malone is a rapper
and guitarist, so I thought he should be good. Therefore, when I got into the arena I was excited
to listen to him, but it was awful. He was so loud and he didn t really sing. I would never want to
go back and listen to him again. This got my expectations down for the concert. I definitely ... Show

He came out from a huge light up box from under the floor singing Mark my Words . This is was
incredible! Most people were on their feet screaming and singing it. After a few of him singing
and dancing I was like Wow! He is good. This raised my expectation, since they were low from
the open performers. I honestly loved his opening song and don t think he could of done any
better. Next, the song Company came on. This was one of my favorites, but he didn t just sing
it. A huge trampoline came down from the top of the ceiling and he and his background dancers
jumped on top of it! I looked like straight across and he was flipping and singing at the same time.
This was so much better than any other concert I have ever been too! Bieber had an incredible
idea on how to get his crowd into the concert. I gave him a lot of credit for flipping and singing
at the same time not many people could do that. After this song I knew why people said he was
one of the best performers. He did a fantastic job and I wouldn t have any suggestions on how to

Three Personal Goals
Zandria Drakeford Professor Alexander English 101 20 January 2015 Three Personal Goals I
Have at This Time As we are in a New Year, I have set many personal goals that I would like to
accomplish to become a better individual. I have always been a person who set goals, whether
they are long term or short term, I always have them. I like to set goals for myself because goals
give me guidance throughout life. Now that a new year has approached, I am focusing on three
main goals that I would like to achieve at this time. Those three goals include managing my time
better, to keep maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and to continue to remain focus this upcoming
semester. Managing my time better is one of my personal goals at this time because time
management has always been a challenge for me. I would like to manage more of my time in
studying especially because I tend to get distracted easily. If I applied myself more in studying
than I could definitely accomplish more and have a better understanding of the material. Trying to
balance a social life and schoolwork is another issue, where I could manage my time differently. I

Healing Emotional Trauma Research Paper
Healing emotional trauma
Emotional wounds are as real as physical bleeding wounds, and can affect every aspect of your life.
You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable
and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or
sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional
abuse.
PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic
stress. Although most people associate these conditions with extreme life threatening situations, not
everyone with a form of traumatic stress has been through such dangerous events.
Even though the emotional trauma seems to be a highly individual experience, trans generational
PTSD like or hereditary trauma and behavioral patterns may be transmitted across generations
through the process of parental epigenetic programming. Thus, traumatic experiences can be passed
down from generation to generation, such that children 6 years and younger may suffer from
preschool PTSD and display similar behavioral issues as their parents, or their ancestors. In a similar
way, complex tragenerational transmitted information helps the fourth generation of Monarch
butterfly descendants find theyr way and return to exactly the same wintering sites as their grand
grandparent left the winter before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rehabilitation Of The Body Is Only One Phase Of A...
rehabilitation of the body is only one phase of a continuing life. Similarly, facing a traumatic
event such as EOL adds uncertainty about the future and awareness of human s temporality. A
study of lived experience of son and daughter caregivers seemed potentially helpful to understand
EOL existential experience of the caregiver role and potential development of information that
strengthens caregiver s preparedness. Bachner et al. (2011) and Wong and Tomer (2011) discussed
the value of death acceptance as a means of coming to terms with death constructively, which
would promote preparation for good life and good death. Roth et al. (2013) suggested a benefit of
better understanding of caregiver needs would be to increase positive impacts of caregiving.
Totman et al. (2015) predicted that EOL care impacts caregivers because they are existential beings
and the impending death of their parent disrupts established routines and can impact goals, values,
beliefs, and roles. Wong and Tomer (2011) suggested research designed to explore death acceptance
would add understanding to the mechanisms and pathways to positive outcomes. Therefore, using
an existential framework to analyze adult child caregivers existential experience moves beyond a
simple mechanistic depletion model because stress may relate to conflicts between freedom,
responsibility, beliefs, religiosity, isolation, loss, and continued existence (survival). The depletion
model suggests that human energy is

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in
1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable
structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid
monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer
Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its
construction, the Eiffel Towersurpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest
man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show

The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore.
Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig
iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non
metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design,
if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base
to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter.
Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to
18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun.
Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect
it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to
maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are
used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color
of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are
interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The only non
structural elements are the four decorative grillwork arches, added in Stephen Sauvestre s sketches,

Hybrid Cars And Hybrid Electric Vehicles
In the present generation where automobiles are very important in daily life, there is two types of
cars i.e. Gasoline vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, hybrid electric cars which used quite a
while but not as much as their gasoline counterparts. The difference between these two cars is
mainly the Engine, tank, and the source on which the cars work. The hybrid electric vehicleis more a
computerized and electric version where it switch between running on gasoline and electricity.
Other than that major changes, these cars are fundamentally the same. The body and the
maneuvering design of these are fundamentally the same. Hybrid cars were few to come by when
they were initially introduced, but current climate change and pollution issues have encouraged
people to opt for the cleaner and greener version of the automobile. Although both kinds of
automobiles are being used, there are a lot of aspects where these automobiles can be differentiated.
A few comparisons between these two vehicles is stated below.
1.HISTORY:
a.Hybrid: This type of engine vehicles were invented in the 19th century but it came into market in
early 2000 and gained popularity in the 2005 from then on many started to use this type of vehicles.
b.Gasoline: This type of vehicles were invented in 1876 in Germany and the usage of these cars
was from 1882 and it is still very much in demand in the market for its features.

Thus, statistically higher occupancy percentage which the Ritz enjoys does not hold much
importance and is irrelevant in the long run.
However, when the researcher applied the quantitative technique to check the confidence interval
for ADR of Ritz Carlton at 98% interval it resulted in an upper limit of US$207 which raises the
bar US$40 when compared to Four Seasons figures for the last 3 years. Since the occupancy is
same for both the hotels, market potential reveals that there is great scope to improve the revenues
as it is done by Four Seasons. Higher occupancy is achieved due to demand in the market. Thus,
reducing cost would only lead to reduction in prices which seems to be unviable option. 1.4.2.2
Increasing Price
The researcher opines that by increasing prices a rise in the ADR can be achieved since it is a
sum total of room revenue multiplied by occupancy %. However, while the prices are increased
the existing guest may be resistance to pay the increased price with the same facilities provided by
the hotel.
Another potential issue with choosing this alternative of increasing prices would be the percentage
by which the price rises are raised for the product. Having used the quantitative techniques on the
ADR of Ritz Carlton found that a 9% increase in the ADR was considerably alike to present
average of the ADR. This means that an increase

Hippie Culture

The people of this generation didn t follow the teachings of its elders, but rejected them for an
alternative culture, which was their very own (Harris 14). This new subculture was such a radical
society that it was given it s own name which is still used to this day. They came to be known as,
the Hippies. The Hippie movement originated in San Francisco, California and spread across the

sometimes it was fatal. Bad LSD was so common that even at Woodstock people were having

man by the name of Dr. Timothy Leary was a Harvard professor who had ideas about LSD. He

  • 2. Department Stores Department Stores are Struggling! Ashley Pearson FYS: History of Providence Professor Hughes December 17, 2012 In 2012 department stores in Providence are struggling. When one takes a drive through Providence the main retail stores are in the Providence Place Mall. From an outsider s point of view it doesn t look like these stores are struggling. After all, everyone in Providence knows where this tremendous mall is. What people do not know is that in reality they are headed downhill. These stores are department stores. By 1986, the ultimate fate of the Big O was decided by a grand fire.[15] Afterwards, Johnson and Wales University soon cleared the site and its built dorms in the Big O s place. If you drive down Weybosset Street today you will still be able to see the tremendous clock tower that was once owned by The Outlet. The Shepards department store was another department store that rose and fell in Providence s earlier years. Shepards was the department store that was the biggest rival to The Outlet. It opened in 1880 at the corner of Westminster and Clemence Streets. According to Midge Frazel, customers could shop and have your purchases sent by delivery truck to your home if you lived near the city.[16] This would create an easy and affordable way to get the items you needed, especially if you needed a bunch of items! Shepards was also one of the three department stores that were connected by the Tri Strore Bridge. This bridge connected Gladding, Shepards and Cherry Webb. The bridge was built shortly before 1900.[17] The bridge encouraged people to not only go to one of the stores, but all three. • 3. Colin Powell Pros And Cons Who is Colin Powell? He is a retired four star General in the United States Army. He was also the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001 2005), serving under President George W. Bush. Powell was the first and only African American to serve in that position to date and was an exemplary leader of many facets. Colin Powellhas spent a majority of his life serving our Nation and is a decorated Army veteran. Powell developed 18 principles in Leadershipbased off of his experiences and these principles could be applied to develop better Leaders. I feel that I could relate to several of his principles but the three that I identify with the most are you don t know what you can get away with until you try, don t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard and lastly to have fun in your command. Colin Powell s principle that states you don t know what you can get away with until you try sticks out to me the most because it s how I ve lived my life thus far. My favorite quote is to ask for forgiveness and never for permission. My entire military career has been full of moments of my exercising Mission Commands disciplined initiative ... I have spent 12 years in the military and have never allowed the status quo to dictate my endeavors. Challenging the pros is an aspect I believe that drives the term perfect your craft. In the wild the male lion has a pride that he must protect but no matter how strong the lion, there is always a younger and stronger lion that will eventually dethrone him. In our profession we must not stray away from challenging those we seek to emulate and following them blindly for like the lion there will eventually be a younger lion with his eyes on the pride. • 5. Cystic Fibrosis Analysis To understand the effects that Cystic Fibrosis has, it is important to discuss CFTR synthesis and trafficking. Mutations in the CFTR results in protein misfolding, causing a defect in cellular processing and trafficking that targets the protein for degradation and reduces the quantity of CFTR at the cellsurface [56]. In order for the CFTR to function correctly, then it must be synthesized, folded, and transported to the apical membrane of the cell without problem. The CFTR passes through quality control systems to get rid of misfolded proteins that would not function properly or that could become damaged [16]. It is apparent that only 33% of CFTR folds correctly and is allowed to leave the endoplasmic reticulum[8]. The nucleus is the site... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One system detects defects in the cytosolic parts of the CFTR while the other detects defects within the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is apparent that ubiquitylating proteins work with specific factors in order to detect misfolding. For example, Hsp70 detects mutations in the cytosolic regions of the CFTR. It is suspected that Hsp70 keeps the CFTR soluble until the E3 ligase CHIP binds with it. The complex that forms between these two redirects the CFTR to the degradation pathway. Derlin 1 is involved with detecting defects in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and is involved in the retro translocation of CFTR from the endoplasmic reticulum so that it can be send to the proteasome for degradation [20]. If the CFTR protein is folded correctly within the endoplasmic reticulum, then it is sent to the Golgi apparatus. The coat protein complex II (COPII), which is found within the ER membrane, helps to maintain the correct CFTR structure and location, conformation, and protein protein interactions as this occurs. Final processing for the CFTR is carried out within the Golgi, as the CFTR replaces a mannose enriched side chain with a mature complex oligosaccharide side chain. After this is completed, the CFTR is moved to the apical membrane where it has a half life of 12 to 24 hours. If a CFTR is functioning poorly within the membrane, then it can be recognized by Hsc70 and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her essay, she constantly compares men and women. Her comparisons range from their physical nature to their intelligence and even down to the education that each sex receives is commendable. Wollstonecraft said that, In the government of the physical world it is observable that the female in point of strength is, in general, inferior to the male (Wollstonecraft 35). She has also revealed that women are inferior to men in physicality and a number of areas throughout the essay. However, her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humans have been around for thousands of years, yet men still disgrace. In my point of view, she has portrayed society as a debatable platform where is a urge to stand up for women to every women along with men. The rights of women and their place in society have been a debate of different degrees throughout time. As we grow up in a society and culture that raises us and educates us about rights and wrongs and how things should be it has blinded women from their true potential and rights as human beings. However, just like a child that learns to walk, Wollstonecraft takes the first steps leading the ongoing prominent debate of the rights of women. Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own In Virginia Woolf s feminist essay A Room of One s Own, Woolf argues that, a womanmust have money and a room of her own (16) if she is to write fiction of any value. The point as she develops it is a perceptive one and far more layered and various in its implications than it might be at first seem. However, I wonder if perhaps Woolf did not really hit the full power of her thesis. She recognized the necessity of the writer s financial independence to the birth of great writing. However, she failed to discover the true relationship to great writing of another freedom for just as economic freedom allows one to inhabit a physical space like a room of one s individual so does mental ... • 7. Mentalism In The Necklace, By Guy De Maupassant The necklace is a short story written by Maupassant to present the mentality of people in France during its golden ages. He did that through the use of more familiar characters to the reader who have positives and negatives, following the guidelines of literary realism to give the reader a closer perspective on the life during those days. It is based on a middle class woman who married to a junior clerk in the Ministry of Education. She had an honorable life but always felt that she was intended for a life of refinement and luxury Maupassant is trying to portray human nature, of always striving for more than what they have and are never pleased with what s between their hands. This is clearly displayed through Mathilde s character, as she had no fine dresses, no jewelry, nothing. And that is all that she cared about . However she has done everything in her power make her life appear better than how it is like, That was Maupassant s message that society was too dependent on other people s judgments which had forced people to live in an illusional world where everyone s actual lives does not match the ideal life they had in their heads. The pronoun nothing is a hyperbole, because she obviously didn t nothing especially that she was able to buy a new, real, diamond necklace. It also exaggerates her state of poverty, which contrasts with reality as she comes from the middle class. Maupassant message is portrayed by the necklace as it could be interpreted as a symbol of wealth as it is flashy but false in the end. The revelation of the necklace falseness can mirror the futility Mathilde s dream of wealth, is it is not worth the trouble just like how the necklace was not worth the ten years of ... • 8. Essay On Assimilation In Canada Within the international community Canada is regarded as an ethnically diverse country. Conversely having many cultures under one roof does not represent multiculturalism. Over the 150 years Canada has existed, there have been many instances of persecution against immigrant and First Nation populations. Thomas King s Totem and Wayson Choy The Jade Peony unveil how their cultures fight to hold onto their heritage. This heritage which they regard very highly is stripped away by the government to force an inclusion into Canadian Society. Canadas ethnic groups are forced to separate into isolated islands or else they are coerced into assimilation. Ever since white settlers landed on Canadian shores in the 1600 s, there have been conflicts with the First Nations. From driving them off their land to exterminating them with European diseases, the First Nation population has been struggling to keep their lineage and history from being erased. With the struggle to keep themselves from being cut [off] close to the floor (Page 2) the First Nation society has been confined to a small patch of land called a reservation , a small downsize from all of Canada. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting. Simoes used colorto give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The redused for the top of the windmill lends some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating interesting contrast. The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer, while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue flower in the lower right overlap the stone ... • 12. Coordination Chemistry of 3D Transition Metals 1.1 Introduction: Coordination chemistry, which is the chemistry of metal complexes, is an important and fascinating branch of chemistry. The coordination compounds including organometallics are of significant importance and play a pivotal role in industry, technology and life processes. Due to their potential applications in various fields it has always fascinated and inspired chemists all over the world. This can be evidenced by the vast prolificity and scope of research papers on the subject in recent times and also by the diversity in which it has found applications. Since Alfred Werner proposed the concept of coordination chemistryat the beginning of 20th century, this field has developed very fast and led to the development of many interdisciplinary areas [1]. This has led to the emergence of allied fields like transition metal organometallic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis and bio inorganic chemistry. Coordination chemistry is a fundamental to other pioneering fields like solid state chemistry, extended and mesoscopic materials, photonic materials, models for solid surfaces, separation sciences and molecular electronics. Together with supramolecular chemistry, coordination chemistry has developed new, sophisticated ways to synthesize novel materials for catalysis, gas storage and magnetic data storage [2 9]. The advent of excellent theories of electronic structure and bonding has contributed to a revived interest in coordination chemistry of transition metals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You use electric motors in your everyday life. When you connect the wires and connect it completes the current and makes the motor start. The copper wire will start to spin when the current is completed. I am build a simple motor and see if it spins slower or faster with bigger and smaller batteries I think it will spin faster with bigger batteries. The electricityfrom the positive and negative end of the battery and flows through the wire and makes the wire spin but you need to have the magnetfor the wire to spin. You can change the way the wire spins but flipping the magnet over. The motor uses the attracting and repelling forces to make the wire spin. If you use stronger magnets the force will be greater. If you coil the wire more the magnetic fieldwill get larger. But you cannot put to many coils in it or it will become too heavy. If you have wire with a coating you will have to scrap it off for it to work. If you put the support braces to far apart that can also become a problem. You can predict what way the wire or motor is going to spin. The electromagnet must spin in full circles for it to work right. The force of the magnet will make the wire flip back and forth when the electricity is going through the wire. The energy flows for the negative end of the battery to the positive. It has to be ... • 14. Comparing Three Different Classes of Vertebrates Introduction Chordates are an animal phylum that is classified by four main characteristics that they all obtain over the course of their lifespans. The first characteristic is the pharyngeal slits, which can be found in non vertebrates, allow substances to enter and exit (Speer 2000). The dorsal nerve cord serves as a connection between the brain and other muscles (Speer 2000). The notochord can be found below the nerve cord and acts as a support system (Speer 2000). Finally, the post anal tail comes out from the body from the opening of the anus (Speer 2000). One major characteristic that distinguishes Vertebrates from invertebrates is the backbone that is present in their bodies. Vertebrates also have two pair of appendages and have bilateral symmetry (Adojaan 2005). Along with a fully developed organ system, Vertebrates have a central and peripheral nervous system and a closed circulatory system (Adojaan 2005). This lab report compares Amphibia, Reptilia, and Mammalia in order to outline the similarities and differences between the many vertebrate classes. By comparing and contrasting theses classes, a further understanding and knowledge of Vertebrates can be gained. Part A Class Amphibia, more commonly known as amphibians, have several features that set them apart as a unique Class. Organisms found within the Class Amphibia are cold blooded and have very smooth skin (Prakash 2014). Amphibians can be found on both land and water, which is necessary in order to keep ... A Brief Note On Hansen Mechanical Contractors ( Hmc ) Hansen Mechanical Contractors (HMC) is a large construction company who has changed the way sick time and personal time off (PTO) is paid and taken. In past years (up until 2013) sick time was only able to be taken in the calendar year and if not taken would be lost. Each employee was given seven sick days per year. Sick time could not be rolled over or cashed out at the end of the year. HMC decided starting January 1, 2014 that they would change this policy in hopes of giving their employees an incentive to not use sick time and take less days off per year. Sick time was changed to PTO time and they were given seven PTO days per year. The change to PTO time gave the employees the incentive to not use their PTO time and to instead be paid 50 cents on the dollar for time not used at the end of the year. This business situation should be addressed to see the impact that this change has had on the company and to see if the company s goals with the new policy are being achieved. Part B1: Summary of Data The data collected to do this analysis is the employee s attendance records by year (2013, 2014, 2015) from the imaging system. The attendance records are a record of how much sick and PTO time was taken for the entire year. The amount of time taken is then entered into a table by employee. There are 33 employees who will be entered into the table by year. The accounting system also holds this data which I used to double check the numbers against the attendance ... • 31. Jack The Ripper Legacy Essay Jack the Ripper was a legacy of sorts, he killed at least 5 women without being caught in his lifetime. His murders were so famous that people today still make theories of who he was and why he did it. We may not know who he is, but we do know what he did and what he left behind. Jack the Ripper tortured and killed women, led a life of mystery, and still gets credit for it today. In London on August 31 through November 9, 1888 five prostitutes were murdered. These murders were done at the hand of Jack the Ripper, the very well known, unknown, murderer in Whitechapel. The press attributed around 11 murders to Jack, but only five were for sure done by him. The women he killed were: Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. William Withey Gull was pinned for the murders, but at the time was at a ripe age of 71 and in poor health, so he obviously was not the killer (10 Things You Probably Don t Know About Jack the Ripper). A man named Thomas Cutbush was a suspect because he had stabbed women in the buttocks, but had never actually killed anyone (10 Things You Don t Know About Jack the Ripper). She said she was studying Aeromonas Salmonicida, a bacterium that causes diseases in salmon. She wanted me to use bioinformatics tools to learn about its ability to infect salmon. The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just 10 minutes gets their shoes soggy and moist. Imagine walking around all day and sleeping all night in that! Being homeless also means it harder to afford find food. Hearing these stories from people I talked to every week made me want to do something about it. I ran for ASB of my high school and became the Senior Class President. I used my position to organize foodball, an event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food storage facility that donates to food banks across the State of Washington in times of emergency. The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and help raise resources for food banks, like socks, shoes, and shirts. I cleaned up after the events, dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an intercity dodgeball game. A game which Aberdeen won. Although Aberdeen didn t beat Hoquiam in the end, we managed to beat the amount of food raised last year. After foodball ended, I decided I wanted to do more. Clean Meat Is Wrong Because of this breakthrough, Scharfenberg believes people abiding by their religion s strict rules on food, such as Jews and Muslims, can consume meat without it being ethically condemned by their religion. This isn t to say people of religions which condemn certain products are now cleared to eat these foods, it is a matter of interpretation to what they believe is haram, or forbidden. Many Muslims who do not consume bovine and swine meatbelieve that clean meat is ethically clean, but it still originates from a sacred animal. Many concerns with clean meat are related to the cost, but the prices are, falling about 15 to 20 percent per month, as the company improves yields and finds less expensive nutrients. Within the next several years, as prices decrease, clean meat products will become publicly available through stores around the world. Cause and effect could eventually drive slaughterhouses into the ground, halt climate change, and change how the world views what they are eating, changing how we perceive the human diet for eternity (Scharfenberg). The myth of how the war between the Greeks and the Trojans began, itself, shows women, in this case goddesses, in an unflattering light, fighting like vain beauty queens over which one is more beautiful. In fact, the very character of these three goddesses is at the least reprehensible and mirrors the conception of many ancient, male driven societies of women being fickle, disloyal temptresses. Hera is the paranoid, jealous wife who viciously strikes out at her husband s lovers, Aphrodite is a kind of divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group, nevertheless gives in to petty emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no women were allowed in the academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise. Thetis intentions are the exception to the trivial designs of her immortal counterparts, for she is always the devoted mother of Achilles, trying to do what is best for her son. Athena may give aid to the Greek cause, but only because she was not picked by Paris as the most fair. The only mortal woman in the Iliad who seems to have any redeeming qualities, and to whom we are not introduced for any real amount of time, in contrast to Hecuba, is Andromache, who makes a brief, yet lasting appearance as Hector s wife. For the most part, however, women in the Iliad are placed decidedly in the background, at best shown as accessories to their male spouses. Expanding on the Iliad, the Odyssey ... You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional abuse. PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic stress. Although most people associate these conditions with extreme life threatening situations, not everyone with a form of traumatic stress has been through such dangerous events. Even though the emotional trauma seems to be a highly individual experience, trans generational PTSD like or hereditary trauma and behavioral patterns may be transmitted across generations through the process of parental epigenetic programming. Thus, traumatic experiences can be passed down from generation to generation, such that children 6 years and younger may suffer from preschool PTSD and display similar behavioral issues as their parents, or their ancestors. • 48. Rehabilitation Of The Body Is Only One Phase Of A... rehabilitation of the body is only one phase of a continuing life. Similarly, facing a traumatic event such as EOL adds uncertainty about the future and awareness of human s temporality. A study of lived experience of son and daughter caregivers seemed potentially helpful to understand EOL existential experience of the caregiver role and potential development of information that strengthens caregiver s preparedness. Bachner et al. (2011) and Wong and Tomer (2011) discussed the value of death acceptance as a means of coming to terms with death constructively, which would promote preparation for good life and good death. Roth et al. (2013) suggested a benefit of better understanding of caregiver needs would be to increase positive impacts of caregiving. Totman et al. (2015) predicted that EOL care impacts caregivers because they are existential beings and the impending death of their parent disrupts established routines and can impact goals, values, beliefs, and roles. Wong and Tomer (2011) suggested research designed to explore death acceptance would add understanding to the mechanisms and pathways to positive outcomes. Therefore, using an existential framework to analyze adult child caregivers existential experience moves beyond a simple mechanistic depletion model because stress may relate to conflicts between freedom, responsibility, beliefs, religiosity, isolation, loss, and continued existence (survival). As a demonstration of the economy of design, if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter. Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun. Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. Thus, statistically higher occupancy percentage which the Ritz enjoys does not hold much importance and is irrelevant in the long run. However, when the researcher applied the quantitative technique to check the confidence interval for ADR of Ritz Carlton at 98% interval it resulted in an upper limit of US$207 which raises the bar US$40 when compared to Four Seasons figures for the last 3 years. Since the occupancy is same for both the hotels, market potential reveals that there is great scope to improve the revenues as it is done by Four Seasons. Higher occupancy is achieved due to demand in the market. Thus, reducing cost would only lead to reduction in prices which seems to be unviable option. 1.4.2.2 Increasing Price The researcher opines that by increasing prices a rise in the ADR can be achieved since it is a sum total of room revenue multiplied by occupancy %. However, while the prices are increased the existing guest may be resistance to pay the increased price with the same facilities provided by the hotel. Another potential issue with choosing this alternative of increasing prices would be the percentage by which the price rises are raised for the product.
