Dracula is a famous 1897 novel by Bram Stoker that was inspired by a man named Arminius Vámbéry but was not immediately successful upon its first publication. Stoker wrote both the novel and its first theatrical adaptation. He was born in Ireland in 1847 and studied at Trinity College in Dublin. In 1992, Bram Stoker's Dracula was released as a movie that was very faithful to the original novel and was nominated for 4 Oscars, winning 3. One of the earliest movies featuring a vampire character similar to Dracula was Nosferatu the Vampire from 1921-1922.
