This document discusses whether judging is always wrong based on Jesus' teaching in Matthew 7:1. It presents three key points:
1) Jesus condemns hypocritical judgment, but allows for making certain kinds of judgments based on evidence.
2) Jesus instructs His followers to make judgments about false teachers based on their "fruits".
3) Scripture shows that judging is not universally wrong if done righteously based on evidence, rather than appearance. Judging has its place when discerning truth.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Is Judging Always Wrong?
“Judge not that ye be not judged” (Matthew 7:1).
Some people conclude from these words of Jesus, that if we do any
kind of judging, we are strictly out of harmony with His teaching.
Does Jesus forbid us to do any judging at all? If so, we surely
ought to abstain from so doing.
What if the Lord gives us liberty to make certain kinds of
judgments? Then we should feel free to make them.
Our text plainly condemns one kind of judging. The context
makes it very obvious that hypocritical judgment is under
consideration.
But in the same chapter, in verses fifteen and sixteen, Jesus
instructs us to make judgments as to who are false teachers. “Beware
of false prophets…” He is talking about teachers.
How is this judging to be done? It comes by looking at the
evidence. “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (verse 16).
So we must always guard against making frivolous, premature
judgments, without all the evidence. Jesus commanded: “Judge not
according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgments” (John
7:24).
From the Scriptures we can clearly see that judging is not always
wrong.

Words can never express what I feel inside. For
the ones who called, sent cards, visited and prayed
for me--it makes me feel warm inside. Nothing is
taken for granted in times like these. You’re
responses in situations like these, now that’s what’s
special to me. I could have never guessed the time,
hour and date, but second chances are a blessing

Dear East Main youth and family,
Thank you for a wonderful meal! I was about to
decide I wasn’t going to have any truly tasteful
chicken and dressing this Thanksgiving. Yesterday,
I had servings from two dishes and both were so
good. I am not disappointed any more. That was a
great treat for the elderly. You parents and your
children are very special. And to know God’s word
is to be carried on after our generation, is
heartwarming. I hope this “treat” will become a
tradition for East Main. I am praying for the elders
in selection of a new minister. Evelyn McEwen
