1. E&I Technician Roles and Responsibilities, C&SU Suncor
 Report to the CSU (Commissioning and Start-Up) Supervisor.
 Attend morning safety meeting.
 Responsible for inputting daily e-log and man hours.
 Ensure continuity and support with cross shift is maintained.
 Attend Suncor safety meetings.
 Provide information on required materials, vendor support, and shared services when
required to C&SU supervisor.
 Attend meetings RHA (Risk Hazard Assessment) and model reviews as required by
supervisors.
 Maintain Suncor safety and plant training standards.
TYPICAL DUTIES
 Provide punch list on electrical and instrumentation package when system have been
walked down with QC and engineering group.
 Prepare walk down packages for system completions.
 Commission and calibrate various instruments and device: pressure transmitter, flow
transmitter, temperature transmitter, Fisher DVC 6000 and 5000 serial control valve.
 Commission and program PLC controlled systems.
 Commissioned and set up various VFD. (Variable Frequency drives)
 Commission and trouble shoot various communication systems: Fieldbus, Device net,
Modbus, Q-network Etc.
 Red line drawing and generate commission document on completion of system
commissioning.
 Perform cause and effect testing with the automation group.
 Commissioning and setup of all instrumentation with automation. (Loop Checks)
 Commissioning and startup Schlumberger VFDs and down pumps.
 Commission and start-up Schlumberger multi-phase VX meter and perform zero
trimming.
 Provide technical support for trouble shooting and system improvement.
 Provide support for Project engineering review and generate RFI’s (Request for
Information)
 Commissioning and troubleshooting of Roc 800 and SCADA link SMX900 systems.
 Commissioning and testing H2S, LEL, oxygen gas detector, Fire alarm system beacons
and horns prior to plant operations.
 Suggested changes and improvement to engineering group for better system
performance and safety according to company standard
 HMI device setup and commissioning
 Perform heat trace controller programming, troubleshooting and commissioning of heat
trace system.
 Work with process engineers and operator to perform trouble-shooting and enhance
system performance.
 Commission and start-up MOVs (motor operated valves).
