As the new technical communications manager for International Gadg.docxbob8allen25075
As the new technical communications manager for International Gadgets (IG), you have developed a good idea of the various internal and external audiences for communications across the enterprise.
You have learned that IG is organized into five main areas consisting of Research & Development (R&D), Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Technical Support, and Finance/Accounting. Each area has its own structure:
· R&D – New Product Development and Product Enhancement teams
· Manufacturing – Detroit, Shanghai, and Purchasing teams
· Sales & Marketing – U.S. Sales, U.S. Marketing, European Sales, European Marketing, Partner Management, and Online Sales teams
· Technical Support – the exception, as there is only a single team handling this function
· Finance/Accounting – Corporate Finance and Corporate Accounting teams
· Human Resources – Corporate HR team with ties to HR representatives at each work site
In addition to the internal departments, IG staff interface with a wide range of external entities and individuals including customers (large accounts, individuals via web sales), distribution partners, component suppliers, subcontractors (design and occasional manufacturing). IG also contracts with Amazon to handle all its product logistics—warehousing, packaging and shipping, and returns.
However, you have noticed that different audiences do not always have the same needs from similar announcements. For example, a communication announcing the launching of a new product means different things to different departments.
In a memo to your communications team, instruct them on ways to discover the needs of the stakeholders in different areas of the company so that a new product announcement will be relevant to them.
Case Study Overview
What Is a Case Study?
Are you more interested in abstract concepts that have little application to your own life
or real-life scenarios that could happen to you or to someone you know? The answer is
almost surely the latter, and that is why this course is built around case studies. Case
studies are relevant situations that might never happen to you but that you could easily
imagine happening to you. You work through a case study of some kind every day in
your work or family life, even if you don’t realize it. A case study is a group of related
factors that come together to form a problem or a circumstance that you are called on to
resolve. Often there are several choices to be considered and different possible
outcomes based on each of the choices.
You might have a case study situation at your job based on the fact that you have two
major projects due at the same time—both of equal importance to your company—and
there is simply not enough time for you to handle both of the projects with the high
degree of attention they need. You could work on both projects and hope for the best.
You could ask your boss to reassign one of the projects to another team member. You
could ask a colleague to help.

Career Guidance refers to services intended to assist people, of any age and at any point throughout their lives, to make educational, training, and occupational choices and to manage their careers. Career guidance helps people to reflect on their ambitions, interests, qualifications, and abilities.
Quite often in life, there comes a time when we have to take a decision that would, in the long run, determine our future. Choosing a career is one of such times. It is common among youths to say, “I want to become an Engineer, I want to become a Medical Doctor, I want to become a Lawyer”. These statements are made with little or no knowledge of what it takes to pursue such professions. In most cases, many go into such career with ignorance. Therefore, to avoid “Had I known” in the end, there is need for you to be well informed before choosing a career. This article will expose you to choosing a right career, how to choose a right career, reasons for choosing a right career and a career table that summarizes the interest, personality, hobbies and career interest as well as possible courses that would match them.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2017-2018 “8th Grade Application”
(adapted from www.rhsroughriders.org)
Hello parents and students! The time has come. We at P.S./I.S. 226 love these thought-provoking questions,
which will lead you into one of our units of study. These prompts are open to creative interpretation, allowing
room for personal expression. To better understand each question, some follow-up questions are offered. Use
them, and good luck!
Keep in mind, students will be required to answer ALL the writing prompts in 250 words or more. Responses
are to be typed in “Times New Roman” 12 size font. The due date for this assignment is September 7, 2017.
Remember you can’t redo a first impression and this will be your first ELA 8th grade! Be prepared to share!
PROMPT #1: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful, they
believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your
story.
Ask yourself: What, in your years on this earth, has helped shape the person you are today? It can be something
as small as seeing an episode of a television show, or as large as the struggle of moving to a foreign country.
That said, your point of view should be dynamic, specific to you and who you are. Did a Wednesday night
family bowling tradition help shape the way you think about family, teamwork and the power of rituals? Does
your crazy dyed-blue hair define you? What do you love and why do you love it? How would you define
yourself and what influences in your life led you down your current path? What funny story do you tell friends
and family over and over again and why do you think it always comes up? How are these stories and qualities
representative of who you are at your core?
PROMPT #2: The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recall an incident or
time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
How do you deal with hardship? Are you the kind of person who can rebound, who turns every experience,
good or bad, into one from which you can learn something? Applicants should be careful not to choose failures
that may seem basic (failure to get an A on an exam and/or secure tickets to a concert). Try to keep these stories
as positive as possible. Remember, your answer is not really about losing the election, missing the big game or
failing to meet your own academic expectations; they are about overcoming obstacles, and refusing to quit life’s
greatest challenges.
2. PROMPT #3: Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would
you make the same decision again?
When has your opinion been unpopular with others? Maybe you have a belief that someone once did not agree
with. How did you react? Why are you the kind of person who is willing to stand up for what you believe in?
What is most important to you on a level of morals and values? These are some of the questions to which this
prompt seeks answers and insight.
PROMPT #4: Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual
challenge, a research question, or an ethical dilemma–anything that is of personal importance, no matter
the scale. Explain its importance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
What kind of change would you like to make in the world? How do you think you can positively contribute to a
cause that is important to you? If you had the power to make a lasting impact in any area at all, what would it
be? It is important that the problem you choose is linked to your life and world in a meaningful way.
PROMPT #5: Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal that marked your transition from
childhood to adolescence within your culture, community, or family.
Students should keep in mind that the words “accomplishment” and “event,” leave themselves open to
interpretation. A formal event or accomplishment might encompass anything from obvious landmarks like
birthdays and weddings, to achievements like earning an award. More informal examples might include
something as simple as meeting a special person in your life, taking a car ride, or eating a particularly
meaningful meal. What were the moments in life that truly changed you as a person? When did you learn
something that made you feel more mature, more capable, more grown up? The most important thought to keep
in mind is to ask, “How much did this change me?” The event or accomplishment you discuss should be
something that helped you understand the world around you through a different, more mature lens.
