This document compares and summarizes the features of two educational networking tools: Edmodo and Remind101. Edmodo allows teachers to connect with students digitally by having students turn in homework, receive reminders and grades, access documents, take quizzes, participate in book clubs, and access course resources online. Remind101 is a free text messaging tool that allows teachers to communicate safely with students and parents without sharing personal phone numbers, and can be used to remind students of assignments, inform parents of classroom and school events, and notify students and parents of teacher absences. The document examines how these tools could be utilized to positively impact the presenter's classroom and school district.

What is it?
 Edmodo is taking the
classroom and connecting it

applications.
 This is a way for the students
to turn in homework be
reminded of what is coming
up, share projects, see
grades.
 They are able to access
documents I would have
uploaded onto the site.
How I can use it…..
 I can create quizzes for them
to take.
 I can have book clubs where
the students can discuss the
book.
 Store documents for them to
access and keep resources for
them to use.
 I can post assignments for
those that missed the work or
for those that might need more
directions.

4. WHAT IS IT?
 Remind101 provides a safe way for
teachers to text message students
and stay in touch with parents for
free.
 Teachers use
remind101.com, from their own
phone app to send texts to
students and parents phones
without ever having to share their
own phone number.
 Students and parents also never
have to share their phone number
with teachers. Ever.

HOW I CAN USE IT…
 I can remind students of upcoming
assignments as tests.
 I can let parents know what is
happening in their childs
classroom.
 I can let parents know of upcoming
events at the school or things that
may have happened to cause
cancellations at the school.
 I can let students know if I am
going to be out and what I expect
of them at school that day.
