Plot is the series of events that make up a
narrative or a structure of interrelated actions,
consciously selected and arranged by the
author.

5. CONFLICT
Conflict is essential in every story as it is the
driving force of the narrative and builds
narrative tension. It presents the struggle
between two sides due to a disagreement in
values,desires,motivationsetc.

10. ‘The Fox and the Grapes’
One hot summer’s day a fox was strolling through an
orchard when he came to a bunch of grapes that were
ripening on a vine, hanging over a lofty branch. ‘Those
grapes are just the things to quench my thirst,’ said
the fox. Drawing back a few paces, the fox took a run
and a jump, but just missed the bunch of grapes.
Turning round again he jumped up, but with no greater
success. Again and again the fox tried to jump up and
reach the juicy grapes, but at last had to give it up, and
walked away with his nose in the air, saying: ‘Oh well, I
am sure they are sour anyway.’

Internal conflict - is the conflict the protagonist faces within
themself; this could be because of their fears, their lack of
confidence, their desires or other issues on their mind.
Internal conflict is usually characterised by resolving two
oppositethoughtswithinanindividual.

17. DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONFLICT
Charactervs.self
In the character vs. self conflict, the protagonist must come to
terms with their inner struggles and must overcome this to
reachtheirfinalgoal.
Charactervs.Character
Character vs. character conflict occurs when two characters
holdopposingviewstoeachother.

Instead of the protagonist going against another character,
this conflict involves the protagonist going against society
(e.g.societalconventions,norms,customs,valuesetc.)
Charactervs.Nature
Naturalforcesthreatencharactersorforcethemtostayapart
in this conflict. The natural forces can be anything from a
stronganimaltoanaturaldisaster.

By putting characters against supernatural forces such as
monsters and ghosts great tension can be created due to
theunequalpositions(withthecharacterbeingweaker).
