1) The author shortened and rearranged shots in the second draft of their opening sequence to fit the time frame and create intrigue by not always showing characters' faces. 2) They only used fade in and fade out transitions as these are traditionally used in films and helped show the passage of time between two characters. 3) Slow motion was used on a shot of an earphone popping out and on a shot of the female character to make the motion comprehensible and give a reverie-like feel.

2. The prime correction that I made in the second draft of editing of my
opening sequence was to shorten and rearrange the shots. This was not
only done so I could fit my idea into the given time frame indicated for an
opening sequence but also to achieve a more intriguing appearance of the
insert to the audience. By including shots that did not show the characters
faces, I enforced a notion of enigma which I wanted to accomplish so that
the audience is suspicious of what is going to happen next and are thus
captured into the storyline.

3. The second step in this draft of my editing process, I wanted to work on
perfecting the timing and position I placed the transitions. I solely used the
fade in and fade out transitions since they are the only transitions that
traditionally belong to the editing schemes of a film, from the selection I
had. I utilized the transitions as a formulation of time passing and to act as
a barrier for the scenes between the two characters, since my editing
process was majorly oriented on parallel editing.

4. In terms of special effects, I utilized the slow motion technique for the shot
consisting of the girl’s earphone popping out of her ear. This motion was
very abrupt and sudden when I filmed it. Due to this it acted as an
incoherent link that made the whole sequence appear incomprehensible
especially for those who were not aware of the whole storyline. I
experimented with the speed that I wanted to use and decided that 50/100
was perfect so that the motion looked realistic and comprehensible to the
audience. In addition, I utilized the slow motion technique for the female
character once more setting it at 90/100, but this time to make the shot
seem more reverie-like and thus seem as some sort of flashback.

5. This shot consists of the male character having an exchange of
thoughts with himself as he analyzes the upcoming situation mentally.
Due this intimate setting I wanted to zoom in onto the characters face in
my post-production procedure not only to capture his face expressions
and emotions more clearer but also to initiate a closer bond of the
audience with the character, which despite his communication
inhibitions, still portrays a relatable character.

6. As a form of non-diegetic sound, I utilize a voice-over presented by my male
character in which is states the word “speechless” at the end to express his
emotions. Therefore, I wanted to combine the sharp diegetic sound of the door
and the verbal and visual representation of the word speechless. The concept
of the word speechless is represented in literal terms since both having a
communication inhibition and the male’s concept of “speechless” to be
intertwined and thus give prominence to the title and over message of the
sequence. Moreover, regarding the visual aesthetic the title appears crooked
due to the adjustment of it the title to the door frame.
