"I've never seen the weight come off like this. I really LOVE this 'diet'! It's more like a life overhaul! I have more energy than I've had in years and my skin is actually glowing! This is the perfect "Mommy Makeover" I was looking for. In the last few weeks I wasn't hungry at all, and it is the perfect complement to my busy lifestyle. I know that I am losing weight in a healthy way! My husband has started asking me more frequently if I would make him a smoothie, which is wonderful! "Relapse Prevention" was presented by Robin Edison, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, CAAC; Dawn Farm Downtown Program coordinator. This program discusses the dynamics of relapse, the warning signs that lead the chemically dependent person into a relapse, and strategies to prevent relapse and help handle high-risk situations. This program is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series, a FREE, annual workshop series developed to provide accurate, helpful, hopeful, practical, current information about chemical dependency, recovery, family and related issues. The Education Series is organized by Dawn Farm, a non-profit community of programs providing a continuum of chemical dependency services. Q5 breakfast improving mental health at workMelissa Dunn
Q5 were delighted to host an ‘Improving Mental Health in the Workplace’ breakfast yesterday morning. Guest speaker Lord Dennis Stevenson - co-author of the ‘Thriving at Work’ report - shared his personal experiences and insights into the positive, tangible changes that organisations can make to think differently and encourage mental wellness. We were joined by senior leaders from a range of industries for a very open and thought provoking discussion in the room - expertly chaired by Mark Rice-Oxley.
We have shared a summary of the contributions in the attached PDF.
An illuminating presentation originally promoted to Dr Miriam Stoppard at a Midwifery Study Day as to how emotional and physical preparation through pregnancy can help prevent PND.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a process that can be physically and emotionally stressful for couples struggling with infertility. IVF is a fertility treatment that involves the fertilization of an egg and sperm outside of the body and then the transfer of the resulting embryo to the uterus. The procedure can be time-consuming, costly, and emotionally draining.

Your heart produces more energy than any other organ in your body. Place your hand on your heart and you'll feel the blood pumping through your system.
Your heat is also very sensitive to emotions, both good and bad! I'm sure you've experienced some sort of heartache or heartbreak. I know how it hurts and your heart wants to protect you. So it builds a protective barrier we call a "Heart-Wall."

What
happens
when
your
dream
birth
does
not
go
according
to
plan?
For
many
women,
birth
can
be
a
joyous
and
empowering
experience,
for
others,
it
can
be
one
of
the
worst
events
of
their
life.
I
became
inspired
to
start
The
Healing
Birth
Trauma
workshops;
after
my
own
plan
to
have
a
natural
birth
ended
with
an
unwanted
emergency
caesarean.
I
was
devastated,
being
a
natural
health
professional;
I
felt
I
had
failed
in
my
work
and
as
a
new
mother.
Did
your
birth
experience
leave
you
feeling
traumatised?
For
me
-‐
It
was
a
day
I
wanted
to
wipe
from
my
memory,
yet
it
was
also
the
day
my
beautiful
son
arrived.
This
left
me
feeling
confused
and
guilty.
Was
I
being
ungrateful?
-‐
After
all
he
was
healthy.
Did
it
really
matter
how
he
was
born?
The
fact
is,
it
does
matter
-‐
and
it
matters
to
many
women
who
like
me,
did
not
get
to
experience
those
first
precious
moments
of
bonding
with
their
baby.
The
impact
of
an
unexpected
caesarean
or
intervention
can
have
an
enormous
impact
on
our
health
and
relationships.
If
not
treated,
many
women
develop
PPTSD
-‐
Postpartum
Traumatic
Stress
Disorder.
Every
woman
deserves
to
have
a
fulfilling
childbearing
experience,
even
if
it
may
be
different
from
the
one
she
imagined.
Women
are
profoundly
affected
and
if
the
trauma
is
left
unresolved,
it
can
affect
a
woman's
decision
to
have
another
child.
3.
What
is
birth
trauma?
Birth
trauma
is
a
reaction
in
response
to
a
real
or
perceived
traumatic
event
during
childbirth.
It
is
about
an
individual’s
experiences
and
there
are
no
specific
events
that
must
happen
during
childbirth
to
feel
traumatised.
A
birth
trauma
does
not
necessarily
mean
medical
intervention
either,
although
the
statistics
are
alarmingly
high.
It
is
about
healthy
women
with
realistic
expectations;
who
have
been
treated
disrespectfully
or
without
compassion
at
their
most
vulnerable
time.
Some
studies
suggest
that
over
30%
of
women
have
experienced
multiple
symptoms
of
trauma.
Research
also
shows
that
women
who
have
a
“normal”
vaginal
delivery
can
also
experience
PPTSD
or
traumatic
symptoms.
What
can
cause
PPTSD
or
birth
trauma?
Birth
Trauma
can
often
be
confused
with
with
postpartum
depression,
but
in
general,
women
do
not
suffer
from
the
symptoms
below:
Panic
attacks,
anxiety,
depression,
nightmares,
feeling
detached
from
loved
ones,
and
a
sense
of
impending
doom
are
common,
not
to
mention,
insomnia,
grief,
anger,
guilt,
shame,
fear
of
dying
and
sadly,
fear
of
your
baby
dying.
The
workshops
help
all
women
who
have
experienced
some
form
of
trauma,
regardless
if
they
had
a
natural
or
medicated
birth,
or
whether
their
symptoms
fit
into
the
PPTSD
criteria.
Why
is
it
important
to
heal
birth
trauma?
Birth
is
a
powerful
experience,
when
it
is
traumatic,
its
impact
can
be
enormous.
Without
help
or
healing,
the
trauma
remains
locked
within
the
body,
causing
on-‐going
mental,
emotional
and
physical
problems,
as
well
as
affecting
any
future
plans
of
having
more
children.
4.
How
can
EFT
help
with
my
trauma?
EFT
is
by
far,
one
of
the
most
powerful
techniques
to
heal
trauma
and
PTSD.
It
was
originally
created
to
help
war
veterans
with
intrusive
flashbacks.
You
can
expect
many
positive
changes.
EFT
works
by
clearing
and
resolving
blocked
energy,
unconscious
memories
and
traumas,
which
often
show
up
as
physical
pain
if
repressed.
EFT
helps
you
to
reframe
your
experience,
and
see
things
from
a
completely
new
perspective.
Which
is
extremely
powerful
for
your
healing
journey.
EFT
gently
reduces
and
eliminates
each
and
every
negative
emotion
you
have
around
your
trauma,
allowing
you
to
painlessly
remember
the
event
without
reliving
it
or
feeling
overwhelmed.
Anger,
guilt,
shame,
grief
and
resentment
when
unresolved
become
stored
in
specific
parts
of
the
body,
you
will
notice
as
you
start
to
release
specific
aspects
to
the
trauma,
physical
pains
and
conditions
reduce
and
disappear.
You
may
also
notice
any
previous
traumas
no
longer
affect
you
the
same
way.
EFT
enables
you
to
stand
back
from
the
event
and
see
things
from
a
different
perspective.
It
is
extremely
empowering
and
will
give
you
a
sense
of
freedom.
You
will
also
feel
more
energised
as
you
will
no
longer
be
suppressing
blocked
energy.
You
can
expect
many
positive
changes;
such
as
• Healthier
relationship/deeper
connection
to
your
baby
• Clear
previous
past
traumas
• Release
negative/unwanted
beliefs
• Feel
empowered/more
energy
• Improved
relationships/friendships
• Improved
sleep/resolve
insomnia
issues
• Pain
free
-‐
physical
issues
(neck/back/headaches
will
often
disappear
• Freedom
to
make
the
choice
of
having
more
children
The
list
is
endless,
as
everyone
is
unique,
you
can
expect
so
much
more
than
just
resolving
your
birth
trauma.
5.
What
is
Emotional
Freedom
Technique
(EFT)?
EFT
is
a
relatively
new
discovery
that
has
provided
thousands
with
relief
from
pain,
disease
and
emotional
issues.
Simply
stated,
it
is
a
unique
version
of
acupuncture
Instead
of
needles,
you
stimulate
well-‐established
energy
meridian
points
on
your
body
by
tapping
on
them
with
your
fingertips.
It
looks
funny
at
first,
but
the
results
are
astounding.
Instead
of
months
or
years
using
conventional
"talk
therapy",
EFT
can
resolve
issues
within
just
a
few
hours.
In
fact
used
properly,
these
techniques
can
get
to
core
issues
and
facilitate
relief,
change
and
growth
painlessly
and
very
quickly.
Once
you
start
to
observe
how
well
EFT
clears
out
emotional
debris,
you
will
then
notice
the
effect
this
has
on
physical
ailments.
Headaches,
back
pains,
and
other
discomforts
tend
to
improve
or
vanish.
The
only
real
way
to
understand
it,
is
to
experience
it
Why
Workshops?
Although
your
healing
journey
is
very
personal,
sharing
your
story
(whilst
tapping)
with
other
women
who
have
gone
through
the
same
experience,
allows
healing
to
take
place
at
many
levels.
It
is
the
perfect
setting
for
demonstrating
the
power
of
EFT.
Healing
together
builds
trust
and
helps
create
a
safe
environment,
which
every
woman
needs,
so
they
can
openly
share
their
experience
without
fear
or
judgment.
What
can
I
expect
from
the
workshops?
You
can
expect
to
feel
many
emotions,
not
always
relating
to
the
trauma.
When
you
experience
EFT,
you
may
remember
repressed
memories
and
other
painful
events.
This
is
your
body
and
mind
releasing
stuck
energy
and
is
part
of
the
process.
You
can
expect
to
have
emotional
releases,
such
as
tears,
laughter,
insight,
hunger
pangs,
and
yawning.
You
can
also
expect
to
have
any
physical
pains
lessen
or
completely
disappear.
You
will
have
a
new
understanding
of
the
mind-‐body
connection
and
how
you
can
release
negative
emotions
in
the
future.

I wanted to push and give life to my son, bring him to my chest and not let anyone take him away
to poke and prod at. I wanted to nurse him and lie with him for as long as I wanted with the
umbilical cord still attached. I didn't get any of that; I was so angry and upset. I really blamed
myself, this workshop really opened my eyes, we were all in the same situation, I felt better just
knowing it was not my fault. Every story was heart breaking, yet, the pain just dissolved. It was
full of tears and insight, I had severe bowel pain since the birth and I have not had any pain! You
guided everyone. You are a gentle and knowledgeable teacher. I was so nervous and then became
the chatterbox of the group!!!

8. Dear Kim, here are my thoughts. I think EFT should play a part within the health profession and be
offered to women suffering from birth trauma as part of the NHS.
I have been so taken with it, I am taking the EFT training course.
Kim - thank you for the work you do. I was, as you know very low. Not feeling like a good mother,
my scar was still sore, bowel problems and just feeling so useless. I loved how you took every woman
and changed their responses. All of my symptoms are gone, my sore back and shoulders. I have started
rubbing oil on my "baby line" not scar. I couldn't touch it before. I thought every woman in the group
were amazing sharing their stories. It was emotional and yet comforting, as we all knew how each
other felt and we also knew our emotions would change. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my
shoulders. It is so hard to explain it all. I suppose you just have to experience it.
Thank you for what you do, an energetic, quick and very intuitive teacher you are Kim.

Hello Kim,
I have to say, I was very skeptical. I had been diagnosed with depression and it had been over a year
since my "birth". I think all of us mums believed it was our fault on some level. When you started off
with that and got us all to tap along, there was so much relief and insight to realise we were not to
blame, for me, that was the moment I started to let go of a horrible birth. I feel I have my life back. I
was getting CBT sessions for 5 months; which did not make much difference to how I felt. I have
noticed a vast improvement with my little girl Charlotte, I just feel so connected to her and haven't
once thought back to that day. I don't feel a victim and I don't feel cheated, how could I, look what I
have.
I highly recommend Kim, try EFT, you will be hooked.

or
anything.
She
was
dumped
in
to
a
cot
and
I
was
told
to
get
some
sleep.
It
was
far
from
magical;
I
was
mistreated
by
staff
and
just
left
in
a
ward,
I
left
traumatised.
For
8
months
I
suffered.
I
am
so
grateful
for
this
workshop,
because
I
had
started
to
lose
my
mind,
wondering
why
I
was
so
depressed
and
avoiding
everyone.
I
thoroughly
enjoyed
learning
EFT.
It
was
absolutely
amazing,
feeling
all
of
my
emotions
changing.
I
actually
feel
inner
peace,
and
have
started
to
get
and
out
about
again,
again.
Showing
off
my
daughter,
like
I
should
have
done
at
the
beginning
To
any
new
mums,
suffering,
please
don't.
I
am
proof
that
EFT
works
so
well.
Forever
grateful
