The document describes the audio editing process for a film timeline. 1. Editing Two
Before adding titles, we
had to make two copies of our
timeline cuts and add sound.
The sound we wanted to keep,
we placed in A1 (audio 1).
Next, we had to delete the
tracks of audio we didn’t want
to keep. For example, one of
the clips of Clare reacting the
door opening had the director
saying “door”, so we had to
remove this.
Some clips had no
sound which were ones
where we filmed hand-
held shots where we had
to remove the
microphone to have
easier access with the
movement. With these,
we added white noise on
top so that this wasn’t
was so obvious.
Next we had to add sound to the fight scene so to do this, we
went to files Matt had saved previously and we chose sounds of
grunts of a fight, movement of bodies in a fight and then
someone falling on the ground. We cut them together to fit the
action on the timeline. We were thinking about adding footsteps,
however, this would be pretty impossible to add up exactly to the
footsteps of our actors so we left this out.

2. To come up with names, we
looked up ‘names’ online and
put them together to create
first and last names. Although,
I had to make sure they
weren’t a real person by
looking the name we created
online first.
Next, to make the titles, look more clear, we clicked on the clip
on the timeline and then turned up the percentage of opacity and
changed the shadow to black. As well as this, we enlarged the
‘Beneath the Surface’ to make it stand out as this is the name of
our opening sequence.
Our next task was to
start adding titles to the
opening of our sequence. To
do this, Matt added a template
to our timeline. Then to
change the words, we had to
click the centre of the ’name
here’ and start typing. Then
click the left and right button to
delete what was on either side
of the new name we had just
written.
