NHS in crisis: Scotland's medical meltdown laid bare as GP
surgery struggles to treat 10,000 patients with only two docs………..
• Third of Scottish GPs want to retire, says survey
• ALMOST a third of GPs are planning to retire in the next five
years, according to a survey which has heightened fears of a
ballooning recruitment crisis.
• A poll of more than 1800 family doctors in Scotland found 32 per
cent want to step down by 2020, and a further 14per cent would like
to move to part-time working.
• Scottish politicians must make general practice a top priority, RCGP
Scotland has warned, as estimates suggest the country could face
shortages of over 900 GPs in just five years' time.

20. OUR VISION IS THAT BY 2020:
Everyone is able to live longer healthier lives at home, or in
a homely setting. We will have a healthcare system where
we have integrated health and social care, a focus on
prevention, anticipation and supported self management.
When hospital treatment is required, and cannot be provided
in a community setting, day case treatment will be the norm.
Whatever the setting, care will be provided to the highest
standards of quality and safety, with the person at the centre
of all decisions. There will be a focus on ensuring that people
get back into their home or community environment as soon
as appropriate, with minimal risk of re-admission
