Comte was followed by Herbert Spencer (English
philosopher) writer of a book PRINCIPLES OF
SOCIOLOGY who believe that individual like a
CELL and society like an organism.
The word “sociology” is derived from the LATIN
word Socius (companion) and the Greek word
Logos (study of companionship).

society in which it functions.
