Essay On Ap Psychology
AP psychology was a class that I walked in not knowing what to expect; I was scared thinking that it would be too challenging for me, yet I proved
myself wrong. In my opinion, this is the first class to teach about "the real world", our society and what is happening to our/others mind and/or body. Ap
psychology should be taken by everyone who gets the chance to even if they believe it is too challenging for them, and even if it is. This class isn't
only about passing or getting a perfect grade is about learning how our mind thinks, and all the studies that come along to prove fact and theories. This
is a class where you learn and not memorize which are two very different things. The most important subject I learned in Psychology was about

English Class Reflective Report
This semester at Forsyth Tech, I am taking Psychology 118 along with English 111. I am required to write in both classes, and English 111 has
been more of a refresher course to me so that I can become a proficient writer in the future. Taking these classes together is given me the
opportunity to project what I have learned, to apply it to other writing assignments, and papers in Psychology, if need be. I have two mandatory
group essays in Psychology, but the majority of my assignments are entry journals. I was given directions in journal seven, to write an example of a
time that I was subject to a persuasion technique, and how I responded to it. English class has been beneficial, and the handbook has been very
convenient. I was able to reflect back to "Student's Book of College English", for in–work citations, to avoid plagiarism, as well as MLA format, even
though it's not mandatory in Psychology. Plus, I already have a good sense of detail and order in my writing, so the purpose and audience are clear.
Nonetheless, my English teacher has guided me through this course and is giving effective tips that are helping me boost my confidence... Show more

I stated in the second sentence of the introduction, " It seems like anywhere you go, stores are always asking if you want to apply for a credit line,
and if you are qualified, you could save a certain percent towards your total purchase (Fish)." It is very likely, in this day and time that most people
receive credit card applications in the mail, and retail shoppers are targeted on a daily basis to apply for them, too. Regrettably, I was persuaded to
apply for a credit card while checking out at a retail–clothing store, and I simply wanted to express, that it's not good to apply for just any credit card.
By all means, research and ask questions, so you don't find yourself maxing it out and paying a lot more in

I am a senior and Psychology major with a minor in neuroscience. I choose to major in Psychology because my favorite course while in high school
was Advanced Placement Psychology. I remember seating in class and thinking to myself, I think I found what I wanted to do for the rest for my life.
My primary area of interest within the field of psychology is neuropsychology. I love learning about people's behavior specifically, brain function in
relation to behavior. It is fascinating how something so small serves such an extremely important and vital role in our body and

Marcus Aurelius
"Hahaha, you have no friends!" Rings through my ears, as I hide seated at my desk, dogging the daggering stares. My fragile mind scorched by the
tormenting at recess – perched on the jungle gym, suffocated by the wild chanting orchestrated by my hunters howling indecencies about my clothes,
body and face. Some remember their childhood fondly I recall mine plagued with extreme insecurity, caused by the years of taunting inflicted by my
classmates. My hope–my horizon in the stormy wilderness, was the introduction of a Marcus Aurelius quote. Disclaimer: The above hyperbolized,
metaphorical events depict not only my hypersensitivity at that time, but are also imbed to reflect my current globalized perspective by creating humor
to emphasize my knowledge that my experiences weren't that tragic. Even though, being targeted by bullies is not catastrophic,... Show more content on

"The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it." –Marcus Aurelius This quote both comforted and enlightened me while I was being
bullied in middle school. My guidance counselor presented it to me and it has shifted my entire way of thinking. First, the idea that my agonizing
situation was not permanent, due to "the universe is change" really put my depression into perspective. It enabled me to look hopefully into the future
to a day where I would not be tormented at school. Thankfully, that day did come, but in my fragile, preteenager mind the months of bantering felt like
eternity. The second profound change that this quote illuminated for me was that I am the only person responsible for my life. I realized that my
thoughts are what shape my actions, which inevitably forms my life. At that time, thinking about the kids who bullied me as insecure rather than evil,
helped me forgive them for their immature

Lack Of Funding For Public Schools
We have seen the economy suffer due to financial problems over the last couple of years. The financial struggles are affecting more than just the
citizens of the United States but also the Public School system. "Americans have seen the economy slow significantly. Over the past 10 years, the
unemployment rate has more than doubled" (Sherk). "Many states reported limited and diminishing funds for public schools as a result" (Hungerford
and Wassmer). The lack of funding for public schools are requiring schools to redo thereeducation systems, and causing them to change curriculum.
The schools are trying to keep a well–rounded educations but are having a hard time keeping everything that they have had before. They are playing
the which class should we cut game and they all are deciding to keep the usual English, Math, Science and of course History. But, they are cutting the
music education program that has huge impacts on the students. Some schools are offering a small amount of music class but most of them ended up
cutting all of them as a whole. Music is not a cheap program for students to get involved in they have to purchase their own instruments and supplies
such as books, music and other supplies. When schools had budgets for their music education they supplied most of the tools needed for the students
needed to succeed. Now that there is no money in schools are relying on private donors. If a school still does not have enough money they are making
students either pay a

Advanced Placement Psychology
Why do you want to take Advanced Placement Psychology?
Psychology is the science behind the mind; the answer to every question one can have on the human mind and those inhabiting a brain. Psychology
is simply a course of answers that is proved by rock solid evidence and factual research. By taking this class, I am gaining answers for the various
questions I have asked. Simply put, I desire to have the knowledge others don't even consider and sometimes, even lack. Such as why we act the way
we do and what causes those reactions to take place. Answers to such questions reside in the field of psychology, the solution to all our questions
regarding ourselves.
Personally, I want to be able to apply my knowledge in psychology to everyday life.

Environmental Education At The School
While at the school, I got to try my hand at a variety of different things. Every day was different. In a classroom, you never know what is going to
happen and everyday something different is taught. I would go to the school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week from 12:00pm until 3:00pm.
On Mondays, I would go to two Kindergarten classrooms, Mrs. Markons and Mrs. Rolfes. In both classes, I helped with environmental education.
Somedays there was an Environmental Educator that would lead the class interactions and on other days it was up to the teacher and I to lead the
class interactions. Most days, if the weather was accommodating, the class would go out to the school forest to learn. Usually we would start with a
book inside and then outside we would relate the book to what we saw. We did a variety of different things from making animal houses, identifying
trees, using nature to spell and do math, making bunny restaurants, and using our senses to describe what we experienced. I typically, would be
assigned a group of about seven students. The students and I would go off into our own area of the woods and do the activity for the day. It was my
job to ask the students questions along with answering whatever questions they may have.
On Wednesdays, I would go to Mrs. Tamburro's art class with first graders and Mrs. Lampela's class of second graders. The rest of the time I would
help in the greenhouse keeping it maintained or assist the teachers with whatever they needed.

Personal Philosophy : My Educational Philosophy
When I first set out to write my educational philosophy, I had absolutely no idea what to write about, to be perfectly honest. So, I thought that I
would start with the most essential aspect of an educational philosophy: why do I want to become a teacher? The reason why I want to teach is
because I want to be able to impact young people's lives and help them to learn how to become successful citizens in our world. I feel that it is
important that no matter what students do with their lives, they are given a firm structure of practical life skills, so that they are set–up to be as
successful and productive as possible. I strive to be able to help students learn how to become consumers who make responsible choices. This involves
teaching the students how to build heathy relationships, make wise food choices, manage their money, and more. I feel that the purpose of education is
to help students become as well–prepared as possible for what the real world is like, as well as assisting them to discover what career path they want
to pursue so that they can achieve their personal goals. My role as an educator is to help students to develop crucial life skills and guide them to make
choices that will benefit them in the future.
I do not have a preference of what type of students I want to teach, nor what type of school settings: urban, suburban or rural; affluent schools as well
as low–income schools. I would really like to teach middle school students, because they are at a time

Psychology : The Psychology Of Psychology
This psychology class has further introduced me to two subfields of psychology that interest me. The first subfield is clinical psychology, which is "the
study of individuals, by observation or experimentation, with the intention of promoting change" (American Psychological Association, 2015). They
study different types of metal, emotional, and behavioral disorders from things as small and temporary such as school and work stress, to permanent
issues like schizophrenia and post–traumatic stress disorder. This particular section interests me because I find it interesting to learn about chronic
diseases. It intrigues me to learn how these diseases come about and what affects they have on an individuals' brain. For example, post–traumatic stress
disorder can completely change a person and their everyday life, almost controlling them. Another subfield of psychology that interests me is forensic
psychology. These psychologists "conduct evaluations that inform and guide legal proceedings" (American Psychological Association, 2015). The
cases they work on range from child abuse cases to the sanity of a defendant. Forensic psychologists "conduct research on the interface of law and
psychology", this being why it interests me since I am a criminal justice and psychology major (Myers & DeWall, 2014, p. C–3). The idea of being a
part of legal issues such as being a part of the deliberation by the jury or taking place in the consultation is something I would enjoy doing. The reason I

My Reflection Of Psychology And Career Development
After having taken this psychology career development course (PSY 3024), I've learned a lot about not only different psychology options, but also a
lot about myself. Having come into this course, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. I really just declared psychology as my major in the summer
before this semester. So, definitely my career plans have changed after taking this course. Psychology has many different subfields, ones I learned I
had no idea about prior to taking this course. For example, I learned about sports psychologists and how they assist athletes in different ways to
ultimately help them prevail. I learned about forensic psychologists and how they work with the judicial system and do many tasks, including helping ...

1. HS 200: Pre–Requisite Test #1
Overall I got an 8.5% on this Pre–Req Test
a. Strengths: I think my strengths were in the exercise and training program questions, the weight management and BMI questions, the questions on
basic nutrition concepts, and some of exercise science vocabulary questions. Even though I took HS200 a few years ago it was a class I did well in.
Also I took a few exercise science classes at my community college, and live an active lifestyle, so I think this helped me on this pre–req test
b. Weaknesses: I wasn 't familiar with certain vocabulary words like "progressive overload", and "resting metabolic rates". I additionally need to
review the American College of Sports Medicine's guidelines on the components of fitness, stretching, and the overall recommendations.
c. Specific Action Plan: In order to stay on track in this class I will need to be very familiar with the theories, vocabulary, guidelines, and overall
information I learned in my HS200 class. To be successful and learn new and more difficult material I will refer back to my binder and notecards
from HS2OO in order to refresh on this information. A study tool I used a lot during my Healthy Lifestyles class was a website called quizlet. It had
pre–made flashcards and activities that helped me master the new information, I will be using this website again. Many of the concepts learn in

Dangerous Minds: The Real Louanne Johnson
After watching the movie Dangerous Minds and reading the chapters from the Psychology Applied to Teaching 13th Edition textbook along with
some web sources, I found that analyzing and adjusting to what LouAnne Johnson was being exposed to probably be the strongest trait displayed
among others. What qualities in the movie Dangerous Minds made the teacher superior? The real LouAnne Johnson in a paper responded that "If
you believe you are superior to somebody and you are going to save them, they will resist you, even if they are drowning, if they didn't ask for your
help." What did make Ms. Johnson superior, however is the fact that she was white and probably middle class as opposed to her Hispanic and African

3) Another item mentioned would be how teachers with more training certified by their states were better than non–certified teachers. LouAnne
Johnson in the movie was certainly committed to her students learning after the first day she went home and analyzed the situation and adjusted herself
to intergrate herself to have their attention. She knew her subject which was English and how to teach it by making things relatable to the students'.
Johnson thought of a way to gain attention with candy for correct answers after that experience she continued to put incentives like a theme park trip
and a restaurant meal to students who flourished. When LouAnne Johnson was being interviewed for the teaching position she was found to be very
experienced, was fully accredited, but was missing one class which allowed to to complete her certification which she quit due to meeting her husband.
What qualities make teachers effective, according to online sources and what I gathered from the movie? I would say Johnson created a learning
environment when she was able to gain the students attention and motivate them to want to learn. A difference was accomplished because the students
wanted to learn and were upset upon hearing her plans to leave right after the school year ended, in which the students didn't

I had learning and soul searching to do before I could help anyone. I even had second thoughts about my major, until the professor told her story.
She'd come from different, but similar circumstances, and step by step described how she'd become a Licensed Independent Social Worker
(LISW), and what those credentials allow you to do. It was then I decided that was my ultimate goal. To achieve those credentials, which are two
years beyond a Master's Degree, and open a facility to help troubled teens. My next semester, I signed up for my internship at United Community
Services (UCS), a local Methadone clinic and drug treatment facility. It was unpaid, and a lot of hours, but during those hours I met so many good
people and learned so much. Before my internship, I didn't know much about Methadone, or the benefits it provided. It was just another drug that
had a bad reputation in society. I watched people come in off the streets desperate for a better way, a way free of dirty needles and expensive habits,
and I witnessed some of those people as they began to become happy, healthy, productive members of society again. One young girl stands out to me

could). She learned that Methadone is a safe option for pregnant mothers because the drug doesn't pass to

Psychology Class From High School Essay
When I started this class this pass September I had a little knowledge of psychology. In my junior year of high school I took Psychology as an
elective class. I really enjoy it alot, it amaze me how much there was to know about our brains. This September I came with the feeling that this
psychology class was going to be way different from my psychology class from high school. And that my knowledge from my class before wasn't
going to be useful at all. But I was wrong, this class has actually been better than my other class. Because it has help dust off some of the concepted
that I had learn before. But it has also made gain more knowledge about psychology that I didn't knew before. For example the next concepts are the
ones that had impacted me the most: critical thinking and the eight essential, implicit learning, short term and long term memories. I chose these concept
because they have not only taught me more about psychology, but they have made a big impact on me.
Critical thinking was the first concept that I was introduce too when I started the course back in September. I hardly remember it from my pass
psychology class so it was kind of new to me when I first started to learning about it. I thinking that why I chose it as one of my most important
concept, because it was what introduce me to the course. Critical thinking is the ability and willingness to assess claims and make objective judgement
on the base of supported evidence and not from emotions. I like it

Physical Psychology And Cross Cultural Psychology
This semester I was fortunate to volunteer at the Northern Virginia Family Services (NVAFS) head start school. NVAFS per
–school is a none profit
organization that helps families who cannot afford pre–school, and do not want their kids to be behind when starting kindergarten. The school is open
from 6am–7pm (can be modified) because the families work long hours because they are of low income or single mothers. What I got to do was teach
tennis to the kids and help out around the school. I was able to interact with the kids and their families. At NVVFS per–school I was not just able to
understand what I wanted to pursue in the future, but also able to use my knowledge from my psychology coursework at Gorge Mason University.
Two psychology coursework that helped me at NVAFS head start school this semester were abnormal psychology and cross–cultural psychology. At
NVFS I got to teach tennis and help around the school. I was able to meet a 5 year old child who was being observed because the school psychologist
believes he might have a learning disability and have ADHD. With the abnormal psychology I was able to see the symptoms he was demonstrating
that he might have a learning disability and ADHD. In my abnormal psychology class we learned that you cannot diagnosis a child as young as 4

Stereotypes About Feminism
For my experiential learning I went to a forum about feminism. At the forum, a group of students and faculty spoke about feminism and what feminism
is in their lives. The beginning of the forum started with the speakers talking about what feminism is. There are a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes
about feminism. The main stereotype that was brought to attention was what a feminist looks like. Feminist are typically thought of as women that
dress in androgynous clothing, don't shave, and have brightly colored hair. This is not a true representation of what a feminist looks like. In actuality
there is not a true representation of what a feminist looks like, because anyone can be a feminist. A feminist is a person who believes in equality for
men and women in all areas of life, anyone who agrees with that statement is a feminist. After explaining what a feminist looks like the speakers at our
forum allowed us to share our stories. I shared my story about how feminism changed my life with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social roles are a set of rules and structures that people in society fall under. Many social roles for women hinder them from achieving goals
outside of their social roles. Examples of these are the fact that women must get married and bear children while men go out and work. Ideologies
like this prevent women from going out and pursuing their dreams. These roles affect men too. Because traits like compassion and emotion are
considered as women traits, men are left unable to express themselves and their emotions in a healthy manner. This can lead to a long life of not
being able to express themselves and becoming abusive because of it. Breaking social roles are a large part of feminism because social roles do not
promote equality. The speakers at the forum mentioned that we should all personally try to ignore social roles and treat all humans

The Time Management Skills That Helped
The first thing that we did in this class that helped the most was creating a planner that included the dates given in all our class syllabuses. This helped
me the most since my math class has homework due twice each week, so having a planner allowed me to not confuse the idea that 2.1 is due on
Thursday instead of Tuesday. This also helped me with thinking about how much time I have until the next project is due. Other time management
skills that helped was goal setting and learning better study skills. The goal setting that helped was realizing what a SMART goal is; Specific,
Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant, and Timely. For this semester, I was able to realize that unlike High School where I could set a goal
of getting As and Bs, in college this is unrealistic. My new goal became that I would like to get a grade at or above a C+ and if my grade started
dropping before the end of the semester, I would ask the teacher about the topic I was not understanding before the test came. Getting help is also a
great study skill, which for myself involved going to Supplemental Instruction Tutoring sessions each week for Statistics, which involved a teachers'
assistant that went over harder topics such as Z–tables vs. T–tables. This made my test grades increase and the SIT session also applies to outside of
class resources that we learned about in this class. The activity of a treasure hunt for those resources especially helped since I had not known were the

Research Is A Key Piece Of What Psychology Is All About Essay
Homework #1
Research is a key piece of what psychology is all about. Publishing research in psychology journals is the leading way to share your findings and
help grow our field. So, throughout the semester I will be encouraging you all to reach out and read what's going on out there in the wonderful field of
psychology! Through these homework assignments, I am hoping you will leave the class with the skills to find peer–reviewed articles, properly cite
them in APA format, and think critically about what they are telling you– each of these skills will help you succeed in future courses and research.
Instructions
Find a scientific research article published in a peer reviewed journal that is related to a topic from chapters 1–3. Make sure that for the article you
select you are able to access the FULL paper and not just the abstract. Using UH's resources (see below for instructions), you will NOT have to pay for
articles.
Read the article. You don't need to spend too much time reading it, just briefly read through the whole thing. It is 100% okay if you don't understand
parts of it – that is part of the learning process! Just try to pin point at least a few places that you did understand.
Based on your reading, fill out homework sheet.
Remember, we will be running these through databases to ensure that your writing is original. DON'T PLAGARIZE! Use your own words! Even
when talking about someone else's research, you should describe what they did in your own way and with

Career Academy Research Paper
I feel like the Career Academy classes definitely did a very good job of introducing us into what college is going to be like. Especially with the
deadline on Sunday nights. With normal high school classes, you are able to push things off and not do them and then also turn them in late and still
receive credit. This caused me to really learn how to use my time more wisely and not give up any extra time that I have. It also gave me a much
better perspective on what working with an online teacher is really about. I know that next year I will be taking more college classes on line so this class
helped me to know what I will need to do for next year.
This course level was for sure harder than most of my other classes. I think I found it harder because if I had a question about something I could not

point, so being able to be right up and close with the whole process what a great experience for me.
If I had to change one thing it would be that there was not so many little assignments that really did not have to deal with the course. Other than that, I
do not think that I would really change anything. I enjoyed how there was deadlines on Sunday nights because that made me work on it over the
weekend not procrastinate anything.

I've learned new things I've never thought about before, but the details really do make sense. I've just never put the two things together to make
complete sense. Human development will give you a different viewpoint on life because you'll be able to communicate better with others, reach
people on an emotional level and even develop better relationships with people of all ages. Children are a big part of development and
understanding how they grow and do what they do will better prepare you for having children. I have a better source of knowledge about all life
stages and really understand what people are going through because I know what developmental issues they may be having. Knowing what others
are going through, I'll have a greater appreciation and compassion for them. In any field of work, its important to have compassion for others and

Reflection Paper On Psychology And Psychology
For my final project, I interviewed a professional with PhD in Psychology. However, the person I interviewed did not pursue a psychology job

dedication towards the Psychology field. Before summarizing the interview, I also decided to ask my Aunt, who graduated with her Bachelor 's degree
in Psychology in Minnesota State University, Mankato.
During the interview with my Aunt, I asked what she wanted to do and why she did not pursue Psychology any further. Her response was
shocking yet understanding. Due to giving birth to her first son in college, her mindset and vision of the future changed. She responded, "I wanted
to become a Clinical Psychologist. However, in the long run, it wouldn 't had been worth pursuing the Psychology field when you have a child

Psychology Personal Statement
When I decided to go back to college my first thought was to major in Psychology and become a Drug Addiction Counselor. Once enrolled into my
first semester of classes that decision changed, not because I did not like or was not interested in psychology. My goals for my future changed
because of the time frame and the job availability for this field. I learned that most of the jobs available in this field required a PHD, I still feel that
psychology should be required for every field of study.
Psychology teaches us how the mind works and gives a better understanding on how to interact with other people. Knowing how to interact with the
people in your work environment and profession is very important not only at the beginning of a job but throughout the entirety of it. Having
psychology as a requirement for every field of study will help in how we handle people in general. There are many different reactions to situations,
each person handles things differently. Having a better understanding of this will make work and personal life easier.
Intro to Psychology is on my list of required classes, but that is not the only reason why I am taking it. I have always been very interested in how the
mind works, why we do the things we do, mental illness, addiction, our memory, and much more. Our memory is something I knew little about, and it
actually fascinated me. I have never been good at answering the question of "what did you do all day", because in actuality the list goes on.

Personal Reflection Of Psychology
After taking a psychology class, I learned about how to manage your life more carefully. This is because psychology consist of memory, stress,
problem solving, sleep, and how the brain develops and manages the body system. Psychology increased my motivational level when approaching a
task and guided with helpful tips to build on my existing knowledge. I set my goals clear so that they are directly related to the task that I need to
accomplish and after I accomplish those goals, I reward myself for the job well done. Psychology applies to my everyday life now because I focus my
attention on the material that I am studying. Attention is one of the major components of memory. I learned that in order to change from short–term to
long–term, I will need to actively attend to this information. Psychology increased my self–understanding and insight in life. Because I took a
psychology course, I learned that psychological assessments gave me a better knowledge of myself and understand my true self.
I will use psychology in my personal life by managing my stress and maintaining a great sleep cycle. This will help me in my personal life because
before, I did not realize that I have been hurting myself by not taking care of myself. Also, when I learned more about the psychology, I started to gain
more knowledge to keep myself healthy. When I am studying unfamiliar material, I will take the time to think about how this information relates to
things that I already know by establishing

Learning Journal Survey: Social Psychology
The class I had chosen for my learning journal survey was Social Psychology, I was only enrolled in psychology classes this semester, while some
questions in the survey did apply to my class, I did feel that my answers to some questions would have changed if it corresponded to another class. At
the beginning of the class I found myself overwhelmed but the amount of classes I had enrolled myself in. As the course went on, I found myself
understanding the lectures but when I had to study for an exam or a quiz I found it quite hard to keep myself focused and concentrated on what I had
learning. I was very stressed throughout most of this semester, not only by school but also with life and stressful situations I was dealing with. After

We learned some meditation techniques through an app and some breathing exercises to help de–stress ourselves. This is an important skill to attain in
life, meditation allows you to sleep better, have less stress due to lower cortisol levels and reduces anxiety, allows for a better memory, more
happiness, activates both the left and right hemispheres in your brain which leads to faster learning and more creativity. All of these great benefits
that come from meditation allow for a better learning, motivation, memory and achievement. If meditation can reduce stress and anxiety it can
allow for you to focus better in class and on the tasks assigned. Not only more sleep, but a deeper sleep can allow for you to be attentive and able to
keep memories in long term, it would allow you to recall information previously learned a lot better. Not to mention since sleep can affect your mood
and meditation brings on happiness it could create for higher motivations and a desire to achieve goals. Most people use one side of their brain more
than the other, this creates an imbalance, by meditation you would then be allowed to create a balance and use both hemispheres. Both hemispheres
are quite different too; the left would carry reasoning, logic, and be ruled by facts, whereas the right is creative, imaginative, and

Future Abnormal Psychology Class
To all future Abnormal Psychology students, Professor Lamorte is very straight to the point with his lecture and you will definitely find this class
interesting if you enjoy learning about abnormal behaviors and abnormal mental disorders. The class runs very smoothly with a power point
presentation about designated chapters, and most of the time the professor does the talking. I suggest you pay attention to specific examples being
said by students and the professor, just in case you may want to use them as reference on your exam. This will only apply if you decide to take the
take home open ended exam rather than the 50 multiple choice in class version. This class is extremely entertaining in the sense that you will not get
bored. Professor Lamorte always pairs his lectures with very interesting videos that supplement the academic lecture, and I must say that he is very
good at making sure that these videos will captivate your imagination with all the new and interesting knowledge being presented. Another thing that
I'm sure you all will enjoy about this class is that he has a great sense of humor, and he always tries to bring laughter to the class. It seems that
laughing can be a medicine, and Professor Lamorte seems to always use comedy and laughter to make the best out of a situation. For example, he
may use standup comedy to portray some behaviors associated with specific disorders and create a more positive and pleasant approach to such.
Also, the kinds of videos he will show in class are very good so that you get an idea of the kinds of people and cases you will be dealing with. It
provides you with enough material to decide whether or not abnormal psychology is something you want to pursuit further. It exposes you to situations
that will allow you to have insight on what is like to be a therapist dealing with different types of clients.
A mistake that I personally made during the semester was to take the multiple choice version of the test, even when I was aware that I don't do well
in multiple choice exams. One of the advantages of taking this course with Professor Lamorte is that he gives you the option to pick between a
multiple choice exam and an open ended take home essay exam. If you consider

Personal Reflection : What I Learned About The Brain
This semester I learned so much. I had never taken any class like this before so it was all new. I learned all about the brain and how it works. We
started with psychology in general and what it is. Then we learned a lot about the brain and what is inside. For example, the hypothalamus is in
charge of regulating the body's temperature and thirst and hunger. This was interesting to see everything that is involved in our everyday life. While
learning about this we watched the video on Phineas Gage, which was very interesting to hear about. I also thought the eye was cool to learn about. I
never knew that the image we see is flipped. We then moved onto the ear and other senses. Sleep was the only subject I already knew a little bit about.
Even then I learned new things like, at the end of NREM–3 is when children wet their bed. Then we moved on to drugs, a lot of them I had never heard
of so it was nice to learn more about them. After that we did learning and memory. These two sections were full of a lot of interesting information. We
learned about everything from conditioning and punishment to how the brain processes information. Thinking was kind of like learning and memory.
Then we did motivation with all of the different types of drives and and needs the body has. We then moved to development. This showed up has the
brain changes as people grow up. Also we learned a lot about what influences a child as they grow into an adult. I never realized how much information

Most of my teaching experiences consist of teaching children from ages 3 to 8 at numerous summer camps during my high school years. Many
things I have taught were based on general knowledge, such as teaching children how to play soccer and how to make a stuffed animal with an old
pair of socks. Such topics never required a thorough background research or a specific knowledge on children's development. Yet, my active
interactions and attention were always in need considering the children's age and the nature of the topics being taught. The two major obstacles I had to
overcome–and sometimes, I am still struggling with–was to properly motivate and to discipline them. Through this course, I have learned different
methods of motivating students... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, curiosity and desire for explorations are necessary for situational interest to develop into a long–term interest (Woolfolk et al., 2017, p. 420). It
introduces the importance of answering "curiosity questions", a part of Renninger's four–phase model of interest. Curiosity questions can be any
questions that help us organize our knowledge about a topic. It also introduces George Lowenstein's theory that explains how curiosity arises when
attention is focused on a gap in knowledge. This is similar to Piaget's disequilibrium theory, where learners achieve knowledge (or equilibrium)
through confusion and frustration from a gap in knowledge. Both theories inspired me to prepare curiosity questions before classes. For example,
questions, such as "Has anyone heard of the word 'Psychology'?" or "What do you know about psychology?" can be great starters on the first day of
introduction psychology class. It also gave me an idea to make cumulative lesson plans so the knowledge gap becomes automatic. For example, what is
learned in the previous lesson–what psychology is–can provide a certain amount of information, yet not enough to answer the question of the next
class–how psychology can apply in our daily life

Washburn Interview
The faculty member I have chosen to interview for this assignment is Dr. RaLynn Schmalzried who is both a member of the Department of
Psychology and the professor of my Psychology 100 class. Since the first day of class, Psychology 100 has been a fun and increasingly interesting
experience, to the extent that it has made me interested in getting a minor in Psychology. I was intrigued by her perspective on how students could be
successful in school and in life. When it came to deciding who to interview for this assignment it was not hard to decide that I wanted to interview her.
I wanted to make sure that I covered a broad area of topics with the questions I asked so as to not make the interview seem too serious. Listed below
are the questions.

said that she enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, and raising her daughter which has recently been taking up most of her time. The thing she said that she
remembered most vividly from college was the time when her friends and her made a giant scrabble board out of the tiled floor in the laundry room of

Reflection Paper On Field Experience
Introduction I believe that doing field experience is very beneficial to students prior to starting the education program, it can help them see what
it's like to be a teacher, and even get some experience in a classroom. Completing 20 hours in a classroom, you get to see how you connect to
students, what it will be like after you become a teacher, and even help you decide if this is right for you. After my experiences, I learned a lot about
my placement school, how what we learned in this class can be really beneficial, and how being in a classroom/becoming a teacher will affect me.
Centennial Arts Academy This semester, I did my 20 observation hours at Centennial Arts Academy with Ms. C. The school is located in Gainesville,
Georgia and is apart of the Gainesville City School system. The school focuses on "Arts Integrated Learning with a focus on Performance Arts"
(Gainesville City School System [GCSS], 2017). They care greatly about their students and want them all to do well. Each day, at the Centennial Arts
Academy they help the students strive to achieve the Four R's. "The Four R's are ready, respectful, responsible, and role model" (GCSS, 2017). The
school demographics are much different than most schools in Gainesville. This school in particular is a little more than 50% hispanic. As of the
2014–2015 school years there were "488 hispanics in the school out of 960 total students" (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2014). As

Personal Reflection In Psychology
I consider myself someone who values the question "why?". My entire life I have caught myself questioning things that others never really seemed to
care to think about, about a multitude of subjects. Specifically, asking those close to me like my parents, siblings, friends, and now my husband.
Leaning this semester about Psychology has been very interesting to me because it had helped me understand the "why" behind the way the brain
works. In this class, Lifespan Growth and Development, I have learned about concepts that I will be able to carry with me throughout my college
education, my professional career, my marriage, and my eventual parenthood as a mother. One of the topics I learned about that intrigued me the
most, was about Jean Piaget and his work. I think this is because the concepts that were learned in this class over Piaget's studies relate to multiple
chapters in a person's life, so it was easy to connect back with and understand. It was easy for me to understand the "why" because I was able to
relate it back to Piaget's study. Piaget was a psychologist who focused on the "qualitative changes" that occur in a child's "mode of thought" (Crandell,
Human Development). He studied that a child's biological growth combined with the interactions of their environment led to specific stages that would
take place at different ages in one's life. This is especially interesting to me as an adult now because even though I don't have children, I have friends

Reflection Of A Self-Evaluation On Your True Self
This course has changed me in so many ways over the past semester, ways as far as my procrastination and how it's not good to procrastinate, and
me not feeling embarrassed to actually talk about that and say that out loud because I wasn't the only one in class to raise my hand in doing things at
a pace and my time and not always on time. In this course I have learned so much about myself as well the other people in the classroom in different
ways, more so than I ever thought I would, and with this knowledge comes a great responsibility. This class has basically taught me a self–evaluation
on myself, now I know that sounds weird and unusual of how you can do a self–evaluation on your true self, because you are yourself but when this
class first started I only expected to learn the very basics of psychology like the different approaches of psychology like behaviorism, and humanism.
Not only did I learn about the essentials of psychology, but I also learned a great deal about myself and my past life experiences. This class has forced
me to look deep within myself and confront my psychological demons as far as what am I doing wrong within myself and what do I need to work to
get better at.
I also learned that many people within the United States rather if they are us as citizens or not are still human and that they go through the same
psychological problems rather if that's internally, and externally and don't even know it. We are very smart and clever as human beings and have

In order to totally comprehend psychology, one must first go back into its history and explore its origins. A question that I asked myself and became
informed of throughout the course of this semester is: "How did the studies of Psychology originate? What period was Psychology created?" Because
I was able to question myself, I became more involved and interesting not only in Psychology 445, but the overall studies of Psychology.
As I answered these questions, I realized that Psychology involves a massive range of topics; alongside, examining the human's developmental patterns
and mental practices from cultural level to neural level. Interestingly, I learned that Speech Pathologists study the same materials as Psychologists. For
example, both patricians must know matters pertaining to human mental concerns. These issues can begin right from delivery and endure up until the
death of the person. Through the knowledge developed in Psychology 445, I will be able to better comprehend how the individual topics are studied
and what has been taught thus far.

The Facts About How We Adapt Essay
The Facts About How We Adapt Psychology, the study of human behavior and mental processes, is a social science that use principles and theories to
help people and psychologists understand ourselves and others. Psychology helps people figure out why they are the way they are, and why things
happen the way they do. Psychology was created in 1879 by Wilhelm Wundt, but has psychological thoughts and traces from as far back as over 2,ooo
years ago. Psychology gives reason to things that happen that cannot be seen or measured. Psychology, in other terms, helps us understand human
behavior and how internal or external forces affect our behavior. One psychological theory that attempts to explain why humans are the way they are is
functionalism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was diagnosed with depression, and was sent to a hospital for suicidal thoughts, depression, anorexia, and suicidal attempts. After I left the hospital,
my dad changed me schools, and that's when I moved to Pioneer.
Functionalism played a huge role in my life at that point in time, because there were so many things I had to do that I hadn't done before. I had
never been the new student anywhere. I had went to the same school, in the same corporation since I started school. I was out of school for two
weeks, so I had to learn how to handle and do all of the homework that I got when I first got there. I hadn't been in school for 2 weeks, so I was
behind and had to catch up on 2 weeks worth of lessons. I didn't know anyone at Pioneer, so I had to make all new friends. I had to figure out how
to fit in. Most importantly, I had to learn how to have time management skills, with having a new combination of things I had to do: go to counseling
two times a week, do homework, hang out with friends, and study. For someone who didn't care about grades or my performance in school prior to the
incident I had, this was a big change.
Being a functionalist for me was when I had to make all new friends, after going to school for years, always being around the same people I've been
around since kindergarten. I had to adapt by catching myself up to where my classmates were at, with no help. I had to adapt by managing my time
properly. I had to adapt from going to a

Mathematical Psychology
Mathematical psychology is it a real subject? Yes it is I was even a little skeptical of this in the beginning but after even a little research I really became
convinced that using mathematics in psychology can improve the understanding of the brain and how it works. Mathematical psychology is when you
study behavior through mathematical concepts this will allow for more quantifiable data to check and verify the results. Another way to look at it is
trying to use statistics and mathematical formulas to predict behaviors. Scientist and mathematicians use formulas and laws to assist in their studies
and this will allow them to justify the information that they receive from the studies that they are conducting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

articles on both sides of the argument concerning math in psychology, some of the harshest criticism that was published had to do with the
application of math as it applied when practicing psychology to a patient. This to me was not relative because the primary use of math in psychology

Transgender Children Sociology
If I had to pick a concept that was most interesting, I would choose gender differences. The video we watched about transgender kids was very
eye–opening and educational; I never realized there were transgender kids who were so young. The idea that gender dysphoria is a result of our
society was something I had never considered before; learning about the group in Africa that has a 3rd 'gender' of feminine males made me feel like
we as a society try too hard to put everyone into boxes, and that's why transgender children grow up feeling like freaks. The video we watched also
showed what a huge difference having a loving, supporting family has; the kids whose parents made them hide it seemed miserable, whereas Jazz

because everything was pretty common sense, and I don't feel like I learned anything. This topic did, however, require us to set goals for ourselves
which has helped me stick to studying for my classes. This reflection has made me realize that I haven't reached all my goals and knowing I set those

Essay On Ap Psychology

  • 1. Essay On Ap Psychology AP psychology was a class that I walked in not knowing what to expect; I was scared thinking that it would be too challenging for me, yet I proved myself wrong. In my opinion, this is the first class to teach about "the real world", our society and what is happening to our/others mind and/or body. Ap psychology should be taken by everyone who gets the chance to even if they believe it is too challenging for them, and even if it is. This class isn't only about passing or getting a perfect grade is about learning how our mind thinks, and all the studies that come along to prove fact and theories. This is a class where you learn and not memorize which are two very different things. The most important subject I learned in Psychology was about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. English Class Reflective Report This semester at Forsyth Tech, I am taking Psychology 118 along with English 111. I am required to write in both classes, and English 111 has been more of a refresher course to me so that I can become a proficient writer in the future. Taking these classes together is given me the opportunity to project what I have learned, to apply it to other writing assignments, and papers in Psychology, if need be. I have two mandatory group essays in Psychology, but the majority of my assignments are entry journals. I was given directions in journal seven, to write an example of a time that I was subject to a persuasion technique, and how I responded to it. English class has been beneficial, and the handbook has been very convenient. I was able to reflect back to "Student's Book of College English", for in–work citations, to avoid plagiarism, as well as MLA format, even though it's not mandatory in Psychology. Plus, I already have a good sense of detail and order in my writing, so the purpose and audience are clear. Nonetheless, my English teacher has guided me through this course and is giving effective tips that are helping me boost my confidence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I stated in the second sentence of the introduction, " It seems like anywhere you go, stores are always asking if you want to apply for a credit line, and if you are qualified, you could save a certain percent towards your total purchase (Fish)." It is very likely, in this day and time that most people receive credit card applications in the mail, and retail shoppers are targeted on a daily basis to apply for them, too. Regrettably, I was persuaded to apply for a credit card while checking out at a retail–clothing store, and I simply wanted to express, that it's not good to apply for just any credit card. By all means, research and ask questions, so you don't find yourself maxing it out and paying a lot more in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Advanced Placement Psychology Research Paper mom is more affectionate and I depend on her for warmth and love when I am going through tough times. My father is more logical and I depend on him when I need practical advice. I am a senior and Psychology major with a minor in neuroscience. I choose to major in Psychology because my favorite course while in high school was Advanced Placement Psychology. I remember seating in class and thinking to myself, I think I found what I wanted to do for the rest for my life. My primary area of interest within the field of psychology is neuropsychology. I love learning about people's behavior specifically, brain function in relation to behavior. It is fascinating how something so small serves such an extremely important and vital role in our body and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Marcus Aurelius "Hahaha, you have no friends!" Rings through my ears, as I hide seated at my desk, dogging the daggering stares. My fragile mind scorched by the tormenting at recess – perched on the jungle gym, suffocated by the wild chanting orchestrated by my hunters howling indecencies about my clothes, body and face. Some remember their childhood fondly I recall mine plagued with extreme insecurity, caused by the years of taunting inflicted by my classmates. My hope–my horizon in the stormy wilderness, was the introduction of a Marcus Aurelius quote. Disclaimer: The above hyperbolized, metaphorical events depict not only my hypersensitivity at that time, but are also imbed to reflect my current globalized perspective by creating humor to emphasize my knowledge that my experiences weren't that tragic. Even though, being targeted by bullies is not catastrophic,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it." –Marcus Aurelius This quote both comforted and enlightened me while I was being bullied in middle school. My guidance counselor presented it to me and it has shifted my entire way of thinking. First, the idea that my agonizing situation was not permanent, due to "the universe is change" really put my depression into perspective. It enabled me to look hopefully into the future to a day where I would not be tormented at school. Thankfully, that day did come, but in my fragile, preteenager mind the months of bantering felt like eternity. The second profound change that this quote illuminated for me was that I am the only person responsible for my life. I realized that my thoughts are what shape my actions, which inevitably forms my life. At that time, thinking about the kids who bullied me as insecure rather than evil, helped me forgive them for their immature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lack Of Funding For Public Schools We have seen the economy suffer due to financial problems over the last couple of years. The financial struggles are affecting more than just the citizens of the United States but also the Public School system. "Americans have seen the economy slow significantly. Over the past 10 years, the unemployment rate has more than doubled" (Sherk). "Many states reported limited and diminishing funds for public schools as a result" (Hungerford and Wassmer). The lack of funding for public schools are requiring schools to redo thereeducation systems, and causing them to change curriculum. The schools are trying to keep a well–rounded educations but are having a hard time keeping everything that they have had before. They are playing the which class should we cut game and they all are deciding to keep the usual English, Math, Science and of course History. But, they are cutting the music education program that has huge impacts on the students. Some schools are offering a small amount of music class but most of them ended up cutting all of them as a whole. Music is not a cheap program for students to get involved in they have to purchase their own instruments and supplies such as books, music and other supplies. When schools had budgets for their music education they supplied most of the tools needed for the students needed to succeed. Now that there is no money in schools are relying on private donors. If a school still does not have enough money they are making students either pay a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Advanced Placement Psychology Why do you want to take Advanced Placement Psychology? Psychology is the science behind the mind; the answer to every question one can have on the human mind and those inhabiting a brain. Psychology is simply a course of answers that is proved by rock solid evidence and factual research. By taking this class, I am gaining answers for the various questions I have asked. Simply put, I desire to have the knowledge others don't even consider and sometimes, even lack. Such as why we act the way we do and what causes those reactions to take place. Answers to such questions reside in the field of psychology, the solution to all our questions regarding ourselves. Personally, I want to be able to apply my knowledge in psychology to everyday life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Environmental Education At The School While at the school, I got to try my hand at a variety of different things. Every day was different. In a classroom, you never know what is going to happen and everyday something different is taught. I would go to the school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week from 12:00pm until 3:00pm. On Mondays, I would go to two Kindergarten classrooms, Mrs. Markons and Mrs. Rolfes. In both classes, I helped with environmental education. Somedays there was an Environmental Educator that would lead the class interactions and on other days it was up to the teacher and I to lead the class interactions. Most days, if the weather was accommodating, the class would go out to the school forest to learn. Usually we would start with a book inside and then outside we would relate the book to what we saw. We did a variety of different things from making animal houses, identifying trees, using nature to spell and do math, making bunny restaurants, and using our senses to describe what we experienced. I typically, would be assigned a group of about seven students. The students and I would go off into our own area of the woods and do the activity for the day. It was my job to ask the students questions along with answering whatever questions they may have. On Wednesdays, I would go to Mrs. Tamburro's art class with first graders and Mrs. Lampela's class of second graders. The rest of the time I would help in the greenhouse keeping it maintained or assist the teachers with whatever they needed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Personal Philosophy : My Educational Philosophy When I first set out to write my educational philosophy, I had absolutely no idea what to write about, to be perfectly honest. So, I thought that I would start with the most essential aspect of an educational philosophy: why do I want to become a teacher? The reason why I want to teach is because I want to be able to impact young people's lives and help them to learn how to become successful citizens in our world. I feel that it is important that no matter what students do with their lives, they are given a firm structure of practical life skills, so that they are set–up to be as successful and productive as possible. I strive to be able to help students learn how to become consumers who make responsible choices. This involves teaching the students how to build heathy relationships, make wise food choices, manage their money, and more. I feel that the purpose of education is to help students become as well–prepared as possible for what the real world is like, as well as assisting them to discover what career path they want to pursue so that they can achieve their personal goals. My role as an educator is to help students to develop crucial life skills and guide them to make choices that will benefit them in the future. I do not have a preference of what type of students I want to teach, nor what type of school settings: urban, suburban or rural; affluent schools as well as low–income schools. I would really like to teach middle school students, because they are at a time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Psychology : The Psychology Of Psychology This psychology class has further introduced me to two subfields of psychology that interest me. The first subfield is clinical psychology, which is "the study of individuals, by observation or experimentation, with the intention of promoting change" (American Psychological Association, 2015). They study different types of metal, emotional, and behavioral disorders from things as small and temporary such as school and work stress, to permanent issues like schizophrenia and post–traumatic stress disorder. This particular section interests me because I find it interesting to learn about chronic diseases. It intrigues me to learn how these diseases come about and what affects they have on an individuals' brain. For example, post–traumatic stress disorder can completely change a person and their everyday life, almost controlling them. Another subfield of psychology that interests me is forensic psychology. These psychologists "conduct evaluations that inform and guide legal proceedings" (American Psychological Association, 2015). The cases they work on range from child abuse cases to the sanity of a defendant. Forensic psychologists "conduct research on the interface of law and psychology", this being why it interests me since I am a criminal justice and psychology major (Myers & DeWall, 2014, p. C–3). The idea of being a part of legal issues such as being a part of the deliberation by the jury or taking place in the consultation is something I would enjoy doing. The reason I ... • 10. My Reflection Of Psychology And Career Development After having taken this psychology career development course (PSY 3024), I've learned a lot about not only different psychology options, but also a lot about myself. Having come into this course, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. I really just declared psychology as my major in the summer before this semester. So, definitely my career plans have changed after taking this course. Psychology has many different subfields, ones I learned I had no idea about prior to taking this course. For example, I learned about sports psychologists and how they assist athletes in different ways to ultimately help them prevail. I learned about forensic psychologists and how they work with the judicial system and do many tasks, including helping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He firstly explained to me that becoming a neuropsychologist is realistic and attainable, however it is many years of hard work. He graduated with a BS in Psychology and hadn't planned on going to graduate school. He then tried numerous types of different works like working in a senior home care facility where he was unhappy. He jumped from different jobs until he eventually went to graduate school and got a MA and PsyD inClinical Psychology. He didn't get board certified until 7 years later when he ultimately started to work in neuro and became co–owner of his own consultants practice. He recommended to me that if I already know what I want, then to find a program in neuropsychology (R. Cohen, personal communication, November 16, 2017). The goal itself is attainable, but it's important not to waste time fiddling with other jobs. In terms of realistic, he said, to "think about the quality of life." Strengths: I think my strengths were in the exercise and training program questions, the weight management and BMI questions, the questions on basic nutrition concepts, and some of exercise science vocabulary questions. Even though I took HS200 a few years ago it was a class I did well in. Also I took a few exercise science classes at my community college, and live an active lifestyle, so I think this helped me on this pre–req test b. Weaknesses: I wasn 't familiar with certain vocabulary words like "progressive overload", and "resting metabolic rates". I additionally need to review the American College of Sports Medicine's guidelines on the components of fitness, stretching, and the overall recommendations. c. Specific Action Plan: In order to stay on track in this class I will need to be very familiar with the theories, vocabulary, guidelines, and overall information I learned in my HS200 class. To be successful and learn new and more difficult material I will refer back to my binder and notecards from HS2OO in order to refresh on this information. A study tool I used a lot during my Healthy Lifestyles class was a website called quizlet. Dangerous Minds: The Real Louanne Johnson After watching the movie Dangerous Minds and reading the chapters from the Psychology Applied to Teaching 13th Edition textbook along with some web sources, I found that analyzing and adjusting to what LouAnne Johnson was being exposed to probably be the strongest trait displayed among others. What qualities in the movie Dangerous Minds made the teacher superior? The real LouAnne Johnson in a paper responded that "If you believe you are superior to somebody and you are going to save them, they will resist you, even if they are drowning, if they didn't ask for your help." LouAnne Johnson in the movie was certainly committed to her students learning after the first day she went home and analyzed the situation and adjusted herself to intergrate herself to have their attention. She knew her subject which was English and how to teach it by making things relatable to the students'. Johnson thought of a way to gain attention with candy for correct answers after that experience she continued to put incentives like a theme park trip and a restaurant meal to students who flourished. When LouAnne Johnson was being interviewed for the teaching position she was found to be very experienced, was fully accredited, but was missing one class which allowed to to complete her certification which she quit due to meeting her husband. What qualities make teachers effective, according to online sources and what I gathered from the movie? I would say Johnson created a learning environment when she was able to gain the students attention and motivate them to want to learn. A difference was accomplished because the students wanted to learn and were upset upon hearing her plans to leave right after the school year ended, in which the students didn't ... She'd come from different, but similar circumstances, and step by step described how she'd become a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), and what those credentials allow you to do. It was then I decided that was my ultimate goal. To achieve those credentials, which are two years beyond a Master's Degree, and open a facility to help troubled teens. My next semester, I signed up for my internship at United Community Services (UCS), a local Methadone clinic and drug treatment facility. It was unpaid, and a lot of hours, but during those hours I met so many good people and learned so much. Before my internship, I didn't know much about Methadone, or the benefits it provided. It was just another drug that had a bad reputation in society. I watched people come in off the streets desperate for a better way, a way free of dirty needles and expensive habits, and I witnessed some of those people as they began to become happy, healthy, productive members of society again. One young girl stands out to me above all the rest, she came in pregnant and addicted to opioids. She'd heard a rumor that she shouldn't stop because it could hurt the baby (which it could). • 14. Psychology Class From High School Essay When I started this class this pass September I had a little knowledge of psychology. In my junior year of high school I took Psychology as an elective class. I really enjoy it alot, it amaze me how much there was to know about our brains. This September I came with the feeling that this psychology class was going to be way different from my psychology class from high school. And that my knowledge from my class before wasn't going to be useful at all. But I was wrong, this class has actually been better than my other class. Because it has help dust off some of the concepted that I had learn before. But it has also made gain more knowledge about psychology that I didn't knew before. For example the next concepts are the ones that had impacted me the most: critical thinking and the eight essential, implicit learning, short term and long term memories. I chose these concept because they have not only taught me more about psychology, but they have made a big impact on me. Critical thinking was the first concept that I was introduce too when I started the course back in September. I hardly remember it from my pass psychology class so it was kind of new to me when I first started to learning about it. I thinking that why I chose it as one of my most important concept, because it was what introduce me to the course. Critical thinking is the ability and willingness to assess claims and make objective judgement on the base of supported evidence and not from emotions. I like it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

NVAFS per –school is a none profit organization that helps families who cannot afford pre–school, and do not want their kids to be behind when starting kindergarten. The school is open from 6am–7pm (can be modified) because the families work long hours because they are of low income or single mothers. What I got to do was teach tennis to the kids and help out around the school. I was able to interact with the kids and their families. At NVVFS per–school I was not just able to understand what I wanted to pursue in the future, but also able to use my knowledge from my psychology coursework at Gorge Mason University. Two psychology coursework that helped me at NVAFS head start school this semester were abnormal psychology and cross–cultural psychology. At NVFS I got to teach tennis and help around the school. I was able to meet a 5 year old child who was being observed because the school psychologist believes he might have a learning disability and have ADHD. With the abnormal psychology I was able to see the symptoms he was demonstrating that he might have a learning disability and ADHD. • 16. Stereotypes About Feminism For my experiential learning I went to a forum about feminism. At the forum, a group of students and faculty spoke about feminism and what feminism is in their lives. The beginning of the forum started with the speakers talking about what feminism is. There are a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes about feminism. The main stereotype that was brought to attention was what a feminist looks like. Feminist are typically thought of as women that dress in androgynous clothing, don't shave, and have brightly colored hair. This is not a true representation of what a feminist looks like. In actuality there is not a true representation of what a feminist looks like, because anyone can be a feminist. A feminist is a person who believes in equality for men and women in all areas of life, anyone who agrees with that statement is a feminist. After explaining what a feminist looks like the speakers at our forum allowed us to share our stories. I shared my story about how feminism changed my life with ... Many social roles for women hinder them from achieving goals outside of their social roles. Examples of these are the fact that women must get married and bear children while men go out and work. Because traits like compassion and emotion are considered as women traits, men are left unable to express themselves and their emotions in a healthy manner. This can lead to a long life of not being able to express themselves and becoming abusive because of it. This helped me the most since my math class has homework due twice each week, so having a planner allowed me to not confuse the idea that 2.1 is due on Thursday instead of Tuesday. This also helped me with thinking about how much time I have until the next project is due. Other time management skills that helped was goal setting and learning better study skills. The goal setting that helped was realizing what a SMART goal is; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant, and Timely. For this semester, I was able to realize that unlike High School where I could set a goal of getting As and Bs, in college this is unrealistic. My new goal became that I would like to get a grade at or above a C+ and if my grade started dropping before the end of the semester, I would ask the teacher about the topic I was not understanding before the test came. Getting help is also a great study skill, which for myself involved going to Supplemental Instruction Tutoring sessions each week for Statistics, which involved a teachers' assistant that went over harder topics such as Z–tables vs. T–tables. This made my test grades increase and the SIT session also applies to outside of class resources that we learned about in this class. The activity of a treasure hunt for those resources especially helped since I had not known were the write cite was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Publishing research in psychology journals is the leading way to share your findings and help grow our field. So, throughout the semester I will be encouraging you all to reach out and read what's going on out there in the wonderful field of psychology! Through these homework assignments, I am hoping you will leave the class with the skills to find peer–reviewed articles, properly cite them in APA format, and think critically about what they are telling you– each of these skills will help you succeed in future courses and research. Make sure that for the article you select you are able to access the FULL paper and not just the abstract. Using UH's resources (see below for instructions), you will NOT have to pay for articles. Read the article. You don't need to spend too much time reading it, just briefly read through the whole thing. It is 100% okay if you don't understand parts of it – that is part of the learning process! Just try to pin point at least a few places that you did understand. Based on your reading, fill out homework sheet. Remember, we will be running these through databases to ensure that your writing is original. DON'T PLAGARIZE! Use your own words! • 20. Career Academy Research Paper I feel like the Career Academy classes definitely did a very good job of introducing us into what college is going to be like. Especially with the deadline on Sunday nights. With normal high school classes, you are able to push things off and not do them and then also turn them in late and still receive credit. This caused me to really learn how to use my time more wisely and not give up any extra time that I have. It also gave me a much better perspective on what working with an online teacher is really about. I know that next year I will be taking more college classes on line so this class helped me to know what I will need to do for next year. This course level was for sure harder than most of my other classes. I think I found it harder because if I had a question about something I could not just go and ask Rachel, I had to send and email and then wait for her to reply. If I had to change one thing it would be that there was not so many little assignments that really did not have to deal with the course. Other than that, I do not think that I would really change anything. I enjoyed how there was deadlines on Sunday nights because that made me work on it over the weekend not procrastinate anything. Before summarizing the interview, I also decided to ask my Aunt, who graduated with her Bachelor 's degree in Psychology in Minnesota State University, Mankato. During the interview with my Aunt, I asked what she wanted to do and why she did not pursue Psychology any further. Her response was shocking yet understanding. Once enrolled into my first semester of classes that decision changed, not because I did not like or was not interested in psychology. My goals for my future changed because of the time frame and the job availability for this field. I learned that most of the jobs available in this field required a PHD, I still feel that psychology should be required for every field of study. Psychology teaches us how the mind works and gives a better understanding on how to interact with other people. Knowing how to interact with the people in your work environment and profession is very important not only at the beginning of a job but throughout the entirety of it. Having psychology as a requirement for every field of study will help in how we handle people in general. There are many different reactions to situations, each person handles things differently. Having a better understanding of this will make work and personal life easier. Intro to Psychology is on my list of required classes, but that is not the only reason why I am taking it. I have always been very interested in how the mind works, why we do the things we do, mental illness, addiction, our memory, and much more. • 27. Future Abnormal Psychology Class To all future Abnormal Psychology students, Professor Lamorte is very straight to the point with his lecture and you will definitely find this class interesting if you enjoy learning about abnormal behaviors and abnormal mental disorders. The class runs very smoothly with a power point presentation about designated chapters, and most of the time the professor does the talking. I suggest you pay attention to specific examples being said by students and the professor, just in case you may want to use them as reference on your exam. This will only apply if you decide to take the take home open ended exam rather than the 50 multiple choice in class version. This class is extremely entertaining in the sense that you will not get bored. Professor Lamorte always pairs his lectures with very interesting videos that supplement the academic lecture, and I must say that he is very good at making sure that these videos will captivate your imagination with all the new and interesting knowledge being presented. Another thing that I'm sure you all will enjoy about this class is that he has a great sense of humor, and he always tries to bring laughter to the class. It seems that laughing can be a medicine, and Professor Lamorte seems to always use comedy and laughter to make the best out of a situation. For example, he may use standup comedy to portray some behaviors associated with specific disorders and create a more positive and pleasant approach to such. Also, the kinds of videos he will show in class are very good so that you get an idea of the kinds of people and cases you will be dealing with. It provides you with enough material to decide whether or not abnormal psychology is something you want to pursuit further. It exposes you to situations that will allow you to have insight on what is like to be a therapist dealing with different types of clients. A mistake that I personally made during the semester was to take the multiple choice version of the test, even when I was aware that I don't do well in multiple choice exams. • 28. Personal Reflection : What I Learned About The Brain This semester I learned so much. I had never taken any class like this before so it was all new. I learned all about the brain and how it works. We started with psychology in general and what it is. Then we learned a lot about the brain and what is inside. For example, the hypothalamus is in charge of regulating the body's temperature and thirst and hunger. This was interesting to see everything that is involved in our everyday life. While learning about this we watched the video on Phineas Gage, which was very interesting to hear about. I also thought the eye was cool to learn about. I never knew that the image we see is flipped. We then moved onto the ear and other senses. Sleep was the only subject I already knew a little bit about. Even then I learned new things like, at the end of NREM–3 is when children wet their bed. Then we moved on to drugs, a lot of them I had never heard of so it was nice to learn more about them. After that we did learning and memory. These two sections were full of a lot of interesting information. We learned about everything from conditioning and punishment to how the brain processes information. Thinking was kind of like learning and memory. Then we did motivation with all of the different types of drives and and needs the body has. We then moved to development. This showed up has the brain changes as people grow up. Many things I have taught were based on general knowledge, such as teaching children how to play soccer and how to make a stuffed animal with an old pair of socks. Such topics never required a thorough background research or a specific knowledge on children's development. Yet, my active interactions and attention were always in need considering the children's age and the nature of the topics being taught. Curiosity questions can be any questions that help us organize our knowledge about a topic. It also introduces George Lowenstein's theory that explains how curiosity arises when attention is focused on a gap in knowledge. This is similar to Piaget's disequilibrium theory, where learners achieve knowledge (or equilibrium) through confusion and frustration from a gap in knowledge. Both theories inspired me to prepare curiosity questions before classes. For example, questions, such as "Has anyone heard of the word 'Psychology'?" or "What do you know about psychology?" can be great starters on the first day of introduction psychology class. It also gave me an idea to make cumulative lesson plans so the knowledge gap becomes automatic. • 32. Personal Reflection In Psychology I consider myself someone who values the question "why?". My entire life I have caught myself questioning things that others never really seemed to care to think about, about a multitude of subjects. Specifically, asking those close to me like my parents, siblings, friends, and now my husband. Leaning this semester about Psychology has been very interesting to me because it had helped me understand the "why" behind the way the brain works. In this class, Lifespan Growth and Development, I have learned about concepts that I will be able to carry with me throughout my college education, my professional career, my marriage, and my eventual parenthood as a mother. One of the topics I learned about that intrigued me the most, was about Jean Piaget and his work. I think this is because the concepts that were learned in this class over Piaget's studies relate to multiple chapters in a person's life, so it was easy to connect back with and understand. It was easy for me to understand the "why" because I was able to relate it back to Piaget's study. Piaget was a psychologist who focused on the "qualitative changes" that occur in a child's "mode of thought" (Crandell, Human Development). He studied that a child's biological growth combined with the interactions of their environment led to specific stages that would take place at different ages in one's life.
