2. *Electronic music is very popular nowadays. Today, we use this
term as a broad umbrella term for everything that is produced
using electronic devices. What only few people are aware of is
that even hundred years ago people were engaged in this form
of music.
*Contrary to what many people speak, the hard electronic
music never was but an acoustic sound. They say it’s over, but
it actually just broke down into several subgenres.
How has electronic music developed?
*Thaddeus Cahill in 1897 developed the tele harmonium that
was seen as the first electronic instrument. This huge machine
weighed seven tons and was as big as a boxcar. The
instrument was designed to listen via telephone receivers. It
was Cahill’s idea to use the phone to broadcast music in
restaurants, hotels and in people’s homes.
3. *After the Second World War, the electronic production went into
overdrive. This was due to the invention of the tape recorder
and primitive synthesizers. A group of composers saw new
possibilities; they could make sounds and compositions that were
not possible with normal instruments.
*Even world famous bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys
were in this age of electronic instruments. The Beach Boys used
such a theremin in the song ‘Good Vibrations’. With your right
hand along an aerial move, you could change the pitch of this
instrument. The first version of this instrument was invented in
1919 by the Russian inventor Leon Theremin.
*In early seventies, Germany experimented with many forms of
electronic music. And the most famous music group from this
time was Kraftwerk. This German group had a major influence on
the development of electronic music. Kraftwerk broke in 1974
worldwide with the album “Autobahn”. This album used the
minimoog that was an extremely sophisticated synthesizer at
that time. The 22-minute title track of this album was in the
charts worldwide.
5. *While watching the music video, you are able to tell that the
video is telling a story and how the camera is able to focus on
particular characters presented throughout the video.
*Through certain aspects of the video we are able to see that
the camera does many extreme close ups with a selective
focus.
*The mise en scene for the video is also very important because
of the way that the camera does extreme close up to certain
things such as a hand where a ring is visible or a lamp which
gives off the slightly moody atmosphere.
*A lot of the shots alternate from a slightly depressing
atmosphere where people are all alone to a more energetic
atmosphere where people are with a group of friends where
they are able to have fun and relax as they are socialising

7. *This music Video to do with electronic music is rather different to
latch because of the way that latch creates a scene that is reality
whereas ‘One more time’ creates and imaginary scene which
many humans haven’t been able to experience because it is set
out of space. So we are able to tell that it is an animation rather
than a story.
*The transitions are quite fast however it is interesting to see how
the two videos are able to overlap because each scene from the
video includes a scene where people or cartoons are socializing
with each other.
*The audience for the two videos are rather different as ‘One
more time’ is more likely to attract a wider ranger whereas
‘latch’ is more likely to attract a younger because of the people
that are cast in this one.
9. *This music video is more similar to Latch because of the way that
it is able to tell a story
*The mise en scene is also very important for the music video
because of the location that everything is set in because of the
way that it is set in a normal location such as a café which is
rather similar to Latch where the scene was set in an elevator.
*Many of the scenes change quite quickly to a completely
different shot such as the shot of everyone drinking which also
relates to Latch. It then will do a quick transition in order to see
the nature surrounding the shot.
*The type of audience that is attracted to this music is mostly
younger people as it is very modern rather like Latch.
*It is interesting to see how different artist are able to be put in
the same category of music even though their music is rather
different.
