The Negative Influence Of Bumper Stickers On People
According to the definition of bumper sticker by the online dictionary The Free Dictionary by
Farlex, a bump sticker is a label affixed to the rear windscreen or bumper of a motor vehicle
displaying an advertisement or slogan . Bumper stickers are usually use to diffuse message that
can have an effect on people. Most people use it to defend a cause, or their point of view on a
social or political situation or even to promote their business. I use to see a lot of bumper
stickers on people s cars, but one of them got my attention. This sticker was made with pink color
and a message on it was saying Hope shines brightest in the darkest moments. Also, it has a pink
ribbon. This pink ribbon, for people who know it, is the symbol for the fight

Characteristics Of Beowulf A Savior To The People
Beowulf Essay:
Characteristics of Beowulf
Agnes, Cheong Pui Lei
University of Macau
In the period of Nordic heroic age, the appearance of Beowulf seems a savior to the people. The
story of Beowulf, who reminds that in the last years of Eastern Han, a man said to Cao cao, Out
of the chaos come the heroes , is also suitable to describe Beowulf undoubtedly, the riots need to be
quelled, and he must be the hero who is able to save the world and people during the disorder era, it
is surrounding by danger and oppression: monsters and retaliation. Beowulf has three battles with
the enemies, the monster Grendel invades the kingdom, Heorot; the mother of Grendel revenges for
her son; and the dragon attacks his homeland injured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the background of Beowulf, it is said that the name includes tow meaning. The
first one, Beo , is the short name in Nordic lexics, wulf is equal to wolf , thus, it could be
translated as the wolf of the north ; second one is, the meaning of Beo is equal to Bear in
English, it implied that to be a man as strong as the bear. In fact, Beowulf deserves a name like
that, a man who dares to against the vicious side without fear and dares to die. Throughout three
battles, he never holds back before the peril, and to do everything in his power during the fight
either enemy or fellow. In the initial fight with Grendel, he is unarmed and in one on one
combat, eventually, he tears Grendel s arm apart and bring the head as trophy of triumph. The
second battle is with Grendel s mother, one with full of hatred to Beowulf, they fight under the
water for a long time; incredibly, Beowulf won and killed Grendel s mother. The third fight with
the dragon, no matter how weak Beowulf is, even his braveness support him to hit dragon
mortally, unfortunately he is injured and betrayed by the warriors he trusted. Nevertheless, the
spirit of never give up and the magnificent feat impressed people after he died. This spirit of
courage is similar to Samurai spirit in Bushido from Japan. In Samurai spirit, courage and bravery
are different, Courage is doing what is right. It also can be referred to the situation of Beowulf, the
battles he fight for is doing the right thing for his family, homeland, and

Pride And Prejudice Predicting The Future Of Women Essay
Myracle Tyson

Honors English IV
29 May 2015
Pride and Prejudice: Predicting the future of the Modern Woman. Women are complex and difficult
beings that may, or may not, be meant to be fully understood by the brain of their male
counterparts. In terms of independence women rightfully deserve their own apart from men,
needing the privacy to freely think and judge things on their own. An overbearing male can destroy
the female thoughts with the influence of their own independent thoughts. Women were made
different, but not as different, from men for a purpose although people have differentiating
reasons of their own opinions. Although women were not always bold enough to speak or even
think about how they deserved independence and privacy from men, the notion was always there,
even in women who lived hundreds of years ago. In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice the main
character, Elizabeth Bennet, embodies what was to become of most modern day women, seeking
the privacy from men to obtain her own form of independence and free will. Her constant rejection
of being publicly open towards males gives her the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rejection, insisting entirely on the absence of men so that she can prosper productively in society
as her own woman (Alafaireet 1). Mr. Collins most likely did not expect to be rejected by a
young, middle class girl like Elizabeth and it eventually led to anger and constant pursuance of his

Secular Humanism Rejects The Idea And Existence Of God
Secular humanism rejects the idea and existence of God. It is a philosophy of life, which views
that humans are the supreme beings of the universe. They believe that the creation of the universe
and life is an incredible coincidence. They believe that human existence is fully explained without
any references to spiritual occurrences. Secular humanists have no religion and reject the idea of
faith and spirituality. They believe that science is the only source of knowledge and reveals the
laws of nature and is measurable.
Does God exist?
Catholic view
Through out history people have believed in God and have practiced religion. Religion provides
meaning for people and it helps people answer the existential questions of life and also gives
people a purpose bigger than their own. Christians believe that God shows us the way to meaning
and purpose.
There are three arguments for the existence of god the ontological, cosmological and religious
experience. Ontological argument is for God is based on the ideas about nature of being,
existence and reality. This argument is based entirely on reason. You shouldn t have to go out and
looking for physical evidence that God existence we can work out that God exists just by thinking
about it. According to this argument God is perfection. God is all powerful and something can t be
called God unless it is perfect.
Aquinas who was one of the greatest Christian theologians explains the cosmological explanation.
Aquinas takes the existence

Advanced Skeletons
Topic: Advanced Prosthetics / Exoskeletons Do people ever think about what would happen if
they lost an influential body part and would no longer be able to perform everyday activities like
they used to? This is a very serious issue but luckily there are multiple ways to solve it.
Amputations, the surgical removal of limbs, can be either the entire limb or just a portion of it
(Dictionary.com). Although amputations are only performed on about 0.5 percent of people, this
number is bound to increase hand in hand with obesity and diabetes (cite source). Prostheticsare
artificial limbs that replace these amputated limbs (Dictionary.com). Prosthetics and exoskeletons

The abilities of a successfully functioning exoskeleton machine seem to have no boundaries. For
example, Juliano Pinto, a professional soccer player from Brazil was fitted for an exoskeleton
that could be controlled by his brain. In the Men s World Cup game, Pinto instructed his legs to
kick a soccer ball, and believe it or not it worked (Eveleth, 2015). Another individual that has
found success in the exoskeleton is Robert Woo. Woo was paralyzed from the waist down. when
fourteen thousand pounds of steel tubes fell off a crane, up twenty five stories high, and onto his
body. The ReWalk exoskeleton was able to get him walking again and he noted that this device
changed his life (Eveleth, 2015). Today, the exoskeleton continues to prosper as fantasy ideas
sketched out on paper actually become a reality. The XOS exoskeleton invented by Steve Jacobsen
is the most recent and advanced exoskeleton in existence at this time (Wilson, 2013). This
exoskeleton was specifically designed for military use. It would allow for increased strength and
endurance and protection against bullets and other weapons which would mean less injuries that
need immediate medical assistance (Wilson, 2013). Although this innovation seems limitless, the
power and battery life pose some serious challenges. Along with difficulties relating to power, other
problems are related to height and weight

The Holocaust Denial
Growing up, people learn about the past of their own kind and of the world they live in. One reads
history in books, hears history from parents, and studies history at schools. Knowing the history of
one s ancestors allows one to understand the past and change for a better future. Significant battles,
civil movements, and reformations teach people valuable lessons and help the society to improve.
The Holocaust, one of the most well known history events, represents a perfect historical example
of discrimination and racism. However, a number of people started to deny the known facts of the
Holocaust and even the event itself. Despite of what these people say and how convincing their
reasons are, this piece of history is to be protected from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Holocaust was inhuman. The IMT defined crimes against humanity as murder, extermination,
enslavement, deportation...or persecutions on political, racial, or religious grounds (Trials).
Murder, extermination, persecutions all occurred during the Holocaust. Nonetheless the Nazis
tried to hide what was going on in Germany. After Soviet Union s attack in eastern Belarus, the
Germans began moving all the prisoners in every concentration camp in Europe. The Nazi did
not want the public, especially the Allies, to know the stories in these camps. They viewed these
prisoners as labors and bargain chips (Death Marches) and treated those poor men and women s
lives as dust under their feet. They kept the prisoners alive only because they were hostages , and
Germans needed those labors to work for them in order to continue fighting the war; in short, the
prisoners were still useful to the Nazis. Fortunately, no matter how hard the Germans tried to
cover up their crimes, the Allies found enough evidence for the trial after World War II. After the
Allied troops captured the concentration camps, the survivors testified and provided evidence for
British officials to use on the trials of Nazi war criminals (Testimony). The Allies sentenced the
criminals guilty, executed many of the high ranking Nazi officers, and officially ended the bloody
chaos. In the last few decades, a wave of

Sociology of Tourism
Introduction
We have to understand the several concepts by means of definition and its integration.
Tourism Hunziker and Krapf, in 1941, defined tourism as the sum of the phenomena and
relationships arising from the travel and stay of non residents, insofar as they do not lead to
permanent residence and are not connected with any earning activity. In 1976, the TourismSociety
of England s definition was: Tourism is the temporary, short term movement of people to destination
outside the places where they normally live and work and their activities during the stay at each
destination. It includes movements for all purposes. In 1981, the International Association of

Newell And Rubbermaid Case Study
At first glance, the merger of Newell and Rubbermaid seems very attractive. Newell had a proven
track record of acquiring companies and turning them around to deliver shareholder value. Since the
1960s, Newell had made over 35 strategic acquisitions of commodity producing manufacturing
firms with low operating margins. Acquisitions usually added to shelf space, increase supplier
power and rounded out Newell s good, better, best multiproduct offering. Also, acquired companies
were typically market leaders.
Rubbermaid was one of the most recognized brands in the world, known for its innovative products
and marketing. It also seemed that there was potential for synergies, especially if one looked at the
customer base and distribution channels of the two firms. But the $5B acquisition of Rubbermaid
would be their largest till date, and question to ask would be can Newell turn the company around
to ensure higher margins and ROI within a targeted period of time?
We can analyse the various synergies that could be achieved from this merger using the Eccles
Lane Wilson Framework in Exhibit 1.
No doubt the aim of the acquisition would be to Newellize Rubbermaid If we were to assume
that Newell would expect to make major changes in the first two years to achieve cost savings and
increase revenues, we would have to assume that Newell would achieve synergies across cost and
revenues right from the get go. Given that revenues of $2.4B and net income of $142M, and

Book Theif Love Quotes
The Power of Love The human heart feels things the eyes cannot see, and knows what the mind
cannot understand. This quote, stated by Robert Vallet, resonates with all human beings
irrespective of their race, religion, or culture. The Book Thief, written by Marcus Zusak and
narrated by death, tells an eye opening story from the perspective of a small group of Germans
who silently, secretly and courageously opposed Nazism during the time of the Holocaust. While
death is featured prominently throughout the story, ultimately, love shines through. This is seen
not only in The Book Thief, but in everyday life. Hence, Zusak s purpose in writing The Book
Thief is to expose his readers to the exceptional, yet beautiful power of love: how love can save a
person, change a person, and ultimately be everlasting. The bond of love between individuals has
the power to save lives. It supersedes the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and opportunities to learn were denied. In the United States, many states had schools that educated

Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 also known as Public Law 94 142 (P.L. 94

Minstrelsy Influence On American Culture

people have been exploited. Though the practice or tradition of minstrelsy no longer exists in the
way it did in the past, its long term effects are still present in today s music culture and society. To

A 1972 amendment tied increases in Social Security retirement benefits to increases in the
Consumer Price Index. In 1974, Social Security insurance was taken over by the Social Security
Administration, and in 1983 an amendment allowed partial taxation of the benefits given to upper
income recipients. In 1999, payroll deductions for Social Security were set at 6.2% of annual wages
below $72,600, and payroll deductions for Medicare were 1.45% of annual wages (no upper limit),
with employers contributing matching amounts. (Columbia Encyclopedia Infoplease) The rates
previously listed continue to increase, often annually. The Social Security tax for 2010 is 6.2% of

With all the tax revenue being generated, the next question often asked is; what is the best

some of the revenues be invested in stocks and bonds to generate higher returns. The panel was
divided over whether the money should be invested by the government or by individuals, as well as

Mythical Norm Affects The Construction Of Identity For...
The Mythical Norm affects the construction of identity for Ethnic Minority women. The Mythical
Norm is considered to be what is socially acceptable of an ideal man and woman based on many
factors including race, gender, class, and age. The Ethnic Minority women usually play the inferior
role in society, while the male plays the dominant role and promotes the idea of being superior. The
unit demonstrates the position women are perceived throughout society as they are forced to hide
their own beliefs and capabilities to satisfy the needs of the men. Without the woman s consent, they
are being taught to satisfy the men s standards to become the ideal woman. For example, in

when she recognizes how Asian American woman is lulled into believing that people perceive
her as being different from other Asian women (the submissive, subservient, ready to please, easy

an ordinary example of how the Mythical Norm comes back in place with the Ethnic Minority
women. In this case, the Mythical Norm plays a role in an Asian American woman s life as if she
is being controlled by the men in her life since in her cultural background the ideal women are to be
the caretaker in the household and nothing more. As well as in American Indian Women Managers:

Over the course of decades, thousands of catholic priests and bishops sexually abused thousands of
children. The Catholic Church attempted to cover up these incidents by re positioning church
leaders and has spent nearly 4 billion dollars over 65 years to redeem the church s name.
For years the catholic church was aware of priests sexualy abusing young, innocent children, and
instead of bringing the situation to awareness they shuffled these priests around to keep the good
name of the church intact. The statements shared in front of a Philadelphia jury are enough to bring
the coldest hearts to grief and the strongest stomachs to ache.

Salomon V Salomon And Co Ltd
Salomon v Salomon and Co Ltd (1897)
When was law firstly introduced? Laws where present for decades as people where punished for
breaking the laws. In regard to our case, which was in 1897. The case was between Salomon v
Salomon and Co Ltd, which is a person and a company he owned. He filled a case against his
company that the company owes him money and then the creditors of the company reverted the
case on him as being the owner he should be liable to pay them back as the company went to
liquidation.
Facts of the case
An entrepreneur called Aron Salomon started a company that produces boots and other leather
products. His children wanted to become partners with their father so Salomon started a new
company called Salomon and Co Ltd. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was paid 5,000 for his debentures. The money came from the sales of assets
Salomon claimed that the amount from the assets sold and bank balance was his, as he also
owned debentures in the company worth 9,000, which made the company liable to pay him back
the remaining amount. After this action the creditors of the company were afraid that the company
would not pay them back. The creditors resisted Salomon s action to claim the rest of the money
by filling a lawsuit against him that the balance of money available is owed to them rather than
him as he is considered the owner of the company and should be accounted for the liquidation and
pay them back from his own money if the balance from the company was not enough.
Rule of the Court
High Court
The case between Broderip v Salomon where Broderip sued Salomon to pay back the amount
Broderip owed the company, was first assigned to the high court with the judge Vaughan. We
know from the facts of the case that Broderip was paid 5,000. The court considered that the
company is an agent by which it was held by Salomon so the first court ruled that Salomon and
Co Ltd are considered as the same person but with different names so Salomon was held liable to
pay the creditors or in this case Broderip back his debenture amounts. Judge Vaughen ruled to
Broderip against Salomon and held Salomon liable to pay back the debenture amount remaining to
Broderip.

Basques had inhabited the southwestern corner of Europe before the Indo Europeans settled in the

Spanish. During the Middle Ages, several parts of the Basque territory were seized by Spaniards,
Gascons, and Catalans. All of the Basque territories was divided between France and Spainby the

Key Variables Related To Juvenile Delinquency
1.Introduction
Juvenile delinquency has been an emerging problem, involving much interest from researchers
around the world. In Robinson et al. (2015), juvenile delinquency can be defined as committing any
criminal offense, diagnosis of conduct disorders, substance use, or significant behavioral problems
at home or in the school. Painter (2010) stated, The National Advisory Mental Health Council Work
group on Child and Adolescent Mental Health Intervention Development and Deployment (2001)

Juvenile delinquency is a significant issue that lacks understanding and research needs to be done
to find possible factors, such as SES, that may play a role in the effectiveness of treatment
outcomes. An important shortcoming of the existing research is the lack of studies that examine
the data on delinquent outcomes to consider the possible impact of socioeconomic status (SES). In
Tiernan et al. (2015), they determined that demographic factors such as socioeconomic status have
been related to treatment outcomes in evidence based treatment. Research suggests that clinicians
should pay more attention to factors interfering with progress in cases with delinquent youth
(Tiernan et al., 2015). Importantly, none of these studies have examined the roles of socioeconomic
status in the perspective of understanding MST treatment efficiency (Robinson et al., 2015). The
purpose of the current study is to explore how effective Multisystemic therapy is on juvenile

I ve always had a very vague understanding and relationship with Catholicism. Growing up, my

child with three genetic parents. Their mtDNA comes from a donor female and their nuclear DNA

Mitochondrial disease is the malfunctioning of the mitochondria organelle located in every cell of

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen
and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped
Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique,
Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an
opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes
that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such
ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their
restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists
local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses
produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the
ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of
Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does.

do it? It wasn t easy.
Schindler started saving Jews in 1939, when he came to Krakow during the German invasion.
Looking for his own power in Krakow he opened up a small enamel shop near the Jewish ghetto.
He employed mainly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to Labour camps. In
1942 Schindler found out through some of his workers that many of the local Jews were being sent
to the brutal Plazow labour camp. Schindler had connections with the German government, which
came in handy. He convinced the S.S. and the Armaments Administration to let Schindler set up a
portion of the camp in his factory. He then took the unfit and unqualified for work, which spared
900 Jewish lives.
In October of 1944 he approached the Russian army to receive permission to re establish his once
defunct business as an armament production company in Bruunlitz. After negotiating with S.S.
officials Schindler was allowed to take some Jews with him. He took 700 Jews from the
Grossrosen camp, and 300 women from Auschwitz. These workers were given the best food,
clothing, shelter and medical care that Schindler could afford. He then heard that a train of
evacuated Jews from the Golezow camp were stranded nearby. Schindler once again pulled some

Heart of Darkness vs. Apocalypse Now Essay
In Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, both Joseph Conrad and Francis Ford Coppola create
similar statements through their creations as they both centralize their views upon the effects of
environmental changes that affect the human condition. The film Apocalypse Now vaguely reflects
a similar message pursued by Conrad s novella, due to the difference in time period, place setting,
and circumstances in which the film was created. Conrad wrote his novella during British
colonization, focusing upon imperialism. Coppola s film similarly focused upon the barbaric nature
of man, which demonstrates the insanity of the Vietnam War. In Heart of Darkness

Kurtz s lack of restraint and hunger for ivory consumes not only his soul but drains all of his
physical existence. Upon seeing him, Marlow states, I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the
bones of his arm waving (126) . Conrad focuses on the physical features of Kurtz to display the
madness that has consumed him. However, though Kurtz s body is deteriorating, Kurtz s mind
continues to thrive. Conrad shows this in Marlow s shock of witnessing a flame of passion that
remains in Kurtz s eyes as he converses without signs of exhaustion (126). Conrad continues to
describe Kurtz as a shadow composed of tranquility and satisfaction. Conrad s incorporation of
this detail signifies the evil and greed that consumes Kurtz and is reflected through his physique.
However, the power of Kurtz s presence is personified through the action of his words. As the
strength in his voice captures Marlow s attention, it merely reflects his influence upon his
followers. The power reflected through his voice displayed his confidence as well as his position
as a leader for the natives. Hi demeanor displays an air of arrogance that makes others feel less
equal to him. Those who follow him fear him, but also continue to respect him. In Apocalypse Now,
Coppola creates a similar, however unique parallel structure as Willard meets Kurtz.

Rights of Nature
We must take care of our environment by continually educating our youth on natural selection and
the four laws of ecology, and supporting environmental movements that recognize the rights of
nature.
Impacts of climate change are increasingly felt by Earth s inhabitants including us, humans. The
current warming, which is only one degree Celsius, has affected different ecological processes such
as species genetics, seasonal response, overall distribution, and even morphology (Hance). Species
are suddenly disappearing. A study conducted by PLOS Biology found that more than 450 plants

We still should maintain that the ecosystem consists of living species, which in their nature have
the right to evolve. Significantly, in 2008 Ecuador granted a statutory right on nature in which a
sustainable model of progress guarantees the conservation of biodiversity and the recovering
capacity of ecosystems.
For example, fish and other species in a river may be recognized as having the right to exist and
evolve (Martin). Ecologists are then pursuing legal protection of nature s right to evolve. This is an
appropriate response to Darwin s implications of natural selection. But why such law does not seize
the attention of the global audience?
Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina are the only countries, so far, which embrace the right of nature to
evolve (Laitos). Instead, we misuse natural resources which results in health issues and pollution
(Laitos). We also accelerate the nature s course to evolutionthrough artificial selection or selective
breeding.
Artificial selection gets in the development of nature, which in turn produces lesser quality of a
species. As Darwin puts it: How fleeting are the wishes and efforts of man! , How short his time,
and consequently how poor will his products be, compared with those accumulated by nature during
whole geological periods. (Martin)
In other words, we weaken the art of nature. We selfishly only look at our own interest. Our own

Caterpillar, obviously, has taken on a large amount of risk to itself because of this. If Caterpillar
were forced to liquidate its assets and pay off its debt, it would have a very hard time trying.
Therefore, Caterpillar s receivable account is a real weakness to the corporation as a whole.
Inventories
Inventories have been valued $871 million, an increase of $150 million from last year. This can
be viewed in a multitude of ways. Caterpillar may be expecting larger sales volume, and are trying
to compensate. Caterpillar could have inventory control problems. Usually, inventory increases are
viewed as a negative with a company that should be in theory practicing a just in time approach.
Cash
Cash on hand is $398 million. This is only a $110 million increase from December 31, 1999. This
means relatively little, as the cash flows for the corporation is what really matters. One look at the
statement of cash flows indicates that Caterpillar keeps capital expenditures consistent quarter after
quarter. The change in cash and short term investments indicate the company is removing most of
its liquidity. The movement from cash has been used to alleviate its debt.

The UK market with respect to MontGras:
Unlike the fragmented US market, the UK was not tiered and it was also one of the most
competitive export sources in the World. One major point to consider in this market is the tax
that is levied on alcoholic drinks which is 1 pound per bottle regardless of the retail price. This
would also mean that the export of Reservas would be more beneficial as compared to Varietals
(this is in line with the company s strategic decisions as well). Again in this case, MontGras has 2
options to decide in terms of partners. The first one is the distributor that the company has been
having for a while now (since 1996). The distributor had helped MontGras gain a good position in
restaurants and other retail market too (on premise and off premise). The second option is the
leading supermarket chain Tesbury, which with the help of few promotions made the total sales
skyrocket in just a few days.
The most likely option to choose would be the currently existing distributor since completely
siding with Tesbury would majorly go against the positioning strategy planned out by MontGras.
Also in my opinion, the high volume in sales (at Tesbury) was only due to the promotion event
which is just temporary (3 days) and we will have to look into the big picture i.e. sales round the
year.

then, and I was so confused. Because here was your governor, people you were meant to look up
to, teachers, politicians, family members, people that fed you and cared about you who were

Miep Gies Thesis
Helping people who are in danger is not a matter of courage but from making a decision that
every human being has to make in his life when he or she distinguishes between good and bad.
Miep Gies. The Medal of Honor, one of the highest medals that one can receive. Miep Gies, one
of the people in whom helped hide multiple Jewish families should get a Medal of Honor. She had
helped the aforementioned families with food, shelter and the necessary things needed for those
families to survive. One major factor in this decision is how long Miep kept the families in hiding.
The families were kept in hiding, with Miep s help for twenty five months, or about one year and
one month. This time may not seem that long, but keep in mind that during that time that the...

Honestly, it was also difficult for Miep, the caretaker of these families plus the others to keep
quiet about the Jewish families. Plus she had to try to get food to the families. Secondly, hiding
the families had been hard. Miep Gies had at the time broken a law. She mainly began breaking
the law by hiding the families and continuing to hide the families. She also had to try to get
resources to the families without being suspicious. Then, each family member had different
needs than another. Miep also had to get what these specific members wanted. This was most
likely a challenge, especially to smuggle the items. Some people may say that Miep Gies does
not deserve a Medal of Honor. These people are in the wrong. Miep has and until her death cared
for the families. She cared and hid the Jewish families, and by doing so she was risking her own
life. Every day for the twenty five months that the families were in hiding, she risked her life
knowing that if she was ever found out, then she might be killed, be put into a concentration camp,
have horrible things done to her. Miep had not abandoned the families at

Summary Of The Anchor Bible
In the Anchor Bible, Joesph A. Fitzmyer interprets the Gospel according to Luke. Fitzmyer starts
with Jesus continuing his journey through towns and villages and he is teach and continuing
towards Jerusalem. In verse 23 someone asked him, Sir is it true that only a few are to be
saved? Jesus answers to them in verse 24, Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell
you, will seek to get in, but will not be able to. Luke carries on to the second part of his account
with Jesus statements about salvation and reception or non reception into the kingdom (Luke 13:22
30) these statements give an outlook for the whole second part which are closely linked with the
two final parables which ended the first part. Both deal with... Show more content on

In these verses Fitzmyer finds similarities in passages in the Gospel according to Matthew. Verse
24 resembles the Mathhean sermon on the mount where Jesus talks about two gates and two
ways which lead to life or destruction. Luke s version only speaks of a narrow door, however
both have to do with a door. He believes Luke may have modified his source to create a tie. In the
Sacra Pagina passages Luke Timothy Johnson and Daniel J. Harrington give us an interpretation
on Luke 13:23 24 also. Johnson and Harrington feel this section gives the reader a challenge to
stay committed to Luke s validity in his gospel. Much like Joesph A. Fitzmyer s interpretation of
the Gospel according to Luke in the Anchor Bible, Luke s twist on 13:22 is very evident. Jesus
in again on his journey to Jerusalem. To that point of the reading it is still on the same page,
after that, this section is made up of two very different types of stories. The first story is what
we will focus on. We find two extremes of who will be at the banquet which is the kingdom of
God. Those who will be included and those who will be excluded we find in Luke 13:23 30. Luke
13:23 Someone said to him, Lord, are those who are being saved few in number? In saying
someone, Johnson and Harrington believe this refers to a statement from the

  • 5. Pride And Prejudice Predicting The Future Of Women Essay Myracle Tyson Ms. Faris Honors English IV 29 May 2015 Pride and Prejudice: Predicting the future of the Modern Woman. Women are complex and difficult beings that may, or may not, be meant to be fully understood by the brain of their male counterparts. In terms of independence women rightfully deserve their own apart from men, needing the privacy to freely think and judge things on their own. An overbearing male can destroy the female thoughts with the influence of their own independent thoughts. Women were made different, but not as different, from men for a purpose although people have differentiating reasons of their own opinions. Although women were not always bold enough to speak or even think about how they deserved independence and privacy from men, the notion was always there, even in women who lived hundreds of years ago. In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, embodies what was to become of most modern day women, seeking the privacy from men to obtain her own form of independence and free will. It is a philosophy of life, which views that humans are the supreme beings of the universe. They believe that the creation of the universe and life is an incredible coincidence. They believe that human existence is fully explained without any references to spiritual occurrences. Secular humanists have no religion and reject the idea of faith and spirituality. They believe that science is the only source of knowledge and reveals the laws of nature and is measurable. Does God exist? Catholic view Through out history people have believed in God and have practiced religion. Religion provides meaning for people and it helps people answer the existential questions of life and also gives people a purpose bigger than their own. Christians believe that God shows us the way to meaning and purpose. There are three arguments for the existence of god the ontological, cosmological and religious experience. Ontological argument is for God is based on the ideas about nature of being, existence and reality. This argument is based entirely on reason. You shouldn t have to go out and looking for physical evidence that God existence we can work out that God exists just by thinking about it. According to this argument God is perfection. God is all powerful and something can t be called God unless it is perfect. Aquinas who was one of the greatest Christian theologians explains the cosmological explanation. Advanced Skeletons Topic: Advanced Prosthetics / Exoskeletons Do people ever think about what would happen if they lost an influential body part and would no longer be able to perform everyday activities like they used to? This is a very serious issue but luckily there are multiple ways to solve it. Amputations, the surgical removal of limbs, can be either the entire limb or just a portion of it (Dictionary.com). Although amputations are only performed on about 0.5 percent of people, this number is bound to increase hand in hand with obesity and diabetes (cite source). Another individual that has found success in the exoskeleton is Robert Woo. The ReWalk exoskeleton was able to get him walking again and he noted that this device changed his life (Eveleth, 2015). Today, the exoskeleton continues to prosper as fantasy ideas sketched out on paper actually become a reality. The XOS exoskeleton invented by Steve Jacobsen is the most recent and advanced exoskeleton in existence at this time (Wilson, 2013). This exoskeleton was specifically designed for military use. It would allow for increased strength and endurance and protection against bullets and other weapons which would mean less injuries that need immediate medical assistance (Wilson, 2013). After Soviet Union s attack in eastern Belarus, the Germans began moving all the prisoners in every concentration camp in Europe. The Nazi did not want the public, especially the Allies, to know the stories in these camps. They viewed these prisoners as labors and bargain chips (Death Marches) and treated those poor men and women s lives as dust under their feet. They kept the prisoners alive only because they were hostages , and Germans needed those labors to work for them in order to continue fighting the war; in short, the prisoners were still useful to the Nazis. Newell had a proven track record of acquiring companies and turning them around to deliver shareholder value. Since the 1960s, Newell had made over 35 strategic acquisitions of commodity producing manufacturing firms with low operating margins. Acquisitions usually added to shelf space, increase supplier power and rounded out Newell s good, better, best multiproduct offering. Also, acquired companies were typically market leaders. The Mythical Norm is considered to be what is socially acceptable of an ideal man and woman based on many factors including race, gender, class, and age. The Ethnic Minority women usually play the inferior role in society, while the male plays the dominant role and promotes the idea of being superior. The unit demonstrates the position women are perceived throughout society as they are forced to hide their own beliefs and capabilities to satisfy the needs of the men. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment. The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique, Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does. This is one strength of ... There was almost nothing to see besides the desert itself. Excitement fluttered through my body as the plane landed, and people exited the plane. Annoyance, problems, and stress were forgotten on the plane when we finally walked out into the glistening sun. Used to the rude and impatient crowd in Chicago, my family and I anticipated to be at the airport for at least an hour, examining luggage after luggage until ours were found. It took us 15 minutes at most. Our next mission was to find a rental car agency. A few passengers from the flight realized we were a bit confused and that it was our first time in Arizona; one guided us over to a shuttle that would take us to an agency. He employed mainly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to Labour camps. In 1942 Schindler found out through some of his workers that many of the local Jews were being sent to the brutal Plazow labour camp. Schindler had connections with the German government, which came in handy. He convinced the S.S. and the Armaments Administration to let Schindler set up a portion of the camp in his factory. He then took the unfit and unqualified for work, which spared 900 Jewish lives. In October of 1944 he approached the Russian army to receive permission to re establish his once defunct business as an armament production company in Bruunlitz. Significantly, in 2008 Ecuador granted a statutory right on nature in which a sustainable model of progress guarantees the conservation of biodiversity and the recovering capacity of ecosystems. For example, fish and other species in a river may be recognized as having the right to exist and evolve (Martin). Ecologists are then pursuing legal protection of nature s right to evolve. This is an appropriate response to Darwin s implications of natural selection. But why such law does not seize the attention of the global audience? Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina are the only countries, so far, which embrace the right of nature to evolve (Laitos). Instead, we misuse natural resources which results in health issues and pollution (Laitos). We also accelerate the nature s course to evolutionthrough artificial selection or selective breeding. Artificial selection gets in the development of nature, which in turn produces lesser quality of a species.
