U.S. Foreign Policy Essay
Throughout the course of history, the United States has remained consistent with its national interest
by taking many different actions in foreign policy. There have been both immediate and long term
results of these actions. Foreign policy is the United States policy that defines how we deal with
other countries economically and politically. It is made by congress, the president, and the people.
Some of the motivations for United States foreign policy are national security, economics, and
idealism. The United States entry into World War Iin 1917 and the escalation of the Vietnam War in
1964 and the both had great impact on the United States.
A major type of foreign policy in the 1964 was containment. The Vietnam War was fought

The goals of this foreign policy was to end communism containment while starting democracies. For
the United States, the war ended in the withdrawal of American troops and the failure of its foreign
policy in Vietnam.
Another major foreign policy action was the entry to World War I. On August 4, 1914 there was an
outbreak in Europe. A war started between the central powers and the allied powers. The central
powers consisted of Germany, Austria–Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire. They were also known as
the Triple Alliance. The Allied Powers, also know as the Triple Entente consisted of Britain,
France, and Russia. An immediate cause of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz
Ferdinand in 1914. Some long term causes that started the war were militarism, alliances,
imperialism, and nationalism. America tried to keep themselves isolated from the war in Europe.
Before the war, America had an idea of neutrality. Neutrality is when American lives and property is
not threatened. There was great ethnic diversity in the United States which led to a public union
about war. The United States also had the idea of freedom of the seas. This meant the routes for
trading were open. The United States had the desire to trade with both the central and the allied
powers. The United States had a great economic interest in the war at this time. There were many

Veterans Challenges
Veterans frequently note 'finding a job' as the most difficult task they face when transitioning out of
the service, citing transferring military skills to a civilian professional atmosphere as one of the
primary hurdles. Aside from the difficulties of the current job market, one of the biggest difficulties
Veterans report in finding a job is dictating how theirmilitary skills translate to the civilian
professional atmosphere. Nearly all believe they have the skillsets required to land their targeted job,
but most express concerns about how to translate their skills to a civilian business environment.

According to one study, "the main economic differences between these two samples were their
poverty rates, the percentage of the sample receiving service–connected disability compensation, and
the amount of income they received from [differing] disability programs." Recent veterans earned
$796 per week, compared with $786 for their civilian counterparts. (Monthly Labor Review, July
2010). Veterans own 9% of U.S. businesses, employing some 5.8 million people, and their median
income is similarly higher than that of both the U.S. population, and their civilian counterparts (U.S.

Current Affairs In the United States The world has and will always have their beliefs and ideas
about different groups in society. Every group in society gets judged in many different ways for
example, the LGBTQ community has experienced many judgments, violence, hate, and
discrimination since 1924. It is not a secret that there is a huge problem of inequality and
discrimination in the United States military. In 1993, the policy "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" prohibited
openly lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals from serving in the U.S. military and were discharged
if known to be homosexual (Belkin, 108). However, according to Kornblum and Julian tolerance for
homosexuality grew and things changed, for example: Strong evidence of this trend...show more

(CNN) The LGBTQ community has fought so hard for their rights of equality and unfortunately
this ban sets them back. The LGBTQ community has had a lot of progress, but there has also been a
lot of setbacks on the topic of same–sex marriage. LGBTQ rights movement has been fighting for
same–sex marriage since as early as 2002 in the United States. According to Gerstmann, in 2002 the
only same–sex marriage case was dismissed very fast by the Supreme Court. President Clinton
signed the law without any hesitation that same–sex marriage was not legal in any state (Gerstmann,
9). A couple years later in 2005, the LGBTQ community grew and supporters grew as well, because
in Nebraska there was the first federal judge that believed that there is a constitutional right of
same–sex marriage for those that desire it (Gerstmann, 10). By 2015 the Supreme Court ruled in
Obergefell v. Hodges that same–sex marriage bans were unconstitutional, and same–sex marriage
became legal in all states (Gerstmann, 10). Even though same–sex marriage bans were named
unconstitutional in all states, there are still some Southern states that are reluctant to see same–sex
marriages as a right. According to Gerstmann (2016), Southern states allowed bills granting religious
vendors to have the choice of not serving same–sex couples. Even though same–sex marriage is legal
in all states there are some states that enacted constitutional or statutory bans on same–sex marriage,

Current Ethical Issues
Current Ethical Issues University of Phoenix Ethics in Management PHL/323 June 12, 2011 In
today's society there are many decisions made every day that have an effect on not only a single
person but can contribute to decisions and actions that many other people make as well. Many
decisions have an ethical standpoint that each person must address to make sure that it is a
decision they are ready and willing to make. Each decision needs to incorporate the main issues at
hand, who it will affect and how, as well as any possible side effects from the decision. Recently, the
Phoenix Police Department of Arizona has been faced with many ethical dilemmas that have scared
their image. Even though many in the police force have tried...show more content...
This leadership came into play, although all individuals involved are adults and accountable for
their own actions, by the sergeants' participation giving the ethical impression to the subordinate
officers' their actions are acceptable. Leadership is extremely important in every organization,
and although Gary Marche reveals, "There is no evidence to support the "individual rotten apple"
theory" he ties corruption to leadership as the fish is known to rot at the head (Marche, 51).
When we think of Police Officers, we imagine individuals that are presented with a code of
conduct. Officers are thought to be people that can be trusted and will help uphold the law. It is
rare to hear about an officer involved investigation as most officers are able to maintain a good
record and make confident decision with the moral code in place. The extra expenses to the city
that these investigations require are a major drawback that has an impact on not only the officers
but the entire community. Because the officers have already been screened they are often given the
benefit of the doubt in the courts eyes and are allowed to continue their careers as long as they are
able to justify their decisions and ensure that they were within the law. Only when an officer has
been accused of a crime that suits an investigation or is connected to an Internal Affairs investigation
are they required to take additional

Global Politics
14 March 2016
Current Events Report Wednesday, January 6, 2016, North Korea made an announcement that their
hydrogen bomb testing was successful, resulting in "raised cries of indignation from the
international community". In the past the U.N had implemented sanctions against North Korea for
continuing their development in nuclear weapons in 2006, 2009, 2013. Yet despite this, on
Monday March 14, 2016, DPRK Today reported that a fifth test would be run and a new test
involving ballistic missiles would also be included. Mr. Jongun had explained that the reason his
country is now involving ballistic missiles is ". . . [so that] the warheads [are able] to survive heat
and turbulence...show more content...
. . to reshuffle party officials, bolster his grip on power and present significant new state policies."
Although the young leader has stated that the Byungjin line (a program intended not only to boost
the country's economy but also to expands its nuclear weapons), does have at its core the people's
interest as a priority, the numbers are showing that only a small amount of North Korean citizens
are benefitting. Kim Jongun, has mentioned before that he wants the world to look up to his strong
country as a nuclear power, rather than just a mere country with multiple sanctions shouting big
words. This in the past has led to various consequences from hegemonies all around the world who
feel threatened by the implications of a young tyrant in charge of ICBMs. This is a clear example
of the security dilemma in which the entire world, the anarchy that it is, has to control minor nations
that strive for hegemony at the expense of the larger nations' security and loss of leverage.
Unfortunately, it seems that despite the clear warnings from the superior nations, the North Korean
dictator has no interest in abiding by international rules and is far more fascinated with realist
ideologies of projections of power.

Tens of thousands of Egyptian demonstrators took to the streets on 25 January, young and old,
Muslim and Christian, rich and poor, educated and not so–educated. They all chanted "Long live
Egypt", "Life, liberty and human dignity" and "Down with the Mubarak regime".
The day marked for the celebration of Police Day was dubbed the Day of Rage. The protests, which
continued through a second day in almost every part of the country, are showing no signs of abating
on the third day, with a million–strong march scheduled for Friday. These demonstrations are
sending shivers down the spine not only of the regime but of its friends and...show more content...
As it cracked down on demonstrators, it issued statements, banning any further protests and
repeating the same old excuses. It blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for what it called riots on the
streets and blamed their members for infiltrating the crowds in order to wreak havoc. This is
supposed to do the trick of scaring the world about the propsect of an imminent Islamist takeover of
Egypt – a fear that the regime has painstakingly been fostering. The interior ministry also blamed the
ill–defined but frequently invoked "foreign hands" that are always bent on fomenting trouble and
inciting people against their loving and God–fearing rulers.
State–controlled newspapers have also shown that their reports are approved, if not written, by the
security apparatus. People were shocked to see the headlines of the state–run Al–Ahram newspaper
on 26 January, after a day of massive protests in different Egyptian cities: "Widespread protests and
disturbances in Lebanon". Egyptian state television was no better. While the streets were teeming
with protests, it offered its usual mix of cookery programmes and soap operas. The demonstrations
were, no doubt, happening in another country.
The reaction of Arab and international media has also been disappointing. Throughout the first day,
there was a near–total disregard of the events happening on Egypt's streets. Al–Jazeera, which always
follows important events as they happen, covered the demonstrations rather mutedly at the

Essay on Russia Ukraine Crisis
Why Russia–Ukraine crisis was caused by Russia's attempt to protect its economy and sovereignty.
The topic of international relations has been gaining significance in the modern world following the
increase in the popularity of globalization and the need for peaceful coexistence between nations.
The high rate of advancement of communication technology, complex global economy, faster means
of transport and an increase in value for cooperative relationships are vital to the global society
(Almoni 1). A positive relationship between countries, especially the neighboring ones is expected to
facilitate the formulation of effective trade agreements. In addition, the issue of immigration or
movement of people from one country to another cannot...show more content...
However, Russia refused to acknowledge the new leadership stating that it came into power through
unconstitutional means and armed insurrection. This was cited as the major excuse for Russia to
deploy troops in Crimea to protect the majority Russian residents from extreme right forces.
The two countries, Russia and Ukraine, had different reactions towards the armed violence and
impeachment of the Ukrainian president. Although the majority of the Ukrainians opposed Viktor's
decision to procrastinate the signing the EU–Ukraine integration agreement, all the ex–presidents
accused for its interference with the affairs of Crimean. The former presidents of Ukraine, including
Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma described the present crisis as Russia's political interventions
designed to interfere with the internal affairs of Ukraine and its relationship with the European
Union (Hanschke 1). The people of Crimea have not been seeking for secession from Ukraine, but
their interest is to have extended autonomy and rights to govern the Crimean affairs with minimum
involvement of the government of Ukraine. Russia, on the other hand, have dismissed the
accusation and stated that it is pursuing the interest of the people of Crimea to join the Federation
of Russia. Russia holds that the people of Crimea have the power to decide the future of their
territory and Russia will be ready to respect their decision. Study shows that about 90

  • 4. Current Ethical Issues Current Ethical Issues University of Phoenix Ethics in Management PHL/323 June 12, 2011 In today's society there are many decisions made every day that have an effect on not only a single person but can contribute to decisions and actions that many other people make as well. Many decisions have an ethical standpoint that each person must address to make sure that it is a decision they are ready and willing to make. Each decision needs to incorporate the main issues at hand, who it will affect and how, as well as any possible side effects from the decision. Recently, the Phoenix Police Department of Arizona has been faced with many ethical dilemmas that have scared their image. Even though many in the police force have tried...show more content... This leadership came into play, although all individuals involved are adults and accountable for their own actions, by the sergeants' participation giving the ethical impression to the subordinate officers' their actions are acceptable. Leadership is extremely important in every organization, and although Gary Marche reveals, "There is no evidence to support the "individual rotten apple" theory" he ties corruption to leadership as the fish is known to rot at the head (Marche, 51). When we think of Police Officers, we imagine individuals that are presented with a code of conduct. Officers are thought to be people that can be trusted and will help uphold the law. It is rare to hear about an officer involved investigation as most officers are able to maintain a good record and make confident decision with the moral code in place. The extra expenses to the city that these investigations require are a major drawback that has an impact on not only the officers but the entire community. Because the officers have already been screened they are often given the benefit of the doubt in the courts eyes and are allowed to continue their careers as long as they are able to justify their decisions and ensure that they were within the law. Only when an officer has been accused of a crime that suits an investigation or is connected to an Internal Affairs investigation are they required to take additional Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Maese Dan Berliner Global Politics 14 March 2016 Current Events Report Wednesday, January 6, 2016, North Korea made an announcement that their hydrogen bomb testing was successful, resulting in "raised cries of indignation from the international community". In the past the U.N had implemented sanctions against North Korea for continuing their development in nuclear weapons in 2006, 2009, 2013. Yet despite this, on Monday March 14, 2016, DPRK Today reported that a fifth test would be run and a new test involving ballistic missiles would also be included. Mr. Jongun had explained that the reason his country is now involving ballistic missiles is ". . . Although the young leader has stated that the Byungjin line (a program intended not only to boost the country's economy but also to expands its nuclear weapons), does have at its core the people's interest as a priority, the numbers are showing that only a small amount of North Korean citizens are benefitting. Kim Jongun, has mentioned before that he wants the world to look up to his strong country as a nuclear power, rather than just a mere country with multiple sanctions shouting big words. This in the past has led to various consequences from hegemonies all around the world who feel threatened by the implications of a young tyrant in charge of ICBMs. This is a clear example of the security dilemma in which the entire world, the anarchy that it is, has to control minor nations that strive for hegemony at the expense of the larger nations' security and loss of leverage. Unfortunately, it seems that despite the clear warnings from the superior nations, the North Korean dictator has no interest in abiding by international rules and is far more fascinated with realist ideologies of projections of power. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– [ 1 ]. http://www.newyorker.com/news/news–desk/north–koreas–bombastic–announcement [ 2 ]. Current Affairs in Egypt Egypt's Internet Cut Off, Egypt News, Egypt, Egypt Protest, Egypt Protests 2011 [pic] [pic] Image Source Tens of thousands of Egyptian demonstrators took to the streets on 25 January, young and old, Muslim and Christian, rich and poor, educated and not so–educated. They all chanted "Long live Egypt", "Life, liberty and human dignity" and "Down with the Mubarak regime". The day marked for the celebration of Police Day was dubbed the Day of Rage. The protests, which continued through a second day in almost every part of the country, are showing no signs of abating on the third day, with a million–strong march scheduled for Friday. These demonstrations are sending shivers down the spine not only of the regime but of its friends and...show more content... As it cracked down on demonstrators, it issued statements, banning any further protests and repeating the same old excuses. It blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for what it called riots on the streets and blamed their members for infiltrating the crowds in order to wreak havoc. This is supposed to do the trick of scaring the world about the propsect of an imminent Islamist takeover of Egypt – a fear that the regime has painstakingly been fostering. The interior ministry also blamed the ill–defined but frequently invoked "foreign hands" that are always bent on fomenting trouble and inciting people against their loving and God–fearing rulers. State–controlled newspapers have also shown that their reports are approved, if not written, by the security apparatus. People were shocked to see the headlines of the state–run Al–Ahram newspaper on 26 January, after a day of massive protests in different Egyptian cities: "Widespread protests and disturbances in Lebanon". Egyptian state television was no better. While the streets were teeming with protests, it offered its usual mix of cookery programmes and soap operas. The demonstrations were, no doubt, happening in another country. The reaction of Arab and international media has also been disappointing. Throughout the first day, there was a near–total disregard of the events happening on Egypt's streets. Al–Jazeera, which always follows important events as they happen, covered the demonstrations rather mutedly at the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The topic of international relations has been gaining significance in the modern world following the increase in the popularity of globalization and the need for peaceful coexistence between nations. The high rate of advancement of communication technology, complex global economy, faster means of transport and an increase in value for cooperative relationships are vital to the global society (Almoni 1). However, Russia refused to acknowledge the new leadership stating that it came into power through unconstitutional means and armed insurrection. This was cited as the major excuse for Russia to deploy troops in Crimea to protect the majority Russian residents from extreme right forces. The two countries, Russia and Ukraine, had different reactions towards the armed violence and impeachment of the Ukrainian president. Although the majority of the Ukrainians opposed Viktor's decision to procrastinate the signing the EU–Ukraine integration agreement, all the ex–presidents accused for its interference with the affairs of Crimean. The former presidents of Ukraine, including Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma described the present crisis as Russia's political interventions designed to interfere with the internal affairs of Ukraine and its relationship with the European Union (Hanschke 1). The people of Crimea have not been seeking for secession from Ukraine, but their interest is to have extended autonomy and rights to govern the Crimean affairs with minimum involvement of the government of Ukraine. Russia, on the other hand, have dismissed the accusation and stated that it is pursuing the interest of the people of Crimea to join the Federation of Russia. Russia holds that the people of Crimea have the power to decide the future of their territory and Russia will be ready to respect their decision.
