Easy Essay Topics For High School Students
Writing an essay on the topic "Easy Essay Topics for High School Students" might seem,
ironically, not so easy at first glance. The challenge lies in striking the right balance between
simplicity and engagement. While the subject may appear straightforward, the task of selecting
suitable topics that cater to high school students while maintaining their interest can be daunting.
Firstly, identifying topics that are both accessible and stimulating for high school students
requires careful consideration. These topics need to be relevant to their experiences, interests,
and educational level. Moreover, they should encourage critical thinking and creativity without
overwhelming the students with complexity.
Next, crafting the essay itself involves ensuring clarity and coherence in presenting the chosen
topics. It's crucial to structure the essay in a way that is easy to follow, with clear introductions,
body paragraphs, and conclusions. Additionally, incorporating examples, anecdotes, or relevant
real-life scenarios can enhance the essay's appeal and make the concepts more relatable to high
school students.
Furthermore, striking a balance between providing enough information to educate the reader and
avoiding overwhelming them with excessive detail is key. The essay should aim to inform and
engage without becoming overly simplistic or verbose.
Moreover, addressing the diverse interests and backgrounds of high school students adds another
layer of complexity. What may be engaging for one student could be entirely uninteresting to
another. Therefore, tailoring the essay to appeal to a broad audience while still maintaining focus
and coherence is a delicate task.
In conclusion, while the topic "Easy Essay Topics for High School Students" may seem
straightforward, the process of crafting an engaging and informative essay on this subject
involves navigating various challenges. From selecting relevant topics to presenting them in a
clear and engaging manner, writing such an essay requires careful consideration and skill.

Smoking and Second Hand Smoking Essay
Lifestyle is one of the determinants of health. Several factors influence the family
lifestyle in UAE such as smoking. Tobacco uses still a great health hazard. It
caused death for more than six million people in the world in 2010 (Aden, Karrar,
Shafey Al Hosani, 2013). UAE faces a lot of negative effects related to tobaccosuch
as cardiovascular disease which counted by 37.5% of all deaths in the Emirate of
Abu Dhabi (Aden, Karrar, Shafey Al Hosani, 2013). Injury can cause mortality and
disability. It was the second leading cause of death UAE between 2000 and 2008
which is estimated at 1200 deaths per year. Around 9% of deaths of children was
caused by injury from 2000 to 2008 (Loney, Aw, Daniel, Handysides, Ali, Blair,

It also can increase the risk of cancer, peripheral vascular diseases, and lung cancer.
Smokers are at doubled risk for ischemic stroke (Ockene Miller, 1997). Smoking
plays a great role in endocrine disorders. It can decline the rate of fertility in both
male and female. It is also associated with insulin resistance (Tweed, Hsia, Lutfy,
Friedman, 2012). Indeed, both types of smoking, active and passive smoking can
cause serious health problems. Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke, by
persons other than the intended active smoker. It is also known as second hand
smoking and it can cause premature death and morbidity. It can cause ischemic
heart disease and asthma (Wipflia Sameta, 2011). Second hand smokers are at
increased risk for coronary heart disease by approximately 30% (Barnoya Glantz,
2005). Second hand smoking has undesirable harmful impacts on children. It can
cause lower respiratory tract infection, asthma, cot death and meningococcal
disease. Children are more prone to develop the above mentioned diseases than
adults as, children inhale more polluted air per kilogram (action on smoking and
health, 2014). I would like to advise the paterfamilias or any smoker to visit a Clinic
for Smoking Cessation as it helps them to stop smoking immediately.Home accidents
and injuries are common cause of death in the UAE especially among kids. They
spend most of their time inside homes. The parents believe that their home is
Hunger And Hunger Of Hunger
You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am so famished that you could see
every little detail of my bones. I don t even have the energy to talk, or even walk
because my last meal was four days ago. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a
pleasant position to be in. There are approximately 920 million people in the world
who yearn for a meal each day, and every three point six seconds someone dies from
hunger. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been
hungry before, I ve missed breakfast, then my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No,
you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes were I desire to find just a morsel of food
in the dumpster in the alley.

I will then pursuit to find anything that is edible. The smell is excruciating, but I
must find something. I ripped opened a garbage bag, and seen a bag that was covered
with a baby s diaper, spilled soda, and a chewed up piece of gum. In the bag was a
half eaten pasta salad, and I ate every substance from that bag. The dumpster was my
breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. It was the reason why I m still alive.
Hunger is stealing from a supermarket. This was the vile side of hunger, but it was

meat section. Glancing over my shoulder cautiously, I tear the barcode label and
stuff two packs of chicken legs in my jacket. I knew it was bad, but I have a
hungry family at home. I do the same to another pack of meat, and head for the exit.
I slip pass the exit not trying to look suspicious. A cloud of shameand guilt rose
around me as I strolled down the block towards my home. I could return them back,
but we were hungry at home. Food costed money, something we didn t have.

old leftover sandwich, and a bottle of beer. My mom didn t make groceries again
because she bought other things . As a 10 year old, I shouldn t have to always come

The True Effects Of A Living Wage

An Essay Discussing the True Effects of a Living Wage
Dylan Gallagher

Word Count: 1906
Introduction
It has been 20 years since the first living wage was introduced in Baltimore,
Maryland. Long has it been argued that profitable organizations should have to pay a
living wage to its employees. A wage sufficient enough to allow the employee to
have a high enough standard of living to adequately take care of their family. The
gap between social statuses is increasing even more, and having a living wage in
place will help to reduce this gap in society, enabling those at the lower end of the
economic spectrum to enjoy more luxuries that they would not usually have access
to. Some key discussion points that need to be addressed are; possible job losses,
reduction of poverty level, the effect on crime, health care effects, reducing urban
poverty, and the varying costs of living that occur depending in different geographic
locations. In this essay I will be debating the thesis of profitable organizations should
be required to pay all their employees a living wage.
What is a Living Wage?
According to the Collins English Dictionary a living wage is a wage adequate to
permit a wage earner to live and support a family in reasonable comfort . The
Treasury Report released by the New Zealand government states this wage to be
$18.40 an hour. By their calculations this wage is what is required by a family of
two adults and two children. The living

What is pleural effusion
Pleural effusion is known as a build up of fluid between the layers of tissue that line
the lungs and chest cavity.

Symptomatic effusions can be treated for reaccumulating or repeated effusions, by
the process of thoracentesis. The amount of fluid to be removed has no set limits, and
the removal of fluid can continue until the effusion is drained or the patient then
develops chest tightness, chest pain, or severe coughing.
For pleuritic pain NSAIDs can be given or other analgesics, on some occasions a
short course of oral opioids is given.
However effusions that are considered chronic, recurrent and causing symptoms is
teated with pleurodesis or intermittent drainage with an indwelling catheter. The
effusions caused by cancer and pneumonia however may require additional specific
measures.
The actual prognosis however is mainly dependant upon the underlying disease.
Complications may present, these may be:
After thoracentesis there may be presence of air in the chest cavity (pneumothorax)

Communist Party And Its Muslim Minorities
On September 23rd 2014, China found the prominent Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti
guilty of separatism and sentenced him to life in prison. This ruling came as a shock
to the international community, for he has been the foremost advocate of peacefully
resolving Uyghur ethnic unrest in China. Ilham Tohti is an ethnically Uyghur
economist, professor, writer, and public intellectual who has been spearheading the
vanguard of cultivating mutual understanding and respect amongst Han and Uyghur
Chinese. He has been steadfast on working within the system to finding a solution
that will be mutually beneficial for the Communist Party and the Uyghur ethnic
minorities in Xinjiang, home to many of China s ethnic Turkic Muslims. Even in the
face of adversity, he has been outspoken and quick to criticize the missteps of the
Communist Party s governance and policies towards Xinjiang province and its
Muslim minorities. Due to that, the CCP views him as a threat, rather than a
solution, to the extreme affairs of episodic ethnic and political unrest in Xinjiang.
With the growing resentment from the Uyghur populous towards government s
policies, the tensions in the Xinjiang region between Muslim Uyghur minorities and
Han Chinesehave escalated to waves of terrorist attacks around China, with the recent
stabbing in Kunming, being dubbed as China s 9/11 . In response, the CCP has
imposed a more oppressive campaign to crackdown on the separatists and stabilize
the region. In this plight,
The War Of France And Louis Xiv
The wars in France were one of the main causes to which economic distress arose.
France did not just simply acquire a substantial debt suddenly which led to
economic distress but gradually over time the financial situation in France
worsened due to events such as the Seven Years War 1756 1763, American
Revolution 1775 1783 and The Nine Years War (1688 1697) which would lead to
long term negative financial implications for France. Louis XIV had extended
France s power into Central Europe and North America. This power came about
through wars which landed France with a self inflicted debt which would cripple
its economy. When Louis XIV died in 1715 the state of the economy was dire and
the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and Louis XVI aggravated the
situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the immunity of taxes
on the nobility and clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately needed.
France s status as superpower was at threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great
Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances strong desire to retain this
power explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had adopted. In the
American war of independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist
the Americans. French aid was pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at
Yorktown in 1781. However although the Americans gained much from France s
support it led to no successful tangible results for France but it had

ABSTRACT There are many trends in our IT industry. Here we are going to
discuss about the emerging technology in IT (i.e.) Wi Fi technology. Wi Fi
(wireless fidelity) is a way to connect to the internet without any wires or
cumbersome cables. Wi Fi technology uses a radio technology called 802.11 b for
the wireless connectivity. 802.11 buses 2.4GHz of band frequency spectrum with a
bandwidth of 11Mbps(802.11a 5GHz,54Mbps 802.l1g 2,4GHz,54Mbps).In this
paper we have discussed in detail about what Wi Fiis and How does it work, what the
hotspots are and how does the Wi Fi technology has been implemented in these
hotspots. The Wi Fi technology finds its great utility in the device called Infinity Tele

Over the past several years, the Wi Fi Alliance has qualified hundreds of products
as interoperable. Standardization will bring legitimacy to this cutting edge
technology. Wi Fi networks use radio technologies called IEEE 802.11 a, 802.11 b or
802.11 g to provide secure. Reliable, fast wireless connectivity. A Wi Fi network
can be used to connect computers to each other, to the Internet and to wire
networks (which use IEEE 802.3 or Ethernet). Wi Fi networks operate in the
unlicensed 2.4 and 5 GHz radio bands, with an 11 Mbps (802.11 b) or 54 IV1bps
(802.11 a) data rate. 2. IS WI FI FOR MY BUISNESS? Large corporations and
campuses use enterprise level technology and Wi Fi CERTIFIEDTM products to
extend standard wired Ethernet networks to public areas like meeting rooms,
training classrooms and large auditoriums. Small businesses are dynamic, the built in
flexibility of a Wi Fi network makes it easy and affordable. Your Wi Fi devices will
have the best chance of working together if they are Wi Fi CERTIFIEDTM. Look for

The Responsibility Of The Supernatural In Shakespeare s...
Firstly, the first supernatural components used in the play to motivate Macbeth s
actions are the witches. Macbeth meets the three witches which represent
supernatural elements in the play. By Sinel s death I know I am thane of Glamis.
But how of Cawdor? The thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be
king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from
whence (1, 3, 71 76). Here Macbethdisbelieves the witches because what they say
seems to be impossible. But later in the play when we learn that Macbeth surely
does become the Thane of Cawdor he gets more motivation to take more powerful
and drastic steps to become the king. All hail, Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter.

After Macbeth murders Banquo he leaves and goes to the witches to learn more
about his future. There he sees the first apparition, an armed head which says to
Macbeth Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff; beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss
me. Enough (4, 1, 73 74). The apparition warns Macbeth about Macduff. This gives
Macbeth an edge over Macduff, who wants to kill him because of all the bad deeds
he has done to stay in power. Macbeth can start to plan on how defend himself
against Macduff or even plan to assassinate him as he did with the king before him
and also as he did with Banquo. The second Apparition is a bloody child who
comes to Macbeth and tells him Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn the
power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth (4, 1, 81 83). This
Apparition increases Macbeth s confidence so much. Macbeth thinks that everyone
is of woman kind so he cannot be harmed. This makes Macbeth feel like he has total
control over everyone and that no one can challenge him. But the final Apparition
tells Macbeth Macbeth shall never vanquish d be until Great Birnam Wood to high
Dunsinane Hill shall come against him (4, 1, 96 98). Macbeth does not feel as if he
has anything to worry about because he believes that the second Apparition will
protect him from anyone. These three Apparitions show Macbeth his weaknesses and

European Security Strategy
The establishment of the European Union (EU) solidified a united political,
economic, and defensive front creating a Supranational Organization (Lucas, 1999,
no page). With the assistance of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and
the United States, the EU has developed a comprehensive security strategy
responsible for leading the coalition s objectives for mutual solidarity, global
stabilization, and defense. To address security threats both regionally and globally set
forth by the European Security Strategy (ESS), considerations were developed which
encompass both cultural domains of geography and development.

The EU recognizes that developmental efforts applied to individual cultural entities
induce stability and a pro western belief system (CS L2, 2013, 17). This framework
serves to foster the integration of international partnerships with neighboring states
and global partnerships with international powers such as the United States, Russia,
the African Union, and the United Nations to pursue global stability through political,
financial, and military efforts. The EU has also developed plans to invest and
integrate with international organizations such as the World Trade Organization
(WTO), Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Association
of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), (MERCOSER) and, Interpol to provide
assistance in the foundation and continuance of an effective law and order structure,
as well as fair trade principles within emerging democracies, and to assist recovering
states with re establishing financial and governmental integrity. These results will
lead to an enhanced strategic position and level of security for the EU and its allies
The ESS has recognized regional stability as a top priority for the EU. Conflicts in
the Balkans, the persistent threat of war between Israel and Palestine, cultural
revolutions along the Mediterranean s southern shores, and fierce conflicts along the
EU s border all play an integral role in the
The Role Of Segregation In The Film And Film
The film book Eyes on the Prize really opened up my eyes to what was going on in
the 1960s. Segregation affected all elements of life in the United States, and blacks
did not have the same basic rights as whites. Blacks took a beating literally to get the
rights they deserved. These individuals overcame so much on their goal to receiving
freedom and equality. From getting beat, hospitalized, to boycotting busses, and
restaurants. Everything they did took tremendous courage. It is unbelievable that
their faith was strong enough to overcome such obstacles placed in front of them. In
Nashville, many hateful and segregated issues was displayed openly to the public.

not stop local blacks in the city at all. Black citizens continued to help the

and some students refused to pay as they thought it was unjust and would rather do

money in a white man s store. Black leaders thought an economic boycott would
directly affect the white storeowners. The belief that not supporting these businesses

Africa is an amazing continent. All life began in Africa and spread out further to
colonize the world. Later the world would colonize Africa and carve the land up. The
natives of the continent had very little say at the Berlin Conference. The main players
in the conference were Great Britain, Belgium France, Portugal Italy Germany and
Spain. Leopold II took one of the most disrupted regions today. The Democratic
Republic of Congo would give Belgium power by their exploitation of rubber. The
Congo has still not recovered from this colonization and in my opinion this is one of
the worse mismanaged colonies. Germany took the southwest of Africa. Namibia still
has a strong German presence. Swakopmund is a city in Africa that

Jingle Ball Concert
Sunday, December 10 was a night to remember. Kiss 108 s Jingle Ball took place,
at TD Garden, Boston. The opening acts began at 6 pm. The one downside to this
was I had a basketball game right before the concert. As a result, I missed most of
the opening performers. However, this concert was still the best I have ever
attended. The acts I missed were the boy band, Why Don t We and Girl Meets World
star Sabrina Carpenter singing two of her songs.
On the way into the concert, there was a vendor selling t shirts, after bargaining, we
bought the shirts for only $10. We quickly paid for them and ran into the stadium.
Luckily, I made it just in time for the last opening act, Max Schneider. Additional
performers of the night included: Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Kelly Clarkson,
Halsey, Fifth Harmony, and lastly Fall Out Boy. Each sang two to four songs. This
concert was a nine act, 3 1/2 hour show.
The arena was packed with fans all different ages, all with pulsing energy. People
wore festive outfits and most were in the holiday spirit. I attended the concert with
four of my closest friends, we had been planning the night out for months. Our seats

Roof Shingles Case Study
Back in 1989 when I installed my first asphalt shingle there was many changes in the
roofing manufacture sector. The end result was down sizing the weight to
accommodate a more flexible shingle. The old shingles in the USA were known as
Asphalt roofing shingles or a standard strip 3 tab shingles. At that time there were
other shingles on the market known as Standard strip asphalt composition shingles or
Architectural shingles called Timberline or heavy weight shingles known as random

There are roofing shingles that I have seen come and go, such as the masonite

seal it off. There are also concrete tiles which I would consider composite since it
does not have the slate or clay tile attributes, known as concrete tiles. There is also
another material called Mira Vista of which was a fake slate the Owens Corning

plasticiser type composite material.
At any rate it is up to you to decide what type of roof you would like to put on your
home. Every shingle manufacturer in the USA is an asphalt composition roofing
shingle. All Asphalt fiberglass composition shingles come with a 20 year to lifetime

Alexander Romance Essay
A Marvelous World: The Uses of Fantasy in The Alexander Romance and A True
Story
There is great contrast between the uses of fantasy in The Alexander Romance by
Pseudo Callisthenes and A True Story by Lucian. Pseudo Callisthenes uses the
fantastical elements in his novel to reveal certain characteristics of his main
character, Alexander, which are both positive such as his creativity and intelligence
and negative such as his hubris. Lucian uses the marvelous to satirize his society
especially the elements he viewed as unfeasible including the domain of philosophy.
Thus, he problematizes this domain and certain people within it, such as Plato by
combining real figures with fantastical elements. Precluding the birth of Alexander,

Another major fantastical motif seen in the Alexander Romance is that of flight.
Alexander s flight to heaven is an influential moment for the character of
Alexander. On one hand this episode enhances his traditional characterization,
which includes elements such as creativity, ambition and cleverness . Alexander s
strategic abilities and creativity are displayed in this situation. This is
demonstrated by the creation with which constructs in order to achieve his
fantastical ends. After capturing two birds in the area Alexander constructed
something like a yolk to be made of timber and for it to be attached to their necks.
The device continued as Alexander made a sort of basket from ox hide This
demonstrates Alexander s creative abilities as he utilizes the materials available to
him in order to achieve his ends. His strategic abilities in this situation are
displayed as he ordered the birds not to be given food for three days . When
Alexander gets into the basket to fly with the birds he is holding a spear about
seven cubits long with horse liver on its tip This caused the birds to fly up to eat the
liver . This shows his ability to strategize and deduce that the best way to fly the
highest the fastest would be to starve the birds and then urge them on with food .
His ambition is highlighted in this situation as he wondered whether the end of the
earth was really here and whether the sky sloped
The Hunt By Josephine Donovan
Unlike animals, humans are able to observe past the mere monochromatic vision of
survival. We have an impeccable ability to desire more than just living to breed, and
breeding only to someday perish. Thus, we gradually brush this canvas with the
colours of ethics, control, and knowledge. Whether the colours fade or become
prominent through time, this canvas becomes our perception of normality and we
allow it to justify our actions; favorable or harmful. We, as well as the narrator in the
short storyThe Hunt by Josephine Donovan represent this. However, because of the
narrator s difference in perception, self indulgence, and greed for power, the story
introduces a feeling of infuriation to the reader. The practice of killing an animal for
food, trade or recreational activity has been a fairly permanent and traditional aspect
of our history. Even after animal domestication grew, the approach of hunting to
supply food was never abandoned. Hence, the idea of an animal s death is very
ordinary. Yet, when the narrator presents the idea of killing another humanand
hanging their heads on his wall as a trophy, the concept is angering. It allows the
readers to pose the question of why we choose to have this double standard. From
the birth of our existence, humans have been killing one another. The reasons vary
from family feuds, religious disagreement, to territorial gain. Howbeit, no matter the
scale of war, there is always an explanation connected to the act; killing for thrill
Macbeth, Analysis Of Come You Essay

(Act I, scene V, lines 44 45)
In Macbeth, William Shakespeare writes this passage in order to shape the character
of Lady Macbeth. Using only this line, the reader can almost determine Lady
Macbeth s personality and her motives.
Up to the point where this quote leaves off, we have not heard much of Lady Macbeth
. When she receives the letter from Macbeth, it seems her fascination is not directed
at her husband, but at her husband s newly attained power. It is evident that the first
impression of Lady Macbeth is negative. Without wasting any time, she begins to plan

By now, we are able to recognize Lady Macbeth s nature. Her thoughts are
bombarded with dark images and her mind is set on the murder of the King.
Finally, in the last and most significant part of the sentence Lady Macbeth says,
unsex me here. In context, she wants the spirits to come and take away her soft,
feminine characteristics. She feels that her husband is too nice to get the greatness
he is promised, and the only way he can succeed is if she helps him. From what we
have seen, Lady Macbeth seems to be the man of the house. She is willing to do
anything that is necessary in order for her to be queen, including murder. She is also
quite smart, she knows that her husband tends to be passive, and is not about to give
up on him now. In the first half of the novel, Lady Macbeth is the brain behind the
operation. She not only provides the actual plan, but encourages her husband as well.
During the period the novel was written, women were considered to be submissive.
However in her case, she is so influential that Macbeth is even persuaded by her.
To help convince Macbeth not to call the murder off, Lady Macbeth questions his
manhood. She says, When you durst do it, then you were a man;/ And to be more
than what you were, you would/ Be so much more the man (pg. 20, lines 55 57)

The United States And Japan
After the atomic bombs had fallen and Japan was smoldering, very few people
thought the land of the rising sun would ever rise again. However, as history can
attest, they were wrong. In the wake of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and
subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a short month later. The
reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of Allied
Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even
cleared .This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were
previously untapped. Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United

impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of both the United States and
the Japanese postВwar governments. The exact nature of this impact would not be
truly appreciated, however, for years to come.
ECONOMIC
In the years immediately following the second Great War, Japan was struck by what
some would call an economic miracle . This miracle allowed for the industrialized
nation of Japan to regain its foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia.
Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for unconditional surrender and for Japan to
be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied troops, and demilitarized. Japan
would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic viability would
be guaranteed through free trade Although the
John Owen s Holy Spirit
JOHN OWEN S VINDICATION OF HOLY SPIRIT S DEITY AND ITS BENEFITS
FOR BELIEVERS
Against the Socinians, John Owen vindicated the deity of the Holy Spirit, as well as
his benefits for believers, within a Christological context. The Socinians were not the
only opponents Owen dealt with, but they were notorious for their anti Trinitarian
views. On Owen s theological engagement, Crawford Gribben assessed the Socinian
threat as a gift to Owen for drawing attention to the ambiguity of the boundaries of
orthodoxy permitted by the state, and that Owen took advantage of the moral panic.
While it is true that Owen produced theological works in response to Socinianism,
Owen regarded Socinianism as a major threat. The same applies to other ... Show

Before examining the doctrines of Socinian and those of Owen, however, it is
important to consider the historical context of these theological controversies.
Historical Context
John Owen s Context
John Owen (1616 1683) was born in Stadhampton, near Oxford, to Henry Owen, a
man of Puritan sympathies. After finishing local grammar school, Owen
matriculated at Queen s College, Oxford, in 1631. Owen achieved his Bachelor of
Arts in 1632. He finished his Master of Arts studies in 1635 and ordained deacon.
Then Owen engaged in a 7 year course for a Bachelor of Divinity. In 1642, Owen
published A Display of Arminianism, the first among many of his works. Owen soon
received much attention and was invited to preach before Parliament.
In 1649, after the execution of Charles, Owen again preached to parliament. Here,
Oliver Cromwell was present and chose Owen as his chaplain. Owen was then
appointed Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1651. In the following year, Owen
became vice chancellor and served until 1657. As a preacher who joined Cromwell s
revolution, Owen s appointment was a symbolic victory over monarchy. In other
words, the new appointments to key university positions were symbolic of the wider
ambitions of the Cromwellian administration.
As the Oxford Reformer, as Gribben put it, Owen promoted Calvinistic piety that
transcended the political and cultural division of the university. In 1651, for example,
Owen outlined the qualities of Calvinistic piety when he
Symbolism In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne, in his short story The Birthmark (written and published prior
to 1843), contains the element of symbolism to present the theme of personal
beauty, regardless of physical appearance. More specifically, he speaks of the
appearance of Georgiana, the wife of Aylmer, who had a very large birthmark, or
blemish that appeared upon birth. God made every individual perfect, and made it
very clear that man not need go tampering with the beauty, inner or external, that God
gave someone at the moment of their birth birth. The style Hawthorne chose
describes each symbol with great detail . For example, when Hawthorne describes the
birthmark in detail; ...But if any shifting motion caused her to turn pale there was the
mark again,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Aylmer tries to destroy Georgiana s human nature [her birthmark, in
which born with], thus destroying her life, because she essentially contained no
beauty on the outside (Rosenberg, The Best The Earth Has To Offer). Aylmer
wanted to cure his wife from the birthmark she had that he so dreaded. He looked at
his wife as being Shocking (Hawthorne, The Birthmark). Another example would be
when Aminabad looked at Georgiana with the identity given to her, not the identity
her husband wants for her . ...Aminadab, looking intently at the lifeless form of
Georgiana; and then he muttered to himself, If she were my wife, I d never part with
that birthmark. Aminadab shows large levels of content with the appearance and
features of Georgiana, that he would have never tampered with the features given to
her at birth, opposed to Aylmer, who wanted to change the way she looked, that she
be more beautiful to him (Rosenberg, The best the Earth has to Offer). A third
example of this theme would be That Georgiana Wants Her husband to love her the
way she is, and in the beginning of the story, gets rather upset at him. Shocks you, my
husband! cried Georgiana, deeply hurt; at first reddening with momentary anger, but
then bursting into tears. Then why did you take me from my mother s side?
(Hawthorne, The Birthmark).
The Black Slave Codes, Jim Crow Laws, And Color Line
Especially considering the Civil Rights Movement was over 50 years ago. IT IS
NO ACCIDENT that the pivotal Supreme Court decision launching the modern
civil rights movement was an education case the 1954 Brown v. Board of
Education of Topeka ruling. (Leadership Conference) For America present day, the
change in race relation has changed, technically for no longer are acts of hatred as
blatantly open and accepted; while they still do exist they are not as common and
frequently exposed as appropriate. The Black Slave Codes, Jim Crow Laws, and
Color Line are within our societies normative cluster cultures. This is where groups
of culture habit a vicinity of likeness and share appropriations, such as racial
norms, bed rocked by realtor support, financed lender discrimination, city property
tax inequality increases, and school zonings. These are some of the new erected
obstacles that blacks face when trying to assimilate into a society not made for
their habituation. Now don t take my word for it, but just as a Racist would claim
their non racist ways, so would an individual who bares no observation from the
receiving end of inequality. Just take for example the school teacher interviewed
during a psychological experiment in Europe on Racism. (Elliot, Jane) In the South,
anti Black violence declined. Black candidates were elected to political offices in
communities where blacks had once been barred from voting, and many of the
leaders or organizations that came into
Fidelity Checks In Schools
In investigating about the evaluation procedures for many different positions of a
school, I learned a great deal about how, when, and why. There is a system in place
for most employees and their evaluation procedures. Teachers are evaluated
according to their license status and the previous year s TVAAS score. This can
mean they have anywhere between two to six evaluations throughout the year. Some
will be scheduled but others are unannounced to allow for teacher accountability. On
top of these evaluations, teachers are also check upon during Response to
Intervention (RTI). These checks are called fidelity checks and are used to ensure
teachers are following state procedures put into place regarding their tier and student
needs.
Why I Am A Nurse
I will always remember one piece of advice a teacher taught me during my senior
year of high school. She said: If you love what you do, you will never work a day in
your life! I have been incredibly fortunate to say I have not worked since I became
a nurse. Become a nurse is much more than simply a calling. Nursing is a way of
life; the compassion and care we give to our patients each and every single day is
not something many people have the ability to do. To date, I have been one of the
millions of compassionate and hardworking nurses around the world for over two
years.
I have reached a point in my nursing career where I am ready to advance further in
the field of nursing. The excitement and potential to learn a new a new field in
anesthesia and embrace the challenges in that field truly drives me. I have been
preparing for a future as a Nurse Anesthetist since I got my first job. I have been
blessed to have started my nursing career in two large Magnet teaching hospitals;
all of which I ve been working in the Intensive Care Unit. My experience in a
Cardio/Thoracic ICU as well as Surgical ICU that includes a Cardiovascular/Thoracic
ICU has helped mold me into the type of nurse that is prepared for the challenges in
Anesthesia, as well as a CRNA program. My exposures to these two types of units
have included multiple types of surgical procedures, high acuity patients, conscious
sedation, rapid sequence intubations, and emergent situations. Working alongside
Fallot Colostomy
The most common comorbid cardiac malformation is a ventricular septal defect
(VSD). or tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and others are isolated defects. In Case of VSD
the patency of the ductus arteriosus can be maintained by the use of prostaglandin
while the colostomy is established. Also the patent foramen ovale may need to be
enlarged by the balloon technique in the case of inadequate atrial mixing. This is
the only case where the cardiac lesion will have to be repaired before the ARM.
When EA/TEF is present also then many factors are involved in the treatment. Such
as the ligation or division of the distal TEF along with a colostomy. If the child has
TOF the descending aorta may be on the right side, making the definitive repair of
the EA/TEF easier from the left thoracic approach. A systemic to pulmonary shunt
may be required Only in the presence of a cyanotic cardiac lesion... Show more

There are usually hemivertebrae present that will tilt the pelvis to a varying degree

absence of several pelvic vertebrae is more often associated with urinary
incontinence than with bowel incontinence. At times the spinal malformation may
be very severe with lack of development of the sacrum and sacral nerve plexus, a
condition known as caudal regression or caudal dysgenesis sequence. In these
instances, the baby s buttocks are flat and the gluteal crease is barely discernable.
The clinical import of this condition is that the pelvic musculature and innervation are
impossible to utilize. The establishment of an anal opening on the perineum will
result in a perineal colostomy with little or no bowel control and no possibility of
maintaining a colostomy bag seal. In these cases, establishment of a permanent
colostomy is required following separation of the distal bowel from the urogenital
What Is The Theme Of The Song The Middle By Mark
Trombino
The song The Middle written by the band Jimmy Eat World and produced by Mark
Trombino addresses the topic of being unique. The song talks about a girl who is
trying to blend in and be like the crowd, but can t seem to fit in. The song reminds
to keep her head up and don t give up yet. Being unique and different is an alright
thing and right now she s just just in the middle of chaos and everything will turn
out just fine. The first main point of this song is that while high school or college or
whatever is going on in your life right now, it s just the middle of the ride, it ll turn
out alright. Little girl, you re in the middle of the ride. Everything, everything will be
just fine, (Trombino 2). Next, the song reinforces the theme by reminding

Having read the four poems from Seamus Heaney s collection Death of a

I like best, which are Death of a naturalist and Follower . Both of these are childhood
stories set in the countryside. These reflect how
Heaney felt about different aspects of life in his surroundings. This is one of the
reasons that I have chosen these two poems the idea of the countryside makes me
feel at home with these two poems. They are both set in the open air, which creates
an open atmosphere.

In this section we present our computational results of the properties of the
proposed socio spatial network models and compare them with those of ER, SW,
and BA networks when it is appropriate. More specifically, we measure clustering
coefficient, network density, average path length, assortativity, transitivity, and
min, max, mean, and standard deviation degree. While several algorithms have
been proposed for some of these measures, for simplicity of reproducing the results,
we use the algorithms that have been implemented in the Python s Networkx
library. All results are averaged over 25 independent model runs with different
random seeds. It should be noted that in all analysis in this study we only consider
undirected networks. Moreover, since the focus of this study is on the human
social network, we limit our analysis to Onnela et al s (2011) findings that α ≈
1.5 and only consider three values of О± = 1.2, 1.5, and 2 for our sensitivity
analysis purposes. 4 1 Properties of the Spatial Erdös Rényi Network In this
subsection we compute and report the characteristics of our proposed SER social
network in terms of empirical regularity measures. ER and SER networks have
different parameters, so pairwise comparisons are not possible. However, computing
and comparing their network properties can provide valuable insights about their
behavior under considered parameter settings. Here we report network properties for
three different values of connection probability p in the ER

Essay Juggling
A Princeton researcher, Les Fehme (Brain/Mind Bulletin vol. 8, no. 9. May 1983),
suggest we can optimize our overall performance in life by broadening our focus.
Juggling is one excellent way to do that. He claims most people have a narrow
focus, a lack of awareness of their own body sensations or emotions. This narrow
focus can be very absorbing and useful, as when talking on the telephone, driving a
motorcycle or getting a massage. It is as if nothing else exists except that. When
learning how to juggling, the narrow focus can be directed at a certain ball or pin.
This narrow focus agrees with observations that we live in a society which sees things
as fragments rather than holistic. But things are changing. And just maybe, juggling is

Not only that, but according to a test performed at Mount Union College in Alliance,
Ohio, lefties scored higher in creativity than right handers regardless of age. It went
on to explain four aspects of creativity flexibility, fluency, originality and elaboration.
Since the right hemisphere is normally associated with creativity, then any activity
which helps to awaken this suppressed hemisphere is certainly welcome. Enter
juggling. Who could argue juggling does not use both sides of the brain? Both
hands are used in juggling, aren t they? If an accomplished juggler now wants to
learn a new trick, once again the focus must become narrow, the ball or pin must
capture the attention (enter left brain activity). Like a beginning new juggler, he or
she must focus on throwing a double flip with the right hand before the left hand can
throw a pin behind the back.
In teaching people to juggle, they learn faster when asked to tell each time they have
done something wrong. At first, they have no awareness of wrong movements. Once
they recognize them, they can eliminate them. Therefore it is essential to practice in
order to learn juggling. The simplest movement requires complex electrical/chemical
circuitry within the brain. The study of this circuitry is fast becoming an important
field of neuroscience. Perhaps someday neurosurgeons will electronically hook up a
juggler and a monitor and the neuron action, which travels back and forth between the
two hemispheres
The Problem Of International Interference
Considered to be the second poorest countries internationally, Nicaragua is a country
faced with the need to rely on economic assistance groups in order to meet both
external and internal economic obligations. The idea of aiding other poor countries is
one that organizations such as the IMF , the World Bank , the Inter American
Development Bank etc. have in order to aids countries such as Nicaraguain their
economic growth. Receiving loans and having to repay them has increasingly
become a problem with which poor small countries have had to deal, since in many
cases these countries are not able to repay these loans and the money is lost. By
further analyzing why Nicaragua has not been able to become an industrialized
country even after the economic interference of different organizations I hope to
understand and identify why international interference has failed in Nicaragua and
ultimately to see if anything further can be done for the country or if it is unlikely
that the country will ever grow stably economically.
As students of political economy we need to understand why international
organizations fail to truly aid those that it needs to and why this occurs. Nicaragua
internationally is the second poorest nation in the world, why has this occurred?
Many scholars could argue that Nicaragua is poor due to corruption and
mismanagement of the economy by the government. Other scholars could argue that
Nicaragua is poor due to its agricultural economy which yields a minimal

The Pros And Cons Of US Military Spending
The United States is spending huge amounts of money on military defense when
there are other problem areas in our society that are in need of more funding.
$1.754 trillion that is the current estimated amount the United States has spent on
defense related costs since 2001 (Koshgarian, L., et al., 2015). While the United States
spends more on its military than China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the U.K., India,
France, and Japan combined (Peterson, P., 2016), it has one of the highest rates of
poverty among developed countries and lags behind in many social and economic

countries to be dependent on themselves; additionally, it will also prevent weaker

Increasing the right flow tube radius increased the flow rate, decreased the resistance
and increased the pump rate.
Describe what the left and right beakers in the experiment correspond to in the human

Overcoming Adversity In A Trip For Mrs. Taylor
Everyone has experienced adversity at one point in their life, whether it be a final
exam or staying strong while you re going through a rough time. As for many, they
assume that running from their problems is the easy way out when in fact running
from your problems may seem easy at the time, but is a race that can never be won.
Instead, we need to face our problems straight on, because the feeling of
conquering a challenge gives us an unexplainable feeling of success. Through the
character Mrs. Taylor, Author Hugh Garner depicts how facing hardships head on,
leads to the feeling of accomplishment in his story, A Trip For Mrs. Taylor . Based
on the story and a personal example it s evident that when an individual faces
adversity, they strive to overcome challenges which leads to the rush of success.
In the short story, A Trip for Mrs. Taylor, author Hugh Garner uses Mrs. Taylor to
demonstrate when Mrs. taylor is lonely, how going on a trip helps her to overcome
adversity through the smallest interactions with others which brings upon Mrs.
Taylor the feeling of success. From the start, a reader can infer that Mrs. Taylor
feels lonely and goes on a trip to fill the void of solitude. On the way to the
cathedral like station concourse, a young soldier sympathetically helps Mrs. Taylor
with her bags. The soldier was the first person outside of Mrs. Connell and the man

Traveling throguh the Dark by William Stafford
Traveling through the Dark by William Stafford is essentially a short poem that was
written based on personal experience. The poem starts out with an unnamed,
anonymous character which is also the narrator of the poem as he tells of a haunting
but sad memory in first person. The story begins by telling of how a cautious
traveler in the night comes across a dying deerbut with an unborn child waiting to be
born. What the traveler chooses to do with the deer and her child is a conflict that
will decide their fate. The poem is a sentimental poem that is both a memory from
the past and a lesson of morals by Stafford that draws the reader in and makes them
ponder; what would I do if I were in this situation? Being written in first person,
Stafford puts the reader into the traveler s position and by this, the reader can
experience what is happening as if it were them in the situation.
The short poem begins with a traveler driving along a narrow road by the Wilson
River in Oregon, United States. He stumbles upon a dead doe on the road and with
good intentions, tries to move it out of the way for safe travel of future drivers. He
realises that the doe is pregnant with an unborn child and this is where the traveler
comes into internal conflict with himself. He hesitates with the choices of helping
other drivers by tossing the doe with an unborn fawn into the water or saving it as if
he knew how to. In the end, the traveler does not save the doe and tosses it into the
river.
Organizational Behavior Defined
Organizational Behavior Defined Introduction It is reasonable to suggest that the
overwhelming majority of humankind has either been part of or required the
services of organizations at some point in time during their lives, and many of
these consumers will likely testify that although every organization is different in
some ways, they all share some common characteristics. Furthermore, because all
organizations are comprised of mere humans, they are subject to the same
behavioral whims, weaknesses and vagaries that also characterize the human
condition from day to day and over time. To gain further insights into these
concepts, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly
literature to develop a comprehensive and robust definition of organizational
behavior. This review is followed by a summary of the research and salient
findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion As the term indicates,
organizational behavior describes how people interact in a workplace setting to
achieve a common goal or purpose. In this regard, Kelly and Kelly (1998)
emphasize that, Organizational behavior is essentially concerned with what people
do in organizations (p. 4). Therefore, defining organizational behavior requires a
consideration of how people actually behave in workplace settings at a given point
in time as well as over time (Miner, 2002). As Kelly and Kelly point out, A good
working definition of organizational behavior is the systematic study of

NHL free agency begins on July 1, and there are many sought after free agents

After signing Scott Darling to a four year contract, the Canes exposed both Eddie
Lack and Cam Ward in the expansion draft. Vegas selected neither. Despite Ward
being at the tail end of his career, he has been the guy in Carolina for a long time.
That left Lack the odd man out; instead of buying out his contract, Carolina traded
him to the Calgary Flames in return for Keegan Kanzig. (I know. I ve never heard
of him either.) Although they retain part of Lack s contract for the next season, it s
less of a burden going forward, which is the entire purpose of the move. Between
Darling and Ward, nearly $7.5 million in cap money is used up on goalies alone.
With Lack s entire contract, the Canes would be spending an even more exorbitant
amount on three goalies when only two can play. This move makes a lot of sense,
but it surely disrupted Lack s honeymoon when he got the news. At least he did get
the news; Artemi Panarin was evidently out in rural Russia somewhere when he
was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Columbus Blue Jackets and couldn
t be reached for quite some time. Panarin and Tyler Motte were sent eastward in
exchange for Brandon Saad and Anton Forsberg, the latter of whom has already
signed a contract extension with his new team. Saad, of course, was a Blackhawk
before, and was part of their 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cup victories, before being dealt
to Columbus as a casualty of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane s ridiculous contracts.

Research Paper On Erikson Life Stages
3.Psychological System
During adolescence, individuals explore and establish a sense of their own identity,
which involves thinking about what they want in life, what kind of person they want
to be, and who they really are (Erikson, 1968). Although identity development is a
lifelong process, the concept of their identity is mainly formed and crystalized during
adolescence. Individuals often find themselves trying to become independent, but also
worrying about the responsibilities that come with the independence; adolescents
think about their values, the directions they choose to pursue in life, such as vocation,
interpersonal relationships, community involvement, ethnic group membership, and
expression of one s sexual orientation, as well ... Show more content on

In Erikson s Identity and the Life Cycle, he says the Identity Versus Identity
Diffusion psychosocial stage is characterized by adolescents search for a new sense
of continuity and sameness [but] some adolescents have to refight many of the
crises of earlier years (Erikson, 1959, p. 94). When adolescents encounter role
confusion or identity diffusion, they often encounter a dilemma based on a strong
previous doubt of one s ethnic and sexual identity, which can lead to delinquent and
outright psychotic incidents (Erikson, 1959, p. 97). Erikson describes it as the
inability to settle on an occupational identity and in order to keep themselves
together, they temporarily over identify, to the point of apparent complete loss of
identity (Erikson, 1959, p. 97). In order for adolescents to establish a coherent sense
of identity, the previous crises must be resolved and they must have a healthy sense
of trust, autonomy, initiative, and industry (Steinberg Belsky, 1991). James Marcia
(1980) in Blackwell Handbook of Adolescent Psychology further explored Erikson s
theory and expanded it with four different states of identity formation; suicidal
adolescents who are unable to form an identity may be stuck at identity diffusion or
identity moratorium. In identity diffusion, adolescents suffer from severe lack of
decision making and have no direction whereas adolescents are indecisive and have
different identity options, but do not fully commit in identity moratorium. As a result,
adolescents, unable to form an identity or struggle to form one, may turn to suicidal
thoughts and ultimately commit suicide. Adolescents who suffer from role confusion
or identity
Compare And Contrast Essay On The Hobbit
The Hobbit was a novel which revolved around the Lord of the Rings trilogy. J. R.
R. Tolkien wrote this book as an aid to his PTSD. This novel was loosely based on
the Medieval Times, from the Anglo Saxon and Scandinavian works. The narrative
followed around a group of people on a quest to take the treasure of Smaug. There
are many important components of each story. These include its plot, themes, or
setting. In this essay, I will be explaining the similarities and differences between the
three races of The Hobbit. The first topic of discussion will be the comparison of the
race s physical traits. These physical traits allow a reader to visualize characters. It
also gives the reader to make their own judgements of a race based on appearance.
In the terms of height, the hobbits and dwarves are shorter than an average human.
The hobbits ... wear no shoes... thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their
heads... (2, Ch. 1) This race also loves peace, quiet, and a good tilled earth. The
dwarves, however, are stocky and tough. An average dwarf grows a long bread on
their faces and wear heavy cloaks. Verification for this account is, It was a dwarf
with a blue beard tucked into a golden belt, very bright eyes under his dark green
hood. (7, Ch. 1). They are very strong from their continuous work in the mines.
Dwarves worked in mines and caverns to acquire the many gems needed for their
crafting. The dwarves also had experience in fighting wars with other races. Elves are

Fenella Character Analysis
Efie and Colina are half sisters. The girls were born to Fenella, a strikingly
beautiful woman. Fenella was married to Wallace, Laird of Inverness and the
father of Efie. He fell ill one day and withered in a week due to a mysterious
disease. The Lair was soon succeeded by Derek, Wallace s younger brother. Love
blossomed between Fenella and Derek, something which did not come as a surprise
to the members of the clan. Soon their union bore Fenella another daughter whom
she named Colina. But 3 years after Colina s birth, Derek was plagued with the same
illness Wallace suffered from and passed away.
Efie and Colina could pass up for twins although some differences are quite
apparent. Efie was vibrant and cheerful. Her hair flows down to her shoulders and
shimmers like gold under the sun. Her brown eyes speak of the naughty secrets she
keeps but would not think twice about divulging them to anyone who cares enough
to know. Colina, on the other hand, was always quiet, unsure and shy. But what she
lacks for in self expression is more than made up for by her astounding beauty.
Colina s hair was dark red, almost mahogany and her eyes were gentle green. She
was younger than Efie by 5 years, and as it is with younger sisters, Colina tries extra
hard to emulate Efie.
The sibling rivalry which now exists between the sisters was mainly due to how
Fenella has treated them. Anyone could see how Fenella favors Efie over Colina.
Fenella feels that Efie has become more and more like her
Lateral Patella Dislocation
The acute management of lateral patella dislocation is not entirely agreed upon in
the literature. Some research suggests that immobilization for a few weeks is best,
while others suggest that weight bearing as soon as possible is the most beneficial
(Rhee et al. 2012). It is however, agreed that some form of walking assistance, such
as crutches, should be used until normal gait can be achieved (Sillanpää 2010).
For a first time dislocation, it is likely that hemarthrosis, or severe swelling, of the
kneewill occur (Sillanpää 2010). Following the RICE principle, rest, ice,
compression and elevation, is best utilized to decrease swelling and other
inflammation symptoms (Rhee et al. 2012).

Expected Behavior in The Coquette and The Female Marine
In society, constructs of correctness have been formed on the basis of expected,
gendered behavior. Individuals have traditional roles that they play which are based
on the historical performance of their gender. Although very rigid, these traditional
roles are frequently transferred, resulting in an altered and undefinable identity that
exists beyond the boundaries of gender. These transgressions into the neuter role are
characterized by a departure from the normal roles of society which, if successful,
complete the gender transference and allow the individual to live within a new set of
boundaries. The Female Marine, or the Adventures of Lucy Brewer is the ... Show

Her essay deals with the conceptual presence of gender within society that functions
as the primary element in expected behavioral roles. Drawing upon previous
philosophic and psychoanalytic thought, Butler espouses a theory rooted in the
concept of social agents that constitute social reality through language, gesture, and
all matter of symbolic social sign. (Butler 270) Butler asserts that gender is not based
on an internal identity or self definition, but rather on perceptory, reflective notions of
performances. Gender itself, in its unstable temporality, is defined by Butler to be an
identity instituted through a stylized repetition of acts an ephemeral performance
from which social constructs are formed. (Butler 270) In this analysis, Butler
establishes the notion of gender as an abstracted, mass perception which is rendered
concrete by the fact of its common acceptance. It is a shared reality of the public, it s
existence is a consequence of society s mutual acknowledgment. In this light, Butler
describes the concept as being purely temporal the appearance and perception of
gender constitutes its reality. As a result, the examination of gender construction is
the examination of its performative, perception based manifestation. Upon breaching
the collective assumption of the actuality of gender, its mutual acceptability is
undermined, rendered unstable, and therefore, non existent.

Miles Davis And Coltrane Essay
Miles Davis and John Coltrane
Miles Davis was named as one of the most important musicians (trumpeters) of the
twentieth century. John Coltrane a groundbreaking acclaimed American saxophonist.
It is impossible to go into the genre of jazz or talk about American contemporary
music without mentioning their names. Hard bop, modal jazz were their main musical
features that to this day are an influence of most jazz today.
Both born in 1926, they each had their own path to success and fame. At just the
age of seventeen, Davis, a nine time Grammy Award winner, became a professional
trumpet player. After learning from Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker with
which he later played bebop with, Davis became famous for his indescribably
amazing jazz music. In 1945, he dropped out of Julliard School (at that time it was
the art and music institute) with the permission of his father and started his full time
career in music. At that time he was a member of the famous Charlie Parker Quintet
and made his first recording as a band leader the following year with his Miles Davis

alter the landscape of jazz and create hard bop. Both of them are very well known
for bringing the genre of music to a whole other level. The style could be
characterized by a fast tempo, really high energy, and featured polyrhythm and
irregular asymmetric phrasing (Danvarley, para.1). Drums gave out more beat,
instruments were used in various different ways and the saxophone and trumpet
became the leading instruments giving both Coltrane and Davis freedom to

Despite the common English backgrounds, societies in the New England and
Chesapeake regions of Colonial America had split off into two incredibly different
cultures: A very religiously focused New England and the more economic oriented
Chesapeake. Because these regions were settled for different purposes, the
development of these societies led to the distinctions between them. One of the major
causes for emigration from England to North America was religious persecution.
Religious tolerance in Britain for other Christian sects besides the Anglican church
was virtually nonexistent, resulting in many members of other sects to seek religious

Contrary to the pilgrims of New England, those who settled in the Chesapeake area
colonized the region for more economic purposes. Many people who settled in the
Chesapeake were down on their luck English citizens living in swamps and slums
hoping to stake it out in the New World, because it couldn t be much worse than
the conditions they faced back in England. Most received their tickets to America
through indentured servitude, paying for their trip with a few years of free labor
for a wealthy master. Document C is a roster of indentured servants bound for

lasting effects on the colonies, the most impactful being Bacon s Rebellion in 1676

land or property of their own once their work contracts expired. Because the land

dissenters focused against the rich and powerful members of the colonies. The
successful uprising led to reforms such as work regulations explained in Document
E, as well a shift away from indentured servitude and towards slavery of blacks. Other
settlers besides indentured servants were aspiring traders and gold hunters mentioned
in Document F. While traders had little success early on and treasure hunters

Use Of Stereotypes In Stephenie Meyer s Twilight
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer follows Bella Swan through her romance with the
vampire Edward Cullen. However, the novel is extremely harmful, especially to its
young adult audience. Twilight s use of sexist stereotypes for its main characters and
the portrayal of them as ideal makes it necessary to censor. From the first chapter of
Twilight, Bella Swanis placed into the traditional stereotype of a damsel in distress.
In this stereotype, the woman is a delicate beauty. Bella fits this description, as she
says that she is ivory skinned...I had always been slender, but soft somehow
(Meyer 10). However, Bella being the delicate beauty means that, she is therefore
seen by men as an object to be conquered. For example, a boy named Tyler asks Bella
to go to a school dance with him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He, on the outside, is Bella s knight in shining armor, even driving a shiny Volvo
(Meyer 14). He is handsome, rich, a perfect prince for the delicate princess Bella.
However, Edward is really far from being the hero . Putting aside the fact that he is
a vampire, Edward is nothing more than a controlling, insulting, obsessive man.
For example, Bella walking in the direction of her car after Edward rescues her,
when something caught my jacket, yanking me back. Where do you think you re
going? he asked, outraged. He was gripping a fistful of my jacket in one hand
(Meyer 103). Edward doesn t stop, but pushes, forces and even commands Bella
into his car. He even goes as far as threatening to just drag you back , should she
attempt to escape (Meyer 104). So, what does Bella do, she simply goes along with
this (Meyer 105). This brutal force of will comes from a character that is supposed
to every teen girls crush . This twisted version of an ideal guy, only strengthens the
book s sexist implication that a woman is nothing more than an object that must be
controlled by a man, to young impressible teen

Easy Essay Topics For High School Students

  • 1. Easy Essay Topics For High School Students Writing an essay on the topic "Easy Essay Topics for High School Students" might seem, ironically, not so easy at first glance. The challenge lies in striking the right balance between simplicity and engagement. While the subject may appear straightforward, the task of selecting suitable topics that cater to high school students while maintaining their interest can be daunting. Firstly, identifying topics that are both accessible and stimulating for high school students requires careful consideration. These topics need to be relevant to their experiences, interests, and educational level. Moreover, they should encourage critical thinking and creativity without overwhelming the students with complexity. Next, crafting the essay itself involves ensuring clarity and coherence in presenting the chosen topics. It's crucial to structure the essay in a way that is easy to follow, with clear introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions. Additionally, incorporating examples, anecdotes, or relevant real-life scenarios can enhance the essay's appeal and make the concepts more relatable to high school students. Furthermore, striking a balance between providing enough information to educate the reader and avoiding overwhelming them with excessive detail is key. The essay should aim to inform and engage without becoming overly simplistic or verbose. Moreover, addressing the diverse interests and backgrounds of high school students adds another layer of complexity. What may be engaging for one student could be entirely uninteresting to another. Therefore, tailoring the essay to appeal to a broad audience while still maintaining focus and coherence is a delicate task. In conclusion, while the topic "Easy Essay Topics for High School Students" may seem straightforward, the process of crafting an engaging and informative essay on this subject involves navigating various challenges. From selecting relevant topics to presenting them in a clear and engaging manner, writing such an essay requires careful consideration and skill. • 2. Smoking and Second Hand Smoking Essay Lifestyle is one of the determinants of health. Several factors influence the family lifestyle in UAE such as smoking. Tobacco uses still a great health hazard. It caused death for more than six million people in the world in 2010 (Aden, Karrar, Shafey Al Hosani, 2013). UAE faces a lot of negative effects related to tobaccosuch as cardiovascular disease which counted by 37.5% of all deaths in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (Aden, Karrar, Shafey Al Hosani, 2013). Injury can cause mortality and disability. It was the second leading cause of death UAE between 2000 and 2008 which is estimated at 1200 deaths per year. Around 9% of deaths of children was caused by injury from 2000 to 2008 (Loney, Aw, Daniel, Handysides, Ali, Blair, Grivna Shah,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also can increase the risk of cancer, peripheral vascular diseases, and lung cancer. Smokers are at doubled risk for ischemic stroke (Ockene Miller, 1997). Smoking plays a great role in endocrine disorders. It can decline the rate of fertility in both male and female. It is also associated with insulin resistance (Tweed, Hsia, Lutfy, Friedman, 2012). Indeed, both types of smoking, active and passive smoking can cause serious health problems. Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke, by persons other than the intended active smoker. It is also known as second hand smoking and it can cause premature death and morbidity. It can cause ischemic heart disease and asthma (Wipflia Sameta, 2011). Second hand smokers are at increased risk for coronary heart disease by approximately 30% (Barnoya Glantz, 2005). Second hand smoking has undesirable harmful impacts on children. It can cause lower respiratory tract infection, asthma, cot death and meningococcal disease. Children are more prone to develop the above mentioned diseases than adults as, children inhale more polluted air per kilogram (action on smoking and health, 2014). I would like to advise the paterfamilias or any smoker to visit a Clinic for Smoking Cessation as it helps them to stop smoking immediately.Home accidents and injuries are common cause of death in the UAE especially among kids. They spend most of their time inside homes. The parents believe that their home is
  • 3. Hunger And Hunger Of Hunger You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am so famished that you could see every little detail of my bones. I don t even have the energy to talk, or even walk because my last meal was four days ago. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. There are approximately 920 million people in the world who yearn for a meal each day, and every three point six seconds someone dies from hunger. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before, I ve missed breakfast, then my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you have it wrong. In the bag was a half eaten pasta salad, and I ate every substance from that bag. The dumpster was my breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. It was the reason why I m still alive. Hunger is stealing from a supermarket. This was the vile side of hunger, but it was either the family stay alive or die. I walk in the supermarket, and observe in the meat section. Glancing over my shoulder cautiously, I tear the barcode label and stuff two packs of chicken legs in my jacket. I knew it was bad, but I have a hungry family at home. I do the same to another pack of meat, and head for the exit. I slip pass the exit not trying to look suspicious. A cloud of shameand guilt rose around me as I strolled down the block towards my home. I could return them back, but we were hungry at home. Food costed money, something we didn t have. Hunger is opening the refrigerator to see only expired milk from last month, an old leftover sandwich, and a bottle of beer. My mom didn t make groceries again because she bought other things . As a 10 year old, I shouldn t have to always come home to nothing eat. The only meals I get are the ones from school. Hunger is begging for just a little change to feed little Johnny. • 4. The True Effects Of A Living Wage MANT 250 An Essay Discussing the True Effects of a Living Wage Dylan Gallagher 8136645 Word Count: 1906 Introduction It has been 20 years since the first living wage was introduced in Baltimore, Maryland. Long has it been argued that profitable organizations should have to pay a living wage to its employees. A wage sufficient enough to allow the employee to have a high enough standard of living to adequately take care of their family. The gap between social statuses is increasing even more, and having a living wage in place will help to reduce this gap in society, enabling those at the lower end of the economic spectrum to enjoy more luxuries that they would not usually have access to. Some key discussion points that need to be addressed are; possible job losses, reduction of poverty level, the effect on crime, health care effects, reducing urban poverty, and the varying costs of living that occur depending in different geographic locations. In this essay I will be debating the thesis of profitable organizations should be required to pay all their employees a living wage. What is a Living Wage? According to the Collins English Dictionary a living wage is a wage adequate to permit a wage earner to live and support a family in reasonable comfort . The Treasury Report released by the New Zealand government states this wage to be $18.40 an hour. By their calculations this wage is what is required by a family of two adults and two children. The living

  • 6. Communist Party And Its Muslim Minorities On September 23rd 2014, China found the prominent Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti guilty of separatism and sentenced him to life in prison. This ruling came as a shock to the international community, for he has been the foremost advocate of peacefully resolving Uyghur ethnic unrest in China. Ilham Tohti is an ethnically Uyghur economist, professor, writer, and public intellectual who has been spearheading the vanguard of cultivating mutual understanding and respect amongst Han and Uyghur Chinese. He has been steadfast on working within the system to finding a solution that will be mutually beneficial for the Communist Party and the Uyghur ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, home to many of China s ethnic Turkic Muslims. Even in the face of adversity, he has been outspoken and quick to criticize the missteps of the Communist Party s governance and policies towards Xinjiang province and its Muslim minorities. Due to that, the CCP views him as a threat, rather than a solution, to the extreme affairs of episodic ethnic and political unrest in Xinjiang. With the growing resentment from the Uyghur populous towards government s policies, the tensions in the Xinjiang region between Muslim Uyghur minorities and Han Chinesehave escalated to waves of terrorist attacks around China, with the recent stabbing in Kunming, being dubbed as China s 9/11 . In response, the CCP has imposed a more oppressive campaign to crackdown on the separatists and stabilize the region. In this plight,
  • 7. The War Of France And Louis Xiv The wars in France were one of the main causes to which economic distress arose. France did not just simply acquire a substantial debt suddenly which led to economic distress but gradually over time the financial situation in France worsened due to events such as the Seven Years War 1756 1763, American Revolution 1775 1783 and The Nine Years War (1688 1697) which would lead to long term negative financial implications for France. Louis XIV had extended France s power into Central Europe and North America. This power came about through wars which landed France with a self inflicted debt which would cripple its economy. When Louis XIV died in 1715 the state of the economy was dire and the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and Louis XVI aggravated the situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the immunity of taxes on the nobility and clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately needed. France s status as superpower was at threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances strong desire to retain this power explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had adopted. In the American war of independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist the Americans. French aid was pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781. However although the Americans gained much from France s support it led to no successful tangible results for France but it had

The thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence (1, 3, 71 76). There he sees the first apparition, an armed head which says to Macbeth Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff; beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough (4, 1, 73 74). The apparition warns Macbeth about Macduff. This gives Macbeth an edge over Macduff, who wants to kill him because of all the bad deeds he has done to stay in power. Macbeth can start to plan on how defend himself against Macduff or even plan to assassinate him as he did with the king before him and also as he did with Banquo. The second Apparition is a bloody child who comes to Macbeth and tells him Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth (4, 1, 81 83). This Apparition increases Macbeth s confidence so much. Macbeth thinks that everyone is of woman kind so he cannot be harmed. This makes Macbeth feel like he has total control over everyone and that no one can challenge him. But the final Apparition tells Macbeth Macbeth shall never vanquish d be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him (4, 1, 96 98). Macbeth does not feel as if he has anything to worry about because he believes that the second Apparition will protect him from anyone. These three Apparitions show Macbeth his weaknesses and his

  • 11. The Role Of Segregation In The Film And Film The film book Eyes on the Prize really opened up my eyes to what was going on in the 1960s. Segregation affected all elements of life in the United States, and blacks did not have the same basic rights as whites. Blacks took a beating literally to get the rights they deserved. These individuals overcame so much on their goal to receiving freedom and equality. From getting beat, hospitalized, to boycotting busses, and restaurants. Later the world would colonize Africa and carve the land up. The natives of the continent had very little say at the Berlin Conference. The main players in the conference were Great Britain, Belgium France, Portugal Italy Germany and Spain. Leopold II took one of the most disrupted regions today. The Democratic Republic of Congo would give Belgium power by their exploitation of rubber. The Congo has still not recovered from this colonization and in my opinion this is one of the worse mismanaged colonies. Germany took the southwest of Africa. Namibia still has a strong German presence. Swakopmund is a city in Africa that

Alexander Romance Essay A Marvelous World: The Uses of Fantasy in The Alexander Romance and A True Story There is great contrast between the uses of fantasy in The Alexander Romance by Pseudo Callisthenes and A True Story by Lucian. Pseudo Callisthenes uses the fantastical elements in his novel to reveal certain characteristics of his main character, Alexander, which are both positive such as his creativity and intelligence and negative such as his hubris. Lucian uses the marvelous to satirize his society especially the elements he viewed as unfeasible including the domain of philosophy. • 17. The Hunt By Josephine Donovan Unlike animals, humans are able to observe past the mere monochromatic vision of survival. We have an impeccable ability to desire more than just living to breed, and breeding only to someday perish. Thus, we gradually brush this canvas with the colours of ethics, control, and knowledge. Whether the colours fade or become prominent through time, this canvas becomes our perception of normality and we allow it to justify our actions; favorable or harmful. We, as well as the narrator in the short storyThe Hunt by Josephine Donovan represent this. However, because of the narrator s difference in perception, self indulgence, and greed for power, the story introduces a feeling of infuriation to the reader. The practice of killing an animal for food, trade or recreational activity has been a fairly permanent and traditional aspect of our history. Even after animal domestication grew, the approach of hunting to supply food was never abandoned. Hence, the idea of an animal s death is very ordinary. Yet, when the narrator presents the idea of killing another humanand hanging their heads on his wall as a trophy, the concept is angering. It allows the readers to pose the question of why we choose to have this double standard. From the birth of our existence, humans have been killing one another. The reasons vary from family feuds, religious disagreement, to territorial gain. Howbeit, no matter the scale of war, there is always an explanation connected to the act; killing for thrill

However, as history can attest, they were wrong. In the wake of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a short month later. The reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of Allied Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even cleared .This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were previously untapped. Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United Statesand their former enemy, Japan, following World War Two had a profound impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of both the United States and the Japanese postВwar governments. The exact nature of this impact would not be truly appreciated, however, for years to come. This miracle allowed for the industrialized nation of Japan to regain its foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia. Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for unconditional surrender and for Japan to be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied troops, and demilitarized. Japan would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic viability would be guaranteed through free trade Although the

On Owen s theological engagement, Crawford Gribben assessed the Socinian threat as a gift to Owen for drawing attention to the ambiguity of the boundaries of orthodoxy permitted by the state, and that Owen took advantage of the moral panic. Historical Context John Owen s Context John Owen (1616 1683) was born in Stadhampton, near Oxford, to Henry Owen, a man of Puritan sympathies. After finishing local grammar school, Owen matriculated at Queen s College, Oxford, in 1631. Owen achieved his Bachelor of Arts in 1632. He finished his Master of Arts studies in 1635 and ordained deacon. Then Owen engaged in a 7 year course for a Bachelor of Divinity. In 1642, Owen published A Display of Arminianism, the first among many of his works. Owen soon received much attention and was invited to preach before Parliament. In 1649, after the execution of Charles, Owen again preached to parliament. Here, Oliver Cromwell was present and chose Owen as his chaplain. Owen was then appointed Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1651. In the following year, Owen became vice chancellor and served until 1657. As a preacher who joined Cromwell s revolution, Owen s appointment was a symbolic victory over monarchy. In other words, the new appointments to key university positions were symbolic of the wider ambitions of the Cromwellian administration. As the Oxford Reformer, as Gribben put it, Owen promoted Calvinistic piety that transcended the political and cultural division of the university. In 1651, for example, Owen outlined the qualities of Calvinistic piety when he

Symbolism In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne, in his short story The Birthmark (written and published prior to 1843), contains the element of symbolism to present the theme of personal beauty, regardless of physical appearance. More specifically, he speaks of the appearance of Georgiana, the wife of Aylmer, who had a very large birthmark, or blemish that appeared upon birth. God made every individual perfect, and made it very clear that man not need go tampering with the beauty, inner or external, that God gave someone at the moment of their birth birth. The style Hawthorne chose describes each symbol with great detail . Another example would be when Aminabad looked at Georgiana with the identity given to her, not the identity her husband wants for her . ...Aminadab, looking intently at the lifeless form of Georgiana; and then he muttered to himself, If she were my wife, I d never part with that birthmark. Aminadab shows large levels of content with the appearance and features of Georgiana, that he would have never tampered with the features given to her at birth, opposed to Aylmer, who wanted to change the way she looked, that she be more beautiful to him (Rosenberg, The best the Earth has to Offer). A third example of this theme would be That Georgiana Wants Her husband to love her the way she is, and in the beginning of the story, gets rather upset at him. More specifically, we measure clustering coefficient, network density, average path length, assortativity, transitivity, and min, max, mean, and standard deviation degree. While several algorithms have been proposed for some of these measures, for simplicity of reproducing the results, we use the algorithms that have been implemented in the Python s Networkx library. All results are averaged over 25 independent model runs with different random seeds. It should be noted that in all analysis in this study we only consider undirected networks. Since the right hemisphere is normally associated with creativity, then any activity which helps to awaken this suppressed hemisphere is certainly welcome. Enter juggling. Who could argue juggling does not use both sides of the brain? Both hands are used in juggling, aren t they? If an accomplished juggler now wants to learn a new trick, once again the focus must become narrow, the ball or pin must capture the attention (enter left brain activity). Like a beginning new juggler, he or she must focus on throwing a double flip with the right hand before the left hand can throw a pin behind the back. In teaching people to juggle, they learn faster when asked to tell each time they have done something wrong. At first, they have no awareness of wrong movements. Once they recognize them, they can eliminate them. Therefore it is essential to practice in order to learn juggling. The simplest movement requires complex electrical/chemical circuitry within the brain. The study of this circuitry is fast becoming an important field of neuroscience. Perhaps someday neurosurgeons will electronically hook up a juggler and a monitor and the neuron action, which travels back and forth between the two hemispheres

  • 38. Overcoming Adversity In A Trip For Mrs. Taylor Everyone has experienced adversity at one point in their life, whether it be a final exam or staying strong while you re going through a rough time. As for many, they assume that running from their problems is the easy way out when in fact running from your problems may seem easy at the time, but is a race that can never be won. Instead, we need to face our problems straight on, because the feeling of conquering a challenge gives us an unexplainable feeling of success. Through the character Mrs. Taylor, Author Hugh Garner depicts how facing hardships head on, leads to the feeling of accomplishment in his story, A Trip For Mrs. Taylor . Based on the story and a personal example it s evident that when an individual faces adversity, they strive to overcome challenges which leads to the rush of success. In the short story, A Trip for Mrs. Taylor, author Hugh Garner uses Mrs. Taylor to demonstrate when Mrs. taylor is lonely, how going on a trip helps her to overcome adversity through the smallest interactions with others which brings upon Mrs. Taylor the feeling of success. From the start, a reader can infer that Mrs. Taylor feels lonely and goes on a trip to fill the void of solitude. On the way to the cathedral like station concourse, a young soldier sympathetically helps Mrs. Taylor with her bags. The soldier was the first person outside of Mrs. Connell and the man at the grocery store, that she had spoke to all week (Garner3) inferring that Mrs. Taylor is isolated and
  • 39. Traveling throguh the Dark by William Stafford Traveling through the Dark by William Stafford is essentially a short poem that was written based on personal experience. The poem starts out with an unnamed, anonymous character which is also the narrator of the poem as he tells of a haunting but sad memory in first person. The story begins by telling of how a cautious traveler in the night comes across a dying deerbut with an unborn child waiting to be born. What the traveler chooses to do with the deer and her child is a conflict that will decide their fate. The poem is a sentimental poem that is both a memory from the past and a lesson of morals by Stafford that draws the reader in and makes them ponder; what would I do if I were in this situation? Being written in first person, Stafford puts the reader into the traveler s position and by this, the reader can experience what is happening as if it were them in the situation. The short poem begins with a traveler driving along a narrow road by the Wilson River in Oregon, United States. He stumbles upon a dead doe on the road and with good intentions, tries to move it out of the way for safe travel of future drivers. He realises that the doe is pregnant with an unborn child and this is where the traveler comes into internal conflict with himself. He hesitates with the choices of helping other drivers by tossing the doe with an unborn fawn into the water or saving it as if he knew how to. In the end, the traveler does not save the doe and tosses it into the river.

Organizational Behavior Defined Organizational Behavior Defined Introduction It is reasonable to suggest that the overwhelming majority of humankind has either been part of or required the services of organizations at some point in time during their lives, and many of these consumers will likely testify that although every organization is different in some ways, they all share some common characteristics. Furthermore, because all organizations are comprised of mere humans, they are subject to the same behavioral whims, weaknesses and vagaries that also characterize the human condition from day to day and over time. To gain further insights into these concepts, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to develop a comprehensive and robust definition of organizational behavior. This review is followed by a summary of the research and salient findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion As the term indicates, organizational behavior describes how people interact in a workplace setting to achieve a common goal or purpose. In this regard, Kelly and Kelly (1998) emphasize that, Organizational behavior is essentially concerned with what people do in organizations (p. 4). Therefore, defining organizational behavior requires a consideration of how people actually behave in workplace settings at a given point in time as well as over time (Miner, 2002). As Kelly and Kelly point out, A good working definition of organizational behavior is the systematic study of

Before teams get the go ahead to make signings official, they ve been active with clearing cap space via trades and buyouts. Though the NHL is rarely predictable, some of those trades were downright surprising. After keeping their defensive core intact during the expansion draft, the Minnesota Wild moved Marco Scandella a star defenseman to the Buffalo Sabres, along with Jason Pominville. In return, they picked up an undersized by skilled d man in Tyler Ennis, and a gritty forward in Marcus Foligno. After signing Scott Darling to a four year contract, the Canes exposed both Eddie Lack and Cam Ward in the expansion draft. Vegas selected neither. Despite Ward being at the tail end of his career, he has been the guy in Carolina for a long time. That left Lack the odd man out; instead of buying out his contract, Carolina traded him to the Calgary Flames in return for Keegan Kanzig. (I know. I ve never heard of him either.) Although they retain part of Lack s contract for the next season, it s less of a burden going forward, which is the entire purpose of the move. Between Darling and Ward, nearly $7.5 million in cap money is used up on goalies alone. With Lack s entire contract, the Canes would be spending an even more exorbitant amount on three goalies when only two can play. This move makes a lot of sense, but it surely disrupted Lack s honeymoon when he got the news. At least he did get the news; Artemi Panarin was evidently out in rural Russia somewhere when he was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Columbus Blue Jackets and couldn t be reached for quite some time. Panarin and Tyler Motte were sent eastward in exchange for Brandon Saad and Anton Forsberg, the latter of whom has already signed a contract extension with his new team. Saad, of course, was a Blackhawk before, and was part of their 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cup victories, before being dealt to Columbus as a casualty of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane s ridiculous contracts. • 42. Research Paper On Erikson Life Stages 3.Psychological System During adolescence, individuals explore and establish a sense of their own identity, which involves thinking about what they want in life, what kind of person they want to be, and who they really are (Erikson, 1968). Although identity development is a lifelong process, the concept of their identity is mainly formed and crystalized during adolescence. Individuals often find themselves trying to become independent, but also worrying about the responsibilities that come with the independence; adolescents think about their values, the directions they choose to pursue in life, such as vocation, interpersonal relationships, community involvement, ethnic group membership, and expression of one s sexual orientation, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Erikson s Identity and the Life Cycle, he says the Identity Versus Identity Diffusion psychosocial stage is characterized by adolescents search for a new sense of continuity and sameness [but] some adolescents have to refight many of the crises of earlier years (Erikson, 1959, p. 94). When adolescents encounter role confusion or identity diffusion, they often encounter a dilemma based on a strong previous doubt of one s ethnic and sexual identity, which can lead to delinquent and outright psychotic incidents (Erikson, 1959, p. 97). Erikson describes it as the inability to settle on an occupational identity and in order to keep themselves together, they temporarily over identify, to the point of apparent complete loss of identity (Erikson, 1959, p. 97). In order for adolescents to establish a coherent sense of identity, the previous crises must be resolved and they must have a healthy sense of trust, autonomy, initiative, and industry (Steinberg Belsky, 1991). James Marcia (1980) in Blackwell Handbook of Adolescent Psychology further explored Erikson s theory and expanded it with four different states of identity formation; suicidal adolescents who are unable to form an identity may be stuck at identity diffusion or identity moratorium. In identity diffusion, adolescents suffer from severe lack of decision making and have no direction whereas adolescents are indecisive and have different identity options, but do not fully commit in identity moratorium. As a result, adolescents, unable to form an identity or struggle to form one, may turn to suicidal thoughts and ultimately commit suicide. Adolescents who suffer from role confusion or identity

This novel was loosely based on the Medieval Times, from the Anglo Saxon and Scandinavian works. The narrative followed around a group of people on a quest to take the treasure of Smaug. There are many important components of each story. These include its plot, themes, or setting. In this essay, I will be explaining the similarities and differences between the three races of The Hobbit. The first topic of discussion will be the comparison of the race s physical traits. These physical traits allow a reader to visualize characters. It also gives the reader to make their own judgements of a race based on appearance. In the terms of height, the hobbits and dwarves are shorter than an average human. The hobbits ... wear no shoes... thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their heads... Fenella was married to Wallace, Laird of Inverness and the father of Efie. He fell ill one day and withered in a week due to a mysterious disease. The Lair was soon succeeded by Derek, Wallace s younger brother. Love blossomed between Fenella and Derek, something which did not come as a surprise to the members of the clan. Soon their union bore Fenella another daughter whom she named Colina. But 3 years after Colina s birth, Derek was plagued with the same illness Wallace suffered from and passed away. Efie and Colina could pass up for twins although some differences are quite apparent. Efie was vibrant and cheerful. Her hair flows down to her shoulders and shimmers like gold under the sun. Her brown eyes speak of the naughty secrets she keeps but would not think twice about divulging them to anyone who cares enough to know. Colina, on the other hand, was always quiet, unsure and shy. But what she lacks for in self expression is more than made up for by her astounding beauty. Colina s hair was dark red, almost mahogany and her eyes were gentle green. She was younger than Efie by 5 years, and as it is with younger sisters, Colina tries extra hard to emulate Efie. The sibling rivalry which now exists between the sisters was mainly due to how Fenella has treated them. Anyone could see how Fenella favors Efie over Colina. Fenella feels that Efie has become more and more like her

Although very rigid, these traditional roles are frequently transferred, resulting in an altered and undefinable identity that exists beyond the boundaries of gender. Her essay deals with the conceptual presence of gender within society that functions as the primary element in expected behavioral roles. Drawing upon previous philosophic and psychoanalytic thought, Butler espouses a theory rooted in the concept of social agents that constitute social reality through language, gesture, and all matter of symbolic social sign. (Butler 270) Butler asserts that gender is not based on an internal identity or self definition, but rather on perceptory, reflective notions of performances. Gender itself, in its unstable temporality, is defined by Butler to be an identity instituted through a stylized repetition of acts an ephemeral performance from which social constructs are formed. (Butler 270) In this analysis, Butler establishes the notion of gender as an abstracted, mass perception which is rendered concrete by the fact of its common acceptance. It is a shared reality of the public, it s existence is a consequence of society s mutual acknowledgment. In this light, Butler describes the concept as being purely temporal the appearance and perception of gender constitutes its reality. As a result, the examination of gender construction is the examination of its performative, perception based manifestation. Upon breaching the collective assumption of the actuality of gender, its mutual acceptability is undermined, rendered unstable, and therefore, non existent. Butler illustrates the malleability
