The article discusses Jesus' second coming and what it will be like. It will be a day of both sorrow and rejoicing. Sadly, the majority of people who have lived will experience sorrow because they rejected God's salvation through Jesus. However, those who were faithful to God will experience the greatest rejoicing, as they will be able to spend eternity with the Lord. The article encourages Christians to remain faithful and watchful as they await Jesus' return.

WHEN JESUS COMES AGAIN Part 2

The Bible is a very large book and can be very intimidating to the average
reader. A simple description of God’s word would be as follows: God made man in His
own image, man disobeyed God (i.e. sinned), and by God’s abundant mercy, He made a
way of redemption. That redemption is through the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ (John
3:16; 14:6). Therefore, the Bible can be summed up in three ways: Jesus is coming (Old
Testament), Jesus has come (Matthew-John), and finally, the New Testament (including
the Gospel accounts) reveals the undeniable fact that Jesus is coming back. The question
is, “What will it be like when Jesus comes again?”
It will be a day of sorrow. How many times have we stopped to consider the
number of people there are in this world? It is even more staggering to consider how
many people have ever lived on this planet. Of course, that number is countless. Every
individual is a soul, created by the all-powerful Creator of the universe (Ecclesiastes
12:7; Isaiah 42:5; Zechariah 12:1). The hard truth is that “The hour is coming, in the
which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth; they that
have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the
resurrection of damnation” (John 5:28, 29). According to Jesus, those who have done
evil have nothing to look forward to, but an eternity of sorrow. “And cast ye the
unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth”
(Matthew 25:30). What great sorrow it will cause to know that while here on earth we
have been given every opportunity to obey the gospel (Romans 1:16; 10:16; 2
Thessalonians 1:7-9; 2:14), and to become children of the promise (Galatians 4:28),
only to reject the salvation God has offered to all those that obey Him (Hebrews 5:8, 9).
Sadly, this day of sorrow will be experienced by the majority and not the
minority. “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” (Matthew 7:13). One of
the greatest tragedies of this “destruction” is the fact that we choose it. The statement
Jesus is making is for all to “enter” into the right way and to avoid the sorrow of the
wrong way.
It will be a day of rejoicing. Those who will be lost will experience the greatest
sorrow ever imaginable, but those who enter into the “strait and narrow” way will
experience the greatest level of rejoicing ever imaginable. Have you considered why we
will rejoice when the Lord returns? Many have not because of the difficulty we have
thinking spiritually. Paul let the Corinthian church know that we are to compare
“spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Corinthians 2:13). We tend to look at everything from
a physical standpoint and thus, miss out on the “peace of God, which passeth all

understanding” (Philippians 4:7). The understanding
that you and I can be with the Lord forever is not seen
by the world as being something of value. Truth be
told, to the worldly mindset the avoidance of Hell is
the greatest motivation to serve God. The true servant
of God understands that love is the only enduring
motivation that will lead one to rejoice when the Lord
comes again. Jesus said, “If you LOVE Me keep My
commandments” (John 14:15).
“When Jesus comes to reward His servants.
Whether it be noon or night, Faithful to Him will He
find us watching, With our lamps all trimmed and
bright? O can we say we are ready, brother? Ready for
the soul’s bright home? Say, will He find you and me
still watching, Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall
come?” These are the words to the first verse of the
song “Will Jesus Find Us Watching?” by Fanny J.
Crosby. She captured the heart of the second coming
as seen by the true child of God. Many tend to look at
the second coming of our Lord as a day to punish the
wicked. The faithful Christian sees this day as a day of
reward. The bottom line is that we all will receive a
reward. “For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ; that EVERY ONE may receive the
things done in his body, according to that he hath
done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians
5:10). So again, we must ask ourselves, “O can we say
we are ready?” Ready for the day “When Jesus
Comes Again?”

Sympathy
We were deeply saddened by the sudden passing
of our brother Grady McCaskill on Friday. Funeral
services were held Sunday at East Main. Please
continue to remember Janie and the rest of the family
as they deal with this great loss. Grady was a fine
faithful Christian man who always had a smile on his
face. He will be sorely missed among our number
here at East Main.
We also extend our sincere condolences to the
family of brother Leon Willis who passed away Sept.
26. Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Pegues.
Brother Willis had been a faithful gospel preacher at
the Eggville congregation for many years and related
to several here at East Main.
Certainly, heaven has gained two fine souls this
past week!
