Edgar Allen Poe and Oscar Gustave Rejlander incorporated collage elements. In the 1860s and 1870s, domestic collages became popular. Fantastic fiction incorporating collage proliferated in the late 19th century. Combination printing and trick photography developed in the late 1800s. Postcards featuring collage became widespread in the early 1900s. Modernist art movements including Futurism, Dada, Surrealism incorporated collage and photomontage in the early 20th century.
