NEC, a global IT company, implemented a smart city project in the MENA region that required processing large amounts of live data in real time. As the database was critical to the project, NEC partnered with Profelis, an EDB Postgres expert, to help with the challenging database architecture. Profelis used tools like streaming replication, logical replication, EDB Failover Manager, pgBarman, and EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager to achieve high availability, disaster recovery, minimal downtime, and zero data loss across data centers for the critical project database.

Our aim is all time to focus on our main project. But in other hand database is
much more important point in our projects. Therefore we cannot reckon without from
big picture.
The project required live big data to be processed in real time and the data is
critical. The Critical and huge database architecture need to have professional
services. As the requirements are that hard and challenging, NEC decided to work with
professionals about PGSQL expert support. Therefore our path crossed with Profelis.

8. General Information About the Project
General transportation project has mid or huge level data transaction. As an
average 15 million transactions per day. More than 3000 online busses and 1500
top-up points operating at the same time.
As critical projects need to have disaster recovery IT infrastructure for keep secure
database and to continue operation in city. With high availability architecture and
enterprise manager tools used by Profelis we achieved this target.
In order to achieve High Availability and disaster recovery on both projects we used
cross Data-Center setup. In case one Data-Center is down we can operate on the other
Data-Center with replica of corresponding project without data loss or project
downtime.
