A manager's role is to manage resources like money, market, materials, methods and people. Management helps organizations function smoothly and utilize resources properly to be successful, just as individuals manage daily activities like budgeting and shopping. It is a systematic process that is flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.

In our everyday life we do many things like, shopping, saving
pocket money, purchasing vegetables etc. In all these activities we are actually
managing many things unknowingly. Like how much money I have? What things I want
to purchase, give priority to important things, budgeting etc. Then at the time of actual
purchasing we see what the quality of the product. It is nothing but the management
hence F.Y.Taylor defines management as “Management is the art of knowing what you
want to do and then seeing that it is done in the best and cheapest way”.
In organizations to increase the efficiency the management is used
in broader prospective. The main objective of all organizations is to earn profit, likewise
in our example we need to manage money, price, quantity, quality, budget to get a good
product in cheapest way. In the same way the organizations need to manage money,
market, material, method and men. This is nothing but the finance, marketing,
production, operation and human resource departments. And it is a manager who can
manage the management in an organization.
Management is an organized purposeful activity involving planning,
organizing, staffing, directing and controlling human efforts. It is a dynamic process, for
example the introduction of the new tax VAT in the market, the cost of the product
needs to be immediately managed. It is a systematic and interrelated process i.e. the
production depends on demand, demand on customer in that way. It is also flexible
processes if demand is less than managers takes the decision to slower down the
production or increases it according to market conditions.
Management is like a clutch of a car which controls all other parts
of the car, like accelerator i.e. speed up or slower down the production, Break like a
finance department, steering wheel like the human resources. And this clutch is in the
hands of manager who drives the organization.
Management is intangible in nature means we all know it exist but it
is incapable of being perceived by touch. It is a discipline like we does in our everyday
life unknowingly.
The management is the administration which helps the organization
to effective utilization of resources, and achievement of organizational goals. It develops
leadership qualities and opens the new era of career. It is required in all levels of
organization as well as life to direct us towards the success.
