Alfred Nobel invented dynamite in 1867 after several years of experimenting with nitroglycerin. A tragic explosion at his family's factory that killed his brother motivated Nobel to invent a safer explosive. He achieved this by mixing nitroglycerin with diatomaceous earth, creating dynamite. Dynamite proved much more stable and practical to use than pure nitroglycerin. Nobel went on to profit greatly from his dynamite patents and founded factories around the world to produce dynamite, which revolutionized industries like mining, quarrying, construction and demolition through its powerful and controllable explosive capabilities.
