3. WHAT IS EHF?
• EHF is a severe, often fatal disease in human
and nonhuman primates(monkeys, gorillas
and chimpanzees)
• Ebola is a virus, named after a river in the
Democratic Republic of Congo, in Africa where
it was first discovered.
• It’s exact habitat/origin is unknown, however
its believed that the animal is zoonotic( animal
borne) eg. Primates, bats etc
4. SUB TYPES OF EBOLA VIRUS
• Ebola-zaire
• Ebola-Sudan
• Ebola-Ivory Coast
• Ebola-Bundibugyo
• Ebola-Reston
NB: The first 4 sub types causes disease in
human while the 5th type does in nonhuman
primates
5. MODE OF TRANSMISSION
• Ebola virus is transmitted from person to
person by direct contact with blood
,secretions , organs and semen
