Module 5
Exogenic Processes
Earth Surface composed of WATER and
LANDMASSES.
PROCESSES: WEATHERING, EROSION, DEPOSITION
WEATHERING
-Process of disintegration and
decomposition of rocks.
-important process in the formation of
rocks.
2 Types of WEATHERING
1. Mechanical or Physical Weathering
2. Chemical Weathering
1. Mechanical or Physical Weathering
-breakdown of rocks into pieces
without any change in composition.
2. Chemical Weathering
- There are changes in composition
due to chemical reactions.
Soil
-a mixture of grains, organic matter,
water and gas.
EROSION
-the separation of weathered rocks due to
different agents like: water ,wind, glacier.
Plant ,animals, and humans play an
important role in the erosional process.
Mass Wasting
-the movement of sediments
downslope under the influence of
gravity.
Example : fall, slide, and flow.
Deposition
-the process in which the weathered
materials carried out by erosion settle
down in a particular location.
Mass Wasting
-the movement of sediments
downslope under the influence of
gravity.
Example : fall, slide, and flow.
Deposition
-the process in which the weathered
materials carried out by erosion settle
down in a particular location.
