• In today’s knowledge driven
society, the information needs
of users are becoming
increasingly complex and,
unfortunately, traditional
library services often fail to
fully meet users’ needs.
• The emerging model of
Embedded Librarianship offers
one approach to tackle the
situation by bringing the
library and librarian to the
user.

EMBEDDED JOURNALIST VS EMBEDDED
LIBRARIAN
• An embedded journalist is
supposed to have better
access to a story.
• An embedded librarian
provides better access for
students to him/herself and to
the library’s resources.

INTERACTION WITH LECTURERS AND
RESEARCHERS
• assist researchers, professors, and
lecturers with personalized
information needed.
• alerting them to the latest books
or articles relevant to their research
topics.

INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS (IN COVID-19

• setting up "virtual office hours" (using the discussion
board)
• posting to a blog or Twitter feed
• helps students access the journal articles, books, or
course reserve materials that they need
• helps students use the online journal databases
• helps with finding appropriate resources online (journal
articles, electronic books, and websites), so that
students don't necessarily have to come to campus

during the semester
• helps with difficult citation formats

• Open educational resources (OER) are
freely accessible, openly licensed text,
media, and other digital assets that are
useful for teaching, learning, and
assessing as well as for research
purposes.

• Retain – the right to make, own, and control copies
of the content (e.g., download, duplicate, store, and
manage)
• Reuse – the right to use the content in a wide range
of ways (e.g., in a class, in a study group, on a
website, in a video)
• Revise – the right to adapt, adjust, modify, or alter
the content itself (e.g., translate the content into
another language)
• Remix – the right to combine the original or revised
content with other material to create something new
(e.g., incorporate the content into a mashup)

baru, dan artikel jurnal baru yang relevan;
• Untuk membantu penelitian dan menyiapkan bahan ajar dan bacaan.

KESIMPULAN
• Perkembangan teknologi baru dan media baru sesungguhnya bisa
membuka peluang baru bagi perpustakaan untuk lebih berkembang dan
berperan dalam membantu pemustaka.
• Perkembangan baru dalam pembelajaran online, pandemi covid yang
memaksa semua serba online, juga semakin menekankan pentingnya
pustakawan untuk melakukan embedded librarianship.
• Tren untuk berbagi sumber daya ilmu pengetahuan dalam bentuk Open
Content dan Open Educational Resources saat ini semakin marak; dan
perpustakaan sangat penting perannya dalam mempromosikan inisiatif ini
kepada civitas academicanya.
• Teknologi AI sudah bukan masa depan lagi, dan sudah terjadi dan
dimanfaatkan saat ini; perpustakaan bisa memanfaatkannya untuk banyak
fungsi, salah satunya personalisasi layanan.

KNOWLEDGE DRIVEN SOCIETY: KEBUTUHAN INFORMASI SEMAKIN KOMPLEKS • In today’s knowledge driven society, the information needs of users are becoming increasingly complex and, unfortunately, traditional library services often fail to fully meet users’ needs. • The emerging model of Embedded Librarianship offers one approach to tackle the situation by bringing the library and librarian to the user. 6
  • 7. EMBEDDED JOURNALIST VS EMBEDDED LIBRARIAN • An embedded journalist is supposed to have better access to a story. • An embedded librarian provides better access for students to him/herself and to the library’s resources. 7
  • 8. INTERACTION WITH LECTURERS AND RESEARCHERS • assist researchers, professors, and lecturers with personalized information needed. • alerting them to the latest books or articles relevant to their research topics. 8

KESIMPULAN • Perkembangan teknologi baru dan media baru sesungguhnya bisa membuka peluang baru bagi perpustakaan untuk lebih berkembang dan berperan dalam membantu pemustaka. • Perkembangan baru dalam pembelajaran online, pandemi covid yang memaksa semua serba online, juga semakin menekankan pentingnya pustakawan untuk melakukan embedded librarianship. • Tren untuk berbagi sumber daya ilmu pengetahuan dalam bentuk Open Content dan Open Educational Resources saat ini semakin marak; dan perpustakaan sangat penting perannya dalam mempromosikan inisiatif ini kepada civitas academicanya. • Teknologi AI sudah bukan masa depan lagi, dan sudah terjadi dan dimanfaatkan saat ini; perpustakaan bisa memanfaatkannya untuk banyak fungsi, salah satunya personalisasi layanan. 28
