Teens Should Not Have Curfew Laws
Although some people may disagree, curfews for towns could be very inflicting on everyone. This
would ruin the freedom that teenagers may need. It could be disastrous if there was a curfew for
many towns and cities, it would most likely be even worse than before.
First and foremost, many teens are out at night doing things and going places. They deserve the
right to be able to be out at night and not have leave at a certain time. When the family or
community strictly imposes curfew law, kids are expected to observe it without question to avoid
punishment. This may be a very hard for some kids and it could just overall be a difficult thing to
obey by. Teenages should not have to worry about not getting to a certain place because of curfew.

This discriminates young individuals who may need to do extra work to support their family and
themselves. In the same way, authorities outright categorize those who do stay out beyond the
curfew limit as delinquents or violators. This would play a very important factor in why towns
should not have a curfew. It would not only be hurting one teen but many and their families.
In contrast, driving and hanging out during later night hours could put teens in risky situations.
Driving or traveling at night may impose greater dangers than traveling at daytime. In addition,
curfew keeps them away from temptations such as drug use, violent acts, heavy partying, and
alcohol intake. Which some of these could possibly reduce the risk of automobile accidents and
injuries that may result in that. They are both very different yet understandable points of views.
Even though there are the pros of town curfews, the cons can t be forgotten. The situations that
some teenagers and families may be in could contribute to them. It would be very dissatisfying if a
town around me started a late night

Hidden Figures Dorothy Byron Analysis
Dorothy Vaughn Dorothy Vaughn is known as NASA s first African American supervisor and
previously worked as a math teacher. Dorothy Vaughan unofficially supervised West Computing
to analyze data for aerospace engineers before being promoted as supervisor. Eventually, the
West Computing Wing would be abolished and replaced by higher technology from IBM to
calculate equations at a much faster rate. Thus, forced Vaughn to take the helm and find a new
way to provide jobs for the computers or women of color who computed data calculations for
NASA. From analyzing Hidden Figures, the movie recognizes the prejudice that black women of
that time have experienced in and out of the work place. Vaughn plays a very valuable role in
Hidden Figures as a motherly figure to not only her children but to black women whom she worked

spoke to Mary in a motherly tone. Later in the movie after Vaughn and her sons were kicked out
of the library for being black a police officer escorts them out of the building and she pointedly
states at scene 50:12 Get your hand off my boy. Don t touch them. You have a bless day . The

Although, when we are forced to face with such unlucky fate, we must make difficult decisions
and sacrifices. The director purposely made the film so sincere that this film could be ranked as
one of the very few movies guaranteed to make audiences cry! As audiences watch the film,
carefully selected cast members definitely make them feel as if they were part of the Vassilivea
Family and assure audiences could relate. As Anna, one of the main characters, puts it, I wasn t
the result of a cheap bottle of wine or a full moon or the heat of the moment. I was born because
a scientist managed to hook up my mother s eggs and my father s sperm to create a specific
combination of precious genetic material. Though we cannot afford to encounter genetically
engineered babies every day, doesn t mean we can t also experience the safe effects, that s why the
director produced this astonishing film using all of his talented skills.
PRODUCTION
It s a sad fact that innocent, great kids can get cancer, and few movies have really dug into this
tragic corner of life the way My Sister s Keeper does. But rather than search for any real emotional
truths or demand dynamic performances from its talented cast, the movie just hijacks your tear
ducts from the word go. Odds are you ll cry during this movie, but you might be too confused by the
time jumping narrative, too busy wondering how many pop song montages they

Piaget s Stages Of Cognitive Development
The Cognitive Development theory refers to the ability to learn through thinking and reasoning.
Theorist Jean Piaget developed the stages of cognitive development according to age and how
individuals learn through their environment and senses. Based on Education.com: Stages of
Cognitive Development (Driscoll/Nagel ,2008), these stages are from infant to teenage years
with specific abilities. The first stage of Piaget s stages of development is called Sensorimotor,
which starts at birth to two years of age. It describes how babies learn through their senses. The
next stages is known as Pre operational which are ages two through seven. During this stage, a
child uses his or her own logic to express thinking. From the seven to eleven years of age, a child
is in the Concrete Operational stage. He or she will use hands on experience to increase
knowledge. The final stage is Formal Operational. Between the ages of eleven and fifteen, an
adolescent develops a more abstract form of knowledge. One of the main differences between
these stages is object permanence. Piaget designed these stages in a rigid format. This theory does
not allow individual experience and background to be considered. In conclusion, a weakness of this
theory is that is doesn t mention how culture impacts learning. A strength of this theory is that it
acts as a guide for educators to provide variation while lesson planning. The video, The Word Wall,
showed children learning through the Cognitive Development

The Piano Lesson Essay
It s being here now that s important. There s no past and there s no future. Time is a very
misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can t
relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don t know if there is one. (George Harrison)
Although things can come from the past, they must be put to use in the know, and although we like
to plan for the future, we need to try and make an impact now. What George Harrison is trying to
say is that while it is nice to try to set things up for the future, we need to use what was given to us
from the past, to try and better the lives of other immediately. In The PianoLesson, by August
Wilson, the piano was the object from the past is being put to use now and his having a profound
impact. The piano is very important to Berniece s family, it is an irreplaceable item that is... Show

Berniece carries on this tradition and polishes the piano to keep it in the best condition possible,
recognizing how hard past generations worked to make the piano into what it is today. While
explaining the piano s history and addressing the problem over who has the right to possess the
piano, Doaker says, Now, that s how all that got started and that s why we say Berniece ain t
gonna sell that piano. Cause her daddy died over it. (46) The main reason for her family history
being connected to the piano is that Berniece s father was killed in the process of regaining
possession of the beloved piano. This elevates the role of the piano in Berniece s life because it
is the last thing her father had a connection to, and since he died over it, he too must have thought
it was a very important item. Overall, Berniece recognizes that her family worked hard and made
large sacrifices to get the piano to where it is

Exit Through The Gift Shop Essay
When watching movies, one can usually decipher what is fake and what is real, as well as, who
is acting and who is not. Whether that be through exaggerated effects, poor acting, or previous
knowledge, one can decide early on if the film being viewed is factual or fabricated. However, Exit
Through the Gift Shop, a filmdirected by street artist Banksy, has left many viewers unsure if the
film is an authentic documentary or merely a mockumentary. While some elements of the movie
contain truthful content, it can be concluded that the film as a whole is a mockumentary, and
just another one of Banksy s notorious pranks. One of the first giveaways that the film is fake is
by Thierry Guetta, the apparent Los Angeles filmmaker, who is the focal point of the entire
documentary. Guetta has a wife and children in Los Angeles that he leaves for long periods of
time over the course of many years. One would think that his would be struggling to make ends
meet on Guetta s virtually non existent salary. Guetta also had a very odd personality. With what
seemed like no care in the world, he was able to leave his family behind and take part in illegal
activity for years. Not only that, Guetta also was strangely obsessed with Banksy; many people
would have a starstruck... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Thierry was supposed to be the person who shot all the footage for the
documentary, yet half of the film was of Thierry. This can make viewers think that there is a film
crew that could be documenting Thierry, instead of Thierry being the sole director. Many scenes
also seemed like they were planned. The part of the film where Thierry spilled an entire can of
paint in his just seemed like a play on his clumsy, goofy character. It also seemed unrealistic for the
film to have captured his injury accident on film, yet the cameras just happened to be there. Many
parts of the film emitted the feeling that they were fake, almost

The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports
Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in
today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain
sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is
there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing
does no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health
Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the
body s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility
or skill (Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t
make the athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and
easier way to get an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete
getting big that makes them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them
better stronger and more competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is
illegal in major league, and worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage
on the users body. These effects include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver
tumors, stunted skeletal growth, hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side

Differences Between Countries And Developing Countries
Geographers like to differentiate countries by grouping them into developed and developing
countries. A developed country is a country that has progressed relatively far during time and has a
highly developed economy and advanced technological infrastructure. Some examples of developed
countries are the U.S.A, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Netherlands and many others. They
are normally the more profound countries that we hear about more often than developing countries.
A developing countryis a country that is at an early stage in economic development and has a less
developed industrial base, and a low Human Development Index(HDI). The Human Development
Index is a composite statistic of life expectancy, education, and income per capita indicators and is
used to rank countries into tiers of human development. Having a low HDI means the country has
a low life expectancy, a shorter length of education and the income per capita is lower. Some
examples of developing countries are Brazil, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan,
and many others. I plan to bring you into an in depth explanation about the many differences in
population studies between Japan and Brazil. First off, we ll start with a little bit of background
information on both countries. Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands in East Asia with a
population of 126,919,659 (July 2015). It has a land area of about 140,728 square miles and a total
area of about 145,913 square miles. It s area can

the most popular music is called Paraguayan Polka, and a popular dance called the Bottle Dance

called Paraguayan guarani also PYG. Three out of the many exports that they have are leather,
soybeans, and cotton. Their three leading imports are vehicles, consumer goods, and tobacco.
Over the past years the agriculture exports have increased especially with soybeans. In
conclusion, Paraguay has a lot of places to see like the Iguazu Falls, Itaipu Dam, and Grand
Chaco. The weather there is fairly decent, and most population is in the grassy areas, and the
Chaco region is one of the places most people don t live. They are their own cultural ways, and

Little Chinese Seamstress
In the novel Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Dai Sijie explores the power of literature and
the impact it has on the narrator. The narrator is forced to move to an isolated mountain village for

an imperious wave of his conductors baton he would tell me which way to go... After all, how
could I die now, without having known love or sex, without having taken free individual action
against the whole world, as he had (114). The novel Jean Christophe has certainly affected the
narrator greatly. The narrator has become so attached to the protagonist of this novel that he even
questions his own emotional state. The character Jean Christophe poses as a role model for the
narrator, and is his motivation for moving forward. The narrator sees himself as pitiful in

The Pros And Cons Of DNA Analyst
DNA analysts have been profiling DNA since 1985. Then in 1998, the Combined DNA Index

English III Honors Period 4 Prohibition Prohibition was the eighteenth amendment. It prohibited
the production and consumption of alcoholic beverages. People would have never thought of
excoriating alcohol until the 19th century (Tyrrell 16). During this time widespread crime and
dismay arose. Some beneficial things did come out of this period of chaos such as women were
able to prove themselves as people their temperance movements. During this time many things

This marked the end to a lengthy thirteen year period of the great experiment, which was
prohibition. When the Great Depression began people complained the prohibition took away jobs
and money for the government. At this period in time, people had little money or hope and alcohol
was a way out. In conclusion in an effort to limit crime, alcoholism, prostitution, and poverty the
United States government failed, but women had a chance to show their competency and their
ability to voice their opinions. Prohibition did indeed lead to the birth and growth of organized
crime. The great experiment that was prohibition did not accomplish its goals of solving the social
problems of America or eliminating alcohol consumption. But, it will always be remembered for
causing Americans to reflect on the effects of alcohol on society. Works Cited Coffey, Thomas M.

Quintus Horatius Flaccus
The poet Horace is how the English knew him, but his birth name is Quintus Horatius Flaccus,
he was born in Italy in the little town of Venusia near the border of Apulia and Luciana, whence
likes to describes himself as Lucanus an Apulus anceps man on December 8, 65 B.C. An
important difference to annotate is Horace s father was an Italian freedman (a former slave who
has been released from slavery), but he did not get to experience that life style. For he was born
free. Horace expresses how his father was a man of a few acres, but refuses to send him to the
local school where all the boys went instead he work hard to send him to the best and exclusive

Media Used In Mass Media
Many people in the mass media industry have used their platform in very different ways. The
ways people have used them , do vary because some mass media influencers use their platform
for good and some use it for bad. For example, In the Brian Williams case he used it for bad
because he lied to the people that looked up to him, or people that watched the news. Another
example would be when Jorge Ramos was kicked out of the press room for asking difficult question
to Donald Trump, but in this case it was different because he used mass media for good because he
was asking these questions for the people and for them to know, what was going on. Because if
not then who is going to ask them. Brian Williams used his platform in a bad way because he lied
to people which initially caused him to lose his job. He lied to people saying that he was there in
the helicopter during the Iraqinvasion. He clearly just wanted to make himself look good in front
of the public eye , so he made himself the hero of the story when he was obviously not. Jones
states that is why much of America, including myself, is having a hard time understanding how
NBC news anchor Brian Williams could possibly have misremembered whether he was actually

when there were multiple witnesses around to remind him of the truth of what happened that day .

The Effects Of Alcoholism On The Individual Health
When talking about alcoholism, we have to take into consideration all of the effects that the
alcohol use and misuse have, not only on the individual and its family but on the whole society
as well. More or less people drink because they want to socialize and some people drink because
they think that with the alcohol they will recover a solution or make their problems easier.
Alcohol can have big implications on the individual health. The individual that is an alcoholic or
that has alcohol related problems can be more prone to different diseases. If the alcohol is used
constantly for a long period of time it can harm not only the physical but the mental health as
well. The individual using alcohol can become aggressive and violent towards the family. The
household may also suffer not just physical but a mental abuse as well. The individual with an
alcohol related problem may start being absent from work more frequently, having a lack of
productivity, be more easily annoyed and begin arguing with coworkers or superiors. This may lead
to losing the occupation and create even bigger troubles with the family, friends, and the vicinity.
From this being said, there is a big burden on the society as well. All the injuries, violence that may
occur, traffic accidents, treatments, medical bills, changing policies, and so many other problems
that the society has to deal with. Every society, country, nation is different and unique. All of them

Othello, The Duchess Of Malfi, And Paradise Lost

Professor Earley
Final: Long Essay
While reading Othello, The Duchess of Malfi, and Paradise Lost there is a noticeable theme
throughout all of them. Throughout each of the three works there is at least one character that is
considered to be a villain. A villain is a cruel character whose evil actions and motives are
important to the main plot of the story. The three characters that are considered to be villains
include: Iago from Othello, Bosola from The Duchess of Malfi, and Satan from Paradise Lost.
In the play, Othello, written by William Shakespeare, the character that shows the most
characteristics of a villain is Iago. The downfall of Othello is caused by Iago who is a
manipulative liar. Iago is the main villain of the story and manipulates Othello and most of the
other characters. Iago s manipulative personality allows him to advance in his evil scheme
leading to Othello s downfall. Iago worked alongside Othello and Cassio, Othello s lieutenant,
for a long time and used his knowledge of their character to manipulate them. When Iago said,
And I of whom his eyes have seen the proof. At Rhodes, at Cyprus, and at other grounds he
claimed to have been witness to both Othello and Cassio s weaknesses (I.i.25 26). He knew that
he had the ability to manipulate them, and this foreshadowed his use of knowledge to ruin them.

The Call Os Guinness
In my reflection of The Call this week, if I were to sum it up in one word it would be
responsibility . If a call is to have any legitimacy it has to be saturated in integrity; integrity cannot
exist unless we are diligent in the responsibilities of that call.
Once your journey begins you become more and more visible to those around you; family, work
mates, church members, and neighbors. If we are to have any influence in the lives of those we
live among and mission, we MUST be responsible ministers.
We cannot live in fear of messing up but we should live as though it matters if we do. If mistakes
are or something does not turn out as planned, if we deal with it as responsible leaders ... Show

The first was the story of Arthur F Burns when asked to pray at the informal White house prayer
group, it was a classic. In this chapter, as he dealt with the responsibly we have to be Christians
out loud and on purpose, I loved the mention of the t shirt that said, Jesus, save me from your
followers . I have prayed that prayer a few times myself.
Courage and Calling Gordon T. Smith
As I read the first two chapters I could see a pattern of learning. The things discussed about life
long learning is a soap box I speak from myself. The way things change so fast; if you want to be
effective in many areas of ministry today you have to constantly learn. What we are doing in the
class in a testament to the desire we have to be equipped for the task set before us.
The following chapter shared how life teaches lessons as well. Sometimes these have a much great
price and toll on us, but ever experience is a lesson to teach and a testimony to share.
As Smith closes out his book he shares some sound information concerning we we flourish in our
ministry. A calling is sacred, the preparation for that calling in ministry is essential, but if I cannot
find a place to exercise my calling in the body of Christ I am likened to the unfaithful servant who

It was late evening when Humbert parked in front of the house. The real estate agent was waiting
for him on the lawn. Humbert got out of his car and walked over to the man. The dry ground
crunched as Humbert stepped on it. He also noticed that all the crickets sounded far away. The
whole place seemed kind of off and different than the rest of the nice town he had just driven
through.
Hello, I m Humbert Smith, he introduced himself to the real estate agent. Humbert glanced down at
the agent s name tag. In sloppy handwriting was written: Adam Chadwick. He was a bald,
overweight man with a red, sweaty face. He didn t strike Humbert as a very likable person.

took out his phone. He turned it on and put the brightness all the way up to one hundred percent.
He walked forwards through the doorway which Adam had gone. Every step he took creaked
loudly in the silence.
There are a lot of spiderwebs, aren t there, Humbert said to himself, shining the light around the
walls of the hallway. This house was old, but were there really this many spiders? Humbert found
a door that had recently been opened judging by the lack of dust on the handle. The door squeaked
open and Humbert shone the light from his phone inside. He was greeted with a horrible sight.
The room was huge; the biggest room in the house. The walls were draped with webs. Everywhere,
like giant sheets covering the room. There were thousands of bugs stuck inside of the layers of
webbing. That was disgusting in itself but what really horrified Humbert was something much
worse.
A giant spider was standing at the other end of the room. It was dark brown and was about the size
of Humbert s car. The arachnid clacked its mandibles and scuttled over to something. It was now

The Second World War is one of the most familiar wars to the everyday person because of its
massive effect on the global community s future. It is arguably the first and only total war in the
history of the war. Hew Strachan believes that it is because of its totality, which is seen through
all of the components and scale of World War II. His fellow historian Robert Messer agrees
saying That first truly global conflict mobilized economies and populations of the world on a
scale and degree that, if not total, was unprecedented in history. They both agree, that World War
II is the best example of total war for basically the same reasons, but Strachan will go more in
depth. While, Messer dives into the morality of dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. I will first review Strachan s essay and then will explain how Strachan and Messer
both agree that the Second World War was total in nature. First, we will examine Strachan s
essay, Total War . He gives a very good and detailed argument for how total war was perceived
before and after the war. He explains that total war was used before the war as a means to fully
mobilize a nation, but after the war it was used to describe the carnage inflicted on the enemy. This
argument gives total war two definitions, which may be fair, because how can something abstract
have a truly rigid definition. In reality, the combination of the two definitions lead to a viable
single definition of the process of total war.

Historical Allusion
We are all bits and pieces of history and literature and international law. Byron, Tom Paine,
Machiavelli, or Christ, it s here. (Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury page 152)
NiccolГІ di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat, a government official, a philosopher,
a humanist and an author during the Renaissances. Today, Machiavelli is known as the father of
modern political theory and these such theories are most conspicuous in his short book, The Prince .
The main objective as to why Machiavelli composed The Prince, was that he wanted a position
within the government, so he needed to win the support of Lorenzo de Medici who at this time was
the governor of Florence. Therefore, he dedicated this book which was a guideline for future
rulers about how an individual can acquire and maintain political power, to Medici thinking it
would give him the position of an advisor. However, when Medici read the book he perceived it
differently, so word got around that Machiavelli s book, The Prince was unethical and fiendish.
For the remaining fourteen years of his life he was criticized for his obscure ideas and died in
ignominy, but not once did he let societies teachings affect his beliefs. ... Show more content on

International Marketing Assignments
INTERNATIONAL MARKETING:
International marketing is the application of marketing principles to more than one country. The
intersection is the result of the process of internationalization. Many American and European
authors see international marketing as a simple extension of exporting, whereby the marketing mix
is simply adapted in some way to take into account differences in consumers and segments. It then
follows that global marketing takes a more standardized approach to world markets and focuses
upon sameness, in other words the similarities in consumers and segments. International market
goes beyond export marketer and become more involved in marketing environment in countries in

Assess Sociological Explanations of the Role of the Mass...
Assess sociological explanations of the role of the mass media in creating moral panics about
crime and deviance: A moral panic is the process of arousing social concern over an issue, this is
often an exaggerated over reaction by society to a perceived problem, which is usually driven or
inspired by the media. In this situation the reaction ends up amplifying the problem out of
proportion to its real seriousness. This creates anxiety amongst the general population, and this
therefore puts pressure on the agents of social control to deal with the problem, who then act
accordingly to the group responsible for the panic. There is a strong relationship between mass
media and crime. On average, around 30% of newspaper content is dedicated... Show more content

This creates public anxiety and puts a great deal of pressure on the authorities to stamp down on
the problem group and its rebellious activities. New laws, increased policing and severe
punishments are often a result of the media s coverage of the issue. Although, a self fulfilling
prophecy may develop as the group resists the attempts that are put in place to control it, this
leads to an increase in arrests and more reporting. A deviancy amplification spiral therefore
results, meaning that deviance could increase as a result of the moral panic. An early moral
panic involves Mods VS Rockers in 1964. Events that were actually just a few scuffles between
youths and vandalism were report in an exaggerated way. The media portrayed this event as a
Day of Terror and words such as Riots and battle were used. Cohen suggests over reporting of this
far outweighed the importance of the actual event. He argues that the media tapped into a social
consensus, that all the public shared concerns about the general decline in morality of the young
and the emergence of a strong youth culture. Consequently the two groups were perceived in a
stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi (1994) moral panics arise when society fails
to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For example, the first moral panics about youth
in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a distinctive consumer group with values,
norms of behaviour and

Prostitution
Prostitution is morally wrong and should be eradicated from society for several different reasons.
In prostitution, men remove women s humanity. Buying a woman in prostitution gives men the
power to turn women into a living breathing masturbation fantasy. He removes her and those
qualities that define her as an individual, and for him she becomes sexualized body parts. She acts
the part of the thing he wants her to be. As shocking as these men s observations may sound to
those who think prostitution is like the movie Pretty Woman, their descriptions closely match
women s descriptions of prostitution. The women explain to us how it feels to be treated like a

the case in the short story On The Rainy River written by Tim O Brien. Young Tim is drafted to

America that lasted from about 1750 to 1870. This period included philosophy, art, music, literature.
(https://www.bl.uk/romantics and victorians/articles/the romantics) Romantics believed that men
and women should not be guided by rules placed on them by society but led by warm emotions
that promoted a sense of freedom. William Blake was one of the poets that began the Romantic Age
who promoted self expression but was weighed down by the importance and standards of religion.
Literary work during Romanticism had a strong emphasis in implementing nature, emotion over
logic, imagination over reason, and no division between art and literature. These works placed
focus on human personality affected by political and social causes. These became dominant themes
in romantic poetry which made literature much more complex. In the late eighteenth and
nineteenth century, child labor in England was prominent after the Great Fire of London in 1666.
After this massive fire in London, chimneys had to be built slimmer due to new regulations to
keep the city safer. Chimney sweeping was done by poor boys at ages as young as four after they
were sold.

Patriarchy Of Ephesians
Often times, when the term Head is used in a marriage, such as, the husband is the head of the wife,
it stimulates the perception of the husbands being the dominate force in the relationship, having
authority, control, and power. However, Apostle Paul s message to the Ephesians was to institute
structure within a close and intimate union, or some form of social institution marking a
commitment between individuals to live as a family, which is recognized as a blueprint of Christ s
love for the church. That being said, there are three forms of social organization: A patriarchy,
which the father is the supreme authority. Matriarchy, is when the mother is the dominant authority.
Lastly, equalitarian family is one with shared control, with neither

Racial Disparities In America Essay
Introduction In today s society people are hurting and they are struggling to survive. The federal
minimum wage is $7.25, while each state within the United States provides its own minimum
wage. Low wages equals no healthcare, which in turn equal s to individuals being sick and not
being able to receive the help they need. Low wages also equals mass incarceration which in turn
equals to high crime. The high crime usually involves low income neighborhoods, which in more
than one way effects minorities.
The system has also privatized the school and prison system, which go hand in hand with the
economic reality of today. The racial disparities of today, was triggered by the downfall of the
economic system that is in place right now. Families are struggling and individuals are looking for
a way out. This paper will identify the realities African Americans face with the issue of economic
justice along in the United States.
Identity Crisis
The historical aspect of the civil rights movement was the tip of the iceberg of the social and
economic injustice of African Americans within the United States. From the 1900s to the late
1980s economic disparities existed between African Americans and other ethnicities. According to
Klarman (2004), many different sorts of factors political, economic, social, demographic,
ideological, international, and legal account for the transformation in American racial attitudes and
practices over time. As blacks moved from southern farms to northern

The Role Of Guilds In Medieval Europe
The role of guilds in Medieval Europe played a pivotal part in helping to form part of the
economic and social fabric in the middle ages. The guilds not only created a standard for
products, but also created a hierarchy of internal positions among the guild applying a sense of
order. These organizations performed a number of important services for the people of their town
which created a sense of unity and together ness. Consumers and members of the guild would also
be protected under a number of policies guaranteeing overall social happiness. Members of the
guild were placed in three levels, apprentice, journeymen or day worker and finally master.
Apprentices were usually a male teenager who had their parents pay to have him taken on and

Cerebral Vascular Accident

Unit 4 Capstone Project: Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA)
Kaplan University
08/03/2015
Cerebral Vascular Accident also known as a stroke, happens when the artery that supplies the
blood flow to your brain becomes substantially blocked or completely blocked ( Overview Stroke
Mayo Clinic, 2015). Without adequate blood supply the brain cells begin to die or become
damaged. It is very important to get medical assistance as soon as you think you may be having a
stroke, this will help lessen the damage done to the brain ( Overview Stroke Mayo Clinic, 2015).
The common cause of CVA/stroke is the hardening of the arteries wall, this allows fatty deposits
to form on the blood vessels causing damage to them, which can lead to clots forming in the blood
vessel( Stroke or Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA), 2015). CVA/stoke also can be caused by
bleeding in the brain or blood vessels busting as a result of high blood pressure ( Stroke or Cerebral
Vascular Accident (CVA),2015).
There are different types of stroke that a person can suffer from. One is called Ischemic Stroke,
this happens when arteries that go to the brain become small or blocked. Common types of
Ischemic stroke would be called Thrombotic stroke, when a blood clot is in one of the artery
leading to the brain and the other is Embolic stroke, this is when a clot or debris are formed in the
body and taken through the blood stream into a narrow

Synopsis Of The Summer Spring
Seasons
That time of year is here. The weather has begun to change from the blistering July heat, to the
cool evenings of September. There is no longer the need to flip channel after channel on the
television to find something to watch since it is finally football season. The vivid green leaves
are beginning to fade out and become different shades of brown, orange, and red. Leaves begin to
fall from the upmost branches of the tree and float their way down to the ground. Kids gather
around to collect the fallen leaves and jump into the enormous pile created by doing the chore of
raking. Taste buds begin to water as the thought of warm cider and sweet pumpkin pie comes into
the picture. The ladies begin to get out their favorite sweater, pair of jeans, and boots to wear out
as the cooler nights approach. While every season has its own sense of wonder, autumn is the best
one of them all.
The paramount of this season is the plethora of activities that go on in a short amount of time.
From the end of August to November, you can almost catch every high school kid on a Friday night
in a stadium decked out in latest costume related to that game s student section theme. Whether it s
a tacky tourist uniform or your American patriot, you can always see an eye catching outfit. After
their years of experience of high school football, the real test of dedication comes to the Saturday
games. Tailgating before the games is the excitement that brings everyone together. Leading into late

Community Ecology Lab
Ecosystem is made up of all populations living together and the physical factors with which they
interact with their environment. The ecosystem gets its energy from the only source, the sun,
which make it important. The sun plays significant roles in ecosystem functioning of
photosynthesis. In this lab, we will focus mostly on population and community ecology. Population
ecology is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same place at the same time.
Factors that affect the number of individuals living in a habitat are the population growth rate, size,
birth and death rates. Community ecology focuses on the interactions between organisms as to
preys and predators. These will lead to the causes that affect animals population; including... Show

Sargeant Reynolds. We explored and observed the different types of plants and animals in the forest
that make up the ecosystem. We found a diversity of plants and animals: millipede (apheloria
virginiensis), Darkling beetle, pine cone, northern pin, holly tree, and turkey tail fungus. (trametes
versicolor) Records were kept of the presence and absence of different species. Not all of the
species of interest were found during the observing time. The time and day that we did the
observation is also the cause of the absences of certain animals.
Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is to analyse and explain how the ecosystem work in our community. How
birth and death rates have impact on the living population. If the rate of the bug eating bird grow
larger then the population of the insects will decline. Discussion:
Food web is a network of food chains with a number of feeding connections amongst different
organism of a biotic community. The food chain starts from decayed plants and animals to the
micro organisms and then to detritus feeding organism and to other predator. There are three
trophic levels. Starting with producers, consumers, and decomposers. Plants such as holly leaves
and pine trees are types of producer that make their own food through photosynthesis and do not
depend on any other organism for nutrition. Millipedes and darkling beetles are in the next trophic

Summary Of Climate Change And Moral Judgement By Ezra...
After reading Ezra M. Markowitz Climate Change and moral Judgement I was able to look at the
issue of why most people don t understand why global warming is happening differently. I think the
mane point or question that the author Ezra M. Markowitz is trying to answer in his essay titled
Climate Change and moral Judgement is how some many people cant see the dangers of climate
changeeven though it is happening right in front of them. Ezra M. Markowitz makes this statement
at the beginning of his essay Converging evidence from the behavioral and brain sciences suggests
that the human moral judgement system is not well equipped to identify climatechange a complex,

Although climate change is the direct result of intentional, goal directed behavior some example
of the goal based behavior is driving everywhere when you could possibly walk to the place that
you are trying to go, another example of this kind of behavior is the amount energy that the
normal person use in order to live a modern life when they could simply cut back on this energy
usage and change up their life style but most people don t want to do that. After reading this essay
couple of question come to mind the first question that I would want to ask the author Ezra M.
Markowitz is how does he think we need to go about changing how people feel about climate
change/global warming? I think Ezra M. Markowitz would answer my question by saying that we
must teach people about what happens every time that they decide to do something that can be
harmful for the environment we have to come up with a way to educate people to make smarter
decision when it comes to climate change and there day to day activities. Another question that I
would want to Ezra M. Markowitz is does he ever see a time in the future where all humans see
climate change as a problem and decided that its time to fix it before it is to late? I think Ezra M.
Markowitz would answer this question by saying no I think humans are going to always deal with
these issue because they don t want to give up some of the things that they consider to allow them
to live a simple life. I enjoyed

Analysis Of The Health Care Industry
The health care industry has the highest percentage of occupational hazards of any workforce
industry (SIC division structure, 2015). To control these numbers, several state and federal
agencies were established to regulate risks to health and personal safety. (OSHA) is one such
agency was established to cover all workforce industries, including healthservices and insurance.
The regulatory authority of OSHA is ranged to cover many types of occupational hazards and
hazard communication. OSHA procedures are intended to be carried out quickly and decisively in
order to ensure and maintain the safest possible working environment and to expose and halt any

A Brooklyn medical facility experienced OSHA firsthand as they were investigated in 2014 for
failing to adequately protect against workplace violence. During their investigation, OSHA found
that between the dates of February 7th and April 12, 2014, around 40 individual incidents of
workplace violence had occurred, the most serious of which resulted in brain injuries sustained by
a nurse who was attacked by a patient. All of the incidents involved staff members being verbally
and physically attacked by patients and visitors, or staff members being injured when breaking up
fights between patients. A witness for the investigation stated that the administration was aware of
the violence and threats, but did nothing to improve the effectiveness of its ineffective workplace
violence program or to increase security for employees. The medical center was found to have
committed willful violation of OSHA workplace safety regulation and fined $78,000. The medical
facility was given fifteen days after receiving the

Physical and occupational therapists have the opportunity to improve someone s life. Even
though both jobs are improving someone s life, they treat each patient s individual problems
differently and with various techniques. Physical and occupational therapists do not only need to
know how to treat the patient s problem, but they need to be able to work around schedules and
understand the problems the patient is facing. Both jobs need to be able to relate to the patient on
a personal level making a huge difference in their life whether it is a small step such as hold a

The Movie Nightcrawler
The movie Nightcrawler is a film that depicts a man that is a fast thinking, hard negotiating,
never give up, criminal. This criminal, Lou, is bold enough to steal goods and then ask for a job
while selling the goods he stole. His greatest desire is build a career for himself and learn a trade
so that he can own his own company. Lou witnesses a horrific car crash where the car caught on
fire and sees a videographer come in and video the scene and sell it. The videographer, Joe, tells
him that he can sell the video to highest bidder and that it would be a top story on the news. Lou
was intrigued and asked if Joe had a job, which he did not, and when Lou saw the work on the news
he was convinced this was his new career.
Lou steals a high end bike and trades up at a pawn shop for a video camera and a police scanner. His
first story is a carjacking story where he was able to get up close footage. Nina, the director of
news, was very interested in his footage for the pure graphic nature of it and that it was related to
crime. After she buys that footage from him, she gives him advice about what their particular news
channel is all about. She tells him that crime in a specific location are of interest to her, not the
urban areas but more about the crime that is overflowing into the suburbs. She tells Lou that it
would be better if the perpetrators are minority and that the victims are white. She tells him that not

Types Of Occupations Within The Workplace Essay
Often in the world there are jobs that come across as rather boring or tedious to complete day in
and day out. However, it is a must to keep these jobs as they allow us to provide basic needs for
ourselves in life. Some types of occupations consist of a specialised job, with this, the five core
job characteristics derived from the job characteristics model also apply to these jobs. Furthermore,
the five job features are known to be skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and
feedback, each having their own importance. By identifying the characteristics, three redesigning
techniques can be implemented being establishing client relationships which are, combining tasks,
establishing client relationships and vertically loading the job. The specialised job holds the job
characteristics and can be redesigned as well to improve on some of those five task features.
Mortgage brokers are known to have very demanding jobs with having to settle deals involving
different types of investment properties, providing home loan services and organise large
amounts of documents. However, a mortgage broker may take upon a business intern or
administrator which is a specialised job, these individuals look after their documents and organise
all their client files. A specialised job can be further defined as a job composed of a small part of a
larger task or process (Williams McWilliams 2014, p. 156). A business intern seems like a fancy

Compare And Contrast Sonnet 60 And 64
Sonnets 60 and 64 are about the effects of time. This is a recurrent theme in Shakespeare s
poems. Through the use of imagery, Shakespeare provides relatable experiences to describe the
passage of time. Sonnet 60 provides three examples of the passage of time the first is waves
moving towards a shore, the second is a child growing to maturity, and the third is time s effects on
the beauty of youth. Sonnet 64 provides three of Shakespeare s personal experiences the first is
time s effects on towers and brass, the second is the ocean and a shore, the third is the change of
condition of things. Both sonnets have similarities and differences in themes, structure, and speech
acts.
Sonnets 60 and 64 have a similar theme of Time destroying things and eventually taking his love
away. The difference is that sonnet 60 has a more hopeful ending than sonnet 64. In the couplet of
sonnet 60 Shakespeare has hope that his verse will stand against time and the poem ... Show more

In both sonnets the word confound is used to describe the actions of Time. This word in both
sonnets express the destructive nature of Time. Also, in sonnet 64 there is a sonic pattern. 10 of
the 14 lines end with a word that contains a long a sound for example: defaced, age, razed, rage,
gain, main, state, decay, ruminate, and away. This repetition could symbolize that Time s effects
are constant. The poem also ends with the word lose so this could mean Time s effects are
constant until the thing it is effecting is lost. There is one subject per quatrain in sonnet 60. In
quatrain one the subject is waves, quatrain two the subject is nativity, and in quatrain three the
subject is Time. In sonnet 64 there is only one main subject and verb which is I and the verb is
Seen . However, in the couplet of sonnet 64 the subject is ambiguous. It could be the thought or
death that is doing the action of weeping for something that it will

Who Is Chris Mccandless In Into The Wild
Spiritually connecting with oneself is a difficult and honorable journey. The complexities of
achieving our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless
succeeded at this. Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer proved that he was
searching for his purpose in life, which manifested into his hypocritical and ignorant attitude. First
of all, Christopher McCandlessexploited his ignorance when blaming his parents during his journey,
even though Chris resembled their tactics. Chris s justification for his venture into the wildwas
because of his parents nature, Both Father and Son were stubborn and high strung... Given Walt s

This natural ability should have been a blessing, but McCandless grew up shaming these
materialistic values. To certain extent, Chris is correct, but his disrespect for authority was
unexcusable. For example, when working at Mcdonalds an employee said, ...the first thing he d do
is peel those socks off...kind of like a statement (400). Not only is
McCandless joining the capitalist society (that he loathed) but he is also disrespectful to the
managers of an establishment. McCandless disregard for authority exposes his ignorance and
inability to operate with others. Another instance in which McCandless was hypocritical is when
he claims a revelation in his journal, HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED (189).
Throughout the whole book McCandless keeps people at a distance (Westerberg, Franz, Burres),
but only comes to appreciate others when he s at a state of imminent death. Only at a critical time
of his journey could he discover his reason for venturing off into the wild. This reverent realization
evokes sympathy from the audience about McCandless death, but should rather expose his
hypocritical nature.
Only few people in their lives will reach a level of self actualization.

  • 2. Teens Should Not Have Curfew Laws Although some people may disagree, curfews for towns could be very inflicting on everyone. This would ruin the freedom that teenagers may need. It could be disastrous if there was a curfew for many towns and cities, it would most likely be even worse than before. First and foremost, many teens are out at night doing things and going places. They deserve the right to be able to be out at night and not have leave at a certain time. When the family or community strictly imposes curfew law, kids are expected to observe it without question to avoid punishment. This may be a very hard for some kids and it could just overall be a difficult thing to obey by. Teenages should not have to worry about not getting to a certain place because of curfew. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This discriminates young individuals who may need to do extra work to support their family and themselves. In the same way, authorities outright categorize those who do stay out beyond the curfew limit as delinquents or violators. This would play a very important factor in why towns should not have a curfew. It would not only be hurting one teen but many and their families. In contrast, driving and hanging out during later night hours could put teens in risky situations. Driving or traveling at night may impose greater dangers than traveling at daytime. In addition, curfew keeps them away from temptations such as drug use, violent acts, heavy partying, and alcohol intake. Which some of these could possibly reduce the risk of automobile accidents and injuries that may result in that. They are both very different yet understandable points of views. Even though there are the pros of town curfews, the cons can t be forgotten. The situations that some teenagers and families may be in could contribute to them. It would be very dissatisfying if a town around me started a late night ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hidden Figures Dorothy Byron Analysis Dorothy Vaughn Dorothy Vaughn is known as NASA s first African American supervisor and previously worked as a math teacher. Dorothy Vaughan unofficially supervised West Computing to analyze data for aerospace engineers before being promoted as supervisor. Eventually, the West Computing Wing would be abolished and replaced by higher technology from IBM to calculate equations at a much faster rate. Thus, forced Vaughn to take the helm and find a new way to provide jobs for the computers or women of color who computed data calculations for NASA. From analyzing Hidden Figures, the movie recognizes the prejudice that black women of that time have experienced in and out of the work place. Vaughn plays a very valuable role in Hidden Figures as a motherly figure to not only her children but to black women whom she worked with.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the movie we see that Vaughn was fixing the car and gives Katherine and Mary rides to and from work. In the movie during scene 28:12 Vaughn says to Mary Get you damn feet off my dashboard. This ain t your livin room , during this scene we see that Vaughn spoke to Mary in a motherly tone. Later in the movie after Vaughn and her sons were kicked out of the library for being black a police officer escorts them out of the building and she pointedly states at scene 50:12 Get your hand off my boy. Don t touch them. You have a bless day . The similarity between these two statements shows that Vaughn does play a motherly figure towards the women she works ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Sister s Keeper My Sister s Keeper Based on the book by Jodi Picoult ACKNOWLEDGEMENT First and foremost, we would all like to thank the Man with the Big guns from above named God. We thank you the most for without you we would never be able to do the things we love in life. We would never be able to see and feel the great wonders of the world that you have made for us especially the friendship and love that you never fail to provide us. Thank you for that. To our teacher we thank you for giving us a chance to show you what we can do. Although, when we are forced to face with such unlucky fate, we must make difficult decisions and sacrifices. The director purposely made the film so sincere that this film could be ranked as one of the very few movies guaranteed to make audiences cry! As audiences watch the film, carefully selected cast members definitely make them feel as if they were part of the Vassilivea Family and assure audiences could relate. As Anna, one of the main characters, puts it, I wasn t the result of a cheap bottle of wine or a full moon or the heat of the moment. I was born because a scientist managed to hook up my mother s eggs and my father s sperm to create a specific combination of precious genetic material. Though we cannot afford to encounter genetically engineered babies every day, doesn t mean we can t also experience the safe effects, that s why the director produced this astonishing film using all of his talented skills. PRODUCTION It s a sad fact that innocent, great kids can get cancer, and few movies have really dug into this tragic corner of life the way My Sister s Keeper does. But rather than search for any real emotional truths or demand dynamic performances from its talented cast, the movie just hijacks your tear ducts from the word go. Odds are you ll cry during this movie, but you might be too confused by the time jumping narrative, too busy wondering how many pop song montages they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Piaget s Stages Of Cognitive Development The Cognitive Development theory refers to the ability to learn through thinking and reasoning. Theorist Jean Piaget developed the stages of cognitive development according to age and how individuals learn through their environment and senses. Based on Education.com: Stages of Cognitive Development (Driscoll/Nagel ,2008), these stages are from infant to teenage years with specific abilities. The first stage of Piaget s stages of development is called Sensorimotor, which starts at birth to two years of age. It describes how babies learn through their senses. The next stages is known as Pre operational which are ages two through seven. During this stage, a child uses his or her own logic to express thinking. From the seven to eleven years of age, a child is in the Concrete Operational stage. He or she will use hands on experience to increase knowledge. The final stage is Formal Operational. Between the ages of eleven and fifteen, an adolescent develops a more abstract form of knowledge. One of the main differences between these stages is object permanence. Piaget designed these stages in a rigid format. This theory does not allow individual experience and background to be considered. In conclusion, a weakness of this theory is that is doesn t mention how culture impacts learning. A strength of this theory is that it acts as a guide for educators to provide variation while lesson planning. The video, The Word Wall, showed children learning through the Cognitive Development ... • 6. The Piano Lesson Essay It s being here now that s important. There s no past and there s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can t relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don t know if there is one. (George Harrison) Although things can come from the past, they must be put to use in the know, and although we like to plan for the future, we need to try and make an impact now. What George Harrison is trying to say is that while it is nice to try to set things up for the future, we need to use what was given to us from the past, to try and better the lives of other immediately. In The PianoLesson, by August Wilson, the piano was the object from the past is being put to use now and his having a profound impact. Berniece carries on this tradition and polishes the piano to keep it in the best condition possible, recognizing how hard past generations worked to make the piano into what it is today. While explaining the piano s history and addressing the problem over who has the right to possess the piano, Doaker says, Now, that s how all that got started and that s why we say Berniece ain t gonna sell that piano. Cause her daddy died over it. (46) The main reason for her family history being connected to the piano is that Berniece s father was killed in the process of regaining possession of the beloved piano. This elevates the role of the piano in Berniece s life because it is the last thing her father had a connection to, and since he died over it, he too must have thought it was a very important item. Overall, Berniece recognizes that her family worked hard and made large sacrifices to get the piano to where it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Exit Through The Gift Shop Essay When watching movies, one can usually decipher what is fake and what is real, as well as, who is acting and who is not. Whether that be through exaggerated effects, poor acting, or previous knowledge, one can decide early on if the film being viewed is factual or fabricated. However, Exit Through the Gift Shop, a filmdirected by street artist Banksy, has left many viewers unsure if the film is an authentic documentary or merely a mockumentary. While some elements of the movie contain truthful content, it can be concluded that the film as a whole is a mockumentary, and just another one of Banksy s notorious pranks. One of the first giveaways that the film is fake is by Thierry Guetta, the apparent Los Angeles filmmaker, who is the focal point of the entire documentary. Guetta has a wife and children in Los Angeles that he leaves for long periods of time over the course of many years. One would think that his would be struggling to make ends meet on Guetta s virtually non existent salary. Guetta also had a very odd personality. With what seemed like no care in the world, he was able to leave his family behind and take part in illegal activity for years. Not only that, Guetta also was strangely obsessed with Banksy; many people would have a starstruck... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Thierry was supposed to be the person who shot all the footage for the documentary, yet half of the film was of Thierry. This can make viewers think that there is a film crew that could be documenting Thierry, instead of Thierry being the sole director. Many scenes also seemed like they were planned. The part of the film where Thierry spilled an entire can of paint in his just seemed like a play on his clumsy, goofy character. It also seemed unrealistic for the film to have captured his injury accident on film, yet the cameras just happened to be there. Many parts of the film emitted the feeling that they were fake, almost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing does no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the body s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility or skill (Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t make the athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and easier way to get an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete getting big that makes them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them better stronger and more competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is illegal in major league, and worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage on the users body. These effects include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver tumors, stunted skeletal growth, hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side ... • 10. Differences Between Countries And Developing Countries Geographers like to differentiate countries by grouping them into developed and developing countries. A developed country is a country that has progressed relatively far during time and has a highly developed economy and advanced technological infrastructure. Some examples of developed countries are the U.S.A, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Netherlands and many others. They are normally the more profound countries that we hear about more often than developing countries. A developing countryis a country that is at an early stage in economic development and has a less developed industrial base, and a low Human Development Index(HDI). The Human Development Index is a composite statistic of life expectancy, education, and income per capita indicators and is used to rank countries into tiers of human development. Having a low HDI means the country has a low life expectancy, a shorter length of education and the income per capita is lower. Some examples of developing countries are Brazil, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan, and many others. I plan to bring you into an in depth explanation about the many differences in population studies between Japan and Brazil. First off, we ll start with a little bit of background information on both countries. Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands in East Asia with a population of 126,919,659 (July 2015). It has a land area of about 140,728 square miles and a total area of about 145,913 square miles. It s area can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ways people have used them , do vary because some mass media influencers use their platform for good and some use it for bad. For example, In the Brian Williams case he used it for bad because he lied to the people that looked up to him, or people that watched the news. Another example would be when Jorge Ramos was kicked out of the press room for asking difficult question to Donald Trump, but in this case it was different because he used mass media for good because he was asking these questions for the people and for them to know, what was going on. Because if not then who is going to ask them. Brian Williams used his platform in a bad way because he lied to people which initially caused him to lose his job. He lied to people saying that he was there in the helicopter during the Iraqinvasion. A villain is a cruel character whose evil actions and motives are important to the main plot of the story. The three characters that are considered to be villains include: Iago from Othello, Bosola from The Duchess of Malfi, and Satan from Paradise Lost. It is arguably the first and only total war in the history of the war. Hew Strachan believes that it is because of its totality, which is seen through all of the components and scale of World War II. His fellow historian Robert Messer agrees saying That first truly global conflict mobilized economies and populations of the world on a scale and degree that, if not total, was unprecedented in history. They both agree, that World War II is the best example of total war for basically the same reasons, but Strachan will go more in depth. While, Messer dives into the morality of dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I will first review Strachan s essay and then will explain how Strachan and Messer both agree that the Second World War was total in nature. First, we will examine Strachan s essay, Total War . He gives a very good and detailed argument for how total war was perceived before and after the war. He explains that total war was used before the war as a means to fully mobilize a nation, but after the war it was used to describe the carnage inflicted on the enemy. This argument gives total war two definitions, which may be fair, because how can something abstract have a truly rigid definition. In reality, the combination of the two definitions lead to a viable single definition of the process of total war. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New laws, increased policing and severe punishments are often a result of the media s coverage of the issue. Although, a self fulfilling prophecy may develop as the group resists the attempts that are put in place to control it, this leads to an increase in arrests and more reporting. A deviancy amplification spiral therefore results, meaning that deviance could increase as a result of the moral panic. An early moral panic involves Mods VS Rockers in 1964. Events that were actually just a few scuffles between youths and vandalism were report in an exaggerated way. The media portrayed this event as a Day of Terror and words such as Riots and battle were used. Cohen suggests over reporting of this far outweighed the importance of the actual event. He argues that the media tapped into a social consensus, that all the public shared concerns about the general decline in morality of the young and the emergence of a strong youth culture. Consequently the two groups were perceived in a stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi (1994) moral panics arise when society fails to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For example, the first moral panics about youth in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a distinctive consumer group with values, norms of behaviour and ... It smelt like gunpowder and blood and metal and stale water, the resulting combination sending her reeling. Gevanni, one of her coworkers, saw Sophie looking sick and walked over. Adler? Sophie blinked and looked at her coworker. Huh? You okay? I..., Sophie saw the body of Light Yagami, the boy she had watched go to pieces only three and a half years younger than she! I don t know. I understand where she s coming from, he thought, and I know she s relatively jaded and didn t react well when she heard Kira begging the Shinigami to kill us all, and watched Kira die; though I suspect that s because of her sensitivities regarding blood and guns and suicide along with the SPK, but... why does she feel so much for the serial killer? I find that the word enigma fits her quite well. Though I see where you re coming from, Adler, I can t help but wonder what makes you feel so much for the serial killer? Sophie blinked in surprise. I find that he was relatable in the way that he was just a bored and intelligent kid who tried to make the world better. I often felt that way still do and especially during my teenage years, I felt that way the same way. Hence why I joined the CIA. Ah. Thank you for your insight. • 54. Compare And Contrast Sonnet 60 And 64 Sonnets 60 and 64 are about the effects of time. This is a recurrent theme in Shakespeare s poems. Through the use of imagery, Shakespeare provides relatable experiences to describe the passage of time. Sonnet 60 provides three examples of the passage of time the first is waves moving towards a shore, the second is a child growing to maturity, and the third is time s effects on the beauty of youth. Sonnet 64 provides three of Shakespeare s personal experiences the first is time s effects on towers and brass, the second is the ocean and a shore, the third is the change of condition of things. Both sonnets have similarities and differences in themes, structure, and speech acts. Sonnets 60 and 64 have a similar theme of Time destroying things and eventually taking his love away. The difference is that sonnet 60 has a more hopeful ending than sonnet 64. In the couplet of sonnet 60 Shakespeare has hope that his verse will stand against time and the poem ... Also, in sonnet 64 there is a sonic pattern. 10 of the 14 lines end with a word that contains a long a sound for example: defaced, age, razed, rage, gain, main, state, decay, ruminate, and away. This repetition could symbolize that Time s effects are constant. The poem also ends with the word lose so this could mean Time s effects are constant until the thing it is effecting is lost. There is one subject per quatrain in sonnet 60. In quatrain one the subject is waves, quatrain two the subject is nativity, and in quatrain three the subject is Time. In sonnet 64 there is only one main subject and verb which is I and the verb is Seen . However, in the couplet of sonnet 64 the subject is ambiguous. It could be the thought or death that is doing the action of weeping for something that it will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Who Is Chris Mccandless In Into The Wild Spiritually connecting with oneself is a difficult and honorable journey. The complexities of achieving our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless succeeded at this. Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer proved that he was searching for his purpose in life, which manifested into his hypocritical and ignorant attitude. First of all, Christopher McCandlessexploited his ignorance when blaming his parents during his journey, even though Chris resembled their tactics. Chris s justification for his venture into the wildwas because of his parents nature, Both Father and Son were stubborn and high strung... Given Walt s need to exert control (64). This didactic diction is meant to support Chris s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This natural ability should have been a blessing, but McCandless grew up shaming these materialistic values. To certain extent, Chris is correct, but his disrespect for authority was unexcusable. For example, when working at Mcdonalds an employee said, ...the first thing he d do is peel those socks off...kind of like a statement (400). Not only is McCandless joining the capitalist society (that he loathed) but he is also disrespectful to the managers of an establishment. McCandless disregard for authority exposes his ignorance and inability to operate with others. Another instance in which McCandless was hypocritical is when he claims a revelation in his journal, HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED (189). Throughout the whole book McCandless keeps people at a distance (Westerberg, Franz, Burres), but only comes to appreciate others when he s at a state of imminent death. Only at a critical time of his journey could he discover his reason for venturing off into the wild. This reverent realization evokes sympathy from the audience about McCandless death, but should rather expose his hypocritical nature. Only few people in their lives will reach a level of self actualization. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
