Self-healing concrete
• Self-healing concrete is a new type of concrete. It imitates the
automatic healing of body wounds by the secretion of some kind of
material.
How it works?
• Unlike regular concrete, self-healing concrete contains bacteria called
bacillus pasteurii, along with a form of starch that serves as food for
the bacteria. These bacteria stay dormant in the concrete until a crack
forms and air gets
bioplastic
• Bioplastics are a type of plastic that can be made from natural
resources such as vegetable oils.
• Since bioplastics are plant-based products, the consumption of
petroleum for the production of plastic is expected to decrease by
15–20% by 2025.
Homeostatic facades
• The line maze like facade consists of material that flexes and bends as
an artificial muscle fighting solar heat gain by changing shape on its
own.
Artificial spider silk
• They are composed of a unique combination of spider silk protein
and silkworm silk protein.
3d printing construction
• A 3D printer essentially works by extruding molten plastic through a
tiny nozzle that it moves around precisely under computer control.
