2. The aim of this project is to save
the energy.
At the time when people are not
present at the working place
lighting can be made OFF and
when people come to the area
lighting can be made sufficiently
brighter.

6. PIR Sensor
Every body emits radiation to
what we call black body
radiation.
These radiation (IR) is invisible to
human eye.
We are using PIR sensor to sense
these radiation in our project.
Material used: gallium nitride,
caesium nitride, polyvinyl
chloride
8. LDR (light dependent resistor)
â LDR are useful in light/dark
sensor circuits.
â Used in ON/OFF in street
lights.
â Have high resistance, but
when illuminated resistance
drop.
â It is an electronic opto
sensor.
â Material used : thin film of
cadmium sulphide on a
substrate on ceramics.
â Working.
10. We have used DS 1621 thermostat.
It is a non-contact digital type
temperature transducer.
Suitable for measuring room
temperatures.
Range : -55 to 125â°C.
Thermostat
11. SDA: 2 wire series data i/o
SCL: 2 wire series clock.
GND: ground
Tout: thermostat output.
A0-A2: chip address input.
VDD: power supply voltage.
Thermostat
12. ZCD
â Stand for Zero Crossing Detector.
â It detects the transition ofsignal
waveform from +ve to âve.
â It provide a narrow pulse that coincides
exactly with zero voltage conditions.
13. Dimmer
Dimmer are the device used to
vary the brightness of the light.
By increasing or decreasing the
RMS voltage & hence the mean
power of the lamp.
Built from: silicon controlled
rectifier (SCR), triac etc.
14. Optocoupler
Optocoupler is a device that uses a short
optical transmission path to transfer a
signal between elements of the circuit.
Electrical signal is converted to the optical
signal and then back to electrical signal.
The intermediate stage between
transformation of electrical to optical
signal & vice versa is optocoupler stage.
15. â It is a type of display used in digital
watches, portable computers.
â LCD display utilize two sheets of
polarization material with liquid crystal
solution between them.
â It is low cost device.
â Uses less power.
â We are making use of LCD in our project
to display the PIR mode & room
temperature.
â We are using 2line by 16 character
optrex LCD.

18. FUTURE SCOPES
We think the future scope for this
can be the development of this
project with wireless network.
In our project we have connected
all sensors to microcontroller via
wires. This can be developed by
placing different sensors in place of
wires to activate the
microcontroller.
