The Empower Training Program is a two week training program designed to bridge the
gap between job seeker and employer by enhancing skills in human relations, Microsoft
for the workplace, and career preparation. This two week training program is intensive
and delivers comprehensive, hands-on experiences, activities, and career exploration
that prepare job seekers for the next step of the job search.
Human Relation Skills
The importance of fine-tuning one’s human relation skills is vital in the career search.
Empower Training is geared to provide job seekers a foundation in the areas of
communication, customer service, judgment, and organization.
Microsoft for the Workplace
The goal for training on Microsoft for the workplace is to ensure job seekers have more
than a basic proficiency using the Internet, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office
Suite applications like Word, Excel, and Outlook as these are prominent skill
requirements of most employers.
Career Preparation
Goodwill Industries of Central Arizona understands that one of the main reasons a job
seeker is taking part in Empower Training is to be better prepared for the job search and
future employment. For this reason, the major highlight of Empower Training is focused
on career preparation and includes courses dedicated to professionalism, business
etiquette, and developing an individualized job search plan.
At the culmination of Empower Training, the job seeker will have a portfolio that includes
a cover letter, general resume, thank you letter, and skills that can be applied both
personally and professionally well beyond training.
