El Cid Compeador is an epic poem about Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar, a Castilian soldier known as "El Cid", which means "The Lord Champion". Due to intrigues created by his enemy Count Garcia Ordonez, El Cid lost his fame, family, and wealth and was exiled by King Alfonso. The poem follows El Cid as he regains his honor and defeats his enemies, including marrying his two daughters to the Infantes of Carreon.
