For this assignment, you need to assume the role of a classroom educ.docxevonnehoggarth79783
For this assignment, you need to assume the role of a classroom educator. This can be based on a class that you are currently teaching, one that you have previously taught, or one that you hope to teach in the future. Suppose you are participating in a department team meeting with the other teachers in your grade level discussing an upcoming unit.. One of the teachers indicates that she plans to distribute the same packets she used last year and schedule five days of independent seat work for her students to complete the packets by locating answers in the course textbook. This would be followed by a written exam covering the material in the packets.
You have been aware for some time that the students in this teacher’s class are frustrated, bored, and worst of all, not really learning anything important about the content as shown through the student data. This could be your opportunity to get her to try something new and more valuable to students. You explain to this teacher that you plan to implement a week-long problem-based learning experience for your students, involving group projects, computer time, and class presentations; you would like to share this plan with her and to partner together on the project.
In this assignment, you will apply principles of project and problem based learning (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcGOe_JsXUY) to the design of a specific learning experience within a culturally relevant and collaborative learning experience that facilitates the 21st century skills of creativity and innovation. Review the Week Five Instructor Guidance for detailed assistance on preparing for and completing this assignment, including access to resources that will help you identify the characteristics of problem-based learning environments. Next, create your assignment to meet the content and written communication expectations below.

Assignment 2: Fink Step 3
Due Week 7 and worth 200 points
For this assignment, you will look at the technology you have integrated into your unit/training and develop ways to assess student performance when they use those technologies.
Often, educators find a great new technology or app to use with their students but then have no idea how to evaluate if it is actually helping students learn. Or, educators find that grading student performance using the new technology is cumbersome and doesn’t actually save any time or provide any value.
For example, if students have an assignment to create a PowerPoint presentation, how will they submit it to you? How will you check to make sure they didn’t just copy it from someplace on the Internet? If students are working on a group project, how can you assess student contributions? These are some issues you will need to think about when you apply technology to your lessons.
First, provide a brief (1-2 pages) description of the specific education technology you intend to incorporate into your unit/training. Include links to the product or app and describe how the students will use it. You do not need to provide specific lesson plans, but need to demonstrate that you have a clear idea of what you want the students to use and how they will use it.
For example, if you were to start using MS Office in the classroom, you could describe how you would allow students to type their papers using MS Word and create presentations using MS PowerPoint instead of hand-writing papers and doing traditional poster projects.
Next, complete the questions for Step 3 of page 15 of Fink’s guide. Include the following information when you answer each question in the worksheet. You will have to copy each question to a new Word document in order to answer it.
1. Forward-looking Assessment: The key is that you have students work on real-world problems. Think about how they will apply the knowledge you are teaching as well as how they will use the technology in the future. How can you create assessments such as a class project, portfolio assignment, a case-study, or other activity where they apply their knowledge?
2. Criteria & Standards: Think about what qualifies as poor work that does not meet your standards, satisfactory work that does meet your standards, and excellent work that exceeds your standards. Be specific. Look at your assignment rubrics for examples of this.
3. Self-Assessment: Students should have some idea of how they are doing without having to ask the teacher or instructor. How will you help them evaluate their own work and learning as they work on their assignments?
4. “FIDeLity” Feedback: This will be the formal feedback that you will give to students as well as informal feedback you will give them as they work on their assignments and assessments.
It would be a good idea to use the information that you provided for the discussion questions in the following weeks. (Note: you are not expected to use all of it if ...

1. What are your personal thoughts on the use of electronics by children in and out of the classroom? At what ages do you find electronic use most appropriate? What advice would you give parents regarding the appropriate amount of time for electronic use?
2. If you suspected that a student was not receiving proper nutrition at home, what actions might you take? Be specific.
3. In this benchmark assignment, you will be planning a Wellness Fair for the students and families of your kindergarten class. The Wellness Fair will incorporate the mini-lesson plans you previously created in this course. You will also create a digital invitation to the Wellness Fair.
Part 1: Mini-Lessons Rationale
In preparation for the Wellness Fair, review the health, nutrition, safety, and fitness mini-lessons you designed throughout the course.
In 250-500 words, write a rationale explaining your instructional decisions for each wellness lesson. Make sure to include how those decisions directly support the characteristics and needs of the “Class Profile” students.
Part 2: Wellness Fair Event Plan
Health, safety, nutrition, and fitness are topics you have been teaching to your kindergarten students through your mini-lessons; however, it is also beneficial to educate the families on the same topics. Therefore, your goal in this section is to design a wellness fair to educate the families on these topics so they can support their children at home more successfully.
In order for the fair to be effective, you will need community support to assist in providing educational booths in the areas of health, nutrition, safety, and fitness. For this part of the assignment, you will create a 1,000-1,250 word plan outlining the wellness fair for your students’ families, including how you will involve the community.
Include the following in your plan:
· Agenda: Outline the timing for each activity during the event in a simple agenda format.
· Welcome: Briefly describe how you will introduce the event to all participants.
· Opening Activity: Plan an opening activity for the families and children that will explain the purpose of the wellness event with the community and promote shared values and expectations in creating a healthy, respectful, and challenging learning environment.
· Community Resource Booths: Outline four community resource booths that will provide information on health, safety, nutrition, and fitness (one booth per topic). Include a community resource you will invite to represent the topic, 3-4 interesting and important statistics relating to the booth’s topic and young children, and a 50-100 word description of why that topic is important to the development of young children. Briefly describe how each booth will address the needs of children in the class both with and without exceptionalities, based on the “Class Profile.”

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

ECS 565 WEEK 1 CHILD-INITIATED DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING
As an educator, what you do to guide young children into initiating their own development and learning is
crucial.
For this assignment, create a 1-2 page newsletter to give to the parents at your Birth to Pre-K center.
Consider GCU’s Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work that states, “Therefore, we are assured
that our work within the world matters to God and our neighbors, and that we honor God by serving
others in ways that promote human flourishing, as you introduce yourself and tell the families a little about
yourself in the newsletter and discuss the importance of child-initiated development and learning
particular to children from Birth through Pre-K.
In addition, discuss what you, their child’s educator, will do to guide the young children into initiating their
own development and learning. Be sure to include in the discussion the following:
1. The importance of individual and group guidance in the development of children ages Birth to
Pre-K.
2. Problem-solving techniques that help young children develop supportive relationships.
3. Strategies to facilitate child-initiated development and learning.
Support your findings with 3-5 scholarly resources
While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected,
and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can

ECS 565 WEEK 2 PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT PLAN
By this point in your degree program, you have been exposed to many different classrooms with varying
layouts. It is a good idea to start planning what your ideal classroom would look like. When you have your
own classroom, you may have to make adjustments due to physical space, budget, or other obstacles.
However, if you have an end goal in mind, you can work toward creating the setup that best fits the needs
of your students and your own personal style.
Based on your own research, use a digital tool or other appropriate strategy to create an ideal physical
layout of your birth to age 2 classroom. Your layout should include how you would organize the space,
materials, and resources in order to maximize progress and promote social interaction. Consider areas
centered on art, library, writing, science/math, dramatic play, blocks, and puzzles/manipulatives.
In addition, write a 500-750 word research-based essay explaining your layout. Explain how you would
organize space, time, and materials/resources to maximize progress and promote social interaction
amongst peers, parents, and caregivers. Furthermore, discuss any special attention you would give to
areas that would accommodate students with exceptionalities.
Support your findings with 3-5 scholarly resources.
Submit the physical layout and the explanation as one submission.

ECS 565 WEEK 3 DISCIPLINE, GUIDANCE, AND PUNISHMENT
When managing challenging behaviors in infants and toddlers, you must consider when to use guidance,
redirection, or discipline. Knowing the difference between these three approaches and coaching children
to recognize them is vital in their development. In addition to coaching children, it is necessary to maintain
a safe learning environment in which all can learn and grow.
Part 1: Infographic

Part 1: Assessment
Using the “Milestone Development Observation Chart,” record your observations of interactions in which
the child engages. Pay particular attention to the developmental domains in association with classroom
activity, peer and adult interaction, student strengths and weaknesses, and theories supporting behaviors.
In addition, create one other form of raw data (e.g. frequency chart, notes, academic or social/emotional
evidence) that can be shared with your mentor teacher to develop a clear assessment of the child’s
interactions.
Present your observations to your mentor teacher and discuss potential areas of needed support for the
child in the area of interacting with peers and adults. In 250-500 words, identify which age-appropriate
milestones the child is meeting, and where additional support might benefit him or her.
Part 2: Intervention Strategies
Based on your observations of the interactions of the child, design 2-3 instructional support intervention
strategies. Select one developmental area from your observation chart and design strategies that meet
the specific needs of the child in that area. These strategies can be designed to be implemented by you,
or in support of your mentor.
In addition, design 1-2 at-home activities to provide support in the same developmental area. Summarize
each intervention strategy and at-home activity in 50-100 words, and explain how each meets the needs
of the child. It is not necessary to share these activities with the child’s parents/guardians at this time.

ECS 565 WEEK 4 METHODS OF OBSERVATION
Formative assessments are used by teachers throughout the school year to collect performance data on
students for a variety of reasons. There are many different ways to perform these formative assessments.
Observing young students at play is one such assessment that can yield a wealth of information.
Part 1: Graphic Organizer
After researching different types of observation methods, complete the “Methods of Observation Graphic
Organizer” by describing the methods and the environment in which they are used. You may use a
variety of resources for your information (research articles, teacher or school websites, etc.).
Support your findings with 3-5 scholarly resources.
Part 2: Scenario and Reflection
Respond to the scenario:
You are planning to observe one of your preschool students, Jamie, during free play to see if he is in
need of services to assist him with gross motor development. Which observation method would work best
for you – anecdotal records, running records, checklists, rating scales, event sampling, or time sampling?
In a 250-500 word reflection, discuss which observation method you would use to observe this student
and why you feel it would be most appropriate. Describe the importance of conducting ongoing formative
child, family, and setting assessments to monitor progress and instructional effectiveness and student
progress.

ECS 565 WEEK 4 PRACTICUM C: INTERVENTION ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION- SOCIAL
DEVELOPMENT
Allocate at least 8 hours in the field to support this practicum/field experience.
Complete this assignment within the “Practicum C” section of your “Case Study Analysis Template.”
Part 1: Social Development Mini-Lesson
The children within the age range you are observing should be communicating with peers through
learning opportunities at a developmentally appropriate level. Your observations should provide a picture
of the social development of the child within the learning environment.
Create a mini-lesson to implement with a group or class that includes the child. Review your observations
to determine where the child is meeting social development milestones and where additional support
might be beneficial. Use this pre-assessment data to develop a lesson plan that includes two social
development activities. Your mini-lesson should include an outline of the following lesson components:
1. Objectives
2. Resources or Materials
3. Activities
4. Assessment
Once your mini-lesson is developed, share it with your mentor teacher, make appropriate changes based
on his or her feedback, and then implement the lesson activity. After implementing your lesson activity,
compile results of the aligned assessment to compare to the pre-assessment data and to document
progress.
Part 2: Reflection
In 250-500 words, reflect upon working with your mentor teacher to create your mini-lesson, implement
feedback, and discuss assessment data. In addition, rationalize your instructional decisions and reflect
8. upon implementation of your lesson activities. Address how the unique background and social
developmental needs of the child were addressed within the learning activities.
Use any remaining practicum/field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and
support to the class.

ECS 565 WEEK 5 ANALYZING EMOTIONAL COMPETENCE
It is important, as a teacher, to recognize signs of emotional distress in young children and respond in
developmentally appropriate ways.
Consider the following scenarios:
1. Jackie, 1-year-old, seemed startled when she heard the fire alarm go off. She cried loudly even
after her teacher picked her up and the fire alarm stopped ringing. The teacher held her gently
and spoke softly and reassuringly to her. Jackie eventually cried less and became visibly relaxed
in her teacher’s arms.
2. Thomas is upset with Ruben. “You can’t play here, Ruben. You pushed me when we were in
circle time,” said Thomas. Ruben responded by sweeping Thomas’s puzzle pieces off the table.
Mrs. Harrel, their teacher, spoke privately with Ruben and one part of her message was this: “You
can use words to tell Thomas that you are upset. Try saying, ‘I want to play with you. I’m upset
because you said no.’” She had Ruben say those words, for practice. Then she said, “Would you
like to tell him now?”
3. Mr. Alexander noticed that his class was unusually active and even agitated after their walk to the
library, and the children had difficulty settling back into their routine. Therefore, he gathered them
on the carpet, turned on soft music, and led them in deep breathing exercises.
9. Write a 250-500 word analysis of the scenarios. Your analysis should include how the emotions were
perceived by the teacher and the student, how the student expressed the emotions, and how the
emotions were controlled in each scenario.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Review the observation chart from your “Practicum B” assignment, paying attention to typical
development patterns for the age range of the child. Focus on the child’s social interactions and their
willingness to integrate the skills taught in the social development lesson into their learning environment.
Research potential checklists that can be used to assess the five developmental domains in young
children during play. The checklist, when implemented, should help identify potential delays or
intervention opportunities.
In collaboration with your mentor teacher, select or create a checklist that includes a minimum of two
developmental indicators for each developmental domain. Observe the child using the checklist to
determine areas of developmental weakness. Following your observations, identify potential intervention
activities for addressing those areas of weakness.
Part 2: Reflection
After assessing the child with your checklist, present your findings to your mentor teacher and discuss the
potential intervention activity you have identified.
In 250-500 words, summarize the data collected in your checklist, the possible intervention activity for the
child, and reflect upon your conversation with your mentor teacher.
10. Use any remaining practicum/field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and
support to the class.
Submit the checklist and the “Practicum D” section of your “Case Study Analysis Template” as one
deliverable.

following:
How to guide young children in developing positive social behaviors.
Social development in the area of friendship and relationship building skills.
Strategies that can be used to teach children social skills and conflict resolution.
How to advocate on behalf of the children and their families while respecting family choice.
Support your findings with 3-5 scholarly resources.

DEVELOPMENT
Allocate at least 8 hours in the field to support this practicum/field experience.
Complete this assignment within the “Practicum E” section of your “Case Study Analysis Template.”
Part 1: Emotional Development Mini-Lesson
Create an emotional development mini-lesson to implement with the child. Review your previous
observations to determine where the child is meeting emotional developmental milestones and where
additional support might be beneficial. Use this pre-assessment data to develop a min- lesson that
includes two separate activities that can be implemented to improve the emotional development of the
child. Specifically focus on supporting transitions among settings, based on the milestones identified
during observations.
In addition, rationalize your instructional decisions and reflect
upon implementation of your lesson activities. Address how the unique emotional developmental needs
and diverse background of the child were addressed within the learning activities.
12. Use any remaining practicum/field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and
support to the class.

development and implementation of individualized plans.
Describe the importance of providing social and emotional support to young children, as well as
strategies to address challenging behaviors.
Include a title page, speaker’s notes, and reference page.
Support your findings with 3-5 research-based sources.

ECS 565 WEEK 8 POSITIVE INTERVENTION STRATEGIES
It is important to use positive intervention strategies with challenging behavior for children. These
interventions should be positive and proactive and not all should be reactive and consequence-
based. Children at a young age both with exceptionalities and without need to be taught routine and
recognition of their behaviors.
In a 500-750 word research-based essay, discuss the importance of positive intervention strategies
particular to children in a Birth to Pre-K setting. As an educator, what can you do to promote self-efficacy
related to behavior management in young children? Your essay should discuss:
1. Three to five positive and proactive intervention strategies.
2. How chosen intervention strategies positively support and guide children in the accessibility of the
general curriculum and daily routines.
3. How to provide support to families in the decisions and priorities made regarding the development
of goals and intervention strategies in place for young children.
