Networking Skills In The Creative Industry
Networks exist to foster self help, to exchange information, to change society, improve productivity
and work life, and to share resources. They are structured to transmit information in a way that is
quicker, with more high touch, and more energy efficient than any other process we know.
~ John Nasibitt, Megatrends
Introduction (Section 1)
There is a sure component of truth to the way that networking all by itself is to a degree pointless
when contrasted with the capacity to depend upon others and promptly accomplish an imparted or
common result from the relationship with individual networkers. With that out of the way, the
following paper will concentrate particularly upon the meaning of networking, how is
accomplished to, the profits of performing it, the skills essential for powerful networking and in
addition an analysis of my individual network; up to and including a talk of what people or groups
are right now included inside the network, where potential future networks may lie, and how the
network map may be changed or separated later on keeping in mind the end goal to assist future
needs. Through this talk, I trust that the audience will gain a more educated comprehension
regarding the need and significance of networking. What is networking?
I ve always felt that question difficult to answer, but now that I know what it is it helps me
understand more,

The Power Of A Child s Imagination
Muhanad Alenezi
Film Studies 101
November 19, 15
The Power of a Child s Imagination Guillermo del Toro, a respected director has been credited
for many of his films. Among his popular Pan s Labyrinth, del Toro exposes his true power as a
filmmaker in his movie as the innocent is lured by the power of imagination. Ofelia s traumatic
young experiences are influencing her imaginary gateways to new worlds. In this movie, Guillermo
del Toro uses different elements of film style to get an insight of Ofelia s vivid and detailed
imagination of how her imaginary world is much preferred over her realistic world. At the
begging of the movie, we can see del Toro s use of mise en scene appear to set the mood of the
film. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Del Toro s use of lighting and color allowed us to explore and comprehend Ofelia s thoughts and
shows clues for the movie s implicit meaning. Lighting used in Ofelia gives us a better
understanding between her reality and fantasy. A strong example would be towards the end of
the movie when her father shoots Ofelia. The colors turned dark and as the whole place went
shadowy showing the misery of Ofelia s realistic world as she dies slowly. Suddenly, bright
yellow lights pervaded the scene as Ofelia turn into Princess Moana. Del Toro s slight change of
color had created two completely different worlds, one where imagination provides immortality,
and a realistic one where death is not an option. Ofelia s room is dark and there is barely any
light, which portrays her reality. Nevertheless, in the mystical underground of the pale man s
home the light is relatively brighter, which just goes to show that Ofelia s realistic life is
depressing. Her imagination, however, is not astonishing but is preferred over her reality. She
enters the paranormal underground wearing a full green dress and Ofelia s face is saturated.
Green is the color of nature; it symbolizes freshness, fertility, and holds with it a strong emotional
correspondence with safety. The color of her dress has successfully shown her dream of escaping
the real world and entering the unknown world. This indirectly indicates Ofelia s passionate
personality when she is aware that her

Romeo Is Completely to Blame for the Tragic Outcome in the...
Romeo is completely to blame for the tragic outcome in the play.
William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet is without doubt one of the most well known love
story. Throughout the five acts of the play, one tragedy follows another, with the famous suicide of
Romeo and Juliet as a tragic conclusion. Throughout the play, it may seem that Romeo caused these
events to unfold, however it is unjust to say that he bears all responsibility for the tragedy. The
decisions, actions and circumstances that other characters made and faced have also contributed to
the tragic outcome. Nevertheless, it is also in the hands of fate that destined the immature deaths of
Romeo and Juliet
Juliet s conceding to a forbidden relationship with Romeo was the ... Show more content on

However, chance and misfortune could ve been factors giving fate a helping hand. It could be
by chance that Romeo and Juliet were to meet at the ball. And it was unfortunate that the letter
could not reach Romeo as there is a plague spreading and Friar John was forbidden to leave
Verona. Before they were born Romeo and Juliet were chosen as agents of fate, and that it would
be a death marked love . Romeo himself admits that he is driven by fate: I fear too early for my
mind misgives / Some consequences yet hanging in the stars (Act1 Scene4 Lines106 107).
However, even if Romeo and Juliet did not meet at the Capulets ball, fate could make the star
crossed lovers meet at another time, as an important task has to be fulfilled as the result of this
death mark d love .
Another major factor in the play is the family feud between the Capulets and the Montagues.
Without the feud, the young lovers may be together and may not have to act is such desperation
that had driven them to commit suicide. The feud has a direct impact on the actions characters
decide from the very beginning, thus, it is another important deciding factor regarding the outcome
of the play.
Because both Romeo and Juliet feel intense passion for each other, they behave in a very hasty and
dangerous manner. And despite Friar Lawrence s warning to Romeo: Wisely and slow, they

Students Should Get Paid For Good Grades Essay
Should Students Get Paid For Good Grades?
Why do almost all students dread school? Though the answer may differ between different
people, the main reason why most students dread school is because we have to go to school
almost everyday and work, receiving no reward. There is nothing to look forward to in school
and though the idea may sound absurd, students should get paid for good grades. School is work,
it s difficult and it takes up our entire day, filling the rest of our free time with homework or topics
to study. If we got paid for doing good in school, then we would be encouraged to keep up the
hard work and we would put more effort in school. Meaning that the next generation of adults
would be well educated and would benefit society in many ways. Getting paid for good grades
would also help us see the responsibility that comes with money. It would also help prepare us for
life after school because we would know how to spend our money wisely, so in other words,
students should get paid for good grades because school is work, we would be more encouraged to
be diligent and we would learn the responsibility that comes with money.
First off, school requires a mental effort which by definition is considered to be work. Since we go
to school for 8 hours every day and do that about 180 days per year, we should get paid if we keep
our grades up because it s hard to do. Keeping good grades requires lots of hard work and effort. It
also requires time, which some of us

Girl And Girl By Jamaica Kincaid
Comparing and Contrasting If and Girl
Introduction: In Girl by Jamaica Kincaid and If by Rudyard Kipling are two poems that a girl
and boy that have a odd lifestyle. Girl is about a girl who has a mother that wants her to do
anything that her daughter doesn t want to do and in If there is a boy that has a father that is
encouraging and he is being told stuff by his dad. They both have a similar thing, they are both
poems and their endings aren t the same, different.
Similarity of Difference #1: Parent to kid poem is for If and Girl. In the poem Girl there is a lot of

Redwood Trees
Laws are implemented for the betterment of the community. However, a law was put back in
play when eight redwood trees were planted in the backyard of Ms. Carolynn Bissett and Mr.
Richard Treanor overshadowing solar panels of their neighbor, Mr. Mark Vargas, who installed
the panels on year 2001. This generated a conflict between the two neighbors. Resulting to Mr.
Mark Vargas filing a dispute against Ms. Carolynn Bissett and Mr Richard Treanor. The
California Solar Shade Act of 1978 was used against the couple. The law provides protection to
solar panel system owners from shading trees and shrubs on their property. The law also prevents
a property owner from allowing trees or shrubs to shade an existing solar panel installed on a

Vargas used the law to get rid of the trees that he did not like and to keep his solar panels for his
own benefit. To which the law was not used for the betterment of the whole community but to
only make one person happy. In a way that he intently installed the power panels without
consulting his neighbor about it and knowing that the trees will cast a shadow over it. In
addition, his willingness to cut more trees the next year is a sign that he just wanted to get rid of
all the trees for good. How can we allow a law to cut down trees that is much beneficial for
everyone than a solar panel? People always say that cutting trees is not good for our environment,
for it somehow controls temperature of our surroundings, clean the polluted air and most of all
prevents climate change. In the end, they know that the court only favored Vargas because of the
law, but without it Mr. Treanor would win the fight against Mr.

Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages
Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more
dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because
nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark Z. Jacobson).
Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods of producing
electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are more preferred than the toxic
burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of greenhouse gases (Health Research
Funding). However, I believe that the disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power
plants demean the advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy
problems. The disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long
lasting destructive effects on the environment and health. Health effects
Accidents
A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act as the heat
source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal power stations work similarly,
where heat is used to generate steam which drives a turbine connected to a generator that produces
electricity (European Nuclear Society). There are four hundred nuclear power plants functioning in
the world, with many in the United States and Japan (Nuclear Energy Institute, World Statistics ).
One of the main drawbacks of using nuclear power plants is

Oedipus Relationship Between Hamlet and Gertrude
The Oedipal Relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude
Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, Shakespeare portrays Hamlet with the same types of
behaviors and frustrations in humans that Sigmund Freud saw at a much later date. When the
relationship between Hamlet and his mother is analyzed Freud s oedipal complex theory comes to
mind.
Sigmund Freud first wrote about his theory in his book An Interpretation of Dreams in 1899.
Simply put, Freud states that it is normal for children to have sexual desires for their parent of
the opposite sex. He says that it is also normal to have feelings of hatred for the other parent that
is of the same sex as the child. Most children experience these feelings between the ages of three
and five, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that she seeks out incestuous pleasure of his bed. (3.4 . l. 90) This exploring of his
mother s carnal nature is because he is sexually concerned for her. Hamlet also makes many
allusions to beds and sex in the scene because beds are where most sexual activity occurs. An
example of this is when Hamlet says: In the rank sweat of an enseamented bed Stew d (3.4 . l. 93
96) It is possible that here Shakespeare wanted to show how Hamlet s rage brought out all his
repressed sexually desires for his mother because of Hamlet s concentration on Gertrude s sex
life. All of these words come out in Hamlet s rage because before he had repressed them. It can
be best explained by Freud when he sates the complex which is thus formed is doomed to early
repression (Freud 51) but it has a lasting influence from the unconscious. (Freud 51) It could be
concluded from a Freudian point of view that in this scene Hamlet s repressed sexual desire for his
mother surfaces due to his rage in a form of sexual allusions.
The significance of the closet scene taking place in Gertrude s bedroom is also important to look
at because the privacy and intimacy of the bedroom add a new dimension when Hamlet s and
Gertrude s relationship is examined. Bedrooms are very private and are usually places where
sexual activity takes place. Shakespeare possibly placed Hamlet and Gertrude in these

Yellowtone Extremophies
Yellowstone National Park is a truly unique place. Few places in the world contain such amazing
biodiversity, and such a wide variety of species in such a condensed area. While many scientists
have been interested in studying the various plants and animals that inhabit Yellowstone, a group of
microorganisms that has been of special interest in the past few years are Yellowstone s
extremophiles the microorganisms that inhabit Yellowstone s thermal springs. Extremophiles have
opened the eyes of science to the possibilities of life in extreme conditions, helping us to understand
how they adapt to such seemingly inhospitable environments. They have also helped us to make
several important advances in the fields of medicine and biotechnology. Before the discovery of
extremophiles in Yellowstone, it was widely believed that life simply could not survive at
extremely high temperatures, as extremely high temperatures quickly denature proteins in cells.
Although most organisms are unable to survive in such extreme climates, the microorganisms that
inhabit Yellowstone s thermal vents are able to thrive in them. Before the discovery of many
microorganisms in thermal areas, it was believed that the hottest temperature at which... Show more

prokaryotes, which more easily adapt to extreme temperatures than eukaryotes. They use salts such
as potassium and magnesium to protect their DNA from degradation, and they generate special

temperatures. One adaptation that thermophilic archaea have that helps them to survive high
temperatures is ether bonds in their cell membranes, which are more stable than bonds found in

Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column
The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal
reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal
compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT)
column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance
for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The
advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the
filled in concrete prolongs local bucklingof the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for
the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more
stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the
concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial
strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel
tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small
increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other
hand, the axial load and deformationbehavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross
sectional shape, diameter/width to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the
filled concrete.

Rhetorical Analysis of The Shawshank Redemption Essay
Rhetorical Analysis of The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption is an inspiring
story about Andy Dufreine and his efforts to maintain hope in horrible situations. The directors
used many effective methods that displayed signs of hope in such a horrible place. Andy
maintained hope by distracting his mind and always staying occupied. Andywas also inspired to
survive by helping others find hope in life.
The creators of this movie used several effective, and often subtle, methods to illustrate the hope
found in Andy and his surroundings. Andy was always portrayed as a clean cut and well groomed
prisoner with his shirt always buttoned and his hair always combed. This self respect was in great
contrast to the other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first distraction for Andy was the rock hammer, which allowed him to keep physically
occupied. The rock hammer allowed Andy to stay optimistic about returning to a normal life by
reminding him how life was on the outside. The rock hammer was also very important and
symbolic in Andy s escape. His escape was portrayed as glorious and represented the final result
of keeping hope. Andy was assigned to the library, which built up to the largest events in his
pursuit of hope. He was presented with the opportunity to help the guards with financial
advising and filling out tax forms, which virtually removed Andy from the prison life and let
him operate almost completely as if he were at his old job. His job allowed him gain the respect
of the guards, which relieved some of the awfulness of prison life. Andy s attempt to enlarge and
develop the library was another distractions for him. His constant letter writing to request funds
for expanding the library took some of Andy s time and allowed him to focus his mind on things
other than prison. After his years of requests were finally answered with books and eventually
annual funds Andy and Red were presented with the full time job of maintaining the new, huge
library. These new responsibilities were key in making their lives bearable and in lessening the
difficulties of prison. The actual receiving of the books and funds also inspired the men and gave

Analysis Of David Hanson s Carnage And Culture Essay
Question2: In Carnage and Culture, Victor David Hanson expressed a slanted perspective about the
crucial battles in western history in order to support his theory that western militaristic strategies
are superior to alternative forms of warfare. He fostered his sentiments by explaining how specific
battletactics can unify or divide a nation in a matter of moments. However, his reference to the
concept that western warriors continuously triumph in war, is expressed in a manner that does not
fully evaluate both perspectives of the conflict. Hanson alluded to his message behind Carnage and
Culture in his thesis: A sense of personal freedom, superior discipline, matchless weapons,
egalitarian camaraderie, individual initiative, constant tactical adaptations, and flexibility,
preference for shock battle of heavy infantry were themselves the murderous dividend of Hellenic
culture at large ... Yet for the past 2,500 years even in the Dark Ages, well before the Military
Revolution, and not simply as a result of the Renaissance, the European discovery of the Americas,
or the Industrial Revolution there has been a peculiar practice of Western warfare, a common
foundation and continual way of fighting, that has made Europeans the most deadly soldiers the
history of civilizations. (Hanson 5 6)

and reflect the west s brutal military tactics that, his analysis of the war does not

its history goes back to about the fifteenth century in Europe. It has its roots from the morris dance

that inspired country dancing. As country dancing grew, it started to evolve. Overtime, few things

Egger s Corruption In Zeitoun
By reading the recent news stories of Zeitoun and his ex wife Kathy, my perception of him was
extremely skewed as I read Zeitoun. Rather than viewing him as the heroic and invincible man that
he was, I found myself constantly looking forward to the abusive man he is, ignoring the
courageous acts he had accomplished. He originally comes off as a fearless, valiant man in the
novel Zeitoun, but now he is a criminal. This alteration was provoked. The current actions of
Zeitoun enhance Eggers purpose and prove to be a primary consequence of the corruption he had
experienced. David Eggers wrote the novel, Zeitoun to dismantle the strong façade of the United

Rather than escaping disaster and fleeing New Orleans, he decided to sacrifice his safety and
guard his city. Zeitoun felt as if he had been called to stay, that God knew he would be of service
if he remained. His choice to stay in the city had been God s will (Eggers110). Excerpts such as
this one illustrate Zeitoun as an extremely religious and valiant man. He put others before himself
and took responsibilities into his own hands. However, when Zeitoun was placed in Camp
Greyhound, his valiant character slowly began to fade. Due to mistreatment, Zeitoun, the valiant
hero, began to waste away; he knew the conditions had begun to take a very real toll on his
psyche. He had been angry until now, but he had been thinking clearly. Now the connections were

were displayed within Kathy s character. Eggers included that Kathy s test results pointed to

Nigerian Culture Vs American Culture Essay
Nigerian Culture vs. American Culture
There are vast contrasts between the cultures of Nigerians and Americans, but there are similarities
among the two as well. Distinguishing the attributes that make up both countries can instill a
knowledge in both peoples and give a new sense of appreciation for the diverse cultures. The
differences and comparisons may come as a surprise for some. Some of the major differences lie
within the styles of communication in the two countries, but if studied thoroughly similarities in
communication methods can be found.
The official language of Nigeria is English, as in The United States. This is the main likeness in the
communication methods of these two countries. Although most Nigerians do speak English, being
fluent in other languages is not rare. There are over 521 languages that have been spoken in
Nigeria with at least 9 of them now being extinct (Nwodo, MUST ... Show more content on

Even though this term is the same in both places, if it were a more direct question, the meanings
would then differ. An example being; Are you mad or something? To Nigerians this is a question
of their sanity To Americans, it is just a way to find out the mood the person is in and to clarify if
they are angry about an issue that occurred ( Useful phrases in Yoruba ). Another significant
distinction between Nigerian and American culture is food.

Literature Review Of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Literature Review
Much of the literature and research related to the use of cognitive behavioral therapy in the
treatment of chronic pain is rather new. Overall, upon reviewing the available literature, it appears
as though research is focused on determining what particular chronic pain populations experience
the most success with CBT based treatments. To begin, Loebach Wetherell et al. (2016) recently
published the results of their study on the impact of age on the efficacy of CBT and acceptance and
commitment therapy (ACT) in the treatment of chronic pain. The 114 individuals who participated
in this study were between the ages of 18 and 89. In order to be included in this study, subjects had
to have been suffering from nonmalignant, chronic pain for a minimum of six months and have a
minimum score of 5 on the severity and interference subscales of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI)
(Loebach Wetherell, Petkus, et al., 2016, p. 303). Following a medical and psychiatric evaluation,
subjects were randomized into groups that would receive either CBT or ACT. After completing a
four to six week pretreatment phase, study participants attended weekly, 90 minute CBT or ACT
group sessions over an eight week period. Blinded research assistants performed assessments at
various points throughout the treatment phase, as well as after treatments were completed.
Participants responses to treatment were evaluated via the BPI interference subscale, which aims to
assess the affect of

Summary Of Are We Too Casual About Nuclear Arms Threat By...
Are we too casual about nuclear arms threat? by John M. Crisp. The genre is an editorial (January
3,2017). Crisp shows that people are too nonchalant about nuclear weapons and their dangerous
effects because of their daily lives and work which do not allow for them to worry about these
threats through the use of rhetorical appeals. The earth already suffers from the climate change, yet
the American people still ignore the history of what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all
the damages U.S inflicted. Countries yet race to develop plentiful nuclear weapons that are having
conflict with other countries. Crisp appeals to logos by utilizing factual information such as the
effects of climate change inflicted by nuclear bombs. The author

11.Please describe two (and only two) reasons why post licensure requirements for recordkeeping
and reporting are particularly important for product designated as biologics Post approval
requirements for recordkeeping and reporting are extremely helpful to monitor the activity of the
product. Moreover, the product records are kept in order to constantly control the safety and
effectiveness of the product. Post licensure recordkeeping establish the database with all related
documents including adverse events reports, additional clinical trials data, changes in labeling of
the products and etc. 12.Please describe two (and only two) types of manufacturing arrangements
that are permitted by FDA for biologic products There are two types of manufacturing agreements
for the biologics sole manufacturing and cooperative manufacturing agreements. Sole
manufacturing concept implies that all manufacturing operations are conducted at a single site.
This type of manufacturing is not the most common arrangement today. The biologic manufacturers
that choose to work under the sole manufacturing model prefer to use either multi use facilities or
pilot plants. Multi use facilities and pilot plans permit production of several products. Cooperative
manufacturing concept has four additional types of manufacturing arrangement: Short supply

The International Fair Trade Market
worried about the well being of these producers, we need to directly address the imbalances in the
trading process and increase the producer s benefit in fair trade. To do so these producer coops
need to gain a part of the ownership in companies that sell their products in the north consuming
markets. According the Jaffee, through his research and findings, when helping the fair tradecoffee
bean producers it untimely comes down to the long term goal of these companies, if it is to
simply increase their market and gain consumers or to actually transform the international fair
trade market. An example of the northern power Jaffee gave was in a case where they pushed
the mass production of a low grade level of coffee but ended up failing against the organic fair
trade coffee beans, which lead to the farmers of these low grade coffees out of the field and into
dire poverty. They were pushed to produce this coffee with not input of their own and it ended up
costing them their lively hood with those that call the shots only feeling a small hit of the impact.

What Are The Clusters Model
Clusters models
According to Boja (2011), there are four economic agglomeration types; these types differ according
to the type of firms within the agglomeration, the economic efficiency and flexibility and the
innovation (figure #). Clusters are formed by firms that conduct activities in the same field and in
which innovation is an important factor that stimulate the competition and the firms growth.
Figure#
Porter s model
Porter s model (figure#) is characterized by interdependence relations between four main factors.
External factors are described as the initial resources (material resources and the facilitating
conditions to start a new business in the area) and the existing economic environment (the number
of firms operating, the ability to launch a new business and the commercial culture of the area).
Companies strategies will face the increasing competitive environment. They are required to
provide specialized services and products, higher quality and collaboration to meet higher
requirements. The solution is to grow, to innovate and provide diverse products and services;
Market conditions represent the demand for provided products and services; without a need or a
customer, there won t be a commercial initiative to see an opportunity in the area resources. Related
and supporting industries describe the factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Christopher Marllowe Violence
The Violence of Christopher Marlowe s The Jew of Malta
Christopher Marlowe s The Jew of Malta is a violent, bloody, destructive play that literally jars
the senses. Part of this is due to the modern reader s background: we see the characters through
modern eyes, with distinct views of low class and high class. It would be easy, as such, to discount
The Jew of Malta as only appealing to the base interests of its time, and it would be only slightly
less easy to protest that it has meaning beyond any crude first glance, and that the extreme acts
presented are merely metaphors for deeper social commentary. Steane writes:

Abigail to the railroad tracks of his house cum abbey), Barabas has no superior, only flunkies and
enemies. And, like a true villain, he casts off the first patsy, Abigail, at the traditional moment,
when she s about to betray him, for the second, Ithamore, who, also following tradition, after
aiding him, turns traitor. Of course, the fact that Ithamore double crosses Barabas is not
surprising. Even though the story leads you to believe that Barabas will get his comeuppance,
the main proof of Ithamore s inferiority is in his introduction: he brags openly about how evil he
is, violating the first rule of the truly wicked (much like the first rule of cool ), that if you have to
prove it, it s not true (II.iii.204 214). While Barabas has already proved his evil and can therefore
talk of his crimes, the unknown Ithamore has to convince the audience of his lowliness by listing
his crimes, and so he is doomed to fall prey to Bellamira s lusty wiles before becoming just another
notch on Barabas belt of vengeance. Barabas continues making alliances, being betrayed, and

Impact Of Marilyn Monroe On The Inferno
Individuals in society have sligtly changed the way that they judge people today. Marilyn
Monroe is a famous model, actress and singer. She is also well known as a famous sex symbol
especially back in the 1950 s. Al Capone on the other hand, has a reputation of being a gangster.
Pietro della Vigna was an italian dipomat who took committed suicide. In the Inferno, written by
Dante Alghieri, it shows Dante s journey through the nine circles of hell. In each of the circles of
hell, there is a sin that is committed and people get punished for what they have done wrong.
Although society s views on people s actions today are much different on how it was back then,
some ideas still remain the same. Society has changed the way it views how people express... Show

Today, showing your skin is a normal thing to do and most people flaunt what they have instead
of covering it. In circle eight, she would go into the category of panders and seducers because
she is using her body and sex appeal to gain attention. Additionally Marilyn had affairs with a lot
men, but she was also into women and had affairs with them as well. Marilyn was worried
because she sexually attracts men but she is into women and not being heterosexual was not
accepted at that time. Many people praised her for being perfect but internally and mentally, she
had many problems and Monroe has to worry about keeping her image ( Review: Hollywood ).
For her actions, Dante would place her in circle two, seven, and eight. Circle two is lust and her
affairs with different men shows that she was with them because of her own pleasure and she
also had sexual relationships with women. Her relationships with women is also a sin in circle
seven which is violence against God, specifically homosexuality because God created us so that
a man could be with a woman. Monroe is a panderer and seducer from circle eight because she
was in a sexual relationship with many people. Sexuality and homosexuality is being accepted
today and people are more open about who they are attracted to and they respect other s sexuality
but back then, heterosexuality was what is right. More people have become less modest today and
are not afraid of expressing themselves in different ways.
Violence and crimes are both viewed as a negative thing in our society. Al Caponeis a well known
criminal and he was able to get away with the crimes that he had committed ( We Need Al

The Foul Reign of Self-Reliance
Collin Kennedy The Foul Reign of Self Reliance My first exposure to the high flown pap of
Benjamin Anastas s The Foul Reign of Self Reliance came in a quiet library at the private
institution where I had enrolled to learn the secrets of education and because I wanted, at the age
of 21, to fulfill my philosophy core and graduate on time. Cute openings aside, Mr. Anastas has a
significant amount of gall calling his private school teacher Mr. Sideways when it seems, to me,
that he is the one with the skewed vision. As I read through his essay the first time, I found myself
growing discontented and distant from the author. As I read through it a second time, I began to

To Mr. Aransas I say, what is wrong with this process? Do you have the same views and beliefs
as you did when you were a seven year old? Hell, do you hold to the same convictions as you did
when you were a college undergrad? I highly doubt it. While it may not be as radical as waking
up one morning and finding you ve shed all your old assumptions about the world, they have
changed over time. What of the successful businessman who one day awakens to find that in a
moment of clarity, his heart has softened and his greed has shifted to giving? He no longer
works towards making money for the sake of wealth, but rather making money to give to those
who need it. There are countless stories of these types of individuals. These are people who
have found a universal truth within them and found their beliefs totally flipped. Is it not
contradictory? It most certainly is, but this does not make it wrong. Where is you re argument
there Mr. Anastasia? There are two paragraphs in Benjamin s essay that I disagree with above all
others. The main one I will get to later in this essay. The first is the fifth paragraph starting, The
excessive love of individual liberty that debases our national politics? (Anastas p. 2) Individual
liberty is the crux of the entire human existence. How can we love this value too much? If any

Francesco Borromini Research Paper
Francesco Borromini is the most quintessential Baroque architect of all time. Though he was born
in Canton Ticino in the Alps, he came to Rome early and remained for the rest of his life. He was
suspicious and dedicated, evident in that he carefully supervised his designs from models, to
drawings, and even to the completed structure. His works, such as the church of San Carlo alle
Quattro Fontane and the church of Sant Agnese in Agone, still stand today and continue to show
his amazing skill and expertise, and they still show his unrelenting pursuit of perfection. The church
of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane is Borromini s first independent commission. He received the
commission from Cardinal Francesco Barberini in 1934, but Barberini s initial interest in funding
the church had diminished, causing the project to go through financial difficulties... Show more

Before they were decommissioned, the foundation and many of the lower walls were
constructed. To increase the originality of the plan, Borromini disrupted the longitudinal stress
drastically. He extended the transverse arms so that the eye would be led to the left and right
and away from the high altar. The wall area was also changed so that the crossing became an
exact octagon. Borromini s chief contribution was his facade. By the time he resigned, the
facade reached cornice level and the dome was completed as far as the lanterns. When Carlo
Rainaldi returned he hollowed out the piers, providing space for altars with retables and space
for oratories. The church of San Carlo and the church of Sant Agnese have a few similarities, the
most obvious one being that both are Roman churches by Borromini. However, they also started
out as a greek cross plan, and both had a lack of aisles. Because they were churches, they were
funded by Vatican officials, namely Cardinal Francesco Barbernini and Pope Innocent X,

Abigail Adams Sparknotes
Abigail Adams was a wise and educated woman that had one wonderful but challenging life.
Like any other women in the 1700s, she grew up to become someone s wife, bear children and
live in the private life of her husband s house. Abigail has a slightly different story than other
women though. She grew up with her sisters and brother and had a tutor so they became literate,
which was not a thing for women. Educated men didn t want a wife that was smart, they wanted
someone to take care of them and the children and just about nothing else. In the following
paragraphs we will talk about who the author is, a back story of who Abigail is, and the thesis of
the book as a whole.
The author of this book, Charles W. Aker, was born in Indianapolis, April 2, 1920 to Ira and Mary
Bird Akers. He was a US Navy vet and served in World War II in 1942 to 1946. After he fought in
WWII he became a history teacher at the Eastern Nazarene College in 1948 then became the
Director of Quincy Junior College in 1959. He then taught at Geneva College in Pennsylvania
after which he went to Oakland University in 1966 and was appointed as chair of the history
department in 1968. As well as being a teacher, he was also a member of many societies like the
Colonial Society of Massachusetts and the American Historical Association just to name a few.

Personal Responsibility For Ma s Success Essay
A number of factors contributed to Ma s success. It may be useful to start with some of the key
business principles he has vocalized and to refer to his background from there. His first
principle relates to his own personal responsibility for the consequences associated with his
business decisions. He has noted somewhat dramatically that if anyone has to go to jail as a
result of following his direction, he should be the first to go. He also stated during his IPO in New
York that if shareholders were unhappy, he would be willing to buy the company back from them.
It is not clear whether this is a realistic suggestion, but the sentiment is certainly rare. This sense of
personal responsibilityoften derives from starting in a position where one intimately knows all of
his colleagues. This was the case when Alibaba began.
Another of Ma s core principles has been to maintain a sense of direction. As the CEO is
responsible for setting the mission and the aim of a company, this job also entails expressing this to
leading management the company as a whole as well as setting in place the process to execute it.
Looking back, Ma has been instrumental in the company s continual innovation, acquisition and
expansion. This progress is reminiscent of clear task oriented goals.
Ma is careful to remind business leaders that a sense of modesty is helpful to the learning process.
He claimed he is always happy when he has a student who knows something he does not. This
willingness to learn

Farewell To Manzanar, And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida
Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when
Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is
significant to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or
her experience. The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are,
Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne
Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese
American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese
adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a
comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However,
those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne
was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United
States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called
enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her
how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. This relates to Jeanne because she
states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the War Department authority to
take her father. In the short story, Yoshika Uchida says, The FBI had

The Movie Thelma And Louise
I don t care, I love it The film Thelma and Louise is most famous for its ending scene. The iconic
scene of the two girls kissing and driving off the canyon into their death is present even today in
pop culture and referred back by those who liked it. Although the kiss in the scene was not a
romantic kiss, it captured the love between the two girls, not a romantic homosexualised love,
but a heteronormal sisterhood type of love. Also, their faces prove that they died happy, and
chose to die not only because they had no other choice but because that way they had agency as
to what would happen to them and how they would die. The ending is empowering to women,
because the women have the power of choice, even though they die. Unlike other films we have
seen in class such as Vertigo and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon where the women who die do
not seem happy or content with their demise. Throughout the film both Thelma and Louise are
fighting against the patriarchy they must endure daily and a life they no longer want to live, in a
society where they cannot fully express who they are. The women decide to go on a girl s
weekend, from there they run into various predicaments that eventually lead to their deaths. When
Louise picks up Thelma, she asks how did Daryll let you come? and she admits she did not tell
him. This moment in the film shows how repressed these women were. This is a breakthrough for
women in film because they begin to have agency, and

Dorothy Parkera Poem Analysis
Coda by Dorothy Parker has a negative connotation on the view of life. It is accurate to describe
this as someone who is very pessimistic, or even a little bit depressed. Therefore I made the tone
of my melody very dark and not inspiring to reflect the personality of the poem. In each subsequent
bar I decrease the initial notedown by a note to represent how the author believes that there is no
reason or motivation for living life. It is seen in each bar that I begin an upward trend with each
initial note but towards the end of each bar I placed a chord that sounds like it is disrupting the
flow of progress and motivation. I see pessimism as a dangerous entity that can harm the happiness
of others and I believe it is clearly seen with the scheme in which I have wrote my melody. In the
beginning of the 5th bar I begin an upward trend of each subsequent initial note that emphasizes the
author s slight change in tone, form completely negative to only slightly negative, indicating that
there might be a change in the author s thoughts. But as the melody continues to build up it all
comes crashing down once the author wrote throwing the battle , and Would you kindly direct me
to hell? . The decreasing melody of sixteenth notes emphasizes the throwing of the battle. A battle
is something that is built up and the end of a battle a victor is decided, but instead of building up
the author decides to throw the battle. Finally, the last note represent hell . It is the lowest note out

After the legalization of marijuana in 2012, Colorado s population has jumped from 5,189,876

Second solution is public transportation like shuttle, buses, trains, and so on. Using the public
transportation should be made mandatory so that traffic congestion does not spread further and
traffic is well regulated. Security should be tightened on public transportation to ensure safe travel.
It will be cheaper and better means of commuting.
Third solution is public awareness which is very important to solve the problem of traffic

The Matrix Movie Analysis
Danny Warren
ANTH 2306
R11362526
Final Essay: Question 1
In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary
place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and
Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different
aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and
outcomes of each film.
The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or
not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The
Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume
they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by
machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in
this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to
save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian
usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact
words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even
given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives
of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work
towards making life better in the real word.
The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are
human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped
when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious
stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of
the natives living there. The setting Pandora is a very mystical place and has many animals, or

Reading Note On Reading Comprehension
Reading Fluency: Refers to the ability to decode words accurately, effortlessly, using correct
volume, phrasing and appropriate intonation at a reasonably rapid rate. There are three main
components of fluency including speed, accuracy and prosody, which is using expression when
reading. Since the reader is readingautomatically he is able to focus on the comprehension of text.
Fluency refers to the ability to maintain accurate readingof connected text at a conversational rate
with appropriate prosody. The reader is not easily distracted and reads in an effortless flowing
manner.
Automaticity: Refers to the ability to read words automatically with little cognitive effort. Slow
word recognition distracts the reader from building comprehension of the text. If reading is
automatic, reading comprehension is possible although not guaranteed. Students with language
delays frequently have automatic word recognition but have difficulty with comprehension.
Reading Rate: Reading rate is the fluent identification of individual words and the speed and
fluidity that a reader moves through connected text. It is usually calculated by either the number of
words read correctly per minute or the length of time it takes for a reader to complete a passage.
Prosody: is a linguistic term that refers to the rhythm and tonal aspects of speech; the musicality of
language. It includes variations in intonation, syllable prominence, and duration. Applying prosody
means they are emphasizing

Critical Reflection Of An Organization
Critical reflection Critical reflection should help members of the organization to see changes in a
different way and to uncover the underlying interests that are hidden in obvious management
practices. One should understand that these practices are social constructs and become aware of
the role one plays in the production and reproduction of these practices (Darwin et al., 2002).
Critical reflection does not come easily, but develops from resistance against social restrictions. In
this sense, soft management techniques have the paradoxical effect to weaken the capacity of staff
to reflect critically on labor situations (Alvesson Willmott, 1992). Hence the skeptical view that
critical theorists have on management phenomena such as empowerment and teamwork (Hardy
Leiba O Sullivan, 1998; Boje Rosile, 2001; Sewell, 2001; Lincoln et al., 2002) In what follows,
we explain how critical reflection leads to insights about the power relations in change. Adepts of
the critical discourse are convinced that strategic change has everything to do with influence, power

While these views describe the requirements to build effective structures, critical discourse will
point out the irrationality of these beliefs by revealing how the yet overpowering efficiency and
effectiveness is sacrificed to safeguard the privileges of the powerful. According to critical
discourse there are fundamental structural differences in terms of access to power in which politics
is an inevitable reaction to the unfair distribution of resources in organizations. Organizational
politics is not just a matter of self interest, but also a struggle between opposing class interests in
existing elitist power structures. Critical discourse examines the ways in which specific groups
strive to make social constructions that operate in their own interests appear natural and so

The Best Daughter And World s Cheapest Cup Of Coffee
Keith walked into Mars Investigations, ready to be met with the world s best daughter and world s
cheapest cup of coffee. She didn t usually beat him to the office on Saturday mornings, and
truthfully he was a little worried about a trend where his seventeen year old daughter was putting in
obscene amounts of overtime, and how many hours they d been spending apart. But that concern
increased tenfold when he was met with Eli Navarro, known PCH er, sitting next to his daughter on
their lobby room couch.
Dad, The world s best daughter smiled with a caught in the cookie jar twist on her face.
Sheriff. Weevil nodded his head noncommitally. I needed Veronica s help with a math thing.

I ve heard it be referred to as pixie spy magic, if that makes you feel better. It s what makes me so
hard to say no to. She winked slow, confident he was on board at least with what he knew of the
plan.
Fine. This is me, not saying no. When I need something Weevil started.
You got it, vato . I promise to even keep my questions to a lesser multiple of ten. She made a
crossing motion across her heart, and despite his lack of faith in that notion, he shrugged.
See ya, V. Rolling his eyes, fighting a smile, Weevil left, vowing to be as big a pain in Lamb s ass
as he could; damn Veronica Mars.
Dad, Veronica gathered her stuff calling into his office. I m going out for a case I ll see you at
home later. Your messages are on my desk and your lunch s in the fridge. There s two checks to

Before her dad had a chance to stop her and ask about Weevil s tutoring session, Veronica took off

Art Briles Case Study
It s a crazy world that we live in.
So crazy, in fact, that even when a coach turns a blind eye while a massive sexual assault scandal
implodes the very program he helped turn into a national powerhouse, is still considered one of the
premiere coaching candidates in college football.
Art Briles, the soon to be 61 year old former Baylor Head Coach is looking for work. His entire
life, both playing and coaching has been spent in the state of Texas, dating back to his playing days
from 1974 1977 for Houston. Since then, Briles has worked his way through the ranks to a 99 65
record, as well as becoming one of the best talent developers in the entire country.
Under Briles tutelage, Baylor has sent players like Josh Doctson, Bryce Petty, Robert ... Show more

Since 2013, Briles compiled some pretty impressive recruiting classes given the state of Baylor as a
less attractive version of the Texas Longhorns. Respectively, Baylor ranked 41st, 36th, 26th, and
27th from 2013 2016 according to 247Sports. In that same span, Malzahn managed the 10th, 8th,
6th, and 9th best recruiting classes in the country.
The kicker between the two class rankings is what was done with them. From 2013 2016, Briles
compiled a 32 7 record at Baylor, while Malzahn was 28 15 with a 13 12 SEC record as mentioned
before. In conference, Baylor was 22 5 under Briles from 2013 2016. One thing Briles knows how
to do is win inside his conference, something Malzahn has struggled with mightily since taking over
for the Tigers.
If Malzahn does lose his job at Auburn, and Briles is considered, it may just be the best move the
Tigers could make from a football standpoint. If you re looking at the media scrutiny and off field
issues Briles brings with him, then it makes no sense at all. Briles is a public relations disaster
right now, but could soon begin repairing his image through speaking and apologizing if he even
remotely hears or feels that he s in the running for major coaching

Information Technology
This portion of the report will cover several important topics. These different topics are the
network, the Era software, the overall Web setup and offerings, the reasons and process behind our
migration from Windows XP to Windows 7, the servers we use and how/why we use them the way
we do, the FirstLook Software, Contact Management and Dealer Mine. All of these different parts
can, do and must work together to ensure that our overall daily operations remain solid,
cohesive and allow us the ability to keep serving our clients in an effective and tangible way. An
integral part of the Central Maine Motors information technology framework is its network, and
this is as it should be. One thing that is not optional in the eyes of the proposal team is to have
all of the individual sites networked together in a cogent and common sense way. There should
be no orphan sites that are not visibly and obviously connected to related sites/pages that could
or definitely would be relevant. Another decision made is that all workstations need to be
running some iteration of Windows. For workstations this would be Windows XP at the oldest
as that is no longer actively being supported by Microsoft and it s now two generations behind
the current iteration of Windows with the release of Windows 8. Windows Blue (i.e. Windows 8.1)
is already in the works for 2013, apparently. There will be a variety of servers employed. For
example, applications will be run on one

Another talismanic visual and material object that aims to protect the individual from the harm
of the glance of the eye is this bracelet which bares the depiction of the Evil Eye. The bracelet is
made of glass and is richly coloured varying from blue, yellow, and red, with the evil eye painted
around the bracelet four times. It is believed that this talismanic object and 32 other bracelets like
this one, comes from Upper Egypt and began to be made during the MamlЕ«k period. This is the
only amulet which would have been worn in this chapter, not to suggest that talisman in the form
of jewellery was not practiced, however material sources of amulets and jewellery which
performed as talisman are scarce in the MamlЕ«k period, or may simply be unpublished... Show

With the ulumas desire to purify Islam from the occult, and contemplating that talisman would lead
to idolatry, surely then it would be inaccurate to conclusively claim that the occult science
deteriorated during the MamlЕ«k period as has been the conventional historical paradigm. Michael
Dols, through an analysis of numerous sources, has contended that the use of the occult science in
Medieval Islam was more prevalent than previously acknowledged in the scholastic field. Al Saleh
corroborates with Dols, by arguing that the continuous conquests in the name of Islam engendered
an increase in Islamic magical beliefs, because cultural encounter and exchange were inevitable.
Similarly, to the refutation of astrology, the discontentment shown towards talisman by the
traditionalist implies that the practice and belief of talisman had reached levels of apprehension for
the traditionalist. Livingston acknowledges this by highlighting that in the 14th century, a popular
belief in the occult science had been seen by some to endanger the religious foundation of Islamic
MamlЕ«k. Furthermore, some historians suggest that there was a belief among the amД«rs in the
talismanic influences of ancient carved statues, conceivably of pharaonic origins, within the
MamlЕ«k period. Indeed, then the use of the talisman and the occult was part of the mainstream
medieval MamlЕ«k culture. It may have not been acknowledged previously, as the number of
published textual sources concerning the occult science during MamlЕ«k period is difficult to
come across. Moreover, deliberating the visual and material evidence discussed in this chapter, we
come see that the occult manifested in many forms, ranging from paper scrolls to jewellery.
Remarkably, textual occultist treatises were far

Ability Grouping In Australia
The literature also suggested that some schools in Australia practice ability grouping in order to
address the learning needs of all students so that they are able to achieve high student outcomes in
school as well as in national examinations such as the Australia s National Assessment Literacy and
Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests.
Conclusion
A summary of the major agreements and disagreements about the focus area
The major point of contention in ability grouping is that it may create learning gaps and widen
inequality of educational opportunities among the ability groups. Whole class instruction has
prevailed in schools for a long time with the belief that it presents the same stimulation and
opportunity for all the students. However, one cannot

Networking Skills Of The Creative Industry Demesugh Aber Coventry University 20th April 2015 3794979 Networking Skills In The Creative Industry Networks exist to foster self help, to exchange information, to change society, improve productivity and work life, and to share resources. They are structured to transmit information in a way that is quicker, with more high touch, and more energy efficient than any other process we know. ~ John Nasibitt, Megatrends Introduction (Section 1) There is a sure component of truth to the way that networking all by itself is to a degree pointless when contrasted with the capacity to depend upon others and promptly accomplish an imparted or common result from the relationship with individual networkers. With that out of the way, the following paper will concentrate particularly upon the meaning of networking, how is accomplished to, the profits of performing it, the skills essential for powerful networking and in addition an analysis of my individual network; up to and including a talk of what people or groups are right now included inside the network, where potential future networks may lie, and how the network map may be changed or separated later on keeping in mind the end goal to assist future needs. The Power Of A Child s Imagination Muhanad Alenezi Film Studies 101 November 19, 15 The Power of a Child s Imagination Guillermo del Toro, a respected director has been credited for many of his films. Among his popular Pan s Labyrinth, del Toro exposes his true power as a filmmaker in his movie as the innocent is lured by the power of imagination. Ofelia s traumatic young experiences are influencing her imaginary gateways to new worlds. In this movie, Guillermo del Toro uses different elements of film style to get an insight of Ofelia s vivid and detailed imagination of how her imaginary world is much preferred over her realistic world. At the begging of the movie, we can see del Toro s use of mise en scene appear to set the mood of the film. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Del Toro s use of lighting and color allowed us to explore and comprehend Ofelia s thoughts and shows clues for the movie s implicit meaning. Lighting used in Ofelia gives us a better understanding between her reality and fantasy. A strong example would be towards the end of the movie when her father shoots Ofelia. The colors turned dark and as the whole place went shadowy showing the misery of Ofelia s realistic world as she dies slowly. Suddenly, bright yellow lights pervaded the scene as Ofelia turn into Princess Moana. Del Toro s slight change of color had created two completely different worlds, one where imagination provides immortality, and a realistic one where death is not an option. Ofelia s room is dark and there is barely any light, which portrays her reality. Nevertheless, in the mystical underground of the pale man s home the light is relatively brighter, which just goes to show that Ofelia s realistic life is depressing. Her imagination, however, is not astonishing but is preferred over her reality. She enters the paranormal underground wearing a full green dress and Ofelia s face is saturated. Green is the color of nature; it symbolizes freshness, fertility, and holds with it a strong emotional correspondence with safety. The color of her dress has successfully shown her dream of escaping the real world and entering the unknown world. This indirectly indicates Ofelia s passionate personality when she is aware that her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet is without doubt one of the most well known love story. Throughout the five acts of the play, one tragedy follows another, with the famous suicide of Romeo and Juliet as a tragic conclusion. Throughout the play, it may seem that Romeo caused these events to unfold, however it is unjust to say that he bears all responsibility for the tragedy. The decisions, actions and circumstances that other characters made and faced have also contributed to the tragic outcome. Romeo himself admits that he is driven by fate: I fear too early for my mind misgives / Some consequences yet hanging in the stars (Act1 Scene4 Lines106 107). However, even if Romeo and Juliet did not meet at the Capulets ball, fate could make the star crossed lovers meet at another time, as an important task has to be fulfilled as the result of this death mark d love . Another major factor in the play is the family feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. Without the feud, the young lovers may be together and may not have to act is such desperation that had driven them to commit suicide. The feud has a direct impact on the actions characters decide from the very beginning, thus, it is another important deciding factor regarding the outcome of the play. Though the answer may differ between different people, the main reason why most students dread school is because we have to go to school almost everyday and work, receiving no reward. There is nothing to look forward to in school and though the idea may sound absurd, students should get paid for good grades. School is work, it s difficult and it takes up our entire day, filling the rest of our free time with homework or topics to study. If we got paid for doing good in school, then we would be encouraged to keep up the hard work and we would put more effort in school. Meaning that the next generation of adults would be well educated and would benefit society in many ways. Getting paid for good grades would also help us see the responsibility that comes with money. It would also help prepare us for life after school because we would know how to spend our money wisely, so in other words, students should get paid for good grades because school is work, we would be more encouraged to be diligent and we would learn the responsibility that comes with money. First off, school requires a mental effort which by definition is considered to be work. Since we go to school for 8 hours every day and do that about 180 days per year, we should get paid if we keep our grades up because it s hard to do. Keeping good grades requires lots of hard work and effort. It also requires time, which some of us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark Z. Jacobson). Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods of producing electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are more preferred than the toxic burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of greenhouse gases (Health Research Funding). However, I believe that the disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power plants demean the advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy problems. The disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long lasting destructive effects on the environment and health. Health effects Accidents A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act as the heat source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal power stations work similarly, where heat is used to generate steam which drives a turbine connected to a generator that produces electricity (European Nuclear Society). Oedipus Relationship Between Hamlet and Gertrude The Oedipal Relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, Shakespeare portrays Hamlet with the same types of behaviors and frustrations in humans that Sigmund Freud saw at a much later date. When the relationship between Hamlet and his mother is analyzed Freud s oedipal complex theory comes to mind. Sigmund Freud first wrote about his theory in his book An Interpretation of Dreams in 1899. Simply put, Freud states that it is normal for children to have sexual desires for their parent of the opposite sex. He says that it is also normal to have feelings of hatred for the other parent that is of the same sex as the child. Most children experience these feelings between the ages of three and five, ... Hamlet also makes many allusions to beds and sex in the scene because beds are where most sexual activity occurs. An example of this is when Hamlet says: In the rank sweat of an enseamented bed Stew d (3.4 . l. 93 96) It is possible that here Shakespeare wanted to show how Hamlet s rage brought out all his repressed sexually desires for his mother because of Hamlet s concentration on Gertrude s sex life. All of these words come out in Hamlet s rage because before he had repressed them. It can be best explained by Freud when he sates the complex which is thus formed is doomed to early repression (Freud 51) but it has a lasting influence from the unconscious. (Freud 51) It could be concluded from a Freudian point of view that in this scene Hamlet s repressed sexual desire for his mother surfaces due to his rage in a form of sexual allusions. The significance of the closet scene taking place in Gertrude s bedroom is also important to look at because the privacy and intimacy of the bedroom add a new dimension when Hamlet s and Gertrude s relationship is examined. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete prolongs local bucklingof the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. While Barabas has already proved his evil and can therefore talk of his crimes, the unknown Ithamore has to convince the audience of his lowliness by listing his crimes, and so he is doomed to fall prey to Bellamira s lusty wiles before becoming just another notch on Barabas belt of vengeance. Barabas continues making alliances, being betrayed, and exacting revenge on his betrayers, proving true the axiom the enemy of my enemy is my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pietro della Vigna was an italian dipomat who took committed suicide. In the Inferno, written by Dante Alghieri, it shows Dante s journey through the nine circles of hell. In each of the circles of hell, there is a sin that is committed and people get punished for what they have done wrong. Marilyn was worried because she sexually attracts men but she is into women and not being heterosexual was not accepted at that time. Many people praised her for being perfect but internally and mentally, she had many problems and Monroe has to worry about keeping her image ( Review: Hollywood ). For her actions, Dante would place her in circle two, seven, and eight. Circle two is lust and her affairs with different men shows that she was with them because of her own pleasure and she also had sexual relationships with women. Her relationships with women is also a sin in circle seven which is violence against God, specifically homosexuality because God created us so that a man could be with a woman. Monroe is a panderer and seducer from circle eight because she was in a sexual relationship with many people. Sexuality and homosexuality is being accepted today and people are more open about who they are attracted to and they respect other s sexuality but back then, heterosexuality was what is right. More people have become less modest today and are not afraid of expressing themselves in different ways. Violence and crimes are both viewed as a negative thing in our society. Cute openings aside, Mr. Anastas has a significant amount of gall calling his private school teacher Mr. Sideways when it seems, to me, that he is the one with the skewed vision. What of the successful businessman who one day awakens to find that in a moment of clarity, his heart has softened and his greed has shifted to giving? He no longer works towards making money for the sake of wealth, but rather making money to give to those who need it. There are countless stories of these types of individuals. • 30. Francesco Borromini Research Paper Francesco Borromini is the most quintessential Baroque architect of all time. Though he was born in Canton Ticino in the Alps, he came to Rome early and remained for the rest of his life. He was suspicious and dedicated, evident in that he carefully supervised his designs from models, to drawings, and even to the completed structure. His works, such as the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane and the church of Sant Agnese in Agone, still stand today and continue to show his amazing skill and expertise, and they still show his unrelenting pursuit of perfection. The church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane is Borromini s first independent commission. He received the commission from Cardinal Francesco Barberini in 1934, but Barberini s initial interest in funding the church had diminished, causing the project to go through financial difficulties... To increase the originality of the plan, Borromini disrupted the longitudinal stress drastically. He extended the transverse arms so that the eye would be led to the left and right and away from the high altar. The wall area was also changed so that the crossing became an exact octagon. Borromini s chief contribution was his facade. By the time he resigned, the facade reached cornice level and the dome was completed as far as the lanterns. When Carlo Rainaldi returned he hollowed out the piers, providing space for altars with retables and space for oratories. The church of San Carlo and the church of Sant Agnese have a few similarities, the most obvious one being that both are Roman churches by Borromini. • 31. Abigail Adams Sparknotes Abigail Adams was a wise and educated woman that had one wonderful but challenging life. Like any other women in the 1700s, she grew up to become someone s wife, bear children and live in the private life of her husband s house. Abigail has a slightly different story than other women though. She grew up with her sisters and brother and had a tutor so they became literate, which was not a thing for women. Educated men didn t want a wife that was smart, they wanted someone to take care of them and the children and just about nothing else. In the following paragraphs we will talk about who the author is, a back story of who Abigail is, and the thesis of the book as a whole. The author of this book, Charles W. Aker, was born in Indianapolis, April 2, 1920 to Ira and Mary Bird Akers. He was a US Navy vet and served in World War II in 1942 to 1946. After he fought in WWII he became a history teacher at the Eastern Nazarene College in 1948 then became the Director of Quincy Junior College in 1959. He then taught at Geneva College in Pennsylvania after which he went to Oakland University in 1966 and was appointed as chair of the history department in 1968. It may be useful to start with some of the key business principles he has vocalized and to refer to his background from there. His first principle relates to his own personal responsibility for the consequences associated with his business decisions. He has noted somewhat dramatically that if anyone has to go to jail as a result of following his direction, he should be the first to go. He also stated during his IPO in New York that if shareholders were unhappy, he would be willing to buy the company back from them. It is not clear whether this is a realistic suggestion, but the sentiment is certainly rare. This sense of personal responsibilityoften derives from starting in a position where one intimately knows all of his colleagues. This was the case when Alibaba began. Another of Ma s core principles has been to maintain a sense of direction. As the CEO is responsible for setting the mission and the aim of a company, this job also entails expressing this to leading management the company as a whole as well as setting in place the process to execute it. Looking back, Ma has been instrumental in the company s continual innovation, acquisition and expansion. This progress is reminiscent of clear task oriented goals. Ma is careful to remind business leaders that a sense of modesty is helpful to the learning process. He claimed he is always happy when he has a student who knows something he does not. The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. This relates to Jeanne because she states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the War Department authority to take her father. The iconic scene of the two girls kissing and driving off the canyon into their death is present even today in pop culture and referred back by those who liked it. Although the kiss in the scene was not a romantic kiss, it captured the love between the two girls, not a romantic homosexualised love, but a heteronormal sisterhood type of love. Also, their faces prove that they died happy, and chose to die not only because they had no other choice but because that way they had agency as to what would happen to them and how they would die. The ending is empowering to women, because the women have the power of choice, even though they die. Unlike other films we have seen in class such as Vertigo and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon where the women who die do not seem happy or content with their demise. Throughout the film both Thelma and Louise are fighting against the patriarchy they must endure daily and a life they no longer want to live, in a society where they cannot fully express who they are. The women decide to go on a girl s weekend, from there they run into various predicaments that eventually lead to their deaths. When Louise picks up Thelma, she asks how did Daryll let you come? and she admits she did not tell him. This moment in the film shows how repressed these women were. It is accurate to describe this as someone who is very pessimistic, or even a little bit depressed. Therefore I made the tone of my melody very dark and not inspiring to reflect the personality of the poem. In each subsequent bar I decrease the initial notedown by a note to represent how the author believes that there is no reason or motivation for living life. It is seen in each bar that I begin an upward trend with each initial note but towards the end of each bar I placed a chord that sounds like it is disrupting the flow of progress and motivation. I see pessimism as a dangerous entity that can harm the happiness of others and I believe it is clearly seen with the scheme in which I have wrote my melody. In the beginning of the 5th bar I begin an upward trend of each subsequent initial note that emphasizes the author s slight change in tone, form completely negative to only slightly negative, indicating that there might be a change in the author s thoughts. But as the melody continues to build up it all comes crashing down once the author wrote throwing the battle , and Would you kindly direct me to hell? . The decreasing melody of sixteenth notes emphasizes the throwing of the battle. A battle is something that is built up and the end of a battle a victor is decided, but instead of building up the author decides to throw the battle. Finally, the last note represent hell . • 41. The Matrix Movie Analysis Danny Warren ANTH 2306 R11362526 Final Essay: Question 1 In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each film. The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word. The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives living there. Critical Reflection Of An Organization Critical reflection Critical reflection should help members of the organization to see changes in a different way and to uncover the underlying interests that are hidden in obvious management practices. One should understand that these practices are social constructs and become aware of the role one plays in the production and reproduction of these practices (Darwin et al., 2002). Critical reflection does not come easily, but develops from resistance against social restrictions. In this sense, soft management techniques have the paradoxical effect to weaken the capacity of staff to reflect critically on labor situations (Alvesson Willmott, 1992). Hence the skeptical view that critical theorists have on management phenomena such as empowerment and teamwork (Hardy Leiba O Sullivan, 1998; Boje Rosile, 2001; Sewell, 2001; Lincoln et al., 2002) In what follows, we explain how critical reflection leads to insights about the power relations in change. If Malzahn does lose his job at Auburn, and Briles is considered, it may just be the best move the Tigers could make from a football standpoint. If you re looking at the media scrutiny and off field issues Briles brings with him, then it makes no sense at all. Briles is a public relations disaster right now, but could soon begin repairing his image through speaking and apologizing if he even remotely hears or feels that he s in the running for major coaching ... • 48. MIS Group Project Information Technology This portion of the report will cover several important topics. These different topics are the network, the Era software, the overall Web setup and offerings, the reasons and process behind our migration from Windows XP to Windows 7, the servers we use and how/why we use them the way we do, the FirstLook Software, Contact Management and Dealer Mine. All of these different parts can, do and must work together to ensure that our overall daily operations remain solid, cohesive and allow us the ability to keep serving our clients in an effective and tangible way. An integral part of the Central Maine Motors information technology framework is its network, and this is as it should be. One thing that is not optional in the eyes of the proposal team is to have all of the individual sites networked together in a cogent and common sense way. There should be no orphan sites that are not visibly and obviously connected to related sites/pages that could or definitely would be relevant. Another decision made is that all workstations need to be running some iteration of Windows. For workstations this would be Windows XP at the oldest as that is no longer actively being supported by Microsoft and it s now two generations behind the current iteration of Windows with the release of Windows 8. Windows Blue (i.e. Windows 8.1) is already in the works for 2013, apparently. There will be a variety of servers employed. For example, applications will be run on one ... • 49. Mamljik Another talismanic visual and material object that aims to protect the individual from the harm of the glance of the eye is this bracelet which bares the depiction of the Evil Eye. The bracelet is made of glass and is richly coloured varying from blue, yellow, and red, with the evil eye painted around the bracelet four times. It is believed that this talismanic object and 32 other bracelets like this one, comes from Upper Egypt and began to be made during the MamlЕ«k period. This is the only amulet which would have been worn in this chapter, not to suggest that talisman in the form of jewellery was not practiced, however material sources of amulets and jewellery which performed as talisman are scarce in the MamlЕ«k period, or may simply be unpublished... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the ulumas desire to purify Islam from the occult, and contemplating that talisman would lead to idolatry, surely then it would be inaccurate to conclusively claim that the occult science deteriorated during the MamlЕ«k period as has been the conventional historical paradigm. Michael Dols, through an analysis of numerous sources, has contended that the use of the occult science in Medieval Islam was more prevalent than previously acknowledged in the scholastic field. Al Saleh corroborates with Dols, by arguing that the continuous conquests in the name of Islam engendered an increase in Islamic magical beliefs, because cultural encounter and exchange were inevitable. Similarly, to the refutation of astrology, the discontentment shown towards talisman by the traditionalist implies that the practice and belief of talisman had reached levels of apprehension for the traditionalist. Livingston acknowledges this by highlighting that in the 14th century, a popular belief in the occult science had been seen by some to endanger the religious foundation of Islamic MamlЕ«k. Furthermore, some historians suggest that there was a belief among the amД«rs in the talismanic influences of ancient carved statues, conceivably of pharaonic origins, within the MamlЕ«k period. Indeed, then the use of the talisman and the occult was part of the mainstream medieval MamlЕ«k culture. It may have not been acknowledged previously, as the number of published textual sources concerning the occult science during MamlЕ«k period is difficult to come across. Moreover, deliberating the visual and material evidence discussed in this chapter, we come see that the occult manifested in many forms, ranging from paper scrolls to jewellery. Remarkably, textual occultist treatises were far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Ability Grouping In Australia The literature also suggested that some schools in Australia practice ability grouping in order to address the learning needs of all students so that they are able to achieve high student outcomes in school as well as in national examinations such as the Australia s National Assessment Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests. Conclusion A summary of the major agreements and disagreements about the focus area The major point of contention in ability grouping is that it may create learning gaps and widen inequality of educational opportunities among the ability groups. Whole class instruction has prevailed in schools for a long time with the belief that it presents the same stimulation and opportunity for all the students. However, one cannot ...
