This document provides an outline for a 60-minute training session on using EBSCOadmin to create reports and statistics. The outline includes time allotted for an introduction, overview of topics, training content covering reports and statistics, information on EBSCO support resources, and a closing. Key sections to highlight include usage reports, link activity reports, graphical reports, and COUNTER compliant reports.
From Spreadsheets to SUSHI: Five Years of Assessing Use of E-ResourcesCharleston Conference
This document discusses the transition from manually collecting and compiling electronic resource usage statistics to using the SUSHI protocol and EBSCO's Usage Consolidation tool over a five year period at two universities. It describes setting up the tool to automatically harvest COUNTER-compliant usage reports from various vendors via SUSHI, loading any remaining reports manually, and ongoing cleanup work. The tool provides centralized access to usage data and standardized reporting to help with collection development decisions. While it has reduced the manual work, some spreadsheet calculations are still needed and not all resources can be loaded. The document envisions further automation through a shared SUSHI portal for libraries in a consortium.
An Improved Open Url Resolver Menu SystemGeorge Boston
This document summarizes the redesign of an OpenURL resolver menu system at Western Michigan University Libraries. The libraries investigated user needs through literature reviews and stakeholder interviews. They developed tools like persistent URLs and real-time help to meet identified needs. The redesigned menu used icons and simplified links, and was tested with stakeholders before being launched in 2007. Usage continues to be monitored and improvements made to further enhance access to library resources.
As libraries move to become centers of digital collections, maintaining information on the usage of these collections is ever more critical. It's also essential to be able to maintain common measures across heterogeneous collections, in order to be able to effectively analyze how the library's collection dollars are being spent. The Project COUNTER Code of Practice and the SUSHI protocol aid in this work. This session will explore the newly-published Release 4 of the COUNTER Code of Practice for e-Resources and highlight its use in conjunction with the SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative) protocol in an active library environment.
This document provides an outline for a 90-minute training session on EBSCOadmin. It includes:
- An introduction (10 minutes) to welcome participants and overview topics
- An overview (5 minutes) of EBSCOadmin functionality and the 5 main tabs
- Training content (60 minutes) to demonstrate key areas within EBSCOadmin like customizing services, searching, limiters, and result settings
- Information about EBSCO's support site (5 minutes) for future reference
- A closing (10 minutes) and time for participants to provide feedback
The outline can be adapted depending on time and participant experience. Settings highlighted in bold are suggested as key points to cover.

This presentation was provided by Adam Chandler of The SUSHI Maintenance Advisory Group, and Hanna Levay of The University of Washington Libraries, during the NISO event "SUSHI: Beyond Trial into Real Use," held on October 2, 2008.
The document proposes an e-library management system with the following key features:
1. It allows users to search for documents, view their account, place holds, and pay fines. Administrative staff can add users and materials as well as manage checkouts and returns.
2. The system will use ASP.NET, VB.NET, and StarUML. Data will be stored across 8 tables covering media, users, accounts, and other entities.
3. System design will include use cases, a class diagram, and code implementation. The goals are to facilitate research and provide easy access to library materials for students.

BIS 221 Week 1 Hardware and Software Recommendations
BIS 221 Assignment Week 2 Apply Customer Service Support Proposal
The survey results indicate support for hybrid library collections containing records of different types and quality. Respondents supported including both expert-created and machine-created metadata, as well as metadata records accompanied by representative full text. Fuller Dublin Core records containing additional metadata fields were strongly preferred over minimal records. Descriptions and selected pages of full text were preferred types of natural language data to include. Records created by robots but reviewed by experts received more support than fully automated or fully manual records.

Six important factors to consider before choosing a technology jon solomon Colorado State Library
Choosing the technology before knowing the goals of a project is a common mistake. Often this leads to a feeling the library or a project group is “implementing technology for technology’s sake.” To ensure you are selecting the right technology, it is important to ensure the proper research and attention is paid to matching project and library needs with the right technology.
In this session, we will guide you through six important areas for consideration, prior to choosing a technology; these steps will allow you to complete side-by-side comparisons that will help you make a good decision for the best service outcome. We will also offer an opportunity to review these six concepts through a high level practical exercise by reviewing these steps for selecting a Content Management System (CMS).
In this webinar, Roy King, a Senior Product Manager for SharePoint, will provide a basic overview of SharePoint Server’s capabilities and how it can be successfully applied in a mission-driven organization. If you are unfamiliar with SharePoint, but curious to learn more about when and why you may consider adopting it, this introductory webinar is a great place to start. We will help you understand not just the potential benefits, but also what issues to look for before adopting SharePoint Server 2007.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a comprehensive set of tools that – when well supported and deployed – can help nonprofits and libraries improve their collaborative efforts by making it easier to capture and share institutional knowledge both internally and externally. Microsoft donates SharePoint 2007 to eligible organizations through TechSoup, but you may need help determining if this tool is the right fit for your organization.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
