ERRAT is a web-based tool that analyzes the statistics of non-bonded interactions in protein structures. It takes a protein structure file as input and plots an error function value. This value indicates the reliability of the structure, with higher values corresponding to more reliable regions. ERRAT also plots the results on a graph dividing the structure into green, yellow and red regions based on reliability. It is more sensitive than other tools and can verify crystallography-determined structures, with an overall score above 80 considered an accurately predicted model.
3. ERRAT is a web based tool
that is utilized for protein
model evaluation, either
predicted model or
experimentally determined
and downloaded from
Protein Data Bank.
Introduction
4. “ERRAT analyzes the statistics of non-
bonded interactions between different
atom types and plots the value of error
functions.”
5. Objectives
Research
Outcome
ERRAT is utilized for
analysis of protein model
of non-bonded residues &
protein model
evaluation.
Available on
ERRAT is a web based
tool that can accessed
through any web
browser.
Analyzes
ERRAT is used for the
backbone statistical
analysis of the protein
model.
6. Input
The server requires
to upload the file
containing the
target protein
structure.
The server results in
plotting initial model and
a final model. According
to the analysis by ERRAT,
the final model is
significantly improved
relative to the initial
model.
Output
Input & Output
7. Comparison
Compared the reported
structure to a database of
reliable high-resolution
structures.
Sensitivity
The method is sensitive
to smaller errors than 3-
D Profile analysis
Prediction
The program verify protein
structures determined by
crystallography.
Verification
Verifying protein
structures determined
by crystallography.
Error
Function
The Error function is
based on the statistics of
non-bonded atom-atom
interactions.
Methodology
Error Values
Error values are
plotted as a function
of the position of a
sliding 9-residue
window.
8. This is how ERRAT evaluates the
particular model of protein. The
graph represents three different
regions for specific residues. The
description for these regions are
given in the table.
9. Regions Description
1st Green Highly Reliable Validated
2nd Yellow Not much Reliable/Warning
3rd Red Error
Results Analysis
10. ERRAT (protein model
evaluation tool) is
sensitive to smaller
errors than 3-D Profile
analysis. Overall score
>= 80 is considered as
more than an accurately
predicted model.
