Elements Of Design
Meaning :
" Elements Of Design are the components
or part which can be isolated and defined in any
visual design or work of art.
They structure and carry the work ".
WHAT ARE ELEMENTS
OF DESIGN ??
•} The elements of design are the fundamental
aspects of any visual design which
include shape, color, space, form, line,
value, and texture.
•} Graphic designers use the elements of
design to create an image that can
convey a certain mood.
Elements Of Design
1. Line
2. Texture
3. Shape
4. Size
5. Space
6. Form
Line
Line is the basic element that refers to continuous
movement of a point along the surface.
Line show the distance between them.
Every lines shows a Length and thickness and
direction.
Texture
Texture relates to the surface of an object by
looking or by feeling it.
Concrete has a rough texture; Drywall has a
smooth texture.
Texture depends upon the quality or the work
done on that.
Shape
Height + Width = Shape.
We all learned basic shapes in grade school -
triangles, squares, circles and rectangles.
Odd or lesser seen shapes can be used to
attract attention.
There are three basic types of shapes:
geometric, natural and abstracted.
Logos can be recognised by shapes and it's
Colour.
Size
Size is how small or large something is: a
small elephant vs. an extra large elephant,
for example.
Use Size to define importance, create visual
interest in a design (via contrasting sizes),
attract attention and more.
Space
Space is the area around or between elements in
a design.
It can be used to separate or group information.
Use it effectively to: give the eye a rest; define
importance; lead the eye through a design and
more.
Form
Utilising 3D shape to define space within or
around an image.
We can make a 3D effect by using shadow,
colour, and overlaid objects of our design.
