Adolescence Essay
Adolescence is the transition period from childhood to adulthood, this is the time where the person
changes in cognitive and physical ways. Adolescence is the period after a child hits puberty and
ends depending on culture. Biologically, the child experience sexual maturation, there are two
categories that fall into it. Primary and secondary characteristics evolve from it. Primary sexual
characteristics include the maturation of reproductive organs. Secondary sexual characteristics are,
"visible parts of the body that signal sexual maturity," such as breasts and widened hips for girls,
facial hair for boys, and pubic hair for both girls and boys. Many kids during this time explore their
interests and reach for more independence from...show more content...
In the adolescent stage from ages 12 to 14 relationships usually last about five months on average.
When Christopher was younger he described looking for, "girls for their body figure and the things
they had materialistically. When one is young they start to focus on the things that are expensive
and 'in style'." When I asked Christopher how long did his previous relationships last, he answered,
"longest [was] 9 months, on average [they lasted] 2–3 months....Now I focus on things that will
benefit me in the future and look at girls for what they have in the inside and how they make me
feel." He also stated key words such as, respect and happiness. Respect is a sign of a healthiness
and maturity in the adolescent brain. I asked him what qualities he looked for in a girl and he
said "I actually don't care about what perks people have. I would rather know their mistakes and
past problems. This can lead me to get an idea of how their brain work, when placed into certain
situations." As they reach adulthood they last longer and are more steady, lasting maybe up to two
years (Carver, Joyner, & Udry, 2003). Choosing a girl/ woman that can make proper decisions,
helps humans biologically survive in this world. He said, "knowing the pain that an unhealthy
relationship can affect a child causes us to latch on to each other even more.... There are numerous
things that other girls I've dated in the past don't have, as the one I am dating right now. We are

Essay On Adolescence
Observational Journal Concerning Adolescence INTRODUCTION: Often adolescence is described
as an awkward and reckless period in one's life; a phase parents dread and individuals struggle to
trudge through with their sanity. However, looking past the challenges that may arise at this point in
a person's life, adolescence is a time to explore your identity and take on new responsibilities.
Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to early adulthood, starting around 10 to 12
years old and ending at about 18 or 19 years of age (Santrock, 2014). Thinking about my own life,
adolescence is when I started needing to make decisions for myself like what I want to pursue
concerning education, what kind of friends I want to have around me,...show more content...
RISKY BEHAVIORS SECTION: Breaking through the common stereotype of adolescence, Jane has
never been mischievous or a big risk taker. She expressed to me constantly being asked by peers
what the worst thing she has ever done was, and she always fails to come up with an answer. She
has never tasted alcohol, done drugs, snuck out, or participated in unsafe sexual activity. As our
conversation progressed, however, Jane began to talk openly about her struggle with an eating
disorder. This behavior wasn't something she considered risky, but I think otherwise. (SAY
FEMALE ADOLESCENTS ARE MOST AT RISK) After an offhand comment about her weight from
a boy in the seventh grade she started to look for ways to lose weight. After failed dieting and
constant frustration, she began binging and purging. Since then, she has struggled with bulimia, the
tendency to intentionally throw up food after consumption. The time of onset of this problem isn't
shocking considering females self–esteem, the "global evaluative dimension of the self," is more
likely to drop during times of pubertal change. She explained that growing up, she never felt like
she was good enough as a daughter, friend, or academic. Her self concept, "domain specific
self–evaluations", KEEP GOING PARENT–CHILD CONFLICT SECTION: Growing up, Jane had a

Middle Adolescence
Middle Adolescence Developmental professionals agree that middle adolescence is the period
between ages 14 16. Adolescence is a challenging period with its share of rewards and failures.
Teenagers in this age of development face a lot of personal and social challenges. Adolescence is
a period, overall, where perception becomes key. The adolescent years are a shift in the perception
of self and the importance of perception of self in others, such as peers. Middle adolescence is the
middle or second stage of the adolescent period, marked by, among other characteristics,
development physically and psychologically. Many of the behavior and thought patterns that
develop during this period carry over into adulthood. Although adolescence is distinctive from
childhood, it is similar to it in that it is a significant period in identity and personality formation.
Middle adolescence is a period when many teenagers experience systemic changes in their lives.
Most teenagers, by middle adolescence, have already begun to show signs of puberty physically,
such as facial hair, pubic hair, breast development, and other traits. Emotional and psychological
changes happen during this period intensely. It may seem to teens that everywhere they turn is
another experience challenging them to grow or demonstrate their principles. In middle adolescents,
there is a greater awareness of the control and the consequences of one's actions. Middle adolescents

Adolescence
According to the dictionary, the word "Adolescence" is the stage of youth; or maturity. And yet, if
you really think about it, that definition merely touches the surface. Adolescence is that part of ones
life that he or she will never forget because it plays a big role in the formation of who that person will
become.
It is quite normal for parents to think they know their children; REALLY know their children. In
fact what they know, in most cases, is their child's external behavior. Anything, which doesn't fit into
the parent's idea of the child's character, is liable to be classified as an unexpected reaction or
absurd behavior.
To know a child however, one must...show more content...
One often hears the remark that a child is young for his age or vice versa. It could be that the only
thing that has happened is that the child has taken on the characteristics of another age group.
Parents should remember that, in a child's development, there is a whole series of successive stages
from birth to maturity. A child in the process of growing up goes through a number of definite
phases, each one having a particular physic structure that is reflected in characteristic behavior.
Adolescence basically has two stages: Early adolescence (12–15), and the Young adult or Late
adolescence (16–18). During the first stage, the child undergoes a series of physiological changes
that are in conflict with the previous stage of stability. That is, the toddler stage wherein his/her
parents are considered to be the child's best friends. This is when he reaches the height of his
physical growth along with the formation of secondary sexual characteristics and the development,
later on, of sexual maturity. This occurs earlier is some children than in others, particularly in the
case of girls. As a result of emotional developments, feelings and emotions can take pride of place
with the result that many children who were good at school begin to get bad results and go downhill
in their schoolwork.
The young person doesn't fully

Adolescence Essay
The adolescence time period of one's life proves to be one of the most enjoyable times of one's
life. However, it also tends to bring about major difficulties and challenges. It's not all fun; it's hard.
And it's much harder for girls than guys. Socially guys and girls are held to high standards, they
also have high expectations for their future career and life, and face different issues when it comes to
high school and college relationships. Although both sexes have similar issues, girls have a much
harder time during adolescence. In today's social life girls have a more difficult time. It's a two part
equation. First, is the superficial aspect of our society. We, as a society, display and worship women
with unnatural or unapproachable...show more content...
Although this is a difficulty, the social expectations and stresses are much greater for girls than
guys. As well as being held to ridiculous social standards girls have a lot of pressure for their
futures. I'm not saying guys don't have this pressure, because they do. They are expected to be
the breadwinner and take care of the family. That is a lot of pressure. However, guys have always
had this pressure; traditionally they've always been expected to be the breadwinner. Today's
generation of girls, on the other hand, is expected to go away from the normal and go to college
and get a job. They are expected to continue to break through the gender barrier and be intelligent
working women. Although I may not agree with it, being a housewife is now socially looked
down upon. Therefore girls are expected to lead this charge and be productive working citizens in
their future. Now this isn't a bad thing, however it is a heavy pressure and weight that is placed
upon young girl's backs. Nonetheless, for both sexes, the pressure of future expectations is a big
stress on kids. The last large aspect of adolescence life is relationships. Now these present many
different issues for both sexes. First of all when a guy is involved with many girls he is labeled as a
player, or at worst a "douchebag". Girls are viewed in a much harsher light. They will be labeled as a
"slut" or a "hoe". On

Looking Back at Adolescence Essay examples
Adolescence is a part of growing up between leaving the childish ways behind and slowly
preparing more mature roles as an adult. This is a very confusing part of growing up because this
is a time were we are trying to find our identity, creating our long term goals, and making decisions
that may affect our lives forever. This can also be characterized as a part where we are trying to fit
in a society which we feel we belong because we share the same experiences, thoughts and feelings.
Also in this time, some are experimenting on things that come their way. Some of these things lead
them to complicated situations. Still some are engaging into smoking, drinking and worst drugs that
fatally affect their academic responsibilities. We...show more content...
Physical activities are lessen because who would choose to play outside and get sweaty all over if
you could just stay inside, listen to your ipod while texting your friends about the latest fashion
inside you fully air–conditioned room? Some think that we are being rebellious because of the
actions we do. Being questioned and misunderstood by people around us make us feel sick and
more confused. We think that the people around us are not sensitive for our needs. In these cases,
conflict between us and the elders starts to rise. There are many factors which greatly affect our
mental maturity. Some of these are peer pressure, environmental trends, and the people around
us. I can say that these factors can make or break me. If I would not be critical enough to think of
the consequences, I might end up wasting my life for nothing. Nowadays, adolescents grow in a
depressing way. Some are not guided enough by their parents because they are busy in their own
career living their child alone in his own. Being raised by a single parent can also be a cause why
some are losing their way and was never given a chance to find their way home. I?m an adolescent.

Adolescence Development Essay
Adolescence is a period of physical and psychological development from the onset of puberty to
maturity. The adolescent is no longer a child, but they haven't yet reached adulthood. Adolescence is
considered people between the ages of 13 and 21. Puberty is the physical maturing that makes an
individual capable of sexual reproduction. Puberty is important to adolescence because when a child
hits puberty, that's when the child is becoming an adolescent. Puberty is a big part of an adolescent's
life.
Adolescence is not cultural universal. In some societies, young children go straight from childhood
to the adult life once they have done the necessary puberty rites. Puberty rites are formal ceremonies
that mark the entrance of young...show more content...
There are five characteristics that all adolescents have. These characteristics are biological growth
and development, an undefined status, increased decision–making, increased pressures, and the
search for self. The brain and the endocrine system control biological growth and development.
During the early stages of adolescence, individuals experience growth in height and weight,
changes in the body, the development of sexual characteristics, and skin problems. For example, I
started getting curves in my body when I hit puberty. My body started to develop changes. Our
society's expectations for children and adults are clear, but for the adolescent, expectations are
inexplicit. Some adolescents are treated like children, but some are treated like adults. There is an
undefined status. For example, my parents pay for my lunch, but I have to have a job so I can
support myself.
Adults usually make most of the decisions for young children, but adolescents must make many
decisions on their own. For example, when I was a child, my mother would choose what I would
wear for school and what was in my lunch box. But now, I have to choose what I will wear, what I
will eat, what kind of job I want to have and many more different decisions.
Adolescents are faced with a lot of pressure from many different people. They get put under pressure
from their parents to their peers. They also get

Middle adolescence is the middle or second stage of the adolescent period, marked by, among other characteristics, development physically and psychologically. Many of the behavior and thought patterns that develop during this period carry over into adulthood. Although adolescence is distinctive from childhood, it is similar to it in that it is a significant period in identity and personality formation. Middle adolescence is a period when many teenagers experience systemic changes in their lives. Most teenagers, by middle adolescence, have already begun to show signs of puberty physically, such as facial hair, pubic hair, breast development, and other traits. Emotional and psychological changes happen during this period intensely. It may seem to teens that everywhere they turn is another experience challenging them to grow or demonstrate their principles. In middle adolescents, there is a greater awareness of the control and the consequences of one's actions. Middle adolescents come to experience and understand Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Adolescence Essay Adolescence According to the dictionary, the word "Adolescence" is the stage of youth; or maturity. And yet, if you really think about it, that definition merely touches the surface. Adolescence is that part of ones life that he or she will never forget because it plays a big role in the formation of who that person will become. It is quite normal for parents to think they know their children; REALLY know their children. In fact what they know, in most cases, is their child's external behavior. Anything, which doesn't fit into the parent's idea of the child's character, is liable to be classified as an unexpected reaction or absurd behavior. To know a child however, one must...show more content... One often hears the remark that a child is young for his age or vice versa. It could be that the only thing that has happened is that the child has taken on the characteristics of another age group. Parents should remember that, in a child's development, there is a whole series of successive stages from birth to maturity. A child in the process of growing up goes through a number of definite phases, each one having a particular physic structure that is reflected in characteristic behavior. Adolescence basically has two stages: Early adolescence (12–15), and the Young adult or Late adolescence (16–18). During the first stage, the child undergoes a series of physiological changes that are in conflict with the previous stage of stability. That is, the toddler stage wherein his/her parents are considered to be the child's best friends. This is when he reaches the height of his physical growth along with the formation of secondary sexual characteristics and the development, later on, of sexual maturity. This occurs earlier is some children than in others, particularly in the case of girls. As a result of emotional developments, feelings and emotions can take pride of place with the result that many children who were good at school begin to get bad results and go downhill in their schoolwork. • 5. Adolescence Essay The adolescence time period of one's life proves to be one of the most enjoyable times of one's life. However, it also tends to bring about major difficulties and challenges. It's not all fun; it's hard. And it's much harder for girls than guys. Socially guys and girls are held to high standards, they also have high expectations for their future career and life, and face different issues when it comes to high school and college relationships. Although both sexes have similar issues, girls have a much harder time during adolescence. In today's social life girls have a more difficult time. It's a two part equation. First, is the superficial aspect of our society. We, as a society, display and worship women with unnatural or unapproachable...show more content... Although this is a difficulty, the social expectations and stresses are much greater for girls than guys. As well as being held to ridiculous social standards girls have a lot of pressure for their futures. I'm not saying guys don't have this pressure, because they do. They are expected to be the breadwinner and take care of the family. That is a lot of pressure. However, guys have always had this pressure; traditionally they've always been expected to be the breadwinner. Today's generation of girls, on the other hand, is expected to go away from the normal and go to college and get a job. They are expected to continue to break through the gender barrier and be intelligent working women. Although I may not agree with it, being a housewife is now socially looked down upon. Therefore girls are expected to lead this charge and be productive working citizens in their future. Now this isn't a bad thing, however it is a heavy pressure and weight that is placed upon young girl's backs. Nonetheless, for both sexes, the pressure of future expectations is a big stress on kids. The last large aspect of adolescence life is relationships. Now these present many different issues for both sexes. First of all when a guy is involved with many girls he is labeled as a player, or at worst a "douchebag". Girls are viewed in a much harsher light. They will be labeled as a "slut" or a "hoe".
