Universal design is an educational framework that considers diverse student characteristics to create a flexible learning environment accommodating individual differences. It has three principles: providing multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement. In the classroom, universal design must be equitable, flexible, intuitive, provide perceptible information, tolerate emotion, require low physical effort, and consider size and space. Universal design can be applied to any environment like curriculum, multimedia, computer labs, and more.
