Methods of Achieving Sustainability In this project suggests several ways to make the system
more sustainable. (Variable speed appliance for energy saving included curtain pullers, trains
themselves, automatic screen door, moving walkway, lift and escalator, compressors and pumps,
catapults and launchers.) There are many discussed with respect to their Efficiency of use and
Conservation . These are defined as follows:
пЃ¬Conservation: Changing policy and/or processes of the MTR system so that it requires less
energy to operate.
пЃ¬Efficiency of Use: Changing the nature of technologies within the MTR so that they require
less energy to operate. While both these approaches are valid ways of increasing sustainability, it is
important to tackle the problem of sustainability from numerous angles. It can be assumed that
developments will be made to achieve both conservation and high

Clothes In The Victorian Era
The Victorian Era, was an era of etiquette, manners, clothes, money, social activity and tea parties.
Etiquette, manners, clothes, and money were all the victorian era was about. Men, women, and
children were all different and had different roles in Victorian society. Clothes stated who you
were and how much money you had. Men and women had to dress more appropriate and social,
but children were a tad bit more free clothing choices, to a certain age.
The Victorian Era was an era of the wealthy dressing fancy and going to parties, and poor dressing
for the poor and working their butts off. In the Victorian Era women always dressed modestly,
rich or poor, with a long dress and long sleeves. Men in the Victorian Era, wore a lot of morning

Clothes, in the Victorian Era, stated who you were and how much money you had. Rich men and
women dressed modestly and wealthy. Children had to dress almost the same, but not quite.
Children got to wear almost whatever they wanted, but as long as they dressed appropriate. Men
had more power but they still were expected to dress nice. Women stayed home a lot of times and
acted as the housewives.
Children were a tad freer, clothing matter. They could nearly wear what they wanted and adults
couldn t. But once you got to a certain age it was expected to wear what the adults wore. For girls
it as about 16 years of age and boys about 15 to 18 years of age.
In the Victorian Era, clothes showed social rank, wealth, stability and style. The rich wore really
expensive clothes. The women always wore big, puffy, shiny dresses. The men wore suits and

Asahi Breweries
Summary
We recommend proceeding with proposed investment plan with some revision. Detail analyses and
rationalities state in the following sections.
Industry Analysis
Japan s beer industry is concentrated and highly regulated. The industry was projected to grow by
approximate 7.6% for 1988 as 1987 realized growth. There were mainly four kinds of beers: Dry,
Draft, Lager, Melt. Consumer taste was graduating changing. Their preferences were switching
from Lager beer to dry and draft beer. The government has tremendous power in this industry in
terms of price and distribution (a distributor or retailer needs a license issued by the government to
sell beers). Therefore, both the beer license and structure of distribution channels ... Show more

Absence, or even a poor execution, of any of these three elements could lead to the logic of
strategy to fail.
Investment Analysis
Strategic Perspective
Strategically, Asahi s investment plan was sound. Before the big hit of Dry Beer , Asahi was
considered a marginal player in the market with a 10% market share. As the taste of Japanese
consumers shifted towards dry beer, we expect that the dry beer sector would become the driver
of the beer industry. As shown in the case, the share of draft beer sales (dry beer was considered
one type of draft beers) had increased from 21% in 1980 to 50% in 1987. Asahi became a leader
in this sector with a 54.1% as calculated with the monthly sales numbers in 1988.
However, during the Dry War initiated by its competitors, Asahi was only able to supply 70% of
the orders placed in the summer of 1988. This caused not only lost sales, but also failure to match
distributors expectations of the firm, thus threatening the firm s leadership position in the sector.
With the expansion plan, Asahi would be able to satisfy demands in a fast increasing sector.
Since the retail price of beer in Japan was virtually regulated at a uniform level by the government,
the competition was about creating capacity to satisfy demand and delivering beers through the
distribution network. Two key factors are capacity and distribution network.

The Health Savings Accounts By Linda J. Blumberg
The health savings accounts were created in 2003, and the main purpose was to cover out of pocket
medical expenses during the year and to obtain wellness and greater quality of care. To open health
saving account, the person should buy an inexpensive health insurance plan which usually has a
high deductible. Therefore, the Health saving account provides the opportunity to cover out of
pocket costs. The American Benefits Council, from Statement before the Subcommittee on Health
of the House Committee on Ways and Means believes that health savings accounts are working
successfully and help many millions of Americans. In contrast, Linda J. Blumberg, from Testimony

Most recent data shows that people benefit from health saving accounts and that they have
sufficient amount on the account to cover out of pocket expenses. Furthermore, data indicates that
health saving accounts are not being used as tax shelters by people with high income. It reveals
that majority of individuals who has an account has incomes below $60,000. The most important
that the same survey establishes that 41% of health saving accounts purchasers did not have
medical insurance in the past six months period. Many people point out that money on those
accounts may be used for many reasons. However, the early data showed that customers of the
accounts are using their HSAs as proposed mostly to cover qualified medical costs. The council has
confidence in those imposing third party substantiation requirements on HSAs will increase
expenses and limit Americans opportunities for health care coverage. These additional costs will
limit the attractiveness and efficacy of health savings accounts. Linda J. Blumberg has a diverse
opinion about health savings accounts. She demonstrates that those accounts could be beneficial
only for high income customers. She states that The GAO analysis found that the average adjusted
gross income of HAS participants was about $139,000 in 2005, compared with $57,000 for all other

Use Of Irony In The Movie Labyrinth
You remind me of the babe.
What babe? The babe with the power. What power?
The power of voodoo.
Who do?
You do.
Do what?
Remind me of the babe. These were David Bowie s famous words and conversation between a
goblin in the movie Labyrinth. Jim Henson uses three different types of irony in the movie
Labyrinth, to convey the feeling of surprise in the viewer. How is surprise created in a motion
picture? The author uses the literary device of irony. The three common types of irony are verbal,
dramatic, and situational irony. Initially, verbal irony is when a character says something but does
the opposite. To go along, dramatic irony is when the viewer/reader knows something that the
characters don t. Last but not least, situational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Lack of Free Speech in the Military
As a member of the United States military, there are times that the very freedoms that are being
defended are not extended to those sailors and soldiers that are in charge of that task. One of
those freedoms is freedom of speech. As a veteran of the United States Navy, I find the limitation
of speech for a member of the militaryto be contradictory at best. The very fact that members of the
armed forcescannot speak freely about government officials, as well as government issues that
affect their lives, seems to be controversial because it limits one of the freedoms these sailors and
soldiers have vowed to protect. To oppose the right of free speech of any member of the military
takes away from the importance of the job they do. It has been argued that a member of the
military should be mindful of whom they work for and the chain of command that orders come
from, and that any display of dissatisfaction can be seen as disobedience or even treason.
I support members of the military being able to voice their thoughts on issues that impact their
lives, as well as the lives of their families. There are a few reasons why I support this. Simply put,
as Americans they have the right of freedom of speech. Given the responsibilities of these sailors
and soldiers in their day to day jobs, they should be entrusted to know what to say and what not to
say. Most people take for granted the right to speak one s mind, right or wrong, and have nearly no
ramifications for doing so. When one

Persuasive Essay On Hyper 1940
For centuries people dreamed of the transportation of the future. Would there be flying cars? How
could humans reach their desired destination in half the time it normally takes them? With unique
transportation comes many irreversible risks many are not willing to take. Currently, a man by the
name of Elon Musk has started pushing for the transportation of the future, the Hyperloop. The
Hyperloop resembles a futuristic trainand Musk claims that it could reach speeds of 800 miles per
hour, meaning a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles would be cut down to thirty minutes. At
first, this news seems incredible. People could visit loved ones more often, plan fun day trips that
were not easily planned before, and work in places not possible before because of the commute time
. Upon further inspection and research into this proposed transportation of the future there become
unanswered questions. Will the general public feel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Hyperloop would be a miracle for people who commute or travel often. Unfortunately,
miracles are not always realistic. A tried and true method of travel will always be the airplane.
Soaring safely through the clouds and traveling the world allows people the luxury of
experiencing new places. The airplane has more routes, less unanswered questions, and is
drastically cheaper than the proposed Hyperloop. On the other hand, the Hyperloop would be
much faster and offer a pleasing futuristic aesthetic. Both forms of transportation aim to please
travelers, but the plane offers many more definite benefits. Passengers traveling by plane have the
advantage of getting to their destination much faster than if they drove or took a train. As of right
now, the plan for the Hyperloop is strictly in California, which would make riding it impossible for
some people. Most people are skeptical, as they should be. The general public would rather stick
with modes of transportation they are familiar

The Pros And Cons Of The Super Bowl
The home of the brave, the land of the free, and also considered the best country on Earth: the
United States of America. Reality, however, completely contradicts this statement. The average
American shows tendencies of having a small attention span, an easily influenced mindset, and
ignorance. The Super Bowl, one of the biggest events in America, has millions upon millions of
people watching yearly. In this past super bowl, An estimated 103.4 million people watched

the football game as more entertaining. For this reason, having a commercial during the Super

As time goes on, citizens of this country become less knowledgeable about the world around us.
With more opportunities than ever before for the chance of wisdom, society does the opposite. The
super bowl commercial promoting Australia shows just how ignorant the American people are. The
commercial originally starts as a made up movie trailer. Later in the Advertisement, Hemsworth
claims the movie trailer is only an advertisement for Australia. Using this method of trickery, the
commercial grabs the attention of viewers through the idea of Hemsworth staring in a new movie.
Once the Advertisement has your attention, the commercial then promotes Australia. Not only is
this a genius move to promote the beaches, but the ignorance of viewers also played a role. The
majority of individuals fell for the tactic, and then laughed it off as if it was no big deal. However,
subconsciously what viewers thought as just a funny commercial actually promoted Australia
heavily. Creating a commercial that stands out helps with sales tremendously, and Australia figured
this out. Currently this nation deals with ignorance. The more knowledgeable American citizens
become, the less companies have control over the majority of the countries

Dance Persuasive Essay
As a former competitive dancer, I know that the best part about dance for children is also the
worst part for the parents: costumes. For the kids, costumes are exciting and are a symbol of all
the hard work they put into their training this year. However, for parents, costumes are a financial
burden added on after paying a years worth of tutition costs.
What if I told you there was a way for you to please both your students and their parents and get
high quality costumes at affordable prices? It sounds to good to be true, but that s exactly what we
do at Costumes On Call.
Background, Problem, and Purpose Costumes On Call is a dance costume rental system that allows
you to rent the latest costumes for your dancers at a fraction of their retail value. For the past three
years, we have been provide studio owners, like yourself, with a new choice when selecting
costumes for performances.
We understand that buying costumes can be a tedious task for you as the studio owner. Not
only does it take time to sift through costume catalogues to find a piece that speaks to your
dances vision, but you also need to consider the costs. Costumes can cost upwards of $75 each,
which isn t too steep of a charge for a child in one class. However, most children take anywhere
from 2 to 10 classes a year. That does not include dancers who are part of the competition team,
who can perform an additional 10 dances per season. The worst part about costumes isn t their lofty

The Theory Of Scientific Management
3. Scientific Management
It is necessary to understand where the organization of work is headed. Through specialization,
subordinate can upgrade their abilities or professions and there was a concerted effort to identify
key aspects of work and organization which could be used to achieve efficiency through immutable
principles. Taylor thinks managementshould merge with science to enhance the effectiveness.
3.1 Taylorism by Fred W. Taylor (1856 1915)
Taylor s scientific management theory suggests the idea of one right way to manage an
organization, which is the best way for worker to achieve their own duties by providing them
proper tools and training. The old saying goes, Practice Makes Perfect , the concept suggests

Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance
known to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional
display. People, objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the
theme that the book Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is
about Paul Fisher, a boy having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his
life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what
it appears to be. The first symbol Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school
football star without impaired vision unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his
eyes were damaged from Erik. Paul states, I remembered Erik s fingers prying my eyelids open
while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them (255). This shows that Paul did not realize the
dark past behind his disability and that Erik could have done such a thing to him since Erik s
external shape is much clearer than the looking of himself. Another reality behind Erik s typical
appearance is that he orders his sidekick, Arthur Bauer to murder Luis Cruz (275). Not even enough

look great in Tangerine County, they re falling apart underneath. Outside the housing development,

del licenciado TomГ© de Burguillos which was considered his masterpiece and the most
modern poem book of the 17th century. In 1635, tragedy struck again when lope lost another
son and his youngest daughter was abducted off the coast of Venezuela. Lope de Vega was
infected with scarlet fever and died later that year, in Madrid, on August 27th. In his life s work,
Lope de Vega broke the neoclassical three unities (place, time and action). He showed that he
knew the established rules of poetry, but excused himself from them stating that a vulgar
Spaniard cares nothing about them. He wrote so his readers could easily relate and understand
him, he stood as a defender of the common language of ordinary life. Unfortunately, the books he
read, his literary connections, and his fear of Italian criticism all exercised an influence upon his
naturally robust spirit and, like so many others he caught the prevalent contagion of mannerism

round numbers, as many as 230 three act plays, comedias. This figure rose to 1500 by 1632.

Chagas Disease Research Paper
Disease will always be prevalent across the world, there is no place where disease is non existent
and every single region across the world has its own varieties of diseases. Most of them are
different, but they all have one thing in common, they destroy the life of a human by either
bringing birth to acute symptoms or chronic ones and sometimes even death. Our focus though,
will not be on every single region, but particularly in the tropics, home to malaria, hookworm,
yellow fever, and most important of all Chagas disease. Chagas disease will be our only focus in
the tropics and perhaps another day there will be time for the rest, but for now it will be Chagas.
This disease has been neglected and at times thought of as weak in stature, but... Show more content

Malaria for example was given recognition and Chagas disease was distorted as a myth; which lead
to a more dominant spread of T.cruzi throughout the Latin Americacountries. Reason being why it
was no longer believed was the fact that there were significant problems trying to diagnose
Chagas disease in the chronic stages. This meant that men like Kraus believed that Chagas
disease was not the culprit behind the chronic stages and even later named the disease instead as
parasitic thyroiditis (Armus, 82). Rudolf Kraus was an experienced bacteriologist that came from
Europe and moved later to Argentina. He was very jealous of Chagas and influenced others to
betray him and instead provide information for Kraus. People distorted much of Chagas work and
it must be noted that his own friends as well turned their back against him and feed jealous enemies
like Kraus information about the disease and the several gaps that Chagas had yet to figure out.
Although Chagas battled enemies such as Kraus, Figuerido, and others, he won and kept his
recognition, but what happened was the fact that people no longer viewed him as having

The Films Stagecoach, High Noon, And Unforgiven

Final Essay
The films Stagecoach (1939), High Noon (1952) and Unforgiven (1992) lend from popular themes
from frontier myths, however they employ these themes in different ways that are representative of
the social change present during the decades in which they were produced. These themes include
gender roles, villains, and the issue of justice within a community, glamorization of violence and the
genre typical structure of the Western move. An overall trend in the Western genre is evident in the
way that these movies continuously challenge the progress that was representative of the frontier
West. Initially, western films did not have any social connotations attached to them other than the
glamorization of the west, but as the films progressed with time we see this time evolving. ... Show

Psychopathology of Vince Li
The death of greyhound passenger Tim Mclean was caused by the untreated mental illnesses
(antisocial personality disorder and Schizophrenia) of Vince Li. The actions of Vince Li can be
described by using a branch of psychology called psychopathology. Psychopathology is the study of
mental illnesses in individuals. It uses scientific reasoning to help understand how a person s
thoughts and emotions incorporate with their behaviour patterns. In the case of Vince Li, he had
two mental illnesses called antisocial personality disorder and Schizophrenia that made him make a
tragic choice in August 2008. Antisocial personality disorder addresses... Show more content on

Family history of Antisocial personality disorder can increase the risk of the newborns being
affected with the mental illness. For the environmental factors, if a child has been abused or
neglected through childhood the child would have a risk of having antisocial personality
disorder through to adulthood (Tuvblad and Beaver, 2014). As adulthood approaches, any
jailtime, alcohol abuse or severe depression increase the risk of having antisocial personality
disorder to a much higher extent. Research has been done to show that Antisocial personality
disorder needs a much larger sensory input for normal brain function. Patients with antisocial
personality disorder are known to have decreased pulse rates, and show less activity in the brain
(Tuvblad and Beaver, 2014). The various studies of the brain suggest that the irregular brain
function is a cause of antisocial behavior. The science behind the brain of a patient with antisocial
personality disorder are the neurotransmitters called serotonin that is directly related with mood
and social behaviour while dopamine is correlated with impulsive/aggressive behaviour (Baker,
Bezdjian, and Raine, 2008). The temporal lobes and the prefrontal cortex aid in controlling the
mood and the behavior of an individual. The poorly controlled brain behavior stems show an
abnormal amount of serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain

Figurative Language In The Great Influenza By John Barry
In this passage from The Great Influenza, by John M. Barry, figurative language, imagery, and
different forms of syntax and diction are used to characterize scientific research as a dynamic,
tedious, and calculated field of study that requires a variety of personality traits including:
Curiosity, patience, and creativity. Barry uses figurative language to downplay the severity of
decisions that scientists are faced with. One example being: Would a pick be best, or would
dynamite work better or would dynamite be too indiscriminately destructive. This illustrates a part
of a scientist s thought process as they are forming the steps to their experimentation. He also stated
that All real scientists are on the frontier. , Which leads the audience to the conclusion that very few

Barry illustrates the risk of wrong decision making in the quote: There a single step can take
them through the looking glas... A single step can also take one off a cliff. , creating an image of

their disposal. Once they figure out where to go, and what tools work as well as which ones don

included in the essay to display the process of deduction a scientist must stick to as they are
figuring out which steps to take, ... is there another way of getting information about what the rock

these questions allow readers to simulate the thought process of a scientists and see how uncertainty

Essay on The Supernatural in Hamlet
The Supernatural in Hamlet
Though Shakespeare cannot claim the invention of the ghosts in tragedies, still he can claim to
have clothed his ghost in Hamlet with convincingness. This essay concerns his one supernatural
character in the tragedy.
Regarding the supernatural in Hamlet, Cumberland Clark says in The Supernatural in Hamlet :
At least six or seven years pass after the writing of Midsummer Night s Dream before we find
Shakespeare engaged on Hamlet, the second of the great plays with an important Supernatural
element, and, in the opinion of many, the greatest tragedy ever penned. What a profound change

which the Ghost s words have on the entire play:
Perusing the description which the ghost of Hamlet s father gives of his poisoning by Claudius,
one cannot help being struck by the vividness with which the process of poisoning, the malicious
spreading of the disease, is portrayed:
Sleeping within my orchard,
My custom always of the afternoon,
Upon my secure hour thy uncle stole,
With juice of cursed hebenon in a vial,
And in the porches of my ears did pour
The leperous distilment; whose effect
Holds such an enmity with blood of man
That swift as quicksilver it courses through
The natural gates and alleys of the body,
And with a sudden vigour doth posset
And curd, like eager droppings into milk,
The thin and wholesome blood: so did it mine;
And a most instant tetter bark d about,
Most lazar like, with vile and loathsome crust,
All my smooth body. (1.5)

One of the serious public health issues in the United State is obesity in children. Obesity a
condition with an excess accumulation and storage of fat content in the body is also defined as a
BMI at or above the 95th percentile for children of the same age and sex. (CDC, 2014). The
rationale to choose this specific population is that obesity increases the risk for any serious physical

According to the CDC, approximately 17 percentages of United States children and adolescents in
between the ages two to19 years are obese. Also, in the past 30 years the childhood obesity
among children has doubled and, increased three times more in the adolescents. A child who is
obese during his or her childhood is more likely to suffer obesity in adulthood. Childhood obesity
has both long term and short term health risks. It is also related with several illnesses and
diseases and is directly correlated to enhance mortality and decrease life expectancy. There are
several factors that increase a child s risk of becoming obese or over weight such as, diet, lack of
exercise, family history, psychological factors and socioeconomic factors. One of the major causes
of childhood is lack of exercise or inactivity. In today s busy lifestyle physical activities in children
are significantly low and the majority of their time is spent watching televisions, playing video
games, and using computers. According to Washington State Department of health, there is also
some scientific evidence that exposure to environmental chemicals could be contributing to the
obesity epidemic (Washington State Department of Health, 2012). Exposure to environmental
chemicals such as tobacco smoke, nicotine, organophosphate insecticides, DDT, and Biphenol can

In this report i will be writing brief description on the functions of the main cell components of the

The cell membrane : is something that lets some things in and some things out of the cell. It is an
outer cover for the cell. If the cell membrane was non existences the cell would spill all over the
place. Its function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell by allowing certain substances
into the cell, while keeping other substances out. It is composed of a thin, double layered sheet of
lipids, around the Cell and is a protective membrane layer around every Cell.

It acts as a storage organelle. It is important in the creation and storage of steroids. It also stores
ions in solution that the cell may need at a later time. Steroids are a type of ringed organic
molecule used for many purposes in an organism. They are not always about building muscle
mass like a weight lifter. The ion storage is important because sometimes a cell needs ions fast. It
might not want to search the environment for ions, so it is easier to have them stored in a pack for
easy use.
Rough ER looks rough on the surface because it is stubbed with very small organelles called
ribosomes. Ribosomes are made of RNA and protein and are the site of protein synthesis. They
are very important in the synthesis and packaging of proteins. Some of those proteins might be
used in the cell and some are sent out. The ribosomes are attached to the membrane of the ER. As
the ribosomes builds the amino acid chain, the chain is pushed into the ER. When the protein is
complete, the rough ER pinches off a vesicle. That vesicle, a small membrane bubble, can move to
the cell membrane or the Golgi apparatus
Golgi apparatus[pic]
The function of the Golgi apparatus is to modify, sort, and package proteins and other materials
from the endoplasmic reticulum for storage in the cell or secretion outside the cell.

The relationship between TFP and stock prices has been observed by analysts for centuries and
most of their results conclude that a growth in the stock prices generates a growth in productivity
on the long term. So the shocks that have an impact on the stock prices and stimulate companies to
invest in new technologies affect productivity on the long term because it usually takes time for the
new technologies to be implemented and generate productivity (Comin et al. 2016).
The relationship between stock prices and total factor productivity is explored by plotting the
productivity over the last 5 years and the evolution of the average annual growth rate of the Dubai
Financial Market (DFM) index. The evolution of the two variables shows there is a weak negative
relationship on the short term between them so, we can say that the productivity numbers are not
consistent with the stock prices. Figure 1. TFP and DFM index

Bill Nichols and the Discourse of Sobriety
Do mockumentary films retain any trace of the discourse of sobriety ? Throughout film history,
documentary and fiction films have denoted the polar opposites of film form with each representing
two distinct and separate traditions, the cinema of reality and the cinema of fiction (Doherty 16).
However what was once a clear distinction has become blurred as the increasing popularity of
mockumentary continues to weaken the assumed boundaries between fact and fiction (Sicinski).
Prior to this blurring of the lines the documentary genre enjoyed a privileged position amongst
screen forms due its the truth claim (Glick). Reflecting Bill Nichols observation that documentary

Despite multiple documentary conventions being incorporated throughout the film, 24 hour

performing at Wilson s club, as well as actual footage of Wilson s television show Granada
Tonight is used throughout the film, Winterbottom ensures that such footage is subtly interwoven
within sequences of fictional events thus eliminating any trace of sobriety that the use of real

little evidence of Bill Nichols observation that documentary employs the discourse of sobriety , as
a number of incidents are exaggerated throughout the film. For example, following a scene in

Examples Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno
This poem was filled with the act of contrappasso; the idea that each sin had a justifiable crime .
Dante s very first descension into hell went like, Above the chasm of pain, which holds the din
/ Of infinite grief: a gulf so dark and deep/ And murky that though I gazed intently down/ Into the
canyon, I could see nothing below. (Inferno IV.5 8). Limbo was described as a sightless zone , but
this circle didn t contain people who were corrupted by sin. Virgilwhile describing the people that
inhabited this circle said, Before you go on, I tell you: they did not sin;/ if they have merit, it can t
suffice without/ Baptism, portal to the faith you maintain./ Some lived before the Christian faith, so
that/ They did not worship God aright... (Inferno... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people, by black air oppressed? (Inferno V. 43 45). The people who fell victim to lust were in a
never ending dust storm. Francesca also went on to describe to their punishment, This one, who
now will never leave my side, Kissed my mouth trembling. A Galeotto, that book! (Inferno V.121

very justifiable punishment. Later on we have the sin of fraud, and this again came with a
justifiable crime. This canto was a very hard one for Dante to encounter because of the grotesque
form of the inhabitants that lived there. Once he saw this scene, he said, Try to imagine, yourself,
how I could have kept/ Tears of my own from falling for the sake/ Of our human image so
grotesquely reshaped, Contorted so the eyes tears fell to wet/ The buttocks at the cleft. (Inferno XX.

Although all of AR670 1 is important to follow, I will start with the army grooming standards, due

Stereotypes Of Beer In Australia
Beer is the number one most popular alcoholic beverage in the world, dating back to 2050bc beer
was first brewed in a Sumerian city of Iraq, this was called Alulueer meaning best beer. In the
current times we live in not too many don t know the main Australian beers such as fosters, victoria
bitter and 4X gold, these bring upon the stereotypes of Australians being loud and heavy drinkers.
Australians have had beerin trade and for personal use since the moment the settlers turned up in
Australia in 1788. Captain cook brought beer on his ship The Endeavor as a matter of preserving
drinking water. Modern Australian beer is typically lager, lager wasn t produced in Australia until

In 2012 13 there were 75.1 million litres of pure alcohol available for consumption in Australia in

With the number of alcohol brands in the world it is difficult for anyone to come to a full decision
on the best beer, these are the 5 most high earning companies of the beer franchise.
There are many by products of beer, the most well known being Ale , lager and light beer, here are
all the different types of beer assorted by color , EBC (European Brewing Convention) and SRM
(standard Reference Method).
The Difference between the brewing method that turns regular beer into light beer is, a beer of
354ml has 150 calories compared to a light beer which only has 110 calories, most of these
calories come from the alcohol but the rest comes from carbohydrates within the beer.
Many wonder which is healthier heavy or light beer, as stated above light beer has less calories,
but within that there is less alcohol, which gives the consumer less of a buzz causing the effect of
multiple beers being drank which would of made heavy beers the better choice if your desire is to

The United States Should Be Vaccinated Against Disease
I believe that all children in the United States should be vaccinated against disease. There is a
large argument in today society involving childhood vaccinations. The argument is whether
children should be forced to have mandatory vaccines, or if parents should be allowed to refuse
these vaccines. One of the main reasons that parents are skeptical of vaccines, is because there
have been more recorded cases of children experiencing serious side effects after receiving the
vaccines. Now with more and more cases of vaccinated diseases popping up all over the country,
the issue is becoming serious. According to the CDC, more than 20 percent of children in America
are not vaccinated against disease. This poses a serious issue for the... Show more content on

Parents have the power to solve the issue but still choose not to. Even if a parent wanted to
vaccinate his or her child, it could still become sick because a child that was old enough to
receive their vaccinations wasn t vaccinated. People also argue that the ingredients in vaccines are
harmful and toxic. There are toxic ingredients in vaccines, but they are harmless in the amount
that is given to the child. In fact, children receive more aluminum from breast milk then they do
vaccines. Finally, vaccines save the government copious amounts of money in societal cost.
Between 1994 and 2014 the government was estimated to save around 1.38 trillion dollars in
societal cost including savings from preventing lost productivity due to disability and early death.
Similarly, the Unites States saves about 27 dollars for every one dollar invested in the DTaP
(Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Whooping cough) vaccinations. In contrast, many parents state that it
should be their choice whether their children are vaccinated or not. One of the biggest
contributing theories about vaccines is that they cause serious side effects. These side effects
include anaphylaxis and intussusceptions, a type of bowel blockage. These side effects are
extremely rare. The only happen in around one per million children that receive vaccines, and
according to Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN, you are 100 times more likely
to be struck by lightning than to have a serious allergic

Psychological Egoism (Philosophy Paper)
Psychological Egoism (Philosophy Paper)
Psychological egoism is the view that people are always selfish. When was the last time you did a
good deed? Did you do it for its own sake, or for your own? The egoist says that all of us are
necessarily self regarding. I shall argue that this view is incorrect.
First we should ask, what kind of claim is this? Is it an a priori claim, or a generalization from
experience? If it were the latter, we could never conclusively prove it: we could never show that
necessarily all actions are selfish. So it must be a priori. But no a priori claim could be
substantive: a priori truths are all analytic (that is, the predicate is contained in the subject). So if
this claim were analytic, it would become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compare the case in which someone types for hours on a philosophy paper and gets a cramp in
his hand. Did I type in order to get the cramp? Of course not. To be sure, it was a foreseeable result
of my typing, but it was not the motive for my heroic efforts.
Perhaps we can go further in refuting the egoist s claims. Phil Washburn presents the opposing view
in his book Philosophical Dilemmas. This is called psychological altruism. The altruist points to
phenomena such as love that seem to show that people can be genuinely other regarding.
What will the egoist say? The egoist has to admit that there seem to be acts of selflessness, such
as the soldier who jumps on a grenade to save his comrades. Here Washburn s egoist appeals to
re interpretation: there is always a competing story the egoist can give that makes the act turn out
to be selfish. Perhaps the soldier wanted to avoid the pain of living on as a coward, or wanted to
become a hero and bring glory to himself and his family.
Yes, perhaps. But it s not enough simply to present such a story: one must also give some reason
to suppose that it is true in the case at hand. Since egoism is an a priori claim, as we have seen, it
supposes that in every case such a story will be not just available but justified by the evidence. But
this is totally implausible. The egoist s just so stories are just so much hot air.

Preventing Hearing Loss By Katherine Bouton
Hearing Loss We all take the power of hearing for granted. Some people are blessed to be able to
hear and some are unfortunately not able to hear. Wouldn t you miss conversations between you
and other people, sales at the mall, or hearing that one album that you love. We have to take care
of ourselves so we can keep our hearingability or we will never be able to hear again. What should
we know about hearing loss? The main causes for hearing loss is head trauma and exposure to
loud sound. The only way we can take care of ourselves is by knowing how to.To prevent
hearing loss we can turn down the volume, use earplugs or remove ourselves from situations
where noise is excessive. More Importantly, Digan states, The major source of dangerous noise is a
personal media player combined with a pair of earbuds , ( Pg.11). For example, Digan writes,

instance, Katherine Bouton explains, Since she never wore a hearing aid her brain essentially

didn t take charge she was never able to heal or gain stronger hearing abilities. Losing her hearing
affected all the activities she loved doing. Moreover, Katherine Bouton states, Faking it takes
effort so I just stayed home and I found myself avoiding social situations (Pg.13). Her family
never knew how to accommodate her but now they do and she feels as if she had her life back

In Conclusion, the only way to prevent hearing loss is by knowing how and taking charge right
away. Do not take hearing for granted because some people have the ability to hear and when
hearing is gone it will never come back. Finally, if you acknowledged your loss people will

Essay on Evaluate Different Techniques for Sampling Evidence
3.1Evaluate different techniques for sampling evidence of assessment, including use of technology
There are a wide variety of techniques used for sampling the evidence of assessment which are all
valuable for different reasons. Below are listed these different techniques
a) Direct observation is the best way to evaluate the assessor s ability to carry out a fair and valid
assessment. The observation should ideally take place in the work environment and involve the
learner carrying out specific tasks as required for inclusion in the learner s portfolio of evidence.
The IQA can quickly establish the effect of the assessment on the learner and can get a good
impression of the rapport that the assessor has with the learner and the ... Show more content on

This can be problematic within the actual workplace
e) Questioning is another method of sampling evidence and will involve the questioning of both
the assessor and the candidate. To ensure that the evidence has the necessary validity the questions
to the learner should happen in private away from the assessor. The need for the learner to feel
that they have the confidence to disclose the true picture of the assessment process is very
important. The question sessions can be recorded on the necessary portfolio documentation but can
add validity if they are recorded on tape or digitally and used as evidence.
f) Underpinning knowledge questions can be sampled effectively as the Awarding Organisation
will provide the answers which can be checked and a total can be calculated and compared with
what the assessor has marked
g) E portfolios are a useful tool for assessments and can be sampled remotely along with virtual
assessment tools such as Skype etc. These can pose problems with validity as the assessor will
need to agree the conditions before assessment to ensure that the tasks have been completed by the
candidate and that there is no plagiarism which may interfere with the assessment process
h) The candidates will generally be allocated an expert witness whilst working on site. This person

Exposing the Weakness of Saint Anselm of Canterbury s Ontological Argument
In a world of scientific inquiry, atheism, and the assassination of God, we are often neglectful of our
Glorious God s existence. With new theories of neuropsychology, quantum physics, gene therapy,
evolution, and psychobiology, we are constantly forced to edge God out of our lives, to be replaced
with cold, empty scientific thought. What, with meme theory, genetic predisposition, evolutionary
spontaneous generation, dark matter, super string theory, multi layered universes, and the
neurological reasons behind consciousness, we are becoming more and more distant from the
reality that is God.
This is disappointing. This is painful. And thankfully, this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His major contribution to apologetics and theology is now called the Ontological Proof, which,
essentially, is a set of logical steps which show that God must exist.
One thousand years later, his proof is still a powerful argument against the plague of atheism. With
it, we can turn the tables on physicists, biologists, chemists, and psychologists. We can fall asleep
at night knowing in our soul that God does indeed exist. We can use the scientist s weapons of logic
and rhetoric to injure that scientist s theories.
But, the skeptic asks, how can we use a one thousand year old argument now, in the year 2000? Is
it not out of date? Is it still applicable in a world of black holes, nuclear physics, Einstein Rosen
bridges, and self replicating memes?
I answer in the affirmative, and I will relate the Ontological Argument in a more contemporaneous
way, with the hope that my more simplistic, understandable methods will prove effective.
Anselm s Ontological Argument:
The essential points of Anselm s arguments are these:
God exists, for there is goodness in the world, and goodness can be good only through a supreme
good that is good through itself, and only God is good through Himself.
God exists, for since whatever exists does so only through something, there must be a supremely
great being that exists through itself and through which all other things exist.
God exists, for there are degrees of worth in

Christian Music Vs. Secular Music
While gazing at a statue of Isaac Watt in Westminster Abbey, the great English poet Victor
Longfellow once quipped, He only did better what no man has ever done well! Professor Edward
B. Reed voiced a similar opinion, In this great mass of poetry (hymnody) there is little that shows
artistic excellence.
Both men were correct. In terms of artistic merit, Christian hymnody pales greatly in quality in
comparison to secular music. The reason for such a disparity is simple: the world s best composers,
musicians, and songwriters do not work for the church; they work in the secular music industry.
How then, do the local churches, especially smaller parishes, achieve excellence regarding music in
liturgy? In a word, they do not because they cannot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, in order for the masses to accept it, contemporary forms of music must sound
contemporary to the modern ear. To achieve a high degree of authenticity, modern church music
must be played on modern instrumentation by musicians who possess specific experience and
particular knowledge and the appropriate training. The modern mission constituency is too
sophisticated to tolerate and accept watered down renditions of rock, country, folk, or blues music
played on pipe organs by classically trained pipe organists who noticeably misunderstand and
disrespect the subtleties inherent in 21st Century music. At best, they merely retool modern genres
to suit and satisfy classical palates.
J. S. Bach s B Minor Mass with its great chorale fugues, elaborately ornamented arias, and
orchestral accompaniment, may very well be the greatest chorale work ever composed; however,
liturgical music is ill conceived as a great art form. Accessibility is paramount and, at its finest,
liturgical music remains natural, unpretentious, and

My Philosophy of Teaching Essay
My Philosophy of Teaching
Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the
day we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school.
Throughout their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different
views, beliefs, and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all
unique to the teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it s their job, and they
need the paycheck. Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who
truly make a difference.

Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject.
Children need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you
care, they are more likely to succeed.
Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all
students, and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those
expectations. Teachers should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning
environment where students can make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my
mother always told me, Practice makes perfect and If at first you don t succeed, try, try again. At
times, students may become frustrated. Teachers need to encourage their students and give them
positive reinforcement. They should help their students to never give up.
At times, even the best teachers may not be coming through to their students. What may seem like
the perfect lesson plan for one class may not be such a success in another. Yet good teachers have
the ability to recognize this. They monitor and adjust. Teachers need to observe their students to see
if the lesson is coming through to them. If it is not, the teacher should not give up and move on to
new material. They need to adjust, and reteach the lesson in a way that will come though to the

Field Study on Helping Behavior
Abstract
The aim of this field study was to examine helping behavior among passerbies in crowded and
non crowded areas. The study was carried out in an informal manner where the actor would lie
down in the given areas, and the observers would record the amount of people who stopped to
help or enquire. Due to the concept of the study, the passerby s were the indirect participants and
the objective of the study was discreetly disclosed to each passerby who bent down to offer
assistance. Results showed that people tend to show more concern and interest in a less crowded
area.

Gradually, people will tend to feel less and less responsible for their actions towards other
individuals especially those whom they do not know (Levine, 2003).
Other than that, F. Stephen Bridges and Neil P. Coady(1996) carried out a study on helpfulness
using a technique called lost letters where 420 lost, stamped letters were dropped carefully and
equally in shop isles, besides public pay phones and sidewalks across Broward County in
Florida. A total of 210 letters were dropped in the cities and the remaining 210 in smaller towns
across the county, as the aim was to find out which location had a higher return rate of letters.
The envelopes consisted of addresses of two normal addresses addressed to B. J. Wilson (control
group) and Dandee Wilson as well as three social deviant addresses which were Prostitute
Education , Legalized Prostitution , and Safer Hustling . However, out of the 420 letters that were
scattered across the county, only 199 were mailed back from both the locations combined. The
results took an unexpected twist and showed that there was a larger figure of return rates from the
cities in contrast to the small towns (Bridges amp; Coady, p. 309).
The hypothesis is that passerby s would portray more helping attitudes and behaviors in non
crowded areas and would appear to be less helpful in crowded settings. This is in line with the
research conducted by Lattane and Dabbs (1975), suggesting that there is a correlation between the

Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Essay
Emotional Intelligence and Leadership
It was Daniel Goleman who first brought the term emotional intelligence to a wide audience with
his 1995 book of that name, and it was Goleman who first applied the concept to business with his
1998 HBR article, reprinted here. In his research at nearly 200 large, global companies, Goleman
found that while the qualities traditionally associated with leadership such as intelligence,
toughness, determination, and vision are required for success, they are insufficient. Truly effective
leaders are also distinguished by a high degree of emotional intelligence, which includes self
awareness, self regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skill.

How can you tell if someone has high emotional intelligence, for example, and how can you

Most large companies today have employed trained psychologists to develop what are known as

  • 3. Clothes In The Victorian Era The Victorian Era, was an era of etiquette, manners, clothes, money, social activity and tea parties. Etiquette, manners, clothes, and money were all the victorian era was about. Men, women, and children were all different and had different roles in Victorian society. Clothes stated who you were and how much money you had. Men and women had to dress more appropriate and social, but children were a tad bit more free clothing choices, to a certain age. The Victorian Era was an era of the wealthy dressing fancy and going to parties, and poor dressing for the poor and working their butts off. Children had to dress almost the same, but not quite. Children got to wear almost whatever they wanted, but as long as they dressed appropriate. Men had more power but they still were expected to dress nice. Women stayed home a lot of times and acted as the housewives. Children were a tad freer, clothing matter. • 4. Asahi Breweries Summary We recommend proceeding with proposed investment plan with some revision. Detail analyses and rationalities state in the following sections. Industry Analysis Japan s beer industry is concentrated and highly regulated. The industry was projected to grow by approximate 7.6% for 1988 as 1987 realized growth. There were mainly four kinds of beers: Dry, Draft, Lager, Melt. Consumer taste was graduating changing. Their preferences were switching from Lager beer to dry and draft beer. The government has tremendous power in this industry in terms of price and distribution (a distributor or retailer needs a license issued by the government to sell beers). Therefore, both the beer license and structure of distribution channels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Absence, or even a poor execution, of any of these three elements could lead to the logic of strategy to fail. Investment Analysis Strategic Perspective Strategically, Asahi s investment plan was sound. Before the big hit of Dry Beer , Asahi was considered a marginal player in the market with a 10% market share. As the taste of Japanese consumers shifted towards dry beer, we expect that the dry beer sector would become the driver of the beer industry. As shown in the case, the share of draft beer sales (dry beer was considered one type of draft beers) had increased from 21% in 1980 to 50% in 1987. Asahi became a leader in this sector with a 54.1% as calculated with the monthly sales numbers in 1988. However, during the Dry War initiated by its competitors, Asahi was only able to supply 70% of the orders placed in the summer of 1988. This caused not only lost sales, but also failure to match distributors expectations of the firm, thus threatening the firm s leadership position in the sector. With the expansion plan, Asahi would be able to satisfy demands in a fast increasing sector. Since the retail price of beer in Japan was virtually regulated at a uniform level by the government, the competition was about creating capacity to satisfy demand and delivering beers through the distribution network. Two key factors are capacity and distribution network. The Ministry of Finance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Health Savings Accounts By Linda J. Blumberg The health savings accounts were created in 2003, and the main purpose was to cover out of pocket medical expenses during the year and to obtain wellness and greater quality of care. To open health saving account, the person should buy an inexpensive health insurance plan which usually has a high deductible. Therefore, the Health saving account provides the opportunity to cover out of pocket costs. The American Benefits Council, from Statement before the Subcommittee on Health of the House Committee on Ways and Means believes that health savings accounts are working successfully and help many millions of Americans. Most recent data shows that people benefit from health saving accounts and that they have sufficient amount on the account to cover out of pocket expenses. Furthermore, data indicates that health saving accounts are not being used as tax shelters by people with high income. It reveals that majority of individuals who has an account has incomes below $60,000. The most important that the same survey establishes that 41% of health saving accounts purchasers did not have medical insurance in the past six months period. Many people point out that money on those accounts may be used for many reasons. However, the early data showed that customers of the accounts are using their HSAs as proposed mostly to cover qualified medical costs. The council has confidence in those imposing third party substantiation requirements on HSAs will increase expenses and limit Americans opportunities for health care coverage. These additional costs will limit the attractiveness and efficacy of health savings accounts. Linda J. Blumberg has a diverse opinion about health savings accounts. She demonstrates that those accounts could be beneficial only for high income customers. She states that The GAO analysis found that the average adjusted gross income of HAS participants was about $139,000 in 2005, compared with $57,000 for all other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These were David Bowie s famous words and conversation between a goblin in the movie Labyrinth. Jim Henson uses three different types of irony in the movie Labyrinth, to convey the feeling of surprise in the viewer. How is surprise created in a motion picture? The author uses the literary device of irony. The three common types of irony are verbal, dramatic, and situational irony. Initially, verbal irony is when a character says something but does the opposite. To go along, dramatic irony is when the viewer/reader knows something that the characters don t. • 7. The Lack of Free Speech in the Military As a member of the United States military, there are times that the very freedoms that are being defended are not extended to those sailors and soldiers that are in charge of that task. One of those freedoms is freedom of speech. As a veteran of the United States Navy, I find the limitation of speech for a member of the militaryto be contradictory at best. The very fact that members of the armed forcescannot speak freely about government officials, as well as government issues that affect their lives, seems to be controversial because it limits one of the freedoms these sailors and soldiers have vowed to protect. To oppose the right of free speech of any member of the military takes away from the importance of the job they do. It has been argued that a member of the military should be mindful of whom they work for and the chain of command that orders come from, and that any display of dissatisfaction can be seen as disobedience or even treason. I support members of the military being able to voice their thoughts on issues that impact their lives, as well as the lives of their families. There are a few reasons why I support this. Simply put, as Americans they have the right of freedom of speech. Given the responsibilities of these sailors and soldiers in their day to day jobs, they should be entrusted to know what to say and what not to say. Most people take for granted the right to speak one s mind, right or wrong, and have nearly no ramifications for doing so. When one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Hyper 1940 For centuries people dreamed of the transportation of the future. Would there be flying cars? How could humans reach their desired destination in half the time it normally takes them? With unique transportation comes many irreversible risks many are not willing to take. Currently, a man by the name of Elon Musk has started pushing for the transportation of the future, the Hyperloop. The Hyperloop resembles a futuristic trainand Musk claims that it could reach speeds of 800 miles per hour, meaning a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles would be cut down to thirty minutes. At first, this news seems incredible. People could visit loved ones more often, plan fun day trips that were not easily planned before, and work in places not possible before because of the commute time . Upon further inspection and research into this proposed transportation of the future there become unanswered questions. Will the general public feel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Hyperloop would be a miracle for people who commute or travel often. Unfortunately, miracles are not always realistic. A tried and true method of travel will always be the airplane. Soaring safely through the clouds and traveling the world allows people the luxury of experiencing new places. The airplane has more routes, less unanswered questions, and is drastically cheaper than the proposed Hyperloop. On the other hand, the Hyperloop would be much faster and offer a pleasing futuristic aesthetic. Both forms of transportation aim to please travelers, but the plane offers many more definite benefits. Passengers traveling by plane have the advantage of getting to their destination much faster than if they drove or took a train. As of right now, the plan for the Hyperloop is strictly in California, which would make riding it impossible for some people. Most people are skeptical, as they should be. The general public would rather stick with modes of transportation they are familiar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reality, however, completely contradicts this statement. The average American shows tendencies of having a small attention span, an easily influenced mindset, and ignorance. The Super Bowl, one of the biggest events in America, has millions upon millions of people watching yearly. In this past super bowl, An estimated 103.4 million people watched according to CBS news. For the majority of individuals, however, the commercials stand out from the football game as more entertaining. For this reason, having a commercial during the Super Bowl gives companies a spotlight in the hope of gaining publicity for the product or service.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As time goes on, citizens of this country become less knowledgeable about the world around us. With more opportunities than ever before for the chance of wisdom, society does the opposite. The super bowl commercial promoting Australia shows just how ignorant the American people are. The commercial originally starts as a made up movie trailer. Later in the Advertisement, Hemsworth claims the movie trailer is only an advertisement for Australia. Using this method of trickery, the commercial grabs the attention of viewers through the idea of Hemsworth staring in a new movie. Once the Advertisement has your attention, the commercial then promotes Australia. Not only is this a genius move to promote the beaches, but the ignorance of viewers also played a role. The majority of individuals fell for the tactic, and then laughed it off as if it was no big deal. However, subconsciously what viewers thought as just a funny commercial actually promoted Australia heavily. Creating a commercial that stands out helps with sales tremendously, and Australia figured this out. Currently this nation deals with ignorance. For the kids, costumes are exciting and are a symbol of all the hard work they put into their training this year. However, for parents, costumes are a financial burden added on after paying a years worth of tutition costs. What if I told you there was a way for you to please both your students and their parents and get high quality costumes at affordable prices? It sounds to good to be true, but that s exactly what we do at Costumes On Call. Background, Problem, and Purpose Costumes On Call is a dance costume rental system that allows you to rent the latest costumes for your dancers at a fraction of their retail value. For the past three years, we have been provide studio owners, like yourself, with a new choice when selecting costumes for performances. We understand that buying costumes can be a tedious task for you as the studio owner. Not only does it take time to sift through costume catalogues to find a piece that speaks to your dances vision, but you also need to consider the costs. Costumes can cost upwards of $75 each, which isn t too steep of a charge for a child in one class. However, most children take anywhere from 2 to 10 classes a year. That does not include dancers who are part of the competition team, who can perform an additional 10 dances per season. The worst part about costumes isn t their lofty price tags, it ... • 12. The Theory Of Scientific Management 3. Scientific Management It is necessary to understand where the organization of work is headed. Through specialization, subordinate can upgrade their abilities or professions and there was a concerted effort to identify key aspects of work and organization which could be used to achieve efficiency through immutable principles. Taylor thinks managementshould merge with science to enhance the effectiveness. 3.1 Taylorism by Fred W. • 14. Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance known to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional display. People, objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the theme that the book Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is about Paul Fisher, a boy having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what it appears to be. The first symbol Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school football star without impaired vision unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his eyes were damaged from Erik. Paul states, I remembered Erik s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them (255). This shows that Paul did not realize the dark past behind his disability and that Erik could have done such a thing to him since Erik s external shape is much clearer than the looking of himself. Another reality behind Erik s typical appearance is that he orders his sidekick, Arthur Bauer to murder Luis Cruz (275). Not even enough with this, Erik stoles the jewelry from his neighborhood... In 1635, tragedy struck again when lope lost another son and his youngest daughter was abducted off the coast of Venezuela. Lope de Vega was infected with scarlet fever and died later that year, in Madrid, on August 27th. In his life s work, Lope de Vega broke the neoclassical three unities (place, time and action). He showed that he knew the established rules of poetry, but excused himself from them stating that a vulgar Spaniard cares nothing about them. He wrote so his readers could easily relate and understand him, he stood as a defender of the common language of ordinary life. Unfortunately, the books he read, his literary connections, and his fear of Italian criticism all exercised an influence upon his naturally robust spirit and, like so many others he caught the prevalent contagion of mannerism and of pompous phraseology. Throughout film history, documentary and fiction films have denoted the polar opposites of film form with each representing two distinct and separate traditions, the cinema of reality and the cinema of fiction (Doherty 16). However what was once a clear distinction has become blurred as the increasing popularity of mockumentary continues to weaken the assumed boundaries between fact and fiction (Sicinski). Prior to this blurring of the lines the documentary genre enjoyed a privileged position amongst screen forms due its the truth claim (Glick). Reflecting Bill Nichols observation that documentary employs the discourse of sobriety (3), the truth claim is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite multiple documentary conventions being incorporated throughout the film, 24 hour Party People retains little trace of sobriety as Winterbottom s use of interviews, direct address, archival footage and narration aims to portray a predominantly fictional world as an actual real world, rather than depicting the world as it is. Although real archival footage of Joy Division performing at Wilson s club, as well as actual footage of Wilson s television show Granada Tonight is used throughout the film, Winterbottom ensures that such footage is subtly interwoven within sequences of fictional events thus eliminating any trace of sobriety that the use of real footage may have allowed for. Furthermore it can be argued that 24 hour Party People retains little evidence of Bill Nichols observation that documentary employs the discourse of sobriety , as a number of incidents are exaggerated throughout the film. For example, following a scene in which Wilson s wife is shown getting close with musician Howard Devoto, the cleaner present in the scene faces the camera, reveals himself as the real Howard Devoto and states that he has no recollection of ... Dante s very first descension into hell went like, Above the chasm of pain, which holds the din / Of infinite grief: a gulf so dark and deep/ And murky that though I gazed intently down/ Into the canyon, I could see nothing below. (Inferno IV.5 8). Limbo was described as a sightless zone , but this circle didn t contain people who were corrupted by sin. Francesca also went on to describe to their punishment, This one, who now will never leave my side, Kissed my mouth trembling. A Galeotto, that book! (Inferno V.121 122). Since Francesa fell victim to lust, she has to forever be around her lover. That sin had a very justifiable punishment. Later on we have the sin of fraud, and this again came with a justifiable crime. This canto was a very hard one for Dante to encounter because of the grotesque form of the inhabitants that lived there. There is a large argument in today society involving childhood vaccinations. The argument is whether children should be forced to have mandatory vaccines, or if parents should be allowed to refuse these vaccines. One of the main reasons that parents are skeptical of vaccines, is because there have been more recorded cases of children experiencing serious side effects after receiving the vaccines. In fact, children receive more aluminum from breast milk then they do vaccines. Finally, vaccines save the government copious amounts of money in societal cost. Between 1994 and 2014 the government was estimated to save around 1.38 trillion dollars in societal cost including savings from preventing lost productivity due to disability and early death. Did you do it for its own sake, or for your own? The egoist says that all of us are necessarily self regarding. I shall argue that this view is incorrect. First we should ask, what kind of claim is this? Is it an a priori claim, or a generalization from experience? If it were the latter, we could never conclusively prove it: we could never show that necessarily all actions are selfish. So it must be a priori. But no a priori claim could be substantive: a priori truths are all analytic (that is, the predicate is contained in the subject). So if this claim were analytic, it would become ... Phil Washburn presents the opposing view in his book Philosophical Dilemmas. This is called psychological altruism. The altruist points to phenomena such as love that seem to show that people can be genuinely other regarding. What will the egoist say? The egoist has to admit that there seem to be acts of selflessness, such as the soldier who jumps on a grenade to save his comrades. Here Washburn s egoist appeals to re interpretation: there is always a competing story the egoist can give that makes the act turn out to be selfish. Perhaps the soldier wanted to avoid the pain of living on as a coward, or wanted to become a hero and bring glory to himself and his family. Yes, perhaps. But it s not enough simply to present such a story: one must also give some reason to suppose that it is true in the case at hand. Since egoism is an a priori claim, as we have seen, it supposes that in every case such a story will be not just available but justified by the evidence. But this is totally implausible. The question sessions can be recorded on the necessary portfolio documentation but can add validity if they are recorded on tape or digitally and used as evidence. f) Underpinning knowledge questions can be sampled effectively as the Awarding Organisation will provide the answers which can be checked and a total can be calculated and compared with what the assessor has marked g) E portfolios are a useful tool for assessments and can be sampled remotely along with virtual assessment tools such as Skype etc. These can pose problems with validity as the assessor will need to agree the conditions before assessment to ensure that the tasks have been completed by the candidate and that there is no plagiarism which may interfere with the assessment process h) The candidates will generally be allocated an expert witness whilst working on site.
