Wireless Sensor Networks?
“A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network
consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using
sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions.”
• WSN makes possible to connect every Thing to Internet.
• A WSN system incorporates a gateway that provides wireless connectivity back to
the wired world and distributed nodes.
• The wireless protocol may based any of available IEEE standards (i.e wifi or 2.4
GH Radios) or may proprietory.
• They can be embeded or integrated into daily use device to make them more
smart.
• They work in star, cluster tree and mesh topology depending on application
requirement.
• They can even used for actuation purpose an even can be programmed
wirelessly.
So, What is the idea in cloud?
• The massive data generated by these internet of things is channeled to
cloud.
• Only cloud makes possible the storage of this huge amount of streaming
from these devices.
• real-time analytics can be applied or the generated data.
• AI and Machine learning services can be utilized from cloud when decision
are needed to be taken based on data collected.

75% at connected avocado farm
He divided his farm into 22 irrigation
blocks and inserted two soil moisture
measurement units into each block. All
soil moisture data is collected from the
avocado trees into a cloud, and when a
tree needs to be watered, the solution
turns the sprinklers on automatically.

A Smoother Ride on the Austrian Autobahn
By connecting thousands of sensors to an extensive network, Austria's
autobahn corporation, ASFINAG, has created a smart highway
designed to clear traffic jams before they happen. Through the
Internet of Everything, ASFINAG gets the data needed to keep roads
safe and drivers happy.
Barcelona’s heavy traffic and its associated high levels of pollution
were the primary factors that motivated some companies and
universities to work on strategies for improving traffic in the city centre.
Bitcarrier is one of the technologies involved in the In4Mo Project,
whose main objective is to develop the applications that form the core
of smart mobility, one of the fundamental pillars of the smart city
concept.

distance. A volleyball that counts serves, sets, and spikes. A soccer

Remote training
• Embracing IoT technology, it’s not necessary for the
trainers to be on the field or soldiers to get trained by
fighting in the real-world battle. Shoot houses having
cameras, motion sensors, and acoustic sensors monitor
the soldiers during training exercises and send the
same data to the coaches who train the soldiers. Also,
the data sent is kept in the form of video and statistics
are represented to the troops to view their
performances.
• In addition to this simulated training with Multiple
Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) is also
possible where soldiers are provided blank cartridges
and lasers are mounted on the weapons. If laser signal
touches the sensors attached on soldier’s clothing and
equipment, then it is registered as a hit and a beeping
noise is heard indicating the soldier has been “killed.”
