INTRODUCTION
 Undergraduates are required to prepare a proposal to the
Development Office UiTM, Shah Alam. Among the
elements to be considered for development are:
 Accessibility
 Circulation/parking
 Public Amenities
 Security/Main Lounge/Multipurpose Convention Hall
 Facility for Disable
 Commercial areas/Bistro/ATM/Retail Areas, Café, Restaurant
 Sanitary System and Health
 Leisure Area/Sport Facilities/Gymnasium/Recreational Facilities
 IT Center/Child Care Center/R&D Center
 Residence Hotel/Hotel
 Green Building Certification
 Others ( suitable add-on components which complement the
concept development)
PROJECT REQUIREMENTPROJECTREQUIREMENT
 To ensure the concept of the proposed project does not contradict
any development plans, policies or any decisions of the
Government of Malaysia.
 To ensure EIA study under the legal requirement as stated in
section 34A, Environmental Quality Act, 1974 in respect to the
EIA for Prescribed Activity.
 To identify the suitability of the site location for development
project through the site visits and analysis of the existing
information.
EIA OBJECTIVESEIAOBJECTIVES
 To predict the arising environmental issues due to the
development works that conducted at the site location.
 To evaluate the measures in protecting and mitigating
environmental problems simultaneously to resolve socio
economic issues.
 To communicate the information gathered in the EIA study with
the parties involves in the project in order to obtain approval
from the authority.
EIA OBJECTIVESEIAOBJECTIVES
 Based on the Department of Environment shown
that, overall index air quality at (Shah Alam) is good.
So these places have no problem with air quality.
EXISTING ENVIRONMENT
Air Quality Status
2014
AIRQUALITYIMPACT
 The location for the proposed Uitm Sentral site are at “Bus
Parking Terminal” and is located near the drainage ditch
connecting rainwater and water from the UiTM
transported to nearby storm drains before the diverted a
nearby river (Klang river).
WATERQUALITYIMPACT EXISTING ENVIRONMENT
Analytical results obtained
showed the river water
quality of Sungai Klang
generally falls within Class
III and in good condition
 Noise levels are measured at the site.
 The main source of noise coming from the main road
nearby. Maximum noise levels occurring in the
morning and evening for the increased number of
vehicles on the road.
NOISELEVEL EXISTING ENVIRONMENT
Causes
 Air pollution during construction comes from
road dust, plant and machineries, of which
the leading pollutants are carbon monoxide
and hydrocarbons.
Action
 As roads within the project area will be cleaned
and sprinkled at regular intervals to reduce
fugitive dust.
 Strengthen maintenance of transportation
vehicles, so as to ensure a discharge of vehicle
exhaust gas according to relevant standards.
EIA DURING CONSTRUCTIONAIRQUALITY
DUST EIA DURING CONSTRUCTION
Causes
 pollutions on ambient air by the proposed
project include mainly dusts from surface
levelling at the construction site, movements
of transportation vehicles and their
loading/unloading of construction materials,
earthwork by construction machinery and
temporary piling of spoils
Action
 Enclosure walls with a height of 2 meters or above will be
built around the construction site.
 A water ditch shall be made at the exit to and from the
construction site, so as to reduce the amount of earth on
tires of vehicle to and from the construction site.
 Covers will be made on materials to be transported or
they will be transported by enclosed vehicles, routes of
transportation vehicles shall avoid residential quarters
and other environmentally sensitive areas, and vehicle
speed shall also be limited.
Causes
 Suspended solid due to soil run off due to
heavy rain.
 Fuel. (oil spill from the plant and
machineries on site is also discharged into
the drain during rain)
Action
 Run off water from construction site will be routed
to a temporary sedimentation tank for settlement
of suspended solids.
WATERQUALITY EIA DURING CONSTRUCTION
NOISE EIA DURING CONSTRUCTION
Causes
 Noises in connection with the project include noise
by operating port machinery and noise by
transportation vehicles.
Action
 Hoarding around the site
 Limits on working hours
 Service vehicles and machineries regularly
 replacing exhaust systems as soon as they become
noisy
 turning off engines when they are not in use
SOLIDWASTE EIA DURING CONSTRUCTION
Causes
 Waste material on site that are not properly
maintained.
Action
 Control the disposal of waste at the site need to be
done for the purpose of avoiding contamination of
soil and groundwater.
 Proposed Project can be implemented at the
proposed site without creating significant
adverse impacts on the environment.
 If all of the action proposed to be made and
applied at the project site pollution levels in the
surrounding area the project can be reduced.
