Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- 2. How to use EPO Your doctor will tell you the exact dose you need and the duration of the treatment. It is administrated subcutaneously and we recommend that the administration is at the same time each day. ! 1.Wash your hands. ! 2. About 15 minutes prior to administration, remove the syringe from the refrigerator for it to warm up. Make sure the liquid is clear and free from particles. ! 3. Remove a needle from the pack, fix it securely on to the syringe and remove the protective cap from the needle. ! 4. Expel air from the syringe and needle. Do this lightly tapping on the upper half of the syringe.Then hold the syringe vertically and the needle upwards, and gently push the plunger upwards. Keep pushing the plunger until the amount of EPO in the syringe is as prescribed. ! 5. Clean the skin at the injection site using an alcohol wipe. Form a skin fold by pinching the skin between thumb and forefinger. ! 6. Insert the needle into the skin fold with a quick, firm action. Inject the EPO solution.Withdraw the needle and apply pressure over the injection site with a dry, sterile pad. 7. Finally lay the syringe into the container.. The most suitable places for injection are the front of the thights and the abdomen except for the area around the.navel. It is better to change the injection site every day to avoid the risk of soreness at any one site.

If you forget any dose ! If you have forgotten to inject a dose, speak to your doctor or pharmacist to find out when you should inject the next dose. Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten injection! ! Cautions ! Do not use this medication if you are allergic to it or any of the product components and if you have blood pressure problems that cannot be controlled.! ! Store conditions ! Store in a refrigerator (2-8 ºC) It is important to keep them in the fridge but not the freezer.! The syringe can be kept out of the fridge for a single period of up to three days at room temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
