THANK YOU

One of the most beautiful statements in the world is “thank you.” Words can
never express the gratitude my family and I have for the Church here at East Main.
The only way we can think of is to say “THANK YOU.” We are delighted to have
the opportunity to be working with you. God has deeply enriched our lives with
extending our Christian family. We pray that our time together here will be as
profitable for you as it already has been for us.
Peter, by inspiration, penned the words, “Use hospitality one to another without
grudging” (1Peter 4:9). How wonderful it is to have friends open the doors of their
homes and welcome guests. You, as a congregation, have opened the doors of
hospitality to my family and for that we are truly grateful. God has always put that
which is best before man (John 10:10). This is easily seen in the “golden text” of
the Bible. “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you,
do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12). When
one lives as God prescribes, not only does he benefit, but so do those with whom
he comes in contact. “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to
himself” (Romans 14:7). You have benefited my family by your example of
Christianity and we are blessed to be part of this congregation.
Here is a short list of blessings we all should count daily.

8. Children (Psalm 127:3-5)
9. Elders (1 Thessalonians 5:12, 13; Hebrews 13:7, 17)
10. Jesus the Christ (John 1:29; John 3:16; Romans 5:10)

All of these blessings, and many more, we have
right here in Tupelo, every time the saints assemble
to worship. Who would not want to be a part of
such a blessed work?
However, many people fail to see the importance
of faithful Christian service and worship. Paul in his
letter to the Romans wrote, “I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service. And be not conformed to this world: but be
ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1, 2). God
has made known the fact that He desires, as well as
requires, worship when He said, “the Father
seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and
they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit
and in truth” (John 4:23, 24). Would it not then be
safe to say, “anyone who would with-hold worship
from God cannot truly be thankful?”
We enjoy greatly every opportunity we have
been given to assemble with our brothers and sisters
here at East Main. It brings to mind the words of
David when he said, “I was glad when they said
unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD”
(Psalm 122:1). David was glad because he had an
attitude of gratitude toward the Lord and what He
had done in David’s life (Psalm 54). We share with
David that same joy today. God has done many
wonderful things in our lives including allowing us
to be here with you. Therefore, we can joyfully say,
“We are glad when it is time to assemble with the
saints.” When we grasp the “attitude of gratitude”
we will not look at such passages as, “Not forsaking
the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner
of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much
the more as you see the day approaching”
(Hebrews 10:25), in a negative light. Our focus
should be more upon the “exhorting one another”
part of the verse.
My family and I have been greatly exhorted in
our short time together. It is our prayer that you
might be exhorted by our presence here as well.
May God help us all to be grateful for the blessings
God has given to us to be called the “children of
God.”
Sr. Youth Service Project
& Cookout
The Sr. Youth will meet
at the building this
Saturday, April 28 at 9:00
a.m. to go work in several
of our Sr. Saints’ yards.
Plans are to be done by
3:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. that evening there will be a
cookout and devotional at Jason & Amanda
Dickinson’s home. Please sign the food list posted
beside the tract rack in the foyer.
Sympathy
Our sympathy is extended to Kelly Thompson in
the loss of his sister-in-law, Eileene Thompson.
Funeral services were held Apr. 21 in Union Grove.

Ian and I are so thankful for the outpouring of
love given to us at our shower here at East Main.
The blessings we received from your thoughtfulness
and the time spent to be with us means more than
you will ever know. A special “thank you” to the
shower group for the beautiful bridal shower! East
Main has given me a special love and support from
birth to help me grow spiritually in becoming a
Christian and encouraging me to stay faithful in this
journey of life! Much love to each and every one of

Our Sick
Pete Barber will have an outpatient procedure
Tuesday to remove fluid from his lungs. Calvin
Barber, Lavern Williams & William Harris’ uncle,
is in room 199 at NMMC for rehab. Baby girl
Ayzleigh Bass and baby boy Silas Spearman are home
from the hospital. Betty Harrell, Raleigh Bass’
mother, continues to suffer with vestibular neuritis.
Sheba Tuggers, Annie Dilworth’s daughter, is on
dialysis. Wanda Bishop’s sister-in-law, Sherry
Gregory, is battling cancer. Rodney Voyles’ cousin,
Mike Scott is unable to speak following a mishap
during surgery. Mickey Bailey, Michael Wilson’s
sister, is having mini-strokes and her doctors are
discussing what treatment plan to follow. Caroline
Willis, Lynn Sanderson’s mother, fell last week and
is pretty banged up. Kristie Webb was sick at home
Sunday.

Our ladies’ day was a success! Cindy Colley

worked so hard getting everything ready for this
day.
Teachers’ Training
Seminar
The West Main congregation will host a
Teachers’ Training Seminar this Sunday, April 29,
after a.m. worship services with Michael Whitworth
speaking. Session 1 will begin at 12:00 p.m. Session
2 will begin at 1:30 p.m. Session 3 will begin at
2:30 p.m. There is a flyer on the bulletin board with
more information.
