2. World Economic Forum report
By 2050 climate change may cause an
additional 14.5 million deaths and $12.5
trillion in economic losses worldwide.
3. Pakistan's greenhouse gas
(GHG) emissions are less
than 1% of the world total,
between 1998 and 2018 Pakistan reported
more than 150 extreme weather events.

7. What is climate
change?
Climate change is a long-term shift in global or
regional climate patterns. It refers to the rise in
global temperatures from the mid-20th century to
present, which is largely caused by human activity,
such as burning fossil fuels like natural gas, oil, and
coal.
8. Why?
This long-term climate change has been
caused by human activity, the IPCC
says, mainly from the widespread use of
fossil fuels - coal, oil and gas - in homes,
factories and transport.
01
9. Heat trapping
When fossil fuels burn, they release greenhouse gases -
mostly carbon dioxide (CO2). This traps extra energy in the
atmosphere near the Earth's surface, causing the planet to
heat up.
10. Results of climate change
B
Ice melting
rapid melting of glaciers
and ice sheets,
contributing to sea-level
rise
A
Extreme events
more frequent and
intense extreme weather,
such as heatwaves and
heavy rainfall
C
Food shortage
Climate change is likely to
contribute substantially to
food insecurity in the
future, by increasing food
prices, and reducing food
production.

12. Poor countie
wil be
affected more
About 3.3 to 3.6 billion people are highly vulnerable to climate
change, according to the IPCC.
People living in poorer countries are expected to suffer most as
they have fewer resources to adapt.
02
13. remedies
To achieve this, "net zero" CO2 emissions should be
reached by 2050. Net zero means reducing greenhouse
gas emissions as much as possible, and removing any
remaining emissions from the atmosphere.
14. COP26:
At COPs, world leaders
gather to work together on
solutions to tackle climate
change.
Cop26 was in Glasgow in 2021, last one
was in year it was in UAE
