Tourism is a type of recreation in which people travel to relive and enjoy
their happy moments. Moreover people tend to travel for business purposes
as well. Tourism industry plays a vital role in generating the revenue. Some of
the countries like Mexico, UAE, USA, India, EU was badly affected by covid-
19 which led to the shut down of tourism.

3. How Pandemic
Have Affected
The Tourism
Sector?
As I have mentioned above that pandemic
(COVID-19) has affected the tourism sector
which is a main income source to many countries
such as Mexico whose 15% income is generated
from tourism sector. Now the pandemic has
boosted the concern of health issues worldwide
by the end of March 2020. But now when this
pandemic has hit the countries so hard, the
tourism sector of the country's economy has been
ruined. Because of the pandemic, many people all
over the world have lost their jobs and many
people have been homeless during this
pandemic.

4. Problems Occurred In The Tourism Sector
The tourism sector is really
distinctive because it helps the
countries to boost their economy
but since this pandemic has attacked
this world, the tourism sector has
been completely ruined.
Since this pandemic has arrived most
of the traveling services were closed
some of the examples are trains,
buses, and flights.
Due to this pandemic, the accommodations
for the tourists were also closed, and at the
end of March 2020, the outbreak of Covid-19
was really worse so because of that ,some of
the tourists were stuck in different places and
they couldn’t go back to their respective
homes.

Arrival Of Tourists
This graph represents the monthly statistics
of tourism in India. This graph represents the
amount of decay the tourism sector has
faced. In 2018 from 9.2% to 6.8% in 2019
and the GDP increased but due to the
pandemic in 2020 the GDP expected to
69,400 went through decay.
The graph clearly explains the time when
COVID-19 affected the country, the COVID-
19 break out at the end of march was the
time where the tourism sector was most
affected.

6. Change in Tourist
Arrival 2019-20
The map illustrate the tourist decrease in the
year 2020 form the month of Jan to Oct and the
amount decay in the tourism sector faced by all
these regions in this year. Whereas in the year
2019 the stats were increasing by 1% in Americas
and 4% increase in Europe and CCA whereas in the
year 2020 the stats were decreased by huge
amount like 68% of tourism have decrease in the
Americas and 82% of tourism have decrease in
Asia and Pacific. The mean for transportation was
shutted down like Flights, trains, and Buses and
the government took the decision to not to allow
any mobilization to take place within the county or
out of the country. 6
7. Steps taken by
government
regarding
TOURISM
SECTOR IN 2020
◼Traveling is the easiest way to explore the world. As a
result of traveling it has benefited the tourism sector a lot
and even the tourism industry has become one of the most
income-providing sectors to many countries until these
countries meet the pandemic (COVID-19) in 2020. When
the concern of this pandemic was increased, the government
of every nation declared lockdown through which the
mobilization stopped and the tourism sector got affected and
the countries whose economy was dependent on tourism has
been affected very badly.

8. Trend Analysis On Effect Of
Pandemic On Tourism Revenue
The tourism sector contributes to the country’s
GDP, it is now declined due to the pandemic.
The tourism industry and hospitality industry
have faced huge losses in India. This graph is
explaining about the tourism revenue before the
pandemic and also the losses faced throughout
the pandemic. In 2019, the GDP increased
around 6.8% through only the tourism sector. In
2020, around 785 million USD of loss was
faced because was of the pandemic (COVID-
19).

9. Surveys
Analysis
As I carried out a survey in various locations that
were most affected in the tourism sector
through this pandemic (Covid - 19), such as
restaurants, hotels, and travel agent offices.
And by conducting surveys, I discovered that
when the threat of a pandemic was raised, all
travel agencies and hospitality services were
shut down, and this time these sectors have
suffered massive losses, such as these were
Closed for 3 - 4 months, these facilities were
tightened, and when lockdown in countries
reopened, there was no profit because they
would not have been able to raise 50% of their
spending on the welfare of people living there,
and India's GDP have decreased by 11.3 lakh.

10. Strategies to
Recover the
loss of tourism
sector
►We can improve the precautions that must be taken
in this time of pandemic such as sanitising, social
distance, limited seats in flights but slightly more
expensive than regular ones because of increasing the
security of a person as he flies by applying this method
will bring some profit because at the time of pandemic
people will also think about their health and they will
pay extra for their security and their precaution. And
government should take a better decision to rebuild
the tourism sector like they can improve precautions
for tourists and domestic flight or trains should be
running for incoming of income from the tourism
sector shouldn’t be stopped.
